what began as a reckless driving report quickly spiraled into an intense confrontation culminating in the arrest of 60-year-old Deborah Bennett Odum and a bizarre altercation in jail I'm Tyler and this is your daily dose of [Music] crime 6101 we'll be pulling into the parking lot of ocean Gardens on Saturday September the 23rd of 2023 the Monroe County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a reckless motorist swerving along us one near mile marker 82 deputies spotted a red Range Rover SUV matching the description and then pulled it over around 3:15 p.m. hello hello sorry for what are you situation escalated dramatically Odum reportedly bid a Corrections Deputy during an intake process and also kicked another deputy according to the arrest report H I don't know the code to get in I charges ultimately Odum refused a breathalyzer test which only complicated the investigation she was charged with DUI and battery on a law enforcement officer her bond was set at $10,000 and records show that she was released from jail the following evening Sheriff Rick Ramsey commented on the incident stating this kind of behavior not only endangers the public but puts our deputies at unnecessary risk we take these actions seriously and will ensure Justice is served odm's actions and behavior could have had far more severe consequences but thankfully no deputies or civilians sustained any life-threatening injuries
