Owner, owner is not here right now. Sorry. Okay. I'm an ex-disgruntled employee. Oh, okay. Where did the knife come into play here? Huh? Were you chasing him with a knife? Some people get fired because life takes a wrong turn, but these employees didn't just lose their jobs. They blew up their entire careers. >> [ __ ] ooh, woo. Shut up, [ __ ] Dance with me. Shut up. Ow. I want you, bro. Fraud, theft, and tempers that snap without warning, and it all begins with a bitter employee who walked back into the store ready to make everything worse. On January 25th, 2024, in Johnny Rockets, Orlando, Florida, a drunk former employee, 33 years old, showed up at the restaurant on her own birthday to pick a fight with the owner, forcing police to step in. And what happened next pretty much says it all. How you doing? Good. All right. How you Do you want her to leave? Uh Hey, how you doing? I'm great. That was the owner. What's he doing? What's going on? What's going on? What's going on? Why can't I talk to the owner? Uh-huh. The owner is not here right now. Okay. >> I'm an ex-disgruntled employee. Oh, okay. Oh, okay. So, you wanted to talk about your job? No, I wanted to talk to the owner. Yes. Uh-huh. Since I just lost him. Mhm. He was talking to the girl in the same configuration. Oh, okay. Okay. All right. Well, they want you to leave, all right? They want me to leave? Yeah. You got to leave. All right. What's I going to do? Tell me out. No, just leave. I can't just leave. >> You have to leave. Yeah. You have to leave. All right. Let me leave. Well, Can we uh Can we Can we offer you any help? Do you need like Do you need a ride or something? Do you need help? At all? >> need help? >> Yeah, you seem a little drunk. Do I? Yeah. No, I just don't understand. You got a way to get a ride? No, my phone died last night. Okay. All right. I walked here from somewhere else earlier. All right. You don't need a ride, right? It's 465. Do you have an ID on you? Yeah, I sure do. Can I see it, please? You're not asking to. Do you have your ID? I don't I have a debit card. Yeah, I do. Yeah, I seen that's a whole problem. I'm talking talking to the cops. It's the whole side. Lake County. Oh, okay. What's your ID card? How How do we do this? What's your name? Jaylin? Jaylin [ __ ] Jaylin? Jaylin? Jaylin. A few drinks were all it took for Jaylin to walk into that restaurant like it was her personal stage. In her mind, she thought she was running the whole chessboard. Turns out, this wasn't a chess match. And once things moved outside, the situation started getting a lot more interesting. Pick that up. What's your date of birth, Jaylin? Pick that up. You can pick that up now. Pick it up. >> not. Okay. Dig yourself a hole. Hey, pick that up. I got hogtied in Lake County last night. >> in Lake County. Pick it up. >> That's the same, but I used to [ __ ] work here. >> care what you do. Pick that up. I will not. No? Okay. All right. Go and get her Get her date of birth and all that. Tell police it was Jaylin [ __ ] Who did it? Drunk on me, [ __ ] She said, "Shut up, [ __ ] Dance with me." Y'all ain't got to, but I She's smashed if you want to I'm not smashed. I'm just trying to let y'all know to [ __ ] dance. They're running her. Yeah. She's also not going to spell her or anything, so No, I know. >> I'm going off basically what she said. Go ahead and take me and that little >> [music] >> I said, "Shut up, [ __ ] Dance with me." Do you want to pick up her trash? I'm not picking up any Try something. Anybody else here that is not going to do anything? I'm being assaulted. Jaylin? 54? Here's to me. No record out of Florida. Well, I mean, I'm just going off attempting to spell her name. Okay. I'm going to trespass her, man. Yeah. She said, "Shut up, [ __ ] Dance with me." This is exactly why alcohol isn't always the bright idea people think it is. Some folks have a couple drinks and suddenly make themselves the center of trouble. Jaylin didn't just dig a hole. She confidently stepped right into it still smiling right before everything went way too far. Y'all want to be serious about [ __ ] everything? I threw my eyelashes in the [ __ ] tip jar in there. >> That's not my problem. It's not your problem, but it was SOMEBODY LIKE ME'S PROBLEM at one point in time. Not yours. Nope. It was mine at one point in time. Nope. No, because you're better than that. Yep. Yeah. I don't throw my eyelashes in the tip jar. No, I just don't throw my eyelashes in the tip jar. That's all. No. That's all. And normally I won't have the bus boy be helping the server Okay. >> who has two kids Okay. >> and a tip jar. Okay. But you know what? We're out here. Yep. Yes, and you're privileged, you white or whatever you are. I don't care what you are, but you're some kind of Show me as racist. I don't give a [ __ ] and [ __ ] you. Take me, [ __ ] You need a fall here into this [ __ ] cuz he won't do it. He won't do it. Do you have paper in your printer? What's that? Do you have paper in your printer? Mine's done for. I do. So, get rid of me. My kids won't care, right? My children won't care, right? >> out of my face is what's about to happen. I'm right here. That's what we're not going to DO YOU UNDERSTAND? >> ANY LAST NIGHT. I TOOK ANY last night, you dumb fool. Go back to New York. Go back to wherever the [ __ ] you're from. >> Florida born and raised, baby. SAME, [ __ ] 727. 72 By now, it's not exactly a mystery why she lost her job. The charm she believed she had apparently only existed in her own head. And once officers started restraining her, the mouth kicked into overdrive running nonstop with absolutely no brakes. Tell me. You want me gone? Tell me. I got two girls. Tell me. Tell me. >> Don't kick me. I'll kick you. I'll make it go. Do you want to hobble? [music] They wasted they They had Jessie's girl and my Amy's or my Jessie's ass. Can anybody get a What? AND MY AMY'S [screaming] OR MY JESSIE'S YOU FIND OUT. JAYLIN? AND MY AMY'S [screaming] OR MY JESSIE'S FIND THE [ __ ] OUT. LET ME SEE YOUR PHONE. CUZ I GOT [ __ ] TIRED. I'M TRYING TO [screaming] LEARN. I'M SO TIRED. I'M TRYING TO [ __ ] LEARN IF I'M AMY TO JESSIE CARE. YOU'RE [ __ ] TIRED. I'M SO TIRED. I'M TIRED. LIKE >> I COULD BE TIRED. I REALLY CAN'T BE. What's going on? Hey, you. Look at me. Look at me in my [ __ ] eyes. No. Kendall. You try these Kendall, don't do it for her. Go and KICK ME AND see what happens. You catch another charge. You understand that? YES, I DO. YES, I DO. I UNDERSTAND. DO YOU UNDERSTAND? I UNDERSTAND. [screaming] HOLD ON A SECOND. DO YOU? [ __ ] I'M DRUNK AS A SOME [ __ ] LAST NIGHT. YOU ASKED ME. YEAH, TAKE IT OUT. And coffee for my grandma. FOR MY GRANDMA. FOR THEM ALL. WHERE ARE MY DAUGHTERS? SHE'S A YOU DUMB [ __ ] YOU WANT TO KNOW? WHERE ARE THEY AT? COFFEE OUT. 31 IN THE BACK. YEAH, I do IT CUZ I WIPED HIS ASS OFF. YOU LOOK CUZ I WIPED HIS ASS OFF. When Jaylin finally realized she wasn't in control anymore, her reaction shifted straight into confrontation. She started kicking the patrol car window, an impulsive move that quickly forced officers to step in again and restrain her for a second time. You're going to stay right there. Oh, [ __ ] You're fired. I'm going to need a hobble. I'm going to need a hobble. I'll shut your [ __ ] mouth. Save your breath FOR ME, GIRL. >> [screaming] >> I'M GOING TO DO THIS. TRYING TO KICK MY WINDOW OUT. But that's the same thing that I love. You got me up here on the front porch. I just wanted to get a real clear search. Hey, Kayla. >> wanted to get A REAL CLEAR SEARCH ON WHAT I'M ABOUT TO DO. YOU'RE DRAGGING A FEMALE ON the [ __ ] ground, correct? No, I did that. You did what? Dragged the female on the ground? >> Yeah, I put you on the ground. Just get out of the I just you. >> Huh? I just you. Yes, AND I JUST I'M CHASING ON THE [ __ ] ground. It don't feel good. It don't feel good. It don't feel good. I JUST I JUST I JUST YOU right in FRONT OF SO, WHAT THE [ __ ] ARE YOU DOING to me? >> You're going in a hobble. I'm going in a hobble? >> Yep. Yeah. She's vomiting still. Kayla, what we going to do, y'all? I'm right here. You ain't got a phone, Ferris. Can I die on my phone here? We ain't no fish that's trying to [ __ ] swim. We sharks right now, [ __ ] I hope that's nice and tight. >> going to take it. We're going to tighten it. Sit down. You know Get up in there. Instead of enjoying a birthday celebration, Janie ended up spending the night in jail, facing two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting without violence, and disorderly intoxication. After court, she was sentenced to 120 days in jail and nearly $1,900 in fines for one night of partying that spiraled completely [music] out of control. But the career disaster didn't end there because whatever shift Janie thought she had left in life clocked out long before the break ever came. On March 13th, 2023, a Wendy's restaurant. Inside the already overheated kitchen, tensions [music] boiled over when a young female manager confronted a 16-year-old employee. The situation escalated so quickly [music] that police had to be called after an assault involving a weapon. And here's what really happened. You don't want to go? Uh-uh. That's the manager that she She had called. Okay, where's the guy at? All right here. Okay, what's going on? So, I'm a minor. I'm 16 years old. This is what She like 20 something. She like 20 something. So, I'm in a back booth. I'm taking orders. I'm Who is this? That's my sister. And she needs to slow down. So, I'm telling my I'm I'm doing my taking my orders. Next thing you know, she's talking about give me your headset, go home. I said I'm not clocking out because the manager told me I don't have to clock out cuz I ain't doing anything wrong. >> Who Who told you to clock out? The manager. The manager The other manager is in there. So, I said what is the point of this going home for? She's talking about Just calm down. Because I said so. So, next thing you know, she started talking talking about my mama this and that and this and that. And I don't I'm just like this. I'm like do She keeps saying she going to hit me. So, I'm like do it. So, she got a fry thing and she hit me She was going to hit me with it. So, I swung on her. Okay. And did she chase you with a knife? And it was the manager, her name's what? Michaela. Michaela. I'm the manager here, okay? All right. And Timothy, the guy right there. Every day I have a problem with him. I told my general manager Okay. I told my general manager not to put me on the schedule with him. I don't know what it is about him, but he First of all, he lazy. He don't want to work. He don't want to do nothing. Okay. We've been having problems with the system where our orders are not showing up on the screen. We've been hella busy. He back there in the hole where he don't got to talk to nobody. He don't got to bother nobody. He won't even do something as simple as wash the dishes. So, I told him, let me get your finger. I'm going to pull you off and I'm going to let you go home. He's sitting up here. He don't want to go home. He don't want to clock out. He's telling me he's not going to get off the clock until he's ready and all this and that. Just back there talking talking talking. This don't be going on for days and days and days and days. So, I told him, bro, just go ahead and clock out and go the [ __ ] home. You sitting up here talking about your mama this and that and saying your crazy. All this You don't even know me. I'm a grown woman. You are a child and you don't even know me. Managing a fast food restaurant is never easy, but for Michaela, the bigger challenge seemed to be keeping her ego in check, especially when the person standing across from her was just a 16-year-old teenager. I'm talking right here. I'm telling him to clock out. I told him just go ahead and go home. He don't He still don't want to listen. Making a long story short, we end up physical fighting with each other. And who hit who first? Who hit who first? I hit her. I did. I don't call him my parent. I don't call him. I might go to jail. Where did the knife come in the play? Huh? Were you chasing him with a knife? Yes, I went outside because Why are you touching me? Why are you touching me? Now, I know that's not right, but me when I black out, you know how that go. Yeah, you get You know how that go. Where's your ID and all that? I don't have I don't have a car. I'm waiting on my my father to pull up. It's at home, but my name is apparently Sit right there. I'm going to get a seat for you to fill out, all right? This is your legal sister, right? You are 16 years old, correct? All right. Fill in all this information for me and write me a statement what happened. Initial it. You looking? Initial it and sign it, all right? Statement what happened what you told me. Initial it and then sign it, all right? Who got cut? Who's the one that got cut? Okay, have Tell him to come here. Let me see where did you get cut at? All right, do you want an ambulance to look at it? Oh. Okay. They're on the way and we'll just get them to look at you too when they get here, okay? Okay. Are you okay other than that? Yeah, I'm fine. All right. This is going to be going on. She's going to jail. They'll know We'll know more about that in about 4 or 5 hours. Is he going to jail too? He is a juvenile. Yeah. So, that's all I can tell you at this Do you have a juvenile complaint done? It's different for minors. All right. But what But what was being told was sound like she's the predominant aggressor. Yes. So, that's why she's going. She got to You got to sign it by the district Can I'm going to need more I'm going to need everything you told me on camera. I'm going to need you to tell me on We had a physical altercation. What else you want me to put on here? You You told me that you did swing first and that you did punch Once she admitted she had grabbed a knife and stepped outside the store, the entire story took a hard turn. Maybe in her mind it was just a moment of anger, but in the eyes of the law, the moment a knife enters the picture, things become a whole lot more serious. Sit up. Put your hands on your back. On top of that, I'm always the one that's getting into some [ __ ] They need to hold Put your hands behind your back. Put your palms together. I don't call him my mama. I don't call Put your palms together. Put your palms together while you're praying. There you go. Yes. I'll be calling out either calling out more information. Right. Like I said, about about 5 hours. Okay. You got your ID and everything? She don't have one. We got to order one. What's I'm going to get her information to sit and write it down. We'll get it. Yep. Okay, stop. Stop. If you show your tail now, you're going to have more charges. I ain't got no charges. Come on. I'm begging you. So, it look like you got some sense. I'm begging you. So, you have a Sign. Sign right there. Stop. Where it says initial. And signature. Oh, I thought you said something else. Sign the papers. I told you it was going to happen. And you got to You telling me If you get another jail and I've been telling you I've been This is what I've been fearing every day. Yeah, she's fired, period. She's fired. Is your parent here yet? Oh, your guardian. Okay. I need to get your address. I'm okay. It's just something that I'm on. I did what you told me to do. I stayed away. I stayed away. And that's what she started doing, my mama. So, I said, baby, you don't even have a mama. Hey, let me have hers. I got to have so I have her information. All right. And now And listen, okay? Another thing is, you're never to come to Wendy's again, okay? All right, we're going to give you the criminal trespass warning and what that means is basically state that if you come on this premises again for any matter um and you're calling on the premises, you'll be locked up for criminal trespass, okay? Mhm. Okay. We'll give you a piece of paper so at the jail when you with all your property and stuff, it'll be in that paper, okay? All right. All right. Charge. We're going to be doing Aggravated assault. Aggravated assault could be a misdemeanor. One heated moment had now created consequences far bigger than a rough shift at work. Beyond the risk of losing her job, Michaela's response showed a striking lack of maturity. Even at this point, she was still complaining about a sink full of dirty dishes. I'm thinking to work on that criminal trespass. Got you. Come on. Right here. Right. Huh Huh, I can talk to Tristan right there. Yeah, I'll let them I'll let them talk to him when you get in the car. Mhm. Okay, and see when he he'll be able to get that video. Can you sit in there? You got My bad. My bad. He don't want to work. He don't want to go home. He don't want to clock out. He talking about She doesn't My My attitude and [ __ ] and my attitude and It'd be a whole another story if I only had the time. We just don't All that talking and [ __ ] And he talking about people numbers and names and [ __ ] He talking about this and that and people got two mamas and two daddies and [ __ ] My mama don't want to hear all that. Cuz I already better know we in there struggling. He busy as a The order made me to clock out and go home, but he talking worse than that. And then they hit me in the face. I'm in here trying to work. I'm the only manager on shift. We ain't The orders not popping up on the screen. Print says here. What's my right here and the orders ain't popping up on the sealer on that front screen? Huh? My ain't popping up on that front screen where the window is. Yeah, but and then all them dishes back there he What he trying to do? He trying to say that for my dough. I'm the one who got to close and stuff and stuff. Ain't nobody going to be in here all night because you can't do what you need to do on your shift. But you standing up in the window with your ass turned up in the air. So I told I I had My corporate regional and I told me to go home. You telling me you want me to clock out? I can't tell cuz I can talk about myself. But you sitting up there you going up there talking to customers and all with all these dumb hoes. When do you think I'll be able to have the footage and the video? You can have it right now. How about you let me see it right now? Okay. How I mean I can't load it on a disk right Do you need a thumb drive? Do we need to load it onto a disk? Yeah, if you can. Okay then. I will get it done on Wednesday. Sometimes people lose an entire career over one bad decision. For Kayla, it started with a few unwashed plates. But trading that frustration for the possibility of losing her freedom, that's an incredibly expensive mistake. I'm going to be honest with you. Right now I got her on three severe charges. Yeah. Yeah, she's on severe charges right now. >> That's yours. Yes, this is my copy. Yep. I know how to work. I'm a grown ass woman and it's about me but when it's on that you come to work dealing with everything they they [ __ ] All that boiling up the [ __ ] I don't got time for Ma'am, what's going on, baby? I know what's going on. I told you stop putting on the skirt when you [ __ ] hit the fan. There you go there. I told you and like I told him there's no way that y'all could be split. You're a closing manager and he works even though he's in high school. It don't matter. It don't matter. Then you need to have a meeting with you and you need to discuss the [ __ ] that you that you talked about in the meeting with us. And I'm still coordinating that meeting. You see we being short staffed. I'm still trying to coordinate. You just going to have to figure it out, but He said if you ready for an hour They they call you and they tell you one thing and you be telling them another thing. What's that I'm going to be working on this I'm just going to book her in on this computer. About about what? And then once I get the charges passed by the judge, I'll go and redo the video. What charge you got, bro? We got a We got a I can't share that information with you. Uh Who is he? A friend, I guess. I'm not I'm not a manager. Okay. I'll explain that to you when we get down the road. Well, you know my name. You need any money or anything, bro, I got you. I already done told Eric none of that. Still putting Still putting the charges on on a committal. I got to at least so they can have something in the system. All right. Well, we about to get ready to wrap. She goes back, she goes to jail. She's already been warned. He said he'll have it ready on a thumb drive in about an hour. Okay. She was taken to jail and faced a serious list of charges including aggravated assault, first degree child abuse, battery, and deprivation of care. [music] What began as a terrible shift at work ended with the possibility of years behind bars. And after the video spread widely online, let's take a look at what the internet had to say about the incident. I hate when people say I'm a grown ass adult and then proceeded to explain how childish they are. >> [music] >> Unemployable behavior. They were [snorts] both wrong, but she's the adult in the situation. I'd fire both of them. It looks like a dysfunctional workplace. She acts like getting arrested from work is a regular thing. If you had witnessed that chaotic shift, [music] would you try to talk things out and cool the tension or let anger steer the night straight toward a pair of handcuffs? And if you thought getting fired from Wendy's was dramatic enough, just wait until you see this bank fraud case unfold. On April 29th, 2025 in Sandy Springs, Georgia, bank employees called the police after 34-year-old Jewel Tindall walked into a branch using a fake identity to open an account under someone else's information. And here's what unfolded next. Ma'am, can we just talk to you real quick? Sure. All right, can we just go over here? Yeah. This is your stuff right here? Yes. Is that your car right there? No. Jewel, can I use this office real quick? Yeah, sure. Am I being detained or something? Yeah, you are. Why? Is this What is What is your name? My name is right there on my ID. Yeah, I know. Will you tell me your name? What is your name, ma'am? That's my name right there on my Yeah, what What's your name? Excuse me, can I make Can I make a call? No, you can't make a call. I can't go through this right now. Do you not understand this, sir? I cannot go through this right now. Do you understand what I'm saying to you? >> No. We will get there though. I don't want to be detained. I will tell you everything, please. >> out of that car, ma'am. Do not If you flood the car, then you'll be going to jail, okay? Please don't I don't want to go to jail. If you just let me go, please. Okay. Turn this way. Can I tell you something? Turn this The arrest happened so fast that she clearly panicked at the thought of going to jail. But when someone knowingly takes that kind of risk, it usually points to a pretty shallow calculation, choosing the quick payoff while ignoring the long-term price. My baby It's my kids. Ma'am, Ma'am, give me your wrist. You don't have no idea what's going on with me. Can you let me just call my mother so she can get my daughter safe? I didn't let you make a phone [laughter] call, but right now I need you to calm down, okay? Do you understand what's going on with me? You have no idea what's going on with me. You have no idea. You have small ass wrists, good lord. I have no idea what's going on with me. Can I call my mother? I want my daughter safe. We can handle all that for you, okay? I can't breathe. Sir, you don't have no idea what's happening with me. If you could control this situation, if you have any control over this situation, please help me. Just Just [laughter] take a seat. Take a seat. I can't breathe. You just don't have no idea. As you know, once we We have to figure out everything that's going on. Right now, we don't know too much. So she was trying to use somebody's accounts. She's trying to open an account with somebody else's social. That already has an account here. Well, I don't They don't have an account with me. Her name is 99. That's not her card. Could I need I need to make a call to my mother? Could you under We will We will let you do that, but right now Listen. My child. Where Where is your child right now? How old is your child? I have a four baby. Your child is going to be okay. So you guys ran the social. Well, I currently share my social security. Her corporate security ran the social. Yeah. And it came back with a middle name. And what's her name? Adriana Herrera. I can't go to jail. I understand. I can't go to jail. I was such a bad mother, yo. He just went to prom on Friday. My poor baby. He was 16 years old on Thursday. Sometimes officers hear plenty of sobbing, but never actually see a tear. For seasoned cops who deal with these situations every day, the difference between genuine emotion and a reaction after getting caught is usually pretty obvious. All right. Those are phones of yours? Yeah, this is This is all of ours. I'm sorry. >> [laughter] >> All right, let's take this off real quick. Oh. Um you can just unclip it. It's just like It's like a button. All right, this. Yes. Roll the windows down so you can get some air. Okay, just letting you know you are under arrest. Okay. >> [laughter] >> What I just need to read something to you before you start talking again, okay? WE NEED TO LET THE AMBULANCE KNOW. >> [laughter] >> You're all right. You can go. I want y'all to kill me, please. Just Come on. You're all right. I just want you to drive me. Just minutes earlier, she had been calmly explaining banking transactions. Now the scene had shifted into a completely different script as she leaned hard into the role of someone in distress. Because she was already on probation, she now faces the possibility of serving her previous sentence in full on top of new penalties for identity theft. After the footage spread across the internet, many viewers reacted with anger toward her actions. I've never seen [music] someone cry so much with zero tears. If she knew she would be that traumatized by being arrested, she was an absolute [ __ ] to attempt the fraud. She doesn't even know the name on the fake ID she was trying to use. Not the brightest one in the bunch. And what's your take on this woman? Drop your thoughts in the comments below. One fraud case that caught the police's attention, but the next story ends in something far more tragic. On May 4th, 2021 in Tampa, Florida, inside a Dunkin' Donuts located in a Circle K gas station, a dispute over a coffee order quickly spiraled out of control, forcing police to respond. What happened next left everyone stunned. disabled Uh yeah, so first and foremost, let me just say my name is Corio Dejoles. I am the guy you are looking for in regards to this situation. The long and short of it is that here at at obviously at Dunkin' He's a regular. He normally comes through here and orders a large hot coffee, but today I maybe he's having a rough day or something and he decided to be extremely profound at the mouth and I asked him respectfully on the microphone, "Could you please not use that kind of language?" You know, obviously with me and my employees. And as well as that Um and he said no and then he came around to the window. He kept going at the window and then I guess he he was going to come inside, so I came inside or I came on this side to let him know. He asked for the manager. Our current store manager is off already. Um she worked morning shift and she's, you know, currently otherwise here, so I would be for uh the senior shift. I've been here a little bit longer than he has, so I would assume responsibility for that. In any case, I came out to let him know. I said, "Listen, sir, with the the profanity that you used, uh I would highly recommend that you go on about your business. We don't want to serve you any coffee today. Maybe you can try again another day, but you you have clearly upset you feel me? The atmosphere here and we would like for you to go on about your business." I asked him to do that repetitively. It's all on camera. Um and then he As I mentioned, came inside. Um and when he came inside, he addressed me and he was like and I said, you know, "Hey, listen, the manager's not here right now. Um I'll give you the you know, the the manager's store number and all that good stuff." And he didn't want it and I said, "Sir, would you please go on about your business again? Have a good day." And he said, "No, you're a nigger." And then I said, you know, "Sorry. I had a little bit of an issue with it." And I said, "Say it again." And he did and right hook him and he fell down. At first, the man appeared fairly calm, almost like someone who had just dealt with a rude customer. But one crucial detail changed everything. The moment the elderly man hit the concrete floor, the entire legal situation shifted. No. No. No, I agree. Believe me. Believe me. I'm Listen, I'm terrified right now, but I agree with what you're saying. You shouldn't I have had a fit of racism since I've I've only been here about 2 months and I've dealt with so much of it. And I'm not saying that that is a reason to do it. I'm not. I got I got people saying a bunch of hateful and horrible stuff to me every single day for the past like 16 years. I let it go in one ear and out the other. It ain't going to hurt you. This will get you in trouble. It's not going to get you arrested, but I mean, dude, you you hit him and he fell down. Yeah, and he hit his head pretty good. And he should have He should have never said what he said, but guess what? That's the country we live in. You can say what you want to say. If you don't like it, like you're saying, dude, get the freak out. Howdy. Uh gentleman came in was being being very rude to this gentleman, which is the on-duty manager. acting manager for all intensive purposes Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Said some uh few expletives and uh he hit him. He fell. He hit him? Yeah. Do you have his information here or not? I have not. I just came in and >> That's his grandson that's with him, though. Here's Here's the reality of what could happen. Yeah. You charge battery. Yeah, you could be charged battery. Right. You know, that's that's after we speak with him and see what's going on. I'm aware, yeah. Um I'm not trying to get onto you, man. Yeah. No. You can't let and I'm telling you something right now. You can't let what somebody says anger you. Yeah. I said I I deal with it and I let it go on. I mean, people say you know nasty and hateful stuff to him and I just >> Oh, believe me. I I know. I know it. You're going to have people like that throughout your life. You just got to let it go in one ear and right out the other. And And just realize that he's going to leave and be on his way and you're going to still be here working, you know? Once the victim's identity became clear, a 100% disabled man with serious heart conditions, the gravity of the incident immediately escalated. And the most troubling part? The entire confrontation reportedly began with nothing more than a small question. All right. Come on. Your car is But he was just being verbally abusive. Well, verbal. Um I asked him if he wanted ice or hot coffee. He instantly was like likes cold coffee. I want to put it in a He was like "What do you put it in?" Like cold coffee. Um, I always get asked the same Y'all always get it wrong. I'm like "Okay, sir, we cannot hear and identify at the window." So, so he got mad cuz you asked him if he wanted ice or hot coffee. >> Yeah. Uh, instantly off rip he was already mad. It's not going to be a normal reaction. So, he didn't want to He like "What do Oh, he Thank you, sir. Okay, so yeah, he was being really aggressive for absolutely no reason. So, um, Corey got on the mic because, you know, he's the veteran here, you know, the more Sure. So, um, he got took over the mic and was like "You cannot talk to the customer." And he wouldn't listen. So, he said "Okay, you know what we're going to do? Um, we're not going to take your order today. We're going to ask politely ask you to leave." Came up here. We had a verbal um He was right there. So, even after y'all asked him to leave he kept on coming. Came he parked and when you say up there up at the front counter? >> Yeah, he came um to the uh to the car. So, um we knew Corey was going to uh so, me and Corey went up there to wait and tell him to leave again. He didn't want to listen again. So, we asked him to leave a second time, third time, and that's when, you know, he called uh Corey the N-word and it escalated from there. What did you see from after from there? Security footage later showed the employee warning the victim not to repeat the insult. But, when those words were said again the punch came instantly. Even though the responding officer expressed some sympathy for the employee, he made one thing clear. The victim was now in critical condition. Tell me what happened. Um, oh I'm sorry, sir. You're getting wrong. Yeah. Yeah. Um, you told me what happened. I I feel for you 100% right now. I understand I understand the injury and the level of frustration that you're going through too. And this is one of those things that the one thing that's steering us right now is the level of injury. He's in critical condition right now. It's not looking good. He has a brain swelling right now. He's unconscious and everything. So, I'm going to pray for you and for him that he recover. He recover and he's okay. They're not going to feel good. You hear what I'm saying? It's the level of injury. Had he not been this injured there's a lot of things that could have been done. Cuz, like I said, nobody here is okay with what that guy said. And none of us condone it. He deserves to be put in his place. As I say, I I want you to understand that everybody here agrees that what the guy did is wrong. What he said to you is wrong. I'm going to pray for you and for him that he recover. That hopefully go away. Um, but for the time being you're going to be charged with one count of battery on an elderly male which is a felony. You'll have a bond. You'll have to bond out. You'll be able to bond out tonight at some point. And then we'll just pray all of us that this guy recovers and you know, everything will work itself out. You hear what I'm saying? Um, is there anything you have that you want to say to your mom? Um, his mom. That's fine. Mom, you want to step over here and we can grab all of his stuff. A moment of anger may begin with wounded pride, but the consequences are measured by numbers inside an emergency room. And when that happens, the meaning of freedom can change very quickly. Yeah, I've got one in here or if you got one that's fine. As I say, he'll get a bond. Hopefully this guy is out of the hospital. He can get out on bail but I mean I called the State Attorney's Office. I spoke to all of them and it's just unfortunate, you know. I wish the guy had a black eye so he could have said "Hey, watch your mouth." He's from the same family. He's really in a bad condition. What can make it go back to I'm sorry, sir. Sir, we're going to bring everything else out here for you. No, that's it. I didn't take anything else out. That's for mom. Okay, that's it. >> Prayer. Yeah, that's it. Oh, that's it for the pride. Yes. Right. Yes. Corey, do you want to have a seat with Corey or you good? Brother, what what the detective was saying do you 100% agree? Um Got him his head hit hard and everything when they brought him out here he was unconscious. And then while he's up there he's he's not doing good right now. He could get better, okay? So, you go down we'll tell mom. Mom can bond you out. Uh, yeah. You do that and I'll 10-35 you. Um Do they? Okay, that's fine. Um It's just it's just the hope brother that he gets better, okay? I know that was not your intent. It was not. >> It wasn't. I I know that. You you told me that right off the bat. Um, it would have been different if if it if it would have progressed and there'd been more physical after that but it wasn't. But, everything when something happens everything is taken that happens in the entire situation. You know what I'm saying? So, him following, him getting the injury, and being elderly. Again, he could be in the hospital and be completely fine by tomorrow. Okay? Um, but we'll tell mom. Mom will Mom can come down and bond you out. It should be I think a $1,000 bond or $100 The victim died 3 days later from a brain hemorrhage and Corey was arrested on aggravated manslaughter charges facing up to 30 years in prison. In a controversial outcome, the charge was later reduced under arguments related to Florida's stand your ground law and the victim's criminal history. Corey ultimately received 2 years of house arrest and 3 years of probation after the charge was lowered to aggravated battery. So, the question remains, was it worth it? One man losing his life over a cup of coffee that wasn't right and another losing his freedom over a single insult. A moment of anger ended in tragedy and the next person is about to ruin their own day. On November 7th, 2025 in Walmart, police responded to a report involving an employee named Carissa who was suspected of intentionally failing to scan several items at the checkout register including t-shirts and even a single orange. And here's what really happened once officers arrived. You didn't ring it up. That is considered stealing especially if you walked out of the store with it. It doesn't matter >> out of the store. I was in I was in the job. I was in the job. Okay. I was in the job. >> And you guys are ready to go for pressing charges on her and everything. Perfect. Okay, I'm just making sure you didn't under-ring. No. Right, what is the problem? >> What what's your name? >> do anything wrong to What what's your name? Car- Hey, Carissa. Hey, Carissa. If if anything's going to escalate Hey, Carissa. >> have a a right to go to court if anything is right now. Hey, Carissa. Hey, Carissa. >> pressing charges on me for no reason, I'm telling you that I didn't steal those products on purpose. Carissa. I'm going to read you your Miranda rights real quick, okay? So, you guys taking me to jail because I'm telling you that I didn't steal those items. I'm trying to tell you I didn't steal those items and Walmart's supposed to do that. They supposed to ask. They even asked me. Carissa, listen. I will get your side of the story, okay? I just got to read you this first before I can start asking questions and talking to you, okay? That make sense? Okay, do you understand each of these rights? Do you understand each of these rights that I've read to you? No. No, I'm not on your time. I know but Do you understand your rights? Yes. Okay, do you want to talk to me? I'm I'm trying to Do He He's not a cop. I'm a cop, okay? Do you want to talk to me about this stuff or not? What are we going to talk about? Are you just going to just tell me my rights or what? >> all of the incidents. That's what I'm Okay, that's good. You want to talk to me about something or you just want to tell me things that you just told me now? He's like let's go. No, I'm going to get your side of the story is what I'm saying. Do you wish to speak with me? Yes. I don't want to speak with you not in this room. What do you >> same room as someone who just pressed charges on me. And I'm telling her the same thing I just told I'm going to tell you. Doesn't make sense, you know? Okay, listen. This is where we're doing the interview. She tried to avoid staying in the same room as the Walmart employee who reported her. But, the strange part of the story revolved around something almost absurd, a 49 cent orange. And the logic behind the situation started cracking even faster than an orange peel. Okay, cool. All right, so I'll start. Do you have that file in here with you? There's how many total? Five? That doesn't matter. That doesn't matter. If they tell me I'm not banned for life I'm not banned for life. I'm not banned. Okay. Yeah, you were em- you were Listen, you were employed here, right? But, then you were stealing. >> I'm not stealing. That's what I'm trying to tell y'all guys. Okay, okay. I'm telling y'all that the stuff that me and my boyfriend rung up the stuff that they said that we didn't take out the the bag or whatever that the lady said "Okay, do you want it? Do you want to keep this? Do you want to keep it?" Nobody asked me that. >> Did you ever under-ring any of this stuff? No, I Talk about just putting in the bag? >> Right, so you scan one thing but then slip another item in. Did you Did you ever do that? No, I She said that I did that with the shirt, but I could have sworn my program pulling up everything together. >> So, what what about the watermelon with the orange? And then you didn't just scan the orange. >> with the orange, I literally clicked the look up item, the look up thing. You don't have to scan the orange just to look it up. >> I know how that works, okay? I worked in a grocery store. I understand what you're saying. Here's the thing, okay? And she said that the orange is only 47 29 cents, and I can get that for free off my WIC card I got the 15 watermelon. Mhm. So, but that's You understand what I'm saying though, right? No. Because these receipts are going to show the record of what you purchased. No, he take me to jail because they trying to tell me that she trying to press charges because I said I can see once all this further further goes on, I can go to court to see why why was my part not Okay. Here's your transaction here, okay? Right? From the incident on the 4th of October, okay? This shows watermelon, one item, one singular item, okay? >> Okay, why can't I just pay for this stuff and you guys telling me that I took a orange? Like that's just an orange. She kept focusing on the small mistake, almost as if trying to frame herself as the victim, but ignoring the higher value items made the story far less convincing. And the more she explained, the harder it became to save her version of events. Oh, I'm going to steal from my job. And I'm literally got the whole fit on and everything. Like can you just make it make sense? So >> to just steal some orange. That's 49 cents. Right, but you just [snorts] slipped that in the bag, and then there's all the other items. >> Okay, I'm literally on the phone. It probably has so a lot going on that same day that I didn't okay, rung it up and I just didn't ring up the orange. Like y'all just really getting on me about a orange. >> That's still theft. Okay, I didn't mean to take it. So I didn't I I didn't mean to take it. I didn't mean You admit to taking it. >> I I meant to grabbing it that I actually I didn't actually ring it up, but I did just okay, I'm just going to take this and put it in the bag. So, you weren't stealing? I weren't stealing. I was buying stuff, so why would I just end up stealing? >> You just said I just said that if I'm going to buy stuff, why would y'all assume I'm stealing it? >> What you just told me on body camera about the orange Right, about the orange. Taking it. I said if I were going to take the orange, I would have just took it. I wouldn't come to my job just to take it. That's what I'm trying to tell you. Okay, yeah. Do you understand what I'm trying to tell you though? You said I didn't ring it up. >> It's not on there, is it? >> telling you. I Okay, cool. Maybe I was on the phone and I forgot to ring it up. >> So, you forgot to ring up the orange. So, it's still theft. Okay, perfect. Thank you. >> I forgot to ring up the orange. Okay. I'm literally on the phone talking on the phone as I'm ringing up stuff. Okay. Like what the heck? And those items that you forgot to bring up some other items that's stolen, those other items, those weren't there. I paid for those items exactly how I got them. Ramen noodles? Exactly how I >> A 47 cent pack of ramen noodles? Here you go. Here's the t-shirts. So, you just accidentally forget to scan a big box of t-shirts. >> forgetting to scan a lot of stuff. >> Oh, that's perfect. Thank you for just admitting to everything. >> NO, LIKE LITERALLY NOT JUST AT THIS JOB. I'M NOT STEALING. WHEN the officer pointed out that her own words had essentially turned into a confession, the attitude shifted instantly. Her voice jumped from calm to shouting, a familiar sign that the argument had ended and resistance had begun. Karissa, listen, do you have anything else Do you have anything else you want to say about any of these incidents? Why would I Why would I have to say anything else? Because you just said You just admitted to everything. No, you're bringing up I admitted to stealing at Walmart, period. This [ __ ] is pissing me off. Do you want to talk to me like an adult? >> to talk to YOU CUZ YOU'RE TALKING TO ME RUDE AND YOU'RE NOT TALKING TO ME NORMAL. YOU TALK TO HER NORMAL AND YOU RAISING YOUR VOICE AT ME. BEFORE I EVEN STARTED TALKING TO YOU, YOU EVEN STARTED TALKING TO ME RUDELY. KARISSA. >> That's not how you talk to somebody. Because when her boyfriend showed up, the situation became even more complicated. Uh you got to go through the back door. Just do it. No, I'm not GOING TO PUT NO CUFFS ON YOU AND THEN TRY TO TAKE OFF YOUR JACKET. NO. >> YOU'RE NOT GOING TO KEEP SCREAMING like that, okay? >> No, you're being rude. HE'S THE ONLY one being calm, bro. Karissa was charged with retail theft and resisting an officer, while her boyfriend faced charges for obstructing identity verification and resisting as well. What started as a bad day at Walmart ended with police escorting one of its own employees out in handcuffs. On February 16th, 2025, inside a healthcare facility, police were called after an argument between two female employees escalated into threats of violence, disrupting the overnight shift. What happened next quickly drew everyone's attention. Hello. >> Hello, hello. Are you a nurse? So, I'm a nurse. Okay, what's going on? So, um female was was having an argument. Like now. And I told them we're not going to do this here, bro. We're not I mean, louder than it was. You're not going to do this here. Mhm. I said get Never stop. Won't stop. Kept going on and on. She's all the way on this side, so she's coming over here to mix with this girl twice. Mhm. First time I let it go, they're women, I let them handle it. Second time, come on now. All right. So, I said, "Hey, you're not going to stop, you can clock out and go home." Mhm. That's when the threats start. She's going to whip my ass. She's going to do something to me. She's going to catch me out. So, I called the uh called the administrative DON. You got to go. All right. She She stayed here. She a resident here? She's No, she's a resident. Oh. She's staff. Okay. Yeah. And And who was she arguing with? Again? She started off over here with me, but I wasn't arguing with her. She was arguing with me cuz I'm looking at the person that posted me on the hall working with drunk and stuff. Telling me don't be calling nobody, mind my business. I don't even work here. I'm Told me you what? I said, "Yeah, [ __ ] with your ugly ass." Oh, I'm going to let it all out real quick and then she said I'll go get your go get your grandkids. Me and she wants to fight. So I'm like I ain't got to go get my grandkids. Why do I need to go get my grandkids for? Okay. So she's she's threatening the people actually. I don't I don't play I don't have my license Lawanda. You know her last name? I don't know but she's over there. So basically she just walked She got white and black weave in her hair. So basically she just she just needs to go home. >> Yes. According to witness statements, the suspect didn't simply react in the heat of the moment. She walked over to another area on purpose to confront the other employee. It looked like she believed she was directing the entire scene. But in situations like this, the people who usually write the final chapter are the police. Is one of you Miss Lawanda? Are you Miss Lawanda? Miss Lawanda, they want you to clock out for today and just you know leave. I know there was an altercation that happened over there. At this point in time, we're just going to have you you know we don't want to we don't want it to go any further than it already has. We don't want any more hairs to be split than than already been split. So at this point we're just going to have to ask you if you would be able to get up, clock out for the day and leave for us. Can I say something? Can I say this? Sure. Sure. A nurse asked me to go home. Well they here's here's the deal. Like we have no she she listen listen listen Listen to me. Listen listen listen listen. Listen to me. Listen to me now. Listen. Listen to me. I'm speaking. Okay. Yes because the nurse told us that she called management and management said to call the police and ask her to clock out. Okay. So that's management has been contacted according to the nurse. And they've asked you to clock out and leave. You can call management tomorrow. Okay. We have no no say in in of this other than if you refuse to leave um and if management wants to sign a complaint for criminal trespass that that would be the next step. We don't want to do that. We're simply asking you to clock out. You can get in touch with management tomorrow. Explain your side of the situation to management and and go from there. Okay. Not not saying you're going to lose your job over this. I've no no idea. I would say I would call management tomorrow. Explain your side of story to them um and and go from there. Maybe they can come up to a resolution um if it's just one employee you're not getting along with, maybe you guys are put on different shifts or uh one employee gets transferred or you guys decide to work it out and you're able to work together at the same time. Who knows? So that's where we're at. If you'd like to tell your side of story that's perfectly fine. I you know we can listen to it but um it's it's not going to affect you staying. The responding officer tried to keep things calm suggesting she simply speak with management the next day. A fairly lenient solution. But the moment officers began asking for her personal information, the conversation started shifting in a different direction. I don't like saying you've been been terminated or nothing like that. They're just management has told her to call the police and ask you to clock out for your shift and I said I would call management tomorrow and explain your side of story and uh go from there. This is essentially a for right now a civil issue between employees and if it doesn't turn criminal if you refuse to leave. And we certainly don't want it to go that way. So And you have to where do you have to clock out at? Are you just going to uh walk leave? You refuse to provide your information to us? Um it's obstructing identification and a warrant will be issued for your arrest. So you can simply just give your name that name and date of birth. >> refuse to give you all your information or did I ask you why are you asking for my information? >> Get in Which one is it? Did I refuse to give you my information or did I Step back. Why do you need my information for? So did I say no? I'm not giving you my information or did I say why? Okay. It's time to go. A warrant's just going to be issued for your arrest. You're going to act like this, you're all on camera. All your actions have been on camera. What am I doing on camera, love? What am I doing? Tell me what I'm doing. All you have to do is provide your information like he asked. It's simple. It's simple. You're getting in my face and asking for your name. I'm not doing anything. I'm not yelling. I'm not I'm not aggressive. Am I offending you? Unreasonable for you to get in my face. Unreasonable. Unreasonable. Look, I'm just going to show you, okay? When you go like this to somebody, that's showing aggression, okay? I understand what you're saying. We're just going to document what we did here. Are you willing to give us your name? Y'all got my name. What else you need? Don't have your name. Your name your your last name. We have your first name. That's all we have. Last name? Okay. Can you spell your name for me? L O All right. Very good. Thank you. Thank you, ma'am. Officers decided not to arrest her immediately at the hospital hoping to avoid escalating the situation in a sensitive workplace. But that didn't mean the story was over. After she left, they began confirming the threatening statements that had been reported. I know you guys kind of have a argument. Did she uh physically threaten to fight you here at all in any way like No she she did she did >> did it to me. She just told her my grandkids so you know Okay. Right and I told her I don't got to go get my grandkids. I said you I said don't come near me. She said if I want to come near you I'll come near you. I said no. I said you need to just go. Mhm. And she's like no I ain't going nowhere. I said boo. I ain't got time. Boo. Like you know I'm too grown for this. Right. Exactly. And you're at work. Did she threaten to to fight you at all or Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. What Okay. I DIDN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO. I WAS JUST I mean we were at work. Right. >> And it's just like keep it down y'all you know we can't do this here. Right. Yes. Exactly. She didn't want I can't allow you to do this. Right. Are you wanting any any criminal charges against her at all or Yeah. What What exactly did she What exactly did she say to you? She told me she going to catch her outside and beat her ass. Beat her ass. That's what she said. Um if if you want to we can charge her uh with disorderly conduct. You can I'll get you paper to fill out, okay? You can stay inside right here. When you guys have to let me inside the Okay. Yeah. If you guys haven't done so yet either, uh let management know that you called us and No I told [laughter] them. I I said them when I'm hanging up I'm literally I'm going to call I'm going to call her. She said what what she told me what she say? Don't call 911. Call the non-emergency. For the health care staff, the morning ended with signatures on a formal complaint. The suspect walked away with a bruised ego while officers began completing the paperwork. A familiar step before a case moves toward [music] court. Hey you going to be working tomorrow by chance? Yeah. Yes. Tomorrow night? Maybe? Um We got your front I'm out all out of those forms. Uh I forgot to print some more out. So we'll come by tomorrow night. What time you work? 7:00 to 7:00. Okay. We we work 5:00 to 5:00. So we'll we'll come by. And I'm here tomorrow too. Okay. Um 3:00 to um 11:00. Okay. We'll just essentially um issue her a citation for disorderly conduct with a court date. Would you be able to look her up in the system and just double check she got she gave us the right name or or no? She gave us Lawanda Smith. Cuz I mean the BON didn't even know her last name. She was asking me. Management would would have it though, right? Correct? Yes it's Lawanda L A W A N D A. And Smith. Okay. Just checking. All right. Like I said if if there's any issues uh this morning, like if you guys see you know what car she drives if you guys Well if you go out to your car in the parking lot she gets out of her car and starts stuff again, call us immediately. Come back in here. Um call us immediately. And uh someone will be back out. Okay. All right. So we're we'll give her a court date for disorderly conduct and then uh uh you know hopefully management takes care of the issue. Okay. So All right. Then we'll we'll swing by tomorrow and get that. In the end, the woman faced a charge of disorderly conduct. If convicted, she could face up to a $500 fine and 6 months of probation. Penalties that could seriously impact her professional license in the health care field. So what do you think? Were the officers too lenient by letting her drive home instead of arresting her on the spot after those threats? After one dramatic escort out of the workplace, the next story reveals a sophisticated fraud scheme inside Nordstrom. On November 12th, 2024 in Nordstrom, Boca Raton, Florida police were called after a long time employee was suspected of carrying out fake return transactions to send luxury items like Chanel and Dior to her own home. And here's what actually unfolded. at her all the This whole investigation started during the time of the fraud. Um two of the fraud Okay. that was used with her employee discount and without her employee discount which flags in our system as suspicious. How long ago was that? That was September 29th. So that was the first incident. Yeah. Later that day during a video review, we see that she selected five pairs I would say too long cuz I want her to hear all She selected five pairs of jeans. Yeah. Upstairs brought up now upstairs. Goes up to the register screen. You see the register screen is is blank. >> [clears throat] >> She starts scanning the items. She has to go in and click her stuff in if you're going to sell something. >> Yeah. She does none of that. She just scans the item, takes the sensor off, puts a little sticker on it, puts it in the box. Boxes up several pairs of jeans, roughly 12 pairs of denim. Do you solemnly swear that the statement you give will be the truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth, so help you God? Yes. We're here today because of an investigation that took place about an employee that works here. Could you uh explain to me the the origins of the investigation and and what transpired as the investigation unraveled and what did it reveal? Yeah, of course. Um so, we started working with a new um exception-based reporting system. So, what when looking into that report on Friday, November 1st, we discovered a um transaction where a receipt was not utilized. Looked into it um and then we pulled footage and we can see that Sally Kutcher is processing a return on September 29th. Um and there was no customer, there was no merchandise present. When looking into it further, it's for a Coco Chanel fragrance. Um Sally later on that same day on September 29th, um she packaged five pairs of denims and two long-sleeve shirts. We have her walking into the building that day on September 29th, which was a Sunday, coming in from her shift at 12:00, walking in um and immediately starting selection of the five denims [clears throat] on the shop floor. Um she then makes her way down with the product um maybe a few minutes later, so she comes in at 12:00 and is already downstairs in her handbag department by 12:11 p.m. On the store's CCTV cameras, the suspect didn't look like just another employee. She moved like someone completely at ease with the barcode scanner. But what she didn't realize was that the system had quietly been tracking those transactions for quite some time. Why would she do that? So, she knew she was on camera and she wanted to show that she was doing it. Possibly for that. I mean, she never admitted to saying like I know I'm on camera or anything like that. Um it's to get free merchandise essentially in the end. Um and what she would do with those um with that package is that she would send it out to our dock area, which is where we um keep our we call it COGS, customer owned goods. So, those are items that then get shipped to customers' homes. Um we have a process in place where we're supposed to bag check employees and we're supposed to do package checks for any purchases that they make. Um so, that is a loophole into that essentially. Okay. Um upon further investigating her, we realized that on October 1st, [clears throat] she utilized a gift card from the original fraud refund where there was no customer, no merch present for a purchase with her discount included on that. A few hours ago, we wrapped up the interview admission upstairs, so I started it off um with that and then Neil um helped um close out the interview. Um in the interview statement, um Sally Kutcher was um it it took her a while to open up to anything. Um she was giving a lot of pushback saying that she has a lot of mental issues um and that she can't even remember what she ate this morning. Um so, that it would be very difficult for her to even remember what she did on Saturday. Um but she did at least recall the three items, the SKIMS and the two Dior fragrances that did go inside of that box. Did she admit that she mimicked that she had make any kind of admission to the to doing anything improper or illegal with those with those things? No. Um so, what she had mentioned was, "Oh my god, did I forget to pay for those items?" Um so, that was kind of like her statement to us and Okay. she swears that she pays it that she paid it. She swears that she has the money for it. Um we asked her why those items were being shipped to her cuz essentially she was saying that this is for a customer for her um and she said that she's shipping it to her because this customer lives three houses down from her and then she personally like hands deliver it to them and that customer will pay her um for that merchandise as well, too. So, it's kind of like a handoff so that the customer doesn't essentially need to come into store. The loss prevention team simply did what they're trained to do [music] and the pieces slowly started falling into place. But when it came time to speak with store security, the woman began telling the story a different way, one where she somehow became the victim. I'm going to warn you before you make any statements to the following constitutional rights. You have the right to remain silent and to answer any questions. Any statement you make must be freely and voluntarily given. Any statement can will be used against you in the court of law. Do you understand these rights? >> Yep. Okay. So, obviously you work for you used to work for Nordstrom, right? How long did you work here for? 3 years. Okay. Um they brought to my attention that there's been some transactions, right? >> Yeah. Tell me what happened. Stuff got shipped to my house that wasn't paid for. Jeans and perfume. Okay. And what was the reason for that? It wasn't intentional. It just happened I work here. I was doing a bunch of stuff. I I thought it was I was waiting for my college spring gift. I didn't So, I ended up sending it and it never got paid for. Okay. It happened. Okay, but hear me out. You've been working for 3 years, right? >> what you're going to say. I get it 100%. Yes. My head is not in the best of places. That normally doesn't happen, right? When you ship it to your own address. >> 100%. Okay. It's been a been a been a rough go at it. So, yes, I get it. You're 100% right. I accept it. Um what did you tell the your employer about it? What did you tell them? It doesn't It's just at this point it I'm going to pay it back and there's it's no point in me not getting the job. It's it I'm moving on and that's like it is what it is. Okay. It wasn't It wasn't done on purpose. It wasn't thought out ahead of time. It wasn't maliciously planned. It wasn't something that I schemed to do. So, back in September, what's the reason why that you uh I guess had that transaction and it basically got flagged, right? Got flagged in the system as some sort of suspicious theft. So, what was that about? Like when you're going through that transaction, go through you know, walk me through the mindset. >> you know what? It you you do the transaction and you could send something after the fact. Usually I pay for I pay for our stuff and then when as an employee you send it I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you. Can you go back? You buy stuff as an employee one way, then you have to hold it and then I you just you put it in and you can send it after the When the explanation of forgetting to scan the items collapsed under the weight of 3 years of retail experience, the story shifted again. She now described her actions as helping customers, not stealing merchandise. Um and then the second incident, right? What what was that? Same thing. Same exact occurrence and it was last week. I think she said yeah. And what happened with that? It's the same exact thing. I was buying something to somebody else and I ended up shipping it out. For the supposed to be in the morning, shipped it out in the afternoon. Um It's just the same situation. When you're very busy, it just But when you work for 3 years, you kind of know what the rules are >> It's It's seems that way, but things are always changing. Yes, it should be that Okay. And at some point, did you return those items back to the store? No, but I'm going to pay for them. Did you return anything? No, I didn't even I didn't even realize they weren't paid for. Did she try to make a return or something with the gift cards? Um so, there was a um a refund done that didn't have a receipt or or customer present. Um was refunded on a gift card. It was later used with her discount. Okay. Could you explain that? That was a I have a neighbor who's a customer here. He is she's one of the bigger customers here. She came in twice to return a full bottle of Coco Chanel. She didn't have the proof of purchase. I said I can't take it back without the proof of purchase. That's our policy. So, she found a proof of purchase. I said the best I can do is a one accommodate time accommodation on a gift card. She said she would take that. She said you want the gift card. I said I'll take the gift card on there all the time. She gave me the cash. I kept the gift card and I gave her the goods. On September 29th, you're making this return, right? >> lives she lives in my community, so I said I'll just go get I'll bring you back the gift card. Okay. And then use your employee discount, right? In reference >> And on a different purchase, not on that. Like that was her purchase, paid for at full. The gift card I bought from her and then I bought stuff. What did you return? Did you just random items or was it items that you utilized? >> Okay. And she made that purchase when? She says it was 6 to 8 months ago. If they can If she can find some kind of something that shows it, we'll do a one accommodate. And where does your neighbor live? She lives a couple houses down in my new complex. Okay. And this address here is showing not even in Where do you live anyway? Do you live in Florida? Mhm. Okay. That That address shows somewhere in New York. She goes to 62nd number. Okay. So, where is What is her address then? In Boca? In Florida, yeah. That I don't know. That's why I sent it to my house. Okay. Sally claimed she shipped the items to her home in Florida so she could conveniently pass them to a neighbor. But the records pointed to a shipping address in New York. Once that detail surfaced, her explanation became much harder to defend. Um in this transaction, she says she's shipping it out. Is that normal what you guys do? Um so, we do COGS, customer owned goods sent. So, that piece is, but there's no valid transaction here. So, she's mimicking a transaction. The um the register was not signed into. She is scanning. She is doing all of that process, removing sensors, but no transaction registers. Okay. So, basically that transaction does not exist. Yeah, she's faking the movements. Okay. And then when she ships it out, is there a shipping label, all that stuff attached? Um there is this stuff printed out for us. But it's not a transaction. It's just a um confirmation of where the items are getting sent to. Okay. But when normally when a customer Mhm. when an employee purchases things, they don't really ship to their house, right? Unless it's like a gift for somebody else. They can get shipped to their home, yes. Is that a normal thing people do? Yes. Okay. And then but in that procedure, you still have to go upstairs, right? And get approved by another employee or supervisor, right? To make that purchase? If it's >> Cuz you can't purchase yourself. >> Correct. If it's an employee-related purchase, any of our employee-related purchases have to go upstairs. We have a shelving where those items get placed. Okay. What What Give me an idea. So, what I'm I have nobody to pick her up. I have no place to take her. Do you want to make a phone call? I'm trying to call somebody so I can get an idea. So right now you're under arrest, right? You're not free to leave, right? You're going to be doing some paperwork with me at the police department. After you're done with there, you're going to go to county jail and get released from there, okay? Okay. All right, so I'm going to gather [clears throat] as much information as possible so I can make this process smooth because obviously you want to get home to your to your daughter, right? Well, you want to [clears throat] your family. So I'm going to do my best to make sure that this goes smoothly, all right? You have any questions in the meantime? Can you follow me to bring her my car right now? >> cannot do any of that stuff, okay? Right? So again, this this officer here is going to pat you down and make sure you have no weapons or anything on you, all right? All the jewelry, all that stuff needs to be taken off, put in your bag. That will all go with you up to county jail, right? As of right now, again, you're under arrest, right? For um the theft of the organized scheme to defraud, okay? So just Do me a favor. Stand up. Get patted down by this officer. And we'll we'll work with you. We'll we'll Let me take these. Let's do a simple pat. Officer, I'm a Calm down. Take off the bracelets. Relax. In the end, the woman was taken to jail and charged with two felonies, grand theft and organized scheme to defraud involving merchandise valued at $1,788. If convicted, she could face fines up to $3,000 and as much as 3 years of probation. And if you thought the Nordstrom scheme was bold, just wait until you see how $30,000 suddenly disappears in the next story. On May 17th, 2024, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Michelle arrived at the probation office for what was supposed to be a routine check-in, but her long record of embezzlement, fraud, and suspicious transactions dating back to 2021 had already caught the attention of authorities. And here's what unfolded next. 1152772 What is your name? Michelle. You know Uh affirmative. Um can you tell me what the warrant is for? It's um it's for theft. I'm sorry. Can you show me the female 15? It's um no bond for larceny. Uh maybe new charge. It's a charge. What's larceny? Do you mind if I look in her? Go for It would be in the middle one. Is it fine if you leave that stuff in your vehicle? Um yeah. Oh, okay. I guess she did give it to me. Okay. Who who are we calling and is somebody coming [clears throat] to pick your vehicle up? Yeah. Are they a licensed driver? Yes. Okay. Who are they? Um my friend George. Your friend George, okay. So George does George have a picture ID? Yes. >> With him, okay. So when you call him, he's you're going to need to tell him all that. Um the only condition we have is you speak to him on speakerphone. >> That's fine. Okay. Hey George. Yeah. I'm at the the probation office and there was a warrant for my arrest, so I'm going to jail. Yeah, right. I swear to god. So they're the officers are right here. You can you can talk to them because you're on speakerphone, so you can tell them or whatever. But can you come over here? You need to bring a driver's license, a photo ID, and pick up my car. What what do you have a warrant for? I don't know. I'll call you when I get to the jail. >> What's um What's What is the What are we talking about right now? Um Picacho right next to AutoZone. She seemed busy putting the pieces of her outside life back together as if everything was still under control, but within just a few hours her world was about to shrink to the size of four walls inside a jail cell. Can you come get Can you let Sierra know that um I have I I came to check in at probation and they took me to jail, but um I think I'll see the judge on Monday. And um just so that way she doesn't get rid of none of my stuff and then can you just make sure that all my stuff in my um in the in my car and everything is good. Yeah. No, cuz I No No, cuz she I paid for it cuz I had all my points, so I'm just Okay. I just talked to her to tell her to get rid of anything in there cuz all my stuff's in there. And then um if you can just pick up pick up the car. Can you come now cuz they're getting ready to close? Okay, thank you. And then um they'll have my keys and my wallet will be in my um my purse. Like they can just give them the keys and give them the wallet. Yeah, you just give me I have my little wallet with my IDs and then um my keys. Hey, can you do me a favor? Yes. Will you text Orlando or call him and let him know too, please? I don't have his number. Okay, never mind. I'll call him when I get to jail. All right, bye. Bye. Thank you. I appreciate it. Mhm. You got to turn it off here. >> [clears throat] >> So another thing, is it fine if I go ahead and take off the earrings and then your I'll let you take it off. We can take off your jewelry and then leave it inside the vehicle or leave it with them to take it as well? That's fine. Which one Which one do you prefer? Um you can just leave everything right here together. Just the wallet. Um and then we can just put the my earrings Do you have any cash or credit cards, debit cards in here? My wallet, my credit cards, my debit cards You have a confiscated property form or get one from Quintana. It's my There's three debit cards. The reason I'm asking is because we're going to document every single one of these. That way when your friend signs, he's signing that he's taking everything that we have in here, okay? To include your earrings, all that good jazz. Your phone as well? Yes, that's fine. No, is he taking your phone? I'll take your phone. Uh let me take it cuz when you make phone calls, people don't remember their phone numbers. Oh, it's very Yeah, that's pretty stupid. We always get calls for people picking us up. We tell them that. >> [laughter] >> So I'll take your phone with me. I appreciate it. Thank you. >> Okay. When you take off my these, can I put my hair back with my hair tie? Yeah, I'll go ahead and You have a hair tie on? Yeah, it's on my my wrist. Okay, that's fine. Go ahead and stand up for me. >> Just leave it on her side. This is soft. As things started falling apart, she suddenly admitted to having an addiction, almost like throwing out a lifeline, but from a legal standpoint, that admission didn't fix anything. If anything, it only made the situation more complicated. I want to start off I mean You're just trying again. I know I was dirty, but I'm not I didn't want to [snorts] come in here lying to y'all coming here. I appreciate it. And I know that last time it was a [ __ ] show with me. Right. But please understand that I was really bad. >> No, we're not going to hold it against you. We're We just want you to do right this time. Yes, ma'am. I was really really bad on meth. I would do all my court appointments, [snorts] you know, but Sign today's date. All right, take your earrings, jewelry, all that good stuff off. I'll take my earrings off and how long? Is there anything inside your pockets? Do you mind if while you're right here fold them inside out real quick? I don't see no bulges, but perfect. Sign the paper already? Yes, sir. We're good with the signature form. I'll take the earrings off. >> I'm sorry. I forgot. That's okay. And then he's going to he'll come pick me He's at work right now. He's just down the street, so he's Is that feel comfortable like that or you want me to put two? No, you're fine. It's fine. Cuz when you sit down also, it's going to hurt. No, it's okay. Okay. All right, there you go. We're going to start All right. Step out this way. Take a right. Michelle, as soon as you're released, I need you to come right back here. Okay. I'm actually on the phone with her. Thank you. And Hey, is this the exit? Yeah. I got to go through cuz I remember there was a gate now. Probably a little more secure. I got it. And what side should you be on? Tell them this side. And then my car is My car is right there. Okay, no worries. So you had asked what larceny is. So that's the theft of anything of value. Even while claiming she had nothing to do with the company's finances, Michelle was accused of accessing the banking information of CD General Contractors. From there, investigators say she carried out 18 personal transactions totaling nearly $3,000 covering everything from AT&T bills and credit card payments to Amazon balance reloads. I believe so cuz it's already about 5:00. Courts are closed. Yeah. And then they'll either set you up a bond or set you up with something and then get you out of this. Get you a new court date. The only thing is, of course, don't miss your next court date. So before we do anything, there are other weapons. I know you already answered your pocket, but there's nothing else that's concealed. I'm not going to search you, but just so I can let the detention center know. So your charge was larceny for withdrawal from an account of another without their consent. On May 6th is when you were charged with this. Yes. Correct. It was from a business, I guess, that you used to work at? That was back on June 28, 2021. That's when you had work. Oh, no, no. Sorry, it was May 6. Uh May 6, I guess, of 2021, though. A local construction company? When someone is facing so many accusations that even they can't keep track of what they were arrested for, it's usually a sign things have gone far beyond repair. At that point, the ego-driven game starts running out of moves. What was that for? Oh, for what? For something different? Well, that's good. At least you're clean. Oh, well, yeah, that's good. You weren't with him at that The guy who was there, what? Say it again? It does get a little hot in there. Let me sit down right now. >> [snorts] >> Just face the wall, ma'am, so you can just take off your vest. You can loosen your arms. In the end, the woman was taken to jail and charged with theft and fraud. With an extensive history of financial crimes and committing new offenses while already on probation, she now faces a potential sentence of 5 to 10 years in prison for the felony charges.
