There's a kid in here asleep. >> Hello. Nobody's home. Just the kids. I don't know where she is. And they're all little babies. >> Some moms truly believe they're doing their best. But sometimes that best is the most dangerous thing of all. >> How long are you gone? Maybe started. This crazy started getting >> You're going to witness moments where love gets twisted into neglect, manipulation, and real harm. >> My mom is not home. >> She's not home. What about your dad? Do you know who your dad is? >> My dad. >> And then Justice steps in to deliver a simple reminder. Being a mother doesn't put you above accountability. On October 29th, 2024 in Texas. Police were called after a neighbor spotted a house standing wide open in the middle of the night. Inside, three children were fast asleep, unaware that the one person responsible for protecting them was gone. >> When was the last time you seen her? seen her when she was in the office >> yesterday. >> Yesterday? >> Yeah. >> Where's her car at? This one? >> Yeah. I thought she might have hung a ghost up there or something. A sheep or something for Halloween. And as I was pulling off, I seen the kitchen light on. >> Okay. >> Is the door wide open right now? >> No. >> Or did you close it? >> I closed it, but I rang the doorbell. I went around and beat on her. She >> got camera. Came. >> Hello. She got dogs. >> She got one little old Shihuawa. There's a child in here. She a baby. There's three of them. >> There a little girl. >> A little baby boy. >> Okay. Yeah. Where? She ain't there. >> I don't see her in the bedroom. >> She should have answered her phone though. >> Y'all got her phone number? >> Yeah. >> And then I heard I don't know. I could be tripping. >> But I was cing food. I heard like a popping noise. But see, I didn't tell him that. I'm thinking he heard it, but he didn't. Ow. >> There's a kid in here asleep. Hello. Nobody's home. Just the kids. I don't know where she is and they're all little babies. Her car's here, but she's not here. And I tried calling her cell phone. The three kids are there sleeping, >> but Lindsay's missing. >> Lindsay's gone. >> They got home at like 9:00. >> Where's her dad's house at? >> Right there. >> How you doing, sir? Are you Lindsay's father? her father. >> You're her father. Okay. Do you know where she's at right now? >> No, she's not at home. >> No, sir. She's not at home. Uh her door was wide open and >> really >> Yeah. We're trying to find her. Her kids are in the house and >> the kids are in there, but she's not there. >> But she's not there. >> Let's check my computer right quick. >> Say it again. >> See if I got an email. And the boys don't know where she is. >> Uh I didn't I didn't wake them up. >> I don't see any phone. Okay. All right. I'm trying to get a hold of her still. I'll probably go and wake up our son at Houston. >> No. >> Do you know where your mother's at? >> No. What? >> Okay. Cuz y'all's door was left wide open. And that's the reason that I'm here. I'm trying to find her. Okay. Do you know where she could possibly be? >> That open door wasn't a sign of a break-in. It was the fallout of neglect. The mother left and she left both her kids and the house completely exposed. This didn't look like a kidnapping situation. It looked more like a quick escape to blow off steam. What's hard to wrap your head around is that just 15 minutes later, she showed up again. >> Imagine where she's at. You should be a 12year-old boy in >> Yeah. Houston's in there. He He was awake. >> About 8 years old. >> Little girl's asleep. >> And a baby. >> And a baby. >> Can I help y'all? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. She just showed up. >> Yeah. I've been here. Why are you over here? >> Somebody found your door wide open. >> Because it doesn't latch. Okay. >> It's broken. I can show it to you. It won't. >> All right. Well, we're just here because your door is wide open and kids were left unattended. >> Not for long. So, >> I've been right here on property. >> Okay. So, I appreciate you. >> Oh, yeah. So, she just showed up. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Door doesn't latch. So, there's a lot of nights that I get up. I go do school work in the office. I'm in college right now full time. Get up. Go for a walk here on >> where were you >> around there? >> Yeah. >> Around where? >> Several tenants that are friends here talking. >> So you were back there walking. Were you with a tenant? >> Was a tenant. >> And who was that? >> Kayen. >> He was the number two. Wasn't there very long since I got done with school work. So my door hadn't have been open very long. >> What time did you leave? >> Yeah. Y'all been calling me for 15 minutes. How long were you gone? >> Maybe 30 max. Soon as I got done doing school work, I'm trying to get all my stuff done so I can graduate. >> Well, the first time I called you was at 2011 >> cuz the first time he called me was 2:1. >> That's what I was saying. >> And what how long were you gone before then? >> So I was in the office earlier. I've probably been gone maybe an hour if that. But I've been on property like I have checked on my kids, things like that. I do school work a lot of nights. What time did you find the apartment empty? >> I come out about 1:30. >> 1:30. In the time that you were here, nobody ever She never showed up. She never called nothing. Okay. >> Do you know anything about her being messed up? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> She told me about it the other day. She been locking it. We've been the building shifted. I've fixed it before and it's popped open before. So, I just got to readjust it. >> Okay. Just got to readjust the plate that >> You don't hear fear for her kids. You hear a story about the door. She shifts the focus from her own choices to a technical problem like that's supposed to make it feel okay. Her explanation for what she was doing at 2:00 a.m. doesn't add up. And the turning point comes when her boyfriend's statement gets questioned and compared against hers. >> Was Lindsay over here? >> Was she over here? >> Yeah. >> No. >> She says that she was. >> Oh, recently. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> Yeah. Door was open at her apartment and we couldn't find her. So, we were just trying to locate her and we called her multiple times and she says that she was over here hanging out with you. >> Yeah. >> What time did she come over? >> Uh, >> was this like message like did y'all message, hey, come over or anything like that? >> No, no, no. We talked earlier about uh on the phone about hanging out or whatever, but not no message or nothing like that. >> Okay. So, y'all talked on the phone. What time was that? Do you know? >> Uh, that was >> Can you find out for me? What's your first and last name? >> I'm talking with you, so I need to document it. Okay. K A L E N E N S K I N E R >> What is going to happen? What are What are y'all trying to do? >> Well, we got to talk to everybody involved. >> Regardless of what happens, we can't just turn our shoulder and say, "Okay, we're gone." You know, >> you need to turn your shoulder. I'm just several of y'all know me. Y'all know what type of mom I am. Y'all have seen that from the situation with Carrie. And I'm not a bad person. I'm just super stressed right now. I have a lot going on. She needs somebody to talk to first. >> Call her. She call you. I didn't. Well, I I could That's what I was just trying to find. I couldn't find either one. I just went on my messenger. >> Did she call you like on your phone? She call you on like Facebook Messenger or >> Well, it was through it was through Messenger, but it wasn't a call. It was through text. But it was last time we text was around 10:53. That's when she was uh I think she was getting her kids situated or whatever with a little boy or whatever. >> So, she's going to put their kids asleep and then come over. >> Uh I think so. >> Okay. >> Is she in trouble or something? >> She could be. She didn't come over there until 2:30 and it's quite a while. You know what? If the kids woke up. >> Yeah, I understand. >> So, >> she has cameras in her house. >> Yeah. >> But sometimes cameras can malfunction. So, >> all right, Miss Carter, go ahead and take your hands out of your pockets, please. You are being placed under arrest. Okay. >> A banning endangering your kids. Okay. >> Okay. But the thing is, you left. You've been gone for over after we've talked to everybody. It's It's going to be >> about an hour. >> It's been longer than an hour. Regardless if it's that you still left, there's a small child in there. Okay. >> In Lindsay's world, struggling means she's earned the right to mess up without consequences. But reality doesn't run on feelings. The timeline shows she left around midnight and was gone for over 2 and 1/2 hours, which is nothing like the I was only gone for a minute story she tried to sell. >> So, a teenager in there. >> How old is the teen? >> Houston is 12, almost 13. >> I thought it was only a 9-year-old in there. >> No, no, no, no. There is a almost 13year-old in there. No, my my boy. >> How old is How old is the little girl? >> She's nine. >> That's so the only nineyear-old in there. >> Oh, no. >> There's a nine to 14month-old >> and a 12 almost 13. >> But you've been gone for over 2 hours, right? >> No, it has not been 2 hours. >> What time did you go over there? >> What time is it now? >> Almost 3:00. >> It was maybe 1:00. I don't think it was any earlier than that. And I was over here at 2:35. I'm pretty sure it was 1. I'm not 100% positive. I'm not trying to lie to anybody. But there is a 12-year-old and I'm right here. I never left the property. I was super stressed. I don't ever do this ever, >> man. He's only 12 though. >> I know. He'll be 13 here in just a couple months. >> What's a couple months? >> March 2nd. Very, very beginning of March. And he's very, very responsive. Okay. And for how long am I in jail? Like I've never >> uh Once you go, let's say you are arrested, right? and you're booked into Cherokee County. Then you talk with the judge in the morning and then from there on I I don't know where's the kid's dad's at or dad at. Sorry. >> Carrie is the one with the baby's dad. >> Is that the one that was here >> the last time I was here? >> Where's he at? >> In Quitman. You're going to send him with his dad? >> No, I'm just asking. Okay. >> Because you've been gone for a long time. Okay. So, you can't leave a 12-year-old in charge of a little minor and all that. Okay. It it is endangering child. Okay. >> They're not endangered. They're asleep and I'm here. I'm on site. I didn't leave. >> Okay. It's It's still endangering. Okay. It's not with intent to abandon them. Never never return nothing like that. Okay. But the thing is you've been gone for almost 2 and 1/2 hours. Okay. >> It's less than two. >> Okay. You've been gone for quite a while. Okay. So, it is going to be you are going to be placed under arrest for that. I even called my supervisor just to verify with him, make sure that I'm not missing something. But he said no. So that's what you're going to go to jail today for. Okay. We are going to have to call CPS. If they're okay with it, no problem. Which they're probably going to be fine. We're going to leave him with in charge. >> Okay. You understand that part? >> Yeah. But they're not going to leave my kids with my dad. >> Okay. Elderly and sick. >> Okay. Well, we'll go from there. >> She tries to blur the line between a teenager and an adult to make the neglect sound less serious. And what she worries about isn't her children's emotional trauma. It's her elderly sick father having to carry the burden. Again, she pushes the blame onto circumstances instead of owning her decision. >> I'm going to take your phone. Okay. Do you want it? >> You We can take it with you. Okay. But I'm just saying I didn't want you to use it. Okay. I don't understand. >> You can't You can't The thing is you weren't You were in someone else's apartment. You've been gone for almost two and a half hours. Doors open. Doors are wide open regardless if the door was wide open or not. Somebody was come up here and they find out you weren't here. You You're still gone. >> Okay. So, just go ahead and stand right here. >> What's the point in calling CPS if you can just call somebody else to take it? >> They have to be notified. >> She is going to go to jail. Okay. I mean, law I mean we we can't just turn our heads on this. She's been gone since 12. >> You okay? How old are you? >> 12. Almost 13. Uh she said she's on her way. She wants me to get a little bit of stuff ready so we don't have to sit here for a whole another hour, right? >> And then >> she's gonna pick me up. >> What's your first name? >> Bill. >> You know this gentleman? >> Your friend of yours? >> All right. Let me call CPS real quick. So you'll be okay with staying with him till they Mother gets here. Okay. Let me just in case the officer needs something. Did you know your mom was gone? >> No. >> No. >> What time did you go to bed? >> Maybe 10:00 cuz I got here late because I have scouts. >> Okay. As soon as mom gets here or grandma gets here, will you give me a call? >> Yeah, >> we're here for paperwork reasons and then once I finish the paperwork here, uh you'll be taken to Cherokee County and booked in. Okay. Just take a seat right here. >> Your mom is on the way for her husband. He was in Lakeport, but he's headed back. He's going to pick her up and come with child seat and everything. Okay. >> Is there any way I can use the restroom? I mean, I've been holding it for >> saying you are, but don't do anything that's going to make this worse. Okay? >> No. >> It's just you got to understand what it's bad enough. >> Yes. >> I've never I've never been in trouble ever in my life. Like, this is >> understand. Let me see your key. That way, she'd be able to use restroom. >> In the end, she's facing a charge of endangering a dependent with intent. Even without a prior record, leaving an infant in an unlocked house in the middle of the night is the kind of detail you just can't explain away. Her children were placed with relatives under child protective services oversight. What do you think about this case? Can life pressure ever be an excuse for that kind of carelessness? Drop your thoughts in the comments below. And when one mother leaves an empty house behind her, another story reveals a different kind of dangerous mistake. On August 15th, 2024, police were called out after a fight broke out at a bus station. A mother stepped in to protect her daughter, but the moment a teenager was involved, that protection crossed a legal line. What happened next changed everything. >> Are you guys arresting my mom or something? >> No, she was just involved. >> I have to talk to both of you. >> It's kind of important. You can't do it over the phone. >> Well, letting you know like my mom was defending herself. She was not hitting her. >> We still need to talk. We >> Okay. I just like I just not I'm trying to have my mom arrested. >> I got you. cuz this at all was not her fault. Like this crazy started hitting me and my mom was trying to get her off me and then she starts hitting her and my mom is like trying to get her off of her like off of her and like she's pulling her hair and my mom didn't hit her. All she was doing was trying to get her off of her like and she was like backing her away like yo home like get away and then she this girl hits her in the face with a metal water bottle. I could show you guys pictures of my mom's face if you need that. This is what her face looks like from the water bottle. And I don't know if that girl can get in trouble since she's younger, but this is what her face looked like. >> So, obviously you know me. I'm deputy. >> Yeah, I tried calling you. >> I want to talk to you about Thursday's incident. >> Okay. >> And before I do so, this doesn't mean that you're in any trouble. I'm going to read you your Okay. So give me a brief explanation out of your point of view of what occurred on Thursday afternoon. >> Like tell you from A to B pretty much the whole thing. >> Okay. So I'm out shopping. I get a text. My daughter didn't have her phone cuz it got taken away. >> She texted me on someone's phone on the bus saying trying to fight me. Can you meet me at the bus stop? And in my mind I'm like okay. So, I'm rushing to get back there just thinking in my in my mind I'm thinking you're going to see an adult there. Nothing's going to happen. >> There's no victory lap in this one. Instead, the mother and daughter stand shoulderto-shoulder, both insisting they did nothing wrong. The mom says she rushed over after a desperate text, thinking an adult showing up would cool things down, but the tension only kept climbing. >> What did you hear? Like, did you hear any words exchanged between them or anything like that or >> I heard uh >> cuz they seem to be like actively verbally yelling at each other. yelling at each other. It's all kind of like a I'm still kind of like overwhelmed with all this, but um uh it was something like someone do you want to run with it or do you want to run I don't know whatever the term was meaning like fight do you want to run with it and uh I told to stop like we're not doing this and then her sister got in my face um told me not to call her but the way she was talking to my daughter was just get out. It's what I said and I told her to just leave. I said that we're not doing this and then they just started both going at it. >> Okay. >> So, I was trying to protect my kid and if I wasn't there, I had two sisters against her, but I wasn't planning on doing any of that. >> Okay? >> I just want to make that very clear. Like, I feel like I do. I feel terrible. I've never had any of this crap happening to me. >> Okay? So, um, >> at what point did you did you get physical with any of them? And at what point did you when did you? >> Probably when I took her down to the ground. >> Okay. >> And I told her to let go of me cuz she had my hair. >> Okay. And can you explain to me if you made any like physical contact, like a push, grab? >> I grabbed her. Okay. >> To get her off my kid. I didn't want to. I really like I really feel like like I feel absolutely like and it's really embarrassing on my part. Um I get it on the adult, but I'm trying to make sure my kid was okay. >> Okay. >> Um I'm like stressed. >> Yeah, >> I am stressed. Um >> uh >> I mean we're here to talk with you so you can >> Oh, I'm like I was freaking out the whole weekend. >> Yeah. >> I couldn't focus. I don't I don't even know what I should say right now. >> She admits she took the teen down after getting her hair pulled. And at that point, it's not just a mom defending her kid. It's a grown adult putting hands on a minor. Still, I know plenty of moms watching would say, "If somebody touches my child, I'm stepping in, too." >> Right now, you're detained about the incident on Thursday. >> So, call them. >> Um, not not so far. We can we can arrange that. Um, but I just want to know more about that. And like like you said, if you feel like you're not comfortable with talking to us right now, you like like in the warning said, you can stop talking to us at any point. >> I just want this done and over with. >> Okay. Okay. Um, throughout the altercation, does that mean you do not want to talk to us any further? You just saying you want I don't think I >> All right. Uh, throughout the, you know, altercation, did at any point are you trying to pull away from and exit. >> I didn't, in my mind, I felt like, okay, it's done and over with. Let's go. And then you see her grabbing it and she hits me right directly in my jaw. And I didn't do anything after that. >> 100%. >> By the way, >> what what did they say in the hospital? >> Um, just a lot of bruising. I I was just doing it because I was scared cuz I couldn't open my mouth. I couldn't even brush my teeth, right? >> And I didn't want any blood clots. I didn't want any of that. Um I don't even have insurance. So now I'm in $3,000 deep now. But um I don't know. I'm just uh >> So they said bruising. Did they say anything was broken like jaw or >> No what to do right now? I'm just extremely >> overwhelmed. >> All right. Um did they diagnose you with a concussion or anything like that? And they gave you all the, you know, >> keep like if I felt like the symptoms or any of that. I have the paperwork. >> Like I was calling you as well to press charges, but then I I don't know if I want to. I I want this to just be like I don't know. >> You've been very forthcoming with us, so we're going to be the same. You've been you've been great with us. I just really really like I really don't want like anything to happen to me cuz I have I mean the school already telling me I can't [snorts] I might not be able to drive my daughter to school and stuff. That's a little >> But let's be real, violence is never the right lesson for a bully. When her child was attacked, the mother let emotion outrun judgment and in a split second the whole situation flipped. The price tag on motherly instinct isn't cheap. Especially when visible injuries don't erase the fact that a law was broken. >> We'll arrange for you to call work. Okay. Grab your phone and everything. Where? Oh, is that your phone right there? >> Do you have your ID on you? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> You are you are going to go to jail today. Uh but not that this may or may not make you feel better. So is she. Um, don't text or anything to anybody that yet because we want to get her at school and not have her leave because she might tell somebody. So, just don't tell your daughter anything. >> I just picked up a shift. I got a call. >> We'll work with you. >> I literally just picked up her shift. >> Um, >> we'll let me just try to give you our side so maybe it'll answer for you. >> Okay. They're going to go to jail. You're going to be charged with some form of child abuse, which is essentially the same as a fight, but because she's a minor, they call it child abuse. >> So, am I going to be in jail for a while? >> I would say you'll probably be there until first appearance tomorrow morning and they'll give you a bond and then if you can make the bond, then you can you can go from there. The bond center, if you have family, they >> How much is the bond? >> That is set by the judge in the morning. They look at it as a whole with the severity of the crime and all the circumstances around it. Um, do you have somebody at home that can watch your daughter? Are you here by yourself? >> Well, I got my boyfriend, but he'll be at work. >> You have another family member for some >> I don't have anyone. >> I'm just recalling from the last >> scenario. Do you trust her alone? >> I don't know. I called the school just before to >> that mean like do you trust her to stay here and go to school and take care of herself? >> Well, I got my boyfriend here to be >> okay. I just want to make sure that you were comfortable with that if that ends up being there might be a scenario where you get a bond right away. >> In Florida, the legal boundary is pretty clear. An adult using force against a minor doesn't get labeled as protection. The mom may not have been looking for a fight. She believes she was shielding her daughter. But what she calls protection, the law calls child abuse. And the girls who started the bullying don't get a free pass either. They helped light the match. >> I don't know what else to do. >> Well, um, >> do you want us to let her know? >> I know she's going to be heartbroken. >> I mean, I just I would almost rather tell her while she's in school with the school resource deputy and she can take as much time as she needs before she goes back to class. >> Yeah. I just felt like nauseous right now. >> I get it. >> Um >> um look, I know I'm kind of repeating what you said. It's embarrassing. You are the you are the adult. I have kids, but I've also never seen my kid actively in a fight. So, I I I would like to think that I would grab my kid and throw him in the car and leave and not the other kid. Um but I also was not there at the same time that you were. So, you're going to have to you know what I mean? You you're going to have to explain that part on your own. Um, but I am very attached to my kids and I I who knows what would happen. >> I mean, >> I'm very I'm very close with my kid and I thought I was just doing the right thing and protecting her. Gotcha. >> Um, we also have to look at um the fact that this is [music] pretty much a school function >> and um I think the kids got suspended on Friday for this, right? So, we're looking at it also as a zero tolerance thing because this is the first week of school, now the second, and [snorts] we've already had a fight 4 days in. We're going to hopefully set a precedent that other kids can see and not go this route. Um, it's just it's just going to be a zero tolerance thing, especially especially with adults involved and especially at any type of school function. So, um, but they are she's going to answer for what she did to you as well. We're we're going to go there after this. >> Here's the thing. You're you're under the bus. >> I know. >> Um, >> we're being nice and letting you, >> but we we're also responsible for what happens once we let you go in there. >> I'm not going to do anything crazy. >> In the end, the woman was arrested and faced a child abuse charge. Even if she truly believes she did the right thing, the law is colder than that. Adults are expected to control themselves and handle conflict without violence. What do you think? Was she protecting her child or was this a Karen moment where she lost control? One mother didn't realize she broke the law. Another one thought she had the right to scream just because she was told no. On May 14th, 2025, police were dispatched to an airport parking lot after reports of a family altercation. What started as delayed luggage quickly spiraled out of control when the mother was accused of assaulting her adult son to prevent the younger children from leaving. >> Down there. >> Is this it or is it down there? >> What happened? >> Talk. Let her talk. Calm down. >> Calm down. >> Step out. Please step out. Watch me. >> Calm down. >> That way you can not be inter. You can just watch. >> My children. >> Go ahead. Check on the kids. >> My children are in the car. I don't want them going with them. >> You don't want them going with them? No. >> Who are these people? >> Um, the children stand over here so you don't get hurt. >> It's the children father. >> Okay. >> We're supposed to be going on a trip. >> On a trip. >> Where you headed? >> I don't know. I'm not bad. >> You're not You're not together anymore. >> No. >> Okay. >> All right, Jasper. Let me see. >> Let me see your arm. >> See what? I don't know how nothing. >> That's okay. I'm just seeing. >> Why are you gripping your arm like that? Are you in pain? >> No, cuz people's pinching me. I got a boo boo. But it don't hurt. >> You got a boo boo. Where'd you get the boo boo from? >> Oh, they were pinching him and grabbing you and pulling him. >> Okay. Pinching him, grabbing you, and pulling you. Let me see. >> All right. So, what what happened? Words were exchanged like I said. Between who? >> Me and me and her. She got very angry when I said. Yeah. She started grabbing my hair. >> She has a history of putting her hands on me. Okay. >> But she just grabbed my hair. She wouldn't let me go. Everybody came around. Once start people started coming, she took her hands off me. But then she tried to leave with my siblings. >> Okay. >> Uh when she is, you know what I'm saying? When she has very high energy and high emotions, she wants to, you know, get as much control of the situation as possible. So usually she does that by gathering around. >> So let's back this up a little bit. So altercation where is rest. Why? What happened before that? Back up. >> I don't know. Tensions has been high the whole time we came here on the trip. You know how people be on trips. >> Okay. So are y'all coming in or going out? >> We're leaving here. We just got here. We're leaving. >> We just flew in from where? >> Yeah. Uh Rhode Island. >> In sharp contrast to the mother's calculated panic. The eldest son described a long history of domestic violence. For someone with a deep need for control, moments of crisis don't trigger empathy. They triggered domination. From there, the inconsistencies in the mother's statements began to expose the real core of the conflict. >> Mother gets to go with him. Okay. You were supposed to be going where? My children. He said to me that they're going to surprise their mother. So, he want my children to come with me. I said, I cannot let my children come with you um without me being there. >> Right. >> So, I came with him on the trip. >> Okay. >> While I came with them on the trip, the boss just started giving me. sort of attitude. >> Who is >> the Oh, my oldest son. >> Okay. Your oldest son's giving you attitude. >> Yeah. And my oldest son and I have had altercation before and he jump on me. So when the place was going boring and the way he is, I didn't want him to jump on me. >> Uh-huh. >> So >> is his dad here too or just your >> dad right there? >> Okay. Driving. >> Yeah. His dad always take his side. >> Okay. In the front right seat. In the passenger seat. In the front front passenger seat. Who's that? >> The front passenger seat. >> Was that your oldest? >> Yes. He didn't want >> And then and then their dad is drunk. >> Yes, their father is drunk. >> Is that your ex-boyfriend or husband? >> Yeah. >> But it's But is he the children's father? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, the little one too. >> Yeah. >> Who's in the argument? You and your oldest? >> Yeah. If me and the oldest were not in no argument, but he get mad and irritated with me. And when he get mad and irritated with me, he starts to be combative. But [ __ ] he was in the front and I was in the back. >> Mhm. >> Today I was in the back. He did it before and he he um like what physically towards me but he wasn't he were in the front. So this time around he couldn't do anything. So when I noticed that he hit me, you know what I did? The first thing I did was to screen him. So he don't come to me and do that. So oh we both going to get in trouble because did anyone did anyone hurt the little kids? >> No. No. The little children the little children >> they were in the car. >> They were in the car. >> Anybody them? >> No. Nobody them. So, so because of that I hold him down but I said I don't want to go so we don't get into big >> and we don't get into problem because I had to hold him so he don't come towards ME SO I WAS YELLING FOR ALL THE PEOPLE TO COME AND HELP me and I held him he was sitting in the city thank God he was not in back of me the last time he brought all my my last so I was >> the woman believed force was a way to keep order and make everyone calm down instead of stepping back she allowed her children to witness chaos in the middle of an report as long as she didn't lose control of the car or the kids. The situation only shifted once the father was separated and independent statements were taken. >> Get you away from me so I can talk to you. Figure out everything going on. So I got his side of it. They're getting her side. Okay. So what happened today? >> So it was a little family argument I guess on going. The mom was like uh telling him to shut up. He's telling the mom to shut up. >> Okay. So verbal going back. >> Verbal comment back and then she's like, "You know what? Nobody's coming for the trip." So, she's pulling the um >> she's pulling the stairs >> and then she's trying to pull him to get out of the car and I'm telling her to stop. So, then everybody's pulling. I'm telling stop. She said, "No, they're not going. They're not going." And I said, "Just take a Uber to the house." Okay. >> Cuz uh she could just took a Uber and then we would have went, you know. >> So, where does it all come from? Trying to try to get an understanding of everything. He said that um I guess she's normally she's done this before in a sense. >> Yes, she normally she did >> aggressive um whole reason. She's Has she been drinking? >> No. No. >> It's just her as a personality. >> Her as a personality. Yeah. Fine. She has a bag that's supposed to come at 8:00. So he said, "No, mom. Uh uh we can't. We have to go." So then she No, no, no. I need my bag. I need my bag. So that's kind of like where it stems from. >> He She's trying to stay for her bag. He's trying to go for the surprise. >> Trying to go >> for the surprise. Okay. >> That's like the main thing. And then her thing is like if I'm not going my They're not going. So she's trying to use that. Okay. All right. You can talk. Thank you. >> So, so if you take those little kids out of the car, what's the plan? What are you going to do? >> Oh, the plan is I'm going to go away for my suitcase, my luggage, and I will call my mother, and my mother will help me. >> Go back home. >> No, my mother will talk to me >> and do what? What will you end up doing with you and the kids? >> Um, I will probably see if my mother can talk to me and tell me to go there with with him or come down. Will you Uber or or will you rent a car or will you >> No, but I Oh, for now she wasting a lot of time. I can just go with them. If you go with them, you guys are going to get in a >> No, no. I'm I'm not going to go with them. >> Like both. >> This wasn't a spur-of-the- moment reaction. It was a pattern, behavior that had hardened over time. Her deliberate delay over a piece of luggage showed how [music] personal priority outweighed collective need. She used the police not for help, but as a tool of control, hoping to force her husband and children to comply. >> Okay. >> So, I told your dad the same the same stuff heard. This is where I need you to be cool, right? >> Yeah. >> You're not in trouble. >> Mhm. >> Did you get his ID and stuff? I haven't. >> Okay. >> They got all the information. Okay. What your dad's doing right now is driving your brother and sister away from the scene, right? Your mom's going to go to jail. >> Oh, be cool. >> Okay. I want to do this in front of the kids. >> Okay. >> What I need from you, bro, I need you to come back with us. You're not in trouble. I need you to do a statement of what happened. >> If I don't want to do it, >> you can do a verbal statement. >> Well, it's better for court if you spoke with dad. I spoke with the son. You're the last person I need to talk to. >> All right. >> Now, I just need to read you this. This does not mean you're in trouble. Okay. >> Or >> I'm just going to read you this. >> So, I talked to the son. I talked to the father. >> Uhhuh. >> Now, I got to talk to you. >> So, what happened? All right. So, we Oh, God. So, we um we came to the trip to Florida here. So, we came now on the trip. My oldest son, he was he was trying to be in attitude to me. So, I I told him I was leaving. So, I left and my mother talked to me. We all talk to me and everybody calm down everything. So, in the car, he he did like this for me. So, he was coming to me. So, you know what I did? He hair. He hair. That's That's why you see I have nails. So I told him, I said, "Shan, stay. Stay there. Stay there." He kept like like that's how scratch it. I got the nails here. I said, "San, stay. Hold up. Hold on. Let me get help. >> Can I take a picture of your nails? Go like this for me." >> Yeah. That's how he got the with your nails. >> Yeah, I have nails. Right. >> Which one is it? >> I I don't know which. This and the nails. So I said to him, "Could you see this?" >> Yeah. >> Go like that. >> Yeah. So I said to him, "San, stop." >> Here. Keep them still. >> Sorry. So I said, "Shan, stop." You know? >> All right. Flip them real quick. >> Yeah. So I get the nails right here. You see? So I said, "Keep them still. Keep them still." >> In a moment of desperation, she pointed to her long acrylic nails as evidence, claiming she only grabbed her son to keep things from escalating. Ironically, admitting she scratched him with her nails became a clear confession of assault. >> Okay, so listen. >> Yeah. >> What I need you to do is I need you to turn around real quick and just be cool. Your hands behind your back. We appreciate you being cool. >> Okay. >> Can I get my thing, please? We'll >> take it. >> Okay. >> Yeah, we'll get everything for you. >> All right. Let's find you a place to sit. >> I can't swaddle. >> You don't need to swing. >> Okay. We'll have you have your We're going to have you sit down. >> Face me and we'll have paramedics check you. Sit down and face me. You can keep your You can keep your legs out. Kick off your shoes. >> Oh, it's too hot. Yeah. I will >> No, they're going to put on the air. Can someone put on the air? kick off your shoes. >> Okay. >> Go ahead and take it off. >> And then just open that uh partition and throw the air up on high. >> Oh, I'm I can't breathe. >> Okay. They're calling paramedics for you. >> Did you have a physical pass? >> Did you Did you have a boarding pass? >> Um my boarding pass it in my bag. >> In your bag? Is it a piece of paper or on your phone? >> It's It was a paper piece of paper, but I used it up. >> Okay. All right. Um, >> we're going to check though, >> but uh certainly um the blood pressure went up quite a bit when the handcuffs went on. So, >> okay. Do you have any medical problems? >> Or at least it seemed to. >> What kind of medical problems? >> Her 12 lead. Her heart rate's a little bit high. That could just be anxiety. Her 12 lead didn't show a heart. She said she doesn't want to go to the hospital. So, that's that's up to you guys. You guys want to let her go? No. No. She said she doesn't want to. >> No, she says she wants to go. >> Okay. Yeah. So, >> okay. So, someone's going to That's up to your supervisor. What I meant. >> After being taken to the hospital, the mother was transported to jail and face charges of domestic battery, resisting an officer, and disorderly conduct. If convicted, she could face up to $3,000 in fines and as much as 12 months of probation. The heaviest punishment isn't just the loss of freedom. It's the fracture of the most sacred bond she had, her family. And as ego erupts in the noise of an airport, the story shifts toward the cold silence of a child left behind. On February 24th, 2024, police were called after spotting a toddler driving a toy electric car along the busy lanes of US Highway 41. Cars were flying past, but the truth behind the mother's locked door was what truly stopped everyone cold. >> Hello. here. Okay. >> We came along and he was driving up here going this way. >> Going that way. >> Yeah. And he was on this road of the road here. >> Hey buddy, >> we're trying to get some info. So, this is where we gather. Let's see if we get His name >> Okay. >> He says his mom's name is >> and the grandma is Shannon. But >> we don't know where they he was supposed to go to grandma's home. >> Supposed to go to grandma's house. >> Yes. He says it's about two or three miles >> from like which way? Is your home that way toward that way? It's down the road that way. >> Yeah. Yeah. I go to >> Would you be able to show me if we went for a ride? >> I can go to Claire's house. >> You know where would you be able to take me to grandma's house if we drove? Okay. I can eat. >> Yeah. Is it in my car? >> Uh, I mean, you guys are okay. >> Huh? >> Don't worry about him. >> We'll get him home. I'll try and get him home as best I can. >> I'll go. >> Okay, buddy. >> So, so, so you are in the big car now. Look at you. It's like the movies. I'm going to grandma's home. >> Yes, you're going to grandma's home. Nice to see you. Byebye. Thank you. >> Yeah, that's what he was saying. He lives right down there. >> There's about 20 DCF investigations. >> Oh, nice. Okay, >> we're going to go see mom. Okay. >> Why? >> Cuz she gets to tell you she gets to take you to grandma's house. Okay. Is mom home? >> No, >> she's not home. Where is she? I was at grandma's house. >> She's at grandma's house? >> Yes. >> So, you left? So, mom went to grandma's house and said, "Oh, as long as you get there." >> Yes. >> Yeah. Jeez. >> I guess I'm going to grandma's house. >> Okay. Well, what we'll do is we'll go check in with mom and then uh we'll take you to grand we'll take you to grandma's house or we'll go from there. Okay. The little boy was trying to drive to his grandmother's house about 3 mi away because that's where he felt safe. He believed his mother wasn't home even though Cory was inside. But in a child's mind, a parent who is emotionally absent and not supervising feels no different than an empty house. >> One more time. >> My mom is not home. >> She's not home. >> What about your dad? Do you know where your dad is? >> My dad >> Oh, that's not good. Who's uh Cringle? Who's that? The guy with the last name Cringle. Does your mom have a boyfriend? Is that who's staying at the house? >> No, that that that's my dog. >> Look who it is. Wait for it. You know who this lady is? >> Were you riding that out here? >> 231 2011 on scene. I think he wants us to go. You both live off Oric, right? >> I don't, but it's my house. >> That's your house? Oh, okay. Okay. So, they want us to go over to Oric. You all right with that? >> All right. So, he's Does he have to stay in here or can I take >> Oh, I mean if as long as you're going to come to Oric with us. >> Yeah, that's >> where mom is. I just guess. >> Sorry, I didn't hear you. >> So, I guess she was still sleeping. >> Oh, okay. >> We're going to go. We're going to drive over to >> Okay. >> I can't come in there. >> She's going to follow. We're going to go in the cop car. >> We're going to go to the corner. >> Hey, Bubba. Don't walk me in here. >> Well, yeah. I kind of have to. Do you see the dog? >> Do you know that one? >> No, that's one. Not mine. >> That one's not your dog. >> No, not mine. >> What about the house? Is that house familiar? >> That house? >> Yeah, that house. >> No, >> that you don't know that house either. >> No, I know. >> You're just playing with me. >> I know a house. I don't know what that dog >> Oh, you know the house but not the dog. Well, what house is that? >> My house. >> Okay. >> The grandmother's intervention exposed a deeply dysfunctional family pattern. She had to call repeatedly, then physically rush into the house and yell three times before the mother finally woke up. When Cory came to the door, her first instinct wasn't to grab her child. It was to explain herself. Before taking responsibility, she needed a reason that might earn sympathy. I've been knocking on the door for like 15 minutes. >> I'm sorry. I can't breathe right now. I've had this really bad cold. Um, yeah. I just told her. >> Did you not hear me banging on the door for like the last 15 minutes? >> No. >> Okay. Do you know that? >> My mom just called and told me what happened. Yes. >> Well, let's have a seat over here. >> Hi. Hi. >> You're Corey, right? >> Okay. So, good morning. I'm Robert Gay. This Mr. Mills. So, nice meeting you. All right. You can have a seat. It's all right. Um just kind of figuring out what's going on here. All right. So, I mean, of course, we're outside your house. So, um just because like I said, some of the questions we might get into, I'm just going to go over some things. All right. So, have you ever been involved with a um uh like an investigation where you had a provider statement or anything like that? >> Um provided a statement before you. >> Okay. So, um what's your full name and your date of birth? Cory and mid >> in February. >> You any influence of any drugs alcohol? No. >> Are you impaired in any way? >> No. >> All right. So, you're not on any types of medication or anything like that that would make you like, you know, silly or loopy or extremely tired? No. >> Okay. You haven't received any like uh or fallen down and bumped your head or anything like that? No. >> All right. Perfect. So, what happened today? >> I don't know. He woke up at 5:30. Like, he woke me up at 5:30 in the morning. He just started sleeping in his own room. And normally, he sleeps with me, so I can hear him when he gets up. Okay. >> Buddy's been like wanting to be bigger and sleep in his own bed, which is like down the hallway. But he woke me up at 5:30 and he just wanted the tablet back on and said he was going to go back to sleep. And then after that, he just didn't wake me up again. Like I thought he went back to sleep and I went back to sleep. >> Okay. Um, do you know where he was found? >> Mom said he was at 41. >> Yeah, he's on 41. Like a mile away. >> Yeah. Like he's never done that before. [clears throat] Like he always wakes me up. Like I don't understand why >> the door I mean you sleep with the door. The doors not locked or >> No, the doors aren't locked. >> Okay. [clears throat] Is there a reason why the doors unlocked that night or? >> Well, I was waiting for my brother to come home last night. He never came home, but I left the doors unlocked so we could get in the house. >> She described leaving the door unlocked as an act of kindness, saying she was waiting for her brother to come home. Ironically, that very choice is what allowed her child to walk out into traffic. When officers asked why she didn't hear the pounding on the door, she built yet another layer of excuse. >> You have today. >> My mom calling. >> All right. What did mom tell you? >> That was at 41. Didn't get the hell up. >> All right. What did you do? >> I got up. >> We were out here when your mom called though. You never came to the front door or nothing? >> Yeah, cuz I didn't hear any of you. >> Okay. So, you were awake and you still didn't hear us knocking on the doors, >> I guess. So, >> okay. Now, no was on 41. Did you have any inkling to maybe get up and put on some sneakers and >> Yeah. I mean, 41. As soon as she said that, I came out. >> She called. He called and said he was at 41 and then I got up and was like told Craig what had happened. >> I didn't come out until your mom woke up, got you and brought you outside. >> Well, I didn't I didn't know what was going on. I tried to call her back and be like we're at on 41 to be able to go down there and figure out what was going on and she didn't answer. It wasn't until she like called back and you guys were here that I got told that you guys were here with him and what was going on fully. >> Yeah. And actually that was a verbal conversation cuz your mom walked in the home. >> Yes. >> Yeah. Okay. Now Craig's inside too, right? >> Yes. >> Now, how how and again I'm you know whatever you How long you've been dating Craig? So >> two months. >> Okay. Knows Craig. So if like you ran out to go find and he came back and Craig was there would have been all right, right? So I mean it just seems like there's like a big like either LZ fair attitude about being a parent or a lack of like I give a damn. didn't know where he was at on 41 and I thought my mom was there and was fine and I was trying to get a hold of her so I knew where to go on 41. >> I for all I knew he could have been really far down. I did not know. >> Do you have a license? >> No. >> And like I said and you you didn't even we were still knocking on your door. >> I didn't hear anybody. >> Okay. Well, >> even when I was awake at that point, I still didn't hear anybody. My hearing is bad. It's not that I just sleep too hard and don't give a >> Well, that's what I mean. That's what it kind of seems like, okay? And I'm not trying to be mean. I I I'm trying to say this with compassion because I'm a parent, too. And I know and it's not as if like you haven't been guided or you you've been involved with DCF investigations before, correct? >> Yes. And they've always been closed out because I've always showed that I was adequate. >> Well, maybe we shouldn't aim for adequate. I I'm saying more than anything. >> She pointed to the fact that DCF had previously closed her case as proof she was a fit mother, failing to realize that meeting the bare minimum isn't the same as being present or protective. The responding officer, himself, a father, understood that distinction all too well. He spoke plainly, firm enough to cut through the wall of justifications Cory had built. >> Stand on up, please. Bring your hands behind your back. Just check the glass. We'll get you close. Okay. I mean, come on up here to the car. That way we're not we can keep you semi-dressed. All right. On. >> I'm going to let you I'm going to let your grandma uh let grandma go get some clothes. Can you let grandma go get some clothes? >> Do you have um do you have underclo on? >> I I see only the shirt here. Huh? Yes, you do. Okay. All right. >> You can just take the clothes with you. >> Yeah. >> Drop that. >> Okay. >> You can drop the blanket. >> Okay. Fine. That's your decision. >> Yeah. Don't even let her say bye. Blake. I've never been away from him. Okay. Just hang on. >> I'm good. Reach over so I can grab the seat belt if you're all right. >> We just have >> Okay. It's all by yourself. >> Who dressed you this morning? >> Good job. >> So, we're going to get out and we're going to end up going to my car. Okay. and I'll get you your slides >> and then let me slide closer to you so you don't and then I'll make sure that mom gets to talk to you before walking around everybody. >> Oh, 100%. >> All right, I got your phone. >> Thanks. and clothes are going in a brown paper bag. >> Why can't I have them on? >> Huh? >> Why can't I have them on? >> So that's the >> In the end, the mother was arrested and taken to county jail on a charge of child neglect. Though she was later released on bond, her file with DCF gained yet another dark chapter. She believed that as long as she didn't mean harm, she was innocent. But in both the eyes of the law and in parenting, indifference can be more dangerous than cruelty. What do you think about a mother with 20 prior DCF investigations retaining custody until something like this finally happens? And from one wrong turn by a forgotten child, the story cuts to another, where a late night dispute turns into fists flying in the dark. On January 19th, 2024, police were called to a parking lot to deal with a violent family dispute. A place that should have been safe for children turned into a battleground between blood relatives. If you've ever wondered what entitlement looks like in real life, this story delivers the answer. >> Sit down. >> Sit down. Okay. Sit down. >> Sit down on your butt. >> I'm going to talk. BACK UP. BACK UP. >> BACK UP. >> SIT DOWN OVER THERE NOW. >> Sit down. >> I ain't EVEN DO NOTHING. >> I GOT TO GATHER ALL THE STORIES. YOU'RE YELLING LIKE A CHILD. STOP. A MESS. >> YOU GO OVER THERE. Go over there. >> Calm down. 97. >> This is my daughter's day. >> Go speak to that officer now. >> You okay? You okay? Are you in the car right here? >> Huh? >> I'm here. I'm >> You called? Okay. Is this your son? >> That's her son. >> This is her son. Okay. This is your nephew? >> Yes. I'm calling because she hit me with a bottle. As y'all can see, I was bleeding. >> Okay. >> My mom trying to say we was fighting each other, which we was, but she the one got aggressive. She hit me in my head. I have a whole knot right here in my hand. >> Okay. Do you mind if I touch it? >> Yes. >> Right here. She was hitting me in the head with a hypnotic bottle. She just threw it in my mom back in her car. Why >> did she hit you? >> She got mad because I said something to my mom about somebody else job. >> Okay. >> And she Ben wasn't supposed to be around me. She supposed to been arrested from the last previous incident that happened at my aunt house. >> Okay. >> And then she reached over. In the middle of reaching over, she hit my baby. That's what made me run get >> by accident or purposely >> accident. >> Okay. By accident. >> But she she didn't what? >> This mom. This your mom. >> She didn't What? >> I'm the mom. >> Okay. >> Only thing I seen was they had a little disturbance. They don't like each other. >> Okay. >> So, I'm the mom and I'm in the middle. >> Both of us always go through go on all the time. >> How do they end up here at the same time? >> I'm They in the car with me. I'm >> Okay. They both in the car with you. >> So, I went to the look. So for my aunt, we going to go back to my aunt house. >> Okay. >> They always >> dragging a child into the middle of the conflict turned what could have been a civil dispute into a serious child abuse case, instantly raising the legal stakes. Yet instead of showing remorse, the suspect denied everything and tried to paint herself as someone who was incapable of aggression. >> So listen to take a breath and then start from going to be at my auntie house January 1st. I almost went to jail because of this girl right here. >> That Who is that to That's my sister. >> Okay. >> Always. I swear to God, bro. >> What happened tonight? >> What happened tonight? >> Don't even pray around me no more. >> What happened tonight? >> Just give her a side. I don't have a side. >> You don't have a side, >> bro. I don't have a side. >> So, I'm going to have to go slowly what she says, >> man. THAT'S WHAT THEY DID LAST TIME. JANUARY 1ST. I just almost had a warrant cuz of her. Took her side. >> But I'm asking your side. So, what what happened? >> She mad. She mad. She arguing over somebody like you're you're you're mad about somebody else business. Why are you worried about somebody else? If they want to be if they want to put on Facebook their manager, let them be a manager. It's not your business. Why you hating? >> Yeah. >> The only reason why you blowing that up is because me and the girl write together. She's lying. Say I hit her baby on my life. Oh Jesus Christ. I ain't hit that baby. She a big ass liar, man. I'm hot. My leg hurt on my hip. I fell on a skater like two months ago. my hip steady going out and now you think I got time to be arguing and fight >> I I ain't even let her spot the first time. She must have been one >> arguing in the car. >> I don't know who. >> Who was sitting where? Who was in the front? Who was in the back? >> In the back seat. >> She was she the smaller one was in the back seat. She was in the front seat. >> Yes. She got out the car to get her baby and to get her son. >> Okay. I don't know how they start fighting. I don't know how they start fighting. Okay. And where's the uh where's the bottle? >> In the backseat of the car. That's what hit me in my head. You can feel my knock. >> Is it broken? Is the bottle broken? Is this Is it still have Does it have liquid in it? >> Yes. Okay. >> She call it not broken. They always go through this. >> And she the baby girl. She always >> The small one or the one in the blue? >> The bigger one. She the baby. >> She's the baby. >> She always call the police on the phone. >> Okay. This is not the first time. >> No, it's not the first time. It's like the hund. >> The mother arrived but not with resolution. Rather than stopping the violence, she stood between the two sides, exhausted and hesitant. In that moment, motherhood blurred into passivity, where enabling behavior hid behind a moral facade. If this kind of conflict had happened hundreds of times before, those two children should never have remained around each other. >> One of them to go to jail, but I don't know. >> Yeah. Does Does the older one have any injuries? Was she hit with anything? >> They was fighting each other. One go to jail. hopefully to go to jail. >> Yeah, that's probably >> So I don't >> Are you okay with um with uh taking custody of the kids until we you know? >> If you have to. Okay. >> If I have to. >> Okay. >> She just trying to spit her so that she won't go to jail. She don't want to press charges on my sister. But I'm pressing charges on my sister. >> You said she accidentally hit your kid. >> She reached across my trying to hit me and she hit my baby. >> Okay. That's what made me actually engage on to fighting her back because she hit my daughter. >> So, this happened in the car. >> In the car. She got the glass bottle. As you can see right here, I have a big knot on my head. If you feel it, if you feel it, I have a big knot on my head. She's supposed to be from around me already. She's supposed to have a warn out right now as as it is because she was fighting me New Year's Eve. >> Okay. And when you were in the car, where did she actually like hit you? Do you Well, like where you were at? >> We was We was like literally my baby was in a car seat right here. I was taking my baby out the car cuz I was going to get >> So So it was like in the parking lot right here. >> Right here. Right in front of Dr. G's right there. My mom moved her car up right here. >> As you can see the side of my mouth and all of that. >> She is like she's very aggressive. The get very angry and mad. the the tag. >> So, I'll be honest because this situation happened in front of the baby cuz I know she said that the baby was accidentally hit in the process of them, you know, fighting with each other. We do have to contact DCF. So, DCF will be involved. >> DCF can come back to my house. >> Okay. Does she live with you? >> No. DCF going to come to my house. See how nice my house is and DCF going to close this. She believed a tidy home and solid finances could compensate for failed parenting and domestic violence. That mindset reflects privilege, the belief that social standing can shield someone from child welfare scrutiny. The investigation, however, exposed the real cause behind the incident. >> On your side of the story, >> to be honest, sir, only thing I got to say is I know I hit that baby. Other than that, >> just other than that, it >> from start from start to finish. Tell me, >> walk me through January 1. January 1st, me and my sister. >> Walk me through what happened today. >> I'm going tell you the whole thing. Why we were sitting in the car, not talking to each other? What expired? And she told the police that I jumped on her. They put a one out for me for real. I didn't even have a warrant. Then on top of that, we get we haven't been speaking to each other since then. I had to get a ride from my mom to go pick my son up. So I had to be in the car with her. >> Okay? >> She was already in the car. So now we running around not talking to each other. Not saying nothing to each other. Don't don't say nothing to me. I ain't saying nothing to you. Why are you worrying about if this girl a manager or not at my job? I'm packing y'all on her do that. We both got to go to jail cuz we I'm not going to JAIL FOR NO FIGHTING HER, MAN. >> Come on. Why you doing? >> Hard as it sounds, something trivial on social media ended in criminal charges. For people obsessed with control, seeing someone else do better feels like a personal attack. Aggression becomes their way to reclaim dominance, even when it plays out right in front of their children. >> I ain't even doing nothing, man. I'm mad. I'm not going to muff. >> I understand. >> It's hurting my arm. Don't put it too tight. >> It's not too tight. >> Just pull it up there. I'm pulling it up. Let me know you're going up and then we'll deal that way. >> Can you call 15 minutes. >> Listen to me. >> Listen, you're about to get wrapped up like you. >> All you're doing is catching more. If you break my car, it's a felony. >> I didn't even >> In the end, the woman was taken to jail and faced charges of child abuse, obstructing an officer, and aggravated battery. From an empty parking lot filled with chaos, the road leads straight to a Christmas without a tree, without freedom. On December 24th, 2023 in Florida, police were dispatched to a bar after multiple reports of a serious dispute involving a firearm. While officers were searching for a gun that had reportedly been tossed away, another fight suddenly broke out, pushing the situation far beyond what anyone initially expected. >> Hey, that one. >> Yeah, I did. >> It's It's in the garbage. >> It's mine. That's way too >> Hey, don't let anybody out of here. >> Officers quickly entered the bar's restroom to search for the weapon based on witness directions, but the trash can turned up empty. As the investigation continued, control was lost when another physical altercation erupted right at the scene. Where' the guy in the red go? >> It's not super greasy. [music] Put your hands up. >> I get what you saying. >> Put the beanie. Where did he go? Cuz he put a in the trash can. Nobody's leaving until we find that firearm. >> So someone took it. Y'all might as well tell me now and we can work around it. But nobody's leaving here. Hey, watch out. Watch out. Don't do it. Don't do it. >> LET ME GO. CHILL. CHILL. STOP. STOP. Cut that back. >> We're in the same car. >> She deliberately blurred the line between individual responsibility and group innocence, hoping that if the woman she was with was cleared, she'd be treated the same. The robotic repetition in her speech pointed to emotional dysregulation once control slipped away. Tension escalated as words gave way to physical resistance. >> Where are you? >> I am over there. >> She's primary. >> We're in the same car. >> Can I get my bag? >> We're in the same car. >> We're in the same car. >> We have our children in the same house. Let's figure out. Come on. >> What? What? What? What? What is going on? >> She tried to pull children who weren't even present into the story, betting that it might spark sympathy from the officers. But when the legal reality set in, she switched to the honor card, something she believed would grant her immunity. >> Bathroom [snorts] all red. We pulled him out and he didn't have on him. Then all hell broke loose. We lost him as proud. Got it. >> Yeah. They're checking trash cans and but then this car. So >> the was going on. Come to Blue Boy now. >> When moral appeals and professional explanations no longer worked, the suspect resorted to asking meaningless questions. She couldn't tolerate her ego being checked by state authority, so she reframed the arrest into a childish, almost innocent sounding narrative. Good for you. >> Yeah, cuz I didn't do anything. I didn't shoot nobody. I didn't kill nobody and do nothing. So why am I in handcuffs? Why am I in handcuffs? >> I told you that somebody that put you in handcuffs is not around right now. >> Okay. So why? So why? I need to know why. >> No, I'm not getting a car. So why? >> Stop. >> I'm not in the car. So why? >> Stop. Right here to explain it to you. >> Stop. Get in the car. >> Okay. So stop. Cuz I'm beautiful. >> So let me go. >> Get in the car. >> My legs are twisty. >> Get in the car. >> So why? Cuz I got retainer. Get in the car. >> So why? What did I do? >> Put your feet in the car. >> What the did I do? >> As soon as you put your feet in the car and act like a grown ass adult, I will tell you. >> What do you mean? I >> put your feet in the car. >> I be going to the dog. >> Put your feet in the car now. Move your foot. >> Now why? >> He'll tell you right now. >> Why? >> No. >> Tell me why. What did I do? How >> How long y'all been together? >> We've been together almost two years now. >> Two years. She has a husband. That's crazy. All right. What's your name? >> My name is Chelsea. So, what happened? That's what I'm trying to figure out. What happened? >> Chelsea, what? >> Chelsea roll. >> What were you guys arguing about tonight? >> Nothing. >> Okay. Well, why did you push her? >> We always like We always argue about some stupid [ __ ] or whatever, but it's nothing. Like, we still >> In the end, both women were arrested and taken to jail. Chelsea Roome was charged with simple battery and resisting or obstructing an officer, [music] while Imari Golden Wade was charged with resisting or obstructing an officer. While the charges differed in severity, both women were logged by law enforcement as part of the night's roster of holiday troublemakers [music] right on Christmas Eve. And somewhere else, a Karen chooses chaos just to feel powerful. On August 18th, 2025, police responded to a harassment call in a residential neighborhood. What started as a simple parking dispute turned into something bizarre. A woman wearing a hot dog costume was accused of a strange act of retaliation. What happened next spiraled faster than anyone expected. >> Right here with us. >> He I tried to apologize. I was like, how can he be so offended? >> Have stuff all over my hand. Obviously, she's already done it once. I just threw the gu through the excess toilet paper. >> Okay. >> I just don't know what else to do. I apologize for So, what what happened? She came back out and she's like wrapping your car in >> Oh my goodness. Let me show you the video cuz you're not going to believe me. You truly won't believe me. >> Hot dog costume. >> Hot dog costume. >> Said something about a hot dog. >> Hot dog costume is not a thing anymore. >> Oh, that was >> I crawled out in it. >> Oh, you [clears throat] were in a hot dog costume. >> I've known him for a year. He's been harassing me for a year. >> That's earlier before you called. She was out here for 30 minutes or so. She's literally dressed up in a hot dog outfit. >> The outfit. >> She took it off. She went back to the bathroom and took it off. But I'm like, >> that's why I said you're not going to believe me if it's a hot dog outfit. >> I was like, I'm so sorry that I put cheap Aldi toilet paper on your car. I was like, what if I just like you and I want to be your friend and you stop harassing me verbally? So, no, it's okay if it's my fault. No, no, no. This second we were here like it's actually literally okay if it's my fault. Arrest me. But he's been harassing me for a year. He called the government on my lawn and I was like, what if? What if just for once we could be friends? And he's like, "What are you doing?" I was like, "I'm doring him with toilet paper. He parked his car in front of my house on purpose. He's done it for a year." I was like, "What if for once?" >> You know, he can't park it on the street. It's not >> Oh, no, no, no, no, no. I've talked to him about it. >> But he can park that. >> I know, but I've talked to him about it. He's done it intentionally. >> But that's But he >> I know. >> And I All I did was when you guys were here, I left to go to Home Depot. >> Yeah. >> To get the chain. So, I got the chain on there. I did say, "Please get it off my car." You want to see if there's any damage to your car right there? And then she came back around and that's why she was walking. >> She chose to play the weird character to dodge the moral responsibility of being a grown adult, turning vandalism into a joke. When questioned, she immediately pulled out the I've been harassed for a year card as a moral shield. She wasn't chasing truth. She was chasing just enough sympathy to stay in control of the narrative. But imagine I've talked to him about it and he's done it intentionally and he called you guys on me before and he's like, "I'm so mad. Why'd you do it?" I was like, he told me he was doing lawn work, so he couldn't park his car. Didn't do any lawn work. So he put this 10-ft ladder up and did no lawn work. And he was like, "What are you going to do about it?" I was like, "Well, I'm going to gently dust all the cheap toilet paper on your car." >> Why? >> Cuz cuz he called the cops on me. >> So is that a reason? How old are we? >> How old am I? >> Yeah. >> I walked across the street and I said, "I I I wish that we >> How old are you?" I said I wish that we could have a How old are you? >> You're not listening. >> I'm asking you how old you are. >> I said I wish that we could have a relationship that goes past whatever you're trying to do. >> But I'm asking how old you are because what the the doing are very childish. >> It is very childish. >> You know what I mean? >> No, it is. You're not wrong. >> You look like a grown woman. >> No, you're not wrong. You're not wrong. >> I'm just asking. I'm just >> You're not wrong. >> All right, sir. We'll see what we can do. >> Yeah. Like I said, as soon as he swims, so I'm just putting the chain on. up cutting them down now and then I'll get the car into the driveway. So, it shouldn't be more of an issue, but we need train for sure. >> Yeah, we we got to figure something out. Not quite sure what that's going to be yet or not, but we'll get something done. >> Yes, sir. >> All right. >> Yes, sir. I I feel so bad. >> I have my text messages with him. He reported me to the government when I first moved in here as a single mom with no money. I couldn't afford to cut my lawn. He reported my lawn. All I was trying to do was ask him. I was like, "What if we could just like fix things?" It's okay. No, let me be the bad guy. This whole time I was like, what if we could just like make up for >> It's not about being bad guys or good guys. It's about just doing childish things. >> Being called childish hit Karen right in the ego. To patch up that bruised pride. She suddenly flexed her degrees and her genius IQ. In her worldview, intelligence isn't just a skill. It's a hall pass that supposedly puts her above the rules and above everyday social expectations. >> Know [snorts] what you're saying? I like literally know what you're saying. I have a genius level like you. I have a bachelor's degree. >> Okay, but then why are we out here? >> I'm gonna keep staying here and stoping with me. And he parked his cars in front of my house on purpose. Why? >> But why can't he park it? >> Why can't he park them in his own yard? He said he had to do his lawn work. You know, he didn't do lawn work. So he brought out his ladder. >> But why can't he? >> No, he brought out his ladder. >> I have videos. Why am I the bad guy? Cuz I'm the most loud one. I'll take it. I'll take it. He's been bothering me for a year. And you know what I tried to do? I tried to dissuade the situation by tossing stupid Aldi toilet paper on his car. He didn't do any yard work. Take me to jail. >> I don't know. >> I've been here for a year. I walked over there this morning and I told him I was like, I get you. I get you. >> She's leaning against it. He's ripping up toilet paper, throwing it. >> I'm sorry. I had toilet paper on this car. >> Well, what was the purpose is what I'm still asking. The purpose is that I've lived here for a year. >> Okay. >> And he's hating me the whole time. >> I mean, I wonder why. Look what you're doing. >> I deserve it. >> Look what you're doing. >> No, I told him the whole time when I moved in, I a single mom and I need You know what? I do deserve it. You're right. >> What's your first name? >> Marie. >> What's your first name? >> Huh? Do you have an ID on you? >> Nope. I do deserve it. I deserve to be disrespected. I've lived here for a year. >> No. No. I'm sorry. >> What's your first name? No, I disrespect him. I I respect you, man. What? >> You don't know what he did? >> Okay, good. >> I'm not going to tell you what he did because I don't want to disrespect him in his neighborhood. He's taking me in jail time. I won't tell you what he did. What is tag? He's been drunk all day. Look at him. >> What's his name? It's okay. Look at him. >> Can I have your name, please? >> No. When the I'm smarter than everyone angle didn't work, she tried to drag the neighbors into the spotlight by demanding a drug test, hoping to muddy the investigation. At the same time, she refused to give her identity because she knew the moment her name was confirmed, her fantasy of innocence would collapse. >> Do you want to be arrested? What's going on? Why aren't you helping us out here? >> Okay, then let's start with your name so we can get the explain why maybe this guy harassed me and I called the police to try to help me and what he did. Maybe drug test him right now. >> I can't drug test people. >> We can't. Of course not. Maybe drug test him and see what he's on. He tried to harass me. I've been here for a year. I'm a mess. >> I'm a mess. I know. I'm well aware of a mess. >> Ma'am, you said you're a single mom. >> He's been harassing me. >> Your child now. >> Where's your dad? >> And he's retired military unlike you. >> Okay. Thank you. >> So, he's been harassing me for years. Okay. Give me Why am I getting here? >> What am I getting arrested for? >> He harassed me. Okay, good. He harassed me. No, no, he harassed me. >> Are you Marsha? >> He harassed me. >> Are you Marsha? >> Right now, you're the subject of official detention and you're legally required to tell us your name. What is your name? >> Okay, I'm not saying anything till I have a lawyer. >> Okay. >> He He hurt me and I called you guys for help. Okay, whatever you want to say. I have videos. I'll have videos. Huh? >> I have videos of What are you doing? >> Are you serious? >> We're going to go to the other side. Do you have anything in your pockets? Face the car. >> Do you have anything on you that's going to cut, stick, or hurt us in any way? Lean up against the car. >> I asked for help and nobody else. >> We didn't call out people. >> He tried to hide. It's okay. You run my whole life. >> You have anything in your pockets at all? >> I do not. >> Lean up against the car. Spread your legs. >> I do not. No, of course I do not. I have a bachelor's degree and I have a genius level A. That man is trying to with me and he ass the whole time. >> In the mind of an entitled Karen, following the law was never the goal. Everything becomes a win-lose showdown. She wasn't upset because she did something wrong. She was furious because she believed she'd lost a power struggle with her neighbors. >> Are you going to get obstruction? >> You want more charges? >> I didn't do anything wrong. I asked for help. Imagine if you asked for help and this is what I get. >> Imagine. >> Lean up against the car. >> I'm not trying to hurt anybody, but I could. I would. >> Imagine you want some fun. I ask for help. I ask for help. This is what I get. This is what I get. I live here. >> You don't have anything anywhere. >> I don't I have a bachelor's degree. I'm an intelligent person. I am a mom of three kids and I'm a grandmother. >> Let me see. >> No, I will not. >> Yes, you will. >> I am a lawyer. You can have a lawyer when you get to jail. >> I don't want to go to jail. >> Lean back for you heard me. I have videos. >> Can you lean back for me? >> No, I have videos. You don't want to hear it. I have videos. >> Okay, lean back. >> No, I have videos. I'm not leaning back for >> Okay, >> I have videos. He heard me. >> He wins. >> He wins. He wins. >> Okay. Hear me and ask for help. You're not going to hear me. asked for help. >> Do you want us to lock your front door? >> No. >> You want us to leave your front door? >> I asked for help and he hurt me. I'm sorry if I put all the toilet paper on his car. >> Do you want us to lock your front door? >> I wanted to understand why he's been hurting me for a year and my redirection was to put cheap toilet paper on his car, >> which is not hurtful. >> You just close it, >> which is not hurtful. >> Okay. In the end, she was taken to jail and faced charges of disorderly conduct and nonviolent resisting obstructing an officer. She later entered a no contest plea and was fined $550, a steep price for 30 minutes of performance in a hot dog suit and a lifetime belief that the rules don't apply to her. And when toilet paper becomes a weapon of petty revenge, the story cuts to a drunk driver learning what speed really costs. On September 16th, 2025 in New Jersey, police conducted a traffic stop for speeding and reckless swerving. But the moment they approached the vehicle, the smell of alcohol and clear signs of impairment changed the nature of the stop entirely, setting off a chain of events no one expected. >> Hello. >> Hi, >> I'm Officer Santo. Can I see your license, registration, insurance, please? >> Can I have your license? >> Okay. >> Instead, I just want to let you know I'm stopping you for your speed. All right. You're going 85 and 50 when you're coming out of house. >> No. >> Is there a reason you're going that fast? >> No. >> What's that? >> No, there's no reason. >> Okay. Where are you heading to? >> I'm going home. >> Where's home at? >> Brick. >> Brick. You're going to brick? You're going in the opposite direction from Brick. >> Brick? Okay. Well, I'll fix it. But >> where are you coming from? >> I'm coming from a concert and my girlfriend. >> Okay. Where was the concert at? It >> was at >> Okay. Did you drop a friend off down that way or is that have your license. >> I'm trying. >> You don't have your license on you or >> I just Okay. So, me and my girlfriend together. >> Okay. >> I'm trying to work with you. >> Where do you usually keep your license? >> Thank you. How old are you? 25. >> 26. >> 26. Okay. >> Do you know where to go? Mhm. Okay. Do you have a copy of your registration? That's your insurance. >> I didn't drink. >> How much have you had to drink tonight? >> Nothing at all. Not even like uh like one alcoholic beverage at the concert cuz I'm smelling it coming out of the car. >> I am. And then you had a hard time maintaining your lane as well when I was behind you once you got on the 18. I want you to be honest with me because I >> No, I went to a concert at the time. >> Okay. >> Go home. >> Okay. All right. Well, you're heading in the opposite direction of where you said you live. And you also told me you live in Brick, meanwhile, you have a Manchester. >> No, I'm staying with my dad right now. >> Okay. Sit tight for me for one second. >> She claimed she was driving home to Brick, yet her vehicle was headed in the opposite direction. That kind of contradiction is a textbook sign of substance impaired judgment. She tried to frame herself as someone just heading home late from a concert, but her sluggish speech and constricted pupils betrayed the act. >> All right, Angela. So, listen. So, here's the deal. All right. So, I have some suspicions right there. Right now, that you are not an addition to operated a vehicle. Okay. You're smelling some alcohol coming off here. I got you going almost 50 mph over the speed limit and you're swerving all over the place. All right. So, what I'm going to ask you to do right now is if you could come out of your car and perform some sobriety tests for me. What's that? Okay. So, unfortunately, so this is how it's going to happen right now. Okay. So, if you come out of the car and you perform some tests for me and you're good to go, then I can send you on your way. >> Okay. Yeah, I'm taking away. >> All right, just be careful. Let's wait for these cars to pass and I'm going to have you jump out. Okay, jump on out and just go right to where this officer is standing. Okay, >> officer Casmme, looks like police just stand in front of your license plate for me here. Okay. All right, miss. Do you have any issues with your eyes that I need to be aware of? >> I can't see that well. >> Do you have any contacts in? Do you wear glasses? >> I have one contact in. >> One contact in. Okay. What happened to the other? I went to a concert. >> Mhm. >> And I could only find one. >> All right. But no other issues. No. All right. I just want you to stand with your feet together like this and your hands by your sides. Okay. I just want you to follow the tip of my pen with your eyes and your eyes only. You understand? Don't move your head. You understand? >> Yes. >> Okay. Keep your eyes on the pen. >> Don't move your head. Keep your head straight. Follow with your eyes only. Okay, miss. Now, just point blink your eyes a couple of times for me. All right. Now, we're going to go up and down. Keep following the tip of my pen with your eyes only. Okay. You understand? Okay. Okay, miss. One more eye test for you. Okay. Just feet together, hands by your sides for me. Okay. All right. Now, you see the tip tip of my finger. >> Yes. >> Yes. >> All right. I want you to follow this with your eyes and your eyes only. Don't move your head. You understand? >> Yes. >> Okay. Keep following my finger. Rather than admit her abilities were compromised by alcohol, she blamed her contact lenses. During the eye test, she repeatedly turned her entire head instead of moving just her eyes. An obvious desperate attempt to control a body that had already lost neurological coordination for. Do you have any issues with your back, your legs, your knees, anything that prevents you from walking normally or anything along those lines? All right. So, the next test we're going to do is the walk and turn. All right. So, what I'm going to do is I'm going to demonstrate it to you and I'm going to put you in a position and then I want you to stay in that position while I explain the rest of the test to you and have you do it. Do you understand that? >> All right. >> I'm trying to. Yeah. >> Okay. No, I'm going to explain it to you all right now. All right. So, what I want you to do is I want you to take your right foot and put it over your left foot like so with your heels touching your toes. See how mine are? With your heels touching? Good. I want you to stay in that position. Okay? I want you to keep your arms to your side and keep them to your side for the whole time for the test. Okay? I want you to imagine that there's a straight line in front of you. All right? >> When I tell you to begin, all right, I want you to take nine heel totoe steps like I'm going to show you right now. Okay? >> I used to do that right now. >> One, two, three. I'm only doing three. >> That's hard for anybody, but okay. >> I want you to do nine. Okay? Do you understand that? Yeah. >> And I want you to keep your arms to your side the whole time. When you get to that ninth step, I want you to do small choppy steps. Okay? And I want you to do another nine heel to toe steps all the way back. All right. Counting out loud. Okay. Keep your arms to your side. Do you understand the instructions as I explain them? You may begin. >> One after another. >> You told me you understood. You want me to explain to you one more time? >> No. Okay, one more test. Okay. It's going to be the one leg stand. What's your stronger leg? Your left or your right leg that you can balance on. >> This bad. >> So, your right leg. Okay. So, what I'm going to do is I'm going to put you in another position and I want you to stay in that position until I explain it to you. Okay. All right. So, I want you to stand like this. Okay. Like this. Like you're standing like a soldier. Okay. When I tell you to begin, all right, I want you to balance on your right leg. You looking at me? You can look at me. By insisting the tests were too hard for anyone, she tried to turn personal failure into a universal standard, avoiding responsibility for her intoxication. But when it came time for the one leg stand, her denial crossed the line from defiant to downright absurd. >> And while you're looking down at your toes, I want you to count out 10,000 1,002. You >> kidding me? You want me to explain it to you again so you have a better understanding of it or no? I'll explain it to you one more time. All right. I want you to stand like this. Okay. Okay. >> When I tell you to begin, you said you're going to balance on your right leg cuz that's your stronger leg. I want you to lift your left leg about 6 in off the ground. Okay? Arms to your sides. Keep them to your side the whole time. All right? I want you to look at the top of your toes on your left leg. And I want you to count out 1,00 1,00 2 1 3 and so forth until I tell you to stop. Okay? Do you understand it as I've explained it? Sure. Yeah. >> All right. You may begin. Okay, just just keep going. Keep going. Keep going. >> The wind the wind is actually going by. >> Arms to your sides. >> Keep going. >> Keep going. Keep going, please. >> Getting tired here now. >> Okay, you can stop. Just sit tight on your trunk for me for one second. Okay. >> I'm comfortable with it. Are you comfortable with it? >> What? >> Arrest. I know it was difficult for me to really get anything in this chin because she was moving her head. So, it's up to you. I'll document all that. >> Test is good. >> Yeah. Great. I don't know if I'm call out and open or something else. So, >> okay. In classic Karen logic, she could never be wrong. Every stumble was blamed on circumstances. Every arrest on overly harsh policing. Through the chaos, the officer remained almost icy in his calm. And the moment the arrest decision was made, she instantly pulled the tragedy card, a lastditch emotional defense. >> All right, Angela, do me a favor. Try not to place your hands behind your back. Okay. >> Right now, you're being under arrest for driving suspicion of driving under the influence. Okay. Um, my brother just passed a few months ago and I'm struggling and I've already had a DUI. Is it okay if you could not [ __ ] my life right now, please? >> Uh, so unfortunately get Uber like it's not for my safety. It's for whatever. >> It's not for your safety. >> No, I Uber home right now. >> Okay. So, unfortunately, we're past that point. >> No [ __ ] >> Okay. You made the death decision and unfortunately this is what happened. >> Put me through all those things that I passed and then So, unfortunately, you didn't pass a single one. All right. >> Okay. Whoa. >> Listen, if you just cooperate, we can get through this. Okay. Come on. Not going to hurt you there. >> Your phone and your wallet is in your car. I'll grab that for you, >> please. Okay. Where is it? >> There's like two purses. >> Well, I'm only going to grab your phone and your wallet. Okay. Your important things. Can you just see if you can fix that seat belt for real quick? Let's grab our phone and our wallet. So, listen. I have your phone and your wallet. Okay? This is all I'm going to bring right now. All right? My officer here is going to stay with the car and it's going to be secured and it's going to be towed. There's nothing else that I need to grab for you and that right now. I can't take anything big like bags and stuff, but I figured I'd grab your phone and your wallet for you. >> So, I have to go through another DUI now. >> Unfortunately, yes, Angela. That's what happens. >> Why can't I just Uber home? >> Cuz we're past that point. I'm not going to sit here and argue with you. Okay. You're ruining my life and you're going to bomb. >> You're going to sit on this bench right over here. All right. Okay. Right here. And I'm going to take one handcuff off and I'm just going to handcuff you by one hand. Right. You stand up for me real quick. Take them off. You want to be coughed by your left or your right? >> I don't mind. In the end, the woman was arrested on a DUI charge. If convicted, she could face up to $1,000 in fines and a driver's license suspension of up to 12 months. What do you think? [music] Was invoking the death of a loved one a genuine moment of emotional weakness or just the final manipulation when all other excuses failed. On what should have been a perfect evening filled with children's laughter, tragedy came crashing in. A car out of control plowed straight into the building where a birthday party was underway. Joy instantly twisted into [music] a nightmare no one would ever forget. Behind the wheel was Marcela, drunk and reckless, leaving nothing but chaos, heartbreak, and a crime scene cops were forced to untangle. >> She was pulled out from under the car. >> The firefighters are coming right over here. boy. He's not doing good. >> They're on their way. >> Take care of the baby first. >> Take care of the baby first. >> Which one? >> Can you come with me just for a second? >> Are you driving the car? What? >> Can you come with me just for a second? You okay? the B club fort. Are you remember? >> Yeah, I was just coming down here. Oh my gosh, this is terrible. >> Have you been drinking at all today? >> A little bit. Yes. >> Okay. When's the last time you had something to drink? >> Probably half an hour ago. >> Half an hour ago. What do you drink? >> Wine. >> Wine. Okay. What's What's your name, hun? >> Marshalla. >> Marshall? What? This is Okay. You don't have any weapons on you, do you? >> No. >> All right. I'm just going to leave you back here just for a little bit. Okay. >> Okay. If there's anybody in there in here, >> I don't know. >> Is anybody in here? >> I don't think that. >> Okay. All righty. So, what's going on today? >> Um, not too much. I went out to lunch with some friends and I came back and came down to the boat club and I drove up to the boat club and that's the last thing I remember. >> One second. Just cuz you're in handcuffs, um, I got to read you this. Okay. >> Okay. >> Um, >> you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. Do you wish to speak to me today? Where where were we at today? >> I went to lunch with some friends. >> Okay. But what time was that? >> Um noonish. >> Where was that at? >> At Vera. >> At Vera. Uh what' you drink there? You drink water, pop? >> I had a glass of wine. >> Just one glass of wine. >> Yep. >> Okay. Okay. So, you have one glass of wine at Vera. Um after that, what happens? You leave at noon. Where do you go? >> Came home. >> Um what do you do when you get home? Um, I just came home and just kind of chilled out and was waiting for my husband to get up. He was taking a nap. >> Okay. >> Um, did you drink anything else there? >> No, I didn't even I didn't even get a drink down here because I never met >> And then where where were you driving to? >> Just from Verest to here. >> To here. What were you coming here for? >> Home. >> Oh, you're So you're going from Veras to home? >> Yeah. >> And you left Veras at noon? >> Yes. >> Okay. Um, but then you said you went home first. >> I'm home here. Even then, she didn't seem to grasp the horror she'd just caused. Instead of worrying about the lives she shattered, all she cared about was whether she'd be arrested. While firefighters and medics worked frantically digging through the wreckage for survivors, body cam footage caught the brutal reality. Guests hurled across the room from the sheer impact [music] when rescuers finally found Mariah and Jaden. Both were in critical condition. Mariah slipped into a coma at the hospital while Jaden had to be airlifted. His tiny body losing blood too fast. This is a breath test. Um, I just want to see where you're at with your alcohol level. If you have a one glass of wine, it's going to be really low. Okay. So, uh, just go ahead and, uh, blow like you're blowing a balloon. Okay. >> Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Thank you. >> I just want to make sure everything is okay. >> Oh, absolutely. >> Oh my gosh, that was so scary. >> Do you remember what happened when you were going around here? >> No, not really. I pulled into the parking lot and I was I thought I was driving up to the bowl club and evidently I was driving right into the pavilion. >> When you got to the parking lot, what happened? >> I don't remember. >> You don't remember? >> I don't remember. >> Okay. Um got to the parking lot. You don't remember anything? >> I don't. >> Moments later, Brian, the devastated father, got the news no parent should ever hear. Both his children were gone. His wife and eldest son were [music] still clinging to life. But that didn't ease the blow. He collapsed. His cries of despair echoing through the night, tearing at the hearts of everyone who stood there powerless. >> Oh my god. Oh my god. No. No. NO. NO. NO. NO. I'M BACKING YOU. I'm [ __ ] bro. Come on, bro. Come on, bro. No. Stop me. Stop me. >> Come on, bro. I didn't do nothing. >> I haven't done nothing. I haven't done nothing, bro. No. >> No. No. You're lying. This is a dream. This is aing dream right now, bro. Please wake me up. [music] Please. I'm begging you. Wake me up. No. No. No. Right now. He's lying, bro. Please. He's [ __ ] lying, bro. Bro. Bro. Please. [music] Please. He's lying. Please tell me he's lying. Please. Please. Don't [ __ ] away. They just was with me. They just was with me. They just went with me. No. No. He's lying. He's lying. No. He's lying. I'm begging you. He's lying. Mike. Mike. He's lying, bro. I'm telling you right now. I was just with him. I was just with him. Stop it. He's lying. No. I'm telling you. No. Stop. He's lying. I'm telling you. Listen, listen. Listen, listen to me. Just listen to me. >> Breathe. >> Mariah. >> Mariah. We need you right now. Listen. Everybody needs you. >> Not my little boy. They went to a birthday party. They went to a birthday party. >> All righty. We're all done now. >> Okay. Can >> Yes, ma'am. You need some help? >> Can you take these off for now? >> Yeah, sure. >> I'm not going to run away. I trust you. >> I'm not going to run away. I promise. >> I know. I trust you're not going anywhere. But when we do leave here, I got to put them back on when we go through the jail. That's just policy procedure. >> That's lose your pants. >> I don't want you to fall. >> No, I don't want to fall. >> I'm going to try to hold you up here. Okay. >> Okay. >> We might bump into each other, but that's all right. >> They'll bury. >> She took She took both of them. >> No. Listen, listen. Listen. >> You can't do this life anymore, Mike. I can't do it right now. >> Look what he just did to me. Look what he did to me. >> Don't do that, bro. >> Look what he did to me. Mike, don't tell me. Don't tell me. Look what he did to me. Look what he did to me. Bro, >> he didn't do that. >> I didn't do that. That drunk did that. >> Meanwhile, Marcela was hauled off to jail for questioning. With evidence stacked against her, she still chose lies over remorse, spinning stories to dodge the truth. For her, being branded a liar was easier than admitting she'd stolen two young lives. >> How often do you drink? >> Um, I was drinking quite a bit there, but I've kind of switched over and I'm doing a free now. >> What's a free? >> It's uh alcohol-f free. >> And you know, you crashed into the building, right? >> I know. >> Do you know what happened? >> I do not know. Um, again, I just had one glass at um Vera's. Um, >> do do you drink hard liquor? >> No. Yes. And I might have had a glass at the boat club. >> When at the boat club? >> When I went there after Veress >> and then went to the boat club, had a glass of wine. >> Yes. >> And then blacked out in the back of the car. >> Yes. >> Well, that's not accurate. >> Okay. >> Okay. Because your car is going 50 m an hour into the driveway and drives into the building. So, you didn't go to the boat club before the crash. Okay. And we know the crash is at 3. >> Okay. >> And we know that Verna's was at 12:10. Because the alcohol level you were at at 4:00, it's not practical. It's not feasible that you had one glass of wine. So then then it's not possible that you drank at the boat club because your car drives into the building and everybody stops drinking. Nobody's drinking. >> And you didn't go over to the bar and get a drink after you drove into the car. Drove in. No. >> And I don't remember any of that. I had one um actually I was at the boat club and I was drinking free and that's when I they call it a like a white halo effect and it just everything gets really bright >> because your level you were a 21. >> Oh that sounds like a lot. >> Oh yeah. So 08's the legal level. >> Okay. One glass of wine or one beer or one 1 oz shot of liquor is 02. So that would equal about 10 drinks within an hour. >> But as detectives pressed harder, her mask cracked. Fear and panic finally bled through. Though [music] she never showed an ounce of compassion for the grieving family. The cops kept pressing, using forensic evidence and eyewitness testimony. piece by piece, dismantling every excuse he tried to cling to. >> We're going to start fresh, >> okay? >> And I'm going to ask you a very blunt question, >> okay? >> Are you an alcoholic? >> I don't believe so. >> I see you're getting a little emotional. I apologize. >> Well, I I think >> it's I have to ask these hard questions and and you need to look into yourself, >> right, >> and answer this truthfully, >> right? And I would say I drank considerably more when I was not drinking the free. But since I started drinking the free, I'm not drinking nearly as much. >> At this point, you are trying to deceive us with how much you drank yesterday and where you were at between noon and 3. So, this is your one opportunity to tell us the truth and look truthful and not deceitful because there's only going to be one of two ways that you're seen. One way, you're a liar, no good criminal. >> Okay. >> All right. Second way, she's sorry for what happened. She wants to own up to what she did and she wants to take resp. Are the most hated person in the United States. You drove your car into a kid's birthday party and killed two kids. >> Oh no. >> And many more are at the hospital in critical condition right now. >> Oh no. >> Adults as well. That is why I'm trying to get the truth from you, Marshall, so I can tell the prosecutor that you're not a low down dirty drunk that wants to go out there and kill kids. >> Oh gosh, no. >> I'm looking for the truth, Marshalla. The truth needs to come out because you are the most hated person in the whole United States right now. I guarantee this is national news. I've been doing this for a long time. I've sat across the table from killers before, like really, really bad killers. You're not that person. And I don't remember. I'm just devastated. >> So are many people right now. >> I'm sure they are. >> They're looking for answers and we're trying to help them find answers. >> I understand. >> But you're not telling us the truth. You understand? But you're not telling us the truth about how much you drink. >> So there's one thing I want to leave you with, Marshall, because I'm tired of being lied with. You did this. You did this. You see that kid there? You did that. You did that. >> In the end, there was no [music] escape. Charged with seconddegree murder, DUI manslaughter, and aggravated injury, Marcela faced the weight of justice. Her blood alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit. Proof she knowingly got behind the wheel, gambling with innocent lives. The judge's sentence was brutal, but fitting, 25 to 50 years behind bars. For Marcela, prison walls will be the last place she ever calls home. On December 20th, 2024, police were called after reports of a woman involved in multiple shoplifting incidents at various stores. The suspect was quickly spotted just outside Target where she was detained for questioning. But then things took a far more unexpected turn. >> What have I done? >> So, if you want to explain to her what? >> Real quick. So, right now you are being detained for a suspicion of retail theft over at the Kohl's earlier today. Do you have an ID on you? >> No, I don't. >> Okay. Just go use the bathroom real fast, I think. >> Not right now. Okay. >> Where are you coming from today? >> I'm just walking around. I just came from one of the stores. I haven't done anything wrong. >> I haven't done anything wrong. >> No. Do you? >> Ma'am, you're not free to leave at this time. >> Who's that? >> You're being detained. >> Ma'am, >> you are being detained for what? >> You need to stop. >> Let me see. Let me use the bathroom. >> You No, you're Nope. Can I call my sister? >> We're going to give you a moment to call whoever you'd like. >> Why are you entertaining me? That's me. >> That's you walking out of Kohl's >> when? >> At 2 or excuse me, 2:20 in the evening or the afternoon? >> No. >> So, we can confirm that? >> No. I just want to go use the bathroom myself. Can I just go right there? >> Nope. >> Nope. [snorts] All right. Brenda, do you have a middle initial mail? >> No. >> Okay. What's your birthday? Did you do [snorts] you have a driver's license? >> No, I don't. >> Okay. Where? Okay. Do you have a state ID? >> No, I I I I I have a license. I just don't have anything with me. >> So, Brenda, I'm going to tell you right now >> what's going on. [clears throat] >> Again, you are being detained for suspicion of retail theft. They have you over at Kohl's here, just up the way on video, putting makeup in your pockets, walking out of the store without paying for it. >> I didn't put makeup in my pockets. I have you I have you on video makeup. I didn't take any makeup from that store. >> If any of the information that you've given me, because right now I do have probable cause for your arrest. If any of that information that you've given me is false, that is going to be an additional charge for a sharking identification. >> No, that's me. And can I go home now? >> Officers approached the situation professionally, explaining the reason for the detention while presenting surveillance footage from the store. However, the woman immediately tried to shift the focus by asking to use the restroom. A common tactic to stall or find a chance to escape. No, >> but I'm I'm okay. I'm okay. >> Calm down a little bit. Adam, >> no. >> I'm not leaving. Sorry. I'm light as you're not free to leave like we don't be mean to me. >> I'm not being mean to you. I didn't take makeup though. I didn't. That's not I didn't I I some a sample thing I used, but I didn't take any makeup. >> Why have you on video putting it in your pockets? No, that was never that's that this was a sample. >> The exact same clothes that you're wearing. >> It was a sample. >> Well, you put it in your pockets. >> But it was a sample pockets. That doesn't matter. You can't. >> I thought you could. It's a sample. >> Well, no, that's not how it works. >> It was a sample. I don't even Are you willing to show me? >> I don't have it anymore. >> Okay. >> I don't have that anymore. I don't I don't even have it. >> Don't have it anymore. Okay. Where would it be? >> It was just some sample stuff and I didn't like it. Where would it be? I don't know. I just kind of threw it in. It might be right over there in the garbage. I didn't keep it. So, >> okay. >> I didn't. And it was a sample. I didn't think that was wrong. It wasn't It wasn't like I didn't take You understand why I didn't know that it doesn't >> They were on the display and it didn't say anything. Hold on. Let me finish, please. >> I'm sorry, but I didn't mean God. >> I'm talking right now. >> Okay. There's nothing on there that said they were samples. They were displays are samples. I didn't I didn't even keep it. I did, but it was just I didn't steal like take stuff like like you know what I mean like stuff like that. I didn't. Okay. >> Those were wrong and I threw them out. I did. They weren't even my color. You know, you're just goofing around. I didn't mean anything. I took two samples. >> Brenda, I'm going to ask you again. Do you have anything with an ID? >> I don't have anything. >> You have anything with your name on it? >> No. >> All right. >> My face is my face. >> Well, that's that's okay. You don't >> 1065. No, I don't have anything on me. >> You don't have a debit card? >> I don't have anything on me today. >> Police continued to ask about identification, her phone, and credit cards, but she insisted she wasn't carrying any. Yet, the hoodie she wore still had a price tag attached and clear marks where a security sensor had just been removed, proving it was newly stolen. When questioned, she brushed it off, claiming it was just a new style. >> Here with me. Okay. >> You just told me you don't have a phone. >> No, I said it's my friend's phone. I don't have a phone. So, same thing. Same thing. >> You're all over the place here. >> Same thing. I'm all sad right now and and I wet myself cuz all of a sudden I'm in trouble for some and they were like they they were um translucent. >> Yeah. And then it was like so I didn't even keep them. Okay. What? You have a tag still on your hoodie. What happened there? That's just my shirt. You left the tag on it. >> It's just my shirt. >> It's a new style. >> Yeah, it's not a new style. No, I you ripped the You ripped the scanner off, but the tag's still attached. >> I didn't write a scanner. This is not I didn't rip a scanner. This is mine. >> Wait, look at the tag. Want me to show >> I know. I see the tag there. But that's not that. That's mine. >> Okay. I'm >> I see that there. I have layers on today, >> girl. I'm just saying you left the tag on. >> No, I didn't leave the tag on. It's not It's just something I threw on. Okay. Okay. Okay. >> What are you looking for? So, according to Kohl's, she's got a Walmart cart somewhere where she was dumping stuff by a bush. She's wearing the exact same clothes that she was wearing at the time of the theft. I think that she's giving me a phony baloney name. >> Okay. >> Um, she claims she has nothing with her ID. >> Okay. >> I got a couple other things I'm going to try to ask her. Either way, she's going to be coming with me cuz I have no way to ID her. So, I'm going to double check with Kohl's as far as what she left in the bags and whatnot. But what she took today, we have her on video. You can see her clearly on the display putting stuff in her pocket. She walks out of the store. >> Did Cole's give you a itemized list of those items from the earlier theft? >> They did. >> Okay, very good. >> Am I going to Can I use the bathroom at least? >> As of right now, no. >> Did you just come from where'd you say Kohl's? Where? >> No, I wasn't at Kohl's. I was just walking around. I was about to call and try to get a lift or something to get him back. Yeah. >> Oh, how are we going to do that if you don't have anything on you? >> You don't have any money or nothing? >> I don't have that money for lift. No, >> you just said you don't have cards or anything. I don't have no I don't have anything on me. So >> the woman gradually realized that every excuse was useless. She tried to divert attention with unrelated questions like why she should listen to the officers or even complimenting their looks. This was a desperate attempt to distract and stall for time. >> I'm not leaving so you don't have to act like >> Well, we asked you to stay there and you haven't. So >> because I'm nervous. I don't see why I have to do what you say. >> Because I'm a police officer. That's why. >> That doesn't make a difference. I mean I'm still a human being. I and I'm treating you fairly, am I not? >> I just have asked you to stay there. >> That makes my job easier. >> I'd like to go some I like to go home. >> Well, >> am I going to be able to go home? >> Unfortunately, I I don't know. My partner is the >> home. >> So, you know the other the other gentleman that you were talking to before I came in here? >> We're going to have to talk to him about that. >> I came here late. That's why I was asking what your name is and all that. >> Dennis and Peters. I'm not going to run away. Dennis, I'm not going to hit you. I've never had any I've never done anything violent. >> I'm not saying you're I'm not saying you're a violent person. >> Where where is home? >> Down the street. >> Oh, okay. >> I'm just pacing, sir. I'm sorry. >> You might pace, too. You're handsome, though. >> Thank you. >> You're nice looking, too. There's Oh, I appreciate you. That's very kind. >> You found it right here. >> Yep. >> You're the man, dude. Appreciate you. >> This is I think she's giving me a phony baloney name. I I would assume so, especially if she's not coming back, >> correct? So, I'm going to try a couple other things. >> Did you talk to Target? Cuz this is Target's bags. >> Target. So, earlier they said she didn't take anything, but that may have changed between now and then. >> Yeah, he's actually So, you're going to want to check somebody go check up on him. He's going to go review footage. So, she she >> can I go home and Hunter? >> My name's Officer Hunter, badge number 1120. >> What are we waiting for >> right now? We have somebody talking over to Kohl's. I just want to go home. >> Okay. So, >> please >> I'm gonna ask you to stop moving around and stand right there for me, please. Okay. >> And that's the that's the last warning. [clears throat] >> Could you turn and face me, please? >> I can hear you. I don't have knife or anything able to see you. >> Okay. >> I'm not asking. I'm telling. Turn around and face me. >> Thank you. >> Yes, sir. >> What part of stop moving around do we not understand? >> I'm sorry. Earlier, another officer had discovered a Walmart shopping bag hidden in the bushes, suspected to be merchandise she had just dumped, further strengthening the evidence against her. At this point, she completely lost control of the situation. The mounting tension pushed her into extreme anxiety, triggering physical reactions she could no longer contain. >> Out to Kohl's earlier today. They advised me that there was a retail theft of several pieces of makeup items offered for sale. The total value of those items is $141. They have you on video walking over to the makeup section, putting those items in your pocket and walking past the last point of sale without procuring a form of payment. I'm talking. You're listening. >> I'm apologizing. >> I'm sorry. I'm sorry. >> I'm trying to be nice, but we keep talking. >> Can I take my stuff that I bought? >> Hold on just a second, please. I'm going to actually have you stand right here, right next to me, please. >> Which way? >> Just right here. And I'm going to have you face that way, please. Looking over at this. No, no, I am not. I'm standing right here. >> Okay. We're just hanging out right here because we have somebody from Kohl's that's going to take a look at you. >> They're going to come to us. >> Okay. >> Turn over and look at that squad car for me. The white one. >> I don't want to. >> Okay. >> Why do I have to look at the squad car? >> Okay. >> I want to know. Give me an >> Because they need to take a look at you. >> And that guy that's like I explained before. >> Oh, this is the guy in the car. >> Yes. >> Which car? The white guy. >> The white one that just drove past. >> Some incognito thing. He thinks I'm going to come get him. I'm not going to do anything anymore. >> That's just a police procedure. >> They see me. >> That's >> Can't they show Can't they They see me with the scar. >> Very good. >> Very good. >> All right. >> So, what happens now? Let's just be honest. I'm very nervous. I peed on myself. >> Okay. >> I did. >> So, at this moment in time, if you have nothing that can prove to me who you are, you are going to be placed under arrest at this time. Do you have anything that can show me who you are? Don't go region for nothing, please. Mindful of your step. I won't let you. >> You're going to have to really help me. >> Okay, I've got you. I'm not going to let you fall. >> I'm just going to take your hat off. >> No, don't. >> I have to take it off. It's departmental policy. >> I I don't know. No, please don't. I usually I have a religious beanie that's in my purse. >> It's going to go right back on. I have to take it off real quick and then >> Oh, God. Don't do this to me. Please let me go home. >> Nope. We're past [snorts] that point. >> Okay. >> I want it back on now. I'm Brenda, >> please. >> I'm going to put it back on. I said I had to take it off for a second and put it right back on. >> Can I have my religious beanie? >> Your beanie is still on your head? >> No, it's Is it on my head? Cuz I was hiding taken it off. I have a religious beanie I wear all the time. >> What color is it? >> It's black. >> It's still on your head. >> I don't know. >> In the end, the woman was taken to jail and charged with petty theft, merchandise valued at $141, and obstructing an officer giving a false name. Based on these charges, she could face fines, restitution to the store, or jail time. On February 16th, 2025, cops pulled over a car flying down the road at 78 mph in a 45 zone. At first, it looked like a routine traffic stop. But when the woman behind the wheel showed clear signs of being drunk and started pushing back, things escalated fast. >> How's it going? again. How are you? >> Great. My name's Officer. Is there a reason you're driving way over the postal speed limit? >> I honestly have no idea where I'm at. >> So, you're drunk. >> No, no, no. I'm not. I don't know. I'm I live in Tampa. >> Okay. So, the speed limit back there is 45. I was doing 80 and I wasn't even catching up to you. You were gone. >> Oh, really? >> Yes. So, right now, I'm going to ask you to step out of the vehicle. Do you have a driver's license? registration and proof of insurance. >> Yes, I do. >> And you clearly smell of alcohol. >> 10:31 going on. >> [ __ ] You're 50. I flipped around and all of a sudden she bolted. >> Yeah. I've asked you for your registration proof of insurance. >> How did I bolt? Cuz when I turned around, you weren't doing You were doing 50 mph when I turned around and then you were gone. Straight up just gone. >> Well, I honestly I don't live here. I live in Tampa, so I don't know where my >> And you're still in your speech. You smell of alcohol. Step out of the vehicle. >> Ma'am, I'm not going to ask you again. You're going to step out of the vehicle or I'm going to take you out of this vehicle. Walk back to the car. What's going on? >> What are you guys doing? You guys are driving way over speed limit. >> I'm not driving. >> I know you're not. What's that in your hand? >> Her bottles of lotion. I guess I got out here. >> From the start, she was in denial. She admitted leaving her ID at a bar, but swore up and down she wasn't drunk. A contradiction that screamed irresponsibility. With those red flags, officers had every reason to run a sobriety test. >> I'm headed to my parents house off of Alligator Lake. >> Where y'all coming from? Alligator Lake is way over there. >> I know, but I I just had corial transplant in my eye, so it's really hard for me to see through this line. So, like >> So, that doesn't If you can't drive at night, you shouldn't be driving at night. I know. >> I'm happy to send a letter to a DMV to take away your license. >> If you can't drive at night, you should not be driving. >> I know, but I I can't I can't help my situation. >> So, you smell of alcohol straight up. Just going to be blunt. >> I was out of power, but >> Well, I can tell. >> Yeah, >> I can absolutely tell. I initially thought you 50 mph. >> And when I turned around, you were gone. I have no idea. >> My car is recording and I was doing 80 miles hour trying to catch you. >> I'm sorry because I have no idea. >> So, it doesn't matter at this point. So, now I'm going to ask you to do focus right exercises. >> Okay. I I can't do whatever you're going to pull out with your glass. I can't do that with my eye. I can't. >> Why not? >> I just had a corneal transplant. Like, what do you not understand? >> So, are you refusing to There's more than just the eye. No, there's not. You cannot do that. >> You can just go to jail. >> No, no, no. I'M NOT GOING TO JAIL. STOP. I'M NOT GOING TO JAIL. STOP. STOP. STOP. >> STOP. Are you kidding me? Stop. Stop. I won't do it. >> Put your arms back. Stop. >> I just my eyes >> and I said there's more exercises than your eyes and you said no. Clearly. >> No, I won't. >> Don't move your eyes. >> I won't do it. I will do whatever you want. >> Just calm down. >> Just relax for a second. Relax. >> Tension built when she flat out refused field tests, [music] trying to dodge solid proof and stay in control. But once the cuffs came out, her confidence cracked. replaced by panic and desperation. >> Exercises. >> Okay. And I will do them. >> But you just told me no. >> No, I said I will do them. >> You just told me no. >> No, I said I can. No, I CANNOT DO ANYTHING WITH FLASHLIGHT. I SAID >> STOP. >> Tell me your situation. >> What's my situation? >> Douglas >> because she's resisting. >> I'M NOT RESISTING. I'M NOT RESISTING. I SAID I CANNOT DO ANYTHING WITH MY EYES IN A FLASHLIGHT. >> I JUST HAD A CORNEAL TRANSPLANT. ARE YOU OUT OF your mind? >> And ma'am, you said that and I said okay, >> MA'AM. AND I SAID I WOULD I WOULD SAY I would do everything. I WOULD I WOULD DO EVERYTHING. >> I SAID I WOULD DO IT. AND NOW YOU SLAM INTO my car. >> Well, we tried to put you in HANDCUFFS OUT HERE. WHY >> you didn't? BECAUSE YOU SAID NO. >> NO, I SAID I WILL DO everything I will, but I cannot do anything with flashlights TO MY EYEBALLS. >> AND I SAID THERE'S more exercises. >> OKAY. AND I SAID I WOULD DO IT. AND NOW NO, NO, NO. I said I would do it. And now YOU'RE having >> ma'am. >> I mean, I don't do anything like a boy. >> So, calm down and take a deep breath. All right. >> Okay. But like I'm just telling you I can't do anything with flashlight. >> You explained that to me and I said okay. >> And I said I would do that. >> Hold on. I said there's more exercise. >> And I said I would do that. >> No. You said no. >> No. I said I would do that. I was saying that. >> No. I said NO TO FLASHLIGHTS TO MY eyeballs because it it is going to hurt my eyeballs. >> Okay. And I going to be a deterioration. >> Even in handcuffs. She kept arguing, claiming she'd cooperated, then blaming the cops for acting too quickly. She bounced between excuses, self-justification, and changing the subject, desperate to rewrite the narrative. >> You already >> No, not yet. >> Yeah, I know. >> So, I'm trying to ask me anything because my car. >> I just asked you, >> are you going to do any damage to my car? >> Damage to your car. I just asked you, will you give a voluntary breath sample? >> It's yes or no. It's 100% up to you. >> Why? When you guys are just being straight. >> I didn't come here to take you to jail. That's not >> Yeah, pretty much. You did. >> That's not at all why I came. >> All I want to do is go back to my house. is not even >> to can. Okay. You are swearing your your eyes are bloodshot. >> How do you know my eyes are bloodshot? I have I have one contact in my eye and one contact not in my eyes. >> Are you are you? >> No, you cannot say that my eyes are bloodshot because >> let me read her pipe and say quick. >> So listen to >> you got to look at me. >> Ma'am. I'm good. >> No. So, you're going to look at me while I do this? >> Yeah, >> absolutely. Or you'll have a resisting charge on top of a DUI. >> Okay. >> You want to keep tracking? >> Go on, baby. Over here. Go on. >> Whatever you feel is needed. >> I'm now requesting that you submit to a lawful test of your breath or breath for the purpose of determining its alcohol content and or the presence of chemical or controlled substances. I'm requesting you submit to a test of breath. Will you take this test? >> Yes or no? Finally, after being warned about losing her license, she gave in and agreed to a breath test. A clear sign the weight of reality was sinking in. By then, though, police had more than enough evidence to move forward with charges. Additionally, if you refuse to take the test I requested of you and if your driving privilege has been previously suspended for refusal to submit to a lawful test your breath, urine or blood, you will be committing in addition to another penalties which can be imposed. >> Do you understand what I've just read to you? >> Yes, I do. >> Do you still refuse to submit to the test? >> Can you undo this and I'll be a bro? >> Do you still refuse to submit to the test? Yes or no? No, I'll do one. But will you >> the breathalyzer at the jail? >> At the jail? >> Yes. We don't have breathalyzers in our car. >> Can you just please let me go home? >> No, you're drunk. You're I'm not letting you drive drunk. >> So, I'll take an >> You said you're going to Alligator Lake, which is real. You're in Lake City. We don't have hardly ever. >> No, you do. >> I I guarantee you you do. >> What? >> Do you guys mind transporting? to stay right here. >> Do you guys mind transporting? I got the kilos. >> What's his name? >> Okay. >> Let's walk over here real quick. >> Hey, stop in. >> Ow. You did that. You did that. That was all you. >> In the end, she was arrested and booked for DUI and resisting without violence. If convicted, she faces up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine for each charge. On May 10th, 2023, what started as a routine traffic stop quickly took a sharp turn after officers spotted a car with expired plates. At first, everything seemed normal. But just [music] minutes later, things unraveled in the most unexpected way. What really happened after the driver [music] rolled down her window? >> Hi. >> Hi. >> How are you? >> Good. How are you? >> This is my car. I just asked I asked my friend to drive the police feeling well. >> Okay. I'm Officer Brown, Cocoa Beach Police Department. >> So, the registration is expired. >> I know. I actually didn't. So, I'm from New York. I live here now, but in New York they do the registration totally different. And I thought that they do it every year, but apparently I just burned this like two days ago >> on your birthday. >> Yeah, exactly. And my birthday just passed. April, so I just >> All right. Um, >> should I just like not be driving because I don't have my information? >> No, you're fine. As long as it's good, you're fine. Uh, what state are you from? >> Florida. >> Oh, Florida. Okay. All right. All right. Give me like few minutes. Obviously, I'm not going to write you a ticket cuz it's not your car. So, >> I'm just getting I was just for a moment. As long as you're fine, you can drive. I mean, people I stuff happens all the time. Where'd you get robbed at, though, >> Orlando? >> Literally, I have cash on me. I'm so annoyed. It was my car, my medical mariju. >> That sucks. >> All right. Well, give me like I don't know 5 minutes and then I'll have you on your way. Okay. >> All right. Thank you. >> Yep. Why is this doing nothing? Come on. >> Uh, what's your middle name? What's your middle name? >> No. >> No. All right. Spell your first name again just so I have it spelled right. >> T A T I A N. >> Oh, two Ns. That's what I missed. You said you have a Florida license. Okay. 114 of 1992. All right. I was spelling it wrong. That's why I was being dumb. All right. My bad. Give me a second. I'll be right back. >> Well, I mean, I'm not getting ticketed. Can we just >> Yeah, but I still have to put the information into the computer for the traffic stop. That's all. >> Officers followed protocol, asking for license and registration, verifying her identity. The woman didn't have her documents and only offered a name. That alone wasn't suspicious, but it was worth noting. For now, things remained calm. The officers stayed patient, professional, and in control. Okay. So, be honest, cuz I'm trying to be nice here. Do you have Do you actually have a license? >> Okay. I will be honest. I hear this >> obviously. You have a license, >> huh? >> I have a license. A T H Y A South D A L C A R D E L. >> Okay. Birthday >> October 11th, 2000. >> 2000. Oh my goodness. All right. All right. Come here for a second. I got to show you something. >> What? >> Just come here. >> Come here so I can show you what I got to show you. >> A photo. All right. Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. Don't Don't >> stay in the car. Stay in the car. Don't move. >> Don't move. I'm tired of you lying. >> That's >> Why are you lifting me? Stop moving. >> I'm not okay. I'm That's not your name. >> Why are you What do you mean? Ow. Ow. Ow. Wait. Why are you handcuffing me? >> Because you're lying to me. >> I'm not lying. >> That's handcuffing her. Stop. >> Because she lied to me about her name twice. >> I just looked up that photo and that's not you at all. >> No, it's not. >> Yeah, it is. >> No, it's not. We call her mom. >> Sir, call my mom. No, call my mom right now. >> Yeah. Yeah, that's not you. >> It is her car. >> I admit it to your mom. >> You're lying. >> Okay, >> let's go. >> Brown, please. >> No, you're you lied to me too much. >> No, there's one time on purpose. Please, can I stop? >> Can you call my mom, please? >> I'm not calling nobody. Get in the car. This is bad. >> But when she lied a second time, the situation shifted from a simple stop to a potential felony. Giving false information to police is serious. It made officers suspect she had something bigger to hide. Even after being cuffed, she kept denying everything and refused to cooperate when given the chance. >> No. Stop. You're pushing me. Stop. Stop pushing me. >> Stop pushing me. >> Get in the car. >> 82, step it up now. >> Okay. I don't want this. >> Get in the car. I'm going to get in the car. Get in the car. >> Okay, >> I'm getting in the car. Okay, >> get in. >> I'm getting in. >> I'm getting in. >> Wait, can you get my phone, please? >> Close. Move your legs. >> So, I pulled the driver out cuz she's been lying to me about her name. I told her to come back with me and then she started pulling away and I'm like, "No." And I told her to get in the car and she didn't want to. And she gives me a name and a date of birth and says she has a Florida license and I look it up and there's no record found. I had called dispatch on the phone. She ran through all 50 states and she got a similar to the name but nothing else. So I go back up and ask her and then she's like, "Well, I was scared so I lied." And she gives me >> uh this lady. So this is her car. Yeah. >> She afford it. >> She just moved. She said, >> "So, >> she just moved?" >> Yeah. That look like the same person to you? >> No. >> What's your real name? You don't know your real name. You can go to the jail under figure out that way. >> I don't know why this is happening right now. >> Because you're lying. >> I admitted to what I said and >> that's not your real name. >> Okay, you can just go to jail. You're going to take me to process cuz you don't believe me. >> No, I was going to take you once you lied to me the second time. The first time I was going to just let it slide, but now the second time you're still lying. I'm not letting that situation. >> It is. So, if you want to tell me your real name, but if not, then that's fine. We can play these games. >> Well, you're not going home. So, keep lying. >> Officers tried to give her space, tried to keep things light, but she didn't meet them halfway. She kept changing her story, then begged for forgiveness. It was a mix of panic and inconsistency that only raised more red flags. By now, they had every reason to demand the truth. >> You don't have to call your mom. You're an adult. >> I can't see New York's records. All it tells us is that your driving privilege is suspended, which means I can't let you drive. >> So, I have to get home. >> If you have towing on your insurance, you could >> call them. If not, then I'm going to call our tow company. >> No, I Geico does have that. >> Okay. I would get started on that. >> Okay. You can give me a ticket. You can give me anything, but I don't want to go to jail. Please. Officer Brown, police, can you hear me? I can't do this. My life is going to be over. Please. >> There are things called comp. >> I you verified so many different times. >> I did verify that. I told you I like I explained. >> I want to call my mom. >> It's okay. No. No. This >> I want to call you. >> You don't have the right to to >> You can't refuse this. >> What right do I have? >> Not the right to counsel or to call your mom. We're just trying to verify your that you are who you say you are. >> Yes. So, you need to get out. >> I don't want to do this. Go >> ahead and step out. >> You have to. I will grab you and make you get out. I'm >> saying you don't want to, but we need to verify your identity. >> So, If you want some leeway here, you need to follow what I'm saying. >> All my information is right. >> You don't even know your social. >> How old are you? >> What point? Most 18year-olds know your social. Most kids, you don't even know your step out for me. >> I don't want to do it. >> Well, you have no choice. >> Why don't I have a choice? >> Stop it. Why are you stoping? Please stop. Please stop. Just >> stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. >> I don't feel comfortable. Please stop. >> Well, then just relax and it'll be >> You're holding me tight. I don't know why. And I've already holding you. >> Please let go of me. >> Please let go. >> Stop moving. >> She was asked to step out so they could scan her fingerprints. One last attempt to confirm who she really was. But instead, she fought back hard. In the scuffle, she kicked two officers, forcing them to restrain her for everyone's safety. >> Wake up. What are you DOING TO ME? STOP. Stop in charge. >> STOP IT. STOP IT. STOP. LEAVE ME ALONE. GET OFF OF ME. >> You're going to GET SPRAYED. >> STOP. [screaming] STOP. STOP. STOP. GET OFF OF ME. NO. NO. LET ME GO. STOP. I SAID NO. I said no. I don't want to. Leave me alone. >> You're going to get sprayed. >> Get off of me. Why am I going to be pepper sprayed? Leave me alone. >> Get off me. >> Open your hand. >> Get off of me. No. Listen, I understand you're intoxicated right now. >> I can smell the alcohol in your breath. >> I'm not intoxicated. >> Okay, then relax your hand. >> You've already kicked me. You already got a drawing charge for battery law. Stop. >> Relax your hand RIGHT NOW. >> STOP. YOU'RE HURTING ME. YOU'RE HURTING ME. STOP IT. YOU'RE HURTING ME. STOP. >> RELAX YOUR HEAD. >> LET GO OF ME. >> LET GO OF ME. Let go of me. Let go of me. >> Let go of me. LET GO OF ME. Let go of me. Let go of me. >> You're making this way worse. >> You're hurting ME SO BAD. YOU'RE hurting me so bad. Let me go. The >> jail's going to do this, too. So, either do it now or do it at the jail. >> Let go of me. I did not pick you and don't go. My mom. >> What's your mom going to say? >> Let me TAKE YOUR FINGERPRINT. >> GET OFF OF ME. STOP. STOP. >> RELAX. >> STOP. WHY ARE YOU FORCING ME? >> Because you're going to have to do this after not kick ME AGAIN. >> THAT'S not [laughter] hurting me. [screaming] Let me go. >> She is on a flood. 11494. >> How can you do that to people? >> Cuz you were still lying about your name. Look at that. So that's two felony charges. >> Yep. to lie to a police officer. So there you go. And to kick. >> So yes, ma'am. You kicked me twice. >> No, I did not kick you. >> Uh, last name is Flood. F L O D. >> No, I did not. >> F L O O D. >> I did not. >> Tatiana. T A T >> Andy. I'm resisting. >> I a >> Why? I'm already on the resisting. >> Eventually, she was booked into jail and hit with multiple charges. Assaulting an officer, giving false info to law enforcement, and resisting arrest. She ended up serving two days behind bars. These charges can come with fines, jail time, and probation. On June 3rd, 2024, police arrived at the scene after receiving reports that a woman and her husband refused [music] to leave a property. When officers arrived, the woman remained inside her car and refused to cooperate, forcing [music] police to intervene and take control. >> Get out of the car now. Get out OF THE CAR NOW. GET OUT OF THE CAR. >> I HAVE A BRAIN INJURY. >> YOU'RE UNDER ARREST. >> Get out of the car now. >> I have a brain injury. >> Get out OF THE CAR NOW. >> I WAS ON THE PHONE. >> Get out of the car. >> Make me move. I HAVE A BRAIN INJURY. >> GET OUT OF THE CAR NOW. I WILL PEPPER SPRAY YOU. I WILL PEPPER spray you. Get out of the car. >> I HAVE SOFT BRAIN. >> GET OUT OF THE CAR NOW. >> SOFT BRAIN. I HAVE SOFT BRAIN. I have soft brain. Get out of the car now. You're under arrest. DAD. DAD. >> GET OUT OF THE CAR NOW. >> DAD. DAD. DAD. DAD. [screaming] >> I HAVE A BRAIN INJURY. >> You're going to get two seconds. Let go. Let go. Let go OF THE STEERING WHEEL. >> DAD. I HAVE A BRAIN INJURY. THESE COPS ARE HURTING ME. [screaming] >> Don't turn. Don't turn. My shoulder's broken. >> Bone turn. >> Stay on your stomach. >> Don't kick. HEY, BONE KICK. BONE KICK. >> MY SHOULDER'S BROKEN. OW. [screaming] OW. STOP. STOP. >> HEY. >> STOP. I need my phone. My dad's on the phone. >> My dad. >> We will help you. >> My dad. My dad. >> My dad's on the phone. I need help. >> Don't kick me. Don't kick me. >> [screaming] >> She's bleeding. >> OH, I HAVE A HEAD INJURY. I HAVE AN ANEURISM. DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT? >> This is abuse. >> Okay. >> This is abuse. >> Stop abuse. >> He's right here. >> No. >> I don't want to get your blood on over me. [screaming] >> My hand. Even after being handcuffed, the woman kept resisting and deliberately caused difficulties for the officers. Her constant complaints and refusal to cooperate, even after being restrained, reflected a stubborn mindset, unwilling to accept reality. She was later taken to jail and faced multiple charges, including resisting arrest, assaulting an officer, disorderly conduct, and trespassing. Just one day earlier in the same area, a bar employee had also been arrested in an emotional breakdown after stealing a purse and refusing to return it. And this is what happened next. >> I was with my co-workers. They were celebrating my last day. That was last night. I'm a new rep for Southern Glac. We were just going out to celebrate my last date and some drunk really old lady talking to me. He leaves. One of my co-workers points out her bag is there. I grab it out of good faith. Um, we're celebrating. I leave. You guys give us a call. My manager gives us a call. We come right back. >> Okay. So, what was the So, what what did you intend when you say good faith? Like, what what do you mean by that? I was just like, "Oh, this lady this lady left her bag. She's telling me all this stuff about Oh, my ex left me all this stuff. She's at the bar by herself. >> I'm trying to be friendly." >> Now, let me ask you this. Um, did you try to make an attempt to anybody that works at the Warframe? This person left the purse here. >> No, sir. I didn't. >> Why not? >> I just I didn't think about it. I just I didn't I didn't think we I I'm just not thinking of the course of action. So, >> okay. So, if you were to go back to that situation, >> what would you have done different? >> I would have not even touched the bag, I would have been like, "Oh, that's her." And I would have just left. So what I'm trying to get as don't you think it's a little bit >> it would have been better for you as you if you would have just asked the bartender who was in front of you right when the when the purse is taken what was where did you take the purse from? >> Absolutely. I wouldn't have even touched I wouldn't have associated myself with the bag at all. I I have no intention. I work at Bodega. I work at Light Life. I I understand. >> The footage showed a stark contrast in the suspect's behavior. While she appeared cooperative by answering questions, her body language and words were full of contradictions. What seemed like a good faith explanation was quickly dismissed by the officers when she herself admitted she never intended to return the purse. >> So, what happened? You walked outside and what happened? >> I I walked outside. We We dropped off one of our co-workers at home. We get the call, him and I. He He's like, "Oh, um, why are they giving us this car?" And I was like, "Oh, I have this lady's bag." And he's like, "Oh, [ __ ] you have her bag? And I'm like, yeah, I have her bag. And then we were like, oh [ __ ] let's go back. And we drove. >> So, what were you going to do after with the bag if you didn't you didn't tell anybody? You don't know the person, right? You don't know the person. >> No, I don't know her name. >> You Okay. So, how would you have given her or given her the opportunity to get her stuff back? You said you were trying to do the right thing, but that there was never an intent or there was never a motion for you to return the purse. And they wouldn't have been because you don't know the lady. You had already gone. You didn't look for her. You literally grabbed the bag. So there was no attempt whatsoever from your end to try to get this person the the bag. Even someone >> actions outside of the the war for the club are different. >> But as I'm in the club, somebody points out the bag and I'm like, "Oh [ __ ] she left it on the and I'm sure this is clear in the security footage or whatever that lady tried to explain to me. I'm saying one of my co-workers points out the bag on the chair and I'm like, "Oh, I hold on to the bag." >> Okay. >> And then we happen to leave. Like the the >> How long did it take you from the time that you saw the bag and grabbed it to the time we left? How long was that? Oh, I I have no I >> if you were to get it >> if I had if I to give it a a a personal like just estimate. I grabbed the bag. We hung out. We left that was I I'd say like >> police asked direct questions to clarify the suspect's true intentions, especially highlighting the 15 to 20 minutes in which she could have returned the purse but chose not to. The contradiction was clear. On one side, emotional crying. On the other, her admission that she made no effort to give the property back. >> No. >> Did you ever make contact with anybody that works in the warf to see if they can find out who she was? >> No. >> Okay. Um, did you make any other attempt whatsoever to return this purse other than just walking out with it? >> No, sir. >> I I So, you understand how that looks bad though, right? It looks like I'mma grab this bag cuz I have the opportunity. I'm going to make no attempt at returning it. Even though I think I'm doing something good, but I'm making absolutely zero attempt for me to find this person or give it to somebody that can find her for me. And then you had no way of contacting her. So, there was no way you ever get ever going to return to her because you have no idea who she is. You understand what I'm saying? >> I understand. >> Okay. Is there anything else that you like to say? >> No. No. >> Well, I spoke to her and she's very upset. to rest for a grand. Would you mind turning around for me? Please screw your stuff down. >> Come here. Just relax. >> Yeah. >> Listen, it's not the end of the world, okay? I don't believe you're a hardened criminal, but at the end of the day, you made no attempt to return that purse. Okay? >> And in your own words, you had about 20 to 25 minutes. I mean, 15 to 20 minutes to return it, and you never even made an attempt to return it. Okay? So, and you have no way of getting contact with her. So, it's hard for me to believe that you would have returned that to her. You understand? That's why you're >> When the suspect admitted she never intended to return the purse, her actions went far beyond simply finding it and were officially considered a crime. Right after she was handcuffed and placed in the patrol car at that moment, the woman panicked, burst [music] into tears, and kept begging to speak to her parents. >> Uh, is he your boyfriend or somebody? >> Did you want >> Okay. Would you like him to grab your stuff or you want to take your stuff with you? >> I want to take my stuff. >> You want his stuff? Everything that you have on you, your sunglasses, >> my parents are coming. >> Your parents are coming. >> Okay, so we'll wait and give it to them. Is that okay with you? >> Please. Okay, >> we'll do that. You have no problem with that. >> Oh my god. >> Go ahead and take a seat over here for me. >> You can jump in. >> I >> Okay, no, that's fine. Just lean against it. Just >> walk me. You don't have anything on you at all? >> No, it's fine. Okay, >> relax. It's okay. >> Turn the AC off, breathe. >> Why are you going to do this? >> Yeah, cuz I need to I need to talk to my partner. >> What? I'm saying how do I even like >> Just take one step. You could use both of your feet to step on the on the floorboard. Yeah. and then just kind of >> in the end the woman was taken to jail and charged with grand theft. The punishment for these charges could include fines, imprisonment, or both, depending on the seriousness and local law. On December 3rd, 2024, police received a report about the presence of a woman named Jessica who was wanted. They quickly arrived to execute the arrest warrant, but when the encounter took place, the situation was far from simple. Oh, they live in a junkyard. Cool. Look at that sweet CRV. A separate unit upstairs. >> Back door. >> Yeah, he's right. What's up? >> What's up? >> Jessica in there. >> Jessica, >> the only people that I know is here >> is all dudes. So, >> no Jessica. >> There's no females in here. >> Somebody called and said she's here. >> Well, I'll tell you what. I've been here for >> This is my nephew's house. I've been here for I don't know, 3 hours. There's no female here that I've seen. >> Is your nephew here? >> My nephew? >> Yeah. Definitely. He's here. Mikey, >> could we talk to him? >> I mean, I asked him, you know, he's kind of slow. >> Okay. >> You know what I'm saying? But that's why I came out to speak to you. >> Uh, >> if we could ask him, that'd be great. >> I mean, I'll go ask you for you, but he's scared. You know, y'all, he's slow mentally challenged. Okay. You know what I mean? >> Sweet. Thanks. >> Yeah. I don't know. No, Jessica. >> You know what I mean? >> Okay. >> But I'll find out for you. >> Okay. I appreciate it. >> Let me in, Mikey. My ass. I've been here for since probably about seven. >> What's your first name? >> What's my first name? >> Listen, I I'm on parole. You're I'd rather not have no police contact, but my nephew's mentally challenged. I'm Billy Kennedy. >> Got my ID somewhere on >> You're Billy? >> I'm Billy. I'm Bobby's ass twin. What's up, man? >> Yeah, but you know, this is my nephew's house. >> Okay. >> Uh, >> is he going to come to the door so we can talk to him? >> I mean, probably not. Scared death. You know what I mean? >> So, you know what I mean? I'm not trying to downgrade anyone here. >> You look like a dude on chips. [laughter] >> I don't try to that they're doing. >> I mean, why ain't nobody contact you? >> I'm asking you right now is what I'm saying. You're hard to find. >> Not hard to find. I got an address. >> Is this >> I'm on parole. >> Is this your address? >> No, it's not my address. >> Exactly. >> Right. So, you're not at your address? >> Have you went to my address looking for me? >> Have I? No, personally. >> Has anybody? >> I don't know. >> Absolutely not. >> She did not directly confront the police, but used another person as a shield. All of Billy's statements were meant to mislead as he kept insisting there was no woman inside the house and spun a complicated story about his nephew. The exchange quickly grew tense between Billy and the officers. >> Now, talk, you know, whoever we want to talk about. How can they come? >> You got a number? I can have him call you. >> Absolutely. You should have text, but I don't carry a phone, man. My pro knows that. >> You don't have a phone? >> I have a text dial number you can text to and I'll look at it and see >> what detective >> I don't know. >> Anthony James Anthony wants it. >> Yeah. I don't >> nothing. >> Who's that? Come back. >> I ain't done nothing. Hands down, buddy. You hear me? Look at me. >> I hear I'm I don't know what it's referenced, >> right? >> But somebody put somebody up the door on something. >> Let me talk. Whoever the detective was, I thought he was smart enough to catch the lie like I did. >> Let me get Let me get a hold of the detective. >> He's kind of mentally uh >> Yeah, but we I understand that we want to ask him a couple questions. >> I just told you I've been over here for two days. >> I'm not here to lie to you. >> Appreciate that. >> I have not ran into anybody over this house named Jessica or anything like that. >> There's no females in here. >> The only female that I've seen here >> was my niece. And what's her name? >> That's it. >> What's her name? >> Your Anna. That's it. >> Doesn't matter. I don't know. But that's irrelevant. >> Can I talk to you? >> Anna's not here now. >> Okay. She's not here now. >> No. I thought yesterday I ran into >> You know, I have no idea. I don't even know who this girl. I never seen your name, ma'am. >> I have no idea. >> Jessica, you got a warrant. Okay. >> I don't know. >> I have my thing on though. >> No, you've got a couple active warrants. >> I don't know why. >> Because you have warrants. Please drop that cigarette. Okay. >> Please drop the cigarette. Please drop the cigarette. >> Drop it. Please drop the cigarette. Okay. >> I'll tell you give me more information. Okay. >> I'm sorry. Together. >> Who else is in the house? Jessica, >> officer. Like I can you tell me why? >> I thought I thought you were serving me with my indictment for like got a couple warrants out of some account. >> For what? >> Something that happened this morning. Maybe. >> I haven't even been up >> for yesterday. >> I haven't even been awake. >> I don't know. >> I've been sick. Yes, we do anything we want. >> After being exposed, her mindset shifted to fear and defensive reflexes when faced with the consequences. Her repeated action of putting her hand into her pocket was an unconscious behavior, showing she was trying to hide something or looking for a chance to get rid of it. >> I have a lighter something in your pocket. Okay. >> No, I'm I know I don't have anything illegal. I'm saying >> Okay, that's what he's asking. >> In my pocket. What pocket might there be something? >> What pocket? >> Is there any needles? Is there Okay. >> No, no, no. >> Anything in this pocket? >> No. >> What pocket are you curious about? >> No. I'm just saying I might have like a lighter or something. Yes. If I had anything in my pocket. >> Anything in this pocket? >> Can I talk to >> Jessica? What What is this? >> Oh, that's not definitely not mine. Oh my god. No. That's not mine. >> Okay. >> Who is it? >> Is it Billy's? >> All right. >> He didn't know you were here. >> Oh my god. >> The court of law. You have the right to talk to a lawyer and have him or her present with you while you're being questioned. If you cannot afford [laughter] to hire a lawyer, one will be appointed representing for any questioning. If you wish, you can decide anytime to exercise these rights, not answer any questions or make any statements. You understand these rights? I've read to you. I'm sure it's not the first time this has been read to you. Correct. >> No, this is the second time. I've never even been these rights of mine. Uh, can you talk to me and tell me what this is so I don't have to open it and possibly expose myself to fentanyl and >> Oh, no. It's it it's method. >> It's meth. Thank you. I appreciate you. Thank you. >> All right. Perfect. So, we're going to have a seat in my cruiser. Um, we're going to send these hits. >> Can I hit my cigarette? >> Yeah. You know what? You You were cool with me. I'm going to give you your cigarette. Okay. >> Okay. Do you know how long that's been? >> Do you have a lighter? >> There's got to be one one of these cruisers. I'm sure there is. >> I know that they have one, too. Goodness, my jacket. But >> no, I got you. Anything in the jacket we need to be worried about? >> I mean, I'm good without it if as long as we're I'm going in the car, right? >> Yeah. >> I'd rather not take it. >> Okay. >> I was done. >> Damn it. I didn't I was walking and I I grabbed it. I I grabbed it on the way down to the floor. >> What the uh >> police anticipated the suspect's behavior and acted in time. Her admission about possessing drugs did not come from honesty, but from knowing she no longer had any way to deny it. >> I'm sorry. I I didn't know that I I guess the charge of me was what? Active war. >> You have a warrant and you have the math. Um do you have anything else illegal on you they're going to find in jail on the scanner? >> But the active warrant is for intimidation or something. I don't even know what it is on. >> I know, honey. I just want to tell you I didn't know this is not legit. I did not do [ __ ] You know, I've been going to my appointments, everything. So, I just want you to know like I didn't know about this [ __ ] >> I I think you're a liar. >> It is what it is. >> He's scared now. >> No, I didn't know about this [ __ ] man. >> They know damn well I didn't know. He's got the whole issues and he there a lot of them have been telling him I don't even want to be here. Okay. You think I want to be in this area? >> I'm here because I have nowhere else to go. I rented a room. I literally ran in a room. >> Jessica, I need you to spit that out. Okay. >> Take a couple hits on it. >> Take what you need and then it's going to have to go out. >> Other thing you said, >> well, you you got a couple warrants and then you you got the meth. >> Um, we're going to send hits on the warrants. >> I think they're out of Summit County. If they don't want you, they don't want you. I'll give you a summon for the meth. If they want you, you have to go and we have no >> So, I could possibly get out. If Summit County does not want you, >> okay, >> you may not go, but >> you got sent out here. We'll see. >> Hey, I'm going to we got to send the hit and it's like 20 minutes to wait and then I'll let you know what I know. I'm not going to lie to you. I've been honest with you and since the beginning, I couldn't remember if that was in my pocket or not cuz when I walk down, honest, you guys scared the [ __ ] out of me. >> Jessica, it's a minor drug charge in Summit County. It's not the end of the world. It's paperwork at this point. Okay. >> But I got we got to do what we got to do. Okay. >> Yeah. I'm just being honest with you. I'll be honest with you. >> I just I I used to do drugs. I don't do them anymore. >> The officers maintained professionalism, reassured the woman, and explained each step of the process clearly, thereby ensuring the legality of the arrest. Even though she was handcuffed, Jessica still refused to take responsibility, continuing to make excuses and trying to convince others that she was the real victim. >> Warrants were already confirmed. They're good. But I said that she kindly turned herself in with meth and she'll be going on that I assume. I guess I assume >> bro I wouldn't have recognized her. >> No, she looks way different. >> That's why I had that's why I had to laugh look at her or ask her her name. >> Um, anyone else going or is she a >> Okay. All right. walk and then just one stolen vehicle might be >> well I ran out I ran that van which belongs here and this one's okay >> the plate from this one stolen >> I know it's going to go in tomorrow at 8:30 any of you guys here >> yeah they want you >> the other officer already confirmed it Right. >> They want you for your arrest, dear. That's I mean, I can't do anything about that. >> How did she get away with that? >> That's something you're going to have to take care of in court. >> In the end, the woman was arrested, taken to jail, and charged with drug possession, as well as an outstanding warrant for witness intimidation. She now faces sentencing for both crimes. Punishment could include imprisonment, probation, or a combination of both depending on state law and the severity of the offenses. On April 20th, 2025, [music] police were dispatched to a home after a 911 call reported domestic violence. What started as a fight between a woman and her husband had turned the house into a powder keg. And just when another officer arrived on scene, the situation took a turn no one saw coming. You >> are trying to go to the emergency room. Can you help? >> Okay. What's going on? My husband cracked my head on the floor and I'm trying to get up there to admit myself. >> Okay. All right. Well, just hang tight because that's what we're trying to investigate what happened over there at the house. >> Can you put your hand right here and feel it for me? He knocked me on the floor and I've got a big big knot on my neck on not my neck on my head right here. >> And I'd like to go to the hospital. >> Okay. Okay. Well, you're going to sit tight until we figure out what's going on. I might just drive away and go. >> If you drive away, then you'll be >> Yeah. What? Then what? You're going to help me go to the hospital, aren't you? Because I'm a medical patient. What are you? >> I'm going to drive away. >> Really? Really? I've been driving all this time and I've been just fine. >> Well, now that you're stopped out with me, you're not going to drive. >> You've decided. You've decided. >> Yes, I have. >> Yeah. Great. >> So, put the car in park and we're going to figure out what's going on. >> Really? What do you know about what's going on? Nothing. >> So, I want to get your side of the story cuz we have deputies at your house. Yeah. Okay. But you come on hot and angry and mean. You're not getting my side of the story. You're another >> No. Angry. >> You are. YOU'RE THAT WAY, TOO. ALL OF YOU people are. >> You're the one who's the yelling. >> You That's right. Because of how you are. >> How How am I? What did I do? >> Yeah. You're an [ __ ] >> Okay. >> Yeah. Okay. Okay, lady. Okay. Okay. Bark. Bark. Bark. Empty. Empty. Yes, you are. Stop it. Go in and turn your car off for me. >> I think I just broke the holder. >> Oh, she's feisty. >> She says I'm an [ __ ] We're all the same. Uh, she's driving to the hospital. >> They're on the way right now for you. >> Who? >> Paramedics. >> Paramedics are on their way. >> Thank you very much. >> Do you feel lightheaded? What are your complaints? I have a crushing pain in the back of my head from where my head was banged onto the tile. >> Are you talking about me? Cuz I wasn't there. >> No, I'm just talking about the police in general. I'm I'm just talking. I can say what I want. >> Mr. K. >> That's right. So, you can No, that's fine. I don't care about being nice to you. >> From the start, officers stayed calm and professional, doing everything they could to deescalate and make sure the woman got medical care if needed. But she flat out refused to cooperate, showing emotional instability and defiance from the very first minutes. >> I don't want to. I don't need you telling me what I can and can't do. I will leave. >> Well, I will tell you this. You cannot leave. >> I'm not leaving because I know about you. Your guns. >> Got it. >> Well, my gun has nothing to do with it, but you're being detained right now. >> That's the only reason I'm not leaving. That's it. Police guns. That's it. I want to get up to the emergency room and get the treatment I need. >> Do you feel lightheaded or dizzy? >> I hurt in the back of my head. >> So, it just hurts. >> I've been getting concussion block things in my eyes off and on. Yeah. Lightaded. I'm not even out of the car walking. I grab my bag. I was shaking like a leaf. I get into the car and I drove until I figured out that this was where I needed to be. Look like someone who has guns, not me. Don't ask stupid question. >> We do have guns. >> It's for safety reasons, man. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Cuz you're being kind of feisty. >> I'm angry and you're nasty and you should just go away. >> Just go. >> We can't leave, >> you know. Just shut up then. Just shut up. >> Do you mind if I check you for weapons? >> You know what? I have no choice. And it doesn't matter whether I lying. So stop with the [ __ ] games. You want to check me for weapons. Check me for weapons. >> You think I'm a liar? You think I'm a liar? Oh, you've just wanted me all along to take off my belt cuz that's what you told me to begin with. >> Can you step outside, please? >> I DON'T HAVE WEAPONS. >> I'm just going to pat you down. >> I'm just wanting the passers by to know. >> Do not put your hand in my face. >> Don't do that to me either, then. Okay. See, do not see. But you did it to me, too. >> There's no reason for you to get feisty right now. >> Hey, hey, you don't know my husband. OKAY, STOP IT. >> I NEED YOU to relax. >> YEAH, >> RELAX. >> YEAH, that's all I wanted to do. >> Yeah, I'm in my pajamas because I didn't even make it past bed and he pushed me on the ground. Okay. And nobody is taking care of me. So, DON'T START GONNA YELL AT YOU ALL. HER WORDS made it clear she knew she was being detained. [music] Yet, she kept pushing back. As her resistance grew louder and more hostile, the danger level spiked. Police had no choice but to prepare for force. Not to punish her, but to protect everyone involved. >> You be careful what you do with me from now on. >> Do you want to step out so the paramedics can take a look at you? >> Really? Okay. First, I couldn't get out. Now I have to get out, [ __ ] >> I need to go to the hospital. >> Okay. >> I need to go to the hospital now. >> Get back over here with us and we'll we'll get you over there. >> Okay. Where are we going? >> You to the hospital cuz you want to go to the hospital. Correct. >> Well, yeah, but the hospital's over there. >> But our car is over there. >> Yeah. You're not going to be driving. >> I need my purse. >> We'll grab that for you. Grab your purse. We're going to grab >> I'll wait until you get my purse. I don't want to walk past and not have access to my things and have someone take them from me. >> I don't trust any of you. I want my purse. I want MY PURSE. WHY AM I BEING WHY AM I BEING ARRESTED for wanting MY PURSE? I WANT TO KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING. I want TO KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING TO ME AND WHY. I HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW. WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO me and why? >> Stop yelling. We will tell. >> What are you DOING AND WHY? WHAT have I done? WHAT HAVE I DONE? WHAT HAVE I DONE? WHAT ARE YOU CHARGING ME WITH? WHAT ARE YOU CHARGING ME? I'm a woman at the hospital emergency room trying to get service AND YOU ARE ARRESTING ME FOR NO GODDAMN GOOD REASON. YOU TELL ME YOU'RE taking me to the hospital. What is this? >> This is not getting ME MEDICAL SERVICE. >> MY NAME IS DEPUTY. OKAY. >> UH-HUH. >> I'm here to talk to you about it. >> Great. Great. >> Okay. Are you going to be reasonable? Cuz nobody has so far. >> I'm going to be reasonable with you. >> Great. Great. Let's try it. I need my pants up. God damn it. Could you ask her? It's too tight. I cannot talk with it hurting me. No, I can't. No. Wait until it hurts. It hurts on my left wrist. You have to stop that. I won't talk to anybody while you're putting me in pain. >> You know what? I'm reporting pain to you and you're insisting while you're putting it tighter that it's not hurting. It's locked, ma'am. It can't get any. >> I'm not speaking to any of you. You're not listening to me. We're done. Take me to >> The woman's anger never let up. She twisted the truth, threw out illogical claims, and clung to excuses that had no basis in reality. It was classic denial fueled by resentment and a refusal to face the facts. >> You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in the court of law. >> No, you got to have the right to talk to a lawyer. [laughter] Question. If you have to afford to hire a lawyer how mad I am at every single one of you if you wish you can decide to exercise rights at any time and not answer question statements. Do you understand your rights I read to you? >> I've heard it all before. I know it all. I'm 68 years old. >> Do you understand his rights? >> What rights? >> The ones that you think I have rights. Since when have the police ever treated anybody like they have? What happened? >> Between your husband. >> Between my husband and I. I woke up this morning >> and I was upset. I was in tears when I woke up in bed from a nightmare. This has been happening in my life with this man for years and I have been trying to get him to stop. >> Okay. >> Okay. We've been going through counseling. He says he's working on it. We had an incident a couple days ago where he just [ __ ] all over me on the phone about his mother and medical at them and I yelled at him and we went back and forth across the house >> when when we were yelling. >> Yeah, he he pushed me >> and one time I hit you back. It happened. Yeah, it happened. That's what you're asking me, right? >> Listen to what I'm trying to say. Okay. So, when you were standing in the room, right? He came in there to say sorry to you, right? And then he told you he's packing up and going to my house. >> Did you follow him to the master bedroom? >> Of course. That's what he wanted me to do. And then he followed me and then I followed him and we're back and forth across the house. >> You guys were in the master bedroom. What happened to you? >> He's getting clothes on and I stood in the door talking to him and he pushed me out of the way to go out into the other room and I said, "You think maybe I should call the police because you want to finish? I want to finish. Which one is it going to be? >> Finish." But you're going to have to ask some questions while you're doing that. >> Yeah. >> So, at what point, how did he get red marks on your back and on shoulder? >> I don't know how he got any marks on his back and shoulder. I have no idea. I know exactly how I got a big bump on my head. I was following him while he was screaming into the back into the study to hide from what he'd done. >> And he turned around and pushed me onto the floor and closed the door in my >> But once she was cuffed and calmed down, her story started to shift. She tried to justify her actions, saying her husband had been bullying her. Still in explaining herself, she accidentally admitted she was the one who struck him first. >> You guys with the guns exactly, I just want you to know who you are serving. Not me. You are not helping me. None of you people are helping me. Not a single person here is a public servant. You're going to leave your legs in your car or take you to the hospital. >> Really? But if you would have left me alone, I could have gone there on my own. >> I'm not going to leave you alone because you're now you're under arrest. Right. Because my husband's an [ __ ] and you're all working for him. You're all working FOR HIM. >> GOD DAMN YOU. TO THE JAIL. >> You're going to be getting cleared and then we're going straight to jail after. >> No, I'm not going to jail. I am not going to jail. >> Let's make this easy for us. >> Get checked out or not. >> Let's make it easy. I will kill myself if you want to jail. >> You want to get checked out? >> I won't move from here if you are going to put me to get checked out. Yes or no? You want to get checked out? >> Okay. You know what? You have no idea what Give me my purse. >> CALM DOWN. >> LIARS. I WAS PROMISED I WOULD HAVE MY PURSE ME. >> Not a threat. >> Oh, it is. That's exactly what it is. You're threatening me. >> Not a threat there, Chris. >> That's exactly what it is. It's a threat. That's why you're telling me it's a threat. I'm just warning you so you don't get tased at the jail. >> A tough threat. >> It's a warning. We don't want you to get tased. >> Oh, really? You really care about me and you want to convince me of that now, huh? >> You don't give a [ __ ] >> You want your double cuffs on? I said, "Get lost to my gas station." >> Okay. >> No, no, no, no, no. Not yet. >> Officers handled it professionally, separating both parties to gather information independently. It didn't take long to spot the inconsistencies in Gail's story. First, she said she was assaulted, then claimed she was just there to buy cigarettes. Her erratic behavior raised even more red flags. Given the serious nature of her accusation, officers had no choice but to [music] keep her at the scene for further investigation. >> Exactly. >> So, what did you come over here for tonight? >> To get cigarettes cuz he just opened to give him money. >> Say, "Hey, welcome small business. Welcome back that you're open." >> Uhhuh. >> And right away he attacked me. >> He attacked you. Okay. >> Look at the videapes. >> What videotapes does he have? Still, Gail faces charges for resisting a law enforcement officer after refusing commands and physically struggling with police. She could also be prosecuted for disorderly conduct and harassment. Depending on local laws, her penalties may include fines, probation, or even jail time. On July 27th, 2025, chaos broke out at the airport. Police rushed in after reports of a violent domestic fight. Right there in the middle of a crowded terminal, what should have been just another trip instantly spiraled into a public scene no one could ignore. >> Checkpoint for a little minute. They call us for a reason, right? >> Conversation trying to >> girlfriend. Why are you talking? >> Okay. So, he nothing happened. I just I know she's in our feelings right now. I just want her to know the severity of like we're in the airport. She has my bag. I want to get my bag and we're both going to the same place. We were seated together. >> We were staying together. >> We were seated together. >> Oh, I'm not sure because we were supposed to be gone a long time ago, right? So now we're just sitting in the airport. >> So you tell me the heat. Did you lay hands on her? >> No, it's nothing like that. >> She didn't lay hands on you. Sure. No pushing, no hitting, >> none of that. Just just verbally. >> Hello. Hi. So, we're in a relationship. I will no longer mess with him or what he had going on. He had some stuff in my in his bag. I just need to get out of my bag. My iPad, some clothes. I took it out, put it in my suitcase, brought his bag back. That's pretty much it. But we have a relationship, you know, kind of kind of thing going on right now. But yeah, exactly. But I brought his bag back. I took all of my belongings out. I would leave him alone. You don't have to worry about me. I have a flight coming and go for myself. Like I said, I'm on the phone right now. I have all of my belongings, but you don't have to worry about me while I'm in the airport with him at all. I just had to get my ID on your name and boarding pass by chance. >> Yeah. Do you need my ID for what if I'm if you're asking a possible assault? >> Assault? Oh, Christian. So, I assaulted you. I assaulted you. Okay. I'm so sorry. I'm just making sure it's not him that reported. One of the TSA folks report one of the TSA people because I can definitely have evidence of him assaulting me if possible. >> There's cameras everywhere. But like I said, yes, I do. My name is Sha Richardson. I do have >> The woman was quickly identified as Olympic sprinter Sha Richardson. Witnesses said she chased down her boyfriend, blocked his path, and even struck him with an object. Actions that screamed aggression, and lined up perfectly with an assault charge, even though he later downplayed the violence, the video evidence told a very different story. >> Thank you. Hi, Christy. But you hear me, right? So, this is a position that Christian called me. Okay. because he's a coward and I don't want anything to do with him at this point going forward. My name is Sha Richardson. I have no problem with letting you know who I am. Haven't put my hands on him. We had an argument. I will be honest about that. A argument and that's pretty much it. The argument pretty much he's a liar. He lied about a couple things personally, you know, just in a relationship. I I pretty much all dudes can understand what a relationship is about. But he lied. He's a liar. And that was something that I kind of just grasp. And emotionally I'm just like bet you do your thing but you're asking me for things that is within my possession and for my right I don't have to give it to you because it's in my possession. But when it came to the point that I saw that he chose to make it more um about the police and things of that nature that showed that he made a choice. So I just wanted to be more professional and just come professionally and let you guys know like hey relationship thing have no problem walking up to you guys so I'm not right. >> Was there any type of physical? >> No I didn't touch him. I'm here. I'm just >> not my boarding pass. That is public right here. >> Perfect. >> This is my boarding pass. >> So, this is the one that got delayed. >> So, this is I want to say my original one. And then the new one, I think, is in my personal one, but you can take a picture and I'll look for you for the new one if you don't mind me. >> I appreciate it. I appreciate it. >> I don't think I have it, but they move my flight to 10 p.m. if you don't mind. I don't think I just physically have it, but you can take a picture. I don't mind at all. >> The last there. Are you going heading back and forth? >> Yes. No, no, no. I'm heading to um Eugene, Oregon. >> Oh, okay. I can probably find it this way. >> Yeah, you can find it that way. >> It's just just to kind of document. >> No, no, no. Please, please document everything. I have no problem with you. Document anything. And I'm going to do my part so you can do your best. Document everything. Just I will never forget you anymore. It's my mommy. I would never talk to him again. >> At first, she played it cool. She handed over her ID, told cops she had nothing to hide, even encouraged them to record everything. But as soon as she started insisting this was just a lover's quarrel, and named dropping her Olympic status, it became clear she was trying to soften the blow. Trouble is, the evidence was already too solid to brush aside. >> How are you doing, sir? >> Well, doing all right. >> I'm doing good, babe. >> But here's the thing. You got to put that down. Okay, >> but I had to put I'm feel grabbing me right now. >> Yep. Cuz you're under arrest. >> I'm under arrest right now. What am I under arrest for? Christian, are you serious right now? But the fact that your guys are doing this to me and he's the man in this situation, I'm just going to I'm going to complied. I am I'm not going to argue with you at all. But she had me on camera, but at the same time, what he has on camera, I have my phone. Show something different. So if I need to show that, I will. I didn't. Can he tell you that I didn't do nothing to him? >> Christian, are you serious right now? >> All right, Christian. I'm not going to jail because of you right now. You know what? Okay. >> Okay. >> I will never [ __ ] with you again. >> Ever. You got to go this way. Okay, let's go. >> Like hold these like protect like show these or something like this is like completely honest. When we were in a relationship, we had an argument. >> Yeah. >> Are you serious right now? >> Yeah. Unfortunately, you're under state law. Yeah. You're under arrest for assault. >> I'm under arrest for assault right now. Okay. I'm not resisting or anything. >> I feel like I'm not resisting. But I'm not going to jail. >> You are going to jail. >> Who's going to bail me out? >> You can make a phone call when you get there. >> Are you serious right now? >> You're going to have to go see a judge first before that. Correct. And y'all didn't even listen to my side of the story. Y'all just arrested me. Correct. So, I didn't want to hear that part of the story >> because I have proved that. Okay. >> And if everything Okay. I'm not even I'm not I'm not resisting. I just feel like this is >> Her reactions followed a familiar pattern. Denial, shock, bargaining, then clinging to her boyfriend for backup. Cops though weren't swayed. The body cam footage spoke louder than her words. And it didn't lie. >> For the night. You see a jar. >> Do I have money if I can bail out tonight? >> Can I bail out tonight? >> You have to see a jail. >> I have to stay in jail for the night. I don't know numbers by heart. >> When you can you can bring your phone. >> The jail is pretty good about letting you go ahead and say, "Hey, this is the number I need." They'll help facilitate that. Okay. >> Okay. Thank you. Can I bail myself out? >> You got to see a judge first. >> I have to see a judge. Like, I can't even bail myself out. >> Can he say that I wasn't being domestic? She tried to play every last card to delay things. This showed that she still hadn't truly realized the nature of crime. Once the act is done, the consequences are unavoidable. >> No, please. No, no. >> She refused to step into the car, constantly complaining that the handcuffs were too tight. This wasn't only physical discomfort, but also a way of defying authority, a hopeless resistance against an unchangeable reality. Perhaps she was trying to buy time, hoping for some unexpected intervention. >> Like that, please like that. This thing is too tight, too. Please. >> We'll check that out. >> Please, this side is just this side right here. >> Face the car. Face the car. >> I don't have nothing on me. I keep telling you that I don't have nothing on me. The penalties she could face include jail time, a criminal record, and a permanent ban from Target. On February 14th, 2025 [music] in Albuquerque, New Mexico, police arrived at a hotel to execute an arrest warrant for a woman named Marina Perez on robbery charges. But it didn't stop there. Inside the room, they unexpectedly discovered drugs and guns. What seemed like a simple arrest instantly turned [music] into a tense and unpredictable situation. >> Police Department. >> All right. How's it going? Is uh Marina here? >> Yeah. All right. Open the door. >> Hello. >> Hi, Marina. >> Hey, >> Officer Cornado. I need you to step out right now. You're going to be placed under arrest organization. >> I just don't want anything. Where's that gun? I do not feel safe with you in there. You're not free to leave. When officers asked the woman to come out and provide identification, the man with her showed suspicious behavior. Soon after, police discovered drugs and a firearm inside the room. The man immediately fled, forcing officers to chase him, while another officer stayed at the hotel to continue checking the scene. Get on the ground now. >> 82. I'm getting >> Get on the ground, dude. [groaning] 313 and 34. >> ATTENTION INSIDE GROUP 221 THE ALBUQUERQUE POLICE DEPARTMENT. LOCK SOUND MY VOICE AND AIR THREE. CLEAN OF ANY OBJECTS. Um, I explained everything to her. She have any questions about anything? >> Get the dog back or her mom or something like that. Yeah. >> Yeah. Cool. >> Yep. >> There you go. The search was lawful because the drugs and firearm were in plain view, allowing officers to investigate without a warrant. During questioning, the woman denied any connection to the man, but officers used evidence found in the room to refute her, showing she was not being truthful. >> Okay. Um, did you say that you wanted to talk to the officer? >> I mean, I asked him a couple questions. Yeah. >> Okay. So, you understood your rights and you know that at any time you can stop talking. Okay. Um, so right now with your shirt, I want to I want to let you know because we've asked you a bunch of questions. Um, we found some explosive ordinance inside there. Drop down to one knee for me, bro. Drop down to the other knee. Put on your shirt real quick. Keep your hands up, though. Got cuffs up. Yeah. >> Are you injured, sir? >> Yeah. >> Where are you injured? >> Your knee. >> Any weapons on you? >> Nice. Anything that's going to poke, prick, or stab me? No. Okay. Anybody else over there? >> Your feet. for me. The man was arrested after a police drone located him hiding near a dumpster. Even in handcuffs, he kept resisting and arguing, claiming he was innocent and being harassed. He even refused to provide his identity to the officers. What's going on? >> What's your last name? Zav. >> So, me being harassed and not being your last name from you guys or what? >> What's your last name, Xavier? >> Do your job. >> Yeah, we can do this the easy way or the hard way. So, I mean, the longer the longer you do this, you're going to be in handcuffs longer, dude. Until we identify who you are, you're going to be in handcuffs. So, >> your dog, you can be a [ __ ] about it, too. It's fine with me. About it. Weren't you harassing me over there? >> I wasn't over there. >> Who was the one who arrested me? >> Not me. explain everything that's going on. >> Resisting and evading. >> Resisting an invading. If you've been to NBC before, we'll find out that way. But >> why did you do it that way? >> Because extra charges, bro. >> Cuz we add an extra charge. >> For what? >> Concealing identity. >> I'm not going to say no identity. I was, bro, right here, right now. >> At first, I was not doing a single thing for you guys to question me for anything. What's going on? You guys stepped into my room. I asked to be stepped out. This guy stepped his foot in my way. He was He was He was in my way. I wasn't in his way. He was in my way. He was harassing me, bro. You're placing yourself there. I wasn't there. Okay, stop. Give me your name and date of birth and then if you want >> I wasn't placing myself nowhere, bro. >> Xavier, listen, man. It's We're not even questioning you about what was going on before. >> Concealing identity is a whole separate charge. So, if you're not >> My name is Xavier Garcia. I already told you guys this. I told I told officer over there. So, what what is the problem? >> Xavier, what's your date of birth? >> I didn't I didn't commit no crime. So, why why am I being detained right now? >> What is your date of birth? >> Resisting? What am I resisting? If I was in if I was in arrest, what what did I do to be detained to begin with? >> Those officers were contacting you for whatever reason they were contacting. >> They were harassing me. They stepped foot in my door. >> They stepped foot in my door. We'll talk to my lawyer. >> He continued to insist he was innocent even though he had thousands of dollars in cash on him and the hotel room was full of drugs and weapons. Ironically, making so much money yet living like a drifter in a cheap hotel. In the end, he was taken into custody while officers continued discussing the charges. How many 29s >> for him? >> Confirm. >> No, I got to confirm >> four or five. >> I thought it was uh for some reason that they're calling Alex. Yeah, he's 33. >> He's going to be getting a whole bunch more. >> Every single one of those in there is a separate felony charge. >> Stolen or >> Yeah. Stolen scratch number guns. Maybe like homemade like the Stanford receivers. They're taking all that cash, too. That is, >> man. Yeah. [clears throat] >> Yeah, there's a So, like I said, when I went in to go and see if they had an ID for that dude, I went to the bag and I unzipped the front pouch and just it's stuffed with cash. 100s, too. >> Dude, he's probably one of the biggest drug dealers in this area. >> Yeah, I think because >> he has like four felony warrants. So, no wonder he ran And you had eight grand. >> 8 grand. >> Plus, what's what's in the room? >> Plus in the room, dude. It's It's going to be 20,000 plus probably. >> So, yeah. 529s. You have the possession with intent to distribute [snorts] >> times however many different types of drugs are in there. I saw pills. I saw I mean, I saw blues. I saw definitely Coke. Um, whatever's in that little baggie, which is the red and blue red and whites, which >> kind of looks like Tylenol. >> Those would look like Tylenol. >> I don't know why he answered. >> How crazy ran from you guys because you harassed him and barged into his front door. >> Police found a large amount of drugs in the hotel, including over [music] 6,100 g of fentanyl, over 2,300 g of cocaine, 522 g of heroin, $47,000 in cash, and four firearms, [music] three handguns, and an AK-47. Along with this evidence, the man was charged with highlevel drug trafficking and resisting evading arrest. Although the resisting charge was later dropped, he still faces serious drug trafficking charges. Penalties for this crime can include lengthy prison sentences, massive fines, and probation depending on local law. As for the woman, she was arrested by police on the outstanding robbery warrant that had already been issued against her. She was not charged in connection with the drugs and firearms found in the hotel room. On February 11th, 2024, police responded to a call about possible gunshots. But when they arrived, they quickly realized the sound came from a car crash. Their focus shifted to investigating the scene and identifying the driver or anyone who might be injured. And here's what happened next. >> Yeah, there's one over there, too. >> You said there was a tire, right? Uh >> there's a bumper right there. >> There's a tire in the road over here. >> So this bumper matches that paint. >> Yeah, but this bump back the rear bumper still on. So what other bumper is there? >> Looks like it might be a two vehicle collision based on the roadway evidence. One vehicle should be missing a tire. >> It's like a It almost looks like a It was a parked car or something. There's no No one ejected right from that window. >> That's what I'm saying. Like >> like over here in this yard, >> dude. >> Check the trees. I've seen that before. It's not like we got here late. Like we would see someone moving if >> you said you saw the driver. As soon as soon as you guys started pulling down the road, I kept hearing like a car door. She got out of the car and grabbed her child that was in an infant car seat hauling ass down here. And she went somewhere back here in our neighborhood. >> Okay. She's tall. Her hair's done up and looks like black girl. And she's got like a little coat on. >> Okay. I mean, she legit was trying to get that door open and then I mean, she was hot this way. >> So, she saw us, >> I'm guessing. Yeah. >> I mean, she wasn't wasting no time to getting out of that car. >> Yeah, there's diapers in there, so it makes sense. >> We're right here. Uh, take your Okay, we're going to come back. We're going to go see if we can find her. >> Hey. >> Hey. >> Were you just involved in a crash? >> Yes. >> Okay. I'm 1012 with that female. Can I have another unit, please? >> Okay. What is going on? >> Just me. >> Okay. >> I just got a little tipsy was trying to drive home. >> Okay, >> that's it. >> As soon as officers approached her, the woman started lying. Her story kept changing, especially about whether there was a child in the car. That contradiction raised serious concerns about her honesty and what she might be trying to hide. my grandma. She was watching him for the time being. >> I was on the way to pick him up. I didn't even get a chance to pick him up yet. >> Okay. >> But he's still there. >> You want to fix yourself cuz you're you're um >> Sorry. >> Yep. No, just want to make sure you fix yourself there. >> Okay. >> Okay. What happened? >> Um I was just on my way to pick my baby. I don't even I'm just a little tipsy and I should never been driving. Why? >> Where's your baby? >> He's at my grandmother's. >> Which house? >> Right there. >> What's the address? I didn't have him. He start the car back up, but it wasn't starting. >> I told them I wasn't good to drive, but they said they advised that I drive my car back home. >> Anybody else? >> Who are you talking about? >> My brother and his friends. >> Is everybody else supposed to be in there? >> No, just my baby, my grandmother, and >> she was watching the baby for me while I went out for the night. and I was coming back to get him, but I didn't get to pick him up yet cuz I was going down that road and I told >> Do you live here? >> We've got some rescue guys coming to take a look at him cuz he was just involved in a crash. >> Do you mind stepping out so they can take a look at him? Make sure everything's okay. >> Yes, sir. I just picked him up. And >> has he been crying or >> No, he Well, I' I've been with him all day until just whatever lately. >> I know. But we look we know he was just in a crash. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Okay. >> Uhhuh. Has he been crying at all or making any noise? >> I'm not sleeping at all. >> All right. But he must be tired. >> I am. >> Well, you and Is anybody else inside here? >> My husband. >> Okay. >> Mhm. >> All right. Did she say what happened when she came back? >> She said she had had a little crash or something. >> Okay. >> Accident. She down there now. >> She's talking to some officers. Soon, police located the child safe with the suspect's mother, who confirmed the child had just been dropped off. Her statement didn't match the woman's version at all. But instead of coming clean, the woman kept shifting her story, making excuses that didn't add up. >> And I was going home. >> Can you just stay with her? I'm going to pull out out of the road. Just talk to him for a minute. I'm going to pull out. >> I was supposed to pick him up. I was going to pick him up in the morning. I was going home. I don't know. Who are you supposed to pick up? >> My son, but I was going to pick him up in the morning. So, I was going home. >> And this is where your son's at right now. >> Mhm. >> Okay. Were you going this way or this way? >> This way. >> This way. Okay. So, you missed your turn? >> No, I was going up and I was going to turn right there on. >> Okay. After picking him up or before. >> Yes. But I didn't even get a chance to pick him up yet cuz it's so late, you know. >> Yeah. >> That's why I told them I shouldn't drive home. I told you she could take me home. >> Were you injured? >> No. >> You mean an ambulance? >> No. >> Car seat when she came back in with her? >> Yeah. >> Where's the car seat? >> Do you mind if I go in and take a look at it? >> All right. I'm going to let these guys take a look at it. >> Listen. Okay. All jokes aside, right? Your grandmother, okay, is telling me that you walked and a witness told me you walked from that car with a car seat and that child. Okay. The child was in the car. I need to know. >> Was the child in that car? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Where was the child sitting and how were they positioned? >> Okay. Right or left side? >> Left. I'm in the right. Okay. >> So, they were on the passenger side. >> Right. Okay, where is the car seat right now? >> Faced with mounting evidence, the woman was backed into a corner. Denying there was a baby in the car after a crash wasn't just irresponsible, it was dangerous. What made it worse was her clear focus on avoiding trouble instead of making sure the child got medical attention. If the car seat wasn't secure, she could be facing even more serious charges. That's where I'm assuming they were sitting. >> So you're you're 100% certain like the the kid was in the back seat, not the front seat. >> Just cuz they >> they're like they're very worried about your kids. So that meant they need to know like >> I know the truth. >> I understand. >> Okay. >> They just did. >> I mean, she was literally hot right past me right down the sidewalk holding the child in the left arm. >> Okay. Give me one second. I'm going to relay that. So, it looks like he only has a little abrasion on his finger, right? Um, that could have been a lot worse. >> Yeah, I know. I told them I cannot drive. They didn't want to drive home. >> They actually got video footage of her carrying the child from the crash scene in front of her a >> driving or no? >> No, we were dead. >> It definitely looks >> We were dead asleep and we heard boom and I woke up and said somebody just crashed. My wife pulled ass out here and saw the car over. >> Someone called in a burglary. They thought they were breaking in their house. >> Oh. >> And then they heard they must or boom boom and they thought they were gunshots. >> Yeah. >> Well, she obviously hit the median. >> Hit the sign then hit the tree. >> Yeah. And then made it over to where the tree was. >> So, how long has it been since your last drink? >> Probably like 12 or >> nothing to drink since 1:00 a.m. >> Yeah. >> Okay. And did you have anything to drink after the crash? >> No. >> All right. You don't have any injuries? >> No. >> Other than what's from the crash? What is anything? >> Um, like this is kind of sore, but that's about it. My leg's kind of sore. >> Your left leg is sore >> and I saw the blood on your teeth. >> Yeah, my mouth is sore. >> All right. It's probably going to be a lot more sore. >> I don't remember how I crashed like crazy. >> Do you think it was safe for you to be driving? >> No, I don't. I told him he should have took me home, but he had other things to do. I heard you say earlier you felt like you were a little tipsy. >> Yeah. >> Eventually, she began to admit parts of the truth, but still tried to shift the blame onto others. Agreeing to field sobriety tests showed she was slowly accepting reality and starting to brace for what [music] was coming >> and demonstrate each test. So, for this first test, I want you to stand with your feet together, heels touching, keep your arms down by your side, and you're going to follow the tip of the stimulus with your eyes and your eyes only. Once the test begins, I don't want you to stop looking at the tip of the pen. Okay, >> you okay? Keep looking at the paint. >> Try and stay still for me. Okay, Tyrie. Okay. So, the starting position, take your left foot and place it on the line. And then take your right foot and place it directly in front of your left foot. You can begin whenever you're ready. >> Nine, dispatch. >> The next one is the one leg stand test. You're going to start with your feet together, hands by your side. Whichever foot you choose, you're going to raise it about six inches off the ground and count out loud 100,002 1003 and so on until I tell you to stop. All right, Tia, put your hands behind your back. You're under arrest for DUI. Okay, you got your shoes back on? Okay, Daria, I don't think you do, but do you have anything on you right now you're not supposed to have? >> No, my charger and stuff is in my package. >> Okay. Not or like any kind of narcotics, hidden weapons. Okay. >> I'm going to have you stand with your back up to the to the grill in my car >> and I'm going to work on getting your property for you while we wait for a funeral officer. All right. >> Yeah, >> I got you. You're not going to fall. >> This just >> right down my phone. >> We're going to stop by the car and I'm going to try and open the property. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> All right. In the end, the woman was arrested and taken to jail, charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident and child endangerment. These charges could carry jail time, heavy fines, license suspension, and other serious legal consequences. On February 14th, 2024, police pulled over a vehicle after the driver ran a red light and was swerving, raising suspicion of drug or alcohol use. At first, it was just a routine traffic stop, but the suspect's aggressive resistance quickly escalated the situation. >> Hey, do you have insurance? That's what I was trying to ask you before you roll up the window on me. >> I'm sorry. >> Yeah. >> Where are those roaches in the center council? Ma'am, >> I'm sorry. >> Huh? >> Are those roaches in the center council? >> Roaches are those blunts in there down there. >> Huh? They are right. >> Okay. All right. There's nothing illegal in the car, is there? >> Nothing illegal in the car, is there? >> I'm sorry. >> Yes. >> What? What did I just say? >> Off. >> I got to ask. Have you been drinking, ma'am? >> Ma'am, >> no. >> Have you been drinking? You see anything on your side? I mean, there's a black bag up behind her purse. I can't tell there's anything in it, though. >> Looks like she spilled something. I see something spilled on the driver's side or the passenger side. >> What's all this? She's throwing something out. >> I think she uh probably while she was driving, I >> Who are you? >> Okay, take your hands out of your pockets. >> I ain't got nothing in my pocket. >> Okay, step over there. >> [ __ ] I'm just asking a question. >> Over here in the middle. Okay. Back on the sidewalk, >> please. >> It's a traffic stop. >> What's the problem? >> I don't know why he pulled her over. He pulled her over for a reason, >> right? I'm just asking a question, bro. >> Okay. Well, he's conducting whatever he's conducting, and then we'll be done with her. Okay. >> I'm saying what? >> When the officer asked the woman to step out of the car, her brother suddenly appeared, deliberately trying to distract the police. At the same time, she secretly opened the car door and [music] poured out bottles of alcohol onto the ground. Clearly, her brother's actions were a tactic to interfere and create a diversion, giving her the chance to destroy evidence. >> Drive, >> come get the car, bro. Like, what's the problem? I just want to know what's going on. >> I don't know. >> Hey, do me a favor, sir. >> Wait in the side over there. Wait on the side over there. Come over here. Come over here. >> Come over here. >> Ma'am, have you been drinking? >> No, >> ma'am. >> Have you been drinking? >> No. >> Okay. Are you earlier in the day? >> Okay. Come over here. Come here, ma'am. Right here. >> What the hell? >> I did. She went right through a red light on East and Roosevelt and you said you had to pee. >> Ma'am, come over here. >> Still got to pee. Ma'am, come over here. >> Can I pee right now? >> No. Come over here. >> She got to pee. I wanted to piss on herself. >> No. Piss right there. >> No. >> She can piss right there. >> Will, >> ma'am. I do me a favor, sir. Sir, >> do me a favor. We're in the middle of a traffic stop right now. Stand over there. Okay. >> To open the door so she can pee, bro. She got to use it. >> She can't pee right here. >> Y'all don't hear that, >> sir. Do me a favor. Okay. I'm saying if you got the pitch, bro, YOU GOING TO PULL OVER AND FOLD. >> If you in your car, YOU GOING TO PULL OVER AND PISS, BRO. >> Where you going? >> Damn. I don't use it. >> What the Can I pee or No. >> No. >> Piss in your cage. >> Damn. A mother can't use the bathroom, >> man. You got to insurance all that. I just had her come and get me >> back up over here. >> All she wanted to do is open that open ticket. She pisses us. >> The woman not only tried to cover up her own [music] mistakes, but also used her family to mislead officers. Her repeated excuses about needing to use the restroom were not simple justifications. They were a manipulative tactic to stall for time and look for a way out of an unfavorable situation. >> Who pulled the gun on you? They gone now. >> Where where did this happen at? >> You're not making this up, are you? >> No. >> What happened? >> That's a club. >> What club? Where at? >> The [ __ ] scoreboard. >> Scoreboards. >> Okay. Someone pulled a gun on you. >> Okay. Do you know who it was that pulled the firearm on you? >> Don't know that. >> What color was the firearm? >> What? >> Did they brandish you or they physically pointed it at you? >> Chicago. here. >> I'm sorry. >> How did you know they was more in their they pur? >> So, you seen a firearm? Yes. >> Okay. You got into >> You know where they are? No. I got to ask these questions. >> I don't know their name. No. >> Okay. Where you at? I understand. I don't want Come away from the middle of the street. Don't give her a ticket, man. Not using the [ __ ] bathroom. >> No, don't do it. Don't do it. Get back on the side. If I got to tell you again, you're getting cuffed. >> I'm just talking to her, bro. putting you in cuffs cuz you're in danger. She comes back 2 and 0 for robbery and one for damaging property and for weapons and one for justice 15 and one for traffic >> on lane man out of here >> doing all that tough ass [ __ ] cuz you can lock a [ __ ] man >> and it looks like Chicago for >> Hey man come over here real quick I don't know You climb on my car phone. You told standing right here. Come over here. Come over here. >> Hey. Hey. You wanted to want to perform a series of SFST standardized field sobriety test. >> What's that? >> Uh >> my leg. Did you see my leg right there? >> Police gave her multiple chances to cooperate, but her refusal to perform the SFST, [music] standardized field sobriety test, only reinforced the initial suspicion. When she was informed she was under arrest for resisting, she immediately changed her mind. But by then it was already too late. >> Stop. It's too late for that now. Stop underrest. You're going to go here safe enough. This hurt right here. >> Wait, this hurt. >> Okay. Take off. You're right. >> Hey. Hey, Gonzalez. >> Excuse me, sir. >> That's your purse. Get that for me. >> Now, you the heat in there. You I didn't have it. So, don't get in my [ __ ] Don't get in my [ __ ] bro. >> We're going to get your purse. >> Why? >> You want the purse? >> I don't want it. Oh [ __ ] I don't want >> cuz why y'all locking me up? Right. >> Inside the patrol car, the [music] woman continued her negative attitude. She complained that the handcuffs were painful and wouldn't stop yelling, showing frustration rather than remorse. Clearly, she still believed she was innocent and that she was being treated unfairly. >> No, there's keys in there. I didn't get to search her, but >> I did. >> Thanks. >> So, this woman um went through the red light to go east and swerving. Stopped right here. Um made contact. She was kind of off. um said she had a pee and then she's telling me that just right now that someone uh pointed a firearm at her over there. Okay. So, I was asked if she's intoxicated. Um for now, >> yeah. Uh show signs of being intoxicated. Um she kept blowing her window up when I was asking her insurance. I don't know who she was talking to. Someone on the phone immediately >> here because he ended up coming up later. So, uh >> he just like walked up here. >> Yeah. I I seen I thought someone was singing, but I guess he was yelling all the way from the gas station. >> So, um >> Well, he said that she was his designated driver. >> Huh? >> He just said that she was his designated driver. >> Well, yeah, that's that's that's >> But he wasn't even in the car. >> No, he was right. He came from all the way over there from original. That's when I first noticed him walking yelling. >> Um she was on her phone and all that stuff. Kept rolling the window up on me. Um I'm not quite sure what this was. In the end, the woman was taken to jail and faced [music] serious charges, including resisting arrest, DUI, destruction of evidence, and disorderly conduct. Penalties could include jail time, heavy fines, driver's license suspension, and mandatory rehabilitation programs depending on local law. These stories aren't about judgment.
