Mom, I told her that she get to Tampa and she still acting like I'm just trying to get home. I'm not trying to go out. I'm not trying to go through this, man. >> I'm not trying to disrespect anybody, whether it's you, her, him, or him. I'm not I promise you. I swear to God, I am not trying to go down that route. I can walk off perfectly fine. You want to give me a test, straight test, I I swear to God, I'm not I'm not I'm I'm not I promise you I'm not there. I just got a little upset because I missed my flight. That is it. >> I've listened to you. Okay. Mhm. >> So, you've went past whatever is legally justified. Okay. I've listened to you. Southwest I had a problem with you. I don't know what that problem was. I was not there. Okay. But they wanted you to leave. You did not leave. >> I love you. Just send me a picture. You were still You were still in the airport. Okay. So, therefore, >> I'm the aggressor. >> I didn't say you're an aggressor. I'm saying >> that's what I feel like, man. But I it has nothing to do with being aggressive or not. >> But I feel like y'all are trying to make it like I'm the aggressor and I'm not. I'm just frustrated. I'm just trying to get home. I'm not I'm I promise. That's what That's what me on edge, you guys. You make me like I'm I'm just this aggressor and can you But ma'am, >> I just said put your foot in. This [ __ ] is bogus as I'm not even the aggressor, guys. Like, this is wrong. >> This [ __ ] is so bogus. Like, I'm in jail. I'm not even from Miami, you guys. >> It's all right. You're going to jail now. It is what it is. >> Oh my god. I'm not from here. I'm not from here, you guys. Can you please just hear me out? Oh my god. In Illinois, going into a restricted airport area without permission is a serious crime. It can mean up to a year in jail and a $2,500 fine. She was charged with trespassing and resisting arrest and banned from the airport for a year. Even though she said she was innocent and just wanted to go home, the law treated her like any other offender. We've all seen people make a big scene over small things. But today's story is next level. On February 13th, 2021, a woman named Erica stopped an entire Southwest flight just because she refused to wear a mask. Even after the crew asked her nicely, she wouldn't listen. In the end, every passenger had to get off the plane because of her. Man, how are you doing tonight? Man, >> we just need to talk to you outside real quick if you don't mind. >> Not kidding at all. Walk up in the room. The problem is that you wouldn't comply with the mask rule on airplane. Walk up. >> I did. You're the wrong person. >> No, they pointed you out. Okay. >> No, that's not me. >> Don't make this difficult. >> This isn't me. My mask has been on me and no one has spoken to me. >> Walk up here. >> No one has spoken to me. >> You are holding everybody. I don't know why you guys are making this up. That wasn't >> We're not making up. Can you just please go? >> You're the wrong person. You're the wrong person. What is the problem? My mask. >> Can you please exit the jet? >> You need to leave me alone. >> Captain, is this the woman that was causing the issue? Okay. >> What is the problem here? >> My mask. >> What? >> It was not me. Can you go? >> I need to be left alone. >> No, you're not. Let's go. Walk forward. >> You guys need to leave me alone. >> That was the wrong person. >> You need to leave. That's not me. >> Tell her she needs to leave. >> I'm leaving. I'm leaving. >> I don't need you guys around me. >> This is ill ill. >> A polite officer told Erica they needed to talk about her not following the mask rule. She seemed confused, saying she wore a mask and no one warned her. But once the crew confirmed who she was, police knew they had the right person. What Erica didn't know, her next move would only make things worse. >> Have to press charges. >> Would you like to make my lawyer? >> Would you have to press charges? >> Calling my lawyer. What it takes for her to leave? >> Are you kidding me? Stop. Stop. Okay. What? Stop. >> You're under arrest. >> Cuz of my mask. >> Turn around. >> What is wrong? Okay, I'll >> ask you to leave and you do it. >> Please. >> Stop resisting. >> What is going on here? Please stop. >> Put your hand behind your back. >> Stop. Please >> put your hand behind your back. >> I will comply. What do you want from me? >> Ma'am, can we ask you to leave? We asked you to leave. You want to leave? >> Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. You broke me. You broke my hand. Please. My finger hurts. >> Nobody's hurting you. >> Please >> put your hands behind the bar. >> Ma'am, comply. >> Stop. What is going on here? >> Ma'am, comply. >> Stop. They're grabbing me on purpose. You guys are doing this. Stop. Please. For God's sake, it was me. >> What is going on here? Am I being shut up? >> Come on. >> Wear a mask. >> I'll grab her stuff. >> During the CO 19 pandemic, wearing a mask on planes was a federal rule to protect everyone. If Erica refused to follow it, she could face a fine, a flight ban, or even criminal charges. But instead of backing down, she told the officers to leave her alone, insisting she did nothing wrong. >> I was my mouth. Please stop. Don't hurt. Stop. >> Stop resisting. >> Stop. I I'm not resisting. I'm not resisting. Stop. I need to call my lawyer. >> I need to call my lawyer right now. You literally broke my iPad after it is cracked. What is going on? Please leave me alone. Please stop. Ma'am, let me go. >> Stop. Stop. What is going on here? >> You're under arrest. >> For what? >> Trespass at the m. >> Please. What is happening? >> You broke my belongings. It is up. >> Can you stay here? We need a statement from you. I need to talk to my lawyer. I need to talk to my lawyer right now. I need to talk to my lawyer. This is unbelievable. That was not me. That wasn't me. I don't know who you're talking about. Please. That was not me. >> It wasn't me. I have people next to me saying it wasn't me. Cuz of my mask. >> No, because you wouldn't leave. >> I I'm leaving. Okay. >> I know you're leaving now. >> I'm sorry. Of course I'm leaving. I wanted to talk about this. No, you didn't want to talk about it. >> Because I paparazzied around me. People were taking photos of me walking off the plane. Obvious reasons. I wanted to discuss this in a different manner. Please. It wasn't my mask. My mask. Come on. I can't do this right now. This is not happening. >> Oh, it's happened. >> What is happening? >> You're going to jail. >> What are you talking about? Stop. >> Ma'am, please continue. Stop. Just walk. >> No. No. No. God. No. >> Ma'am, just walk. >> No. What? No. God, please. I can't afford this. >> We asked you to leave the jetway. You didn't want to listen. >> God, please. Please, please, please, please. Please, please, please, please, please. God, no. Please, please, please, please, please. >> Ma'am, I need you to walk. >> I'm going to get sick. I'm going to throw up. Please, please, please, please, please. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. I can't talk to my lawyer. This is not right. You guys leave. >> Outside the plane, things got even more tense. Erica kept saying she did nothing wrong and blamed the crew instead. She refused to cooperate and resisted arrest. And it looked like things were about to get even worse. >> Shut up. Please go. No. No. No. No. No. No. This can't happen to me. No. No. God. No. No. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Please go. Oh, please. Please. I can't do this. Can't happen to me. Oh my god. You guys, please stop. No. Please, please, guys. God, no. Please, guys. God, no. >> Ma'am, please don't do this. >> Listen to me. You got to do it. >> You're making this worse. >> Oh my god. >> We have you on camera with everything. >> Please. I'm sorry. >> You need to stop. >> Oh my god. No. Please. I'm so sorry. It's not going to get the screaming. Oh my god. You guys, I'm so sorry. Please. We asked you to leave. >> Please let me talk to you. Please, God. No. No. No. I can't do this. Okay, I want to leave. I'll leave. I'll leave. I'm so sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. Please don't do anything. I'm sorry. >> I'm going to put her in her back real quick. >> I can't. I'm sorry, you guys. I'm sorry. Please, God. No. Please. Oh my god. No. Please. >> After yelling and begging didn't work, Erica seemed to switch tactics. She tried to charm the male officer, hoping it would help her get out of trouble. But this move only made things worse. >> Officer, I'm I will do anything for you. I am so sorry. >> You got to go to jail, man. >> Officer, I am so sorry. >> I know. >> I will do anything. Please look at me. Please. >> It's okay. You got You just got to go to jail. >> Officer. Officer. >> Please. >> I don't have anything in here that's going to pull me. >> Nothing at all. You guys, please please I'm on my knees, >> ma'am. Stop. >> Please. I'm sorry, you guys. I'm sorry. I will do anything. I will do anything for you. >> Where's your Where's your license at? >> I don't know. I don't know. Officer, what's your name? I Adam, >> can you please look at me? Officer Adams, >> you got to go to jail. Why >> you're going to jail? Because they told you to leave and you refused to leave. >> I'm leaving. Please. Officer. Officer, look at me. Please. It's Valentine's Day. Please. >> You don't have >> I'm at the mercy. I'm at the mercy of you. You already said that you don't have marathons. >> Please, I will do anything. I'm so sorry. I'm leaving. I have to go. I leave. Can I please? Officer Adams. Officer Adams. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. Officer Adams out. >> Please level with me. I will do anything. I am so sorry. >> I am at your mercy. Officer Adams. Officer Adams. I'm at your mercy. I am at your mercy. >> I have. >> But you got to go to jail. Officer Adams. It's nothing. It's nothing personal. >> It's nothing personal for me. >> It's nothing personal. Please got to go. >> When her plan didn't work, the officer calmly told her she was under arrest for refusing to leave. Realizing it had all backfired, Erica admitted she was wrong and begged to be let go, but it was too late. And the officer's response left her heartbroken. >> You didn't have to arrest me for this >> over there. >> This doesn't have to be an arrest. >> This doesn't have to be an arrest. >> Have a seat right here from getting in. Please, this doesn't need to be an arrest. This doesn't Please. Officer. Officer, my bracelet was taken from me. >> It's in your bag. >> Not my David Yur gold bracelet. I want to make sure my >> It's in your bag. >> I know. It fell on the ground. >> Please. Please. This is too much. I I This doesn't need to happen. >> Oh, scratch it. >> No, I did not. >> Right there, brother. >> This is a lie. That's a lie. The officer calmly reminded her she was being arrested for not leaving when told. Through tears, Erica cried that she just wanted to talk it out, but no one gave her the chance. >> Why are you doing that? >> I'm simply reacting to your action. >> Officer, I'm sorry. >> Erica, I I don't disbelieve you. >> Yes, ma'am. >> I'm so sorry. Sleepless is >> Well, it was very simple instructions, so it should not be a misunderstanding. >> I'm sorry. You're right. >> I'm sorry. >> Okay. And I And I accept your apology. >> Where? >> That's not for me. That's not for me. That's not for me. >> Hi, boss. >> Okay. Stay in the car. >> Okay. >> He I You have to go. He's my boss. >> Please. Please. Please. I'm sorry. >> I have a boss to enter. >> I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. >> You had the chance to go once you arrest. >> I should have went. I should have went. I should have left. But for for God's sake, like I'm so sorry. This is for in the bottom of my heart that I'm this will never ever ever ever ever happen again. I'm praying to God. >> I'm at the mercy of you. This cannot happen. Right now the law. >> That's why that's what I said. >> I messed up. I messed up. I shouldn't have done. >> It's nothing personal. >> Should have just left. But to be honest, nothing personal, Erica. You're right. Not personal. >> I was wrong. >> Okay. So, I'm sorry. So, so you have to go. So, watch your foot. >> Please. I just want to go home. >> Watch your foot. >> But please, what's your name? >> Good. >> Officer, please. I'm telling you, it's time for Valentine's. I don't even have a date. >> Watch your foot. >> I just wanted to just go home. >> Watch your foot. >> I'm alone. >> Erica. Erica, put your foot. Erica, put your foot in the car. Do it now. >> Put your foot in the car and do it now. >> Thank you. >> Erica was charged with assault and resisting arrest. Luckily for her, even though one officer was hurt, that part was overlooked. All of this could have been avoided with a bit more cooperation and a lot less drama. On December 31st, 2021, one woman's refusal to switch seats brought an entire flight to a halt. Her stubborn stand didn't just delay takeoff, it emptied the whole plane. >> They did not take me off the plane. And I have a reason to go to Alaska. You guys messed up my flight ticket. >> What's going on? >> They messed up my flight ticket. I asked for an aisle. They gave me a middle seat. How is that my problem? >> Okay. So, >> this is all about the seat thing. Okay. Did they ask you talk to you about anything about changing seats? >> I told them. Then the girls let me sit where I wanted to sit >> and then they took me off the plane, >> but I walked off allowing. They did not arrest me. They did not handcuff me. They did not touch me to get off the plane. >> What's going on? So nobody that >> they need to let me either they need to buy me a hotel ticket and get me back to New York or they need to let me aboard the plane >> cuz I already board the plane. >> Okay. So, we'll figure out from them what's going on. >> Okay. We'll figure out because >> right now we're here for like your behavior. Okay. >> My behavior. Okay. I got a plane for the aisle seat. They gave me an E, which is a middle seat. >> That is not what I paid for. >> You have your ID? >> What does that have to do with anything? >> Cuz right now the police are here. We're going to find out the who, the why, the what. So, I just need to know. >> Okay. better ass. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> All right. >> Yeah. >> You're not going to be able to tell that blonde. >> Yeah. Let's go have a seat over there. >> Come over here. So that >> Let's go have a seat over there. >> All right. Well, you better get me a hotel. >> So, we're going to talk and figure out what Delta is going to >> Let's go have the seat on the corner. >> You can even move farther if you want. >> Wait, we need ideas. All right. So, >> so on your side, you requested a seat. You didn't get that seat. And now that's what I'm trying like we're here. Did you walk off the plane? They say like, "Let's get off the plane. Are you flying anymore?" As the officers talked to the woman, it was hard to calm things down. She wouldn't sit still and kept trying to overhear what they were saying. >> No, I'm trying to listen to you. >> You don't need to right now. >> I need to. It's my privilege. >> Good. It's your privilege. >> Okay. Thank you. So, don't tell me what I cannot and cannot do. >> Sit down. Sit down now. >> No. I would like to hear what people are saying. Just have a we can have conversation. >> I am allowed to hear what they are saying. >> Cuz I'm going to catch up with you. >> Okay. >> How is that been nice? Jaclyn, >> you better ask him if I'm talking. >> We're going to go now. Okay. Listen. Squirt you out. You're going to be escorting. >> I live in New York. >> Delta, >> dude. She faced charges for resisting arrest, both with and without violence, and for assaulting a peace officer. It started out like a normal day, but this flight took an unexpected turn. No one saw the confrontation coming, and no one would forget it. Officers were called to handle a disruptive passenger. What should have been a simple job quickly turned into chaos, turning an ordinary flight into a shocking scene for everyone on board. What's going on, guys? >> Hello. >> How you doing? >> Good. How are you? >> Good. How are you? >> Good. Delta. >> Okay. What's the call? >> I don't know whether she's taking something that she could have taken. They don't want you flying on their plane today. >> The passenger refused to leave. She didn't just say no. She put up a fight. There was a tense standoff as she ignored what the officers told her. Her words didn't make much sense, but she spoke loudly and angrily, making everyone feel uneasy. It was clear she wouldn't go quietly, and what followed was a surprising struggle. >> Okay, so you're going to have to get up. >> Yesterday made us wait and wait and wait. >> Yeah, that's the way it is. But right now I'm >> and that's fine and I will respect that. >> Okay. So I'm going to need you to grab your bag and just >> I did not do anything actually disrespect. No one's going to put their hands on you. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You won't. Yeah. Yes. You won't. >> In moments like this, emotions can take control and make everything worse. The passenger wouldn't listen and acted out of anger and stubborn beliefs. She spoke about freedom, justice, and religion to justify what she was doing. But it was clear this wasn't about reason. It was just a loud, messy argument. >> Okay. But I need you to get up. >> Yeah. >> You need me to get up? You may need me to get up. But you know what? I feel my need to do as a person just like >> you need to call. >> No, no. I'm going to do what I need to do. I'm going to say what I need to do. And if you you're going to do whatever you feel you need to do to me, right? So, I'm going to say what I am. >> The officers kept their cool even as the situation got worse, giving the passenger many chances to cooperate. But each time she refused, it became clearer that things were spinning out of control. What began as a minor issue had turned into a serious problem they couldn't overlook. >> Meant to say, No. To everybody, >> stand up, man. >> Everybody is doing >> You're going to get arrested if you do not stop. >> I'm already going to get arrested. >> You're going to get arrested if you don't stand up and get off the aircraft. >> You're probably already going to get >> You want to get arrested? >> I really stand up and get off the aircraft. Why? Why do you Seriously though, >> as things got worse, it was obvious this wouldn't end peacefully. Her words were scattered, angry, and sometimes made no sense. The officers staying calm and focused, prepared for the confrontation they could no longer avoid. >> Like seriously, why can you just tell me that? Like I'm actually asking you as a >> at this point. Here's what's happening. They're going to deplane the aircraft. I'm going to take you off the plane. >> That was already happening. She had moved from just protesting to creating a serious disturbance. And now she had to face the consequences. As the officers took her away, she kept talking. Her words were confusing, but her feelings were clear. >> You want to take it to the other side of just [Music] like what? All right. Make sure your fans for me, please. She stopped talking about fighting back and instead focused on an imagined bond. She fixated on a brief moment of eye contact, believing it meant something far more important than it actually did. >> Yeah, she's been it's been a lot of talk. I had to pull her off an aircraft. So, I don't know how she's going to act now, but she's been chirping the whole time. So, we'll see how it goes. >> All right. Step out. Are you going to comply with >> you two? Yes. Not with you. It felt deeply personal. In her mind, a quick glance turned into something bigger, like someone was trying to control her. But the officers stayed calm and focused knowing they had to stick to their job. >> No, that's what happened. Like, I'm sorry. That's what happened.
