Okay. >> I I I'll give it back. I just got the socks. Police, what's police? I got my kids at home right now. >> The woman's panicked reaction the moment she was pulled over showed that she immediately understood she was under arrest. Cornered, she shifted into acceptance, but still tried to justify herself. Sheena even used her own children as an excuse for her wrongdoing. >> It's not a huge deal. Okay, >> I'm my kids at home. Please, I just feed my kids. That's all. >> We're going to lie right back to my car. Okay. >> Okay. >> Please, y'all have to go to jail. Huh? Have I been honest with you? >> Yes, you have. >> Okay. And >> have I been honest? I That's why I had to I read your Miranda. I know that you you have issues with money, right? Yeah. >> Right. But and you need your kids to eat. >> Yes. >> You live in King County. >> I live in I live in uh >> King County. Well, Ken is this King County? >> Yeah, this is King County. >> Okay. I didn't know. Okay. >> And King County has a lot of different things that they can deal with to help you out with family. >> Okay. I know. >> And stealing ain't one of them. >> You're right. You're absolutely right, sir. Yes, it does. Okay. >> It makes a lot of sense. >> You're old enough to know. >> Yes, I am. >> That you probably shouldn't be doing that because if you get caught, which happens today, >> right? >> Yes. >> You have the potential to >> She listened to the officer's advice, nodded, and admitted, "I've learned a lesson." However, this remorse may have only been temporary, meant to please the officer and hope for leniency. At the same time, she admitted she had an active warrant. >> I know. I'm just wondering. I know. I did. I'm sorry, sir. I did. Okay. >> I got two I got some pants and I got some >> I'm going to put you in the shade cuz Okay, >> that's just jacked up. >> Okay. >> I got I told you I got the two pair >> I'm going to have you sit down right on the coat. I'll be right back. All right. >> Hi, how are you? I'm officer Gary K. Please have a body camera. You're being recorded. So, just so you know, you are under arrest for shoplifting. And uh miss just to let you know, you are trespassed from Target for life. If you go back there ever again, there's a potential >> at home. Please, I I promise I won't go back. I got kids at the house. >> We can go over there and check on them. Who's with your kids right now? >> Nobody. They're at the house with my sister. And please, what did I do? So, you left your children unalone? >> No. No. I left them at my at my friend's house. >> Okay. How How old are your children? They're they're young. So listen, what I can't go home. >> Well, hear me out. Shoplifting is not the crime of the century, right? But at the same time, if you committed a crime, you go to jail, right? >> I understand that. But they said like, man, I ain't do nothing. I understand that part. What I mean, I got I I got issues, man. >> You do. And your children have issues, too. I want to make sure your children are taken care of. >> Man, I'll figure that out. I just don't want to go to jail. Can I go home? >> I know you don't want to go to jail, but they don't want to have their stuff stolen either, right? >> I know. And I will I will never This is a lesson learned right here. I promise. After that night, I said I was never going to go back. I promise you." >> So, here's the deal. You're in arrest. We're going to get this stuff back. Um uh and you understand you cannot go back. >> When officially informed of her arrest, Shaina's mindset immediately shifted to resistance mixed with despair. She tried to play every last card to delay things. This showed that she still hadn't truly realized the nature of crime. Once the act is done, the consequences are unavoidable. >> No, please. I'm about I'm about to fall. I'm about to I got bad asthma. Please don't. >> Um, Miss, so you understand that you are going to >> Yes. Yes, I am. >> Anybody want to book her? >> Please. I'm just checking you. >> Oh my god. I can't. >> Please stop. You guys. No. No. No. >> She refused to step into the car, constantly complaining that the handcuffs were too tight. This wasn't only physical discomfort, but also a way of defying authority, a hopeless resistance against an unchangeable reality. Perhaps she was trying to buy time, hoping for some unexpected intervention. >> Breathe. I can't breathe. I can't breathe. This thing is too tight, too. Please. >> We'll check that out. >> Please. This side is just this side right here. >> Face the car. Face the car. >> I don't have nothing on me. I keep telling you that. I don't have nothing on me. My lighter. All right. Face forward. I can't even >> Which one? >> Both. This one. This B. I need the twisted, man. Go up. >> Hold on. Listen. Stop moving. I will loosen the one on your left hand. >> Not this one. >> Watch your knee. >> I can't breathe in here. I can't breathe in here. I can't breathe. I got to go to the hospital. >> Can you please can you take me to the hospital? Please. I can't breathe. I got a bad heart. You guys look it up. >> Focus on your breathing and not talking. >> Oh my god. This is crazy. What am I doing, man? [ __ ] My deceit is tight on my hand. Please. But can you please Okay, I will I will listen to this as of right now. I will listen to Can you loosen this just a little tiny bit, please? Can you please just loosen this a little bit and I will stop? >> You're fine. >> This thing hurts my arm. >> Oh my god. You guys going to do this like this with my >> In the end, the woman was taken to jail and charged with petty theft and resisting law enforcement when she struggled during the arrest. The penalties she could face include jail time, a criminal record, and a permanent ban from Target. But this was only the prelude. The real blow was yet to come, continuing at Target. On December 20th, 2024, police were called after reports of a woman involved in multiple shoplifting incidents at various stores. The suspect was quickly spotted just outside Target, where she was detained for questioning. But then things took a far more unexpected turn. >> What have I done? So, if you want to explain to her what? >> Real quick. So, right now you are being detained for suspicion of retail theft over at the Kohl's earlier today. Do you have an ID on you? >> No, I don't. >> Okay. >> Can I go use the bathroom real fast? I think >> not right now. Okay. >> Where are you coming from today? >> I'm just walking around. I just came from one of the stores. I haven't done anything wrong. >> I haven't done anything wrong. >> No. Do you >> ma'am? You're not free to leave at this time. >> Who's that? >> You're being detained. >> Ma'am, >> you are being detained for what? >> You need to stop. >> Let me see. Let me use the bathroom. >> You stand. No, you're No. >> Can I call my sister? >> We're going to give you a moment to call whoever you'd like. >> Well, why are you detaining me? That's me. >> That's you walking out of Coohl's >> when? at 2 or excuse me 2:20 in the evening or the afternoon? >> No. >> So we can confirm that? >> No. I just want to go use the bathroom. Can I just go right there? >> Nope. >> Nope. All right. Brenda, do you have a middle initial ma'am? >> No. >> Okay. What's your birthday? >> Did you do you have a driver's license? >> No, I don't. >> Okay. Where? Okay. Do you have a state ID? >> No, I I I I I have a license. I just don't have anything with me. >> So, Brenda, I'm going to tell you right now >> what's going on. >> Again, you are being detained for suspicion of retail theft. They have you over at Kohl's here just up the way on video putting makeup in your pockets walking out of the store without paying for it. >> I didn't put makeup in my pockets at this store. >> I have you I have you on video makeup. I didn't take any makeup from that store. >> If any of the information that you've given me because right now I do have probable cause for your arrest. If any of that information that you is false, that is going to be an additional charge for obstructing identification. >> Oh, that's great. And can I go home now? >> Officers approached the situation professionally, explaining the reason for the detention while presenting surveillance footage from the store. However, the woman immediately tried to shift the focus by asking to use the restroom. A common tactic to stall or find a chance to escape. >> But I'm I'm okay. I'm not trying to calm down a little bit. >> Adam, >> I'm not leaving. Sorry. I'm white as a doctor. >> You're not free to leave. Like we >> You're not being mean to me. I'm not being mean to you. I didn't take makeup though. I didn't. That's not I didn't I I some a sample thing I used, but I didn't take any makeup. >> Why have you on video putting it in your pockets? >> No, that was never That's a sample. >> Exact same clothes that you're wearing. >> It was a sample thing. >> You put it in your pockets, >> but it was a sample pockets. That doesn't matter. You can't see. >> I thought you could. It's a sample. >> Well, no, that's not how it works. >> It was a sample. I don't even Are you willing to show me? >> I don't have it anymore. >> Okay. >> I don't have that anymore. I don't I don't even have it. >> Don't have it anymore. Okay. Where would it be? >> It was just some sample stuff and I didn't like it. Where would it be? I don't know. I just kind of threw it in. It might be right over there in the garbage. I didn't keep it. So, >> okay. >> I didn't And it was a sample. I didn't think that was wrong. It wasn't It wasn't like I didn't take You understand what I didn't know that it doesn't say. >> They were on the display and it didn't say anything. It didn't say Let me finish, please. >> I'm sorry, but I didn't mean God. >> I'm talking right now. >> Okay. There's nothing on there that said they were samples. They were display. >> This is say displays are samples. I didn't I didn't even keep it. I But it was just I didn't steal like take stuff like like you know what I mean? Like stuff like that. I didn't. Okay. >> Those were wrong. And I threw them out. I did. They weren't even my color. You know, you're just goofing around. They didn't mean anything. I took two samples. >> Brenda, I'm going to ask you again. Do you have anything with an ID? >> I don't have anything. >> You have anything with your name on it? >> No. >> All right. >> My face is my face. >> Well, that's that's okay. You don't >> 1065. No, I don't have anything on me. >> You don't have a debit card. >> I don't have anything on me today. >> Police continued to ask about identification, her phone, and credit cards, but she insisted she wasn't carrying any. Yet, the hoodie she wore still had a price tag attached and clear marks where a security sensor had just been removed, proving it was newly stolen. When questioned, she brushed it off, claiming it was just a new style here with me. Okay. >> You just told me you don't have a phone. >> No, I said it's my friend's phone. I don't have a phone. So, same thing. Same thing. >> You're all over the place here. Same thing. I'm all sad right now. And I myself all of a sudden I'm in trouble for some and they were like they they were um translucent. samples. Yeah. And then like So I didn't even keep them. >> Okay. What? You have a tag still on your hoodie. What happened there? That's just my shirt. You left the tag on it. >> It's just my shirt. >> It's a new style. >> Yeah. It's not a new style. I >> You ripped the You ripped the scanner off, but the tag's still attached. >> No, I didn't write a scanner. This is not I didn't rip a scanner. This is mine. >> Wait, look at the tag. Want me to show >> I know. I see the tag there, but that's not that. That's mine. >> Okay. I'm >> I see that there. I have layers on today, >> girl. I'm just saying you left the tag on. >> No, I didn't leave the tag on. It's not. It's just something I threw on. Okay. Okay. Okay. >> What are you looking for? >> So, according to Kohl's, she's got a Walmart cart somewhere where she was dumping stuff by a bush. She's wearing the exact same clothes that she was wearing at the time of the theft. I think that she's giving me a phony baloney name. >> Okay. >> Um, she claims she has nothing with her ID. >> Okay. I got a couple other things I'm going to try to ask her. Either way, she's going to be coming with me because I have no way to ID her. So, I'm going to double check with Kohl's as far as what she left in the bags and whatnot, but what she took today. We have her on video. You can see her clearly on the display putting stuff in her pocket. She walked out of the store. >> Did Cole's give you aized list of those items from the earlier theft? >> They did. >> Okay, very good. >> Am I going to Can I use the bathroom at least? >> As of right now, no. >> Did you just come from where' you say Kohl's? Where? >> No, I wasn't at Kohl's. I was just walking around. I was about to call and try to get a lift or something to get him back. Yeah. >> Well, how are we going to do that if you don't have anything on you? >> You don't have any money or nothing? >> I don't have that money for lift. No, >> you just said you don't have cards or anything. >> I don't have No, I don't have anything on me. >> So, how the woman gradually realized that every excuse was useless. She tried to divert attention with unrelated questions like why she should listen to the officers or even complimenting their looks. This was a desperate attempt to distract and stall for time. >> You're not leaving. So you don't have to act like >> Well, we asked you to stay there and you haven't. So >> because I'm nervous. I don't see why I have to do what you say. >> Because I'm a police officer. That's why. >> That doesn't make a difference. I mean, I'm still a human being. >> I And I'm treating you fairly, am I not? >> I just have asked you to stay there. That makes my job easier. >> I'd like to go. Someone I'd like to go home. >> Well, >> am I going to be able to go home? >> Unfortunately, I I don't know. My partner is the >> home. So, you know the other the other gentleman that you were talking to before I came in here? We're going to have to talk to him about that. Okay. >> I came here late. That's why I was asking what your name is and all that. >> Dennis and Peter. >> I'm not going to run away, Dennis. I'm not going to hit you. I've never had any I've never done anything violent. >> I'm not saying you're I'm not saying you're a violent person. >> Where Where is home? >> Down the street. Okay. >> I'm just pacing, sir. I'm sorry. >> You might pace, too. You're handsome, though. >> Thank you. Yes, you're nice looking, too. Oh, well, I appreciate you and you're very kind. >> You found it right here. >> Yep. >> You're the man, dude. Appreciate you. >> This is >> I think she's giving me a phony baloney name. >> I would assume so. Especially if she's not coming back, >> correct? So, I'm going to try a couple other things. >> Did she talk to Target? Cuz this is Target's bags. >> Target? So, earlier they said she didn't take anything, but that may have changed between now and >> Yeah. He's actually So, you're going to want to check somebody go check up on him. He's going to go review footage. See, she >> can I go home? What's your name, Hunter? >> My name's Officer Hunter, badge number 1120. >> What are we waiting for >> right now? We have somebody talking over to Kohl's. >> I just want to go home. >> Okay. So, >> please. >> I'm going to ask you to stop moving around and stand right there for me, please. Okay. >> And that's the that's the last warning. >> Could you turn and face me, please? >> I can hear you. I don't have knife or anything able to see you. >> Okay. >> I'm not asking. I'm telling. Turn around and face me. >> Thank you. >> Yes, sir. >> What part of stop moving around do we not understand? >> I'm sorry. >> Earlier, another officer had discovered a Walmart shopping bag hidden in the bushes suspected to be merchandise she had just dumped, further strengthening the evidence against her. At this point, she completely lost control of the situation. The mounting tension pushed her into extreme anxiety, triggering physical reactions she could no longer contain. >> I just out to Kohl's earlier today. They advised me that there was a retail theft of several pieces of makeup items offered for sale. The total value of those items is $141. They have you on video walking over to the makeup section, putting those items in your pocket, and walking past the last point of sale without procuring a form of payment. I'm talking. You're listening. >> I'm apologizing. >> I'm sorry. I'm sorry. >> Okay. I'm trying to be nice, but we keep talking. >> Can I take my stuff? Did I >> Hold on just a second, please. I'm going to actually have you stand right here, right next to me, please. Which way? >> Just right here. And I'm going to have you face that way. Please. Looking over at this. >> No, no, I am not. I'm standing right here. Okay. >> We're just hanging out right here because we have somebody from Kohl's is going to take a look at you. >> They're going to come to us. >> Okay. >> Turn over and look at that squad car for me. The white one. >> I don't want to. >> Okay. >> Why do I have to look at the squad car? >> Okay. >> I want to know. Give me an extra >> Because they need to take a look at you. >> And like I That's like I explained before. Oh, this is the guy in the car. >> Yes. >> Which car? The white guy. >> The white one that just drove past with the little >> some incognito thing. He thinks I'm going to come get him. I'm not going to do anything to anyone. >> That's just a police procedure. >> They see me. >> That's >> Can't they show Can't they They see me with the scars. >> Very good. >> Very good. >> All right. >> So, what happens now? Let's just be honest. I'm very nervous. I peed on myself. >> Okay. >> I did. So, at this moment in time, if you have nothing that can prove to me who you are, you are going to be placed under arrest at this time. Do you have anything that can show me who you are? Don't go reaching for nothing, please. Mindful of your step. >> I won't let you. >> You're going to have to really help me. >> Okay, I've got you. I'm not going to let you fall. >> I'm just going to take your hat off. >> No, don't. >> I have to take it off. It's departmental policy. >> I I don't know. No, please don't. I usually I have a religious beanie that's in my purse. I going to go right back on. I have to take it off real quick and then >> Oh god, don't do this to me. Please let me go home. >> Nope. We're past that point now. >> Okay, >> I want it back on now. >> I Brenda, >> please. >> I'm going to put it back on. I said I had to take it off for a second and put it right back on. >> Can I have my religious beanie? >> Your beanie is still on your head. >> No, it's Is it on my head? Cuz I was hiding taken it off. I have a religious beanie I wear all the time. >> What color is it? >> It's black. >> It's still on your head. >> I don't know. In the end, the woman was taken to jail and charged with petty theft, merchandise valued at $141, and obstructing an officer, giving a false name. Based on these charges, she could face fines, restitution to the store, or jail time. If one suspect could shake up Target, then the next three turned greed into a full-blown heist. On August 3rd, 2024 in Glen View, Illinois, a shoplifting incident quickly turned into a highstakes chase. The suspects fled in a stolen truck loaded with $8,000 worth of merchandise, forcing police into a relentless pursuit. And this is what happened next. [Music] [Music] 570 the vehicle non stopping. We're going uh westbound still westly from Shurmer. Going to be going northbound on Shmer. [Music] Dispatch has been updated. [Music] I got it. >> 57. That vehicle has a blown front left tire. I'm not chasing anymore. It just pulled into the Willow Creek Church parking lot area. [Music] >> 57. The vehicle is going to be in the back parking lot here and be occupied by one male black and a female black. [Music] 57. I got to show two three female blacks heading uh east. Stop. Please stop. >> Stop. Stop. >> Okay. >> Come here. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Please don't grab me. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Please don't grab me. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> I'm pregnant. >> Police pursued and quickly restrained a female suspect. She immediately resisted, denying she had fled while also claiming she was pregnant. Even after being ordered to put her hands behind her back, she refused and struggled. Even once handcuffed, she kept complaining and refused to sit down. >> Okay. Can you walk me right here? I don't want to be back here with you. Can we walk up here? Just walk me up here. I'm good. I'm not going to be adjacent to the uh creek shmer lot. >> Got two female blacks out standing. I'm with one right now in the parking lot. >> Come here. >> I'm not going to run from you. >> Just sit on the curb. All right. Put your hands behind your back real quick. >> I'm okay. >> No. Put your hands behind your back. >> Excuse me, sir. >> Put your hands >> Please don't grab me. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Please don't grab me. The police is right here. >> Tell me what's going on. >> My arm is broke, too. And I'm pregnant. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Can I put this right here? >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Where's everybody else at? >> They jumped the fence. >> Are you good here? >> Yeah. Let me >> I'm not going away. I cannot drive. I'm not going away. >> Okay. You're not free to leave right now. >> Okay. Can you let me go? Have a seat. Let me >> I'm not going nowhere. >> Give me one second. Are the cuffs too tight right now? >> Yes. And I'm pregnant. >> That's not tight. You're good. I'm going to lock them so they don't tighten up on you. Okay. >> Yeah. Two females just jumped the fence that way. >> You want to stick around? >> I'm good right now. >> Let me lock these real quick so they don't tighten up on you. Okay. >> No, >> I'm not going nowhere. >> Either have a seat. >> Excuse me. I'm not going to run from you. I can't run from you. I'm in handcuffs. I'm not going anywhere. Okay. I'm not going nowhere. >> Just have a seat for me. Just realize. Do you need an ambulance at all? >> No. No. I just Just let me go. >> Just have a seat. You can't even I I'm telling you I can't sit down. I am pregnant. Do you see my stomach? You can touch it if you want to. Stand up. I'm okay. I'm not going anywhere. >> Stand right here. Stand right here. All right. Just stay right there. Okay. >> Why are you guys running? >> Cuz you put your I'm trying to figure out why you pull me over. >> Who was driving? >> Not me. >> Who are your two other friends? >> You got to find him and ask him. >> So, what are you guys doing in the area? >> My phone. >> I'm not going, sir. I cannot run from that. Put >> You're not going in the car right now. I don't know what's in there. I haven't searched it yet or anything. Just stay right here. Hey, can you just check the car and make sure nobody else is in there? Nobody in there. >> I don't know that. >> Nobody know. >> Was it just you three? >> Yeah. What y'all pull us up before? >> Why? >> Yeah. >> We had a shoplifting call in progress gave this vehicle, which is involved in prior incidences. >> Prior? >> Yeah. >> I ain't know. But no, >> I'm not saying it was you. I'm just saying this vehicle. >> Do you have any type of ID on you? >> No. >> She insisted her pregnancy meant she couldn't sit. Yet, she had just been caught running from police. Constantly denying she had fled. She used her pregnancy as a reason to demand officers let her go. However, police explained they had to keep her detained while checking the vehicle where they found piles of new clothing still with tags. >> But I'm I'm saying that's okay. >> So, just so you understand, you're just being detained right now. You're not under arrest. You're just being detained. >> All right. Till we figure out what's going on. >> Stay over here. >> I don't know what sir. You got me handled. >> You keep walking around. Stay over here. I'm not going to tell you again. I'm going to put you in the back of the squad car. >> Listen, I'm not going nowhere. I'm looking at the tire. You okay? >> It's blown. What do you need to look at? >> Doing your job. I'm just looking at the tire. I understand. >> Just stay still. Why do you keep going back in the car? >> I'm not I'm looking at the tire. I know I'm not I can't go nowhere. >> Just come over here. Have a seat. >> Just settle down and relax. There's no need to be walking around. All right. I'm trying to be cool with you, but you keep walking around. >> Okay. >> It's going to cause more issues. I think No, it was just the two other females. I only saw the her and then two others. >> You can't handle the car doors, huh? >> No. >> You have a car door? >> No. >> I told you mom I had messed up my arm. That's all. That's why I'm >> Okay. Do you need an ambulance or anything? I don't even know how to go. >> Okay. Which arm? >> This one. >> Or secure. Uh there's a bunch of items with tags all over the car. >> You good with her? >> Mhm. >> I ain't going nowhere cuz man, we might start. >> You promise, right? >> Mother go. >> All right. People still run even when they're handcuffed. So, baby, it's already >> No. Get You got to No, cuz I don't want you grabbing anything cuz I >> What am I grabbing? >> I don't know what's back there. >> Ain't no good. Come on now. >> You just said you didn't want to sit down, right? >> Yeah, but I don't Now I don't feel good for real and I told you I was pregnant. >> Okay. And I get that I asked you to sit on the curb. You didn't want to do that. But now you're sitting on here. >> It's just low. That's really what it was. I really should have sat on the seat. >> Okay. Do you want to sit in the squad car like I do? You're not under arrest or anything right now. You're just being detained. Just higher up. Leave the door open. >> Okay. >> Okay. I just don't want you digging. Not saying that you're going to. I just don't want anybody digging around in the car. >> You know, cuz we don't know what's in there. >> Nothing. >> So, what are we waiting on? >> Well, we're still trying to find your other friends, >> I'm assuming. What was that? >> What about me? >> Well, you're just being detained right now. And so, once everything is settled down, you know, we'll read everybody the rights and whatnot. and figure out what's going on. >> She continued refusing to cooperate, turning to words of protest and excuses, complaining while pacing around and dragging out the situation unnecessarily. More dangerously, she tried to slip her hand out of the cuffs. Meanwhile, two other suspects were found in the backyard, also putting up heavy resistance, escalating the tension. >> To the to the to the fence, if you just walk straight, should be uh sandals, I think. >> Yeah. >> You're still doing okay. No ambulance or anything? >> Okay. What's the T? >> Yeah, we're towing the car. >> Deal with >> What's that? >> To deal with. >> Most likely it's going to be processed. I mean, >> would I get it back? >> I I can't really ask you questions right now cuz I haven't read you. You're right. So, I don't want to. It was just your slippers over there, right? >> Yeah. Okay. >> That's that's that's people personal belongings. It don't make no sense for me to tell no lies at this point. >> I need you to stop trying to get your arm outside the cup. >> First of all, >> okay, look, you're literally squeezing out of it. >> No, I wasn't. First of all, it's five of y'all. I am 6 months pregnant. I'm not running nowhere from y'all. I'm not going nowhere. I'm right here. Y'all got me. It's okay. I'm not going now. I didn't even notice that until you said I'm not going nowhere. Well, I'm going go. What time? I'm 250 lb. Stop. Y'all probably You probably what? 35. Ain't no outrunting you. >> So, trust me, I ain't I ain't no stupid. I ain't stupid. I ain't going out. >> Why you wear my wig here? >> I'm not running from nowhere over here. >> I didn't put your hands behind your back. >> Okay. >> Let me go. I'm not going nowhere. Let me go >> behind your back. >> Let me go. I'm not existing. Let me go. Put your hands behind your back. >> Let me go. >> You too. >> I wasn't. I didn't go with him. >> I'm not going to get hurt. >> You're too little. Okay. Put your hand back. >> Let me go. Just let me go. >> No. Put your hand down. >> Just let me go. >> Put your hand down. >> Just let me go. >> Why you being racist? >> Sit down on the ground. Sit down on the ground. >> Put your hands back. Sit down. >> He hurting me. Babe, >> I'm not going nowhere. He hurting me. >> On the ground. >> You hurting me. >> Put your hands hurting me. >> I'm not resisting arrest. Just let me put my hands behind my back. >> After being arrested, the suspects expressed helplessness by complaining and lamenting their circumstances. This is a common psychological reaction when someone loses control. Their insistence that they couldn't have run also showed a temporary acceptance of being detained. >> Stand up. >> Can I raise my hair up or you lock my hair? >> Can I lock my hair up first? >> Yeah, something like that. Either that or next door. >> I'm not going nowhere first. I'm gonna get it. >> I'm on the phone. >> All right, that's cool. >> Hello. You put it up. Can you put >> on the phone with the person that was driving? >> No. >> No. All right. >> How do I be on person driving? Y'all call her. >> 57. How many build out? >> How many build out? >> Hot car. >> That's not a hard car, baby. >> It's not. >> It's wanted. >> No. The plates are Well, it's definitely wanted. >> 927. >> I will be glad to get your weapons. We could uh find the catch back to Northbook at some point. >> You got it, boss. Appreciate your help. >> I'm not going to run. >> I know, but I got to make sure you don't fall either. You know what I mean? >> Cuz you're out of breath. >> She had my phone. Am I able to get my phone later? >> Where's your Who has your phone? >> The driver. I didn't go in with >> Who? The chick? >> Yeah. >> Here, I'll do you one better. How about >> How about that? >> You heard me. >> What's up? >> It was a pink iPhone. >> Pink iPhone? Where is it at? >> It was in our car. >> In the car? >> Yeah. >> All right. We'll look for it. >> You'll be able to get it? Yeah, I'm sure we will. Unless you dropped it somewhere. >> Don't be telling me though. Laugh. >> We're going to go that way. We're going to go that way. Hey, I'll be uh by my car. You got anything else on you? >> No. >> All right, I'm going to take that female officer for some while I'm in your custody. >> All right, give me one second. All right, that'll allow it. Make sure they don't get no tighter on you. >> Tight as hell. You act like I'm running away. I'm I know I'm little, but that tight on my hand. >> Well, I mean, f further down on your wrist. >> Look, this just this one. Just this one. >> Supposed to keep turning your wrist. Don't let it ride up. Otherwise, it's going to keep doing that. We're going to be here. >> I use my phone on here. >> No, it's not going to happen right now. >> Why? >> Uh because it's not going to happen once we figure out what's going on. If you come back to the station with us, then you use your phone at the station. You can call somebody from the station. >> Pull back to the station. >> Why don't you come back over here and see what >> we got to figure out what's going on? >> What you mean? >> We got to figure out what's going on. I'm just going to put this on you. We're going to take a ride up to my other partner up there. >> We got to wait for the female officer. In the end, all three suspects were taken to jail and charged with felony retail theft since the stolen merchandise was valued at $8,000. In addition, Shaniah faced extra charges including resisting police, fleeing, reckless driving, and traffic violations. Jatariah Brown was also charged with obstructing an officer. Elise Christian faced charges of obstructing identification and had an active warrant from another state, making her case even more severe. When the crew fell because of greed, another face, one that seemed innocent, was about to deliver the next shock. On July 30th, 2025, police were called to an Ace Hardware store after a report of an unusual theft. A woman suspected of stealing a house plant. Shortly after, she was detained for questioning and surveillance footage revealed the truth behind the scene. And this is what happened next. >> Have a seat in here. >> With you. Okay. >> Okay. >> Okay. We can just put this down. >> 127 street. >> Is that I'll talk to you in the car real quick. >> 1275 Oak Street in the car. >> Yeah, if you could. >> Yeah. >> I'm very confused. >> I'll talk to you. >> I'd rather not have it closed if that's fine. so that I can >> I just don't want anybody else listening to your business. So, >> I'm going to read your Miranda rights. Have you had your Miranda rights read to you before? >> Wait, so now I'm going to jail. >> I'm not saying that by any means. Do you have any prior history of retail theft? >> No. >> Okay. I'm going to watch the video. >> Okay. >> Okay. Before I do anything, just to confirm what he's saying. But let me read you Miranda before I talk to you any further. Okay. >> All right. >> Can Okay, hold on. Can I >> remind you what you talking to me about what happened today? >> Yes. >> Okay. All right. So, I haven't watched the video yet, but he said you've been removing on multiple occasions other than today. >> Have you been here previously? >> I I I've been here many times. Yes, I've come here for plants. >> Sure. >> Love some plants every time, you know, grab right in here and everything. I've been here multiple times where the ladies were cuz they usually get a tray, you know, usually get like five, six plus plants. and she said, "You know, if you have multiple, you can take the tag off or if they're bigger than like um a pint or quart, you can take the label off and bring it in." I said, "Thank you so much. Greatly appreciate it." >> Um in time before last, I did have a >> I did look through their um morning jasmine and everything. I did remove the tag and everything like a owner or not, sorry, not an owner, employee said that I could previously do. I put them out. I just put them in front of my car and everything. I went inside. >> I was talking to the older lady with glasses that is currently still working in there and has checked me out multiple times before and everything. I thought I paid for everything. >> The woman's body language showed a mix of confusion and anxiety, though she remained cooperative. Her explanation for removing the price tag might have seemed believable to someone unfamiliar with store procedures. However, the claim of accidentally forgetting to pay was clearly an attempt to justify and downplay her actions. I would not take steal in any way and then coming back and try to steal or take again. I said, you know, I apologize. I'm more than happy to pay for anything. He goes, nope, we're calling the cops, going to jail. And I said, I I don't feel like that is necessary, but I am happy. >> I'm not saying you're going to jail by any even if even if it rises that level, I can give you a notice to appear if you're cooperative. I just want to just make sure cuz he's saying that what you're doing is you're taking the tags off cheaper items, going and paying for those, and then taking the more expensive items is the way he's explained it to me. I'm going to go watch the video. Okay. And and I did remove tags again today because it was raining and everything and they were bigger ones. And I was told from previous times if it is a bigger one, I can put it out in front of my car and bring the tags in and everything. And I was looking at the big ones versus the little ones and everything. I assumed I took off um tags and everything of the appropriate ones and everything. I I've brought them inside. >> I'm going to run her real quick too and just see if she's got any prior for >> this. Yeah. You want to go? >> Sure that works. >> So, basically what she's doing the last time she took she got a tray of flowers. >> She goes in and she um took the tags off a couple plants >> and um she paid for the tray and then hid the the tags in a barrel below the cash register. So, I'm good there for sure. Today she took the tags off two plants and put them underneath the plants and then she basically paid for the right amount of plants but she paid for the cheaper >> of the two. She basically swip switch >> they're 50% off. >> I know >> she has >> Oh, she does. >> County. Oh, okay. >> Oh, perfect. I appreciate that. >> Um, thank you. She admitted she had removed the price tag that day because of the rain. However, police reminded her of the store employees accusation that she had switched tags, paying for the cheaper item while taking the more expensive one. When they returned, they informed her that she also had an active warrant out of Canton related to a DUI, which she claimed she hadn't even known about. >> Thank you. So, you've got a warrant? I don't know if you knew that. >> I have a warrant? >> Yeah, for a DUI. >> Well, I did all I did all my stuff for that. So sometimes what can happen is like um miss a pay. Do you did you move or anything >> from Canton? >> Okay. To here. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Um I sent I thought >> Yeah. Something must have got missed or missed a court date or something. >> Um let me finish with this real quick. Okay. So on the 25th you came in and I watched the video. All right. And they've actually put out videos of this incident asking for the public's help and identify. Hey, you paid for you took the tags off, hit them underneath a plant. I watched you on video do it. And then you paid for the cheaper of the two plants and loaded up the more expensive ones. Okay. I'm only going to charge you with a misdemeanor today. Although it technically happened on two occasion. I could charge you with a felony. You're already enough trouble. I don't want to do that. Okay. Is that what happened? Pretty much accurately. >> Okay. All right. Well, thank you for being honest. And because you were honest, I'm only going to charge you with the misdemeanor. All right. But I got I was going to give you an NTA, but you got the warrant. So, I have to send you for the warrant. So, I'm going to have to send you for this, but I'll do the misdemeanor. I'll do it under Okay. >> So, when you say like going booking for the for the warrant, yes, you have to see a warrant. Okay. For today, >> no, for the warrant for the DUI warrant. >> Correct. But I I have to go in front of a judge today and all that. And then >> it might be early enough where you still get in front of a judge today. >> Can I Can I get my purse and stuff? >> Yeah, we'll get your We'll get your impound Well, no. We'll I'll talk with them and make sure we can leave this since you were cooperative versus Can you have somebody come pick it up? >> I was going to say, can I call someone? >> Go ahead. Absolutely. >> Yeah. In fact, I would do that right now. See if you can get them to come. >> Victoria, yeah, we're definitely willing to work with you. Okay. So, we don't want to do that to your car and what >> police then showed the surveillance footage. Undeniable evidence that forced Victoria to confess her actions. The decision to downgrade the charge reflected leniency for someone who cooperated. However, the active warrant required police to carry out the arrest according to procedure. >> Uh, you're being cooperative with us. Just don't go to the driver's side. Just stay on the passenger side. Okay. Come on. >> Again, if you truly don't maybe understand. >> Well, actually, hang tight. I'm gonna have him come out and show me which plants you're supposed to have and we'll switch them >> well with him here. So, yeah. Okay. >> But yeah, if you truly maybe are not sure you did everything you're supposed to do with the DUI stuff, >> um, explain that. You know what I mean? But unfortunately, either whether it's today or another time you get pulled over or something like we're just you're >> Is that your only prior is >> Yeah. >> And you've never been in any other trouble? He I'll let you talk to him about that if you want to get out. And uh uh he said you are going to be banned from the property. Okay. >> Understood. my wallet. >> Yeah, go ahead. Just do it from the passenger side here for me. Thank you. >> You all good with me? Um, do you want to just tell her she's banned? I told her, but >> you're banned. >> Understandable. Do Can I have someone come and get the car? It will be a little bit for afterwards or is there >> How how long are you talking? >> Um, I mean, he said it might be like 2 hours. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> It was like someone stealing from you and then pretending to help you look for it. From anxiety, the woman gradually shifted to accepting reality. She calmly faced the fact she was going to jail, started arranging personal matters like her car, and stopped making excuses for her actions. >> So, as silly as it sounds, cuz >> I don't I don't know this process. I'm So, I'm going to count. >> You'll go out to the county jail, you'll get booked in, >> and then for warrants now, you got to see a judge. And so then as silly as it sounds, is that like they start seeing people on three? >> It's up to the It's up to the county. >> And like I >> Yeah, it's up to the county. Um this whole process is new to all of us. So it's up to the judge and the county like when you get to see like I not to the county, it's up to the judge. So is it if you get out there early enough, which you might still, it's possible you could see one today. >> Come on. Let's see. Chocolate thing being cooperative. I don't know. Go get her information. Write her noticed up here. Call it a day. >> If if it wasn't out of your pockets except for money bag, >> she was being very cooperative, though. >> In the end, the woman was arrested and taken to jail on theft charges. Initially, she could have faced harsher charges, but her cooperation led police to reduce them. However, the DUI related warrant still meant she had to be held at the county jail. What do you think of how the police handled this situation? Leave a comment below. From the embarrassment inside the Tesla to the spectacle in the supermarket, greed always finds a way to escalate. On February 5th, 2025, police were called to Meyer after reports of a couple who walked off with an entire cart full of merchandise without paying. They were quickly located at a nearby gas station where the story began to reveal unexpected twists. And this is what happened next. That's >> So you guys saw him? >> I watched him >> on the camera. >> Yeah, I saw him walking through the store, grabbing a bunch of stuff. >> All right. Right out the door. >> All right. You want to hang tight for me? Hey, man. Let me talk to you real quick. So, what's going on, guys? From uh theft protection from the uh Meyer saying you guys loaded up a cart and uh just walked out, started loading it up in the car. Is that true? >> No. >> No. Why is he saying that then? But you guys loaded up. >> I don't know. I'm telling you. I'm not at the Myer gas station. >> So, I'm confused. >> So, you don't know? >> No, it has nothing to do with me. >> So, if we check your car, you didn't take stuff from my >> You can't check my car. >> You happen to have a receipt with you, man. So, we can straighten everything out. >> Receipt for what? >> For stuff on my >> Who? Listen. Do you see me coming out of Meer? Do you see me coming out of Meer? >> He said that he saw you guys coming out of the Meer loading up. >> I understand. >> And you match. Listen. Listen. So, you match the You match exactly the description of what he said. Were you at the Meer? Yes or no? I just said you came to the gas station. I'm at the gas station, right? >> Okay. >> So, why would he why would he be telling me that you're >> I don't know. I'm letting you know I'm at the gas station. So, I'm at the gas station. >> All right. Why is he telling me that my business at the gas? >> Were you guys just saying? >> No, we just pulled up right here to get gas. >> We're literally counting change for gas. >> Where's all this stuff from in the bag? >> This That's what we've been You didn't just pick it up? >> No. >> Listen. Well, >> he's from theft protection. He's telling me. >> Okay. Did you Did you >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Listen. >> Did you catch me at Meyer? Listen. Did you Can you answer my question? Did you catch me at Where's your supervisor? I don't want to speak with you guys. Where's my supervisor? >> Didn't I just ask your supervisor? I have nothing else to see say to you unless you have your supervisor come. >> Listen, man. I just I just want to straighten things out. I'm not speaking with you. >> I just want to straighten things out and figure out what's going on. >> Well, I'm not speaking with you no more. I asked for a supervisor. The man repeatedly demanded to see a supervisor, suggesting that he either had some knowledge of his rights or was simply trying to make things difficult for the officers. He used that as a shield to dodge questions while also projecting a sense of entitlement in challenging their authority. >> You guys are asking me about somewhere I'm not even at. I'm at a gas station getting gas. >> Yeah. Well, I'm talking about where you came before this. >> And like I said, >> we need your ID. >> Can I have a supervisor? >> No, you don't need one right now. >> You if I ask for a supervisor, you have to provide So, no. >> We need your ID. Super >> provider. Super. I will call my lawyer. I mean, if we're going to make this whole situation, >> stay in the car. Stand right here, man. >> Stay in the car. >> You guys stay in the car. Just stay in the car. >> They're not getting no ID from me. They're not getting nothing. >> I told them I'm done talking to them until supervisor comes. That is not my problem. >> All right, man. Come on. >> You got your ID? >> We're asking for a supervisor. No, I currently don't have a ID. >> All right. What's your name and date of birth? >> What's your ID? Where's your ID? >> I asked for supervisor. I'm asking for your ID. Come on, man. Just make Do you understand that you guys do work for me, right? Like you guys you guys work for for the city, which I pay taxes, right? Okay. So, you guys >> pay taxes at home. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Let me see your ID, man. I told you. Just help me figure out what's going on. We can get you on your way. We can get you on your way, man. >> Supervisor. I'm not >> What's your What's your last name? >> Can I please? >> We don't need one right now. I need your name. >> I feel like I need a supervisor. I feel like I'm being targeted for >> You're being detained. >> Why am I being detained? >> For retail. >> Hey, man. Do you not have an ID? Do you not have a driver's license? >> I don't answer any questions. >> This could just be a ticket. >> Yeah. Let me just I'm going just No, I don't have my ID. I have a picture. I have to turn my recording off. Yeah. >> All it is You guys did steal something? >> Yeah, it's the bag in the trunk right there. I mean, it's just a ticket. >> Yeah, it's this right here. >> It's just an ordinance ticket. >> I was going to say I'll take the ticket. He didn't do anything. >> Oh, he's getting arrested. You're just getting a ticket. >> Yeah, he didn't do anything. That's why I hopped out the car. I don't need anything happening with him. >> Okay. >> All right, man. Let's put the phone away. I don't understand why we're not providing supervisor. >> Do you have your ID with you, man? Come on. >> Okay, I understand what you're saying, but I don't >> Yeah, if you understand, just take out the ID then. >> I just don't understand why I'm providing >> because I told you they're telling me that they saw you walk out with merchandise from the store. >> Okay, >> we're trying to figure out what's going on. >> Yeah, I understand. And I'm not trying to cause you no problem. I'm just saying, >> all right, >> it's the same instance, though, as if I say that he did that he stole something out of my car. I mean, I can I can give a description. I can I can do all that. You guys are telling me I need >> He seemed to believe that his social standing as a taxpayer was enough to help him avoid consequences. This was a textbook example of arrogance. When someone thinks they deserve special treatment, his smuggness became even more obvious when he leaned on moral arguments to sidestep responsibility. >> I'm trying to solve this as easy as possible. It is a simple retail theft where I give you a court date. That is it. Because this guy's got you on video. >> Okay. I mean, but I >> I'm not just harassing you for no reason. >> And I'm not saying that. I I totally understand that. But I asked him for a supervisor. I don't like the way he spoke with me. >> We don't need We don't need a supervisor. >> But if I request all it is, it's a local ordinance ticket. >> But it's my right. If I request a supervisor and I want one on scene, it's my right. >> 35 minutes. >> I mean, I would like the supervisor. Okay. But I would like the supervisor here for me to file the complaint. >> You can file it online. >> Got to do it. You got to do it. >> It's online. Everyone can access that So, do I So, I'm going to give you my ID, but do I got to call the police to have the supervisor to come? Like, I'm >> If you call the police, we're going to arrest you for misusing 911. >> We're going to go to court and you're going to make yourself look very terrible. I'm trying to save you guys some time. >> How are you saving this time? >> Guys, we're going to we're going to >> We asked you three times three times video. >> So, plain and simple. >> Pulled out my wallet and said, "Here, I'm going to give him my ID, >> baby." Okay. Like, can I talk? No. No. You can walk with me. Let me just talk. >> Hey, man. Just listen to your listen to what your girl's telling you real quick. >> Please, please, just give them your ID. >> I was giving I'm giving you. >> You're not that wrong. This has nothing to do with you. Like I even told them this is >> I did some dumb [ __ ] You was confused as to why they even walked up to you. Okay. Just give them your ID. This one got nothing to do with you. They just need to identify you cuz you were with me. >> Okay. I'm giving him my ID. I just told him that. But I have it on video heard just saying that I'm getting arrested for obstruction. So now I do want the supervisor to come. I really do. I'm not going to ask. >> I didn't know that she was saying he was getting arrested. I'm not going to ask again. >> I asked him three times to provide his ID. He then refused. So if you're going to continue to refuse, then it's going to be obstruction. So all right, we're fine now. But if you continue to do that, then yes, it's obstruction. Stop. Stop. >> I need a supervisor here. This is >> We don't You're not getting arrested. You comply. >> You don't need to extra. I'm trying to go home. >> I'm trying to go home. >> Go over there. Just go over there. >> I'm trying to tell him off. >> If I call my supervisor and ask and he asked why. >> We don't need him. Officers lowered their tone to deescalate and encourage cooperation, but the man shifted his focus from rights to claiming he was being disrespected. Clearly just another tactic to stall. At this point, his girlfriend tried to calm things down, hoping to keep him from being arrested for obstructing. >> Should we tell? Okay. >> That's fine. That's fine. >> So, was all that stuff in those bags? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I told you. >> Okay. >> All right. Can we grab that? We'll just have you guys sit in the car and then we'll give you guys ordinance ticket. Okay. That's it. You ain't got no warrants, man. I want to go. No, but I want to speak with the supervisor still. I don't care what she says. He was a supervisor. >> So if I So if I do call my supervisor, what am I going to tell him? >> That I would like I would like to speak with more than that. >> For what though? For what? We're leaving with a ticket. So for what? Why are you calling him? It's what she said. It doesn't matter what she said. Clearly, right? It don't matter. So you calling a supervisor keeping us here another 30 40 minutes when we trying to go car. Why are you trying to do all of this type? >> If I want that then I get that. I am a grown ass man. I make my own decisions. So stop. Please. I'm not arguing with you right now. I'm not doing that. >> Cuz you sat here. >> Okay. I would like to make a formal complaint about >> I I don't I don't I mean I don't have to tell you exactly why I would like to make a formal. >> You want him coming up here? >> You guys don't have to. It's all on video supervisor because she told you you were under arrest because we're still standing here. >> I'm going to walk away if you >> I don't give a at this point. You're not listening. You're not listening. >> You are trying to cause a scene. >> You are dead ass trying to cause a scene. >> Give me the keys. >> You understand? We had every right to do what we did, right? That's what I'm saying. >> I do understand. >> Cuz you're involved actually in a crime and you have to ID yourself cuz you're lawfully detained. >> Yeah. And if I but if I ask for a supervisor, you have to provide >> That's not That's not how that works. >> Okay. >> Oh, we we have to have a reason why I'm going to make my sergeant drive 45 minutes for some [ __ ] >> I mean, I have a lawyer. >> You don't need a lawyer. You're not getting anything out of this. >> Oh, I'm I'm Yeah, I'm getting it. She's taking heat for >> After finally agreeing to cooperate, the man still insisted on speaking to a supervisor as his last attempt to be heard. However, once police confirmed the value of the stolen merchandise and explained the legal consequences, the charge was reduced from a felony to a citation and his attitude noticeably softened. >> Can we check real quick? >> I mean, no, I don't. >> They're saying they're they're saying that there's more stuff. I don't want to I don't want to charge you with more than >> They're saying it's milk. >> They're saying that it's milk like water and some white box like a mattress topper or something. What is it? >> That doesn't make sense. >> Do you have anything in the in the trunk? Shane, I know you've been honest with us, you know. You mind just showing me real quick? >> Some stuff in here is mine. I don't give a what they say. >> So, this bag is from Meer, too. >> That's from Meer. >> This >> Uh-huh. >> And they said Gatorade. That's mine. That's mine. >> Okay. But the milk and so these stuff. Yeah. They said that it was like a another bag like some They didn't know if it was like water or like the Gatorades. Yeah, that's why I said >> Okay, so the Gatorades and then another bag of stuff. >> No, we don't have another bag. >> No, no, this bag. This bag right here. >> Okay. >> All right. >> Okay. And I appreciate you being honest. I know it's >> I was saying still more food and then I just didn't want to ain't got [ __ ] on right now. >> Should if that if you're being honest with me and that that's everything then that should be it. >> Do you know what number they're at now? >> I have no idea. I know my partner took the uh other bags and what was that at? >> I have no idea. >> What quantity you would have me arrested? >> I we we'll figure out. We'll let you know. Okay, Shane. I I appreciate you being honest with us. All right, Shy. So, listen. The total amount came out to $300. >> $352.77 in state of Illinois. Over 300 is a felony. And right now, if Meyer had wanted to press charges, both of you, both of you would have gotten arrested and your car would have been towed. But they just said they just want the ordinance violation. You're not going to pursue any criminal complaint. You guys are formally trespassed. Can't go back. Both of you. Okay. So, you guys are both getting an ordinance ticket. The uh hearing is March 25th at 5 p.m. Both of you are getting an ordinance ticket. There's They're not charging. No, it's an ordinance ticket, but there's still a hearing. Okay. Would this be a violation? >> No. >> In the end, the couple was not taken into custody, but still faced retail theft charges, which could have been a felony since the goods were worth more than $350. However, Meyer chose not to pursue criminal charges. Instead, they received a local ordinance citation and were permanently banned from the store. And while the greed of this couple caused chaos in the supermarket, a far more cunning scheme was already waiting at the checkout counter. On August 29th, 2024, a bold scam took place inside a bank. A woman came in with a fake check and stolen documents, thinking she could fool everyone. But the staff quickly noticed something suspicious and called the police and then everything exploded. >> Yeah. Hi, how you doing? Come here. Hang right. You good for that? >> Yeah. >> Hey, >> what's going on today here? What were we trying to do? >> Nothing. I was just cashing a rent check. >> A rent check? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Who called us? >> I did. >> Okay. What's going on? >> She's affiliated with that Audi. >> Which Audi? >> Right here. >> On the other lot. Okay. >> Right now, you're going to be detained. Okay. >> Excuse me. >> Cuz we're investigating a possible fraud >> involving you. >> Okay. So, that's I'm letting you know what's going on. >> I'm being detained. >> Yes. You come here with anybody? >> No. How did you get here? >> I took a Uber, but that's why I was checking to see what >> Uber. >> It was a little uh I think it was a Jeep like >> Okay. Can you do me a favor? >> Let's go. Let's go take a seat in here. >> Okay. >> We're going to go take a seat. Come over here with me. >> Claiming to be our customer, >> right? >> So, this person here is one of your customers. >> Correct. This person correct >> that name. >> So she provided me with address. >> Hold on. Just you got to go slow with me. So this name here, who is this? >> Our customer. >> Okay. >> So the imposttor, >> right, >> came to withdraw funds >> from the account, >> right? >> Right. The this is made out to the person. So she has this ID. That's definitely not her, though. No. >> But how do you know it's not her? That's what I'm asking. That's her. >> Okay. >> Those two don't match. >> Okay. You have any uh ID on you? >> Um no, she took it. >> Okay. Is that a valid ID? >> Yeah, >> that's who you are. Current address, everything like that. >> Even though she tried to act innocent, her nervousness only raised more suspicion in the eyes of the officers. The tension grew as they and the bank employees checked the information. In the end, the staff confirmed that the ID she presented did not match the account holder's photo. arrest. >> Are you kidding me? >> Yes, Mallerie. I'm not kidding you. First, >> hold it. Can I put my >> You can put it down. Yes. >> Why are you being sold? >> I'm not being aggressive, ma'am. Okay. >> You're going to be You're under arrest right now. I told you we're investigating a fraud. >> This is not you. >> Excuse me? >> This is your name? >> What's your name? >> Am I I don't understand this. I want I need to talk to my lawyer. There's something wrong. >> No. What happens is you're under arrest because you're trying to cash a check. This is not you. That's not me. >> What's your name? >> Dor. >> This That's your name. Dors. Let's see what else you got on here. You have anything else you need an ID on it? >> No. >> Exactly. >> Double tighten these so they don't slip. Okay. >> You just listen. You just found it. Dear, listen to me. I'm just going to say this to you, right? I didn't start this job an hour ago. I just want to be I just want to be I just want to be 100% upfront with you, right? You have the right to remain silent. And then you say, "Canon will be against you in the court of law." given the right to an attorney to have him or her with you before and or during any questioning. If you want to give up that right and you want to talk to him about what's going on, that's all good. But >> what I'm telling you is is you just told me you found you just presented this ID, which is not you. And then you said you found the wallet outside with a cash check with a check made out to that person. That's not who you are. Then they hear me out. Then they showed me a picture of who the actual bank holder is. >> This is not you. Is that is that car over there with you? >> What car? No, I was in a Jeep. >> Okay. They're from Lafayette. >> I think this >> What's your Hold on. What's your name? >> I need to talk to my lawyer. Is it not? >> Can I have my bag? >> Yeah, you'll get your bag. >> Your worries, ma'am. We'll get you your bag. >> What the? >> Right here. >> Would you quit pushing me today? >> I didn't make a call. You uh here one of you would you one of you guys just bring >> I just got out of the super car. >> One of you guys want to just go in with him so we can start and this way I can get some statements. >> You don't have to answer questions. You don't have to comply but your phone's going to get taken and it's going to get dumped. That is you and that ID. >> I'm not answering anything until I speak to my lawyer. >> Perfect. You don't have to at this point. I'll see you inside. When faced with undeniable evidence, the mismatch between the ID and the account holder, the suspect's mindset quickly shifted from denial to despair and resistance. Knowing she was exposed, she lost her initial composure, revealing anger, frustration, and clear anxiety. >> Something wrong. He's like, "I'm not finding you in our system." So, he kept digging. >> I think she has an ear%. >> They're reading her the social. She kept saying 158. Like, she didn't know. Yeah, we've been down this >> phone on her. >> She She We've been down this road a lot, >> right? And then the other people really get the majority of the money. And what happens is they usually see us pull in, they split, and she gets called. >> Yeah. >> She's more than likely you'll find that she's desperate. >> We get a lot, but I I get like so amped up that I'm like, "Oh, no. You're a fraudster." That I forget to call the cops. >> Yeah. Call us. Listen, call us because it's like these things lead to some serious stuff, you know? I mean, I I I did retail theft and fraud for like a long time over at the mall, and these people cause a lot of damage. >> And then what'll happens is is that they'll visit the next branch. The next branch down would be West Orange >> or Cedar Grove or they end up in Newark. >> And then one branch may not pick up what the other picked up. >> Some some branches that we've dealt with have like an internal where you'll get like a you'll be like, "Hey, this guy you call security." And then they send like a blanket email heads out to all the So, we've gotten a lot of people like that, but clearly she knows the story, right? cuz she told me she found the wallet out in the lot. >> Mhm. >> Which was the same name with her picture on the license. >> Yeah. >> So, if I could ask you, well, it needs a voluntary statement from you. It doesn't have to be crazy, but just just a simple fact of like just her behavior, right? You don't like I told you, you don't have to get in like hobbies and like weird [ __ ] you're into. You don't have to do none of that. You know what I mean? Weird weird feet or none of that nonsense. You know what I mean? Like selling your feet on Instagram. You don't have to get into none of that. All right. Well, I will. >> All right. You got it. >> I told you no weird [ __ ] about your feet. None of that. Right. >> Right. No food fetishes. >> You sure? >> I mean, >> Ryan. >> Yes. >> I was just going to make something up, but I just I couldn't. >> This exchange highlighted the officer's experience in handling fraud cases. They understood how organized crime operations worked, where suspects were often just pawns. At the same time, the situation underscored the importance of vigilance and close cooperation between banks and law enforcement in stopping large-scale financial crimes. >> All those big hitters now are doing what what are measly crimes, but the profit is very high. >> You hear me? But she's part of something bigger. >> That's all she is. She's she's just part of something bigger. Hi, guys. Have a blessed one. Keep up. I just want I just want to say this real quick. Okay, you you you know what's up, right? Let's just cut right to the chase. I'm trying to make this helpful for you, right? I already found all the IDs and the social security numbers and everything. So, like I know what goes on, right? So, what I'm going to tell you is in order to help yourself a little bit cuz we're going to find out who you are. Make sure you're honest when I ask you who you are and it'll make things easier for you. Other than that, like it's just going to be harder and harder and harder. So, that's up to you. I already see all the Pennsylvania licenses, social security. You you you know what's going on, right? This is what you do. I mean, cash check. I mean, I see I I'm familiar with this. You're not I didn't just start an hour ago. You know what I mean? >> Instead of continuing to question her, the officer presented undeniable evidence, completely breaking down the suspect's resistance. In the end, she was forced to reveal her real name, proof of how effective this strategy was. The case closed with a series of charges against her, including forgery, identity theft, and obstruction of law enforcement. >> I'm just saying this is just what I do. So, what I'm trying to do is I don't believe in treating people horribly, right? I don't believe in making my life or your life any difficult. The fact of the matter is some days I don't catch the bad guy. Some days you get caught. Some days I win. Some days you win. Right? What I'm going to offer to you is is like be honest about who you are and then we can move forward. That's all. I'm not going to question you about anything. I just want to make sure I know who you are and then we can move forward from there. Fair enough. What's your first name? >> Amanda. >> Amanda what? >> What is it? >> Amanda Welch. Amanda Welch, you're on body cube. I'm asking you to be truthful. Is that your name? >> Yes. >> Listen. Listen. I I I've been doing this a long time, right? I seen the tin foil in there smoking pills. I seen that. I I know what goes on. >> Why? I don't smoke pills. >> You don't use any drugs? >> No, I don't. >> Okay. What's What Where did you lay your head last night? >> On a bench. I got off a bus. >> Okay. From where? >> And a person asked me to do this. I did. >> No, I listen. I I respect it and I understand it. What was your last known address? >> I can't give you one, >> Amanda. I I'm I'm being honest. I can't give you one. I've been trying to get away from my exboyfriend for >> almost a year and a half. >> What address was that at? Where did you Where was your last known address? >> Was in Florida in Florida. >> I'll be up in a little bit. I got a lot going on. So, when I have five or six different IDs on here with different names, would that lead me to believe you're not being truthful? >> Yes, I want a lawyer. I want a lawyer. >> Listen, you can have a lawyer. Listen to me. Here's the story. You can have a lawyer all you want, but will you not entitled to lawyer is identifying who you are? So, we can charge you with obstruction administration of law if you fail to provide your information. Well, I also know that it's the law because this happened to me before because I didn't have a home and that I don't have to say a word because it's my right until I get a lawyer. >> Amanda, listen to me. >> And it seems how you keep playing this. >> Amanda, I understand you're caught up. I get it. >> Caught up. You do. You don't get it. >> Okay. How old are you? >> I'm 46. I'll be 47. Okay. And your last known address was Fort Myers, Florida. Yes. >> Ultimately, the woman was charged with multiple serious offenses, including forgery, possession of a fraudulent credit card, identity theft, and falsifying government documents. Her repeated lies about her identity also led to an added charge of obstructing law enforcement. With these charges, she could face prison time, fines, and probation depending on state law. From a crowded bank to an isolated house in the woods, the chase was far from over. On May 31st, 2023, a cosmetics theft at Walmart suddenly turned into chaos. The female suspect not only attacked a security officer, but also fled straight into the woods. Police were forced into a tense chase. >> Sure. Uh cost medics close to like $200 something dollars. So when we got out to the front, stop some of her purse and then she also steal some inside her purse. So we got to stop her. She didn't want to come back. Of course, we can't touch her. So like at least try to retrieve the merchandise. At that time she like you can't touch me. >> Guys there. >> There's guys. >> Yeah. She she met she met up with a guy with a red hat and a red shirt. >> You've been back there before? >> No. >> No. >> So I mean if you want to walk with you, I'll walk with you. >> No, I'll wait for her. I don't want I don't want them to shoot at us and then you get hit or something. >> They have for the for for back there. They have >> like a homeless camp. >> I cuz I live in an apartment complex right there. Whoever saw her concealing, don't talk about Don't talk about what you guys are going to write so it doesn't >> I need you to tell me what you did, what happened to you, and what you saw, what happened to you. Gotcha. >> So, you're going to be a victim to the battery? >> Mhm. >> Sorry. Going to be a victim to the pettier. >> Yes. >> And your security? Both y'all security? >> Correct. >> Okay. >> Was there a girl standing here? >> Yeah, that's what we're looking for. >> She following me. >> What are you, Da or Uber? >> No. No. Uh, she works for me. >> What was she wearing? >> Oh, I don't know. I was just kicking her up. I was supposed to be here at 10:00. It's 10:12. >> Did she text you? >> No. No, I met her when I met her a few days ago. She's working for me. Where is she? I'm taking her with me. >> Well, if it's what I'm looking for, she's going to jail. >> Oh my god. Really? >> Uh, if you want to pull up real quick, I'll talk to you in a second. >> Yeah. >> At first, the suspect's actions were limited to petty theft. But when stopped by security, she immediately turned aggressive, attacking and running. Her escape into the woods showed calculation, taking advantage of familiar terrain to hide. Not stopping there, she even exploited the kindness of a woman willing to help her. >> Is she real skinny? >> Um, yeah, she's real skinny. >> She homeless. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> She was going to work for me. >> Doing what? >> Cleaning. >> She's probably going to steal from you. >> I don't think so. >> She's stealing and hitting them. >> Oh, she is? >> No, these are security from and she stole and then slapped them. She had that big pink curse. >> Dark hair. Yeah, that's her. Yep. She's going to jail. >> All right, I'm out of here. >> I'll tell her you're fired. Even though she was homeless and in need of help, she didn't hesitate to break the law, showing disregard for others goodwill. When the woman decided to stop helping, the suspect lost her chance to turn her life around. At that point, officers began moving deeper into the woods to track her down. >> Jesus Hello, >> Jillian. >> What's her name? >> Huh? Uh, >> huh? >> You don't like that? >> Damn. >> Ma'am, >> what's your name? Where'd you come from? >> Really? >> Yeah, >> man. Um >> from >> the stair face. >> The single court team. We get what Mike, >> huh? >> We take pictures of police, >> right? When police found her, the suspect initially pretended to cooperate reluctantly. But the moment she realized she couldn't escape charges, she exploded in resistance. This sudden shift clearly reflected her unstable mindset and poor emotional control. >> Every [ __ ] assist there is in the [ __ ] book. Cool. Okay, stop it. Put your hand. Drop it. What? [Music] Her reactions showed obvious psychological instability and refusal to cooperate. She even spat at the officers. This gave them legitimate grounds to use necessary force to restrain and handcuff her. Afterwards, police returned to Walmart to collect more evidence and review security footage. Thanks. >> So you going in mid >> you guys. Okay. >> Yeah. >> Was the battery outside? >> Yeah. >> Is there cameras in that area here? >> It is. >> There is. The court ultimately dropped the theft charge, but found her guilty of resisting. sentencing her to 31 days in jail, court costs, and a ban from returning to the store. Well, why is somebody telling us that you did? >> No. I don't know why. >> Why is somebody telling us that you dropped the wallet? >> No. I don't know. This is the wallet that I dropped. >> Police asked the suspect if she had dropped the wallet. At first, she denied it, insisting it was her own. However, under pressure, she admitted to picking up the victim's brown wallet and then dropping it again, but firmly denied taking the money. She even challenged officers to search her to prove her innocence. >> A witness saw you drop some other lady's wallet. >> I found the wallet and I dropped it. >> Okay. Where's the cash out of it? >> I don't know. >> What do you mean you don't know? >> I don't know. You can show search me. Search me. >> Where's the What's this? >> I don't know. We can't I mean to to to put her in custody, we we have we have to have affidavit signed by the victim, the witness. Pardon me. >> You guys found cash? >> Well, she's got cash on her, but how do we know that it's yours versus hers? Um, but we we've got we we've got a we've got somebody to witness her dropping the wallet. Okay. >> When do when do you come back home? >> Friday. >> This Friday. What time? >> I'll be here by 3:00 p.m. >> And I'll be flying. That that's part of it. >> Yeah. >> So, I mean you if if if somebody didn't see her drop it, you would have been out that. >> So, all right. But, uh a detective will be contacting you. >> Officers knew they couldn't hold her without the victim's cooperation and the necessary paperwork showing strict adherence to legal procedure. But when they returned and told her she couldn't leave because she had been identified as the one who stole the wallet, the suspect immediately fell into panic. >> So, did you did you find something? Can you Can you give me my passport? >> No, not yet. >> Not yet. >> Not yet. You're not free to go. >> Why? In the morning. 7:00 in the morning. Okay. That's tomorrow. And you got plenty of time to worry about that. >> Yes, you do. you got plenty of time to worry about. >> Her panic and uncooperative attitude became more and more obvious, constantly changing her story about her flight time showed she was trying anything to escape. But when she heard detectives would be reviewing surveillance footage, she realized there was no way out. Slowly gave in and eventually confessed. >> Hey, that's that's not what we've been told. We've been told otherwise. So, you're not free to go. So, aren't you innocent until I tell you proven guilty? >> Sorry. >> Aren't you innocent until you prove guilty? >> That's right. He's going to check the video and then like I said, depending on what he finds, we'll go from there. Okay. But in the meantime, you have to stay calm and you have to stay seated. >> Can Can I Can I please have a margarita? >> No, you can't have a margarita. >> No, you can't have a margarita right now. >> When we're done when we're done here, if if you're free to go, then you can go have a margarita then. >> In the end, the woman was taken to jail and charged with thirdderee grand theft due to the value of the stolen property. However, after confessing, the charge was reduced to petty theft. Her final sentence was fines and court costs without jail time or probation, showing the court's leniency. On January 13th, 2023, officers responded to a car crash involving a young man who' taken his girlfriend's car without permission. When the girl showed up, brought there by her mom, and saw her beloved car totaled, she lost it right there in front of the cops. [Applause] >> You need to get up. Get up. >> Watching you. >> Motor, please. >> Get off of me. Get off of me. Get off of me. Get off of me. Stop touching me. Tell the Get off of me right now. Let me go. Mine's the one that's broken. >> They're calling the a car for you. >> I don't give a Play that camera back. That camera back. He threw me down. putting camera back right now. >> Sit down, mom. >> Now we're done. Now we're done. Okay, we're done. Okay, >> we're done. >> I didn't do anything to you. >> Do not move. Do you understand me? >> Do not move. >> What are you doing? >> Do not move. >> What are you doing? >> Nobody was touching you. You're pedophile. Pedop pedophile touching me. >> I don't think so, ma'am. >> I did anything to you. >> Are you done with your mouth? >> No. >> Get me out. I can't breathe. >> You can breathe just fine. >> No, I can't. >> You're screaming and yelling. You can breathe just fine. >> I can't breathe. I can't breathe. >> You can breathe just fine. Good. Then let's roll over. >> Then let's roll over. >> There. Now you're fine. I mean, who wouldn't be heartbroken seeing their prized car wrecked, especially when it's someone you trusted who did it? But lashing out at the wrong people, that only makes things worse and pushes away the very sympathy you might have gotten. >> Help. Somebody help. Help. >> You're fine. >> Help. Help. Help. Why did you do this? >> Not turn and face me. >> Why did you do this? >> Cuz the way you're acting. >> Why did you do this? I wasn't touching nobody. I wasn't doing anything. >> So why do you do this? >> What do I do? Why are you acting this way? >> This is just going to make me more mad. Why would you do this? >> That's unfortunate. >> Why would you do this? >> Why would you act the way you acted? >> Why would you? Because my car is crashed. >> And it's a car. >> And it's my car. And it's a car. Just look at you. >> No, you can't look at me. Stay safe. Because I said so. >> Then get your neck off of my neck. >> I'm sitting right here. Get your hand off my neck. It hurts, sir. >> It doesn't hurt. Now stop. >> Forward. >> No, you're not. Now stop. >> Mommy is hurting me. >> I'm not hurting you. >> He's hurting me. >> Are you done? >> He's hurting me. >> You need to stop. >> You need to stop. Do you understand me? >> He's hurting me. >> He asked you to go sit in the car. He asked you to sit in the car and you wouldn't do it. You know, now you're being arrested. >> No, I'm not. >> You probably are. >> No, I'm not. >> You did not do what he asked you to do. Was simply sit in the car. I shouldn't have brought you here. I didn't know where to get to live. >> Look at my car. >> Can you get my shoes in my purse? >> Who cares about your car? You're getting arrested. I don't give a your car. You're out of control. >> You did exactly what I told you not to do. >> I want to let my dream. >> You didn't do what he asked you to do. I was mad about my car. >> Am I getting arrested? >> Yes. >> For what? >> Luke. Luke. Luke. >> Hold on. Can I talk to him? >> Just one second. >> What am I being arrested? >> Not yet. Now. Okay. Hold on. Just stay. Stay right here up against the wall. >> Luke. Hello. Come here. >> At this point, the whole scene feels like it's spiraling out of control. The girl's reaction is intense. way over the top for something she didn't even cause. But keep watching, you'll start to realize she's not losing control at all. In fact, she's sharp, calculated, and totally manipulative. >> I can't feel my legs. >> I can't feel my legs. >> You need to stand up. >> I can't feel my legs, >> man. Come on, >> I can't feel my legs. >> Other side. >> I can't feel down her in the car to go home. >> One step at a time. >> I can't feel my legs. I need to back off right now. >> I need you to stand up. You need to stand up. I need to stand up. >> Stand up. >> I can't feel my legs. >> I can't feel my legs. I'm serious. >> I'm serious. I can't. >> Yes, you can. >> I need to stand up. >> You never seen the car. >> Get in the car now. >> Sophia, listen to that. [Applause] >> Sophia, you need to stand up. need to stand up. >> You're not going to get yourself hurt. Okay. We need to get you inside the car, >> Sophia. You need to stand up. Let's go. Come on. >> You did this to yourself. Let's go. >> Lean forward. Stand up. >> Ow. Ow. My arm is popped. Ow. It popped. >> No, it didn't. Now, come on. >> It popped. >> No, it didn't. Now, stand up. Stand up. You can stand up. I'm so scared. >> Stand up. >> You kick it with us. That's going to be it. >> I'm so scared. >> Get in the car now. [Applause] >> She wasn't even involved. She's the owner of the white car that was total. Her boyfriend was driving. She came here, comes out of the car, screaming and hollering. I'm like, "Well, this is great." Goes over, does her thing, comes over, and just wouldn't stop yelling, screaming, doing all this crazy traffic on her, get back in the car. And it was downhill from there. Yes, sir. I just can't wait. Oh my goodness. So, a crash out here and the vehicle owner shows up and uh she's not even in the crash, but it's her car. Her boyfriend, I guess, who wasn't supposed to have it uh got in a crash. Really, it's not a big deal, but she is carrying on dramatic going freaking crazy. If her mental state is really as unstable as she claims, then how is she even allowed to drive, let alone own a car? Driving takes maturity, responsibility, and a clear head. None of which she seems to have in this moment. >> She turned and and started like to go off again. So, I grabbed her and then she of course said it went to the ground. It starts going crazy again. Like I pushed her on the ground, blah blah blah. I'm like, "No, dear." So, I let her go. She sat up, waited, waited, waited. Then she tried to get up again and storm off. So, I'm like, "Nope, we're done." And so I grab her when we go to the ground and I cover her and that's pretty much it. Now she's saying on my shoulder and uh she faked passed out. So I'm like we're going no matter what now. If nothing else, it's it's resisting. But I guess I can try and get statements from these people over here who are probably not going to want to be involved. So we'll see what happens. It's a happy break. So just FYI, >> they can't. >> Sorry about what's going on here. >> No, I mean it's my fault. I shouldn't have brought her in. I knew that she was equally my fault because I knew she was I knew this was going she was really upset that she has the issues it's my fault for I needed to get him and try to get this done 18 you know this summer so she was extremely upset because we don't have coverage on your car and this we told her come your car that's it we can't get you another car >> you're covering other people like yourself >> right right that kind of insurance but but because she's younger, you know, you cover her car and that car it's that's already paid for. The car we bought it straight out. So, she was upset about it because, you know, she's thinking she didn't have a car. She's got a new job. How are they going to get back to Gainesville? They were fighting before we left today, which is probably partly why, you know, I know the road was wet, but it doesn't help when you're not driving when you shouldn't drive emotionally. Nevertheless, we got here. Officer Meadows is fantastic. Great guy. Time to go through. She immediately when she saw her car started just going crazy, screaming, yelling, upset and everything about her car, being very dramatic obviously to upset Luke as well, but not fake because I know it was true. But again, it should be my fault. I shouldn't have drove her here. But I had no choice. I needed to try to get him. I need to try to get the car. >> Now, let's talk about her mom. Rarely do you see a parent stay this calm under pressure. No excuses, no fingerpointing, just letting her daughter deal with the consequences. In a world full of blame games, that kind of honesty is different. It's refreshing and honestly pretty admirable. >> If she really control herself, not only would she not have a car today, but she would get arrested today and that's not something that she wants to do. So, I thought she completely understood that. But I think she still thinks she's a kid because she hasn't been 18 for very long. what happened to her cuz she's been anchored for being extremely emotionally like that's not like understanding or calming down that that doesn't happen with you when you're a kid you know you don't now you things are all different >> but anyway he was very nice he tried to work with her she didn't listen to him she did when he asked her to do so he he grabbed her thing her hand but she she did try everything that he did was fine my parents my mom was a man law enforcement mainly. So I get it and you guys stop like or anything right now. >> And kids nowadays are disrespectful because all the social media will just be bad. They're not. >> All right. He was more than patient. I I do wish that I could have maybe had one more chance now that she realized that she would be getting arrested. I don't think she thought she was getting arrested or she was going to get arrested. She feels justified that she's upset, >> but not that anything else. Everything happened. He did everything by the book. it was way more patient probably than most people would have been up to that point. So, I don't blame him and you know, I apologize for any disrespect that she said to him. I just, you know, it's really my fault. I shouldn't have brought her here um to begin with because I know that I I knew this was going to happen >> down deep. I knew I knew this would happen. She couldn't control my >> listen to me cuz you're not listening to anyone. This is why you are where you are. Listen, the best thing you can do for yourself when you get to jail, do not fight with anyone going to rape you. No, nobody's going to rape you. That's going to No, they're not. So, >> people are going to touch me. >> She can't. She needs to go to >> I understand what she's going to touch. >> Do not make it worse on you. Fight people. When you get there, you're going to have more charges. Okay. Can you please >> I'm so scared. Why can't I just go? >> Don't be scared. You're going to go >> because you you made it with us. >> Yes, you did. >> Ma'am, I'm sorry. She he would talk to right now. Come. >> In the end, the girl was taken to jail and charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. If convicted, she could be looking at a fine between $250 and $1,000, probation, up to 6 to 12 months behind bars, and mandatory community service. We're Mr. and Mrs. >> Let them do what they have to do. >> You're the biggest mother I've ever met in my life. I don't even >> Then came the insults. She turned nasty fast, talking trash, throwing out jabs about money, and hurling offensive comments at the officers. At one point, it almost felt like she wanted to get arrested, like she was daring them to cuff her. >> I'm not paying $3,000. >> I am not paying $3,000 for this. Are you kidding me? >> Are you kidding me? I don't need a $3,000. >> Yes, I do. >> And I'm not paying for $3,000. No. Who's going to help you when they look at the [ __ ] cameras and see how illegally you arrested me? Like I'm a mother. >> You can do that, but you're going to be spending night down in K County jail. >> I would rather do that and see your job end up in the dumb of the world. Oh, I punched you in your little stupid chest and it hurt because you wouldn't get the off of me like every othering police offer that officer that assaults every othering person. Oh, I hope your penis is sick. Oh, cognito water sip water. Oh. Oh, I hope you have >> I'm going to be so going. No, it's literally him. Can any place my shoulders back? >> There you go. There you go. I'm going to go inside this one for you as well. >> This is fine. I'm going to be so clean with you. It's him. >> All right. Don't look at him now. >> No, he's a mother. >> Don't look at him then. Let's go this way. >> Can you please get my bags out of the backyard? >> No. They're going to go to you uh after after you get out of here. Okay. >> Even after claiming to be the niece of a police chief, Lauren didn't get any special treatment. She was arrested and charged with simple assault, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. So now the real question is, what can we do to keep situations like this from happening, especially with young adults? Coming up next, what happens when a woman slips out of her handcuffs after being arrested? On February 17th, 2024 in Oakair, Wisconsin, a routine patrol near a hotel turned into something much bigger when an officer spotted a car pulling out of the lot. A quick license plate check revealed the driver, Michelle, had a suspended license and was listed on a BO alert. Moments later, her car was stopped at a nearby gas station. >> Jump back in your car for me, please. Jump back in your car. Quick trip on Otter Road. Adam Robert Zebra 5292. >> Good. >> 104. You can have start over here. >> Uh Michelle, you don't have a license. >> How is that? I just I don't have a license. >> It's suspended. >> For what? >> I haven't looked that far into it, so I don't know the reason. >> I mean, I have I >> Look, you don't have a valid license. Stop arguing with me. >> I didn't know that. I honestly >> Okay. Why? Why are you being so argumentative? >> Because I just got done with work. I was just trying. Apparently, I don't have a license. I don't know. >> Is this your car form? >> Yes, this is my car. >> Do you have insurance on it? >> No. >> Okay. What are you up to? >> I just got done with work literally 6 minutes ago. >> What do you What do you do for work? >> I work at a group home. >> Okay. Are you coming from the group home? >> Yes, I work out in I was stopping to see if I could What? Hello? I'm at Quick Trip. Yes. I didn't know I had didn't have a license. When did I when was it sus suspended or whatever it is? Dude, I have >> I can tell you that here in a minute once I go back to my car. I >> pulled over or anything since I got out. Literally, I haven't had a ticket or nothing. >> What are you up to? >> Literally, I got done with work. I was going to stop and see what he was doing and I'm going to my friend's house. I'm homeless. >> Okay. >> This is my home. >> You live out of your car? >> Yeah, pretty much. >> Okay. I got clothes scattered all over Oaklair between my kids house and my friends's house. Dude, I finally found a job. But if I don't have a license, I don't have a job. >> Okay, just hang tight for me. I'll come back up here and chat with you. Okay. >> As soon as the officer approached, the smell of weed hit him like a wall. That alone gave him reason to dig deeper. On top of that, Michelle wasn't even supposed to be near that hotel. Court ordered restrictions, part of her supervision terms. That alone was enough to confirm she was in violation. up. I'm going to pull her out, see if she'll uh give us consent. If not, we'll act 79 it. >> Okay, sounds good. I was just looking at the report. So, >> okay. I didn't know she was on paper, too, just now. But she just came from Gartens and she's got a no contact with Gartens. So, >> yeah, that's good enough. >> See if she wants to be cooperative or not. All right. What is she suspended for? >> Is it just hers or two in there? >> It's just her. >> Just her. >> Yeah. I'm trying to see what she's suspended for because she's all up in arms about that. >> Have you jump out? I'll talk to you behind your car real quick. Is there anything illegal in your car that I need to know about? >> I don't think so. I >> Keep your hand out of your pocket for me. >> I smoke weed. I don't know. I might have lunch or something in the car. I don't know. >> If you did have a bunch in your car, where would it be? >> In my bag. >> Okay. which you got one in the front and one in the back. >> I beat the one in the front. >> Okay. There is a blunt in there or >> I don't I don't know if there's one in there or not. I I don't remember if I took it out or not. >> Depends out of your pockets. >> I'm sorry. My cold. >> Well, yes. So am I. >> Um so you're suspended for child support. You must have not paid to child support. So they suspended. >> Dude, I haven't had a job. I literally just found a job 5 days ago. >> Okay, hands out of your pock. Stop digging in your pockets. Would you give us consent to search your car? >> I can't tell you no. >> Okay. Well, I'm just trying to see if you want to be cooperative with us or not. >> I'm never not cooperative. I don't want to go to jail foring weed. I have to work tomorrow. I just got this job. Ignoring you. I'll talk. >> Hands out of your pockets. >> Lifetime. Okay. >> She'll just put your hands back. >> For what? >> You keep putting your hands in your pockets after I've told you 16 times not to. >> Amazing. I don't have a coat on like you guys do. >> I don't have a coat. I just got polyester shirt. >> I You know what? I have been more than cooperative with you guys. Seriously. >> Okay, this doesn't mean you're going to jail. >> You're just being detained. Okay. >> Michelle didn't go full Karen, but she played a different card, acting tired, pleading for compassion, stalling with every trick in the book. Problem is, officers have seen it all before. Sympathy won't overwrite court orders. Okay. Can we get that door open? Or >> I'd rather stand outside, I think. >> Well, we're going to sit you in the car cuz you're already complaining that it's cold out. >> I don't care. You're not detaining me. Like, you're not rescuing me. So, I will stand here. >> You're being detained. You're going to sit in the car. >> That's not negotiable. >> I just wanted to go grab the clothes and go to bed. I've been up since 3:00. [Music] Oh, just yesterday overnight. I worked this second shift. I'm just tired. >> Mhm. Sounds like you're at least trying to >> to get some stuff straight. >> I've been looking for a job for 2 years. >> Yeah. >> I've been looking for a place for 2 years, dude. Everything, dude. Like, >> is it just with your record that you're having difficulty? >> Because of the [ __ ] my kids made up about me. Nobody willing even rent me a storage unit. My life sucks. So the I have to talk to you about an incident that happened on street on the 3rd over at your daughter's place. You remember that? >> Yeah. I was whipping a UI trying to leave because I was about to like snap out on her friend and I hit a garbage can. >> Well, I'm going to go help that officer so that we can get out of here and you can get out of here sooner. Okay. >> You're not going to let me go. There's probably weed in the car. I smoke weed. My PO knows I smoke weed. Well, >> everything else that I've ever done, dude. >> Sure. I went through the driver's side, but that's that's it. And the center council be here. >> No, you can hang out over there. >> That's fine. That's all I'm asking. >> Yeah, you Yeah, as long as you just hang out over there, that's cool. >> Okay. Thank you. >> You can go in the store if you want to stay warm, too. >> All right. >> And you went through this up here? >> Yep. I went through that. That was I'm assuming the clothes that she picked up. >> Okay. >> They smell like weed, but there's nothing in it, so I'm all right for her. Then came the real heartbreaker. Through her words and attitude, Michelle unintentionally exposed a deeper truth, one that might explain why her kids want nothing to do with her. Her instability and lack of accountability were on full display. >> From Oaklair County Sheriff's Office doing well. I am in contact with a subject who is on supervision. Yes. Just one possession of THC. Yes. >> Can you please tell them I have to work in the morning and I just got this job. Please. I didn't even know I didn't have a license. Will you please tell them this stuff? I wouldn't have been driving if I didn't know I had a license. >> Um the address is uh she does not have a valid driver's license. >> I didn't know that. >> And then do you have her rules available there by you? >> Yeah, mostly number four. Yeah, that's that's the one that's uh the issue that she just came. >> Don't do that. Go ahead. >> You stupid. >> 10 for my hands are numb. I can't sit at them anymore. I can't do this. All I had was the weight. I'm going to lose my job. Somehow she slipped her cuffs off. So she doesn't have cuffs on right now and she's not doing that. So I want to get her cuffed up quick. Um yeah, she's probably going to be fun. >> I rather just sit here. >> Michelle, get out of the car. >> Make me. While in the back of the patrol car, Michelle somehow managed to slip out of her handcuffs and start shaking the door like she was about to break free. The officer had to pull her out and take control, but she didn't go down easy. Her resistance showed she had zero intention of cooperating. >> You guys areing dumb [ __ ] >> Stop. Stop. Put your hands behind your back. >> Let me go. You might just go to the ground. Wake up. >> Let's back up here. No. Put your hands behind your back. Stop. >> I just want to go to bed. I wanted to go to bed. I wanted to go to bed. >> Stop. >> I'm so tired of being sad. I will break my wrist. I promise you. >> That's not a good idea. What purpose is that going to serve, Michelle? They purpose me blowing my brains out will do too. I promise you I lose my job, dude. I'm going to jump off the first bridge as soon as I walk out of there. There's nothing better to do with your time. >> Huh? There's nothing better to do, huh? You pieces of >> You want to just hand me the seat belt? >> Go yourself. I don't need a seat belt. No. >> Very loud. We're good. I got >> I can't breathe. I can't breathe. >> Want to just go to jail? >> Yeah, I think that's probably going to be the best case scenario. She wants you to have her keys. >> So, I'm going to give those with you. And then this was also on her. I'll just leave that here with you. Okay. Her card is amateur and so it can't be on the road. But just to avoid any more of this right across the street. >> I can't feel my fingers. >> Tell you what, get it back there. I'm not going to look. Okay, sir. >> Give us like 2 minutes till at least we're not around. Okay. >> All right. Thank you. >> I can't feel my two sides. Seriously, they're out. Seriously, I'll be 536. They hurt. Oh my god. I can't feel my Oh my god. It hurts so bad. >> I'll be route to the jail. >> You have my phone. I can't feel my fingers. You have them on two times. I can't do this. Hey, it's Barrett the city. I don't know if Tennold called ahead, but we're in route. will be about 5 minutes all with an uncooperative female. >> Eventually, she was booked and charged with resisting an officer in possession of THC. After a $400 fine and a $1,500 bond, she was released, but not off the hook. 2 months later, the court found her guilty. Her sentence, 10 days in jail and 80 hours of community service.
