What's up? This is door handle. Oh, wow. He was I'll just tell you real briefly how that happened. I was down there getting Over here? Yeah. Look at that lady back there. He was down there with the other guy that just left. Said I mentioned something I had a brain injury. Sorry to hear that. Okay, I'll read you. And he took off over here and then I got done and I went out. I couldn't think of anything and apparently he had a gun. Sure. Yeah. Good guy. I was going to ask you to do that. Said a prayer. And I had my stuff right in my hand like this with the actual gun. Like that and all of a sudden he got in and went to his car right over here down this row. And then kind of I ran all after him so I started hitting on his window. I went to get his handle here like that. Broke off. I fell back. He took off. Did you get his side? I got a part of his license number. That's what I mean. I got it. Yeah. I didn't get the whole thing. I got two It was a silver silver SUV. I don't know exactly. This morning I just tried to stop him. Do you mind when you come back, can you bring a statement for him? Yeah. I'm going to see if Yeah. All right, give me one second. Do you have a manager here? I am. You are? Do you have surveillance footage? We do not. Um I did call my corporate officer or auditor and they said it may take like a day or two, but I do have the gentleman's ID cuz he was here trying to Um so he he was trying to what? Attempting to cash a large personal check Uh-huh. that we refused so that's how we were able to Uh Did he give you his ID? Yeah, I have a picture of it. So, we're allowed to give it to you. Oh, yes, please. Thank you. Yeah, no problem. So, he he spoke to you in here, you said? Yeah, I was at the end when he was saying or Well, I think he was run down the guy just left the worker. Mhm. Talking with him, you know, and you hear him say, "Well, yeah, I got a brain injury. I can't work." And I said, "I'm sorry to hear that." Seemed like a nice guy. And then he took off to do something and I went out there to my car and he said, "Can I pray with you?" Sure, you know. Said a little prayer like that. And where was he parked? And I'm right here this blue car. >> Uh-huh. The next row over about probably five to six down. Okay. And uh just talked like that and then he just grabbed it and ran to his car and I kind of took off, got in, locked it, of course. And he's laughing like he Okay. Get there and I beat on the window and I I grabbed this so I could grab and open it. Broke it off. And he just took off. And I got his license plate a little bit while he was going. So. He was probably a little over 5 5'9", I'm guessing. Slim. White guy. Light. Short hair. Uh Did he look a little like disheveled? Like was he dressed nice? Did he was he wearing like Just jeans. I I don't remember exactly, but I think just basic jeans or shorts or something like that. Nothing like he was homeless or anything. Okay. He was I think trying to get some money here, but whatever it was, he couldn't get it. So. I know, I should have just given it to >> when I that picture the license I should be able to if the car is assigned to him I should be able to figure out uh where he is and all that. Uh I can say an older second older this is a beat up SUV silver I don't know what kind it was. What's that? That's fine. As long as like I get his license information and all that. Cool. And did when you looked at him did that appear to be him? Um this is the actual gentleman who had something on his head. I didn't take care of him cuz I was a customer. Okay. Um That's all right. I can ask him too. Does that have the information of what he tried to cash on there? It does. Am I able to take that? Just to say he was in here trying to do something fraudulent a little bit. Mhm. So well we have this one where we had to scan the back of it too that was but this is my house. That's fine. How much How much was it for? That. 5,000 $5,000? So he came in and tried to cash a check for $5,000 and from a personal check of this person. Okay. Um we did not cash it you know for reasons that we discussed. Okay. And what led you to believe that exactly? Um well the handwriting is shaky. Uh-huh. Um my as assistant was he was like asking me questions very fidgety body language um fingers that sort. And it just didn't make sense. Yeah. So Okay. I just had asked. So I So he just in generally just looked a little suspicious. Okay. Mhm. So actually I am going to I'm not they said I can cooperate. Cool. Thank you. I'm not going to put their name in the report or anything. I am going to block out account information or something like that. All right. Thank you so much. Um did you witness any of it? Did you witness like him taking the money? You just saw him come in, that was it? All right. Do you care if I get your first name? Juanita? All right, cool. Thank you. Um we can go out here. I'm going to give this to him so he can run this. This is him. Huh? He tried to cash the check. Oh, did he? Okay. Um so on the front here, I don't need like your hair color and all that, but if you could put like your phone number, your email, your driver's license number. Yeah, like I was telling her I I have a brain injury, short-term memory loss, so if I have have to question, I'm not being dumb or anything, I just Okay. No, no, you're good. You're fine. And then on the back, so ignore this. Um well, if you have a description, you can put them on here. Um for suspect, but then on the back is going to be your narrative. Okay, so write what happened. Just initial there saying that everything you put on there is true. And then right here, either sign on the top or the bottom. Top one is I will prosecute, bottom one is I refuse to prosecute, and then just a signature there. Okay. Okay. So just this right here at the head or the whole thing? So this here, but like I don't need your birth date and all that, just license number, email. Yeah, and then that's the suspect there. So whatever information you have on him, you can put it there. No problem. He just prayed with the guy, and seconds later, the guy snatches his cash and runs. That shift from kindness to betrayal is wild. Yeah. You're going to teach him Take my wallet. You're going to teach him No, no, you should keep your wallet. Don't read my wallet. Yeah, keep your wallet. Keep all that yourself. Watch out with his elbow. He's got operation on my left elbow. I got third degree burns on my Yeah, look at that. Okay, you want the fire department to come check you out? Maybe you can drop him to the hospital or something, you think? Something like that. Yeah. I I Yeah, I messed I messed up big. They can go to You know, make sure you get him to a hospital. Okay. You have everything you want to talk about? Fire 241, can I get FD41 in reference to burns on the suspect? I don't want anything. I'm not hungry. You have anything on you? Any weapons or anything like that? Oh, yes, sir. What's your date of birth? Yeah, you got you want to take it out of your pocket? Do you only have burns on your legs? Uh yes, ma'am. Are you sure? Yes, ma'am. Yeah, he's got to go to the hospital. I I I I I made a I made a I made a big mistake. I made a really big mistake. What is this here? Um those are mechanic gloves. I usually ride with them when I'm riding my bike and I have calluses on my hands and then my thumb my thumb is burning this thumb right here. I like dislocated it cuz I was going really fast or something. This is money? Yeah, this is change that that that the guy gave me. >> I have my legs Is it just on like the backs of your legs you think? So you see that? Mhm. That whole side and then this whole side on this side. Okay, I see the blisters and stuff. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court. Do you understand these rights? Okay. Do you want to talk to me? Um what do you want to talk about? Okay. So, I what I want to talk to you about is what happened at the gas station today. Oh, okay. Okay. So, you want to talk to me about that? Well, I just I was having a rough time. Okay. And and if I'm being honest, I I just wanted to try to like reset my life. Okay. I was trying to try to reset my life. No. Yeah. And and living here, it's like I feel like sometimes like I'm in jail for like three years. Yeah, I got you. I can't grow. I can't grow. Okay. I was getting closer to God and like I told myself I'm going to do anything I need to be successful. And if I have to try to get away with whatever, like I think he was trying to get money. Like I'm thinking Yeah. And I didn't want to do it. Like Man, I can't lie. I prayed to the guy Yeah. and everything. And I used that as like a way to like take his money. Yeah. Okay. And I and I was making out. I was making out with Okay. I appreciate you for being honest. So, like you What did you go there initially for? Um, I went there to try to to try to cash a check that I got like a long time ago to see if I could cash it. Uh-huh. You know, cuz I was doing like wholesale real estate and I was trying to help out my family here and whatnot. I was like you know, asking him some questions about what what can you get and you get like some good deals when he's talking to you. How much do So, I just said Yeah. So, you went there to cash a check is what you're saying? Pretty much. Okay. I was trying to check the guy. Most of the wholesale real estate you have to find people properly. Yeah, we have the fire department coming to look at him. Um looking at a living contract or believe Just to hopefully at least wrap him up until we can get him transported. And then you have a place to live in the contract. So, I just might have to lie to this guy so I can have a place to live. Yeah. When I didn't have a place to live. Okay. And then so you you saw the guy there and then What? Followed him outside and told him I wanted to pray with him. Well, he was talking about he had a headache. Uh-huh. He was saying something about his head was hurting. And like, bro, but truthfully, my heart did go out to him. Yeah. >> my heart really did go out to him, but I'm not going to lie like I know like I'm not really good. Yeah. And he's talking to me. He had his hand kind of like how your hand is. Yeah. But with my other hand. Yeah. >> And then I was like, I kind of like grabbed it. So like he's talking and he's like kind of like rumbling on and I'm kind of like trying to cut the conversation. >> Uh-huh. And then I was just like He says his heart went out to the victim, then used the prayer to steal from him. How does someone go from that moment to this? Well, I I I was trying to pull in somewhere to like be chill. Like to hide it and then just drive off again during the day again. Mhm. But I was like the only thing I'm really good at is lawn care. That's like my bread and butter. Like I can make some money doing lawn care, I know it. So there was like a little detergent in the back. So you know, I had like five bucks on me. So I poured out the detergent and I filled it up with as much gas as I could and I told myself I was going to go and try to find a weed eater or push mower Mhm. and use Mr. James's truck to just make money. Just make money. I wasn't going to come home until I like made enough to pay him back for his car. Mhm. Until you know, but when I pulled it into that place, trying to like put sticks down on the ground so I can have somewhere for the truck to like have a platform for the the Kia to have a platform. Mhm. So I can like back it out without being noticed. Mhm. I uh So when I put the detergent into the into the into the the car, right? Into this seat, the top wasn't all the way on, so some gas had fell on the seat. Okay. And I was smoking a Black & Mild. And so I flicked the ash and the ash went down and hit the seat and it it lit on fire. And by then I already grabbed the detergent and I put the detergent behind me and as I'm putting it behind me some fell on my leg. Mainly on this leg on the right leg you drive it it fell on this leg. And I put it behind the the the right seat. And then I'm trying to put the fire out but it's getting bigger and bigger and bigger and my now my leg is like and it's like catching on fire. So And this is when I was already there trying to park and hunker down for the night and just be out of the way. Mhm. And then um after that I uh opened the back the back of the car like the back the the hood the the trunk trunk and like the air flow that went through it like through the fire like way more and then I just freaked out and I took off. And I took off and I was walking behind the um when Dixie Mhm. and there was a bike there. So I jumped on the bike and just kept on riding. And I saw a trash bag and I poured the trash bag out and put like my stuff in it my little clothes and stuff and I kept on going and I kept riding. And I kept on um and I kept on riding. You know I went all the way down to Oviedo and I got to the UCF Catholic church center whatever it was. And I said like hey do you guys have like a first aid kit? And I didn't tell them about the car. I told them I was at a buddy's house and we were jumping over a bonfire and we were drunk. Yeah. That was the only thing I could come up with without having to tell them like you know I kind of just like took the car and wrecked it and then because of my stupidity driving thinking I can do lawn care by myself working lawn care in a Kia that's not even mine. You know I didn't I I know how to explain that so so I just made up a [ __ ] story and was like 49 we were jumping over fire and I put my right leg down and I went into like a little pit and then I like just fell straight down, you know? And then after I like fell straight down, um my legs got caught in the fire and I spun out and the log hit my leg, but that's not That's not what happened. It's what happened with Um did you count the money when you took it from him? Um no, I did not. Okay. I did not. Did you spend any of it? I spent I bought What did I buy? I bought a Black & All right. And was there any money in your wallet before? Um there was like 20 bucks. Yeah, 20 bucks in there. >> 20 bucks. Okay. You said you bought a Black & Mild. Yeah, I bought a Black & Mild with And there was a five in the stack that he gave me. So, there's a five in the stack he gave me and I took that five and bought a Black & Mild. Okay. And I put the rest of the coins in that little black bag that my dad gave me earlier filled with coins cuz I was asking him for coins. Yes. If you had to guess how much money do you think was It was a bunch of 20s. Um maybe close to like $300. So, like $300? I think like close to $300 cuz there was a bunch of 20s All right. and yeah. I'm going to let them look at you real quick, okay? Okay. Um they're going to transport him to ORMC, okay? Yeah. And then after that he's going to go to Johnny Polk. What's that at? Seminole County Jail. What's Seminole County One prayer turned into a chase, burns, and jail time. What makes a person risk everything right after asking God for help? Drop your thoughts below.
