You're not providing your ID. >> I'm nervous right now. >> Okay. >> Do you have like a warrant or something? cuz like we can take care of that. That's not hard because you have to survive and you keep walking up. >> That's what we do, ma'am. On a traffic stop, we walk up. >> I didn't do any I didn't do anything wrong. How can you prove that? >> It's on my LAR gun. >> I do. >> It's called probable cause, dear. That is the standard that we have met today. Yep. Probable cause of a traffic infraction. I've only seen him a few times. I hear they're rare. >> What's that? >> That's correct. >> Oh, because you're refusing to provide your identification. So you would have to stole my car for nothing but I didn't even >> No, you did not provide your identification. That is what you did do. >> Which car did you say that? >> I believe she said you were speeding. Is that correct? >> Instead of providing your ID and uh possibly getting a speeding ticket, you're now your car is now getting towed. >> She showed signs of being one of those so-called sovereign citizens, insisting cops had no power over her and flat out refusing to show ID. When she learned her car was about to be towed, she panicked and started calling her family for help. The situation escalated so fast backup had to be called in just to keep things under control. >> Man, this could have gone completely different. That was on you. And there's not no reason. You say that I >> You You say you didn't do anything. >> You said that I was >> I did say that and you were >> I was correct. >> Yes. 53 and 35. So I was doing 53. So everybody was doing 53. >> And she's admitted to speeding now. It's impressive, >> right? Correct. >> No. Very. >> So I was the only one. She's calling her calling her family. >> Time to uh move her from the car. 13. >> You're you're failing to provide your ID at a lawful traffic stop, which is a crime. >> Okay. So, you can either you can either roll the window down or I will break it. >> Okay. So, ma'am, you've been given plenty of opportunities here. You are you going to provide your ID? >> Are you going to provide your ID? >> Are you serious? Absolutely. Are you going to provide your ID? >> What did I do wrong? >> Speeding. Speeding was the reason for the traffic stop. >> Are you going to provide your ID? >> Are you going to provide your ID? Okay. I've asked you several times. You refused to answer. You need to step out of the car and we are going to have a civilized conversation because what you're doing right now it's the most and it's not going to end well for you. >> She claimed the driver had threatened her life by speeding. But the irony, the person refusing to get out of that supposedly dangerous car [music] was her. And the contradictions didn't stop with her words. They ran straight through her behavior. >> This lady is being the most >> He hasn't heard me out. Not one second, officer. The only thing he's listening, >> he has a right to end the ride. >> He has no right to take. >> I have the right to press charges. Explain to me. >> I've asked you to step out of the car. I've asked you to step out of the car. >> Officer, let me talk to >> You haven't let me press charges. What do you mean? >> Talk to this officer. >> We don't know. I' I've already cancelled the ride, so I don't even have the location anymore. >> Press charges. I know how. So yes, I just go and turn. >> That's all he had to say, but I can't. >> Yeah. So, you know, she had me pick her up from one hotel. >> I want to have me take her to another hotel. You know, >> and uh she's been disrespectful the whole ride. You know, she started yelling at me. Obviously, she's getting upset and screaming. So, you know. Okay. >> White privilege. >> I ain't even >> the most [ __ ] >> His name is Rodriguez. My name is Rodriguez. It's not white privilege. >> Look at you. You have >> Don't Don't interact with her. I'm sorry. >> You can't even name an example of how it was disrespectful to you. You can't even point it out. >> That's crazy. >> He's not going to drive her anywhere. >> The the the ride's been ended. She She just doesn't want to talk to anybody. She doesn't want to understand. >> Where's my refund? That's what I want. You told me on recording that I would not be charged for the ride. So, where's my refund? And I recorded this man going 85 miles, 15 damn near 20 miles over the speed limit, bro. I told him kindly. >> I said, "Hey, the speed limit 60°." >> You're not willing to get out of the vehicle. Is that my understanding? >> Excuse me. >> Excuse me. 519. >> She tried to paint herself as the victim, then suddenly brought up race, a classic diversion, using emotional triggers to derail the conversation and weaken the other side's stance. But this time, it didn't work. The facts spoke louder. >> Hello. >> Have you filed the complaint against >> That's his job, ain't it? That's his wife. Well, no complaint. I want my refund. That's all I was told. So that's all I want. Complaint. I'mma file charges though cuz I got the report. >> You step by the vehicle at least. >> What they say? 84 and going up. 85. Speed limit 60 yards. 60 60 m per hour. That's him, right? For what? >> Trespassing in a conveyance. >> He's telling you to get out of the vehicle. Tell me >> you're refusing to get out of the vehicle. You told us you're not getting out of the vehicle. >> It's all on body camera. >> That's exactly what you said. You said you're not getting out until you get your refund. And that's not how that works. >> I still haven't got my clipboard. I want to press charges. What's going on? >> You want to press charges up the road. I'm kind of going to kill you. >> What are you trying to press? Bring up the phone. Let's solve this. We don't have all night to be hanging out here. She's getting disgruntled. What do What do we want to do? You want to press charges if she refuses to leave? I mean, >> yes or no, dude. >> Yes or no? >> I mean, I need her out of the car. So, I mean, if she is What do I have? You tell me what I have to do to get her out of the car. >> Yep. We're going to go with this officer. You're going to write a statement. >> Can I write my statement? >> Absolutely not. >> I'm not talking to you. >> You're going to step out of this car. >> Okay. >> That's my right. Right. >> I'm going to give you I'm going to give you the opportunity to step out of this car. Absolutely. specifically. It >> doesn't matter if it's me or not. I'm going to give you the opportunity so that you don't have to go to jail tonight. >> Are you going to jack me out my car? Are you going to jack me out this car? >> If you don't step out of this car if you don't step out of this car, >> okay, >> after the opportunity that I'm about to give you, >> you're not the driver. This isn't even your right. Are you in your jurisdiction right now? Absolutely. Where's the driver? >> They always ignore that one last chance officers give. She didn't want to pay for her Ubers, and now she was about to get a free ride straight to jail. A money-saving move with a price tag she wasn't ready for. Told me to get out of this car yet. >> I'm going to drag you out of this car. You understand me? >> That's in your rights. Go ahead. >> Absolutely. >> If you don't step out of this carity, go ahead. Drag me out. I'm 97 lb. Drag me out. >> Come on. Step out. >> I'm 97 lbs. So, you can ask me. >> Come on. Step out. >> I'm not I'm not out. Here we go. >> Really though, >> I'M NOT DOING >> STOP RESISTING. >> Close your hand. >> You mother, bro. You straight silly mother. Bro, I swear to God. I got all my bond money on you, [ __ ] Charge me. >> I will. >> I swear to God you going to jail, homo. Good charge. I swear to God you going to jail, ho. Can I get over my knees? CAN I GET OVER MY KNEES? YOU AIN'T GOT TO drag me out. >> You got any weapons on you? >> Got no white on me. >> You hear >> what the I'm wearing, ho. You >> relax you. >> That's fine. >> You and your mama. Yo, HEY. YO, PUT THE NO. PUT THE PUT THE LIGHT ON ME. YO, YOU DON'T WANT TO THOUGH. Stop doing that. >> I need you to stop doing that. >> Stop doing that. >> Okay. >> Stop doing that. Stop doing that. >> I'm targeting you. Open the door. >> You need to stop doing that. >> I'm targeting you. I WANT PICTURES OF EVERY PART OF MY BODY RIGHT NOW. >> OKAY. >> Cuz you just abused me. >> Do you need medical attention? >> YOU JUST ABUSE. HEY, I SAID I WANT PICTURES. >> DO YOU need medical attention? >> I want pictures of every part of my body right now on everything I love. >> When pulled from the car, she instantly resisted, cursing out officers and threatening to sue every one of them. But her [music] outburst wasn't about justice. It came from losing control. And instead of taking the power back, she just drove her legal situation straight off a cliff. >> I want to drive in a car with you, bro. >> I'll be following. >> I'm going back to Orange County. >> Why' you do this? >> Stop talking to you. Can you please stop talking to me? Yes or no? Or >> or you just want to be a police officer the rest of your life? Yeah, you done told your buddies what you did. That's why all them emojis on your phone. >> What are you talking about? >> Yeah, that's why all them emojis on your phone. They reply to your group chat. >> That's my family. >> Family members texting those emojis at 2:00 in the morning. After 2:00 in the morning, >> my family's from Stop >> Different. >> That's why you in here by yourself. They trying to protect you, bro. >> Yeah. All this [ __ ] on recording. >> That girl, >> are you going to tell me your name? >> Okay. I'm already in your custody. >> Did you ask me one name before you arrested me? Before you threw me on the ground, right? >> My face in the ground multiple times and my face burning and you over there chilling driving and [ __ ] talking about I punch you. You >> Mhm. You did punch me. >> You did all that for what? No. For what? Nothing. It didn't take three of y'all to put my last on the ground. You crazy. Ain't nobody call y'all see my face. Know I'm see through my black skin. Where did you go to school? Who gave you your badge? Orange County. I did. >> In the end, the woman was arrested and charged with five offenses. battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest both with and without violence, trespassing in a conveyance, and possession of marijuana. If convicted, she could [music] face between 6 and 10 years in prison, depending on the severity and any prior history. On April 30th, 2023 [music] in New Jersey, it was supposed to be a boring task, just keeping an eye on a car being towed off the shoulder. But within minutes, what rolled in wasn't a tow truck. It [music] was the worst nightmare of that officer's career. >> Jesus Christ. What the hell was that? The white four-door. It was a Hyundai uh just went by us at extremely high. >> STOP. STOP. >> LET ME SEE YOUR HAND. >> LET ME see your hand. >> Don't move. >> Whose hand? >> Come out of the car. >> Whose hand? >> Come out of the car. corner. >> COME OUT OF THE CAR. >> HOLD ON. >> NO. MARK, YOU WILL BE SHOT IF YOU PUT THAT VEHICLE IN PARK AND DRIVE. MARK, DON'T DO IT. MARK, >> I'LL GET MY MOM. >> MARK, DON'T DO IT. >> I'LL GET MY MOM. >> DON'T DO IT. >> YOU'RE GOING TO HIT MY CAR. >> I'LL GET MY MOM. >> YOU'RE GOING TO HIT MY CAR. STOP. MARK, DON'T DO IT. >> GET OUT OF THE CAR. OUT OF THE CAR. >> Watch out. Watch out. >> Watch out. >> Oh, [ __ ] WATCH OUT. Holy >> Mark. OH [ __ ] We need units. >> What the YOU GUYS ARE DOING? WHAT THE YOU GUYS ARE DOING? WHAT THE YOU GUYS ARE DOING? WHAT THE YOU GUYS ARE DOING? YOU'RE GOING TO KILL HIM. >> OH, [ __ ] kill him. >> WATCH OUT, FRANKIE. FRANKIE, WATCH OUT. >> Get out of the [screaming] way. >> OH MY [ __ ] GOD. >> WATCH OUT. WATCH OUT. Watch out, FRANKIE. ZACK, WATCH OUT. EVERYONE GET OFF THE STREET. Get out of the way. >> A car came speeding like crazy, then stopped for no clear reason. There wasn't even a major offense. At most, it would have been a minor citation. But Mark, he locked in on the police cruiser with a K9 inside. That wasn't panic. That was an intentional hit. And that's when everything went off the rails. All units are okay right now. We we need more. >> Is anyone in that car? >> GET OUT OF THE CAR. >> GET OUT OF THE CAR. >> WATCH IT. >> WATCH THE CROSSFIRE. Back this way. Back this way. >> Justin, back this way. >> Get the [ __ ] OUT OF HERE. UNDERREST. >> PUT THAT VEHICLE DRIVING. YOU WILL BE SHOT. GET OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP. >> GET OUT OF THE CAR. >> GET OUT OF THE CAR NOW. [screaming] >> HANDS UP. >> BACK UP. BACK UP. >> CAN WE confirm yours is broke up? All right, I got you. >> GET IN THE CAR, >> MARK. GET OUT of the car now. >> Got slumped over. >> Is he slumped over? back. Stay back. >> At that moment, the officers had every legal right to smoke him right there on the spot, but they didn't. When the car stopped, they suspected Mark was having a seizure, and instead of going in hard, they pulled him out gently and laid him in the recovery position. A strange moment of calm right in the eye of the storm. I got here. Come on. >> All right. I got >> Watch everyone. Be careful. >> Grab the key and turn it off. >> Mark, get the door locked. >> Guns away. Recovery position. Get in the recovery position. >> Recovery position. >> Officers realize they still need to check the squad that was rammed with a K9 unit inside. They immediately checked on K9 Tango. Thankfully, no major injuries, but the whole team fell silent. One officer shared just how [music] close he was to death. Just one step away. Nobody expected a routine night patrol to turn into a near farewell. This >> back open. >> Hold on, buddy. I need some light right here. Hold on. Let me go on this side. What's that? He He hit my car like three times. I got to check the dog. Come here. Come here. Come here. Thanks. It's okay. You >> okay? >> Motherucker. >> You all right? >> Yeah, I think so. It's okay. >> You okay? >> You all right? >> Keep going. >> You all right? >> I'm good. He was trying to run over me and Franced up to like about this telephone pole and just gunned it at full speed right into it. Like I don't know if he thought I was in here or something. You just smoke in the car and then you back up, boom, do the next thing. And he was wild. Everybody was like running to try to get out of the way. >> The officers recalled what had just gone down. Mark had locked his doors, floored it into the cruiser, ignored every command like he was playing some death game. One nearly got run over. Others were just seconds from disaster. This wasn't exaggerated. Mark had turned the night into a battleground. >> Then he just gunned it down that way and just smoked the car head on. And then like we were giving him commands and nothing. >> Thank god you were out of the car right there. >> Oh, dude. I ran right up alongside his house just just hoping he didn't see me cuz he would come at me and that was forced me to kill cuz I had nowhere to go. >> So he like just got out of the car when you guys came up on him. >> Yeah. So as soon as I pulled in behind him, Ruth was getting out and then he like locked the door. Um so that we were like right here on the side of the car and we were just like, "Get out of the car. You're under arrest. Get out of the car." Then all of a sudden, like I hear the car start or I don't know if it started or I saw the reverse lights come on. Um, and then I freaking tried to smash the window to get him out and then he just backed it up. I remember him hitting my car and then he went through it and then went like this way and then he put it in drive and then he just boom backed up again. Boom. I'm just so thankful. >> Mark Ferolo, 23, and his wife Ruth Patton, 42, were arrested shortly after and taken into custody. Mark faces first-degree attempted murder of a police officer, aggravated assault, fleeing [music] from police property damage, and injuring a police K9. Ruth is charged with terroristic threats, and [music] obstruction of justice. If convicted, Mark could face life in prison without parole. Ruth may be looking at several years to over a decade, depending on the level of her interference and her statements in court. On January 11th, [music] 2023, a call came in. Seemed simple enough. A recently fired employee was refusing to leave the premises, acting disruptive and making [music] threats. But when officers arrived, they didn't just meet stubbornness. They walked into a full-blown meltdown no one saw [music] coming. >> So, what's it all about? >> He told me to wipe off a button and clear our screen. >> Okay. >> And then he want to write me up. >> She currently work here or she does not know. >> Oh my The whole almost year I've been working here, ain't nobody EVER DID THAT. SO WHY EVERYBODY OUT in B have to do that? >> You first. lay down. Her name was >> So, how did how did we get for >> He he picked it. >> First it was first it was old lady that worked here. Her name was Jill. Then it was another girl who worked here. Her name was Trish. >> Okay. >> Then it was another dude who worked there. Her name was Pee. Then it was my sister Aubrey. And then it was me. >> Nice. >> I ain't telling. So, how did how did we get from him asking you to do something, you getting upset to now them claiming that you're making threats and we come back? >> Nobody threat him. >> You never threatened anybody or nothing >> inside? No. >> No, they didn't threat him. >> They said they terminated her today and she needs to leave the property and not come back. >> I'll leave the property with my daddy here. >> Okay. Do you have a car here? >> No. >> Okay. Well, we can step outside though. You can go out this way or you go out this way. Whichever it is, we're going to pick you up. We can go wait somewhere. >> Oh, no. >> What's your name? None of your business. >> It is. Okay. >> He didn't call the police. >> Okay. He did. Fortunately, >> DON'T PUT YOUR HANDS ON ME. >> LET me go. >> You're making this a much bigger deal THAN ME. >> LET ME GO. LET ME GO. >> SETTLE DOWN. Don't Don't >> LET ME GO AND I WILL FIND A WAY FOR MY DAD. NOW, LET ME GO. I NEED Now you're going to jail. >> [screaming] >> STOP. >> STOP. STOP. >> Let me go, bro. >> Stop resisting. You're under arrest, >> BRO. LET ME GO. >> Oh my [ __ ] god. You ass. >> Oh, man. That was necessary to you. >> Yeah. >> How dare her manager ask her to do her job? Unthinkable. And right then, she showed exactly why she got fired in the first place. This girl clearly skipped lesson number one. When a cop says, "You're free to go. You go and fast." Funny how some folks just insist on [music] dragging themselves into trouble they don't need. >> Go. Relax. >> I need my phone. >> We'll get your stuff. >> I need to call my dad. >> Okay. WELL, >> CAN YOU STOP HURTING MY GODDAMN ARM? >> Please let go of your bag. Thank you. I'll get your phone. >> Bro, THIS ONE'S TOO TIGHT. >> STOP. WE CAN'T do anything while YOU'RE STILL FIGHTING [screaming] US. >> OH MY. >> And we are not going to let you go. You are under arrest. >> CAN YOU GUYS UNTIE IT? >> It's actually loose though. >> NO, THIS ONE IS NOT. >> OKAY. STOP PULLING on it and it's not going to be so DIFF. >> CAN I GET MY PHONE? >> I'll get your phone. >> Get yours. >> No, I need to call my dad. >> You You want to call your dad? >> No, I need >> And if he's already on the way, we'll explain it when he gets you. No, please. >> OKAY. >> WE'LL GET IT. Can I get your phone again? >> Real quick. >> Anything in your pockets at all? >> The BAM report turned into >> Is your ID in your bag, ma'am? >> No, I don't have it on me. >> Okay. >> Have a seat. We're going to get some information from you. >> No, you don't. You have to sit. You lost that option. Go sit down. >> Take a minute. Sit down with everybody. THAT'S WHY Y'ALL DON'T UNDERSTAND. >> WE WILL get it figured out right here. You need to sit down. You are under arrest. Don't make me drag you into the car. Stand down. >> The father is on his way and will show up any minute to add more chaos to this situation. >> Oh my god. What is your last name? >> Not telling you guys nothing until my day here. >> How old are you? >> How old are you? >> She's only 18, probably her very first job. And it seems she thought money would come as easy as Tik Tok views. Hired to work in customer service, but flat out refused to follow directions. She didn't show up to learn. She showed up acting like she owned the place. >> So, how old are you? I'm 18. >> Okay. What's your last name? >> Okay. Then we'll just take you down to the jail. They'll fingerprint you and you will stay in jail until you give your name or your fingerprints come back in a few days. Why are you being so difficult with us? >> Because you rather being difficult with me. You leave HERE MY SIDE OF THE STORY. >> FIRST of all, this is your side of the story. My officer asked you and then all they wanted you to do was leave and not come back. You did not want to get up and leave. They This is a business. They have a right to have someone not on their property. There's other people in there eating and trying to order and you're yelling. >> We just wanted you to >> Okay, but [laughter] you guys don't know the half of Popey. You're right. And if you guys did that, you guys probably wouldn't be arresting me. >> No, we're arresting you because you were pulling away and going, >> "No, I wasn't pulling away." >> You 100% were. And we have it on video, so it's fine. And you have to give your name because there's a report that you're not allowed back here. >> Okay. You guys didn't have no reason to put your hands ON ME. I FREAKED OUT THE WAY I DID. PUT your hands on me. That's fine. Do you think if you would have got up and walked out like we asked you to, this would have been happening? >> I didn't have to get up and walk out. >> Yes, you do. They asked you to leave and >> Okay. And I would HAVE GOT UP AND WALKED OUT. You guys had to pressure me. >> We literally said you have to leave and we'll wait for you outside for your dad. >> Okay. >> What's your last name? >> First name. >> Haley. >> Yeah. Was on his way? >> Yep. >> How long before you think he gets here? >> I don't know. He was at work. >> Okay. >> Matthew 23. >> She was. She just got terminated today. Now, welcome back on the property. Scary. >> I talked to the complainant. He doesn't want He just wants her banned from here. Nothing else. >> Have you ever been arrested before? >> Like when I was like 12. >> Oh, what was that for? >> Running away. >> Okay. >> But since you've been never arrested for anything. >> Well, let that one slide, didn't it? >> So, criminal trespass and resisting? >> Yeah. The threat was I'm going to call my dad. He's going to come here and take care of you. That's still the threat. Then her father arrived, furious, defensive, acting like his daughter was the victim here. He immediately blamed the manager and even started questioning the police. But that whole outburst said more than he realized. Turns out that boss attitude of hers didn't come out of nowhere. >> Was hurting my wrist. >> Like I had staples on it before and it's not you. >> I got >> You had staples on what? >> On this one. >> Okay. >> I got a cold call to her man or something getting into her face. He told the manager that she going to call him hering dad and that's when he said he was calling the cops to the threat. >> Okay. But he doesn't have no right. He doesn't need to be up in her face. >> Okay. That's what she's saying. This is actually both her stories is she was told cuz they had no customers to clean >> and she said no. >> He said we talked about this. There's nobody here. >> This guy for the last 3 weeks. >> So they said okay you're terminated. >> And we want her to leave. >> She said you have to leave. She said I'm not leaving. Say you have to leave. They don't want you here and we need your information cuz you're not walking back. She refused to give the information and then she started fighting my officers. >> So, like I said, if you stay like that, it won't put more pressure on your wrist and shouldn't be so bad. >> That's where we're at. Can I talk to her? >> I can't do you got put the window down a little bit so you can talk. >> What happened? >> He told me to clean and I took the No. >> Calm down. Calm down. Calm down. They want to crank me up and slam me up against a glass and the police. >> Okay, stop. Stop. >> Stop. Stop. Did they ask you your name? Why didn't you just tell him your name? >> I told him my name. >> Who the manager keeps getting in your face? >> Jesse. >> His name is Jesse. >> So, how did it happen? What happened? What do you do? Ask you to clean? He want to get smart and talk about something. You can grab a rag and grab this the soap and you can clean this off. >> Well, why are you fighting with the officers? >> I wasn't fighting with him. >> Why is your neck all red? >> Cuz they just slam me up against the glass. >> Don't fight. Don't argue with them, please. They had more charge against you, we'll take care of this. Don't worry about it. >> All right. So, because we obviously we heard what we're calling and she's 18. We're telling you this is a courtesy that she'd be in charge with obstructing ID and then it resisted. Okay. So, she's going to go to jail for that. You'll be able to go down there and postpone or she can postpone. She's >> The father knew exactly what happened, but he wasn't there to help his daughter learn or take responsibility. He came ready to fight no matter what. And in doing so, he showed exactly how he handles conflict at home. Emotional, confrontational, and with zero sense of fairness or clarity. >> What you saying was >> you're not going inside right now, are you? Let's Let's not do that. >> Let's Let's not do that. Okay. Wait. You guys leave, dude. Okay. >> You don't You don't need to go too for some stupid >> as I understand. Listen. Listen. We've dealt with >> both my daughters now for the last month. He wants to act like he's tough. Well, act like he's tough. >> Is is that the way to go? Or get hold of his boss. You know what I mean? Get a hold of his boss. Let them know the issues. >> Well, he's a district manager, so he's he's pretty high up the ladder. >> Oh, there's going to end up happening under the current >> I know. I go to jail. I understand we don't really want that either cuz then you do no good for anybody at that point. >> So I understand >> there's different ways to approach it. Let's pick one of those different ways today cuz this this is enough for you guys to deal with for today, right? Agreed. >> Yep. >> Okay, fair enough. I appreciate that. >> The weed money. >> I'll take the weed. >> You want to destroy the weed or we want to do the weed? >> There's two uh two baggies against the law, right? >> Well, yeah. I'm going to switch some handcuffs on you. Okay. You want to step on out? >> And you said your your one hand you had what? Staples stitches in it from how long ago? >> My two. >> It's all healed up and stuff now though, right? >> Sir, could you just do me a favor and just I being that close to me? >> I understand. >> Hey, listen. Okay. I don't know what your intent is, okay? I don't need you right on my back. >> Okay. He politely asked you to step back. So, he doesn't need to calm down. He asked you politely. Correct. He just did not want you that close. >> I told you this is a courtesy that you're even being involved in this cuz he's 18. Who's >> right there? >> Yeah. >> We're just going to put him in the front. Okay. Fair enough. You're done fighting. >> Sorry. I apologize. >> I get that emotions are high. I get that it's a lot to deal with, especially Especially since you guys have had past issues with the same person. >> Got my number. >> It doesn't matter. Just go. It's going to be a few hours now from >> In the end, the young woman was taken to jail and charged with trespassing, obstructing identification, [music] and resisting arrest. Her penalties could include fines, probation, or even short-term jail time. If convicted, she'll have a criminal record that could haunt her future, both personally and professionally. On September 27th, [music] 2023 in Palm Beach County, Florida, officers on patrol spotted a Nissan with unusually dark tinted [music] windows blowing through stop signs and driving recklessly. At first glance, it looked like just another traffic violation, but something felt off. Trusting their [music] instincts, they pulled the car over and uncovered a serious secret hiding inside. >> How you doing? How you doing? >> I'm fine. >> Sheriff's office. Reason for my stop. Illegal tent. You're rolling through some of these stop signs coming through. >> Oh, I'm so sorry. I I did stop, but then there was no cars. >> Rolling. It's all right. You got a valid license? >> Yes, I do. >> All right. >> Can you roll down all the windows for my partner so I can >> All right. Just step out of the vehicle for a >> Okay. You can leave that. >> You can leave this right now. >> Just come. Uh yeah, once she gets you here, we're going to come to the back door over here. Okay. I saw her throw something in the back. >> That's That's all we That's what I smell. >> I just got obviously plain view right here. bag right here. Vacuum sealed. >> Yeah, it is. >> I just What's that? >> What happened next was a textbook case of concealed evidence. When officers saw the driver toss something inside the car, it gave them legal grounds to search the vehicle, no warrant needed, under the plain view doctrine. And what they found confirmed their gut feeling. Oh my gosh. I knew I should in the backseat. I just got in. Trying to get home. Hungry. >> Where do you live now? >> I live in like >> What's your address? >> Down. >> When did you get this car? >> I literally just got it. >> Where did you pick it up from? some oak down there. >> What's down there? There's a lot of things down there. >> I don't know the street, but it's down there. I literally just swap cars. >> Temple. Show Black now. 10:50. >> Sit tight for a sec. Okay. So, so she take a picture of all that. >> Where's your south and bravo? >> Her story vague, dodgy, and missing key details. She couldn't say exactly where the car came from or who it belonged to. That kind of evasiveness only raised more red flags and pointed to something bigger than just a borrowed ride. Put it in the white. your phone. You want to open it? >> Yeah. There was still another victim trapped inside, barely breathing, in urgent need of rescue. Officers jumped into action, performing first aid and doing everything they could to keep the victim alive until firefighters arrived. And in the middle of that life or death chaos, the building owners showed up not to help, but to interfere. >> Um, how much is it worth the damages? >> How much are the damages? >> At least $100,000. >> Fair enough. All right. For right now, I'm going to need you to step back there. >> No, for right now, I want to go >> We No, we're not going to do that. We can't do that. >> I told you that it's a crime scene, and we're not doing that. We're not going to go in there. I'm going in the building. >> I'm going in the building. >> Hey, can I get you over here, please? >> I got to go inside. >> All right. Give me a second, sir. Cones are there for a reason, sir. To prevent anybody from coming here. >> They called me and told me to come down here. >> There was cones there. You could have stopped and asked us what we cuz now you enter the crime scene right now. Just so I understand. You were following him. The other vehicle was involved. He >> No, no, no. >> I think he lost control, he started this way. And I think when he lost control, it snacks. >> Where were y'all coming from? >> Your car's white. >> He hadn't had anything on medication, anything like that. >> Meanwhile, a witness confirmed both cars had been weaving in and out of lanes like they were racing. A lawyer on the scene began asking questions. Was this a high-speed chase? It was clear he was already thinking about lawsuits. >> That vehicle where a he hit him in the rear. Um and then he's like then he the guy ended up swerving and he hit the wall. Um did anybody see it? >> He started way back up the road up here all over the place. Speed probably coming down through here. Probably >> he went through two cars. He went through that Nissan. He went through another truck. >> Officers now lose sight of the uncooperative building owner. >> Are he in the building? Is that him? >> It's not him, is it? I'm building on stage. >> No, he went inside. >> Huh? >> He went inside. I think >> he's not listening to me. I need him to get out. Okay, give me one second. >> He's over there. >> Look out now. Hang on now. Stand by. Just relax, guys. You guys know me. >> Okay, but you're obviously not listening. >> It's okay. It'll be okay. Okay, just relax. >> This whole place is a crime scene. >> Just relax. Why is this place a crime scene? Because they're conducting an active investigation higheed chase going on. You're going to go in handcuffs. Okay. >> Where's that high speed chase going on? >> Wait in your car. >> The fire department asked me to come down here. >> Yeah, cuz I need your information. >> In your car or you need to leave. >> He usually carries a signal zero with him. >> Oh, so do I. >> I'm about to put him in. >> Who's the driver of the other car? Sierra, >> the girl? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Cuz according to the witness, they were both swarming in and out of like all over the place. It looked like they were street racing or they were like front or something or I don't know. Yeah, cuz he said that they were both either racing or swerving or doing something. >> Yeah, he said he said that they were driving recklessly. Both of these. Yeah, cuz she's the one that told you that they were heading back and she thinks how he lost control. >> Yeah. >> And that's it. >> Yeah. But she did mention all the other stuff. The other guy says both vehicles were swinging. One kept going in front of the other. 60 plus miles an hour. Just started just north of the PD. almost hit his car and then uh he sees a bunch of like dust and smoke and stuff. No. So >> yeah, that's what he told. >> Police returned to question Sierra a second time. This time under oath. The game was over. Now her words had legal weight. >> I'm with the Holly Hill Police Department's traffic homicide investigation criminal investigation unit. So when I I understand that you were friends with this this guy. Okay. You guys were following each other. All right. If you could real quick, I'm just going to get a quick statement from you. Okay. So what's your full name? scared. >> Which vehicle is yours? That white one that's up there. >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. So, why don't you go ahead and uh can you raise your right hand for me? >> You swear and affirm the information statement to be true to whole truth, nothing but the truth. Okay. Tell me what happened in that. >> Pretty much we were we were by each other and I remember this car being right there and I remember him coming in between us. He was coming up kind of fast. So, I stole my car after he went right between us. I'm pretty sure it happened so fast it was kind of blanking my mind a little bit, but I'm pretty sure he lost control and he kind of sideswiped the car and it just chailed a little bit right here. He spun out like that and the car like jumped and smacked into the wall. >> But had he been drinking or anything like that? >> Not that I know of. >> Okay. Um, so you guys were coming northbound on Ridgewood here, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay. And which lane was he in? >> He was I was in this one. He was in this. So he was in the outside or the right lane? >> Yeah. >> And you were on the inside. Was he a little ahead of you? >> Yes. >> Was he driving any kind of erratic or anything like that? Was he going pretty fast or >> going fast? >> He was going fast. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Were you both going fast or Okay. How long do you think you guys were going kind of over a little over the speed limit? >> Um for for a little while. >> Do you know where our police department is back there? that large coina building at LPGA. Would you say about then? Before then, or after then? >> Before then? >> Before then. Okay. And you were still in the left lane. He was in the right lane the whole time. >> Not the whole time. >> Okay. Which lanes or how many times did you guys change lanes? Say, since LPGA twice. >> Okay. All right. And then where were you all heading to? >> We were headed to his house. >> Are you guys boyfriend, girlfriend, or just friends? >> Sierra's second statement revealed just enough. speeding, lane switching, driving side by side with Caden. All signs of illegal street racing. She didn't confess directly, but her contradictions exposed more than she realized. Under pressure, her defense began to crack. >> Friends. Friends. Okay. Is there anything else that you think could be uh pertinent to this investigation or anything you want to add to your statement? >> Okay. How fast do you think y'all were going when when this happened? This part here? Um, well, for mine, I was I was going like 60. >> 60. Okay. Again, nothing else you want to add to your statement. >> Okay. And you uh swear this is the whole truth and nothing but the truth. >> Yeah. Okay. Perfect. >> Is this tree line the crime scene? >> This is all in here, guys. >> Okay. I'm here. I'm right here, bud. I'm stay right here. >> Please get out of the grass, please. >> It's okay. >> It's not okay. You're being a dick for no reason. >> What's wrong with the grass? >> I don't know where there may be skin marks or what. I don't know. Drop the investigator here. Please. You just go outside of the line, please. >> You're very close standing up in handcuffs and back on the patrol car. >> You want to go across the street? You're more than welcome over here. That's fine. Perfect. Thank you. >> I'm with handcuffs. >> Watch the car, please. I don't want to get hit. >> Two months later, investigators pulled the vehicle data recorders. Both cars had been going 79.5 mph in a 40 mph zone. Kaden died on impact. His blood tested positive for alcohol and THC. Sierra was charged with vehicular manslaughter and illegal racing. >> How you doing? >> I'm all right. How are you? >> Not too bad. I'm Detective Barrett. I'm with the Holly Hill Police Department. Is Sierra available? >> Uh, no. She ain't here. >> She's not here. This her car? >> Yeah. >> Is she going to be back anytime soon or >> probably? Yeah. You want me to have her call? >> Yeah. Yeah. Let me leave you my card here. >> What's this in regards to >> that crash that she was involved with uh her friend Kaden >> a couple months back? passed away. >> So, yeah, if you can have her just call me when she's available, that'd be great. >> All right. >> Sierra now faces charges of vehicular homicide for reckless driving that contributed to Kaden's death. If convicted, she could face up to 5 years in prison, fines of up to $5,000, and the suspension of her driver's license under Florida law. On January 21st, [music] 2025 in New Jersey, police were called to a medical facility after a female patient began threatening staff and disrupting operations. All because she refused to wait her turn. What started as a minor issue in the waiting room quickly [music] turned into a scene no one expected. >> I didn't get an ambulance to come up here having problems breathing with my chest and all this cold stuff to come sit in the waiting area. He refused to take me to Hopewell. So now we got a problem because I'm not waiting here for all this. I was in that cold all night last night. >> So either they gonna take me to Oakwell or we're gonna get it popping up in here. Anyway it goes. I'm okay. >> I mean you you can't be threatening people. >> I'm not threatening anybody. I didn't threaten anybody. >> You telling people that you're going to get it popping up in here. >> I mean I mean that can mean they can mean any number of things. >> I understand that. But >> they can mean any number of things. >> But we're obviously here for a reason. So someone someone took it someone took it a certain way. >> I call it take me to hope. Well, that that that has I'm saying I can't take you to >> I didn't say you. >> Okay, but you can't stay in here if you're going to be >> causing causing a problem. >> You going to drag me out? >> I I don't want to. >> Hey, I'm I'm politely. >> In order for that to happen, you're going to need about six more of you. I'm saying I'm I'm going to be honest with you. I'm going to be honest with you. >> I'm politely asking you to leave. >> I'm I'm going to be honest with you. You're going to need six more of you to drag me out of here. And if you drag me out of here while I'm telling you I have a problem with all this going on, you can take it up with my attorney cuz I already got it. I already got a lawsuit going on in this hospital, which is why I told them to take me to the hotel cuz they act funny when I come here because of what they did to me back in 2007. This has been pending for a long time now because of that lawsuit. They act funny whenever I come here. I told them to take me to a different hospital. >> So, they didn't want to do it. They got to deal with me. >> Um, all right. Give me a second. >> What's that? >> Give me Give me one second. >> She tried to seize control, demanding to choose her provider, barking orders at both medical staff and officers. It was more than defiance. It revealed deep mistrust and a desperate need for control, likely rooted in past trauma she hadn't processed. >> Ma'am, would we be able to take you to Capitol Health East Trenton, St. Francis? >> Can't go there either. >> Can't go there either. >> No. Okay. So, I'm trying to tell you those two hospitals are tied to incidents. >> Okay. >> I I know you said something about this one, but I didn't know. It's the same. It's the same situation. >> Okay. >> I avoid those hospitals because the last time I went there, whatever they did >> and and they lied about it on paperwork. It was pulled up. It was exposed. So, I actually not supposed to be here. But when I do come here, it was kind of like I haven't been here for a while trying to see things work out. Well, now that they didn't see me back in the system, they stoping with me. >> Okay. >> I was seen earlier today. Yeah. I was seen at Robert with Johnson. He gave me the prescription for it. I need a a inhaler with steroid in it because this is just regular albuterol. >> Mhm. >> So you giving me is not working. I'm just taking it for no reason. [cough] [clears throat] Bring me in the ambulance to bring me when you got that. That makes no sense. >> Okay. [snorts] But like, are you like upset that they're taking too long to take you back there? >> I'm just trying to figure out why they would bring me in the waiting area when I came in an ambulance right now. All of these people have to get caught before I go back there. They're trying to say my situation is not that important. How are you going to tell me? Tell it to my chest. The more I cough, it starts to squeeze. >> I said, "Take me to Hopa." I would have I would have gotten there, got my breathing treatment. They probably would have gave me a prescription for Adair, which is to >> I'm just I'm just trying to come up with a solution. That's >> We're trying to help you out. >> I get it. I mean, I'm This is all I have on. I'm not going to keeping myself up and have people say that they're trying to help me. >> Are you willing to work with us a little bit? >> Work. Work. >> Capital Health. >> I cannot go to that hospital. I'm telling you. >> She rejected every offer of help without suggesting any alternative. This rigid thinking and unwillingness to cooperate created a standoff that made constructive dialogue impossible. What she claimed were rights soon lost all legitimacy under the weight of her behavior. >> All right, ma'am. So, what do you want to do? >> Something else there. >> What do you want to do then? >> I don't know. >> You want to wait here? >> I don't. >> All right. You don't have any friends out here? >> There's a friend. >> Friend? >> Where's a friend? >> Out here. You're trying. >> Spell the word. >> F R I E N D. What's the most important word inside the word? >> And this is over on Friday. There's no friends. >> Okay. I told them not to bring me here. Anytime I get in the ambulance and ask me what house I want to go to, I always say hope. >> Give me Give me one second. So, here's where we're at. Security said if you're just going to sit here and just chill out, stay warm for right now, they still have you on the list to be seen. Okay? They said if you're just going to sit here and chill out, you're fine to stay. If not, >> you got to leave. >> Right. But just cuz you come in an ambulance, it doesn't mean you go first. >> It goes I'm saying ain't already back there is what I'm saying. They bring you up here, >> right? >> Why bring me up here? >> Sometimes when we're full, we don't >> I saw beds back there. You could I did >> There's nurses to take care of all the people that are there. So there's beds open, but there's no nurses. That's the thing. >> All the nurses are already maxed out. They're at more patients than they're supposed to have. So when you come in an ambulance, it doesn't mean you automatically get a bed and get seen. It has to go by the sickest. >> So that's why you're out here. I'm going to get your vitals and check you out and then you're going to sit here and wait for us to have a bed and a nurse. >> Are you okay with that? >> I tell you what, >> how about how about you just discharge me, give me a medical, >> despite being told she could remain as long as she stayed calm, her behavior escalated. The emotional volatility, possibly tied to PTSD, became more evident as she used provocative symbolic language in an attempt to reclaim a sense of power. >> So, what what's what option are you going to go with? >> You know how to play uh uh uh poker? >> Do I know how to what? >> You know, play poker. >> I haven't played in a long time. Why? That's the concept of poker that you never reveal your hand. Right. >> Right. But I can't be standing here all day. >> You don't have to stay. You're free to go. >> So yeah, >> you're free to go. >> So listen, are if are you going to stay calm and cool and let them see you? Cuz if you are, I can leave. If not, then I got to go another route. >> I mean, I hope you didn't say that to get a rise out of me because >> absolutely. You know, when people speak words with with words or attached energy and I every weird piece of energy that I don't want to accept. It's kind of like playing baseball. You can say what you're going to say, but if I don't feel it, I don't feel it. Right. I'm unfazed by threats, any of that [ __ ] 2025 because I know my power as a black woman. Sar isn't allowing us to transport her to Oklahoma. Um, basically, she's a bigger woman. There's a lot of people in this waiting room. That's why I call first and she's talking with security. I'm going to give her one last chance. I'm going to tell her this is your last opportunity to leave. You get arrested for trespassing. And from there, we we do what we got to do. All right. If you choose to not leave, you'll be placed under arrest for trust. >> Cornered and out of options, she invoked identity politics, mentioning energy, black womanhood, and systemic injustice as shields against accountability. But when reality struck, those defenses crumbled and she had to face the consequences of her choices. >> Right now, I'm quiet. >> What are you talking about now? >> So, so listen, this is where we're at. >> I was talking to him about something for this is where we're at. You can either leave or you will be arrested for trespassing. That's where we're at. Where's my phone? Where's my phone? >> Okay. Your hands in the ice. >> I got you. I got you. Just get your hand out. Put this hand. You for what? For what? So, I'll talk to you. >> Why am I getting mad? Just go home. Have a good night. >> Why do you think? >> Bianca jumped in like the girlfriend ready to defend her man. Pure instinct, but with no legal authority to intervene. She felt the situation was unfair and took matters into her own hands. Meanwhile, her boyfriend was intoxicated and erratic, lashing out at officers one moment, begging for leniency the next. >> I know, but you know he's going to continue to be at so what's the point of engaging somebody's drunk go. >> I know, but we're going to take we're going to make sure he goes home. That's is that simple. >> I am literally walking towards the door. >> Well, yeah, you're walking towards the door. Handcanded now. Let's go. >> Police gave multiple verbal warnings, setting a clear legal basis for force if necessary. Bianca's repeated interference crossed the line. It wasn't just emotional anymore. It became a sustained act of obstruction which can carry criminal charges. >> Well, you're not walking like walking. I'm perfectly fine. Let go of me. >> You have a female. >> Let go of me. Thank you. You don't have to hold up to me. I'm not going to go anywhere. So you keep pulling away from yourself. >> I would have no problem. You said it three times. And all of a sudden, >> he got to leave. >> So, I'm getting arrested, but the man that was in the fight is not getting arrested. >> Yeah, but this doesn't make any sense. I stood there. I stayed quiet. Though she didn't strike anyone, Bianca resisted in subtle but deliberate ways. Ignoring commands, yelling, pulling away. Small actions like pushing an officer's hand or refusing to stay put all added up to non-compliance. Plain and simple. >> Screw you to her. >> Name you to her. >> Yeah, I'm going to get her name, bro. >> Ain't nothing to her. >> Okay. >> I just want to get her name. >> Why? >> You know what I'm saying? >> To get her out >> to get her out. A jeep blows through a stop sign, forcing officers [music] to slam on the brakes to avoid a crash. It could have ended as a simple traffic violation. But once they pulled her over, things [music] took a sharp turn into something far more confrontational. >> The reason I stopped you is cuz you almost hit me back there. You have your proof of insurance on you. Do you have anything to drink tonight? >> No, nothing at all. Okay. Can you keep looking for that insurance? I'll be with you in just a minute. Okay. Come on. I have I'm going to have you step out. Step out. Get out of the car. Okay. >> He's going to tell you right over here if you just get out. >> Okay. I'm just asking what's going on. >> Go to the sidewalk with that. >> Okay. I I put I >> Okay, come on over here. >> All right. I know you said you had nothing to drink for this officer. Okay. >> No, I I did. I didn't say that. I >> Well, how much have you had to drink >> wrong with your eyes or anything? >> No, no, I'm a balance or something. >> What do you mean? No, I I like test people who have vertigo and other stuff. So, >> but you don't have anything like that, correct? >> No, I don't I don't have any preerequisite. No, I don't. >> Thank you. >> All right. So, what this officer is going to do, he's going to put to some test to make sure that you're okay to drive. I understand. >> Okay. So, before you do that, let me put on >> No, I appreciate it. I understand. Right off the bat, the young woman came off overly confident, claiming to have expert knowledge of the vestibular system and insisting the field sobriety test was medically invalid. In her mind, she wasn't drunk. She was simply recalibrating her vestibular alignment. >> This one, you're going to look at my tip of my finger with your eyes and your eyes only. Do not move your hand. Okay? >> Do you understand? >> Yes. >> All right. Okay, keep looking at the tip of my finger. All right. >> Absolutely. You only go 8 in. >> Left foot. So your one foot's going to be in front of the other. >> There you go. >> Go ahead. >> Okay. >> What do I mean? >> So you're going to stay like that the whole time and then this officer is going to explain the rest of the test. Okay. >> So stay in this position with your right foot in front of your left with the heel of your right foot touching the toe of your left until I tell you to move. Go back to that position. >> Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. >> Stay in that position. >> Keep your hands down at your sides. Okay. >> When I tell you to do so, you're going to take nine heel totoe steps down this imaginary straight line that's in front of you. Okay. Do you understand? >> Yes. Do >> you have any questions at all? >> No. >> Okay. Go ahead. Whenever you're ready. >> 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9. >> Keep going like he explained. >> But NHTSA tests aren't designed to diagnose a medical condition. They're meant to check your coordination, balance, and overall alertness behind the wheel. You don't need a medical degree. You just need to stand straight, follow directions, and stay steady. She didn't meet any of those standards. >> Well, what's what's the cut off for you to stop me? >> I will tell you when to stop. Just when you start the T, don't stop. >> The cut off for you to stop me. >> It's when I tell you to stop. >> Okay. But like what's the normal? >> Like like what's the normal stop? You know, >> the stopping theory. >> Yeah. Like what what's the regulated stop? >> I don't I'm not really sure what you're ask. She was polite on the surface, but before the arrest, she repeatedly tried to educate the officers and subtly talk down to them. Even as the cuffs went on, she kept arguing her case like she was the one wronged. That's not confidence. It's a clear sign of someone out of touch with the seriousness of their own actions. >> Do you want your uh ID being brought with you? Cuz your car is going to get towed. >> Why would it get towed? >> Because there's no one here to drive it. >> Um I have someone to drive it. >> They're not here. Do you want your uh ID with you or to leave it in the car? >> There's someone to tow it right now. >> There is going to be someone to tow it. You're correct. But do you want someone to take your ID? >> So if I have someone to move it right now, >> no one is going to move the car. The car is getting towed. >> Well, my my friend >> I'm going to have someone to witness it and that's going to be me. >> Okay. >> You want a minute? Wait a sec. >> No, go ahead. >> Okay. I'm going to read you your Miranda rights. Okay. Are you listening? >> Yeah. >> All right. Before we ask you any questions, you must understand your rights. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can can be used against you. the right to have an attorney present during any questioning. Do you understand your rights as they have been read to you? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Okay. Check. Yes. And then put your time. Read you the second portion. I'm going explain it to you. Okay. It's called the >> Huh? >> No. Me and him are there's two of us. So, this is the waiver of rights. Okay. I have read this statement of my rights and understand what my rights are. I am willing to make a statement andor answer questions. I do not want an attorney present at this time. I understand and know what I am doing. No promises or threats have been made to me and no pressure or coercion of any kind has been used against me. So basically what that's saying is we have a list of questions that we ask people who are under arrest for OVI. To answer those questions, you have to wave your rights. Is that something that you want to do? >> No. >> Okay. She wasn't arrested just for failing the test, but for dodging questions, offering vague answers, and refusing to take responsibility. When you start debating instead of just responding, chances are you're not sober enough to drive. >> No. >> Were you involved in any nerdy clubs? >> No. No, you you weren't even in like science club. >> No. What's a good phone number for you? >> Well, I'm not going to tell you that. But um I was in recycle club for a while. Um >> you don't have a good phone number? >> No, I don't. Um >> you have a good email? >> No, never. >> This is just so the the courts can contact you. It's in your favor. It's so they can get a hold of you if they need to. You want to give me your phone number? >> I mean, I'm assume they're going to ask me later for it. >> I'm not sure they will, but it's right now is when I'm asking you for it. >> Hey, be honest with me. Like, I'm not doing anything wrong. >> Okay. What's a good phone number for you? >> Why? It's so the courts can contact you if they need to. >> So if you want to take it right now, no one's going to take it. >> I'm not I don't think so. I I I don't think they're going to ask you when we go in there. No. >> So what's going to happen if they don't have my phone number? >> They won't be able to contact you. >> All right. Well, we can just stick it. >> Sorry. I'm I'm not trying I'm genuinely not trying to be difficult, but like >> Okay. >> I'm just trying to get home. >> Okay. [music] >> In the end, the woman was taken to jail and charged with operating a vehicle while impaired, OVI. If it's her first offense in Ohio, she could face fines from $375 to $1,75, a license suspension [music] up to one year, and anywhere from 3 to 180 days in jail. The court may also require her to complete an alcohol education program. Thanksgiving in New Mexico was supposed to be a time for family and reunion, but instead [music] it kicked off with the whale of an ambulance siren. A horrific car crash left a woman badly injured. And when police arrived on scene, they uncovered something even more disturbing than the impact itself. >> And JD. >> Okay. >> Is she breathing? >> She's breathing. 4106 855 1018 female conscious and breathing lots of blood from the head and mouth area. >> Who else is in the car? >> Just me and JD. >> Okay. >> She bleeding from her head or anything? >> I think it's just from her nose. >> From her nose. Was she driving? >> I was driving. >> You were driving? >> It's my car. >> She in the passenger seat. >> She was in the back seat. >> In the back seat. So, who else is with you? >> It was just me and her. >> Okay. Well, we need to know because I just want to make sure that everybody's okay. just two that we know of. Okay. >> She was in the back seat and she said she's driving. >> We're trying to figure out some more things though. >> Okay. The car said three occupants. Did that Did you guys see that? >> Um she's saying there's only two right now. Um investigation. There's probably another one kind of somewhere around the area. >> Okay, cool. >> No. >> Do you remember driving? >> No. >> Did you guys have any anything to drink tonight? >> I did. >> You did? >> I don't want to lie, but I did. >> You had something to drink tonight? How long? >> We're going to put this around your neck. Maybe 30 minutes ago, I had two high noons. >> 30 minutes ago? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> And are you okay? Do you need any medical inter? >> I'm okay. Can I call my mom? >> Uh, we'll work on that in a second. >> The car had clearly slammed into something. There was no denying it, especially with the injured passenger sitting in the back. But when questioned, she seemed confused, unsure of who was driving, who sat where. Then silence. No [snorts] answers, no cooperation. What started as a crash quickly turned [music] into a mess of halftruths and suspicious gaps. >> I feel like they're okay. I don't want to be a snitch. >> Okay. We're with the fire department. Okay. Right. We're waiting on >> Well, who is that then? >> I just don't want to be a snitch. Whenever you call my mom, I'll tell >> Well, when it involves an injury like this, wouldn't it make sense to >> dog? They're okay. >> Not to us. They're not okay. We're not going to let you call your mom. >> Okay, then if you don't let me call my mom, I'm not going to tell you. >> 505. >> What's your mom's name? >> Megan. >> Hello, Megan. >> Hey, this is Officer Young Farm Police Department. I'm out here with your daughter right now. She's involved with a vehicle accident. Um, >> we're on Dustin Avenue. >> Am I not able to talk to her? >> Yeah. I mean, um, so where we are right now is that she said that she's a driver. Do you know who she was hanging out with? >> No. Okay. Is this Is this P? >> Yeah. Is this vehicle belong to you? The BMW? >> I don't know. >> That's you. Okay. >> Yeah. But I just want to know what the best thing for me to do is. >> The best thing right now is for you to just hang tight. They're going to get you checked out, make sure that you're okay, and then we're going to go over there and um have a conversation. Okay. So, can you kind of tell me again? Um, you were the driver and she Where was she at? >> She was in the back seat. >> Which side? >> I don't know. There's a car seat on this right side. So, she was either in the middle or on this my side. >> And I don't know. I must have hit this. >> And how old are you now? >> I'm 20. >> Her friend lay there unconscious and clinging to life. But her biggest worry being called a snitch. Officers soon found out she'd been drinking. And when asked to take a breath test at the scene, she flat out refused. >> This road? >> Yes. >> How much have you had to drink tonight? >> I've had two high noon. >> Two high noon. What time was that? >> Maybe 30 45 minutes ago. >> Have you had anything? Have you smoked? Have you taken any narcotics? >> Nicotine. Nicotine alcohol. >> I need salt. >> Would you be willing to participate in the standardized field sobriety test? >> Can I wait till I get to the station? >> No, ma'am. >> Okay, that's my answer is that I'll wait till I get to the station. >> That's it's a yes or no whether or not you will do them right here on scene. >> Come on. Come here. >> No. >> No. Stay back. >> No. They're asking me if I want to. Ma'am, >> you're asking me if I want to partake in a sobriety. Okay. No, >> you don't want to participate in any standardized field sobriety test. >> I'm not trying to be the criminal, but I don't want I just want to >> you guys ago, but I maybe finished the last one 15 I don't know 20 20 minutes ago. >> Okay. >> So, you were driving. There was a male that you didn't know in the passenger seat and then some and then your friend was in the back seat. >> Yes. Okay. And what happened right here? >> I don't I don't know. I think I was trying to be cool or what? I don't know. >> You don't know if you're trying to be cool or not? >> Well, I know that I was driving a little bit quicker than I should, >> but I don't know what I hit. >> Participate in any of our standardized field sobriety tests tonight? >> Okay. All right. Yep. Go ahead and stand up for me. All righty. You're going to be under arrest for driving while under the influence. Okay. >> Her friend is seriously injured, caught between life and death while she's haggling with officers like she's bargaining at a flea market. Her loyalty to a coward who fled the scene wasn't about honor. It came from being coddled, plain and simple. >> Go ahead and look up here. Do you see the uh yellow and red light? >> Yes, sir. >> All right. I need you to take one big step backwards. >> All right. Go ahead and separate your feet for me. >> Negative. But is anybody >> You don't have anything on on you that will poke me, sick, and stab me. >> Okay. Do you have any children that would be affect uh any minor dependence or anything that would be affected by your arrest? >> Okay. >> I was asking to assist you guys on your 45. Sorry about that. When I do get somebody, I need someone to go to the hospital and get >> I'm going to go ahead and check your bra line. Okay. >> I'm going to check your groin. All right. And have a seat in there. Watch your head getting in. >> Just listen to me. I'm about to tell you something important, including a right you have. You're under arrest for driving while under the influence. I'm requesting that you consent to have your blood drawn and tested to determine the alcohol and or drug content of your blood. You have the right to refuse to consent my request. If you refuse to consent, you you cannot face criminal penalties for your refusal. Do you understand that right? You're under arrest for driving while under the influence. I'm requesting that you consent to have your blood drawn and test it to determine the alcohol and or blood content of your or andor drug content of your blood. You have the you have a right to refuse to consent my to my request. If you refuse to consent, you cannot face criminal penalties for your refusal. The cost of this additional test will be paid for by the law enforcement agency. Knowing your right to refuse consent, the possible consequences, and your right to an independent test, do you give consent to have your blood drawn and tested? Right now, I have to decide if I have to. >> Yes. Yes or no? Whether you consent to have your blood drawn at >> I'm not gonna have it drawn right here. I'm gonna have it drawn when I get >> It would be at a It would be at a hospital. >> Okay. Then >> the police calmly explained her right to refuse and the consequences that come with it. Still, she wouldn't budge. In the end, they had to get a court order because sometimes the truth doesn't walk in on its own. Sometimes you've got to drag it through the front doors of the law. bouncy and then it pulls out. >> Let me just throw on it. >> Put your arm straight. Sorry, I'm going to go. Okay, this one. I'm sorry. Wrong shape. Just get you to stand up for me. >> Put your hands behind your back for me. 2002. >> Well, I have to wait till I see the judge to get released. >> Yeah, you have to go before the judge. It's usually what happens. One second here. Like I said, this isn't the end of the world, okay? Just, you know, it's a reality check, right? >> Yeah. >> They can't beat me up in there, can they? >> No, you should be fine. Eventually, she was taken to jail and charged with DWI, causing serious injury, and refusing a sobriety test. The penalties, a one-year license suspension, hefty fines, possible jail time if someone was seriously hurt, and a permanent criminal record that won't fade anytime soon. On October 12th, 2023 in [music] Wisconsin, while investigating the theft of a $500 bicycle, officers happened to spot the suspected bike parked right outside the public library. But as they approached, what seemed like a minor case quickly unraveled into a chain reaction of lies and unexpected resistance. Wait, would you guys happen to know who came here with this bike parked outside or when I was here? [sighs] >> I don't I mean the only way I think is with the cameras you could talk to Barb. >> Okay. Where's Where's that? >> Yeah. Thomas, right? >> Yeah. >> Do you have an ID? >> No. >> Stop. Stop. STOP. Police gave chase and detained the suspect quickly. During the scuffle, a body cam was knocked out and temporarily shut off. Once in custody, Thomas confirmed his identity, but denied stealing the bike. His attempt to flee wasn't planned. It was impulsive, driven more by fear than intention. >> Are you Thomas? >> Yes. >> Okay. You got a warrant for some kind of sexual assault. What the? >> And you stole the bike. Do you got anything on you? >> No. >> Roll this way. >> Stay right there. Stay right there. >> Do you want my draws? >> Yes, please. >> ID is on the very bottom. >> I got it. No weapons. Did you take the bike yesterday? >> No, I said no problem with one of my friends. >> Come on, man. You're on video. >> I'm telling you the truth, sir. >> You're on video. >> I'm telling you the truth. >> What if I showed you the video? >> I'd still be telling you the same. >> Even while arresting a suspect, officers kept their voices low, mindful of the quiet library setting. It was a strange moment. Order being upheld, even in the middle of chaos. I'll phone text Sam that I'm going to jail. >> Who took you all over here? I saw the bike that you stole yesterday. Where we go? >> You okay? >> Yeah. You okay? >> Yeah. You didn't expect me to come over one, did you? Nope. >> One officer asked if Thomas was okay. Then Thomas somewhat unexpectedly asked if [music] the officer was okay, too. A brief bizarre moment of mutual concern. Oddly human. >> Nothing on you. I missed. Right. I'm positive on that. Just some light. Like I said, >> I need this pocket. Okay. I'm going to jail for a while anyway. >> Well, dude, why didn't you just talk to me? >> Cuz I'm scared. >> Yeah, but this had all been figured out. >> I still would be going to jail >> for the warrants. Yeah, but nothing else. >> So, I'm getting, you know, fleeing and a theft. >> We'll talk about it. You know, you're on video. I mean, it it is what it is at this point, right? Here, just wait. Well, I appreciate you not fighting once I got you down. There's >> no point. I know. I >> I would agree. Have a seat. 615. Go ahead. >> First name Thomas Middle. >> Go ahead. >> Thomas is male white. 6' 200 blue and brown. 6' 200 blue and brown. Has a 99 out of Wisconsin Division of Juvenile Correction. He has no license issued and he obviously is on paper. >> Confirmed. Do you need cover? >> Yes. >> Hey, how's it going? >> Good. >> Come in, you. >> All right. >> I just wanted to pop out and ask you if you think of the stuff that was left behind. >> I'll be going in there in a minute. >> Perfect. We just said behind the desk. >> Yeah. >> In the end, Thomas was charged with two misdemeanors. Theft of property and obstructing an officer. Both repeat offenses. If convicted, he could face fines, community service, or short-term jail time. On December 19th, 2024 in Ohio, police responded [music] to a domestic dispute between a mother and her 24year-old daughter. This wasn't the first time. The relationship had been strained for years, so much so that social services had previously stepped in, especially given the daughter's history [music] of mental illness. >> ignore this, but I was laying on the couch with her daughter and she jumped on top of me and I couldn't move. So, you know, I'm trying to get off. I had to yell for my other daughter to get her, but she said she's not coming out. >> How's your How old is this daughter? >> This one is 24, but she broke a gallon of paint that through the house. She's just terrorized the whole house. >> She said she wants restraining orders. I mean, you can >> she >> No, she she's not. >> She's me and my >> Can you Can you guys No, no, I'll talk to you. I'll do anything. Follow me. Please stay away from me. >> Hey. Hey. Stop. Stop. Calm down. >> My stuff's in there. >> My daughter's in here. >> She's standing right there. It's okay. >> I can't leave my daughter. Can you please follow me? >> What brought this home? >> Because she was sleeping and my son asked her told her to get up because her daughter was crying. I was giving her back. I was taking care of her. I always walk over here a little bit. So, we're not trying to stepping on each other's toes there. >> And um they started arguing. So, as soon as you get her flared up, this is what happens. You me somewhere with my kid instead of just like >> What was all the yelling about? >> Because she got mad because I just tried to hold her down. She said she was going to call cops. STOP CALLING COPS. STOP TRYING TO YELL for help. Why can't you just talk to me? >> Well, why are we holding her down? >> Because she was biting me and she was trying to call the cops. Stop calling the cops. THAT'S NOT GOING TO FIX OUR SITUATION. We need to sit here and fix it by ourselves. Cuz cops scare me. >> So, she was biting you and she was biting. I was just trying to hold her down so that people downstairs would come up and see. I'm just trying to hold her down and talk to her. I'm not trying to hurt her. She's my mom. >> So, what what escalated to where what made her bite you? >> I was holding her down like trying to get her to stop. Trying to stop like we need to talk. Stop doing this. >> They were fighting and arguing. I was like, I was going to call the cops. Well, then she kept going. She said she was going to get dressed in her dad's. So, I called her dad. Let's see who we I was just recording so you could hear, but um she slowed down the paint and it went from the bathroom all the way. I was trying to clean it, but she's just destroying everything and won't stop. I'm laying on the couch, not talking to her, letting her do what she's doing, yelling at me, and she jumps on top of me, and I can't breathe. So, I yell for her sister, help me. >> Why would your mom bite you? Like, what caused >> Cuz she wants to make me think I'm a problem. You know, I've been I've been sick. According to the mother, her daughter had been screaming, throwing paint, and destroying property, turning the home into what she described as an emotional war zone. Her behavior met the threshold for minor domestic violence, even as she [music] tried to explain her actions to officers. I'm exhausted. I'm in business. I'm exhausted, officer. >> This is playing mind games. Are you talking about your mom? >> My mom mostly. She was laying Well, she's she's bigger than me. So, she's like on top of me and I'm trying to push her up off of me and I did bite her to get her off of me cuz I couldn't breathe. But >> yeah. So, >> she's hit me upside my head. I do have a knot. It's just I can't take it anymore. I just can't. I keep trying and trying. She's screw that. She's >> through what? This >> Yeah, she's break the iPod or the cake thing. She's >> taking me to Sky Road with my daughter for the night. So I know I'm safe. >> Yeah, you can't do that. It's a little outside the jurisdiction. >> Get someone that can. >> How long have you been staying here? >> I I I live here. >> Okay. >> I have Mel coming in here and so do my dad. I I have Mel and I would like a straight order against my dad then. Can I get those five straightening orders and then I won't talk to him. >> All right. Well, take take a deep breath. Okay. You're extremely elevated. So take some deep breaths. Exhale out. >> So as far as training orders, you have to you have to go do the ground work. You have to go down the courthouse and fill out the proper paperwork to start that process. However, we have this whole issue between you and your mom of your mom biting you, you holding her down. >> I was just trying I know [clears throat] I'm I'm admitting my wrong. I'm trying to probably shouldn't have escalated up to that point. But >> I took pictures of the paint like cuz I was like I started cleaning it. But you can see there it's and it went clear to the couch. But oh that's cuz I came in here taking pictures of everything was down but >> but after she's screaming too >> and then she hit this on my head earlier and ignored that but then now she's with her open hand smack side of my head >> and you jump up and listen to me and it takes me to be like this before you listen to me. I hear you. I just don't >> So she jumped on you and kind of the four of them back. Yeah, she was on me. I don't really cuz Yeah, I was just trying to get her off and just I felt like I was being smothered. So, it was kind of just get off and she's just four on five floor. >> The daughter displayed signs of deep psychological trauma. Reporting past abuse, PTSD, personality disorders, and a long-standing mental health treatment history. And while her pain is real, blocking someone from calling 911 is still considered obstruction, a chargeable offense under the law. with myself and keep music going cuz if it gets too quiet I will start talking to myself and then I will not know if I'm in my head or not cuz I'm always alone. All I got is my kids start I'm always alone. >> So what kind of bad habits you keep on getting sucked into? >> Just like addiction or like my smoking weed. I got my my my medical so like if I can't get a ride out there I'll get weed where I can get it from and sometimes I not even realize it be it be legs and I don't even know. in every time I go to hospital. This time I realized they asked me about me. I didn't even they said I don't know because I didn't know I just smoked. I smoked before I even got in the car with the police officer but I'm so scared of the police officer because I've always been playing mind games and I always I don't call the police but my family's always called the police and I always I always don't call the police cuz I want to prove my rights with you guys and my family and I >> What do you mean by what do you mean by mind games? Ever since I was kid, it's just been mind games. >> Last weekend on her for 72 hours, she did this straight. She's not taking her meds like she should. >> Yeah, I I can tell that >> I don't want to see her get in trouble, but >> I can only take so much. And so her daughter was laying with me. I'm not fighting back with her. I don't want to fight with her. And I know if I keep my mouth shut after, usually after a while, she stops. But she come over and she picked her daughter up. And I thought she was just moving her to the couch with her cuz she always tells me I can't see your kids when she doesn't. >> Yeah, you guys live together. >> Um and then she come over and she jumped on me. And that's when you I'm 5'4, she's 6'4. I can't >> push her. I'm trying to push her up off of me. I told her to get off of me. I screamed to get off me at the top of my lungs. >> Mhm. >> And she just she wouldn't. But um >> any particular reason why she did this? I still couldn't figure out really like she was sleeping and she got woke up. She has a bedroom. Okay. The living room is the only bedroom I have and she knows that. But she stays in the living room. So my phone rang and woke her up. >> Mhm. >> And she just got pissed off. That one's not even playing for some reason. >> Do you have any marks or anything like that when she was holding you down? >> No. She admitted to going off her meds, saying she often feels lost in her mind, obsessed with cameras, and even begged to be arrested just to prove she wasn't crazy. Wanting to be locked up as a form of safety is a heartbreaking sign of severe mental instability. Officers had to tread carefully, weighing legal action against the need for urgent psychiatric care. >> Maybe that wouldn't be a good option either. So, >> okay, let's just see if she'll go in her room and Is the uh the child okay? So they don't account. >> Yeah. Yeah, that's fine. Unless she chases everything, that's fine, too. I'm not arguing with her. Whatever she wants is fine. >> So, Taylor, what do you want to do for the rest of the evening? So, my my I'll tell you what my perception is, right? I can't have you and mom arguing throughout the rest the remainder of the evening. Okay. Can you can we probably both agree with that? That's probably not good. >> Well, option two would be maybe you and your mom separate for the rest of the evening. So that way there's no more altercations. >> Can you take me to my dad's for the night? >> The only way the only way I'm going to do that is if I get a hold of your dad and he says yes. So I'm not going to randomly show up there with you. >> Will you will you ask my mom to call him for you? >> I can try that, but it sounds like he's also very upset with you as well. >> Then can you just put me in jail cell for 24 hours? >> Jail. Because I realize I love jail because the cameras >> you guys have CAMERAS ON YOU GUYS. HI CAMERAS. I love cameras cuz cameras have everything on proof. >> I'm not crazy. I'm just messed up A LITTLE BIT. THAT TURTLE SUIT ME UP IN THERE, GUYS. >> WELL, that I mean if you go to jail, it's probably going to be the turtle suit again. Probably. >> I would be fine in that turtle SUIT. PUT ME IN THAT TURTLE SUIT WITH NO SHOES, NO SOCKS, NO NOTHING. [laughter] PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE. >> NO. I got TO GO TO REHAB TODAY. WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? WHAT? WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? You're the one that wants to go to jail. >> Yeah, but I have rehab today. I can't. So, can we do it tonight? Can I be there at a certain time? >> Uh, that's not how that works at all either. >> No, take me to jail. Yeah, you're right. Take me to jail. I'll be that girl, too, for 48 hours until Monday. >> If if that's what you want to do, I guess you'd be under arrest for domestic violence. Let's go. Come on. >> Domestic violence. >> Yeah. Come on. >> Okay. Okay. I I can fight that with a lawyer. >> I've been working on an idea. >> You're the one who go to jail. Yeah, because I realized everyone plays mind with games with me. And the reason I'm not I'm not doing this no more. >> Though she voluntarily asked to be taken into custody and confessed to violent behavior. That didn't make the arrest optional. Still, law enforcement knew this wasn't just about crime. It was about the crisis. And they had to balance both sides of the response. Justice and mental health intervention. >> Just I need this other shoe. Can you help this other shoe? Mom. >> All right. Well, hang hang on. So, >> can you come over here? Stop acting scared. Stop yelling my land. Stop. Calm down. Listen. Look at me. Look at me. Two options. Option one, go to dad's house. Dad is fine with that. Option two, go to jail. Which one do you want to do? >> That house. >> Dad's house. Are you going to be able to remain calm? >> Yeah. >> Because if you escalate, it's going to be jail. Do you understand that? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Never mind. >> If not, tell them I'M GOING TO JAIL FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. WELL, it's not it's not going to be his fault either. So, >> no, it's going to be mine. I don't know why I'm not recording. >> Can you uh look for your shoes? Cuz either way, you're >> I'm shaking so bad, officer. I'm terrified to even be around you on your thing. >> That's not your phone. Ask for me. I don't need nothing. I just need the speaker, my phone, and my roaches and my food court. And you watch >> your dad. >> If not, I'm going to go to jail, man. in my cutout dryer. My speaker, my speaker, my punk. Where's the book bag I had? Where's my book bag? >> You're probably not gonna need any of that stuff. You have >> Yes, I do. >> I have court at 9:00 in the morning. You'll probably be o you'll be released. >> If I'm walking to my dad's, >> okay, take me to jail. Let's go. Take me. Let's go. >> Face that way. >> Back like a friend. >> Look at me. I got you. Yeah. >> How you doing? I messed by tell them >> I'm in there because of you. You and Jared. >> Not really mom's fault. >> You let him call him. And I'm going this to prove you guys something. Stop sending me to 1A. Stop calling the cops. >> Mom, you're perfectly fine with the little thing here. >> And you're fine with mom taking the little one? >> Hey, >> is there another one here? >> No, he's gone. >> Just a daughter. Okay. >> Am I Am I saying what's today? What's today? >> Side step to your left for me. >> I am stepping to my left. >> Okay. All right. That's fine. Do you have any weapons on you? >> Hey, help my anxiety help. >> Step over the puddle. Just have a seat for me. >> No, I don't need my Just just send me to jail. >> You just be in there for a few hours. >> That's all that matters. >> Yeah. Lean back and look out way for me. >> She was ultimately charged with domestic violence for physically assaulting her mother, damaging property, and threatening the family's safety. If convicted, she could face 6 to 12 months in jail, fines, a restraining order, [music] and/or courtmandated psychiatric treatment. On May 22nd, 2024, police were called to a bank after staff noticed an 18-year-old girl trying to cash multiple checks, [music] each one identical, each worth $1,500. Turns out, she'd been hitting up different branches, [music] pulling the same stunt. This time, the red flags were impossible to ignore. [music] You want to go in? >> Yep. >> What's your name, man? >> Gerber. >> Groover. >> Yeah, deputy. >> Ethan. >> Yeah. >> All right, >> this is Deputy Groover. >> Mhm. >> Just want to talk a little bit about checks you've been captain. I've got you training cash checks for $1,500. Got a couple different branches. One was here this morning, so I have that one right now. and we did do it for you because you're an existing client of ours quite a while. >> You've never had any issues. But then I also ended up going to multiple other branches cashing the same checks from the same person for $1,500. You just kind of looked a little more suspicious. So we were looking at it. >> I understand. >> You said that was your aunt, right, that wrote you those checks. Mhm. >> All right. How old are you? [clears throat] 18. >> Okay. So, here before we go much further, I'm going to read you your rights. Have you ever had your rights read to you? >> You have. Okay, that's fine. I just I'm going to read them to you >> just to speak to me. You don't want to You don't want to speak to me? Okay. All right. So, can you stand up for me? >> Can I put my hands up real quick? >> Yep. That's fine. >> And actually, [clears throat] real quick, since you're being compared, I'm going to definitely need you to take your cell phone out of your pocket. Is there anything else in your short at all? >> Okay. All right. Can you turn around for me? >> First question is, how did you become in possession of that truck? >> It was given to me. >> It was given to you by >> I can't tell you the name. >> Can you tell me the name? >> I don't know it. >> Just met. >> How y'all met? outside. >> 95 says what he said. >> He just met him my side. >> At first, she seemed cooperative, but soon the excuses started rolling in. Vague, deflective, and rehearsed. Classic rookie scammer behavior. She clearly thought she could talk her way out of it. But this wasn't some high school lecture. This was real heat, and she wasn't ready for it. >> So he told you it was his and you believed him. sort of kind of cuz I got money right this >> so what what he got money what does he do stuff scammer >> no he works >> where he works at >> where he works at >> can't tell [ __ ] >> so what you going to get yourself caught up with some shenanigan for some dude that up at the C. You say you didn't know him, but where he works at though? >> It's just a coach. He just coach. >> He's a coach, >> but I don't know where. >> Football team. >> I don't know. >> When When was that check written out? He hand it to you written out. What did you write when you got the cash up to the front? He wrote it back. >> When you signed the back, >> I signed the back. >> When you signed the back when you got here. >> So why you protecting this person if if he's doing all this and you're risking your name for the sake of what? >> So $1,500. How much he he cut you? >> I don't know his name. Like I trust >> What I'm saying though, if he >> I'm not trying to go to jail. I just turned 18. I don't even have a record, >> right? >> I don't want to be in this situation. If I knew old boy name, I would have told you about it. Like I said, man, these scammers, this is what they do. They get innocent people and do this type of stuff and you get caught up. Old boy probably give you his real name or whatever. He probably give you a nickname to run with >> or or you could you can know him. You just don't want to give information. Her strategy, distance herself just enough to sound innocent, downplay her role, act like she was just following someone else's lead. It's a common play with young offenders. Try to look like a pawn, not a player. But the story wasn't adding up. How many people were in the car? >> Huh? >> How many people in the car? >> Two. But he was the only one that you feel me. >> Who? He was the only one. What? He was driving. >> Yeah. So, who was in the passenger? Your boyfriend? >> No. >> Yeah, it was my cousin. But he's not involved in this stuff. >> He has to be involved in some type of way. >> He was just there for a ride. He is not involved. He wouldn't put himself in no position to go back to jail cuz he wasn't involved. Simple. >> Just old boy. >> They don't want to give old boy name. I don't know his name. >> You got no nickname? Something? >> You can't tell me he met somebody y'all y'all didn't exchange no name or nothing like that. >> You going to do this type of work with him? >> Yeah. It was just like starting to talk like he don't even know my name. >> We end up seeing each other at the store. It was like I was telling him go on my trip and he was like, "Oh, I got you. I got something for you. That's what happened here. I >> mean, right now you're looking at four felony charges. >> How many? >> Four. >> Four. >> Four. >> And that's >> Oh, you got to see a judge tomorrow morning and he's going to set a bond for you and you could choose to pay the whole amount or pay 10% of that. Your bond's going to be in a couple of thousand just to let you know. So, how many time beside this check, right? How many how many other checks he gave you? >> Two. >> Two more. >> Yeah. >> Those two were depositing your account. >> Yeah. >> By now, she'd already admitted to cashing three checks from the same person. Combined with her KG answers, the officers had more than enough to file organized fraud charges. And when they hit her with four felony counts, you could see it in her face. Reality hit like a brick wall. >> All at this bank. >> What other bank? >> 60. >> And where else? >> That's it. I didn't have my car full. >> Yeah. >> What am I even doing? Anyways, let me just tell you. I don't know his name. like dead serious. >> But he be on that. >> He's on a scammer. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, who's the middleman? >> I can't tell you that cuz that person does. >> Why did he have to get somebody to do it for him? >> You're right. That's true. [clears throat] My name's D. I should have paid more attention. >> I just don't know his name. >> I'm trying my name. So if I was to find that vehicle, do you think there would be more would there be more checks inside that vehicle? >> Maybe. >> Or other stolen stuff in that vehicle as far as fraud stuff? >> Maybe. Yeah. >> What would it be at? >> I don't know. You just have to check. >> All right then. Um, no. You don't want to tell me nothing else? >> I don't know anything else. >> I'm just asking. I'm just asking if you if you want to tell me >> whatever information. Like I said, so far I have nothing. I can't I can do my investigation, try to figure it out. MHM. >> JUST CUZ YOU'RE A POLICE. >> ARIEL, YOU WANT ME TO CALL YOUR MOM? >> NO. OKAY. Can you tell me what she's charged with? >> Uh, battery LEO, resisting with violence. Um, >> battery and resisting >> and then shoplifting and resisting retail merchant. >> Okay. Um, so four different charges >> cuz we leave in 3 days. So, how is that? >> And I I wouldn't be able to give her wouldn't be able to uh give her a citation if she was cooperative because she's not from around here. >> Because she's not from around here. >> Yeah, she's from Texas. >> Okay. So, it's going to be longer than 3 days. What you saying? >> It could be. I mean, I don't know. She'll have she'll see a judge in the morning. >> Oh, okay. In the morning. >> The officers relied on their body cameras to meticulously gather evidence, ensuring transparency and reinforcing the legal case. This approach left no room for disputes over what really happened. >> Yeah. Can you just stand by with her? She is violent. So, >> um I got to go in there. She's got family here. here. I got to collect some evidence. So, we lost her and there was another gentleman here and then she had two children. So, I put her in handcuffs and she's like she's like I'm already going to jail. She stands up, hits my face, pushes me with her chest and I'm like pushing her back down. So, I drag her out here. I'm like all right. And she dead weights and then kicks me in the face while we're back here. Nice. Good chunk of my finger. Yeah, she kicked me when I got her out in the car. You okay? >> Yeah, she just cut me. >> Where is it at? >> Right here. >> I'll have to take a picture. What did she do? How did that happen? >> She like at this point right here where I'm right here. I have a hold of the button and then she grabs a hold of my wrist. When she does that, my finger gets sliced by the button. Stings like a mother. You want videos of her resisting? We have the one in here twice. >> If you can save all of that. >> Everything's been saved. >> She admitted to everything. I didn't even have to read her Miranda. She said she admitted to stealing. She admitted to the battery. She was doing it as she was. >> Yeah. I don't understand. Like she's like, "Get get my kids out of here so she can act cool even more." >> She wants to keep her trespasser, too. >> I let me roll. >> Just tell her not welcome back on the property. So, you're not going to be allowed back here. >> What about you telling me nothing? >> I'm here. >> You've been trespassing. >> Oh, >> can you just go ahead and like just refresh my mind? >> So, she tried to pay with the EBT. >> Yeah. >> So, she's at the selfch check. >> She scanned stuff. She was concealing stuff under the bags. They She had to cancel it and went to a register where she only paid from Dr. Pepper and then walked out. >> Okay. And when I was over there, she grabbed like she grabbed my arm. And >> can I take a picture of your uh to go home? She grabbed your this arm. >> She grabbed this arm and pushed down. >> Ain't nobody do that with fat ass brakes. >> I got video of it. >> JUST GIVE IT TO THEM. >> I'm not giving them any. >> You don't need to TAKE IT TO JAIL. >> OKAY. WELL, I CAN'T take it all to jail. So, it be turned into this property. >> I can't do that. >> I sure can. Do you want me to hang out here until you're done? >> OH MY GOD. >> I SHOULD BE FINE. SHE'S JUST GOING TO BE >> THE WHOLE CAR NEEDS TO GO. I CAN'T I I DON'T WANT >> LISTEN, I DON'T KNOW IF I'M okay with releasing a car, but I have to know who you are at least. >> Well, I know I'll give you everything for her. >> Okay. That's why I was asking you over there. That's why I was like, I'm not releasing anything. >> What's your name? >> Heather. >> Heather. What? >> I I kind of get now why she wanted her kids out cuz so she can act up and resist arrest in front of her without it being in front of her kid. At least >> our kids here. >> They were here. And then she was like, "Yeah, let them let them go." I let them go. And then she starts resisting. Let's go. >> YOU SAID I RESISTED BEFORE. SO WHAT DO YOU MEAN? >> YOU SAID I RESISTED BEFORE. SO WHAT IS IT? >> SO you resisted a retail merchant. >> You were literally lying on me. >> Okay. And then you resisted arrest and then you resisted arrest out here and then you battery Elio when you got in my car, kicked me in the face. >> Yeah. It's it's my fault that you stole, right? You admitted to stealing before I even got you in the office. >> Make sure you turn in that camera. >> Oh, it's going to be turned in. >> Is the groceries that she bought is that being kept? >> She didn't buy anything but a Dr. Pepper. >> She bought She stole everything on her seat. Where's he? >> Yeah, she So, what? >> Here's her purse. >> Thank you. >> Don't I I cannot release I just want you to understand. I cannot release anything. If I don't know who you are, it don't make any sense. No, it's cool. >> And then she comes back after me like she's been doing this whole time and says, "Oh, it's it's stolen. >> It's stolen." Well, I'm just letting you know my point of view. It's stolen. And then she tries to come after the police department. Well, I handed it to you, but I never got your name. And then they look at me like I'm the security. So, she went to a register. She scanned everything. There was an issue. And then >> they avoided the transaction. She went to another register where she was supposed to ring everything up. Well, she only pays for Dr. Pepper. And then she walked straight out the door. Before I got here, they tried to confront her and then she tried to walk away from them. >> And then that's when she started this whole fiasco. So, >> okay. This is everything I need though, right? This is all her stuff she had with her. Okay, cool. And then you said one more time. The county, >> the Scami County. >> The Scami. You want to remember that? Scami County. >> Scambia. Scami. Scambia. >> Love you. >> In the end, the woman faced a barrage of charges, assaulting an officer, resisting arrest with violence, petty [music] theft, and the recovery of stolen property. Her bail was set at $5,000, and she was released 2 days later. In court, she made no defense against the charges. On October 16th, [music] 2023 in Ohio, a woman reported the disappearance of a $400 package from Victoria's [music] Secret. She provided evidence, including a delivery confirmation and a photo showing the package sitting on a neighbor's porch. After failing to retrieve the package through direct communication, the police were [music] called in to resolve the dispute. >> So, I came here. >> Hello. So, this is >> this is >> and I wouldn't care, but it's like $400 worth of stuff. It won't show up. But so, that's their front porch. There's the package. Okay. >> That little black thing right there. >> Yeah. And so, um, you can't get to their front porch because it's gated off. So, I went to the side door and I knocked. >> A younger girl came to the door, probably close to my size. Um, and I asked for it. They they gave me all these we weren't even home, blah blah blah blah blah. And then she she said, "Okay." I said, "Well, I'm going to call the police." She goes, "Well, you can call Victoria Secret." And I never once said where it was from. I just had a package. >> Okay. What's inside the package, if you don't mind me asking? >> Um, >> is it like a whole laundry list of things? >> Oh, yeah. Like, um, let's see if it shows the um like all of this stuff. It's $400 worth of stuff. >> Okay. >> So, >> I'm all right. Um, so she has a package that got delivered here and she want it back. >> Um, so she has pictures that the package was in fact delivered here and it was sitting right on your porch. >> That's what she said. >> Okay. I was in bed till 12:00 this afternoon with my dogs and as you can see they're very vocal >> and they were in bed with me and my husband was not here. >> So I believe if the picture shows that the package was here I believe her the picture shows that it was here but I don't do not know anything else. >> All right. Who all who all lives here? >> My daughter. Me and my husband. >> Okay. Would you mind bringing them out also? >> My husband. >> Would you mind bringing them out also? >> Pardon? >> Would you mind bringing them out also so I can explain the situation to them also? >> They were in Rocky River. He [clears throat] went together. >> The homeowner's attitude raised eyebrows, evasive and uncooperative. Officers patiently explained the legal consequences and emphasized the importance of cooperating to avoid being listed as a suspect. >> Hello. Hi. So, does anybody have any idea about this package that got delivered here? Cuz the package 100% got delivered here. We have p She has pictures of it. We know it got delivered here at some point. >> No, when we got home, there was nothing here. She I don't know. Answer this question. No, I wasn't fed till now. >> Okay. So, what's going to happen is I'm giving you guys the opportunity if you guys did take it to just give it back because if you don't, I'm going to do a theft report and all three of you are going to be listed as suspects. So, what's going to happen? There's a Ring doorbell right over there. So, I'm going to go knock on that door and figure out who came out and picked up that package and whoever did that is going to get charged with a theft. Okay? And that's $400 worth of stuff. So, either we give it back now, nobody gets in trouble or I figure out who stole it and they're going to get charged. So, it sounds like these people probably have it back >> most likely. Yeah. >> But they're not like >> they're not fessing up to it. And I even gave them I even gave him the out. I'm like, if you guys just have it, just give it back to them. Nobody gets charged. If you don't, I'm going list all three of you as suspects and then we find out who took it. They're being charged for theft. So, we'll see if they come out with the uh the package or not. >> Do you know what the package is? >> Yeah, it's from Victoria's Secret. It's a whole list of things like $400 stuff. It's >> a lot of stuff. >> Yeah. >> Were these people giving you like a hard time right away? I got an attitude from her right away. >> So, you're going to take the record on this? >> Yeah, we'll probably do it. >> Sure. Okay. It's pretty straightforward. You know, she ordered the things that actually got delivered here. She came to show up and was already gone. >> Do you have that information? >> I I didn't get that for you. >> Kind of waiting to see if they come out with the object and be like, "Oh, you know, here it is. >> Your package is on the way out." >> All right. Did you hear that? >> Yes. Thank you. >> Perfect. >> I'd rather handle it this way. >> I totally agree. >> And then not to uh >> It was open. >> Not to doubt anything, but I'm going to have her check to make sure all the contents are in there. >> Definitely needs to do that. >> Okay. Perfect. >> And if there is anything, I mean, we can compensate if that's what needs to be done. >> That'll be between you guys at that point. >> Right on. I don't >> I was made aware that package >> other than that I don't know. >> Okay. >> Eventually, the package was returned. The homeowner's mother admitted she had accidentally taken it, believing it belonged to her daughter. However, some items were missing. The police made it clear if the full contents weren't returned, charges would be filed. Despite the warning, the family's lack of honesty caused the situation to escalate. We had nothing to do with this. >> All right. Thank you. She's going to make sure that all the stuff is in here. >> Yeah. >> I'm going to go sort of in >> I'll just I'll stand by just in case. >> Who took the package? >> Who took it? >> Yeah. Like it was on your porch and you just grabbed it or like a mistake or something? Well, grabbed by a mistake by my husband and I'm the one who had it on the floor and I never even noticed the name. I thought it was my daughter. I didn't even look >> because she does a lot of stuff I don't know about. >> Okay. So, we did not do anything shady. I just said here without looking because I know I didn't order it and I just threw it at her cuz I didn't look when she heard that >> when she heard that they would would go to jail. No way. Or that I would. No way. We weren't going to go to jail for her. >> All right. She's missing about five things. >> What is she missing? >> I can ask her. They're all different itemized things, so I'll have to >> tell me. Well, I think you need to go ask. >> I suspect whoever has them knows what fire they are. >> Yeah, >> because they're all different things. >> Okay. >> So, I would I would have to verify with her exactly what things are missing >> cuz they're all different. >> If she could tell me, >> just go check right now. >> The discovery of some missing items in the house proved that the property had indeed been kept there. But the family's reluctance to fully cooperate from the start only deepened the officer's suspicions about their true intentions. She said that she has nothing else. You need to call Victoria's Secret on that one. And I believe her because I used to order from Victoria's Secret all the time and the whole order did not come because >> Okay, >> she needs to check somebody else. >> She needs to check with them. I used to order and he would get this. >> So that's what you think is most reasonable? >> Yeah. >> That that's what makes the most sense to you right now? >> Yeah, it does. because she was scared that that she she didn't she didn't steal it. >> No, >> I mean we're going through all this Victoria didn't send it. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. She's got the the itemized receipt on her phone and in the package. >> Okay. >> She's got the itemized receipt on her phone and from the actual inside the package and there should be 15 things in there. >> I understand that. But I have actually been sent >> it doesn't matter what they're going by what. >> Okay. I know that Megan said that she didn't have them. >> Let's talk to Megan. Where is Megan at? Why Why are we even talking to you? >> Is Megan at all? >> What the hell? Get Megan out here. >> Megan, get out here. >> Oh, come on. She said >> it was all in there. Victoria had missed seven items in my stuff. >> All right. What's your name? >> Megan. >> All right, Megan. You have one chance to get the stuff. You have five items still missing or >> they're missing the stuff. Ma'am, what do I do? What about Victoria's Secret? I go to jail FOR A YEAR AND PACKAGE having missing items for Victoria's Secret. >> That's why you don't take in packages that don't belong TO YOU. >> I DIDN'T. >> I threw it down to her and I didn't look at the name because >> I had order too. >> I didn't look at your name. I really didn't. >> And now because Victoria's Secrets going to miss it. I mean, I had seven items. >> That's fine. >> Basically deny taking it all together. >> Calm down. >> So you denied the whole thing. >> Wait. I wasn't even here when he was throwing. >> She had to leave the bay and I made sure and only >> No, wait a minute. David threw it on the floor. I had just my living area >> and she wasn't even here yet and I threw it downstairs. I didn't even look at the name and she said that I had ordered Victoria, too. >> Wait a minute. I >> I sure hope you do cuz this is your last chance. If you don't come up with those five things, you're being arrested. >> Why am I being arrested? >> Cuz we're not playing this game. She's not playing a game. >> I'm not playing a game. I don't I have I have a kid. >> Wait a minute. >> She's got a daughter >> and I have a new job. >> Has nothing TO DO WITH THIS? >> YES, IT DOES. I DON'T WANT TO GO BACK TO JAIL. I'LL GO TO PRISON. >> You said I'm from Victoria Secret. >> Go downstairs and make sure >> I did. I stay right here. >> Wait a second. Can I say something? I'm tired of saying stuff. >> This is [ __ ] I would go and I was getting here. >> Megan. Hey, stay out here. >> We're still talking to you. You're staying. No way. She's not giving you I'm giving you instructions to stay right here. Do you understand why people are I mean there's Stop. I'm talking. Would >> you all shut the separate >> You come down here. >> I'm tired. Megan, come down. Stay. >> No, I'm not coming down with cops. >> No, you are. >> What? Why? WHAT AM I GOING TO DO? >> STOP. >> COME ON. >> NO. WHAT? Don't touch me. Don't touch ME. WHAT AM I GOING TO DO? >> Shut up. What am I doing? >> Get inside. WHAT AM I doing right now? No. What are you doing? That's the wrong time. Get inside. >> You were yelling at Why didn't you say taking me to jail? >> We're not taking you to jail. You were detaining you right now until we clear this all out. >> Oh my god. >> Stop yelling. Stop. >> Please leave me out of handcuffs. This better boy out. Let me seriously have an anti. Ma'am, I don't have your order. >> Take a deep breath. >> Shut up. Stop. >> I don't have the order. >> Where's the rest of the ship? >> I DON'T KNOW. I MISSED seven items out of my order. I This is not a first for Victoria secret. >> Stop. Stop. Stop. >> I have no reason to lie. >> All of us want to leave and get on with our day. That's what we all want. Do >> you want to get my panties off? I mean, Jesus Christ. >> That's what we want. Where's the rest of the >> I don't have them. >> I don't believe you. >> Can I? >> Okay. Thanks a lot, Mom. >> No. No. Go check my drawer, Mom. GO CHECK MY DRAWER. TAKE ANY UNDERWEAR. >> I'm an avid online shopper, so you know, I mean, I don't usually there's not missing. So that's why I >> Yeah, that's why that's why I said to her, you know, one thing missing, I can kind of understand one thing missing, but five come, >> right? I mean, they're a pretty legit company, so you know, they have checks and balances, so you know. >> Yeah. I mean, I think that she took my stuff and that she was going to keep it. Obviously, I mean, I said I'm going to call the cops. >> Mhm. And they I mean there's no point that you open up all that stuff and you you don't realize what you order. So she did it. >> Yeah. I want to test service. >> This was the psychological breaking point. Faced with undeniable evidence, the family had no choice but to conduct a full search of drawers, bedrooms, and other areas in the house to locate the remaining items. >> Just stay wigging me. I don't know. Just take a breath. >> Just take a breath. We'll figure it out. >> I promise you, Victoria Secret has missed seven eyes my [ __ ] before. [laughter] >> I'm so used to I'm so used to being on probation. That's so bad. >> Well, it's good. >> My whole life. >> Let's go. Wall go. How about that? It'll be a big family party. Come on. >> Stop yelling. >> Please. Please. >> No. I asked him if I could go in there. >> Same volume she's talking. >> The suspect and her family were compelled to search every drawer, bedroom, and corner of the house for the remaining items. While some of the missing pieces were recovered, one crucial item was still unaccounted for. >> Being detained right now. I don't want you having access to your phone. Megan, sh >> Why am I being taken for this? I just got home with this [ __ ] >> You're not in. >> This is not fair. Mom, >> stop. The neighbors can hear. You don't >> That's all you worried about? Um, so I'm going to give yes then because we kind of need a definite yes or no. >> Yes. Yes. I was talking >> and I gave it back. I asked nicely, you know. >> She's not giving it back. >> Yeah. >> No, I told her to check. No, don't take me in. >> No, wait. No, don't let go. I love it. >> Well, we're passing this. >> What if I help? >> What if I paid for? >> Yo. Hey, let go. >> Okay. Penalties could include fines or community service. On a routine February evening in Florida, an officer pulled over a car clocked at 71 mph in a low-speed zone. [music] The driver, a 45-year-old woman accompanied by her twin sister. The officer approached the vehicle cautiously, ready for a standard traffic stop, but this was anything but routine. >> Good evening. I'm Officer Flynn Palm Beach Gardens. The reason I pulled over is going 71 mph. >> Do you have your license, registration, insurance? >> I'm so sorry, sir. >> Where you ladies come from tonight? >> I got to go to the bathroom so bad it hurt. Oh my god, it hurts so bad. >> Oops, wrong thing. I'm sorry. >> All right, give me one second. >> From the get-go, the driver's overly defensive and fearful behavior raised a red flag. These reactions often signal an attempt to evade scrutiny. Instead of compliance, she seemed determined to escalate tension, possibly to delay or disrupt the investigation. >> If you go and step out me real quick, I want to make sure you're all set to drive. I'll have you on your way home. Okay. >> Make sure you're not under the influence. Okay. >> I'm scared right now. So, why would you think I'm under the influence? >> Hi. >> Hey. >> Make sure you're not under the influence. Okay. >> Or looking in my purse. >> Cuz I can smell it. I can see it. And >> you see it and smell what? >> Well, your speech is slurred. Your eyes are watery. I can smell coming out of the car. If you're If you're all right to drive, you'll be on your way home. It'll be no problem. >> Exactly. But what are you trying to do to me right now? >> I'm trying to make sure you're all set to drive that you're not driving under the influence, just like I told you before. >> Okay. Cuz you know, you need somebody to come here. >> Don't call anybody to come here right now. >> No, I'm calling my my little brother and I have the right to do that. Tell them to tell them to keep their distance. >> All right. I'm scared, too, that you're not getting out of the car. So, go ahead and step out, please. Okay. >> Out of the car, so I'm turning on the light. My hands are up. I know I'm black. My hands are off. I'm a woman. I'm not I'm not a threat. >> I know I'm a police officer, and I don't know why you're acting like that. >> Nobody's hands are on their guns. So, please go ahead and step out. >> My hands are on the wheel. I don't have >> We can see that our hands are up, too. Let's go. Please step out, man. Please come on out. >> Come out. Do you see where it's pointing? >> Oh my god. >> Please go ahead and stand over there. >> Let's go. Right over here. >> Please don't say this is happening. >> Okay. Do you have any medical condition with your eyes not corrected by glasses? >> Any medical condition at all? Oh my god. >> Okay. Are you able to walk a straight line? >> I can walk whenever you want. I'm Because you white. I'm black. I I don't want to give you racist. So why are you being racist? >> My husband. Why are you being racist? My husband, where are you going? My husband is right. >> Stop now. >> Come on over here. Stop doing that. Stop acting like this. You're acting like a child. >> I'm afraid. I don't know what to do. Stop going over here. I just walked my hands off. I have to walk. I promise you I don't have anything. So Oh my god. Um I um You got my license. My license. All you have to do Oh my god. Iraight line. Why are you not listening? Why are you not listening? >> I walked a straight line. >> Why are you not stand? All you have to do is stand. >> My hands are up. I don't have no weapons. We're trying to deal with it. >> Listen, don't tell me to get back in the car. >> I WILL TELL YOU TO GET BACK IN THE car because you're INTERFERING WITH OUR INVESTIGATION. GET IN the car. >> Talk to me. I don't want to die. >> Why are you acting like a child? Why are you acting like a child? >> I DON'T WANT TO DIE. >> Stop acting like a child. >> You get out of the car again. You're going to jail for resisting obstruction. Do you understand? >> I didn't do anything wrong. >> Well, first of all, you were speeding and I I want you to stop talking. >> I want to potty so bad. Please, my hands. >> I want you to stop talking. >> My hands are all What do you want me to do? >> Stop talking. Stop talking. >> Oh my god. What began as polite cooperation quickly spiraled into an emotional spectacle. The officer, maintaining calm and professionalism, repeatedly asked her to perform a field sobriety test. But instead of following instructions, the woman raised her voice, trying to create distance both physically and emotionally from law enforcement. >> An action to participate in these exercises will force me to make an arrest based on the totality of the circumstances >> as I know them to this point and it will be used against you in court. Are you willing to do these exercises? Yes or no? >> Saying I'm so afraid, right? >> Okay. So, I'm going to tell you one more time. Not doing these exercises is going to force me to make an arrest based on the totality of the circumstances and it will be used against you in a court of law. Are you willing to do these exercises? >> Exercises, sir. Just don't kill me. >> So, place your hands down at your sides. >> I'm scared. >> Place your hands down at your sides. >> Why? I want to let you understand because she is under the influence. Because I'm not UNDER THE INFLUENCE. PUT your hands down at your side. >> Why do I HAVE TO I'M AFRAID. I don't want him to think I got weapons. I DON'T HAVE NO WEAPONS. >> Did anybody say you had a weapon? >> Oh my god. I'm afraid I'm My hands are up. I have nothing. >> Ma'am, listen to me. >> Listen to me. >> Ma'am, you accuse me of drinking. I know. >> She didn't accuse you of anything. >> She said she must be on the influence. Exercise you want me to do. What exercise you want me to do? >> I want you to stand right here. >> I'm afraid to come close to you. >> I want you to stand Well, if you don't come close to me, I'm going to come close to you. Okay. >> Okay. So, bring your feet together. Hands at your sides. Hands at your sides. Hands at your sides. Hands at your sides. Nobody said you have a weapon. >> I have nothing. Not >> see the top of this pen. >> Oh my god. >> You're not listening. >> Of course, I see the top of the pen. >> Lower your hands to your sides. >> Morel, did you call for help? >> Lower. Your help is here. >> I hope I No, you're not my help. >> You see the top of this pen? >> Oh my god. >> Maybe if you stop being racist for a second and listen. >> I'm not being racist. I'm afraid for my life, dude. >> Why? Because you're being racist. Because you are being racist. Are you behind me, sir? You ready to take me down? >> You're making us more. Come on. >> I don't want to die. I didn't do nothing. I don't want to get hurt. I just want to die tonight. >> You're going to follow this. >> I just don't want to die tonight. Please don't kill me. >> You see the top of this pen? You're going to follow this? Stop talking. >> I don't want to die. >> Her defiance and refusal to cooperate were blatant attempts to obstruct the investigation. She acted as though she was the victim of oppression rather than someone evading a lawful procedure. With tensions rising, a supervisor arrived on the scene to assist. >> I promise you I didn't do nothing. >> 10:15. You're under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol chemical control substance. >> I'm under arrest for what? Because you failed. He killed you a couple times. >> I'm so Well, you shouldn't have been. There's no need. >> You don't even have tears, ma'am. You don't even have tears. >> It's all in there. She's being racist out here. >> Lurel, can I ask for the supervisor? Can I help the supervisor? >> Sure, you sure can. I will call the supervisor for you. Draft 13. I have a supervisor. Individual is not happy with my police service. >> Maria, come get my drink. Oh, she threw my stuff on the ground. >> She threw my stuff on the ground. >> I'm taking it off, gentlemen. >> I'm so afraid. >> What did my sister do? What did my sister do? >> I want to be safe. >> You're the safest person in the city. You have police officers with you. >> No, sir. No. It's too much going on. I don't feel safe. >> Ain't nothing going on. Omg, >> what are you doing? >> Is this connected? >> My god. Are you Are you taking my wig off? It >> is sewn in. Then you'll take it off at the counter. >> Oh, I'm being arrested. >> You are being arrested because you did not you didn't participate in the exercise, >> sir. I walked A STRAIGHT LINE. >> I didn't tell you to walk the straight line. >> I didn't tell you to. >> Omg, I got to pee so bad. >> I wonder why you got to pee so bad. >> I was drinking a lot of water. I had sparkling water. Kayen, you should have done the exercises. It would have had no problem. >> It's sold in, sweetie. >> I need to check to make sure you don't have any It's I feel metal, ma'am. So, I have to make sure you don't hurt my officers. >> Oh, I'm in cuffs. I'm going to hurt an officer. I'm in cuffs, ma'am. I cannot hurt somebody. >> I am. >> How can you do all that and not have tears? That's what's interesting to me. >> I I that you're trying to cry without tears. >> I just don't want to get hurt, dude. >> You acted like a child the whole time. That's why you're a child of I don't want to get hurt. Morel, look at my wallet. I have my attorney in the wallet. Please call my attorney right now. >> We're not going to talk to him. >> No. Morel, just call the attorney. Please. Please don't break that. Ma'am, >> I didn't. I've been taking very much care. >> Thank you. Morel, please call my attorney right now. >> She right now she's under arrest for suspicion of DUI. >> Why? I just want to confirm you just you just took a necklace. >> That's my twin sister. She didn't do and here's a bracelet. >> She didn't do anything. >> Okay. Well, all she had to do just going home. >> Ma'am, can I speak? I'm talking I'm talking to you calmly and respectfully. Okay. >> I'm a 45y old woman. I thought an idiot and I'm an educator. >> So, don't talk to me like I'm an idiot. >> I'm a 40-year-old man and I'm talking to you with the same respect that I get from you. >> So, please don't talk to me like dumb cuz I may be very, very smart. All right, I'm trying to explain to you the process on what's happening. >> Despite the driver's uncooperative demeanor, the officer remained composed, using clear language to explain each step of the process, but her behavior left no choice. Obstruction and belligerance led to her arrest. >> Sergeant Leler, for transparency purposes, this discussion is going to occur on body warn camera, sir. >> Okay. I pulled this vehicle over because I observed it traveling 71 miles an hour in the in the outside through lane. Vehicle slow rolled to a stop right here. Upon contact, I made contact with that woman in the driver's seat, Miss identified by Florida driver's license photo. Upon contact, I noticed that she had glossy eyes, slurred speech. I detected the odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage coming off of her breath. Gathered her information, went back, conducted my records check, waited for 94 to arrive so I could resume my investigation. Asked her to exit the vehicle. She starts pulling out the phone. She gave me a little bit more of a hard time going back and forth with me about getting out of the vehicle. Finally, she exited the vehicle on her own report. I tried to ask her if she had any medical conditions which would affect any of the exercises performed. She started yelling, walking with her hands up, saying that she was scared. I asked if she could walk a straight line. She proceeded to start walking down the white fog line without being told to do so. I then got her to about where she's standing with Officer Riggney over there. She stood like this with her hands up. I kept telling her, "Please lower your hands." She kept saying, "She doesn't have a weapon." At no point was a weapon drawn on her. At no point was my hand on my gun. At no point was she accused of having a firearm or any kind of weapon that would harm us. She kept saying she was scared. I attempted at least two times to advise her of her tailor warnings, to which she kept yelling and talking over me. Then she said she was willing to do whatever that we needed to do, but kept her arms in the air and would not approach me because the HGN has to be conducted within 12 to 18 in away from the person. I held the um stimulus device in front of her face. She would not look at it, would not would not participate. She was instantly placed under arrest and you can hear over there still hollering. She requested for a supervisor. Okay, that's where we're at. >> So, you make an arrest based on your observations and her refusals to >> Yes, sir. She She did not dispel my concern that she was driving under the influence and I tried to explain that to her. However, she kept talking about supervisor. >> What can I do for you, >> sir? He pulled me over. He accused me of being intoxicated and he can feel smell alcohol or whatever. I had to go to the bathroom really bad and I I was speeding. I never denied that cuz I was trying to go to the ladies room. Okay. But when he pulled me up, he accused me. As soon as he accused me, it made me defensive and I was afraid. And I say, "Sir, I got my hands up. I'm touching the wheel. I'm not doing anything." He said, "Come out and walk a straight line." I walked this straight line with no problems. Then he said, "Okay, I need you to do additional things." And then he um said, "No, you're not complying. I'm arrest you for what? I don't know. I've never been in trouble. You check my thing. I don't want to die tonight." That's all I told him. I got out. I walked this straight line. Now I'm in handcuffs. >> All right. Well, there's a series of tasks that he has to ask you to perform. >> I don't mind. I had my hands up cuz I was afraid to let him know I have no weapons or anything. >> One of the major things of those tasks is listening to instructions is one of the major points of it. >> I'm trying to understand why I'm being detained. >> Well, you're under arrest now. >> I'm under arrest for what, sir? >> Suspicion of DUI. >> Suspicion of DUI. I don't have any DUI. >> Sir, when I came up, she was yelling. He was trying to give her the instructions. She just kept >> I say I want to make sure I don't die. I don't get hurt. Please, sir. Please. I will listen to anything he does. Ma'am, I'm not going to run at all. I don't need What do you want me to do? >> She was transported to jail for a breathalyzer test while her family arrived to pick up her twin sister. The test results were damning. Her blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit. >> Please don't hurt me. Please. >> I'm complying, ma'am. I'm going to go in here. >> Please don't hurt me. >> Turn around. It's better that you put your >> I'm compant I'm companting. Please don't hurt me. Please don't hurt me. I'm companting. I'm totally compliant. >> I understand. >> For what it's worth, calling an attorney right now is not going to do anything. >> She's getting released in 8 hours regardless. An attorney's not getting >> you do your thing then. >> I'm being arrested. I'm 45 years old being arrested for what? >> Driving under the influence. >> I'm not under the influence. Could you Can I get a drug test? Can I get an alcohol test or something? >> All that at the >> Do the test. It's not going to say I'm under the influence at all. >> That That'll be explained to you down there. Officer Flink will explain everything to you. Okay. >> Brothers and other family members arrived to take the twin sister home. Uh-huh. >> When I came out, the officer, the driving, the DUI officer was trying to give her instructions and gave her her tailor warnings and kept trying to explain to her, listen, if you don't do this, I have to go on what I have. She refused. She was giving home warnings twice. It's basically saying this in summary. We're going to take you on what we have right now if you if you're refusing to do these these tasks to show. And she just she wouldn't listen. She just literally just kept screaming and don't get near me and you don't get near me and I'm afraid and so >> everything we do is standardized. >> Yeah. >> She'll be able to >> No, I'm just asking. >> She'll be able to call you and everything's set. The first part of it, she will be uh given the breathalyzer, which she kept saying she wanted to take. If she wants to take a drug or alcohol, she she can do that at her own expense for the blood. You can do it right on the spot. We couldn't even get her to do any like basic tasks. Like she wouldn't do anything. The only thing she kept screaming at us was don't hurt me. You're going to kill me. Like all this stuff. And that's where we're at. She didn't want to participate on the task that needed to be done. >> So, you know, it just you can't just go, "Okay, you don't want to do them, so drive off." >> You guys have anything else for us? Appreciate you coming to pick up the car. We didn't want to tow it. >> Gentlemen, thanks for coming. Okay. The woman [music] faced charges of driving under the influence DUI and resisting arrest. In court, she was found guilty, fined $300, and her driver's license was suspended. May 11th, 2023, at a public restroom in Key West, Florida, police responded to a report from a city worker about a woman who had been in the restroom for too long. Here's what happened when the officers arrived. You >> got ID on us? No, >> you don't. >> No. Why am I Why do I need to give you my ID? >> Because I'm conducting an investigation. >> What's your name? >> I'm going to report you when I get done giving information that I um I need and I'm I'm putting this I'm telling my feminist. My name is Maya. >> Can you spell the first name, please? >> Hell no. You can do it. Do you need to see my ID? You asked for my ID, right? Yes, I did. >> Okay, let me give you my ID so you can shut up talking to me. >> All right, ma'am. You can lose the ads to her or just put you in handcuffs. >> You can do what you got to do >> because like I've already submitted documentation to the Justice Department female here because I don't want a male touching me. >> No, I don't. That's not how this works. >> That is how that works. >> You're not in control here, ma'am. >> Yes, I am. >> So, I'm going to tell you right now, you can lower your voice. I'm going to put you in handcuffs and take you to jail for disordered conduct. Provide me a form of identification. I don't want a man touching me. You need to go. >> That's not how this works, ma'am. >> No, it's not. >> We'll see. >> We will see. We will see cuz I'm going to put you in handcuffs and take you to jail. >> Okay. >> It was unsettling to see a woman refusing to leave a public restroom, raising questions about her well-being. [snorts] >> Public restroom. You said I was disorderly conduct. What was what was the the conduct that I did? I have on camera said I'm going to jail for disorderly conduct. Yes, he did. He did say that. >> I'm not going to sit here and argue with you. >> I'm about to play it back. Hold on. >> What I said was, "If you continue to yell at me, I'm going to arrest you for this whole condo." That's what I said. I don't need to see that. I was standing right here. I said it to you. >> What I said was, "If you continue to yell at me, >> you'll get it back when I'm done." >> Okay. >> What I said was >> Hold on before you continue. >> I've been recording the entire time. I don't care. I'm recording. >> What I told you was that if you continue to yell at me and try to yell over me, I'm going to arrest you for disloyal condom. That's exactly what I said. >> So, I don't want to continue to come into I don't want nothing to do with you or the police department. >> I don't care. >> Okay. I know you don't care. >> I'm here investigating a suspicious incident. >> Okay. >> That was reported by a a city employee. >> Mhm. >> And by state law, you're required to identify yourself when I'm conducting a legal lawful investigation. >> Okay. So, I did. I need my ID so I can leave. >> Like I said, when I'm done, I will give it to you. >> Okay. Last warning. I'm just going to put you in handcuffs. You're not going to yell at me. You're not going to scream at me. You need to turn around and film the rules and regulations of all the parks and city beaches. It has all the city ordinances right that are relevant to you right there because if you break any of those city ordinances, you can and will be arrested. Say what you need to say. Go ahead. >> When the officer warned her about her disruptive behavior, you could feel the tension rising. Ma'am, I'm being harassed and stopped by the police and I need help. >> All right. >> They won't leave me alone. >> That's still disorderly conduct. You're trying to involve someone who has nothing to do with this investigation. >> I'm telling you that I'm being stalked and harassed by the police. >> I'm telling you now, I'm going to put you in handcuffs for disorderly conduct if you keep trying to involve other >> saying that I'm disorderly because I'm talking to someone else now. Here's your identification. All these warnings will be annotated. >> Well, that's not very nice. That's very rude, actually. Goodbye, Miss Goldmith. Incounter. Damn. Is my subject calling 911? >> The woman left but simultaneously called 911 to report herself. Okay. Well, hang on cuz you're on the phone with our dispatch. So, we're just want to make sure you're okay. >> I'm asking for another officer. >> What's the problem with us? >> Um, yes. I Excuse me. No, it's okay. I'm going to find >> All right, Miss Goldsmith, come here, Miss Goldsmith. I'm not going to chase you. Come here. Put your phone down. Put your bag down. >> They're arresting me now. >> Put your phone down. >> Maya screamed and continued to resist as the police tried to restrain her, making the situation even more complicated. >> Turn around. Face the wall. Put your hands behind your back. I'm arresting you for misuse of 911. You do not have a legitimate emergency and you have two police officers standing in front of you. >> Let's go so I can report you. >> Stop. Face the wall. >> Don't touch me. I do not want you patting me down or anything. >> I don't care. That's not how this works. >> Okay. So, if you touch me, I'm going to I'm going to >> Okay. >> Do you have anything illegal on me? >> No, I do not. >> Anything that's going to poke me, stick me, cut me, blow me up, or give me radiation. >> Do not touch me. >> Ma'am, stop. You are not getting in my vehicle unless I search you. >> So you NEED TO CALL A FEMALE. DO NOTING TOUCH ME. >> That is not how >> if you touch me, I SWEAR TO GOD, I'M GOING TO KICK. I'm going to fight. I swear to God. >> If you touch me, I'm going to fight. >> Miss Goldmith, >> do not touch me. I'm requesting for a female officer. >> Miss Goldmith, >> there is not. Miss Goldmith, >> stop pushing me. >> Miss Goldsmith, you need to stop trying to pull away from me. >> I'm not doing anything, ma'am. You going to jail. >> You going to jail. You need to stop. >> You're going to jail. >> In fact, you are going to jail. >> Okay, let's go. I've been in jail. I know the procedures. You got the right one. >> Are you not getting >> So, you need to call for another officer. >> No, that is not how this works. >> Okay, so I did. So, you're going to be held accountable. >> Miss Goldmith, >> I'm not giving you permission to touch me. >> That is not how this works. >> Okay, do what you got to do, but I'm not giving you permission to touch me. >> Miss Gold Smith, you need to stop. Then we have another guy who's got a broken shoulder, one of your passengers, and then there's there was a female that was in the back with the boys, and she has a broken leg in two places, but you guys got off pretty easy. >> Yeah. >> So, all right, let me go see if I have that medical release, and we'll >> Do I have to get it like released and keep it off? No, no, no. I'm not taking that. >> Signing a medical release to have his your medical records turned over so they can use them as evidence in the trial against your friend >> because you're since you were injured. Yeah. >> A broken bone is a substantial injury. You would be considered a victim and it would be account of the killer assault. >> Oh, okay. >> So, you're just know at this age, how old are you now? >> Yeah, I'm 15. Got to be 16 next month. I know it's hard to see this stuff because you guys it physiologically your frontal lobe isn't completely developed and it's hard for you to understand the consequences of some of the stuff and it's all just seems like fun and games. >> Yes, sir. >> But this is unfortunately the result of that, right? >> Yes, sir. >> And do you really want to stand in front of that guy's family and say we were just it was just a stolen car and it was just for fun to a family who's now lost who's you know >> his kids without a dad, his wife is without a husband >> and it's all because I'll never do it again. I learned that it's terrible. You never should do something like that anymore. >> I have no doubt you're probably a good kid, but good people can make bad choices and hang out with the wrong people. >> Yes, sir. >> Have you ever stolen a car yourself? >> No. That was my first ever time just being there. I was just there and I didn't know what to do. I don't know. >> It's pretty obvious the car was stolen though, right? >> Yeah. >> How did you know it was stolen? >> Um, he was I mean he ran from the cops, >> right? But did you notice he didn't have a key and the wires were all hanging out? >> Yeah, I did notice that. Yes, sir. So, >> and yes, your mom's upset with you, but why do you think the main reason she's upset? >> Um, because it's because obviously you're a flight. >> Yes. [music] >> Eventually, the 16-year-old driver was arrested. This time behind the wheel of another stolen car.
