on August 5th 2023 a police officer noticed a vehicle being driven recklessly swerving across lanes and failing to maintain proper lane discipline recognizing the potential danger to other Road users the officer decided to take immediate action the officer signaled the driver to pull over to the side of the road upon compliance the officer initiated a traffic stop to address the situation ensuring that the reckless driving behavior was stopped before it could lead to an accident or further endanger Public Safety all right do me a favor can you turn and walk over to my car please you have anything your pockets me after stopping the vehicle the officer approached and noticed that the female driver appeared to be highly intoxicated and somewhat drowsy her movements were sluggish and her eyes were heavy indicating a lack of full awareness when the officer began questioning her as part of the investigation it became evident that she was struggling to respond coherently she was unable to focus slurred Her speech and had difficulty comprehending the officer's questions' how are you officer still in seide park being audio and [Music] video I'm sorry I'm not where are you coming from9 Tak a report for a r do you have your yeah do you have your do you have your registration do you have anything to drink to uh yeah what's that I did have a drink a drink to you okay sorry but okay around around what time did you drink last what's up you the female driver repeatedly questioned the officer about the reason for the investigation seemingly confused and irritated by the situation her physical appearance further raised concerns her red bloodshot eyes were clear signs of intoxic observing these indicators the officer became more certain that she was under the influence of alcohol is this the car registered to you can I have another place [Applause] another unit please 66 6 [Music] I'm going hang out by my car you can this is you can lean up against wait call yeah I'm out with the car that guy H Park 71 North oan 101 Ready's house I just separated from my husband in a really bad situation I didn't want to sleep with him so I wanted to drive home I'll go back there I understand that but Val 23 Sil Hernandez given her admission and the visible signs of intoxication the officer explained that they needed to conduct a few tests to assess her level of sobriety understanding the seriousness of the situation the female agreed to undergo the tests of 270 Point 54y old male out a can you look my way pleas no can you look my way please okay so right now I have a reason to believe that you're operting your vehicle under the inflence of alcohol you did tell me that you did drink and the reason I'm pulling you over is because you're on theong side of the high okay so I'm just going to do a coupley you understand yeah do you we contacts or glasses or anything like that do you have any medical conditions with your eyes or anything like that get that out for me it's upside down working the officer then asked the female to follow his finger with her eyes to perform the horizontal gaze nagus test a standard procedure used to detect signs of intoxication this test involves the officer moving their finger horizontally in front of the driver's face while observing the eyes for involuntary jerking a common indicator of impairment the female complied focusing on the officer's finger as he conducted the test which would help determine if she had been drinking and whether her level of impairment was significant enough to Warrant further action okay do me a favor can you look at my time M so you're going to follow the surprise don't move your head stay with your feet together and your the first T after completing the hgn test the officer proceeded to administer the other field sobriety tests the next test was the walk and turn test where the female was instructed to take nine steps in a straight line Heel To Toe turn on one foot and return in the same manner as she attempted to perform the test it quickly became evident that she was struggling to maintain her balance she wobbled missed steps and had difficulty following the officer's instructions further confirming her impaired State the alphabet test are you familiar with English alphabet yes okay what's your highest level of Education Bachelor Master okay are you Bachelor okay so the test is you're going to remain with your feet together and your hands at your sides and when I say begin you're going to State the English alphabet from A to Z without singing or stopping for example when I say begin going to say a b c d e and continue all the way to be without singing or stoping okay do you understand the instructions okay do you have any medical conditions or anything that'll prevent you from taking this part the okay all right you may begin b c d e f g h i j k l m n o e q r s WX y okay so the next test is the onelegged stand so it's same same thing you're going to stand with your feet together and your hands at your sides and when I see begin you're going to pick the leg of your choice could be your left or your right and you're going to raise it 6 in from the ground with your toes to the sky without singing or stopping okay do you understand that so when I say begin I'm going to pick the leg of your choice I'm going to use my right you can use whichever one you want and you're going to raise it 6 in from the ground your toes to the sky and you're going to count 1,1 1002 1003 1004 all the way until I tell you to stop do you understand anything that'll prevent you from this statically okay better have he on okay would you like to take your heels off I'll try with with the mom okay okay you may be do you want to count okay I can't go 27 what's that count know how you're supposed to count low oh am I supposed to count you're supposed okay so here come over here so you're going to stand on this line we're going to use this straight line right this is the last test this is the walk and turn so do me a favor stand next to these officers real quick so I'll demonstrate it for you first so the final test is to walk and turn so you're going to stand on the line with your feet together and your hands at your sides and you're going to put your right foot in front of your left with your right heel against the your left toes you understand now when I say begin you're going to step off and count all Heel To Toe steps for example I say begin you're going to count 1 2 3 4 five and you're going to continue all the way to the ninth step at the ninth step you're going to take a series those small steps and put that right foot back in front of your left foot heel to TU you understand and then you're going to continue all the way back 1 2 3 4 all the way to nine and when you're finished you're going to turn and just tell me that you're done okay so Nine and Nine Nine and Nine okay do you have any questions no okay do you understand anything that'll prevent you from doing this test okay give your favor stand line okay keep together hands at your sides all right you may begin sorry I a get this but the officer having confirmed the female's high level of intoxication through various tests decided to arrest her she was carefully placed inside the patrol vehicle for her safety and transported to the police station upon arriving at the police station the officer spoke with the female to gather additional information and details related to the case once all necessary information was collected the officer decided to place her in a holding cell this step was taken to ensure her safety and custody while further processing including potential charges and legal proceedings were prepare okay all right do me a favor can you turn and walk over to my car please you have anything your pockets me at this time you have the right to remain silent anything you do or say can will be used against you in the portal wall
