so you've done what total at 9 19 years all for narcotics no don't grab me now you're about to go to jail on October 26 2020 Carrie Jarvis has been detained by the police at a traffic stop at a gas station in Daytona Beach Florida what's up the apartment right there yeah again no weapons or anything in here man other than that knife there he has it okay just don't make any movement I appreciate it man foreign yeah that's fine when's the last time you got in trouble when did you get out of prison nine months ago would you serve time for it was selling drugs what kind of drugs what kind of drugs but crack that's what I was going though okay how long did you do six years six years for crack I got you before that you're 13 years ago so you've done what a total at 19 years all for Narcotics roll everything stepping out working uh consultation you work at bubble gums what'd you do there saltation very nice I got two kids I'm 40 years old now I'm over there I don't hate that I still gotta wear all this I get stereotype man just you know that's all it is that's all it is it not on probation or anything from the last time you went to the county no what was that arrest for that they dropped you said thank you session possession it was like three people went to jail oh so it's mutual possession because nobody admitted to it so it's like what someone in the center console or cup holder I just bought this my life is good I paid all my calls I paid I've been working saved my money okay my license legit finally I Ain't Got You know what I'm saying I got insurance on my car [Music] all right yeah and again there's no weapons nothing to listen to the vehicle man okay I got you yeah so wrong [Applause] when I did something wrong with him oh yeah when you're exiting private property crossing a state sidewalk or city sidewalk onto City roadway you must treat it like an actual stop sign coming to a complete stop and then proceed against the intersection um also you can have this stuff hanging from your rear view because I mean per statue it it is illegal because it it's technically obstructed driver's view because you can't have anything that didn't come with the vehicle etc etc hanging from the rear view mirror on that no you're good man it's a minor petty little thing yeah but I didn't know that I have to have these though right yeah you can have like your fresheners and stuff yeah you just can't have like excessive bulky stuff hanging across they actually feel good uh actually getting full time driver's license yeah I heard that is being questioned by Officer James McKenzie after running a stop sign Mackenzie has turned on his body camera Jarvis is asked to hand over his license and registration but Mackenzie is already suspicious and wondering whether or not Jarvis is hiding weapons in his car Jarvis is now being questioned about his past crimes completely irrelevant to him running a stop sign good Ness so you said we can search the car okay okay well here's the thing well my partner is behind you and prior to activating his lights and Sirens he observed part of movements which is movements into certain areas so we're gonna check where those movements were and only where those movements were okay you step out of the vehicle please step out of the vehicle please officer Marvel Tucker returns with a warning he also demands to search Jarvis's vehicle both officers are suspecting Jarvis of hiding dangerous weapons and substances in his car Jarvis doesn't want his car searched he has a right to say no but officer Tucker is insisting he asks him twice more Jarvis says no and that he hasn't done anything wrong under your seatbelt because we don't know if you're hiding weapons guns grenades anything man we're doing our job so we're just doing our job sirs please step out of the vehicle nothing wrong though man please step out of the vehicle we observe furtive movement so we are just doing our job [Music] Evan sit back there no I don't want him standing right next to him he can't he can't stand next to him [Music] case law backs it up where we can search where that was because we don't know if you're hiding weapons trying to access a weapon no it doesn't come on that don't happen if there's nothing there there's nothing there man then you go on your way that's it as simple as that no no I just pushed my call man get out of the car no don't grab me now you're about to go to jail don't blab me man get out of the car don't do me like that man get out of the car I want to talk to somebody get out of the car get out you don't see this [ __ ] man [ __ ] Jarvis gets out of the car officer McKenzie moves over to the driver's seat Jarvis wants to speak to a superior but his request is blatantly ignored he then asks the officer if he can watch them inspect the car they tell him that he's not allowed to watch Jarvis decides to get back into his car and drive off the two officers forcefully attempt to remove Jarvis from his vehicle Jarvis steps on the gas and the SUV speeds off down the street officer McKenzie falls to the ground officer Tucker on the other hand jumps into the vehicle next to Jarvis Tucker is placing his hands on the steering wheel and holding onto Jarvis this causes them to crash into a ditch [Music] [Applause] okay that is crazy man no you did it to yourself two officers are injured during the incident and Jarvis is arrested on multiple felony charges including two counts of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer and aggravated fleeing Jarvis has been held without bond and has spent 369 days in prison the state has since dropped all charges against Jarvis but the damage has been done Jarvis has revealed that this incident has cost him not only time but also his house his car and his children he is suing the Daytona Beach police department and the two police officers individually for violating his civil rights a judge has reviewed the video footage and has stated that the injuries that the police officers have obtained were from their own illegal activity officer McKenzie and officer Tucker have violated three departmental standards directives this includes unlawfully detaining Jarvis after his first denial of consent violating Jarvis's fourth amendment by illegally searching his vehicle and placing Jarvis under arrest officer McKenzie has been given a written reprimand officer Tucker on the other hand has been terminated for another incident at work the police department hasn't commented on Jarvis's lawsuit but it is an ongoing case
