What did you say? >> Who I am, right? >> I don't know who you are, miss. And I I frankly I No, I I really don't. >> A luxury SUV is swerving all over the road. And when police light it up, the driver doesn't act scared. She acts entitled. The driver is Maria Buchcci, chairwoman of the Cranston Democratic Committee and a former Maril candidate. From the very start, she's confrontational. >> And I'm not the girl, but I either. >> She hits the officer with, "Do you know who I am?" And when he doesn't play along, it only escalates. She tries to lean on her political status, refuses to cooperate. >> That's perfectly fine. >> Embarrass me. >> I'm not embarrassing you, miss. You put yourself in this position, not me. >> And turns the stop into a full-on power struggle. >> It's a yes or a no. Is that >> I'm going to ask you, what's my turn? >> It's yes or no. >> And what if I say >> you can make whatever decision? Listen, I'm not going to argue with you. >> On camera, she berates the officer, calls him a loser and a dick. Give me the camera. You're a dick. >> And claims that if she were black, she would have already been arrested. Then she crosses a line with a disturbing comment about her own children becoming police officers. And what she says next is the moment everything changes. On December 18th, 2025, at approximately 12:17 a.m. on Division Street in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, police pulled over Maria Buchcci, chairwoman of the Cranston Democratic Committee and a former mayoral candidate on suspicion of DUI. But this isn't a normal traffic stop. The body cam captures Buchcci becoming immediately uncooperative and combative, talking to officers like the rules don't apply to her. >> Just right over here, Miss right over there, please. Yeah, I'm listening. >> Okay. All right. All right. Do you have anything in your mouth? What do I have in my mouth? >> You don't have any gum or anything like that? >> No. >> Okay. All right. >> Okay. So, listen. All right. >> What else did you have to drink tonight? >> Just glass of wine. Like that. >> That's it. Just one glass of wine. >> It's my cousin. I'm taking her home. We went to a Christmas party. I don't drink. Very random. Nor would I drive if I drank. My husband would drive if I was drinking. >> Okay. >> I think I'm pretty cool. So, it's fine. >> So, I can smell alcohol coming off your breath right now. And your driving was pretty erratic. So, you you I mean, you can make all the faces you want. That's perfectly fine. >> Embarrass me. >> I'm not embarrassing you, miss. You put yourself in this position, not me. So, listen. Stay in the vehicle. Stay in the vehicle. Stay in the vehicle. Stay in the vehicle. >> Told you she drank. Stop embarrassing us. >> I'm not embarrassing you, miss. I'm doing my job. Yeah. Well, I am. No, I am. Oh, yeah. Okay, that's fine. All right. I'm sorry. >> What did you say? >> Who I am, right? >> I don't know who you are, miss. And I I frankly No, I I really don't. Frankly, I don't. And you know, >> that's the So, listen. So, listen to me. So, listen to me, okay? You can start throwing out names and start >> doing out what you need to do. >> It's not going to work with me. I'm telling you right now. >> I I'm not the guy for that. >> And I'm not the girl for that either. >> Well, you're starting that. You're starting it. You are. And just so you know, everything's recorded here. Okay. Okay. I hope it is. >> Yeah, it is. So, listen. The next thing I'm going to ask you, okay, you willing to go through some standardized field sobriety test? >> No. You know what I wanted to sit down? >> I think this is abuse. I think >> it's not abuse, miss. I'm asking you a simple question. >> Is not driving and you're abusing her. >> So, listen to me. Listen to me. Listen to me. >> Hurry up. Just get in the car. >> Miss, listen to me. Okay. I'm going to ask you again. Are you willing to go through standardized field sobriety test or SFSDs? >> No, I I I actually just want you to call my husband. >> All right. So, you're not going to do them? >> You want to arrest me? >> Are you not going to do the test? It's a yes or no. It's a yes or a no. >> Nope. You're not going to Nope. You're not calling anybody. >> So, are you going to Are you going to do the test? Yes or no? >> Are you going to do the test? Yes or no? >> Are you going to do the test? Yes or no? So, first thing I'm going to ask you >> recording? >> I'm sorry. >> Make sure you're recording this. >> Yeah, it's recorded. Yep. All right. So, listen. First thing I'm going to ask you, do you wear any glasses or contact lenses? >> I do not. >> Okay. Uh, do you have any eye injuries? >> I do not. >> Okay. Place your feet together, hands down by your side, just like this. Okay. I'm not going to lie, you make me a little anxious, but >> my cousin is like getting out of the car. That's making me nervous. >> All right, she's fine. We're fine. We're fine. All right. What do you want me to do? >> Okay. All right. Place your feet together. Hands down by your side. Okay. You see the tip of my pen here? You're going to follow that with your eyes and your eyes only. Okay. Don't move your head at all. Just follow with your eyes and your eyes only. Okay. Do you understand? Yes. >> Any questions? Can you put your hair back, please? >> Why? >> So I can see your eyes. >> No, I like my head. >> Okay. >> See the tip? Okay. Oh, keep your head straight. >> That's a little difficult for any human, but I'll do it. I'll do it. >> Okay. >> Maria Buchcci clearly thought her status would get her out of this. But the moment she starts acting entitled, everything got worse. During the horizontal gaze nestagmas test, she can't even follow the basic instruction to keep her head still. A huge red flag in field sobriety testing. Keep watching because from here, her behavior spirals fast. >> Are you going to follow it? >> Only because of the light. I turned at the last second. So listen, I'm going to give you another opportunity. You going to follow this? Yes or no? >> Yes, I did it. >> We're going to try that again. Okay. >> I thought I did it, but the light was like blurring. >> Nope. Nope. >> Do you want me to get caught? Like, what are you doing? >> I'm not doing anything, miss. Okay. >> Yeah. >> Uh are you willing to do the test? >> Not really, but I'll do it if you're entertainment only. >> It's just a yes or no. >> Actually, what's my other option? My attorney? >> Nope. You can say no and we can move on. And >> And what's a no? What's a no? cuz I want to take my cousin home. I want to go home. You want to make it a big long day. >> It's just a yes or a no, miss.
