I had a glass of vodka that was there that wasn't for cars that was for people did you know you did that I can't just walk home no no you're under arrest why can't I drive my car because you're drunk on June 1st 2022 in The Quiet City of Eau Claire Wisconsin a bizarre incident unfolded in the early hours of a Tuesday morning it was around 5 30 a.m when local authorities were alerted to A peculiar situation a vehicle with a blown tire was reportedly driving on a pedestrian Trail raising concerns for the safety of both pedestrians and the driver responding to the call the police arrived at the scene they discovered that the vehicle had not only ventured onto The Pedestrian Trail but it also crossed the iconic Phoenix Park Footbridge fortunately the Footbridge remained unharmed but the same couldn't be said for the vehicle itself the officers found the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop [Applause] here's some stuff news appeared to be driving on a flat tire it looks like he drove over some stuff yeah I'm trying to get back to my hotel room I'm from Minneapolis okay to drive over a bridge a little bit ago no because that's how this whole thing started was some sort of driving on the bridge flat tire the fly Tire didn't have Nutella over there okay where'd you hit I don't know it was like a rock or something okay you haven't have ID on you um no I don't accept my aunties but I can give you my name okay is there a Wisconsin or Minnesota Minnesota do you have anything extra with your name on it no I don't is this your vehicle it's my aunties okay what's your name Amanda Maria same as it is in Minnesota 0.08 okay I know you said you think a little bit about that what do you think you'd be at right now way under that you think you'd be under a 0.08 yeah okay all zeros there no okay yeah what's gonna happen is if you got any priority of your eyes no in the state or any other state no okay bunch of paperwork to go through processing Etc like that as long as we can get a hold of your responsible party you'll be released to that person you can call and text and make those arrangements okay if not then you have to wait in jail until you sober up all right so come this way over a broken Tire yeah you that's what I started this that and the whole driving over pedestrian foot Bridge thing all right yep call your aunts first because that vehicle is going to need to be then with the Eau Claire Police Department I believe you're her aunt is she driving her car okay uh so your car has been damaged uh she's been driving under the influence uh she actually drove over the Footbridge in Phoenix Park uh the one meant for pedestrians we're not entirely sure what she struck but the front wheel passenger side wheel is completely down to the rim black back passenger wheel appears to be blown as well it's still intact but there's a bulge in it so I imagine that one's been popped as well so the other thing is um with this kind of an arrest she does not have to go to jail if you'd be willing to pick her up and assign for her and take responsibility for her she could be released to you this is a ridiculous what's ridiculous you guys taking me to jail for nothing first of all you're not going to jail your aunt's coming to pick you up then why can't I drive my car because you're drunk I'm not drunk okay I swear you guys are all clearance I have nothing else to do you drove drunk over a pedestrian Footbridge hit stuff and kept driving if you think that's nothing better to do then that's your own opinion well you're not in Minneapolis Oh I'll go back good no offense that involves driving or operating a motor vehicle while you're under the influence of alcohol or drugs or both yeah or you are the operator of a vehicle that was involved in an accident that caused the death of great bodily harm to or substantial bodily harm to a person or you are suspected of driving or being on duty time with respect to a commercial motor vehicle after consuming an intoxicating beverage this law enforcement agency now wants to test one or more one or more samples of your breath blood or urine to determine the concentration of alcohol or drugs in your system not gonna happen if any Test shows more alcohol in your system then the law permits while driving your operating privilege will be suspended if you refuse to take any tests that this agency requests your operating privilege will be revoked and you'll be subject to other penalties the test results important see the test results or the fact that your fuse testing can be used against you in court if you take all the requested tests you may choose to take further tests you may take the alternative test that this law enforcement agency provides free of charge you may also have a test conducted by a qualified person of your choice at your expense you however will have to make your own arrangements for that test will you submit to an evidentiary chemical test of your blood yes or no no okay while doing on the breathizer no I'm missing taking me to jail I'm going to Minneapolis I don't give a [ __ ] I'm shouted to the PD for release you need anything else okay have a what okay that's what Bree and take a picture of my face and if you put me in jail hold clear morning doing better than that driver yeah arrested for OWI so I mean she was driving it as is so I mean you can't make it worse yeah that's fine I'll uh I'll just back it up and then I'll get up in front of it or whatever you want me to block anything or just bet get out of your way you don't even have to stay if you don't want to and then you'll be released I want to go to one side nope do my fingerprint nope I want my [ __ ] part I can't answer it because I'm in the Bank of the squad car for some [ __ ] off my hand what's up willing to talk to me now no okay let's sit for OWI first which is civil in the state of Wisconsin I'll go to jail because of that you don't go to jail and you want to go to jail unless um we cannot find you a responsible party and then that's the only option until you're sober so it sounds like your aunt was gonna be your response okay let's get your aunt started we're gonna [ __ ] leave her house you don't want to be released to your aunt I need you to uh call her on your phone here okay give her a call and tell her she needs to come to the Eau Claire Police Department I'm calling her I can't unlock my phone I don't even know how to I like this phone 's car [ __ ] it he is my kid in my hotel [Music] I mean take away from this is that you have a mandatory court date of July 5th at 1 30 P.M you do have to show up to that if you do not a warrant might be issued for your arrest and then we have to go through this all over again um in addition to that mandatory court date you're receiving several citations the first one is the actual operating while intoxicated or well under the influence citation um like I said in the state of Wisconsin the first offense is civil so you're getting a citation for that the next citation is for operating without a valid license the next citation is for operating a motor vehicle without proper tires because one of your tires was um just the rim it wasn't actually a tire anymore the fourth and final citation is for driving on a sidewalk okay you're also going to get a copy of the big long thing that I read to you that that's the informing the accused form it talks about the chemical tests that I requested and that you refused because you refused it the blood test what oh no uh well you already refused it so we're kind of past that point at this point all right um because you refused it I'm submitting what's up well because you refuse the blood test that I that I read and requested I'm submitting a notice of intent to revoke your operating privilege uh you're already revoked in the state of Minnesota this would be for the state of Wisconsin do you have any questions about any of that nope okay can you take this handcuffs off they gotta stay on a little bit longer oh my [ __ ] God all right I just have to have her sign the responsibility agreement and then I will go through the wrong door what's up oh that's fine I'll get her attention there you go give me one minute so I I'm not sure what's been explained to you so far um essentially since this is first offense for her it's a civil matter in the state of Wisconsin um so if we can find a responsible party who's sober willing to take responsibility for her will release her without her having to go to jail okay are you willing to be that responsible party so Jerry's Towing towed the vehicle so you'll just have to give him a call and go pick it up I have no shoes I know I noticed that when you got in my car I they might be where are my shoes they might be
