I appreciate that. >> Police reports indicate this incident began because the female in the white top and black shorts, identified as 18-year-old Patience, was kicked out of school and had accused the victim of being the reason why. In response, Patience allegedly gathered two of her friends to attack and rob the victim. Her two friends being an 18-year-old female named Dacada and another 12-year-old female whose name we will refrain from identifying for privacy. While the 12-year-old was initially able to leave the scene before being arrested, she was found by police at the same park 2 days later [music] and was taken into custody. Patience and Dacada were both taken into custody the day of the incident. In the witness's video that captured the entire assault, two unidentified males can be seen stealing items from the victim's backpack. They reportedly stole her wallet that contained a Cash App card, her credit card, her DoorDash card, her birth certificate, her school ID, and her state-issued ID. Before the victim was able to lock her cards that were stolen, one of her stolen cards was used at the corner store that officers investigated. The victim was then instructed to cancel and report all of her stolen cards so they could not be used again. As of the time of publication, the two males who stole her belongings have not yet been identified. According to court records, [music] Dacada and the 12-year-old female were all charged with battery and disorderly conduct. They are all presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. >> Literally 100% of student participants reported experiencing, witnessing, or being aware of acts of bullying during the 2021 and 2022 school year, according to a national survey conducted by the US Department of Education. While the bullying in this body cam footage is kicked up at an extreme, it shows the number one thing you should do if you experience it, report it. If an authoritative figure is able to step in, they will very likely be able to help, just as the officers did in this incident. Bullying isn't just limited to school grounds. It happens everywhere at every age. And the first step in preventing it is being brave enough to step forward to not just protect yourself, but to protect someone else who may need your help. And when I was about 16, I remember walking to the bus in Northeast Philly after school. As I turned the corner, I saw a kid a little younger than me surrounded by about four guys probably my age. And I'm thinking to myself, it's none of my business, maybe I should just keep moving. But as I looked back, I saw them going through his pockets, and that's when I decided to do something. I started to sprint towards them, and they did exactly what bullies do. They all ran in different directions.
