a three-car crash at Route 35 South in mlan Avenue the vehicles involved included a 2009 Toyota Camry a 2006 Audi and a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta as officers assessed the scene and spoke with the drivers they eventually made contact with Julia the driver of the Toyota Camry it didn't take long for officers to to suspect something was off the strong smell of alcohol and visible signs of impairment raised immediate concerns when questioned Julie admitted she had left her aunt's house and was headed to Lavalette when asked if she had been drinking she admitted to having three beers earlier that evening with clear signs of intoxication officers initiated field sobriety tests and what unfolds next is captured on body cam this video starts with officers making contact with one of Julia's victims and from there things take a turn and here's the kicker this isn't Julia's first DUI offense so how does this all play out for her watch the full footage and decide for yourself should independent samples of your breath blood or urine for independent testing if you refuse to provide samples of your breath you'll be issued a separate summons for the refusal a court mayate find you guilty of both refusal and driving while intoxicated if a court finds you guilty of the refusal you'll be subject to various penalties including license revocation of up to 20 years a fine of up to $2,000 installation of a ignition interlock and referral to an intoxicated driver Resource Center can I just like pay please let me finish these penalties may be in addition to penalties imposed by the court for any other offense of which you were found guilty you have no legal right to have an attorney physician or anyone else present for the purpose of taking the breath sample you have no legal right to refuse to give or delay giving samples your breath any response from you that is ambiguous or conditional in any respect to my request that you provide breath samples will be treated as a refusal to submit to breath testing even if you agree to take the test but then do not follow my instructions do not properly perform the test or do not provide sufficient breath samples I will to the Point Pleasant Beach Police Department for further processing once at the station Julia was read the standard statement for motor vehicle operators but refused to submit breath samples further complicating her legal situation after being booked Julia was placed in a holding cell while officers attempted to contact someone to take responsibility for her yeah with no success in reaching her friends she was eventually released to her aunt who signed the potential liability warning on her behalf J Jula received multiple citations including DUI refusal to submit to chemical breath testing reckless driving careless driving and failure to possess driver registration court records reveal this wasn't her first runin with the law Julia had previously been arrested for DWI in Lakewood New Jersey on June 28 2020 her history includes multiple traffic violations including driving with a suspended license in several New Jersey towns this latest arrest only adds to her growing record and
