15 people have just been injured after a party bike crashes and flips onto its side. Yeah, it was not at all. >> [music] >> Surveillance shows the pedal pub going too fast while turning with passengers being thrown from the vehicle and others [music] becoming trapped underneath as bystanders rushed to help lift the bike and free those pinned beneath it. All 15 passengers were injured. Two suffered critical injuries, three sustained serious injuries, and the remaining 10 had minor injuries. None of the injuries were considered life-threatening, and all occupants are expected to make a full recovery. The driver, identified as James, was charged with DUI. The owner of the Atlanta franchise, John, was cited for operating without a valid sightseeing permit. Pedal Pub Development, the franchisor, stated that in its 15-year history and more than 5 million riders, it was aware of only three accidents that resulted in serious injuries, including the Atlanta crash. The Atlanta crash renewed concerns [music] over the safety of pedal pubs with some smaller cities tightening their local rules and permit requirements. Yelp now lists the Atlanta location as closed. The suspect is innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
