I saw you. On July 21st, 2024, Officer Stinson in Missouri was assisting fellow officers in tracking down a stolen motorcycle. Using location information provided by the owner, officers followed the signal to the area and then split up to search separately. A motorcycle was parked on the lawn. As officers approached, a man standing nearby nervously ran away. Officers immediately chased after him. About 4 minutes later, officers brought the man back to the patrol car in handcuffs. Sitting in the driver's seat, Officer Stinson began questioning him about the motorcycle. The man identified himself as Andrew Caldercamp. He claimed he had not stolen the motorcycle and said he had bought it cheaply on the black market. After gathering some basic information, Can I ask you a question? Mhm. I I didn't see you guys behind me for a long time. What is We we we didn't The owner of this bike is tracking me, okay? Officer Stinson stepped out [music] of the vehicle to examine the stolen motorcycle with the other officers. The moment the officer got out, the man's pain expression immediately relaxed. But when the officer returned to the car, [music] the suspect instantly pretended to be in pain again. To lower the officer's guard, [music] he even deliberately struggled and exaggerated his movements. Claiming the handcuffs were too tight, [music] the suspect's dramatic behavior convinced the officer that his unusual movements were simply [music] due to discomfort and the officer never suspected he might be able to slip out of the handcuffs. The officer then stepped out once more to inspect the suspect's backpack with the other officers. Inside Andrew's bag, officers discovered a small amount of controlled substances. Their attention [music] became focused on the backpack and they paid little attention to the suspect's movements. After some maneuvering, Andrew managed to free himself from the handcuffs, keeping his hands behind his back. He slowly pulled out his left hand while officers [music] examined the motorcycle and searched the bag. His right hand suddenly shoved something [music] into his mouth, but the officers did not notice. The suspect then immediately moved from the passenger seat into the driver's seat.
