The investigation quickly led them to the child's mother, who had left the car to go drink at a nearby bar. When officers arrived, they weren't just facing neglect. They were staring down a potential [music] tragedy. Kendra Kendra Perkins, right? [music] Keep going 133 by Kendra Perkins. Can you step out? [music] >> 55. There's a kid in the car. >> Come on. Stop over here, Kendra. >> The woman was clearly wasted. According to the police report, she'd downed eight shots and an entire bottle of vodka before getting behind the wheel and forgetting her own child. She kept insisting she'd been sober for over a year, a claim completely disconnected from reality. But when her family showed up, that's when the real heartbreak began. >> Just step over here. >> Oh my god. Holy [ __ ] >> Oh my god. Where's my granddaughter? >> She's in the back seat. >> Oh my god. >> All right. Um, she says four guards right now like 6 and 1/2 weeks. >> Okay. >> This looks like 6 and 1/2 weeks. >> You just go with that. >> I know. >> The grandmother and the officers seem to be the only ones who truly cared about the child's safety. The mother, on the other hand, refused to cooperate, then started resisting arrest like she was the victim. After seeing her child rushed to the hospital, her defiance turned into panic and breakdown. >> Yeah. I mean that's >> I did show her the vehicle. She doesn't want to sit in the car. Yes, I did show her. >> You can't. We're not in there to tell you something to calm her down. >> Walk away now. >> Just go. >> We got a baby involved. She's drunk. We got to figure this out. >> We got to figure this out. >> All right. >> Okay. >> She's under arrest. >> Sir, >> can I talk to you? >> I want to talk to you though. Is she under arrest >> right now? She's being detained. She's She's very highly >> We just push people around and shove them. >> I wasn't over there. Okay. But if she's resisting to get in the car, okay, I wasn't there. Like I said, I don't think that's okay with Okay. >> Well, I want to file a complaint on him right now. >> Okay. We'll do that. I'll give you all the instructions for that in a second. Okay. >> Send the squad car. I had to push her into the squad car. >> 133 28 by then. >> Okay. I'll leave it up to you guys. >> Yep. Uh, one of us will be heading up to the hospital here in a second. Okay. >> Talk to the grandma. >> Uh, she want the purse is just filled with bottles. >> Yep. Yep. >> Kendra. Hey, it's Tuttle. All right. Hey, listen. I need you to be cool. Okay. >> What? >> Hey. Hey. We need to get through this. You slipped your cuffs. >> What? >> What? >> We got to run you through some uh test real quick. Okay. >> Like what? >> Huh? >> Like what? Make sure you're good to drive. All right. >> I don't I'm not, but my house is right there. There's nothing going in my house. >> Kendra, you wrecked your car with your baby in your car. >> So, what do we do? >> We have to run these to a bad person. It seems to me like you're going through a rough time. Okay. Well, I'm sorry. >> Hey. Hey. It's okay. All right. I think your baby's fine. They're taking him there for precautionary just for precautionary reasons. Okay. All right. Come here, Kendra. Kendra, I need you to stand up. >> Can you stand up? >> What stood out most was how the officer handled the situation. Calm, humane, but firm. He tried to talk her down, urging her to cooperate before proceeding with a field sobriety test to document the evidence. Let's just get this knocked out. Okay. >> All right. Do you want to just put your feet together like this? Okay. Like how I'm standing. Okay. >> Don't fall over. Okay. All right. Do you have any eye problems or abnormalities? Anything like really wrong with your eyes? >> Okay. Don't fall over. All right. Now, look at my fingertip. All right. This is going to go up and down. Okay. Just my eyeballs or my head? >> Just your eyeballs. Going to move on now. Okay. All right. So, what I want you to do is I want you to imagine there's just an imaginary line right down here. Okay. Just whatever color, whatever you want it to be. Just an imaginary line that's right there. Okay. All right. Do you have All right. Before we start, do you have any physical problems or anything that would keep you from walking? >> No. Tuttle. >> Okay. >> Just my kids. So this part's very important. Okay. I want you to place your left foot on that imaginary line. Now place your right foot on ahead of your left foot with the heel of your right foot against the toe of your left foot. And put your arms at your sides. So yep, just like this. But your arms at your sides with your arms at your sides. Okay. Maintain this position until I have completed the instructions. Do not start to walk until I tell you to. Do you understand the instructions so far? >> Yes. When I say begin, take nine heel toe steps on the line. Turn around. Take nine heel toe steps back on the line. >> All right. Hey, she's unfit. Take her to the hospital. >> Okay. >> Stop. >> Okay. I'm not going to the hospital. >> You have to go to the hospital. >> No, I don't. Go. >> All right. Put your back away. >> Don't do this again. >> Take your steps. And the tests said it all. The unsteady steps, the glazed eyes, the slurred words. The officer determined she was unfit to drive and ordered a medical evaluation. As tears rolled down her face, everyone thought she was worried about her child. But in truth, she was terrified of the consequences. >> Okay. >> I have your phone and we'll I'll let you get all that air in a little bit. Okay. I'm going to take your cuffs off. You cool with that? Yeah. All right, come and take a seat. Okay. You all right? >> Yeah. >> You can't We just wait a little bit. Okay. Did you do all that? >> No. >> Thirsty. You want to help me go to the bathroom? >> Sure. Maybe you're trying to get drugs out of me. >> No, I don't want to get drugs out of you. >> I want to get THC. >> I'm not worried about drugs. >> All right, hold on. In a little bit, I'll let you do all that. I swear. Okay, but you got to take a seat right now. Okay, come on. Let's take a seat. >> Hello. >> How you doing? >> Good. How are you? >> I'm doing well. Let's see here. >> I might grab some quick. >> Sure. Absolutely. >> Right. >> Yes. >> Good. >> So, either way, I need to give this fee now. No offense. Sorry. I need to give this [ __ ] my blood. >> 136. >> I can't tell you what to do. My >> the best decision is to give this woman my blood. >> If you don't give your blood, you're sitting for a year. If you >> if I kept my blood six >> Yep. Hello. >> $65. That's it. >> Yeah. Um >> what to class? There is a there is a DUI. Hold on. So you wait 12 hours. So 3:00. Well, I say >> I have a DUI. >> She was arrested and charged with DUI and property damage. Months later in November 2022, she was arrested again. this time for driving an SUV at high speed, losing control, and flipping the vehicle. A 22-year-old passenger died, and another was injured. Toxicology reports found alcohol, cocaine, and marijuana in her system. She was convicted of DUI manslaughter and sentenced to 8 and 1/2 years in prison. When reason fades, every action becomes the will of madness. On November 4th, 2021 in Lacrosse, Wisconsin, police were called to a local park after a woman was [music] caught setting a portable toilet on fire. But when they arrived, they quickly realized this wasn't just another random act of vandalism. Something deeper and far stranger was going on. >> What's the deal? >> Yeah. >> Park earlier. >> Yes. >> Okay. Locking down here and I'm cussing and cussing and cussing. Yeah. >> You know, back to Levi. So, what happened? What's your problem with the porta potty? >> It's full of [ __ ] and it's full of plastic [ __ ] and that's what this shit's about. It's karma. Karma's a [ __ ] I'm karma. >> So, you going to light it on fire? >> Well, just, you know, proving the point. It's just plastic [ __ ] You know, water's in a bottle. Can't even [ __ ] get to drink out a water bottle or no. You have to pay for a damn water. >> Water starvation. I don't even want to give give me bottle of water. >> So, you light a to porta potty on fire? >> Just a little bit. You know, put some toilet paper in. Use your lighter. Yeah. >> And then the toilet paper. >> Yeah. Toilet paper. That's it. Light on toilet paper. It used to be a telephone pole there, telephone booth. >> It was a portal potty. I had a potty portal. >> What was your intention of lighting on fire? >> What was my intention? Just to burn some [ __ ] >> Just to burn some [ __ ] >> That's all [ __ ] Literally [ __ ] That's nothing but [ __ ] >> You said your name Your name is Melissa, right? >> Yeah. Melissa. >> So, you are going to be placed under arrest, Melissa. Okay. >> Are you kidding me? >> No. >> Go ahead and put your cigarette out. >> Why? >> You're under arrest. What we're telling you right now is that arrest for what? >> Arson, you purposely understand that. Just go ahead and stand up. >> Stand up. >> Go ahead and stand up and we'll let you figure finish your cigarette. If you don't, I'm going to take it out of your hand. Okay. >> And do what with it? >> Put it out. >> What's your name? >> Officer Beasley. >> Beasley. You >> not Don't put my cigarette out. >> Okay, ma'am. >> Let me go. >> What I'm telling you right now is you're being on place. >> What that means? >> I'm not going to let you go because [clears throat] you are being placed under me. >> Police brutality. The woman claimed she torched the toilet because it was filthy and that it was karma. That excuse alone said a lot. A desperate attempt to give her outburst some kind of moral meaning. Beneath the rambling though was a mind exhausted and burning from its own anger and loss of control. Melissa, >> are you okay? >> What's wrong? >> Go ahead and stand up. >> You want to let it go? We'll get your glasses back. >> Go ahead. >> You want them on your face? >> Would you like your glasses? >> You're a [ __ ] fine. >> Do you have a double squad by chance? >> Yes. >> You just want to pull it up? I'll hold on to it. >> You got her? >> Yeah. A fine. You can't just light things on fire. >> Really? Why not? >> Because >> this place is full of [ __ ] Officer Rhymes. Are you real? Officer 19. >> What? >> 19. 1919s. >> Okay. Officer Beasley is going to do that's going to stick right on your >> I wish I did. All right. >> Let's go ahead and go to the front of the squad. >> Look at me. Let's go to the front of the squad. >> Can you spread your feet, please? >> Oh, maybe an eyeball >> or a tit or a [ __ ] nipple? >> Yeah, my tits are nipples and [ __ ] needles, too. >> This wasn't Melissa's first runin with the law. Just a week earlier, she'd allegedly assaulted a 14-year-old girl and set a mattress on fire inside her home. Clearly, this wasn't just a case of someone losing her temper. It was a pattern, a dangerous cycle where rage always found something to ignite. That's [ __ ] stupid. >> Can't do that. That was a bad judgment call. >> You good? >> Take a seat. >> Officer Mahoney. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Had to spit. >> Okay, that's fine. Somebody's doing on the ground. >> Hold on. It [ __ ] hurt, [ __ ] >> I didn't do anything. Go ahead and suck your feet and watch your head. >> Watch your [ __ ] head. >> All right. >> Backs. Rats. Cats. >> All right. >> Seat belt on here. Okay. >> Little ticks. >> Go ahead and sit back so it doesn't hurt your neck. >> I can't sit back. My hands are arrested. >> All right. You think you hurt me? >> Yeah. >> It's not my >> You're a judge, [ __ ] >> All right. >> Yeah. Nice fake earrings. You >> think you're an officer or what? This law? >> You kidding me? >> Oh, this is good, right? You're good. You're very, very good. >> Yeah. You don't know [ __ ] >> Go ahead and look the other way. >> Thank you, Melissa. >> Thank you for what? >> Jesus. >> Jesus. You're looking at it. >> No, I was coughing. I was talking to myself. >> Her? >> Not her. She's doing her job. >> I hope so. I hope you [ __ ] know something. All right. I mean in here really tight, huh? You're going to crash and burn. >> Can you lean back a little bit? >> I can't. My hands are rested in my back. >> Okay. Can you put your knees to the side at an angle? >> No. You don't [ __ ] know who I am. >> I do know who >> you don't know how old I am. >> The woman was identified as 46-year-old Melissa Miller. She was clearly struggling with mental health issues, and officers handled the situation with remarkable patience and compassion. Her actions were disturbing, yes, but there were moments so bizarre they almost bordered on tragic comedy. >> Really? None of that beeswax. >> All right. >> All right. >> Transport or you want What are >> Yeah, you transport. I'll do the report and the PC and everything. Can I just borrow your phone and meet you down there? I will take pictures of the >> I'll take pictures of uh so arson and then whatever bail jumping I'll come down and do the card20 [ __ ] [ __ ] All right, we're going to take you down to the jail here. Okay. >> No, it's not okay. >> Do you need your window cracked at all? >> Rub rat. >> Do you need your window cracked at all? >> Yeah, I need that [ __ ] window cracked [ __ ] >> All right, there you go. Let me know if you get cold. I'll roll it up for you. >> My [ __ ] hand behind my back. >> All right, let me know. I'll roll it up for you. >> Talking to God, [ __ ] Consider yourself judge. >> 57. I'm in Roacha County. [snorts] >> [screaming] >> got me a [ __ ] arrest. You got me. You got me. We're starting a [ __ ] portal. [ __ ] Full of [ __ ] And this [ __ ] town full of [ __ ] Don't know God. You're going to [ __ ] die. I'm Isis. I'm the [ __ ] karma [ __ ] Karma karma. Karma is a [ __ ] And this one's for you, kidless [ __ ] You got me? What are you going to do? Turn around. Shoot me. I'm going to tell the truth. I'm a [ __ ] witch. I'm a black witch. The witch scissors. I'm [ __ ] looking at you. This is judge, [ __ ] Well, the computer's going to tell you what. >> Inside the patrol car, Melissa drifted into full-blown delusion. The female officer stayed silent, calm, and in control. The picture of professionalism amid chaos. Between the moaning and the incoherent muttering, it was obvious Miller wasn't living in the same reality as everyone else anymore. >> Pyramids all seen eyes. Drop turn around town down fall. Hail Hitler. Hey guys. Melissa, >> she's pretty agitated, so I pulled up a little far here. No, I don't have a seat belt on my back. >> She was here over the weekend. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Just a second. You don't know what I been through. You want to see my feet? Judge me. Take off my socks and look at my feet. >> We'll look at him here in just a second. >> Good. Shut. You know where you're going? Any of you? She really doesn't like me. Hopefully she'll be fine with just you guys. In the end, she was arrested and charged with arson of property and bail jumping. If convicted, she could face a lengthy prison sentence, post-release supervision, and restitution of up to $10,000 for the damage to public property, not to mention additional penalties for violating her prior release terms. And when the smoke finally cleared, officers thought they'd seen it all until they heard the screams of a mother and child. On August 21st, 2023, police responded to a call from a mother who reported that her 38-year-old daughter was drunk and causing a disturbance in their apartment complex. When officers arrived, they had to step in before the argument between two generations living under the same roof spiraled out of control. >> Where does she live? Every time she come out my house, wearing all these people. >> Who is that? >> My daughter. >> Where does she live? >> Where she live? >> So, she lives in the neighborhood. >> I want to Well, the whole body. I want >> All right. Can you calm down? Just relax. >> She going to give me a heart attack. >> Relax. It's all right. Nobody's fighting. She's just drunk. >> Takebody. She be staring. >> I know she's upset, but I'm just trying to calm her down. >> Can you go down there and try to talk to her? The lady in the middle. >> Yeah, it's Candace Moore. She's >> Morland. >> Morland. >> Morland. Where does she live? >> She lives in here somewhere. >> What were we all doing over here? >> She come up where Bob let me use her phone. >> Then she ran her down this way. >> I see. And that's when I pulled up. >> Yeah. Everybody she terrorized. People want to You think I want somebody? >> Yeah. I mean, no. But we're not going to hurt her. >> No, not you. These people, they going to kill her. >> Well, she's she needs to calm down. >> I'm tired now. You heard me through with >> Which apartment you live? >> Just see if she'll get back in her apartment. >> Hey, stop for a second. Let me talk to you, >> Miss Please stop. Let me just talk to you. What's going on? You're not in trouble. I just need to talk to you. Calm down. This is not a big deal. Where are you going? Where are you going? All right. I'm I'm going to go back down there with him. >> I'm tired of her coming terrorizing me. I'm I'll be 59 years old. >> What was she coming over here for? >> Drunkenness. >> Just drunk. What she What's she arguing with you about? >> Cuz I told her to go home. >> I mean, what did she initially come over here for? Just to with her, but I just want to stop doing it, please. >> Yeah, I understand. I We're gonna try to get her to. >> No. You She need She needs some help. >> I agree. Come out. Help. >> From the start, the woman was combative, arguing with everyone, looking both agitated and emotionally broken. Her mother tried to calm things down, but the daughter's detached, dismissive attitude signaled she had no intention of cooperating. A red flag that things could escalate fast. >> All right. Everything okay? What's going on? Will you talk to me? >> I got a body camera on me. Okay. >> If she comes back, I want you to stay in your apartment. Does your phone not work? >> This bought my name. >> Have someone call and you don't come out here and engage with her. That way, you're not getting involved. >> Is this where you live? >> Yeah. >> Apartment not apartment. >> Okay. All right. >> I got a video camera. Mommy, >> you're okay. Why don't you close the window and just get some rest? >> I've been right. I can't move. >> All right. Why don't you just >> I can't see on the way over there. >> Okay. Why don't you just go inside and close the window? >> Outside you want to try to lock me up. >> Just stay. No, we don't want to lock you up. We just want to talk to you. >> I'm going outside. >> All right. If you stay inside, you're good to go. >> I'm going outside. >> No, please stay inside. >> Well, you going to lock me up? >> I just depends on what you do. But I'd like you to stay [laughter] for a second. >> Can I go outside? >> Well, if you talk to me, I'd like you to stay right there and talk to me. >> I want I don't want to talk to you. >> Okay. Well, you got to talk. You got to I have a camera on too right here. Tell me what's going on. >> Can I go outside? Where do you live? >> I don't know. Don't block me off. >> I'm not going to lock you up. Just stay right there, man. >> Oh, sir. >> Where do you live? >> Can I Don't block me. >> Where do you live? >> Don't block me. >> Tell me where you live. >> Apartment, Nate. >> Why don't you Why don't you go inside right now? >> I want my stuff. >> Where's your stuff? I can get it for you. >> Go on. Come on. Let >> Where's your stuff? >> Come on. Why? I throw it at y'all. >> Where the other officer is? >> Yep. >> What? What's happening? >> He going to try to lock me up. >> He's not trying to lock you up. What you trying to figure out? >> Yeah. >> Why don't you stay inside for me? Okay. >> Why don't you shut the window for me? >> Nope. >> You don't want to let all that air coming out. >> Got mad at >> all. >> No, I'm not calling back up. Hey, she's inside, but she's she's definitely frustrated, upset, hanging out the window yelling. The other officer is just going to come talk to you. >> But no, they police open the door. They came >> I don't know. >> Oh, well, I don't know either. >> Yeah, I don't I don't Nobody's in trouble. I don't think I just think we're just trying to figure out what >> At first glance, it seemed like a typical intoxication case, but it was more complicated than that. The woman was trying to control the narrative, framing herself as the victim of an unfair world. Her restless energy and defensiveness only added fuel to the tension when police arrived. >> You won't even talk to me about what's going on in my house. >> You can't even tell me what's going on. >> Seems like this is a 1096 signal 41 related issue. 104. Can you add her to the call and give her a return? >> Where you going? >> 229 to 1237. >> She's definitely on something. >> All right. Yeah, it's time. >> All right. >> Hold on. Get her. Get her. >> Just relax. Relax. Candace. Stop. >> Get her. Get her. >> Behind your back. >> Stop. Hangs behind your back. You're not going to do that. >> I ain't going to pr my mama. >> Come. >> Yeah. >> Please let me go. >> She's got a >> big old bottle of liquor. >> No, she got her bottle. >> Grab that. >> Hey, what y'all pardon me with? >> I saw you. >> I I see you got some liquor there. Let me Let me have that. >> I'm going to take it. Oh, you can't have it out in the public like that. >> Take it in. >> No, I didn't get it. >> Cigarette. >> No. >> Here, just hand it to me. Let her go. >> Hand it to me. >> Let me go. >> Say you let her go. >> Please let me go. >> Hand me the bottle. >> No, it's mine. It's mine. >> Stop. >> Well, let me that cigarette before I go to jail. >> Come on over here. >> Let me in that cigarette. >> Come on over. >> Stop doing this. >> Doing what? >> Stop >> snatching around. I'm trying to be nice to you. Well, you need got to stop stepping on me cuz you stepped on me. >> Sit down. >> Well, somebody call the other officer. >> No. Put your hands on me cuz it hurt. >> No, I'm not. >> It hurt. It hurt. >> You're fine. >> Get it off me. I ain't saying. >> You heard me. Get off. >> We are. >> Yo, call the ambulance. Call ambulance. Call the damn am. >> Then came the breaking point. She suddenly lashed out and attacked her own mother. Whether it was the alcohol, drugs, or a fractured state of mind, no one knew. The officers saw it happen. Yet, the mother still tried to protect her. Once in custody, the woman shifted tactics, crying, complaining of pain, and blaming everyone else trying to manipulate her way out. >> I'm saying I So what you going to talk me for? >> I'm not going to sit here and argue with you. >> Y'all already got the look. So what you going to throw me in jail for? for simple battery. I've told you that. I keep repeating myself. >> Mama, did I hit you? >> Did I hit you? Mama, >> why are you making such a big scene about it? >> Cuz I want to go home. >> You could have stayed at home. But you can't out. >> I Yeah. >> Why did you leave? >> Because he said, "Let the window open." So following by the law. >> I was just talking about mental. >> Yeah, I got to go to jail. >> No, you ain't going to jail. >> I'm going to jail, mama. >> Oh, yeah. No, they're going to take you to a medical. >> No, they going they say they ain't going to take me to police and >> she'll get treatment there. >> I'm going to go to jail, man. And you know, Uncle Mike can't come get me. I ain't got no goddamn >> try to get the liquor for me. >> I know you going to jail for >> She did I'm not going I'm not agree to >> I won't agree to that. >> Agree to what? >> She did not hit. >> Well, if it's if it's if it's family violence crime, then we're obligated to make an arrest. >> No, I don't want her arrest. >> Well, you said you are your mother. Yeah, I don't want arrest. >> I understand. >> I I want y'all to take her to a mental >> I understand. >> Please help her. Help. >> You have a seat. I'll go talk to him. Okay. >> Have a seat. >> I'm going to have a heart attack. >> Well, let's have a seat. >> Do you need an ambulance to go? >> No. No. She need >> Where? Let me go talk to him. >> Let me loose. What? I'm going to jail for >> hitting your mama. >> My mama hit her. >> We saw you hit her. No, my mama didn't say. >> All right. 26. >> All right. >> Hold on. Doesn't matter. We saw you. >> No. Jeans hold me in there. I'll try and get it. Y'all No. Let me out. >> She done lost her weight. She need help. >> She have medication. >> Yeah. >> That she needs to take. Is she taking it? >> No. Psychologically, she was grasping for any legal loophole to delay her arrest, switching between fear and calculation. Her anxiety about jail time and money was obvious in every word. And that's why her mother pleaded with police to send her daughter for psychiatric treatment, saying she had no one else left once she was gone. >> Grab her keys from her. >> No, I need my keys. No. No. I need my keys. >> You're going to have them at the jail. >> I need I need my keys. You're taking them with you? No. I need my keys. No, I need my goddamn keys. I need you to back up. >> Get my damn Get my goddamn keys. >> Got him. Kill my teeth. >> In the end, the woman was booked into jail and charged with simple assault, domestic violence. If convicted, she could face fines between $1,000 and $5,000, especially if the assault is elevated due to the victim's age or vulnerability. Alternatively, the court might order her into a mental health or substance abuse intervention program, depending on her condition. The officers left behind a broken family only to find that chaos was already waiting for them somewhere else. On April 17th, 2024, police were dispatched to a Circle K after employees reported two individuals, a woman and her son, who refused to leave even though the store had already closed. When officers arrived, they discovered the pair's car had run out of gas and was blocking the lot, forcing police to intervene. >> Hello, ma'am. >> Yes. >> Officer Lou with the city of M Police Department. >> Y >> we got a call over here at Circle K and they're advising that they need to close and you're refusing to leave. I think it's probably because you're out of gas, right? Right. >> Okay. Let me see if you're allowed to maybe leave the vehicle here right now. >> I have the gas can. >> Okay. Do you have vehicle? Do you have gas in there? >> I'm waiting for my mom to come. >> Okay. >> Hello. >> Listen, I don't know what you're trying to do, but >> I am sitting at Circle K with no gas. >> Well, it's not my fault. >> No one said it is. It's not my fault about anything in your life and how you need mental health. >> Okay. >> Oh, really? >> Yeah. I'm going to send the um mental health coordinator over. I wish you would. >> Okay, ma'am. I'm not here to argue. I just want to >> here so they can evaluate you also. >> Okay, listen. I need gas. You're going to help me or you're not. You told my friends figure it out. >> She says she's not going to help you. Okay. >> Nancy. >> Okay. >> How much about me did you talk to my friend? >> I'll be right back. I'm going to ask him if they want this vehicle towed from their lot cuz it doesn't look like you got any. >> I have a >> Okay. Well, let me go ask. Okay. >> Mom. >> Hello, ma'am. I'm officer Louis with the Mouth Police Department. I think you were here the other day when I was here. Okay. So, they're out of gas. She apparent she I don't think she's going to get any gas. >> No, my systems I'm in a store upgrade right now. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, do you want Are they allowed to wait for gas or >> No, I need them trespass because they've been caught stealing. >> This is the second night she's came up here yelling at me, honking her home. >> Okay. So, what about this? Their vehicle is stuck here. Do you want to call a tow truck? I don't I can't call her for you. It's on your property. Yeah, >> but do you want to call a tow truck to have their vehicle towed somewhere? >> Okay. Yeah, I'll have the I'll call my boss >> cuz I can't Their vehicle stuck, but you know what I mean? >> Yeah, it was a hard like I wasn't going to call cuz she kept like still trying to yell at me and at me. I'm like this [ __ ] is just >> I'm aware we we've dealt with her numerous time. That was the first time I dealt with her, but the other officers dealt with her multiple times. >> So, do you want her just trespass or the son as well? My boss. >> A woman in her 50s called her mother asking for gas money. All while cursing her out in the same breath. The store clerk confirmed this wasn't the first time they'd caused trouble. But this time, their second chance was gone. Lost to their own poor choices. >> Understand that you don't have any gas. Okay. She's calling the tow truck. But for right now, she wants y'all trespass from this property. Okay. >> She's not trespassing. Listen, I already spoke to the manager. Him and I are like this. >> I understand that. But she wants you trespassed. Okay. >> I don't care if she's nobody. Why don't you call have her call the manager of the store? >> Is this vehicle racer to you? >> No, it's just my mom answering it. >> Oh, okay. >> Why don't you have her call? >> Cuz I don't have to tell do what you got to tell. Okay. >> By the way, she's ruining that. >> Yeah. So, the gas can is here. I just need to get some gas now. They'll try and tow my car. >> The store manager is on the phone >> and I'm the assistant and we are both saying that you have to leave. >> Okay. >> Did you hear that, ma'am? >> All right. Fine. Yes. >> Okay. She's saying if you don't leave the property, we're going to arrest you. Do you understand that? >> I didn't do anything for you to arrest me. Can I speak to uh >> No, she doesn't want to speak. Okay. So, I'm going to ask you now. She is the man. She's right now. She's an authorized person. Okay. So, I'm going to ask you to leave the property. I understand this is your vehicle. >> It's not the car. It's your mom's car, right? >> No, it's in both. >> No, you said it's You said it's not under your name. >> I said it's in both names. >> No, you said it's your mom's. >> You know what? You need to start recording stuff. >> I'm recording, ma'am. >> I said it's in both names. So, >> ma'am, we're not going to argue with you. Okay. So, now >> arguing, >> sir. That's you as well. Okay. So, you got to leave the property. >> Um, you can't do anything. >> Okay. >> Ma'am, I understand your vehicle. Okay. We're going to tow the vehicle, but you cannot be on the property. I try to explain. >> Don't touch my car. >> Ma'am, I'm going to ask you to leave again. If you don't leave, we're going to have you arrested for trespassing and resisting. >> You cannot tow my car. >> You as well, Matthew. >> Don't call me my real name. I don't know you. You don't know me. >> Very worn. >> Okay, Matthew. >> The woman kept denying police authority, clinging to a false sense of control as reality slipped away. Her son, seemingly caught in her delusion, stayed defiant. Once officers put on gloves, though, the warning was clear. The talking phase was over. >> Where's my car? >> No. You're going to break my door, huh? >> Step out. Hey. Hey, Matthew. Leave the property. Leave the property. Matthew, he is leaving the property. He's not He's not leaving. He's walking towards the property. He's going to be arrested. Leave the property. Ma'am, back up. Back up. >> Don't you touch my son. >> While you're back, you just threw that in my face. It hurt my goddamn >> You are going to black people. That's white. >> You mother. >> Matthew, why would you do that? >> You're You're dead. >> Hey, man. I'm not going off your property. >> No, you're not. You're going to jail, too. No, I'm going off the property. >> You got your handcuffs? >> No, you're hurting me, >> Matt. Hey, you might grab me two handcuffs, >> Adam. I'm going off the property. >> I didn't do anything. >> Yes, you did. Drop your phone. >> I didn't do anything. >> You better stop resisting. Don't break my arm. >> You better stop resisting. I'm not trying to. I'm trying to >> Mom, I hate you. You >> That's not very nice. >> I don't give a [ __ ] >> You're Mom. That's it. >> Yeah. Just ask for her. >> You're dead, Mom. Stop moving. >> I can't move. >> Stop. Stop moving. Stop. I need you to stop resisting. Okay. You need to stop resisting. >> I'm going to have a heart attack. >> Well, you better stop resisting, ma'am. I'm not trying to have you have a heart attack. >> Nancy, help me. >> Matthew, >> Matthew, >> same. Yeah. >> Or 38. >> Same. Yeah, >> black people are going to jail because of you guys. >> Black people everywhere. >> Car's on fire. You stupid. I'm pressing charges. Car is high. >> You're making for [ __ ] I swear to God you are. >> The son mouthed off and the mother played the race card, turning the situation into something it wasn't. At an age where she should have been a role model, she was still borrowing her mother's car and begging for gas money. A sad reflection of denial and misplaced pride. >> Let me stand up. >> You're standing. >> Let me stand up. I cannot breathe. >> Did your head get hit? >> No. >> I want my phone. >> Matthew, I'll grab your phone. >> Oh, don't sit in my car. >> Oh, he is going to sit. >> Did you have that ID with you, ma'am? >> Do you mind if I get it? >> Did you observe him throw that phone at me and hit me in the head? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Talking about I'm dead. That's a whole lot. Do you want to be Do you want her arrested for >> Oh, absolutely. >> Okay. >> Hell yeah. >> I'll be right back with you. Yeah, she hit me in the head. No, he hit me in the head. >> We're calling We got fire rescue on the way. >> My son didn't touch it. >> Okay. They also see him. He threw a phone at me and it hit me right here. >> That's your fault. >> Okay. All right. So, we have fire rescue come check you out. Is that cuz you have heart issues? >> Yes. >> Yes, ma'am. All right. >> And my son's disabled. So, if you touch him, you go to jail automatically. >> Okay. >> Black, yellow, white, it don't matter. >> And you broke my [ __ ] arm. Okay. I can't breathe. >> You don't have ID with you, right? >> I just want to stand up. >> You have ID with you? >> Oh, he's putting pressure on my back. >> Well, we don't want you to lean up. That's the thing. >> I don't I can't breathe. >> I have horror issues, you dumb ass. >> Okay. Well, what do you want me to do? We have >> I want you to let me stop. You're standing up, but you have to hurting me. We're not trying. I didn't get a chance to call. You're pulling up my dress. You're looking at my ass. >> You are throwing a lot of things at us right now. You're not trying to >> I didn't do that. >> My son dropped his phone cuz of you. >> Now you can buy him a new phone. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> What's your first name? >> Boogeyman. >> Are you refusing to identify yourself? >> Just leave me alone, man. >> It is going to change because I didn't do anything wrong. Neither did my son and he he's on SSI. He's disabled. You guys are going to be arrested for this black man. >> Huh? >> Factually correct. >> I know that it's correct. And this guy looked at my ass. >> This guy looked at my ass. >> Every word out of her mouth now came from panic, fear of exposure, fear of losing power, fear of humiliation. As her narrative fell apart, she tried to build new lies. A desperate defense mechanism that only destroyed her credibility further. >> It's illegal. >> Okay. >> Your car. >> It is my car. It's in my name and my mother's name. Okay. All right. I pay for it. I'm just going to pass out. Pass out on the ground. >> Good. Then lean up against the car. >> So that way if you do, then you are leaning up against the car. >> They're hurting my [ __ ] stomach. Will you please help me? These motheruckers are hurting me. >> They're pushing me up against the car. This guy's black ass. Okay. So, we got a call here cuz she says she's having heart problems. I think y'all before >> I won't do it here. You have to take the hospital. >> So, she's refusing on >> She's refusing. >> She's refusing. >> Yeah. She said she doesn't want to do it here. So, you have to refuse. >> We'll take you to the hospital. >> No, I want to go with them. >> No, you're not going with ours. >> Huh? >> But obviously it's a fire truck. >> So, get an ambulance with you. >> No, unfortunately. I'm going to call a sergeant, make sure it's okay, and then I'm going to take you ourselves. Okay. We're not going to tie up. >> Let me call my >> All right. So, let's go get her in the back of my car. >> Stop treating me like I'm a >> It's not okay. >> It's not that serious. Okay. >> It's very serious. >> I just want to fall to the floor. >> Okay. >> Okay. Can you put these in the front, please? do that. Unfortunately, >> you're going to have a seat in that vehicle or I'm ready to start. >> I can't even get in the car, man. >> Where is my son going? >> Same place where you're going. >> [ __ ] >> Yeah, we need like cat scans to our head and [ __ ] since that black [ __ ] put his hands on us. This would be great for cops. I haven't seen that show in a while. In the end, both mother and son were arrested and charged with trespassing and resisting law enforcement after refusing to leave and interfering with the arrest. The resisting charge was later dropped. She entered a no contest plea to trespassing and served 20 days in jail, credited for time served. Her son was released after booking as his involvement was minor and no one was injured. So, when losing control becomes a habit, any place, even a gas station, can turn into a crime scene. On November 3rd, 2023, Florida police responded to reports of an attempted child abduction. When they arrived, officers had to quickly identify the suspect, determine her motive, and piece together the chaotic sequence of events. A situation that could have turned tragic if they hadn't intervened in time. >> What happened? I don't have >> a truck van right here. >> I was driving right here and one white big stop right here and a one humpless lady with another man is coming outside the van and tried to take the baby lady >> and he tried to put the kids. >> Yes, that's that's one of the vehicles right there that used to >> What do you mean? What ve what vehicle? This I don't know what that is. The silver car. No, the silver car where the purple car is. >> Yeah. Yeah, the Cadillac. >> Yeah, that one. That's where they know that's their vehicle. >> And they drive also a big white van. The guy is in a green shirt right now. >> They're obviously on drugs. This isn't the first time that I've had to sit here and tell them to leave my kids alone. My kids play here. >> Who? So, who came out of the van and grabbed physically grabbed the kid? >> No. Try to physically The girl >> the girl. >> Okay. That was inside the van. There was a a male and a female occupying it. >> She pops out of the truck. >> Yes. >> Grabs your kid. >> Tries to grab my kid. >> Tries to grab your kid. >> My I guess he they didn't see that my my kid's father. >> My kid's father was outside in his truck. >> Mhm. >> And he came out and I don't know what happened from there. I guess he knows what happened from there. >> Yes. >> Where did this van take off from? >> Yeah. He went eastbound and northbound on Fed. He said that he was said he was going to a gas station. And he's going to come back and I don't know hurt people or >> what he look like. >> He said, what was it? Black or white male? Uh, >> black guy. >> White guy, green shirt driver, female inside the van. >> Officer. Officer. Come on. This is the one of the lady. >> Charlie. >> Say, "Look at my face. Look." >> Give me a sec. Give me a sec. Give me a sec. >> That's the one that grabbed the kid. >> Yes. >> Is it right here? >> Yeah. >> I took the picture. northban all fed. Um, they're going over there. Check. South Bed to like 89. >> Witness testimony from someone who was clearly under the influence became a key lead. The suspect's attempt to kidnap a child in broad daylight right in front of the parents didn't fit the profile of a calculated criminal. It looked more like a person completely out of control. Police quickly located the suspicious van and conducted a high-risk traffic stop. Clear. Stay forward. Stay forward. >> Hands up. Passenger inside the vehicle. Exit. >> Hands up. >> Stand up. Stop. Stop. Passenger. Passenger. Estate. Go on the other side of the van. >> Yeah. >> Nicole. There should be a child inside that van. >> Charlie 3. You saying there is a child should be inside that van. to the same thing. >> Go ahead. Just bring him back here for now. >> Just put him in my car. >> Put him in my car. >> What happened? >> Just kidding. >> All right, walk back to me. >> All right, >> stop six. I checked here though. Clear. >> All right, we're clear. Y >> 68 there. >> How's it going, man? >> Where are you coming from? >> Work right over here. I'm >> I was just coming from the office. Reason we pulled you over is because there was a description of a van like yours that was trying to pick up two little kids. >> No, I just left the office. I'm getting my fish sandwich right here. >> Do you care? Can you just open the door just so we can make sure there's no kids or anything? >> Sorry. >> It's funny that my kids, they call it the pet of >> They're going to laugh when they hear that. >> Oh yeah, you're good. All right. Have a good one. Thank you. >> She's walking with her son. They're turning and she's telling my kids to come follow her. >> Okay. >> She's a crackhead. She's literally a crackhead. >> Nope. Stay there. Stay in the car. Get back in the car. >> Where they at? >> I got hit on my list. >> All right, driver. Put your hands out the window. >> Just keep your hands out the window. It's all good. >> Can you Can you please listen? >> Nope. I'm not going to listen right now. Drop your phone. Drop your phone. >> Put it down. Put it down, please. >> I will put it down for you. >> Drop your phone. >> My phone. >> That's your son. >> The driver was detained while another officer discovered a second van nearby. When approached, a woman immediately claimed the child inside was her son. She knew that playing the mother card was her strongest shield, and if she sold the story well enough, it might just cloud the truth. All right. >> Do you have any other kids or no? >> Where his father? >> All right. Get in. >> What's up, buddy? >> You all right? >> I got the kid as well. >> Keep your hands. >> What's going on? >> Yeah, we'll let you know in a minute. Huh? >> She got the injury match. What's up, buddy? >> Hey, buddy. >> How's your day? >> Want to step out here? >> Yeah. >> Here. Step out. I got you. Come here. >> Wait. >> Go. Please. >> Your son's not going anywhere right now. Give me a vape. >> What? What? Hold on. Please. I'm asking nicely. >> Mhm. >> My son's not going anywhere. But why am I on ankle? >> Why am I being anchor? I'm just asking. >> So, we get a report, >> okay, >> of a suspicious van with someone matching your description, and I'm assuming that's your boyfriend or your husband? >> My husband. >> What happened? I'm not even going to ask you that. So, we get a report of someone trying to kidnap a child. Okay. So, and you guys match the description to a T. All right. And that's all I can really tell you right now. >> So, we're going to figure this out. >> Uhhuh. And we're going to cross the bridge as it comes. >> Okay, that's fine. That's fine. >> Who is he to you? Is that your boyfriend? >> That's my husband. My son. >> The license >> in my backpack. In the backpack with the sunflowers. >> Okay. >> It's in there. >> You pronounce your first name. Diana. >> Diana. Diana. >> Diana. Diana. >> Diana. >> Diana. >> Ty. >> T A I A N A. >> Oh, Diana. >> Diana. As officers explained the reason for her arrest, Diana ignored them entirely, neither denying nor admitting anything, just evading. It was the behavior of someone living in denial, or perhaps someone long accustomed to manipulation. Meanwhile, police grew concerned for the child's safety as the father stood at a distance, passive and uninvolved. >> Get over here right now, though. >> Almost. >> I'll see you here. All right. All right. >> Oh, you need to relax. >> Can't use the phone right now. Why? >> Cuz you're being detained. >> How am I being detained for what? >> Cuz you're being detained. Cuz you fit Cuz you fit the description. >> That doesn't matter. That's against the law, bro. >> That's against the law. >> Y'all didn't even read me my rights. I didn't tell me nothing. >> What's the first thing? >> For what? >> You match the description of a crime. Of a crime. >> Of a crime. Somebody that hit my mom in front of my son. >> Relax. >> Baby, relax. >> Hey, I'm answering. You need to ask me answer my questions. All right. >> See in tomato. A I >> A I >> A >> A >> N >> N A A. >> All right. >> This is This looks nice. >> You like it? >> This is how it looks when you're in jail in the backseat of the cop car. >> Uh my question is uh Okay. There was a a report that I was kidnapping my child. But was there a report on 19 McKinley that I got my lip buster by a guy? >> That was included. Yes. >> Yeah. So, he's the one that reported it cuz he was fighting for his sister >> and I flicked the sister off. Why did he come and punch me? >> I don't know. I wasn't there. >> But a cop got the report. A cop was the one that saw what happened and reported it to you guys. >> A guy on a blue car. >> Blue car. >> On a blue truck. >> Okay. All right. Well, uh, Tyiana, right? >> Because I want to stay in the car on my >> We're going to stay in your car. put my son in. >> I'm not asking you any incriminating questions. You're just >> I'm going to close the door. If you put your leg in the door frame, you're going to get hurt. >> You guys are stealing my son. >> I'm not stealing your son. >> So, why did you guys put him in that car over there? >> Your foot back in. >> To answer my question. Oh, yeah. >> If someone tries to take a child, no emotional attachment can justify it. Diana's claim that she'd been assaulted would be investigated. It could reveal part of her motive. But trying to abduct a child and then acting shocked when the parents resist, that's a chilling sign of moral blindness. >> Now you want to check my rights. >> You want to turn on your camera or check me now? >> The camera's >> Y violated my rights, bro. >> My camera's literally inside. >> Y'all violated my rights, bro. You got kids. >> You got kids? >> Do you have kids? Okay, >> let's go. Got to got things to do, people to see. >> Know what I do for a living [ __ ] supervisor, bro. Hold on. Let's just make sure. >> I don't have nothing, bro. I wish I did, bro. If I did, I would have killed this mother. Trust me. >> You don't got anymore. >> Just got out of work, bro. >> Your boots. Nothing. >> Nothing. >> Nothing. >> Can you lower the window on this a little bit? >> The window down. Stay calm. >> Let's do something. >> And I have a supervisor here like now. Yo. When you were here, tell me exactly what happened from my gear side. >> So, I was in the car. >> Mhm. >> She was leaving, but right before that, I seen my daughter go inside and she's like, "What were the face and scared?" >> They already had told me a month ago, >> my daughter felt uncomfortable >> that that lady was trying to talk to her and [ __ ] >> Yeah. Yeah. >> But when she drove off, the lady comes out and starts you mother. Don't worry, I'mma get I'm going to get her here. I'm going to get her >> to you. >> I don't know. Just out loud. >> Oh. >> So I I'm right here and I'm like like what's going on? Were you all right? >> And she just started going off going crazy. And then she came running and just ran up to me >> and I told her, "Yo, back up. Back up." >> And she just kept coming back. Kept coming back to the point that I wanted to hit her but I didn't. I grabbed I was grabbed dirt. I was throw dirt at her. But she swung at me and then spit at me as a reaction. Yeah. And as a reaction, I just >> I hit her in the mouth. >> Okay. In the end, the woman was taken into custody and charged with attempted child abduction, a serious felony. The man involved could face threats to kill charges, while Diana might also face assault and battery spitting counts. Both could additionally be charged with child endangerment. If convicted, they face multiple years in prison and the likely loss of parental rights. So, what started as a reckless driver soon turned into a hunt for something far darker. On June 16th, 2021, police were dispatched after a woman was seen standing outside a store, shouting and behaving erratically. The caller feared she was in the middle of a mental health crisis, prompting officers to check on her welfare and restore order before the situation spiraled out of control. Need that. And I was afraid to call again cuz I get Baker acted. She stops them with this every time that you guys try to walk past my doorstep. So, help me God. >> You still living with her? >> Yes. And I didn't want to have to do this to my mother. I love her. Why are you out here in front of the store like yelling though? >> Cuz I'm mad. I'm not bipolar. I'm tripolar at this point. I'm not bipolar. >> Well, cuz we there's someone someone called cuz they were concerned about you. >> And I should have had a camera right up my ass instead of one in my house. She made it where I couldn't even show you guys footage or nothing. >> Do you think she's out to get you though? >> You want to see her roller? She >> No, I'm just I'm just asking you a question. >> She is. I think I don't know why. I used to say, "God, have I done something?" I don't remember. >> Okay. >> I'm an alcoholic in recovery. She's still an alcoholic and they said if I go back there, she's cancer for my brain. It'll hurt me. >> And I sat in jail. >> I'll be right back. So, you live in Daytona or what you >> She was yelling at my bug guy, "My name's the one that paid for it." Perimeters. >> Okay. >> He said on my thing, "You've got active bed bugs, but your mom's going to kill me and I'm going to blur for you." >> Then why are you still living there? >> She keeps bringing stuff down. My son was down there trying to clean everything. >> Are you okay? >> I believe you. >> Are you all right? >> I'm okay. >> You sure? Yes. I look like I'm geeking, but I'm really not. She's been scratching my back. >> Did you take anything today? >> See, I'm on doxycyc that they put me on. All right. >> And she's been hiding all my blood work. So, I couldn't even get my own blood work. I'm ADHD and OCD and I get they've got me labeled as an inetamine laser down here. That's all they see. >> Okay. >> And I never ever abuse inetamine. I was >> How long How long you been having issues with your mom? >> For 10 years since I moved here. And you and you're but but you're still staying with her. >> I've been trying to get out >> for 10 years. >> Yes. Vrex for shingles herpes. >> And I don't I haven't dated. >> When's when's the last time you took your medication? >> To be honest, yesterday it's down at the condo. >> What What do you What do you take your medication for? >> I've got PTSD. See, they said I'm bipolar and I said, "No, I'm not." >> Yeah. You said you just said that you're bipolar. >> I said I'm triple. I was joking. From the very first words out of her mouth, something felt off. Her story was fragmented. Her topic shifted rapidly and her eyes darted away whenever officers asked for ID. It was clear to the responding officers that they were dealing with someone in crisis. Her grasp on reality was fragile and escalation was only a matter of time. >> Put that put that paperwork in there so you don't lose it. I'll drop it. >> Actually, this is not I can't even find one and she hid it. Fine. I didn't mean to drive off. >> That's fine. That's fine. You're good. Just come here. Hold on, Janelle. You got to grab your paperwork. >> Just hop off of proof. You can look at her roller dice. Apparently, >> you're going to come around. >> No. No. >> Janelle. Janelle, >> stop. >> Janelle, >> Janelle. You got it. >> No. No. No. No. They say no. Gosh, it's all slippery. >> Yeah. >> Ow. And now I don't hurt people. Stop it. Stop it. >> You are not going to kick me. >> My hand. Stop. Stop. >> My mom. >> Stop. >> Stop. >> Stop resisting. >> No. >> Stop resisting. >> Give me two. >> No. No. I didn't shoot. My mom stole my activity. So I feel like you >> stop. I'm not playing with you anymore. >> Got it. I'm not. >> Throughout the encounter, she repeated strange accusations about identity theft, alternating between cries of pain and threats of self harm. With every passing minute, her speech grew more erratic, her tension more visible. When her body could no longer obey her, she turned to language, using words as her last weapon to fight a reality she couldn't control. >> My master lies in my mother's room. No. >> No. I tried to climb up. >> No. Last year >> highway was closed. No. >> Stop. >> No. Stop. You stop. My mom's waiting for >> My son thinks I canled his Roblox. My mom updated the computer systems. >> I guess some other units will put her in. >> No. No. You just took my son. >> Stop. >> No. You just gave my my son. No. No. >> Yes. >> No. No. That's not my fault. I tried to stop this. I don't hurt people. I don't hurt people. >> You just tried to hurt both. Put your leg down. >> That's cuz this is my son there and she Oh, I should have destroyed my car. >> Can you calm down now? >> Can I? Yes, I will. I was trying to have you guys follow me there. I got >> in the car. Get her. >> I did not start. I tried to tell them. >> This is identity theft. Identity theft. >> God, my car is on fire. Stop. We're going to let you have a seat in the AC. All right. >> You want me to dirty cup? >> No. No. It's clean. I just cleaned it out today. >> No. Right. >> You all right? >> No. >> Have a seat real quick. All right. >> In my car. >> We're going to take care of it. >> We'll take care of it. >> No, I did not. You did that. [screaming] You got no seat. >> You guys won't even look at my bank statement. Call the bank. >> Call the bank. Identity fraud. Janelle. All right, we'll look at it. Just have a seat right now. Sit down. No, >> I think I would do this if I wasn't serious. >> Just have a seat. We'll >> You're not going to look at nothing. >> We're going to look at everything. >> Yeah, now my car is >> After officers managed to separate her from the chaos, they escorted her to the patrol car to cool down. But before that, she suddenly shifted the vehicle into drive, causing a collision that heavily damaged the patrol car. The contradiction between her cries for help and her dangerous actions revealed the depth of her inner conflict. A desperate plea for aid mixed with total loss of control. >> Oh well. >> I've tried to tell you guys a 100 times. My mom's a hardcore real. >> Put your foot in so I can close the door. >> I need to get my hair back. It's in my face. >> Well, you can do that when you put your foot in. >> Put your foot in now. >> No, he's not. Somebody needs to listen. I know I'm on camera. >> Yeah, you are. >> Yeah. Well, somebody else asked my neighbor. He told me the truth before I left. >> Your mom's been covering. We've had a camera. >> You just made this happen. He said >> um [ __ ] >> Yeah, we're fine. >> I don't know if it's her. I think it's her blood. >> Bro, I'm got angles coming too. Let me let me get someone in park yet. >> Nope. Try. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. You might Well, no. This >> She ends up getting arm free, puts in a drive, and starts coming. Pull her out. I run try to stop the car and it waffle right into this. >> Where was it parked at? Right in front of Thank you. Where that where that paperwork is? >> Yeah. >> He's got wipes for you, too. >> Yeah, I knew that. >> Even after receiving medical attention, she remained trapped in the same loop, claiming pain, fabricating stories and returning again and again to talk of her mother and her identity. Whether driven by a mental disorder or drugs, the real horror wasn't just her behavior. It was watching her sanity collapse in real time. >> My face. Everything. Ow. Well, I tried to call you guys out cuz I don't lie. My mom saw my identity. >> Okay. I I don't know what's going on and why you were in handcuffs, but we got medical here to look at your cuts >> on you. >> I see. >> Okay. So, are you going to work with me on them? >> Seen things. Yes. >> Okay. I just need you to step outside. >> Step your step outside. >> They're going to look at your legs. >> Okay. >> Look, we're going to check it out. Oh, my boss John me for Raider. Johnny Johnny De's. >> What do you need? She can come out. You can see if you need a stand or she can flip around. >> Okay. >> I mean, just tell her do a 360. I don't have to make sure your wrists are okay. >> I think it's broken. >> Nothing's broken there that I can go. >> Okay. >> Ow. I swear I broke bones. I got a clavicle that looks broken. Two, I know my bones. My mom doesn't even know how to spell. Congratulations. >> My mom identity theft. Listen, sorry, I don't talk like a word. I don't like that word, but my mom calls me that stupid my whole life. Stuck on stupid. I should be going there. >> I don't think you're stupid. >> I'm very smart. >> She wouldn't let them medicate me. Back in high school, I read a kids book. They said I was genius, but my ADHD makes me kind of stupid. My son, she calls him stupid, but he knows about her cuz he's a genius >> and he's going to kick her ass the next time she hits. >> Let's not say that. >> I don't want to say that. But God, what? Look what she just did to me. >> I just I just I just went off on four police officer. Come on, officers. I don't do that unless my life's in danger. >> But your life wasn't wasn't in danger then. Why'd you go off on him? >> What's that? >> Your life wasn't in danger, though. >> It was in danger. >> No, it wasn't. >> Yes. She scratches you down your back and my son did it. >> What's the deputies? >> Oh, not there. My mom. Yeah, I didn't even get to shave my legs. They still let you shave it. >> Ultimately, she was booked into jail and charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence. If convicted, she faced up to 5 to 10 years in prison, fines of around $1,000, and up to a year of additional jail time. Her criminal record would likely impact her access to mental health treatment and her parental rights. From crimes against children to delusions played out in public, the performance of deceit was far from over. On August 21st, [music] 2021, police pulled over a woman for running a red light and failing to yield to an emergency vehicle. What began as a routine traffic stop quickly spiraled into a full-blown criminal investigation when officers discovered signs of identity fraud and possible possession of narcotics. Chafitz. >> Hello, my name's Officer Thuman. The reason I stopped you was because you didn't uh stop with that red light, continue to the intersection. >> Really? >> So, you failed to yield. >> So, you pulled out and uh we still had a green light for westbound traffic. Did you notice that when you hit the brakes? >> No. Okay. Where are you coming from today? >> Okay. I'm headed to >> Huh? >> Where you headed to? >> Um to my house. >> Okay. Do you have an ID with you? >> I don't. >> You don't have Do you have anything with your picture on it? >> No, I don't. >> Okay. Do you have any debit card or credit card? I'm going to assume you paid somehow with for that. >> Yeah, I paid cash. >> Okay. Do you have a receipt for that then? >> Um, no, but I was just brand new. >> Okay. No, I see that. I see that. You don't have anything with your name on it, though. >> Okay. What's your last name? >> Um, M A L A K O W S K Y. And Taylor's 179. Can I get an additional unit as well? Hi. >> Hi. Any luck with that? >> No. He said he doesn't have insurance. >> Okay. Would you be willing to step out of the vehicle for me and talk to me? >> Yeah, no problem. >> Okay. So, I'm trying to put the pieces together here. Okay. Yeah. Um, first of all, do you have any weapons on you that I should be wear? Would you allow me just to patch you down, make sure you don't have any weapons on you? >> Okay. >> No knives or anything like that. Okay. Okay. So, why don't we step back right here so we're not in the middle of the road? Okay. So, just be honest with me. Okay. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> I don't think that you are who you who you say you are. The the photo that I looked at doesn't look like it's you. >> It was issued in 201. >> When they cross-checked her information with the Department of Transportation DOT database, the 2020 photo didn't match. The hair, the face, even the address were all wrong. The officer stayed calm but firm. He'd seen enough fake IDs to know when someone was spinning a story that didn't add up. >> They provide to me to to show me that who you are. >> I have a lot of my stuff in Rylander still. >> Okay. Don't have like a debit card, like a food card. >> I've been pretty broke right now. I just came here because I'm trying to find a better job. >> Okay. What do you have in like your wallet? Like do you have anything in there with your name on it? >> I just like social security. I was dating this guy and he was kind of crazy and he ended up throwing like my purse like into the dam down there. Like I don't have anything. >> What do you know your social security number? [ __ ] >> Knock off my head. >> Okay. >> Oh my god. >> I really Sorry. >> So, is there any other What's the address in Park Falls then that that would >> um It was on First Street. I believe it was one of the streets cuz I I was staying with um my old boyfriend. >> Okay. So, you're you're telling me you're confident that that's who you are? Okay. >> Um and you don't know your social security number? >> Not. No. >> And do you have your card with you? >> No. >> I like I said, my my boyfriend was really kind of crazy and he we broke up and he threw my purse in the day. I'm actually over here. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> And I'm detecting a slight odor of like a toxic beverage. Have you been drinking at all today? >> I can take a breathalyzer. I've been drinking. >> Okay. I I thought I I got a whiff of something, but it could have been cigarette smoker. It could have been something else that that with the wind, but >> um Okay, Taylor, why don't you just have a seat in the car? Okay. And you're confident that you that that's who you are? >> Yes, you did. >> And you don't have anything to provide with your name on it? >> No, I wish I did. I have to go down to the DMV here. >> Yeah. All right. Okay. All right. Just remain your vehicle. Okay. >> All right. Thank you. So, I was able to get a DOT photo issued in 2020. She has nothing with her name on it. No debit cards, no credit cards, nothing. And >> um her name is Taylor Malcowski and she says she's from Ryan. I said, "What would the address? What's your old address?" Then comes back to a Park Falls on her DOT, but she gives me a Rinellander address. And I look at her DOT photo and this is what I got issued on in 2020. And it does not look I mean, she's got two lip piercings. No. >> That's when the K-9 unit changed everything. The dog alerted to the scent of narcotics, instantly exposing the lie. The woman clung to her fake name, but it was over. She'd lost control of her own narrative. People don't lie to hide something small. They lie to bury something much bigger. >> Hey, how's it going? >> Always forget how big of a beast this dog is. Yeah, I don't think she's given us her real ID yet. So, I think we >> second opinion on looking at her. >> I mean, let's see the photo one last time. Just >> Yeah, just there's a lot of based on everything you're telling me. Okay. >> I mean, unless you could take Hey ma'am, would you be willing to step out of the vehicle for me again? Okay, thank you. >> Let's step back over here so we're out of traffic again. >> Okay, >> so um the reason I'm asking you to step out of the vehicle, the K9 did alert to the presence of a narcotic or illegal substance in the vehicle. >> Let's step over here. I don't want to get hit by a car. >> Um is there anything in the vehicle that we should be aware of? Know of >> Okay. Any needles or anything that's going to poke us while we're >> Shouldn't be. >> Okay. Cuz we're going to be conducting a search. Okay. Um >> he's not my car. >> Oh, I understand that. So, why don't we step back to the front of my vehicle? Okay. >> Okay. >> So, and again, just to confirm your information, I guess you are who you are. Is that what you're saying? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Um, just because it gave me some second thoughts and and like I said, that DOT photo that I looked at was I mean, your hair is the same color. I get that. >> Yeah. >> Um, >> actually, dying a little bit darker. >> Okay. Just hang tight. If you want to lean up against this, you can. >> Okay. >> Yeah. I just want to address something with her here now. >> Okay. So Erica, why why didn't you tell me your name at first? Taylor. So who's Erica that's on there? >> Um I don't know. I think it's my friend Doug. >> Erica who? >> Um Bowman. >> Bowman. Okay. >> And you're confident that when we're doing our search, we're not going to find an ID or anything else that with your name on it like I've asked for four times. >> Um yeah, I'm actually lying. >> Okay. So who are you? >> It's not my first day out here. >> Dallas. >> Okay. What's your last name? >> Ren. >> Okay. Why didn't you want to give me that information in the first place? Okay. >> A search of the vehicle confirmed it. Small Ziploc bags, cash, pill containers, and syringes. Clear signs of drug activity. Yet, through it all, the officers stayed composed, professional, and by the book. No yelling, no aggression, just procedure and patience. That's the kind of policing that earns respect. >> Yeah, she has about $500 cash, so I think we can justify taking that with this. >> Yeah. And 10 of those baggies, too. Are they individually packaged? >> There's a handful that are individually packaged. But here, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100. One, two, three. >> 60. >> 80 100. She's got these. Okay. Oh my god, so much makeup. So why'd she say she lied? She's got a PO warrant. She does she sister's name. So appropriation, >> right? If her sister wants to pursue charges, >> 100%. If you can't get a hold of sister, you can still pass it and let the DA toss it if they want. >> Yeah, I've done that in the past. This door is pretty uh loose if you see I don't know about your side. >> I haven't got to truly playing on the door, but I'm noticing the uh fuse compartment has a bunch of fuses missing and wide open. Crap. A lot of knives. >> G, can you stand up for me, please? >> No. >> Can I what? >> I have a cigarette. Are you taking or no? >> Yes. Do you have anything on you that I should be aware of? Okay. So, why don't you step in front of my car here? I'm going to search you. No needles. I don't think it's going to poke or hurt me. >> When every layer of deception finally fell away, she stopped fighting and began bargaining with reality. Her voice softened. No anger, no denial, just resignation. In that quiet moment, the officer chose compassion over judgment, offering her a cigarette instead of condemnation. Oh, >> sorry for that. So, feel free to have a sig. Okay. Um, talk to me about the half ounce of meth in there. >> And the needles obviously, right? >> Yeah. >> Go ahead. >> I'm just an on and off addict, you know. >> Sorry. What? >> I'm just I've been a addict on and off for like my whole life. Okay. So, talk to me about the cash now. Just over $500 or so of cash. >> Um, >> and all the individual baggies. I mean, like I said, it's not my first day out here. I'm not I don't like sell drugs like that. >> I really don't. >> Why do you have a whole baggie? Small individual baggies. >> It's It's not even like that. >> And a scale. I'm pretty sure there's a scale in there, too. >> I just want to make sure I'm not ripped off when I buy stuff, you know? >> Bags. You can't buy bags individually, so I just buy one, you know, as well as like he's getting them in the pet shop, you know? >> So, are you willing to talk to me about where you got that from? >> Yeah. >> Are you willing to talk to anyone about that at some point? >> No. >> So, is there anything else we should be looking for in the vehicle then? >> I want to be able to document that you're cooperative with me and honest, right? >> Yeah. Yeah, that's all it that's all. So, I'll let you finish that sig. Okay. I appreciate you being decent. Okay. Okay. Sit down. >> Would you give us Yeah, you can sit on the curb. Would you give us permission to park your vehicle on the street right here on Oak? >> Otherwise, we'll have to get it towed from where it is. >> Oh, yeah. >> Okay. I can sit >> good. Okay. You just place your hands behind your back then. Okay. So, I'm going to take this bracelet off for now. Okay. >> I'll make sure it goes in your belongings, though. >> All right. >> You take my purse card. >> Yep. Anything else that you'd like to be in your belongings? >> That was okay for you? >> Yeah. The woman was later booked into jail and charged with possession of controlled substances, providing false identification, impersonation, and violation of probation. If convicted, she faced felony charges carrying up to 10 to 15 years in prison, fines reaching $25,000, and the complete revocation of her prior parole or probation privileges. On December 1st, 2022, police responded to a disturbance between two neighbors after one allegedly dumped cat litter all over the other's car. When officers arrived, they had to verify the damage and determine what sparked such an unusual conflict in the first place. >> Looking at my car, it's just like beside my car. No, it wasn't like I'm tired of them. It's always something. >> Always something. >> What started today? Did you >> put trash on my car? >> And and you confronted them about it or >> No, I walked up here. I'm like, man, I'm tired of y'all throwing trash on my like what is the [ __ ] problem? What is the issue with y'all? What's the issue y'all got with me? Oh, I don't like that y'all do. I don't like that you do this and y'all you do this in your house and you trick and d whatever I do I pay my bills. I mind my [ __ ] business. None of their business. That's what the personal issue is. >> Okay. >> So now they feel some type of way because I have people at my house. Whatever time even though I pay my own bills, right? >> They want to throw the trash out my car. I park right here on the side right here sometime to bring up my groceries. Makes sense, right? Instead of right here. >> Mars. Quick question for you. >> Absolutely. >> I didn't catch it. Did you see her break the vase too or No. >> So I saw the vase. pieces of ace come off here. And I came over, started recording. She's yelling, screaming, threatening these two. >> Then she came down the stairs. Ma'am, no one's speaking to you right now. I'm talking to the officer. Thank you. Uh, and she came down the stairs and I had my phone. I was recording cuz these are elderly folks, bro. >> And she slapped my hand trying to slap my phone out of my hand. >> Could I see that video? >> Oh, yeah. Absolutely. >> Now, I'm not trying to press charges or nothing. >> No, I understand. That's completely You're right. >> Yeah, but Okay. Well, they call me and tell me you have a problem. >> I called the landlord. This is the second time this happened today. >> Yeah. >> I called the landlord the first time. >> So what? So what? I have to get up and work. >> Tell me my problem instead of starting to do this. >> Stop putting [ __ ] on my car. >> Stop putting [ __ ] on my car. >> So why is it everyone? >> The woman quickly lost her temper, swinging at the neighbor who was filming her. It was clear she couldn't stand being recorded. Maybe she felt violated, maybe judged. But whatever the reason, that impulsive slap turned a petty argument into a criminal case. When questioned, she resisted in every possible way through words, tone, and body language. The tension in the air was heavy. Born from one reckless moment of pride. >> How long's this been going on? >> I don't know. I don't even want to do none of this. I don't want to. >> Well, we're here now, fortunately, so we'll figure it out. >> What's your last name, ma'am? FR Bro, >> what are we doing this for? I'm >> just getting your information. It's a disturbance. We have to come out and and see what's going on. Find out both sides of the story. >> There's no [clears throat] nothing. Like what? I don't want to do none of this. I don't want to be none of this. I don't want to do any of it. But it's so childish and arguing. >> I agree. But neighbors, >> it's part of the investigation right now. There's no investigation. There is >> there's no investigation going on >> there. Just got to read you these read you this. Okay. >> What is that? >> Your Miranda rights >> for what? cuz because we got to ask these questions involving the am going to jail. >> Not no we're >> So what are you reading my Miranda rights for? >> So that way I can question you. Okay. >> Miranda has nothing to do with getting arrested. Has everything to do with me questioning talking to you to find out what happened. Okay. >> So you have the right to remain silent and refuse to answer. >> This is what let him >> Can you let me can you please let me finish? >> Sure. >> Like I said like I said >> you don't read my underwrites [clears throat] any other time. >> It's just a question you about the investigation. Okay. >> No, it's not. Y'all are lying. You want to talk to us? >> Do you want to talk to us or not? >> My house. >> Do you want to talk to me or not? >> Because the stupid ass neighbors want to get into with me. Talk to for what? >> I got to question you about what happened. >> See, >> so I got to read you these Miranda rights. Are you going to listen or not? >> Are you going to move? >> For what? >> I've explained it already. >> I don't know. He said he just wants to read the rights to me and all this stuff. I don't know. For what? >> I don't know what the street. What's the problem? >> Yes. So, are you going to let me read this to you so I can ask you the questions? Just read it. Just start reading. >> All right. You have the right to remain silent and refuse to answer any questions. Anything you say may be used against you in accordance. >> She invoked her right to remain silent. And when she said no, the officers respected it. But silence doesn't erase what happened. Between witness statements and her earlier admission, police had more than enough probable cause for a lawful and undeniable arrest. >> What is this for? >> It's a yes or no. >> It's a yes. >> I don't understand anything you're saying. I don't understand. What part did you What part did you not understand? What part did you not understand so I can explain it? >> So you have the right to remain silent refusal. >> I'm not being arrested for it. >> You're not being arrested. >> Part of the investigation. >> We're still trying. >> We're still trying to question. We're still trying to talk to you. >> Don't do none of this. >> Which part of it did you not understand? >> None of it. >> So you're not willing to talk to us >> about what? >> It's a simple yes or no. Are you willing to talk to us? >> No, I didn't. >> I was on video. Funny. >> What? Cuz you came up to me. >> For what? I'm getting arrested for what? My >> No, I didn't. I didn't do anything. >> My Stop. I didn't stop fighting. Come to the house. Hurry up. Come to the house. Hurry up. >> Turn that off. >> No. No. No. >> Are you teasing the vehicle? >> Yes. I saw this little before. Can you put her in there, please? >> Get the Can you get the couple statement, please? >> I'll lock your door for you. Okay. >> And talk to her again. >> No, you got Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> Can you park it back there, please? Please, please, please, please. [laughter] >> You're walking this way with me. Let's go. >> For what? For what? For what? For what? >> Going to jail. That's what >> For what? >> Criminal mischief. Resisting arrest. >> I No. No. I didn't resist. >> You 100% resisted. >> No. No. I'm sorry. I didn't resist. I didn't resist. I didn't resist. I didn't. >> My keys are right there. Please put her inside. I didn't say it. I was trying to figure out what was going on. >> Have $1,000, >> maybe more. >> I did it to the Dy, please. I did it. I'm sorry. [laughter] I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm I didn't Yep. Okay. >> For what? We just explain it to you. I don't want to be judged as this. I didn't mean to. >> As she was being led away, her defiance cracked. She started worrying about her dog and asked the officers for help. A sign of emotional collapse and acceptance. The manipulative resistance faded, replaced by fear and regret. It's the moment when anger gives way to vulnerability. When a person finally realizes the consequences are real. >> On the curb for me, please. >> And it's so super tight. It is super. Have a seat, please. >> Can I talk to you first? >> You can talk while you have a seat. Have a seat. >> I can't do it. >> Have a seat. >> I didn't do anything. >> Have a seat. I'll help you down. Just have a seat for me, please. Come on. >> No. Please. >> Please sit down. >> I want to talk to you. >> Please. Sit down. >> Just go straight back. I have you. You're not going to fall. >> I didn't do nothing. No. Stay right there. >> No. I ain't doing nothing for what? What am I going to jail for, bro? Stop. [screaming] >> Stop. I'm pregnant. You don't have to do that. >> Can you talk to me? They're so tight. Please. I didn't do nothing. >> What part of sit down? Because this is why you're getting a resisting charge. >> I don't know why I'm trying to talk to you. You know he's being nasty for nothing. >> You bought a resisting charge. >> How? >> When we tried to detain you, place the cuffs on you. You kept fighting us. >> I was not fighting. Y'all didn't have to >> pulling away. So pulling away from us. That's not fighting. >> No, I didn't know what was going on. >> We told you we were putting you in cuffs and you kept pulling away from us. That's the definition of >> turn around and talk. >> The time for talking was over. >> Check your cuffs. Don't stand up. >> Don't stand up. Don't >> stop. >> I'm not standing up. >> I'm moving. They're so tight. >> They're so tight. If >> you want me to fix them, stop moving. >> Y'all are being nasty for nothing. >> Let go of me like that. I'm fine, but let go. You're pushing me down. >> Stop my stomach. Get off my stomach. Get off my stomach. >> I You don't have to do this. I'm fine. >> Stop. >> You don't have to do this. You need to stop. Sit down. Obviously not because we're here now, aren't we? >> I can sit down. I can sit down on the curb. I swear. >> Here. >> I can sit on the curb. >> It's not even five. >> So, what am I? >> Resisting arrest, criminal mischief. >> What is >> That's vandalism. >> So, why do I have to wait a whole day? >> No. >> I said if you have $1,000, you won't have to. >> Don't move. >> What is it? >> Don't move. Look forward. >> Look forward >> and let him fix your cuffs. >> What did you say? I said >> look forward. >> You have $1,000. You can bond out as soon as you get to the jail. >> A,000? Why isn't it 500? >> Because you have two charges. You have the criminal mischief charges. >> Once things calmed down, one of the officers took time to speak with the neighbor. He gently advised them to file a formal complaint, explaining that an additional charge would keep the suspect in custody longer and reduce the risk of her returning to cause more trouble. a small but meaningful act of professionalism and civic care. >> And that's where she slapped me. >> So, I mean, and she was threatening Rosie when I walked up. I started recording. >> Can I go as her proxy and get the ball? >> She needs to do it. But >> give me a second cuz I'm going to be blunt with you. I'm still in training. So, I will go talk to my training officer. Um, and I'm trying to be very careful how I word this. >> If I were you, >> I would press charges. >> Yeah, I'm not. >> Why? What would that do? >> In the back parking lot cuz she said she was going to [ __ ] your van up. >> Yep. So >> she said she was >> especially if and because we can absolutely arrest on because that's a battery. She slapped you. >> That's absolutely a battery charge. So I'm just saying >> I know and there's the threat too of >> that's an that that's an assault charge we'd have to we would have that would be a charge passed up to the district attorney and they would decide if they wanted to charge on that. But the battery we can definitely put on her now. >> Yeah. >> Without question. All I would need from you is a statement and you to up and send you a link so you can upload that video you took of her for me to my evidence website. >> Yeah, man. I'm I'm not comfortable doing that, unfortunately. >> And listen, I I'm not I'm not here to >> call, brother, to be >> No. And I'm not I'm Listen, I'm not here to judge you. And here's here's what I always tell people. I don't, for lack of a better way of putting it, I do I I am, especially the officers that I'm working with today, do not care about what your past is, especially if you are a victim. We only care about what's happening today and now. >> I appreciate they're they're great, man. They've come out. I worked at a come out to the treatment center, >> but you get my point. So, >> I I'm not going to force you to I'm not going to I'm not going to try and tell you you have to or make you feel bad for not doing it. Yeah, >> but that is definitely if you did it wouldn't it wouldn't hurt. >> In the end, the woman was booked into jail and charged with criminal mischief, property damage, and resisting an officer. Her initial bond was set at $1,000 depending on whether the neighbor pressed charges for the slap. She could also face assault, battery charges. On November 8th, 2023 in Shepharddsville, Kentucky, a horrifying case shook the community. Tiffany Lucas, 32, was arrested for the brutal murder of her two sons, Jaden and Maurice. Before this, she had no recent criminal record aside from a drug charge back in 2018. She owned a convenience store and was widely seen as a devoted mother. But that image came crashing down when investigators uncovered the unthinkable. She was responsible for the deaths of her own children. And here's what really went down. >> County 911. Where's your emergency? 219 Bentwood Drive, Shepardsville, Kentucky 40165. Uh, my neighbor just came up to my door and just passed out and I can't get her to wake up. She's >> okay. >> She is. >> I would say in her early 30s >> and now she's screaming that the kids are dying. Stay here. >> Shortly after, the neighbor's husband called 911. >> This is 911. >> Yes. uh next to 219 drive. My wife's on the phone. The kid I just waited at our neighbor's house. The kid he's on the bed. He's all bloody. >> There's a kid on the bed all bloody. >> Yeah, in my neighbor's house. She told us that he's okay. He's breathing. So, he's >> But this is this is at 219. >> It's next to 219. >> To the left or the right if you're looking at the street. >> All right. To the left hand side. It's okay. [sighs] >> Do we know what happened to him? >> I have no idea. We just found our neighbor, the woman, their mom, just >> Okay. >> freaking out my yard. >> Okay. And how old is he? >> Uh, oh my god. He's uh I don't know. He's probably six. There's blood all over the bed. There's a gun. Oh my god. >> Was he shot? >> I can't I don't see a gunshot. She conscious? Is she conscious? Yeah. >> Ma'am, what's your name? >> Tiffany. >> Huh? >> Tiffany. >> I can't hear you. >> Tiffany. >> Tiffany. >> Mhm. >> All right. Tiffany, I'm going to change these handcuffs out. Okay. And then I'm going to roll you over. I'm going to sit you up. All right. Now, I'm going to pick your hands up so you can take these off. Do not struggle. Do you understand me? You're going to sit up at the same time. You understand? 1 2 3. >> Running out into the street screaming for help. Was that pure panic or a staged act to cover up something far more sinister? Moments later, the caller's husband rushed inside Tiffany's house to check. What he found was gut-wrenching. The two boys lying in bed covered in blood but still breathing. That means she didn't finish the job right away. She left them there helpless to die slowly. I got her in my car. She's handcuffed in my car. >> All right. Um, detectives are on the way. So, >> say we still got to pat her down. She got on a dress. I don't think she has a weapon. When you get a second, we can get her back out and let you pat her down quick. >> That's fine. She's locked in there, though. >> On the couch. >> The scene's in there, right? >> Yeah. better >> the neighbors only know two children. >> All right. All right, EMS, go check you out. All right, take this off of step out for me so I can check you out. >> You want to sit on the bed or what? Yeah. Sit down right there. >> There you go. Sit down right there. Turn your feet that way. >> All right. Are you hurting anywhere information? >> Where you're hurting? >> Yeah. I'm going to ask you something real quick. Can you answer me? Do you have any weapons on you? >> No. Okay. When I walked up, he said, "She just killed her kids, man. You better get her out of here." >> Okay. Yep. They got some other motion going on with his wife being pregnant. >> You go ahead and come with me. >> Hop in this car. >> I believe it's going to be ridge. We're still trying to find it. I think it's a disruption. >> Police locked down the house and quickly confirmed no one else was inside. The gun found at the scene. No signs of forced entry. that killed any chance of a self-defense claim. With the evidence stacking up, Tiffany [music] was hauled off to jail, leaving behind a whole lot of unanswered questions. >> I shot myself. >> Huh? Huh? >> I shot myself in the head. >> You what? >> Shot myself in my ear. >> You shot yourself in the ear? >> What's here? Yes, sir. >> I don't see anything. >> There's no there's nothing there. >> Okay. Okay. >> Is it getting hot in there? You need fans? >> No, we're good. You good? Are you hot? Any fans? >> Is it warm or anything? No more. Okay. >> Can you stop? >> Can I stop what? >> All that. >> What's that? What? Flexing my joints. >> Yeah, you keep showing me your fingers. And >> I'm not showing you fingers. I'm sitting here all myself. Take a deep breath. Take a deep breath. Take a deep breath. Take a deep breath. Come on up. Sit up. Sit up. Sit up. Sit. Sit up. You all right? Sit up. Sit up. Sit up. >> H. >> What's going on? >> Sit up. Sit still. Take a deep breath. Just take a deep breath for me. In your nose and out your mouth. >> Stop. >> Move your fingers. >> That's >> I'm watching you on camera. Move your fingers >> several times. Yeah. Move my fingers. How? >> Every time. Go. You keep moving them. Stop. >> Just me. >> No, you're doing it. Go boo go. >> Don't do this. >> Yeah. Yeah, you are. I'm watching. >> So, what is that doing for you? >> It's not right. Stop. >> What's not right? >> You. >> Once in custody, Tiffany's behavior started getting real weird, rambling, erratic, out of it. Officers began suspecting she was under the influence of something. >> She claims I move. I told her I don't I'm not a person that sits still. I move constantly. >> Yeah, I'm I've got that jittery little >> See, soon as you walk in >> Why is it doing that? >> My phone. >> As soon as you walk in the door. >> That's weird, right? >> It's weird. >> It's weird. As soon as people walk, sounds. That's not right. Let me shut this. >> Huh? You want me to shut this? >> It's not right. >> Um, >> see, >> not for right now. >> Every time I say something, your phone's going off. >> Well, I'm going to talk to you today about what happened earlier. Okay. But can can you um can you tell me a little bit about yourself? I mean, where are you from or where you grew up or anything like that? >> I know I look crazy, but I'm not. >> Huh? >> If I know I look crazy, but I'm not crazy. I don't think you look crazy. I'm just trying to, you know, I would, if I'm going to talk to someone, I'd rather know who they are. You know, I can tell you a little bit about me. >> I love my children. >> You tell me a little bit about you. Okay. >> I love my children. I love my boys so much. >> Oh, I know. I wouldn't hurt them, but I just feel like I I I didn't I felt back and I I didn't I was letting them play the video games and I wasn't like focusing how I was supposed to, you know, and they get that video games and the YouTube and the kids. It just messes their minds up to where people can manipulate their parents or do whatever they want. And I feel like someone put something upon my house or me or something like I just don't feel right. I've not like it's been I don't do this. I love my care. >> Her story all over the place. She wasn't confessing she was scrambling looking for a way out. But when detectives pressed harder, the things she said only made them more uneasy. >> Earlier you said something about PlayStation games or something. >> Yeah. What about it? >> I just feel like those games manipulate the children, you know, the YouTube and just haven't you ever heard anything like that before? >> I mean, yeah. >> Like I really feel like it is manipulating for the children and they get into the children's homes and, you know, break the families up. That's what I feel. >> I mean, you could be right. >> I am right. Yeah. >> And I know I'm right. And you do, too. >> Yeah. >> You do. I mean, >> just know >> the stuff that's on the internet that you have access to now is terrible. >> It's terrible for the kids and they need to stop like my kids are beautiful angels, you know, manipulating me through my house, doing stuff to me. >> What are they doing to you? >> Manipulating my mind. Parker Borders. >> H >> his name is Parker Borders. >> What about him? Um, he lives in Bardstown and I'm pretty sure he's been manipulating my mind for like three years >> really >> through my phone, putting up things in my house, like real evil, dark, weird stuff like trying to >> like trying to get you to do things. >> Yeah. Like alter my mind, like completely like flip me. Like I'm a woman of God. I don't do >> Yeah. >> I don't You don't hit hurt your children. You protect them. And I feel like I have to protect my children, >> right? >> How do you pro protect them from a problematic ser in the system? How do you how do you really serve? People aren't serving these days. They money is everything. It's not. I'll lose it all. I don't care. >> I don't care. >> For my kids, I don't care. I just don't I You just You just don't do that. I'm very certain. Don't look my kids in the eye like, you know, I love my kids. Who is this Parker guy to you? Just a friend or >> like a sugar daddy type thing? Okay. >> Feel like it was portrayed off of revenge or something like that, >> right? >> Before I had a friend who was with him and she mysteriously passed away in a car wreck. And then now in my house you'll see there's like things like my car is going to get blown up. All these weird little like how stuff is all set up funny, you know? in my house like that. >> So, I just feel uncomfortable. I don't know. Feel like he I feel like it's him. It's not me. It's not me. I'm right with God. So, I know it's not me. I know it's not in my mind. >> Yeah. >> It's not me. >> Then came the twist. She blamed a man named Parker Borders. According to Tiffany, he controlled her phone, manipulated her, and somehow made her do it. She even claimed the murder weapon belonged to him. >> To [snorts] knock on the neighbor's door to get help, right? Okay. And I guess you've spoke to those people before. You kind of know them. Kind of maybe not real good, but you spoke to him, right? Okay. What was you when you went over there? What were you going over there for? Just to ask for help. >> Yes. >> Okay. So, I'm guessing since you were going over there to ask for help, you had saw that your sons had been injured, right? And were bleeding. You saw that, right? But physically, you're the one who pull the trigger, even though that's not you. And somebody else is pushing you to do that or manipulating you to do that. You pulled the trigger on the weapon. Is that correct? Mm-m. >> It's not correct. >> How did your sons get shot then, huh? >> I just don't know. >> You don't know? >> I have no words. >> How long after your boys were got hurt? How long did was it Did you immediately go next door to ask for help or did you wait for a while or what? How many I need to ask you. I hate to ask you this cuz it's you hurts, but how many times did you shoot each one of them? Multiple times, one time, two times? What? I mean, I'm sorry I have to ask you that. I really am. But I got I mean I had to I got to Sorry. >> I had no words. >> H >> I had no words. >> You don't know how many times you shot him. So I guess you did you just keep pulling the trigger until it was empty or what? >> No, I just don't have anything to say right now. >> Did you Did you leave it in the bedroom? If you left it there, then we'll find it. If you threw it in the woods somewhere, some kid's gonna find it. That's what we're concerned about. Did you leave it in the bedroom? Yes. Okay. Don't you I mean, don't you trust me enough to where I mean, we've gotten along pretty good today. Don't you trust me enough, open up? >> That's all I can say. Hey, I don't know what you >> No, I'm I was just asking you what's on your mind. That's all. >> Hm. >> Just lay your head back down. Be still, Tiffany. Okay. I just don't know what this is. Her family was shattered, devastated by what she had done. And they weren't asking for mercy. They wanted the harshest punishment possible. When the trial wrapped up, the judge delivered the final blow. Two counts of murder, life in prison, no parole. This case is a haunting reminder of just how critical mental health awareness is and the importance of support for struggling parents before it's too late. So, what happens when a mother gets drunk, ditches her kids, and flees the scene after a tragic accident? On September 18th, 2023, Margarita, a mother, set off a chain of chaos, crashing her truck into another vehicle. An hour later, she was reported for abandoning her child in that same truck near a school before disappearing from the scene. And here's what really happened. >> Hi. >> Where's the child? >> Come on back. Okay. >> Oh, sorry. This is mom in the waiting room and we just weren't sure what we were allowed to do or not do. But, uh, the child is with Mr. So, to our counselor, you want me to take you out down there? >> Um, sure. Yeah. >> Let's go this way. >> Hey, um, what's your mom's name? >> Margie. >> Margie. Do you know where she's at? >> No. >> No. She just left me in the car. >> Did she tell you where she was going? >> Has your mom been acting off today or >> in the morning? She was acting fine and now she could she was acting like she went drunk and like came back. >> She was acting like she was drunk >> and she needs to take her medicines for she can like not act bad like that. >> Okay. What medicine does she take? Do you know? >> No. Does your mom usually drink alcohol? >> No. >> You You said if she doesn't take her her medicine, she acts drunk. >> You live with >> So, you live with your grandma? >> Uhhuh. >> What's your grandma's name? >> Ta. >> Ta. Okay. Are you doing okay right now? >> Mhm. >> All right. >> The child's statement confirmed what officers already suspected. Margarita might have been drunk or high. As police tried to [music] piece things together, a new report came in. There was a fight nearby involving a woman. Officers rushed over. >> Come here. >> Me and my daughter moved here. >> Hey I'll call right. >> Okay. >> Um, >> so what was your name again? >> Margarita. >> What was your 20? >> Hold on. Watch out. >> We're at the Margarita. What? >> Well, I have an officer over here. >> Yeah, he came I think when they reported the accident. So, >> okay. Well, I know that's that's grandma >> and she just said that they live with grandma. She did say that was her mom. >> Okay. Okay. >> That left. I guess not. I don't know if Lindy talked to her. She was Lindy was out there with them. >> Okay. >> The principal, she was out there with him and she had talked to her for just a second and then she took off. >> Before we have >> I'm sorry, but can I tell you guys something? >> Can I see the keys? >> They're in the van. >> They're in the van. >> I'm sorry. >> 24. >> My dad >> and them. >> I'm calling now. So, what happened to your face? The child's relatives were unhappy with the school for not releasing her. If >> we find her on 15 for hidden run for >> they they have her. They said she's on abandonment. Who has her? >> I don't know. Ask her 20. I think you said Hill Street. >> But they lied to me. I came. >> My niece is with my mom. So how are we supposed if she lives there without her? Then that's abandon me. And that's not what's happening here. >> Okay. Well, we still have an investigation to do. As far as we were advised, Margarita was in a crash. She left the child in the in the vehicle and she just left the scene. >> That's fine. But the child is in the care of my mother, so she's there to >> and I understand that. And I will go ahead and release a child once once everything is said and done and we figure everything out. >> Leaving a child in a wrecked vehicle, that's dangerous on so many levels. Add in trespassing and it paints a clear picture. She was likely too wasted to take care of her own kid. And that raises a serious question. Should she even have custody? [music] >> The child's staying until until until >> until until everything's fine. We have some things to figure out. The child's not going to go anywhere until then. What do you all need for someone to pick the child up? >> Two ways. So, if she was coming in to just check her out, we're going to look at the emergency card and if they're on the list. >> Okay. >> We also use pick my kid. Each family gets two car tags. They give those car tags to who they want to pick their child up. >> Okay. >> So, >> so she was either on the list or had a car. >> She gave her a car. >> Gary, what's going on, man? >> I don't know. I was just sitting here talking to the post office >> about stolen mail. The girl comes walking from over there. She's She's mumbling words to me, >> right? >> So, I'm just looking at her and then I said, "Is she coming over here?" She walked right up here, but I had to throw my stuff. I had to push her out of the house. >> She came in your house? >> Yes. Look, look. She grabbed me and I was telling 911 she's attacking me. I got to protect myself. >> So, we The reason why I'm here um asking the reason why I'm here with you today is because we were dispatched to the Desert Willow Elementary School. Um, I guess there was a ve there was a collision in the back end of the school involving a white Ford van and another vehicle. >> And your child is inside of the van. >> Not inside. >> Not inside. >> Not inside at all. >> Okay. Well, let's talk a little bit about that. What do you What do you know about that? >> My mom asked me for to go get eggs, ham, baloney, and bread. >> Eggs and baloney bread. Okay. >> Our daughter. >> Okay. which she always gets after um for example school. >> School. Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> Margarita was stumbling, slurring her words. [music] Classic signs of intoxication. Meanwhile, the man whose property she trespassed on furious. [music] He had no clue what was happening. At this point, police had seen enough. They asked her to take a sobriety test. And uh let's just say it did not go well. >> Uh so we took her to school. >> Margarita, listen. So we have your daughter, okay? So your daughter's in good hands right now. >> Where is she? >> She's at the school and your mom is there and your sister is there. >> But listen, what I can smell I can smell the alcohol in your breath. >> And you know what's funny? That's a wave. >> So look, we're going to do some we're going to do some standardized field sobriety tests. Okay? >> Yes. Please do that. And I don't >> So go ahead and step over here with me. >> Oh, you don't understand where I'm coming from. Is this your shirt, man? >> Is this your shirt? >> Yes. >> That's cool. >> Put Go ahead and put your shirt on for me. >> Put your shirt on. >> Do you understand my twin and my daughters? That's my only mother daughter I had cuz I realized it's a lot. >> Yeah, >> it's a lot of responsibility. That [ __ ] my heart. Did you get that? >> Hey, look. The the ambulance is here. M your nose is all bleeding. >> My nose bleeding good cuz that me up. Okay, we're going to have them check you out. Okay. >> Okay. >> Do you want something right here? >> Because >> Yeah, we're we're investigating. Hey, >> let them check you out. Okay. >> Hey, they're relax. >> When I was here, I've been here 9 years ago. Please, baby. >> Okay. Let them let them. >> I introduced him. >> You're bleeding. So let them shut the up to my twin. Introduce her >> mathematics. >> You do not want to understand. >> They're here to look at you. >> Them right here. >> We're going to talk to them radar. I will get them. You will not >> understand. >> Let them talk to you. >> My twin, my family, my daughter that comes first generously. >> Yes, ma'am. Yes. Mommy. >> Officers gave her a chance to cooperate, but instead of calming down, she turned up the chaos. Every move she made just made things so much worse. Look at my finger. Look at my finger. Hey, keep your eyes on my finger. All right, we're going to do the the next test. Okay. >> What's the next test? >> It's the walk and turn test. I want you to go ahead and picture an imaginary line in front of you. All right. Can you do that for me? >> Well, I don't know. All I know my love or my >> Okay. My sister. >> We'll talk about your sister in a little bit. >> My niece, my nephew, my daughter. >> Place your left foot on the line. >> Margaret, place your left foot on the line >> and place your right foot in front of your left foot just like I'm doing. What the the point is this? I told you >> it's to determine whether you've been driving under the influence. >> Yes, I have. >> Okay, turn around for me then. You're under arrest. >> Well, great great. So, my my daughter I have a brighter on her. >> Yes. Sit down for me, please. >> You don't have my back? >> Yes, I have your back. Sit down. Princess. Okay. Sit down for me. Princess, sit down for me. my hand on the seat. >> Well, I can't. >> Why can't you? >> How in the can? >> No. No. Don't put your hand in the seat. >> I have to help me. Come here. Come here. >> Put him back in the back. >> How the do you think I can come here? >> Hey, don't go like that. Hey, you're going to fall. >> Well, then help me. >> You put yourself in that situation. >> Help. It's not my fault. >> Sit down. Come here. >> I am a billion. >> Sit down right there. I am a queen. >> You are a queen. Okay, sit down. >> Yeah. Are you saying that to Mosk? >> Huh? Your step out. >> Say that to those. >> Sit down. Okay, now put your hands over. >> You have what? Give me your hand. >> Say the out of her. >> Hey, stop. >> Say the out of her. The only one I have problem with with you. Mina have a problem with me. I've been like, >> "Yeah, because of my sister." They took her to the hospital for a medical check, but when she got there, she refused treatment and even threatened the medical staff. [music] That was it. She was taken straight to jail, still aggressive the whole way. >> They're over there. Sit down. Don't Hey, I need to put your hand in this cuff. Don't resist. Thank you. Stop. Hey, Marita. I need to put your hand in this. >> Don't Don't yank on it cuz you're going to hurt yourself. >> That's good. And then Just wait right there. Okay. >> Well, how long? >> You're going to kill me. >> Okay. >> Do you think I feel about my mommy and my raising her? Do you idiot? >> 01124. Um, >> if you can send me the entrance info. I'm just eating that. >> Hey, >> relax. >> Relax. >> Relax. >> You're not going to be throwing [ __ ] Okay, we need to relax. >> Okay, blow into the hose as hard as you can for me and then we'll give you some water and we'll let you call your mom or your sister, whoever you need to call. Just blow until we tell you to stop. Okay, >> just blow as hard as you can and then I'll leave you alone. Keep going. >> Keep going. Keep going. [music] Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. >> There you go. >> All right. It's going to be one more time. >> We're going to do that one more time and then we'll be done. Okay. >> Do you see the finger? [music] >> Do you? >> I do. >> I like your jewelry. >> The breathalyzer test told the whole story. Her BAC was way over the legal limit. The final charges: DUI, assault, failure to provide ID, resisting arrest, trespassing, [music] and child endangerment. If convicted, she could be looking at jail time, fines, and mandatory alcohol education programs. When reason collapses, one wrong moment can turn a life into a sentence.
