On August 25th, 2024, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle belonging to a woman suspected of shoplifting. >> Uh she said that she just came from Starbucks, not from Walmart. Uh so she was there, but earlier in the afternoon, so >> Okay. >> Yeah, but she does have a bunch of bags and stuff in the uh back seat for Okay. >> Okay. >> So I don't know why. >> So you said you left Balmer a couple hours ago. >> Yeah. And then it was in well maybe it was like an hour ago and then I went to um Goodwill after the drink that you might have for you. >> We're going to figure it out. >> Hey Campell, what time was that picture at? >> I mean she could be wrong. She could be wrong too but we just want to make sure that's not the case. Well, it is a case before we >> let you [Music] whatever it's called. >> You bought sunflower seeds. Uh, >> thanks. >> Were you going to show me that again? Sunflower seeds, a blender, cuz the camera shows you leaving at 405, not an hour. I mean, I don't know what they're >> You don't have a receipt or anything? >> I don't normally pick them cuz they fill them out. >> So, on your >> Yeah. What about your online order? >> You use the Walmart app? >> No. Oh, wait. Is there a secret or something? I thought I clicked the button, but >> honestly I >> So, do you bring your own bags in then? >> Yeah, usually. >> Okay. So, did you get all this stuff from Walmart? >> No. I don't have flowers in the bag. >> Oh, I saw them at Walmart, too. >> I didn't know. >> What's in the What's in the bags, then? Or what did you what did you what did you buy? >> I bought some frozen food, a piece of of pizza that's going to go bad. >> If it's in the bag, >> but I mean I don't know why they would accuse me of something like that. I mean >> I just walked out cuz I had paid and >> I don't know why they would have you pay for everything. That's >> Can you show me what's >> there? And >> so can you show me if you did it online then you would have had that order online on your phone? >> No, I didn't do an online order. >> You said you just told me that you >> Sometimes I click the button for paper receipt. Sometimes I click the button for mail receipt. >> So then why did you show me something on Why are you trying to show me something on your phone if you didn't do an offline work? >> I Because you can do e receipts. Yeah, but do you have one? >> I thought I could receipt. Maybe I put and just walked out. >> So, you don't have any receipt? >> No, but honestly, I mean packages. Um, and then she got frozen pizza, you know, bag. >> You got to wait to see what Walmart says. >> Did you use a a cashier or did you use a selfch checkout? >> On what? Which side of the store? on the the outdoor side or the uh was it the market side? >> Um >> I walked over there. >> You don't remember what? >> No, it was a market side and then I went to go look for something else cuz then I was like, you know what? Time to go cuz it's already 4:00. So, you went to the market side and then you left or did you go back in the store or >> No, I went back in the store to look for something else and I'm like, you know what? I don't need that. >> Okay. >> I don't know what I did with this. If I grab one or >> what? >> I said I probably >> So, you're you're not you're not telling me that truth. >> She can't right now. But how can you tell somebody that I put it in the bag? She said she never got a printed one and then she thought she went paperless but they never >> Did you use cash card? >> Um, >> she doesn't know. >> Cash. >> Used cash? >> Yeah. >> Okay. How much was it? >> It was I don't know like 40 >> 40 >> 40 >> all that stuff. The the two plants are more than $40. >> That's the answer from Home Depot. >> She's saying she used Do you use just tens, fives, 220s? >> Um 20. >> She used a 20 and two 10 >> apparently. >> Yep. >> Okay. Give me a few minutes. [Music] >> Sorry. >> I'm going to move our cars. >> Yeah. Just give him a couple minutes. He'll give us a call. >> And then he went back into the store is where he say >> Yeah. And then he walked out the other side. >> And then you walked out the other side. When loss prevention was trying to like get a hold of you and stuff, why'd you like keep walking? >> Because they have no right to >> They work for the store. >> They work for the store. It's your job. >> I get that. But >> I told them about that part. >> Yeah. But don't you see think it seems a little weird if someone from Walmart's asking to show you a receipt or for you to show them a receipt and then you say, "I have one, but I'm not going to show you." And then you just keep walking. >> I don't know if I'm stuffed in my bag. I'm sorry. >> So, how much stuff did you buy with your $40? >> I bought a barbecue pizza. >> A pizza. Um, [Music] some Pop-Tarts and um, what's it called? Granola bars. I got some lemon juice. >> Lemon juice. >> Okay. >> And I want to cook dinner later. >> So, lemon juice, granola bars, a pizza, and pop-tarts. >> No, I also got uh tea and >> sweet tea. Those five things. >> No. When I got uh >> Okay. >> Espresso. >> Espresso. Six. >> You want us to Can we look through your bags? So we can say, "Hey, these are the itemized things that she said that she bought. We can compare it to what they think that you took. If it's $40 worth, it's $40 worth." So, it's probably the easiest way to help you out in this case. You're saying you're telling the truth. I mean, if you stole, you stole. Did you steal? >> No, I did not. >> Okay. Do you want to prove your innocence and show what's in the bags? >> It just be so simple. If it was if I was in your shoes right now and I was with two >> I know you're just trying to keep your job but I don't like people >> I I get that. >> We're giving you the benefit of the doubt. Go home to eat my pizza to get my flowers home. I say officer, what are you talking about? Look at my bag. This is all I have. It was $40 what I just told you I bought for stuff. But you're you're not doing that. And that's just making it difficult for me to believe. We're giving you the benefit of the doubt and having you giving you the ability to show us what you bought. >> I I know. I can't see it though. >> I know >> cuz you did. >> Once you guys come in, you're going to start looking for everything. >> Is there something in the car that shouldn't be in the car? >> No, we're cut off. No, I'm serious. No, I just, you know, went to projects and stuff, but honestly, no. >> In the in the long run, we're not accusing you right now of stealing. We're investigating a theft that may have occurred. That's why we stopped you. It's because we got a license plate. Walmart said you were stealing. We're giving you We're giving you the We're giving you the benefit of the doubt to prove your innocence and you don't want to. And that's okay. But it would be so much easier if you just let us look in the grocery bags. Cuz if you did end up stealing, I'm not saying you did, but if you did end up stealing, we're going to find out. The officer that's at Walmart's coming and he has the video and he's watching the whole store video. We're giving you the benefit of doubt just so if you did not steal, you can prove your innocence and once he gets here it's a mistake. That's what's frustrating. We're trying to help you. >> Well, what do they want from me? >> Well, they're they're accusing you of stealing. They want to press charges. So, this is the deal, right? This is the deal. Let me talk. They know you took stuff. The other officer that was at Walmart is coming here. They saw you in the store with the bags. Okay. Did you get What did you get at Home Depot? Just the flowers. >> Yeah, the flowers. >> Okay. >> Everything from Walmart is in the bag. >> Okay. So, I'm going to take the bags cuz it's evidence. They just >> We got to figure out how much it is. >> It's It's not like what? Grand Theft is like $1,000. >> It's 300. >> 300 >> for felony retail theft. It's 300 bucks. >> No, >> it's >> so I have >> not that much. Honestly, it's not. >> I have to figure that out cuz I'm going to take the stuff and take it to Walmart to see how much it's worth. >> They love to pay for it. >> That's up to the officers coming. We They need to figure out how much it is. >> If it's 50 bucks, then yeah, they'll probably let you pay for it. If it's 300, >> no, it's not 300. Probably >> I don't know, like 150. >> Okay. >> But I think you got to afford it right now. >> I'm I'm going to get the bags out of your back seat cuz it's all evidence. Okay. >> Yeah. No. Can I just open up the back door for you? >> Yeah. I don't believe that he pays for those either. Home Depot. Okay. And I'm going to go to Home Depot if they have some cameras, too. So, I want you to be asking right now before I do that. not at >> Walmart [Music] for the flowers at Yeah, that was >> Do you have a receipt from Home Depot? >> No. >> No. >> She's admitted to Home Depot theft as well. All the stuff that's in there, she sings from Home Depot. I have the stuff from Walmart. >> You have a Walmart stuff? >> Yeah. >> With Walmart? [Music] Can I just pay for >> So this is all unpaid for. >> Yes. >> Yes. >> We just We need to bring it back to the store. >> I know. >> Is all this from Home Depot? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> We're going to collect it back cuz we need to get it back to the store. Okay. >> Can I pay for this? >> So here here's what I'm going to do. Uh >> you just put it in my car. I can do this part. >> Things happen today. We got to go. I'll tell you I'll put on the driver side of my car. I need to briefly [Music] >> see Mark 83. >> Wait, can I just leave it? Not leave my car right here. >> We're going to figure that out one moment. Okay. Are these too tight at all? >> No, they're fine. >> Let me double lock them so they don't squeeze up. >> This Walmart dress you have back here, these pants. Yo, that is old. Okay, take off your watch. >> The woman was charged with retail theft at both Home Depot and Walmart. Thanks for watching today's video.
