neighbor and an acquaintance had entered his garage and punched him in the face following an argument the altercation continued in the street before the two men got into a vehicle and left the scene officers quickly began searching for the vehicle in order to make an arrest before it was too late I'm Tyler and this is your daily dose of [Music] crime hey he's out he's running out 22 he's looking at the back door around the back of the house toward the water stop right now you're going to get tased jump Fu up get out of the water now 11 swimm to the other side once officers managed to locate the vehicle of the aggressor identified as Philip McGraw they immediately attempt to stop him however McGraw jumped out of the car and tried to run away and threw himself into a nearby Canal the suspect was trying to evade the police and officers had to do everything they could to capture him how easy would it be if philli was so far from the shore Lo towards the house towards the end of the area however just as they were about to catch him he swam further into the center of the canal he was told that additional charges would be added for his actions but Philip asked for an explanation of appeared to be out of breath repeatedly questioning why was being arrested and didn't believe that he was guilty of anything however officers would explain the situation thoroughly before placing him suspect had fled and did not stop when he saw the officers Jones had helped McGraw Escape worsening his potential charges he resisted arrest and claimed innocence but the authorities knew exactly what he had done and how he had assisted philli in his getaway this is silly what it's silly that you didn't stop what the hell I didn't know I was supposed to I didn't see you guys come on now oh no [ __ tomorrow okay walk came home told Granddad he told he was going to go to Lowe's okay he getting ready I walk into the house tell my wife I'm going to Lowe's he get buber with Granddad says okay I'll walk out head him's out in the front yard talking to Granddad yeah saying that I S ask saying that I was smoking in Newport I show him in the cigarette I was like what do you me I'm not smoking in Newport okay he said that I took a pack of the cigarettes from them and I I was like I have my own cigarettes Kevin why would I take the cigarettes okay right so makes sense all that goes back to his house and then he's going off Sam stole cigarettes blah blah blah so I went over to talk to him about cuz me and him had conflicts in the past but you know the other day he gave my kids a bag of candy I don't know while it kind of pissed me off but I didn't I Ain trying to have no conlict didn't say nothing to him yeah he came over accusing me of smoking a pack taking a pack of cigarettes when I went to asking her a ride the load got you I was like I have no reason to steal your cigarettes have my own cigarettes and then he was walking back to his house and when he you know saying all that saying that I stole cigarettes from him I piss me off so I confront him about the bag of candy when I confront him about not giving my kids C here talking to my children he came at me okay and we got into a scuffle would be placed under arrest and McGraw was interrogated by officers to hear his side of the story and gather a statement about the incident Philip claimed he had gone to a friend's house named Kevin to ask for help with some things however after a misunderstanding over some cigarettes his friend accused him of stealing which led to a fight in the street as officers listened to his account it did not match up with his flight from the scene if the only issue had been the cigarette dispute why would he have ran like a fugitive from a serious crime um these guys are going to check you out make sure you don't have any injuries I want to understand how he came out you and all that but it's important that you get your medical attention so let these guys ask you the questions they got to ask him all that anything on you that's going to poke me stick in stab actually that ke I think I have Grandad's in my Park go against car how did Kevin attack you how did he come at you he just came at me like threatening like he just came like where was this at aggressive this like garage Street driveway was at his driveway yes and then whenever he started saying whatever coming aggressively towards me he started put his hands up and yeah just of course I'm what so saying you felt threaten CU his hands yes I felt threaten so his hands came that's the only reason I did that I didn't I didn't I didn't go confront him whenever he his hands come up like this like like this or like just fist on the side aggressively came at me and I seen his hand start to go up and above his head to the side like shoulder don't remember I'm not I don't remember details all right so he felt like he was about to get at you is what like he was about to hit you he was okay yes he came at me exress I started back up I started to left I started to back up and leave and then he we just started going at it and did you were you able to stop him from hitting you or did you get hit we both got hit where were you hit in the head I mean like where in your head I don't remember he hit me sever C time he hit me a couple times in the back of the head in the jaw and the neck like I mean all right um can you like flat flatten your hand out so I can see your hand all the Rocks hit your middle Knuckles the Rocks got cuts on the the the bottom of your finger from the Rocks yeah but yeah same with these I mean what see I didn't see this that was coming with concrete cuz me and him both fell down on the ground just like my KN me and him both hit the ground I mean he just aggressively came at me and we both went at it he hit me several times and we both just separated I got in the car of my granddad and that was it any marks in your head is there any reason why you don't have too many any Cuts or scrapes on your face and he's covered in blood what do you mean covered in blood exactly how it sounds he's covered in blood he's got blood all over his face his knees his hands show it off my no buddy my KNE budy Philip reiterated that it had just been a ridiculous argument over some cigarettes that Kevin had started and both men had ended up injured with blood on their faces and bodies it seemed mcra May avoid jail if his statement was true but for that to happen authorities needed solid evidence to back up the suspect's version of the events you pull your right hand out to the side that's perfect left all right so I still never got a clear answer why why run you stu because I mean I was obviously [ __ ] going to jail call him 10 anybody call him 1050 not asking for my story I was obviously going to jail I mean why do you think you going to jail because I know whenever an officer wants to come and talk and get my side of the story he's going to show up to the house and talk he's not going to have three cops waiting and blue light me to talk I mean come on so you just thought just because you were getting stopped in your history of police you figured the best idea was to just run no it wasn't the best idea it wasn't and smart ID it was very stupid on my part yes dumb for running and yes I did and it was not a good decision it was very stupid and I think I think the dad's 10:15 too I think that's what he means all right all right come on we going hop in here watch your head Lo you're getting in Philip McGraw was arrested and charged with unarmed burglary of an unoccupied dwelling simple battery petty theft and resisting an officer without violence he would be held on a $32,500 Bond James Jones was arrested and charged with resisting an officer without violence and held on a $500 Bond
