Do you know where the key to the safe is? The key to the safe? We don't have it. Wednesday, November 29th, 2023, Chubbuck, Idaho. Idaho State Police troopers were patrolling Interstate 86 near Chubbuck when they attempted to pull over a Ford Focus with Montana plates for an improper lane change. However, the units were unable to catch up to the vehicle before it exited on the Yellowstone Avenue, so they returned to the Interstate to resume patrol. Less than 5 minutes later, they spotted the same Ford driving through Chubbuck. Once again, officers attempted a traffic stop, and as soon as the driver noticed he was being followed, he quickly changed direction to exit the Interstate. Despite the maneuver, troopers were able to stop the vehicle near exit 73. At that point, all that was left was to figure out why the driver had been trying to evade law enforcement. I'm Tyler, and this is your daily dose of crime. He's not under arrest. He is detained, but probably leave that phone and stuff just right up there. And then leave that out here, too. I I was trying to have a cigarette, but Where we going? Go with him. Put that back on the hood. If you want to pat him back down, you can. You can just unbuckle that. Unbuckle it? Yeah, that way it's out of your way. All right. Okay. I'm going to shut the door. Is it warm enough in here for you, or is it too hot? Uh it's fine. It's good? Okay. I'll be right back, okay? Officers removed the driver from the vehicle and held him in the back of a patrol car while they conducted a full inspection of the vehicle. The driver, identified as Jose Ignacio Silva, appeared calm and unconcerned about the officers looking in his vehicle, but something felt off, and police sensed that there was more going on than Silva was letting on. I got the heat going, but let me know if it gets too stinking hot in there. With all this extra gear on, I get cold, so I run the AC. Yeah, it gets it gets uh pretty cold out here, so I I see. It's fine right now, though. Okay. Just let me know. Yeah, it's miscommunication though, cuz it sounded like their dispatch contacted Pocatello, I contacted the sergeant on the scene. And he's like, "Yeah, I want you to take it." But then then And I was like, "All right." So, I got Pocatello channels are like, "Hey, just let me know you you take it or I take it. Just one or the other." You were already on scene. No, they were. I was heading towards it. And so were they. And they're like, "We'll just take it." And I'm like, "Okay. I'll disregard then. We don't need three different agencies looking at one fleet crash. It is what it is. Is it? Okay. Yeah, just let me know, man. I mean Like I said, I standing out, I get cold. In the car, I get hot, so it goes up and down. I don't mind changing the temp. Hey, do you know where the key to the safe is? Huh? The key to the safe. We don't have a key. Yeah, he's telling me he doesn't have a key. You guys are sure you don't have a key? I'm pretty like positive we lost the key uh like literally like 3 weeks ago. Okay. But Do you think she might know where maybe where it's at or You can ask her. Yeah, cuz if not, he's going to end up breaking the lock open. Depending on what he's got, I'm I'm just here helping him. No, no, I I didn't So, I I don't know what all he's got, but if it saves you guys a safe, I'd rather do that. You know what I mean? While inside the patrol car, one of the officers asked the suspect about a key. He replied that he had lost it about 3 weeks ago. It appeared that they were referring to a key for a safe that had been discovered under one of the car seats during the search. Officers knew they would need to continue the investigation and find a way to open the safe while in the meantime they began collecting additional evidence since drug paraphernalia had already been found. Got him in custody. Turn and face the car for me, okay? Turn around on your back. You're under arrest for possession of crack cocaine. Charles 24, 652 has got two in custody. Okay, so is it okay to get a number on his phone? Yeah, I'll get it before we leave here. Okay. Um, may I have a cigarette before I leave? I've been I've been cool, man. I'm not I'm not going to run or anything, obviously. As long as he's okay with it, um, the deal is though is you got to be out of the car for that. Yeah, that's fine. I mean, I'll I'll still stand with the cuffs. Okay. All right. Um, let me go grab it for you, okay? What you need, bud? Got one of his cigarettes. Huh? I'll let him smoke if you're all right with it. Okay. Yeah. Does he got a lighter in here, too? I don't know what that's for. That's what I thought about it. What did I do to my foot? Had to break out this one. He's been chill, so I'll let him smoke. All right, buddy. Now, I don't smoke, so I'm a rookie at this, right? Right. Here you go. Thank you. And then I'll go give this back up there so it stays in the car. I can't smoke in the car, so. You You can close it so it doesn't go in the car. But, uh I don't mind. You've been chill. So, you won your money in Jackpot, right? Okay. Little bit of half. Yeah. Yeah, I lost a lot more. Which one did you have? Which casino? Uh Jackpot Pizza. Jackpot Pizza? Okay. So, I know the sergeant that runs that over there. Uh Jackpot It's a drug spot. Oh, okay. I don't know what all I got. Same to me, but maybe it could be Oh, I don't know. That looks like I'm Sergeant Cruz with Nevada Highway Patrol works up in uh Jackpot area. When we do our family gatherings kind of thing down in Jackpot, that's another one of the places they all stop and do the this stuff out, so. Yeah. So, I guess this Well, I don't know what that It takes a minute, though. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, we're going to put you in the back of this car. Okay, with the other gentleman. Okay. The search turned up 6.7 g of marijuana, various related items, a 9-mm handgun, and a .380 pistol. But, it was the contents of the safe that truly escalated the situation. Inside were 426 fentanyl pills, a bag containing 42.8 g of cocaine, another bag with 38 g of heroin, and a digital scale. Silva was immediately placed under arrest along with his girlfriend who had been riding in the passenger seat. Okay, I am going to search you. Is there anything on you? No. And there's nothing underneath your breasts or in you, right? Okay, when I search you, when I get towards your sensitive areas, I'm going to use the back of my hand. Do you understand that? Okay. There's nothing up under here, right? What's going to happen? What's that? What's going to happen? Well, as soon as we get done with this, I'm going to transport you guys to the jail. I'm going to put this back on your head, okay? Mhm. Maybe. Sorry, Kira. Trying to keep your ears warm. I really can't breathe right now. Okay, turn around for me. Face the camera. Nothing in your shoes, right? No. No, go ahead. Keep your foot down. Okay, but you can take them off. No. They'll take them off at the jail. And so, like I said, if there's anything anything at all that I miss you need to let me know cuz it's going to be another felony charge. Okay. Nothing in your waistband, right? No. Okay. This is what I was talking about, the back of my hand. Okay, I don't I know it's uncomfortable and I apologize for this but my life and other people's lives are at risk and I don't I don't toy with that. Okay. Turn around, sit. I got the top of your head, okay? Whoop, easy. Okay. I need to make a call as soon as possible. Okay. And you needed a phone number, right? Yeah. Okay. Okay. Uh Did you already tell them who it was? No. I need a few numbers, if that's okay. Okay. Watch your knee. Through his girlfriend, Kiralynn Uribe, was searched by one of the officers and was visibly upset expressing that she didn't want to go to jail. Despite all of her distress, she cooperated with police and claimed the safe belonged to a friend who had borrowed the car recently, but officers just weren't buying the story. In the end, she complied and was placed in a separate police vehicle for transport to jail. But something about Silva's reaction in everything stood out, his lack of total emotion. You got his phone number? You wanted to send phone numbers? Yeah, but there was a There was a half ounce of MDMA and a gun sitting in the safe. Popped it open cuz she said maybe there was like a couple pounds. So he just wanted to pop it open. I'm like, "Are you serious?" Yeah. I don't know how to open that thing. I don't know. I'll take it to him. He can walk me through it or don't. I'm sorry, buddy. Okay. I brought this to you. I We don't know how to You walk me You have to walk me through it. All right. All right.
