HEY! HEY! NO, NO, NO, NO! DON'T SHOOT! GET BACK! GET BACK! NO, NO, NO, NO! THIS INCIDENT TOOK PLACE IN CANTON, Ohio on the 18th of December, 2025. A manager at a local Walmart called police reporting that two individuals, believed to be a couple, were attempting to steal merchandise from the store. Officers from the Canton Police Department quickly responded [music] to the scene. Standing right in front of them were the two suspects they were looking for, 21-year-old Shawn and 23-year-old [music] Catalina. At the time, both were still holding unpaid items and appeared ready to walk out of the store. >> You didn't do anything crazy, did you? Okay, this should be a simple shoplifting charge. Officers [music] escorted them to the store's security office for further investigation. >> You got anything on you I need to know about? Are there any pockets? Snapple. I'm going to pat you down real quick, all right? That's cool. Nothing on you that's going to poke me, stab me? No. Shortly afterward, one officer conducted a [music] pat-down search of 21-year-old Shawn. The initial check revealed no weapons, but what the [music] officer didn't realize was that this small oversight would nearly cost him his life. >> Catalina? Right. What's your name? Zavier. What's your name? Zavier. Zavier what? After recovering the stolen merchandise, officers began documenting the suspects' personal information.
