repeated following his loss of the 2020 election this is the true story of Tina Peters the Mesa County Clerk who was indicted on 10 counts including ining seven felonies for her part in trying to uncover election rigging in the County's election Tina Peters at the time was a GOP elected official and Colorado's most prominent election denier Peters was an active participant in a scheme to secretly copy the hard drives of dominion voting machines which she hoped would uncover election rigging that Trump claimed cost him his second term as president the voting machines used by by Mesa County were scheduled to undergo a manual update called a trust build in May 2021 a month earlier Peters spoke with Mike Frank a prominent conspiracy theorist who advised her to make copies of the hard drives in the event the trust build erased the voting data Peters would have preserved any possible evidence of election tampering Frank admitted to the Washington Post that he referred Peters to an IT consultant who was able to copy the data from the voting machines it was reported that Peters fraudulently used another Mesa County Employees ID card to allow the unnamed it consultant access to the Dominion voting machines on May 23rd 2021 when log reports generated by the machines indicated the data breach occurred a few months later Tina Peters spoke alongside other Trump supporters at the Cyber Symposium hosted by conspiracy theorist and CEO of my pillow Mike Lindell following the Symposium Dominion voting machine passwords appeared on the same online Forum used by Q of the qanon conspiracy and an internal County investigation into a possible data breach began County investigators learned that Mesa County elections data had been leaked Tina Peters along with her Deputy clerk Belinda nissle became the focus of their investigation into the data breach of the County's secure election equipment as a result of the investigation Peters and nisle were both indicted on February 7th 2022 Tina Peters attended Belinda nissley's court appearance where Peters was seen by multiple Witnesses and Court surveillance camera holding an iPad with its camera pointed towards the judge illegally recording the proceeding when the judge asked Peters if she had used the iPad to record the court proceedings she was dishonest with her reply the following day state investigators found Tina Peters in a Grand Junction Colorado restaurant they attempted to execute a search warrant for the iPad Peters refused to cooperate and actively resisted police were dispatched to assist with the
