Main Street in Chicago Illinois East Poria police officer Jeffrey Bieber responded to the scene of a traffic accident upon arrival he observed a red Dodge Dart with front-end damage and two pedestrians lying in the road tragically both pedestrians were later pronounced dead officer Bieber made contact with the driver of the Dodge Dart identified as 24-year-old Stephanie melosa he noted that melosa was slurring Her speech had red and watery eyes and smelled of alcohol this body cam footage begins with officer Bieber as he initiates his DUI investigation the footage becomes increasingly disturbing as melgoza can be seen laughing giggling and showing no apparent concern after fatally striking two pedestrians while driving under the influence the two victims were identified as 55-year-old Paul prent and his girlfriend 43-year-old Andrea roswit while at the hospital officer Bieber appeared highly frustrated as melgoza repeatedly insisted she had to attend school the next day and he finally gives her a dose of reality but does that even phase her let's watch how this tragic event unfolds and we will provide an update on the entire case please share your these charges included two counts of aggravated driving Under the Influence resulting in death two counts of aggravated reckless driving resulting in bodily harm unlawful possession of cannabis transporting or carrying alcohol and failure to reduce speed melgoza was ultimately sentenced to 14 years in prison for striking and killing two pedestrians while driving Under the Influence she faced a sentencing range of 6 to 28 years after pleading guilty without a plea deal to two counts of aggravated DUI and two counts of reckless driving as part of the plea agreement three lesser charges were dropped each count of aggravated DUI carried a sentencing range of 3 to 14 years what are your thoughts on this tragic case did she receive a fair sentence or should she have been given more time do
