Some parents choose their whims over a child's life. >> You're going to be placed under arrest, okay? So, we're doing it outside so your daughter doesn't witness anything. >> Where am I going to go? >> You're going to go to the clinic, okay? >> I just I don't believe that you didn't know he was out of the car. And you just left. >> I didn't know he was gone. >> On May 15th, 2024, police were called to a McDonald's for a child left all alone. While delivery orders were being rushed out, a mother was nowhere to be found. And when the truth finally came to light, it was just heart-wrenching. >> Right here? >> Uh, what's up? [clears throat] >> Hi. >> Hey, how's it going? Hey, what's up, man? You doing good? I'm good. Bubbles? No more? Too slow. Hey, where's uh where's Mom at? She left? Do you have Mom's phone number? No? Do you guys Do you guys see if we got a DoorDash order that got picked up? Do you maybe have a phone number for his mom? Okay. Okay. >> He said he got dropped off over here, so I'm going to get camera footage. >> I got the order. >> You have the order? Does it have the >> but I don't know how to see cuz the address for the order. >> Will it show you her phone number? Cuz like usually the the person doing doing DoorDash >> She'll be back in 2 minutes. >> You Little man, did you already eat? You haven't eat today? What do you want? You want some food? Come here. You want You want like a cheeseburger or something? Get Get some food and then we'll get you dessert. Get some food first. No ice cream? You have water? You want cookies? All right. Do you like Do you like cheeseburger? You want or cheeseburger or chicken nuggets? >> That poor hungry child had to face the cold reality of being abandoned, all because he took too long in the restroom and slowed down her delivery route. She simply drove off, leaving him isolated and in danger. >> Was it you that originally saw Who originally saw him? >> I was working and I saw him right there. >> Okay. >> She was saying I didn't know she was saying I seen him when he was over here crying. >> Okay. Would you be able to just write a statement? Come here. On what you saw just so cuz we're going to I'm going to Yeah, this information Okay. And then if you can just tell me verbally Okay. verbally what you saw and then that way I can notify You have an idea what it >> It's in the car. I'll go get it. >> You're okay. If you can just give me Do you have Florida ID? >> Yep. >> Okay. Okay. You guys saw him without his mom? >> But I Yeah, I he was crying so I walked there and asked what was wrong. He said my mom left me. I was taking too long in the restroom. I was like, "What? Go in the store. Go in the store and out." >> Yeah, he went back in the store. >> Wait, what did you say the car look like? >> It was a silver SUV. >> Silver SUV? Were you able to tell what kind of SUV like >> No. >> Okay. >> It's like I feel like I knew it, but I don't. >> Right. >> See him. >> Yeah. >> No worries. >> I'll be okay. He's with you guys. >> Yeah, yeah, we're good. We're going to wait here. >> All right. >> Once her deliveries were finished, she wandered back to the scene as if nothing had happened. That calm look on her face was just chilling. It showed a complete lack of concern for her own child's safety. >> Hey! Hang on, hang on. Golf 11, send 12 with the mother. How are you doing, ma'am? What's your name? >> My name is Jamie Myala. >> Jamie Myala, do you have your ID with you? Hey, real real quick, he's okay, but we got him some food. >> Yeah, I didn't even know he left out of the car to go use the bathroom. And his I have five of them in the car, ma'am. >> Got you. Okay. >> So, I didn't see you when he left. >> Here, as the supervisor, let me stop this real quick cuz in 2 seconds what's going to happen based on the witnesses that are writing the statements, >> Mhm. >> we can we can just talk this up and just let us do our job, or DCF can come tonight cuz if I'm going to tell you right now, another backlash like that in my office, he'll come with me and so will them. >> No, I didn't know he left the car. Usually they >> Question is how quickly you want to take your kids tonight. >> I want to >> to take your kids with you tonight or not? >> Yeah, I want my kids to go with me tonight. >> it. Let us do our thing. DCF is coming. >> Okay. >> Last thing you need is a charge tonight cuz I'm more than willing to have them in my office and arrest you for this. >> It was >> Pop another attitude and you'll be in handcuffs. Do I make myself clear? >> Yes. >> How How old are your Hey, stop. How old are your other kids? >> 13, >> 13, Okay. >> seven, >> Okay. >> um five and four. >> So, here's the deal. I know you're doing DoorDash, right? I understand he went in to use the bathroom. >> I didn't see him. >> Stop talking. He went in to use the bathroom. Apparently, he was taking too long. I understand with DoorDash you're on a time crunch, whatever. But, regardless, you have a 13-year-old. You have a 13-year-old that could have kept an eye on him and that this whole issue would have been avoided. But, you leaving an 8-year-old at McDonald's in a public place, he doesn't know your number, he doesn't know where he's at. He's just left. Personally, I just I don't believe that you didn't know he was out of the car. >> If he got out of the car to go to the bathroom >> I didn't see him. I was at the >> he know Stop. Stop. Stop. >> Instead of holding her son, she stood there arguing with the officers. To her, that boy wasn't her own flesh and blood. He was just a piece of evidence against her. When they pressed her, she casually shifted the blame onto her eldest daughter and started complaining about how hard her life was. >> How would he know that you're saying he was taking too long and you just left? >> I didn't know he was in the >> You can ask my daughter. >> Either way, either way, there's >> Unlike any other crime, all I got to do is say you're the parent and take you to jail for it. You ain't got no >> Yeah. >> So, stop talking. Do you understand the seriousness of this? >> understand. I'm trying to tell y'all I didn't purposely leave my son. I didn't even know he was >> Whether whether it was Whether it was >> It wasn't literally till after I just did the delivery and I pulled up at the other McDonald's cuz I finally made enough money to give them food today. And that's That's when they they That's when my 13-year-old turned around and she said, "Where's King?" >> Okay. >> And that's when I started yelling. I was like, "God, he didn't tell me that he he didn't the car and he still didn't I rushed here as fast as I could. Like, I I would never leave my kids. >> Okay. Aliyah, right? >> Yes. >> What's a good phone number for you? Do you have a phone, right? I know you probably just sold Officer Baylor here. So, what happened when you guys came to McDonald's? How did King end up inside? >> So, he had to use the bathroom immediately. Um he had to use the bathroom. And now I see the bathroom. See how the thing went for the DoorDash when it come. And then um we came out. >> here. The thing is I I saw the door open, so I thought, "Oh, DeAsia and King came." So, we drove off. And then we went we delivered the person's food, and then we were like we're going back to the other car. And then then they said, "Oh, where's King?" And then we I looked back, and we saw our King back there. >> Okay. >> So, she came back. >> Okay. Did Mom say anything about King was taking too long, we got to go? >> No. >> Okay. Did >> Cuz she was actually about to cry cuz she was like calling out >> Cry Okay, before you guys left this one, did you or Mom know that King wasn't in the car? >> We thought he was. >> You thought he was? Okay. When did When did Mom notice that King wasn't in the car? >> When Ellen they said like, "Where's King?" We missed the King. >> Bless that young girl's heart. She tried her best to protect her mama, but she couldn't hide the grim truth. Forced to carry a burden far beyond her years, only to be used as a human shield when things went wrong. She's the real victim of this mother's negligence. >> Well, but she would she would she would never leave him. >> Who did Who did King go inside with? >> He went to the bathroom by himself. >> So, when you guys So, when you guys first pulled up here, who got out of the car and like what order? >> DeAsia and my mom. >> Y'all three got out? >> Yeah, we all did. >> And then after you guys got out, who was in the car? Isaiah? >> Isaiah and PJ. >> Okay. And then King got out after? >> No, King went in with me and DeAsia and my mom. >> And your mom originally. So, you Okay. So, yeah. So, he went in with you guys. >> Yes. >> Then when you guys came out, did you guys count and make sure you had everybody or how did >> Cuz So, I saw King come out the bathroom. >> Where were you guys at when they said that? Were they Were you guys you in the parking lot or were you guys like on the road? >> We're on the road. >> Like how far away? How long do you think you were gone? >> I don't I don't really know. >> Okay. >> We're we're not not really close to here. We're like a a neighbor I think our neighborhood here. >> down that way? >> Like Yeah. >> Okay. And how old are you again? >> 13. >> 13? Okay. You go to middle school? >> Yes. >> Okay. Do you know the difference between >> We go tell >> a truth and a lie? >> Yes. >> Okay. So if I said my shirt's pink, what it what would that be? >> A lie. >> That's a lie? What if I said my watch is black? What That's the truth, right? Okay. >> The truth wasn't in her words. It was on the shoulders of that 13-year-old girl. The interrogation completely tore through the mother's lies, revealing she knew full well the boy had been out of the car for a long time. >> So that means be honest, right? Do you know what that means? So if I said my shirt is pink, is that a truth or a lie? That's a lie, right? What if I said my ring is black? Is that the truth or a lie? >> The truth. >> That's the truth, right? Okay. So when you guys came to McDonald's, what happened? Who came inside? >> Me and my little sister. >> You and your younger sister? >> Me and my little one. >> Your your little sister? Did you guys come in with your mom? >> Oh, she she was she was in here. She was in here. We were doing that. >> She was already in? Did your mom see you come in? >> Me and my little sister were just arguing about her mom coming in. >> She watched you come in? Okay. Okay. You you told her you didn't talk to her? Okay. What about your other sister? Did you talk to her about what you were doing? >> No, my my my big sister was going in here and and then she went in there and she told me what to do and then and then she went back out and then what what did you do then? in, I went I went back out after [music] I came in the car. >> Do me a favor. Stand up. Stand up. And just walk over here, okay? Watch this. Come around here. We're not going to do this in front of your kids, okay? So, we're That's why we're coming over here. Put James money back. All right. Don't do anything crazy. I'm going to explain everything to you, okay? You are going to be arrested for child neglect, okay? >> In the end, she was hauled off to jail on child neglect charges. Since little King was nearly hit by a car in that parking lot, this could be escalated to a third-degree felony. If convicted, she's looking at a $5,000 fine, strict supervision from DCF, and the very real chance of losing all five of her children. The delivery's made, but the real storm is just starting to blow in for the next one. On July 1st, 2024, in Coral Gables, a tiny girl was found wandering all alone in the hallway of a luxury apartment complex. It was a pitiful sight. Behind the glitz and glamour of that building lay a heartbreaking case of neglect. >> Oh, mama. On this floor. >> She said like one sentence? >> Yeah. She's just very shy, so we can't get her to >> Try to talk to her. >> Hi. >> Oh, she wants to go with you, Bianca. >> I'll be right back, okay, mommy? >> Come right back. >> She speaks English or Spanish? >> I couldn't tell what she said. >> Okay. >> Do you know her? >> Yes. >> Mommy? Where's mommy? Where's mommy? Where's mommy? Can you show me where mommy is? >> Donde esta mommy? >> Donde esta mommy? >> Okay. >> Donde esta mommy? >> Okay. Donde esta mommy? >> I'll tell the manager right now. >> Mommy, go tell mommy. Need mommy? Um >> The manager only works on the second shift. >> We're going to have to go at the company to see if they've ever seen her, like the landlord company. >> two workers that came and they said they never seen they never seen her before. >> Yeah, but she could be in a stroller when she leaves. The person in charge of these apartments should know who has a child about this age. I mean, I would guess. >> No, the funders they have to have cuz they you have to have >> Dada? Looks like she probably The thing is, it looks like she's in her pajamas from like this you know >> Yeah. >> And I don't know. Her diaper doesn't look too too, but we might have to um >> Yeah, so the only thing they told me we know cuz we've been a parent she probably uses that thing. >> Yeah. >> You see, this mother actually convinced herself that her child would just sleep soundly until she got back. But the reality was an apartment left wide open filled with hazards. That wasn't a home anymore. It was a trap for a child. >> It's It's like no front desk. Where is the front desk? Is it in the that building you were telling me? >> here. >> Yeah. So if you were to appear, do they really go over there at all? >> They might cuz I mean, if they're going to amenities or anything like >> And you don't recognize the baby, right? Okay, so >> And then the higher you >> Um that's the other thing. We don't have cameras like on every floor. We only have them on the fifth floor. >> So there's no cameras on the sixth floor. >> That's where they connect to where they are. So I asked the concierge to check if anything like >> The elevator is >> I mean, it's possible the baby's not even from the sixth floor. It could have gone up another way. >> her to check the elevator cameras and like fifth floor hallway cameras. >> Okay. >> Cuz if not >> If If she's on the sixth floor, do they do they already know what the baby looks like? >> Yeah. Yeah. >> And none of them recognize the baby. >> No one. >> You fell, didn't you? You ripped your bell. Yep. >> Like me. >> Um management, do they These are all rentals, right? >> Yeah. >> He talked to me. Management, did we send them a picture to see if they they seen her before? >> Yeah, two of their employees came up and then let let them know and they said that >> But employees how? I'm going to send >> The ones that work here apparently and they said >> I know. I knocked. We knocked. >> I'm going to go get them water. >> Okay. We might have to hold her to do the other one because she's not She might not be still. >> How you doing? >> Where Where were you? >> At the leasing office. You said you were going to send a picture. >> Which which apartment? Okay, ma'am. Okay, I see You have a dog? Yeah, but we have to hold on to her till we finish this investigation, okay? All right, so just put her down on the floor that way she She's going to get a little worried, but like that's okay. Okay. >> The mother tried to act calm, but that apartment was a mirror of her own state of mind. The sheer chaos and filth of her living space spoke volumes. It exposed a deep crisis and an alarming decline in the very basic standards of parenting. >> Mike! We found her. Just be careful she comes out. Hello. Hello. Um how are you? Okay, let me let me talk to you. So, did you Did you leave her by herself? >> Yes. >> Okay, got it cuz I I understand that you usually get her out at 11. Okay, um let me ask What From your knowledge, what's happened today? >> My girlfriend left my daughter sleeping. She went to the bank and came back, and the police were with my daughter. >> To the bank? >> I think so. City bank. I know that's the travel some ATMs in there. That's as far as >> What time did she leave? >> I don't know what time she left. I got a text message. >> Yeah, well, if you're getting noise. >> I got a text from her at 6:33. >> Mhm. >> And I asked what's happening, and she told me >> But what did she tell you at 6:33? That she was leaving or something? >> No. So, I believe you guys were already here at that time. So, when I reserved the elevator, I went to the bank to try the wireless ATM. And 7-Eleven, and Olivia was asleep. When I came back, she was outside. >> Right. >> That's my knowledge. >> All right. Um, does she usually leave her alone? >> Not that I >> Okay. Um, I know I know we've already talked about the work schedule. I know she's off on Monday, Tuesdays. You're off Wednesday, Thursdays, but your mom >> Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and >> I know. So, I know that you guys are, you know, doing your due diligence to make sure that the baby's taken care of. Um, but into your knowledge, she's never left alone. >> No. >> Okay. Um And she didn't tell you, "Hey, I'm stepping out." at any point, anything like that? >> No, she didn't. >> And another question. I know you guys are moving. >> Mhm. >> Um, and you guys were working on reserving an elevator. >> Yes. >> Who made that reservation? >> I believe she did. >> Her busy schedule was nothing but a smoke screen for her irresponsibility. When she admitted she'd left her child to go to the store and visit relatives, the whole act fell apart. The handcuffs locked tight around the wrists of a woman who had just abandoned her own flesh and blood. >> We're going to be placing her under arrest, okay? So, we're doing it outside so your daughter doesn't witness anything. >> Why am I getting arrested? >> You're getting arrested for child neglect, okay? Any questions? All right. Is your phone is on you? Do you want that to go with you to TJC? >> No. >> Okay. So, you want it to stay with Gabriel? >> Yes. >> Okay. Just give it to >> your watch. >> That's fine. >> You got it. Can I have the number that you need after the phone? >> Um >> You know the >> You do memorize your dad's number. I know you memorize number. So So that way you can call him for help. Put your hands behind your Okay. Yeah. Put your hands behind your back again so you don't hurt them. Can you call out? All right. That all seems right. So, we're going to finish the paperwork. Um what happens next we take you to the jail. You're going to get booked and processed. You get to the station to finish paperwork. When we get to the station, you're going to be in a holding cell while we do the paperwork. I'll take your handcuffs off of you. Um get back in We get back in my car. Go to TGK. Um from there Check it one. From there um we do the booking process. Just one more turn for you. Do the booking process. It's already 9:00. No one's going to be able to see you now, but more than likely tomorrow morning. Again, I can't guarantee that. It depends on the week. Um you'll see a judge. From there you get your um you get a basically like a first appearance hearing. They'll either set your bond, anything like that. You'll also be granted a phone call. The phone call is going to be recorded. >> There wasn't a shred of remorse for leaving a 3-year-old in a house full of dangers. Instead of tears of regret, she sat in silence, likely calculating how to handle herself in court. I tell you, she is one cold-hearted mother. >> All right. Just for reference >> Uh-huh. >> I got Nothing in here, okay? If anything appears, it's going to be technically yours. Do you understand what I'm trying to say? So, you don't have anything else on you, correct? >> I don't. >> Okay. Close those good. I'll lower the window so you get air, okay? >> Thank you. >> Here are your 15 pebbles. All right. So, I'll search this one right here. >> Mhm. >> Yeah. You have the key? Want to tell your cop off? Open up a little bit. You can stand. You want a cup of water or anything like that? >> I'm okay. >> Let me know, okay? >> Okay. >> Wait. >> In the end, she was arrested and charged with child neglect. [music] If convicted, she's looking at potential jail time, heavy fines, and probation. Most importantly, [music] she faces losing custody if child services determines that her home is simply not a safe place for a child to grow up. At least the kid is safe. As for that next power-tripping fool, well, they're about to lose everything. On January 3rd, 2024, a peaceful neighborhood was turned upside down when a misdelivered package sparked a terrifying confrontation involving a firearm. Faced with the arrogance of a 51-year-old woman standing defiantly on her porch, the police had to step in to restore order. >> Tell me what's going on. >> I came over here to get my medicine a few minutes ago. I was out there doing something and she was going to do something to me if I I cracked that mirror, so you know, and then had a little something in her hand flashing it around. I'm pretty sure it was a >> You're pretty sure it was a gun, but did you actually see a gun? >> I seen it. >> Nia, come open the door. >> Nia, come talk to us. You're not in trouble. Can you just open the door? >> You about to disrespect me, you hear me? You at mama's house. What you looking at me like that for? >> We're not disrespecting >> What are you looking at me like that for, coward? >> What's up? You're Do you want to speak it up your ramp? >> I want you away from me right now. I don't know what's going on with your face. That's what I want. >> That's messed up. >> you I don't know what that [ __ ] told you. All he is is a bum. He's a loser. I don't let this kill him. I own this [ __ ] You hear me? I'm a owner. I'm not a renter. I'm not a tenant. I'm a owner. >> Her calm demeanor quickly vanished into agitation the moment the gun was mentioned. She clung to her seniority and property rights as a last-ditch effort to protect a crumbling ego. But in the eyes of the law, such pride is nothing more than a farce. >> She said stop it, you know? >> Trauma or something. >> You guys got He got a billy club. He He knife sticks. He got tasers. The neighbor's testimony was the final blow that pierced through her psychological shield. >> She's not very cooperative. >> I know it. She's crazy. But what's the deal? Why won't she bring her ass out of there? >> So she's not passing outside of her house and we can't grab her. >> Oh, she made bail? >> And then Nia won't pass her. >> Okay. Tell Nia to get Ask Nia to get to give you my both of my cell phone cuz I I'm going to call somebody to come get me and take me back to Portland and I'm going to leave her here. We just have to secure it as best we can, okay? >> The way she reacted to her Miranda rights wasn't out of remorse, but rather a desperate attempt to save face after her fortress had crumbled. As her sophisticated facade was stripped away, her hollow pride revealed itself as nothing more than a psychological escape tactic. >> And you're going through a lot right now. But you knew we were out here, right? >> I I said I I can't say what my lawyer said. He told me not to, but he I I was trying to do what my lawyer told me to do. >> Today he told you to do that? He told you just not to open the door? >> He told me to stay quiet, stay inside. >> Stay inside and stay quiet. But you knew we've been out here for like an hour. >> He said he called the jail. >> What do you mean he called the jail? >> he called and he spoke to somebody at the jail to let them know that he was >> What does that have anything to do with it? >> I I thought >> So So you initially you heard us. You heard us knocking. You heard us saying we're the sheriff's office and to come out, and your lawyer told you to stay inside. So, you refused to come out cuz your lawyer said that, all right? Is that what your >> I I'm not supposed to talk about what my lawyer said. >> Okay, that's fine. You don't have to talk to me about what your lawyer told you. This time we had to get a search warrant for your residence and break your door down for you to finally come to come to us. So, you see the escalation here? We're at your rear of your residence and we're at the front of your residence with a loud speaker that can be easily heard because we've done this plenty of times. I'm not new to this. >> Right. I'm just saying I personally have a hearing problem, and I I if I I believe you that you said the things you said you said. And I I'm not trying to call you a liar or anything. >> No, I understand. I'm telling him the truth. I honestly did not hear >> I get you. I'll be honest, I don't believe you. >> I >> I don't believe you. >> I know you have a hard job, but you have no reason to believe me. I understand. >> you. No, I I mean you've shown me that I can't I I just don't believe you. This is the second time. So I mean >> know if you're a Christian.
