YOU'VE GOT TO GO. >> NORTH CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA, May 7th, 2023. That afternoon, Officer Evan Kubic was on patrol when he noticed a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle had excessively dark tinted windows. For safety reasons, Officer Evan asked the vehicle to pull over for a routine traffic check. The driver complied. >> Hey, man. >> What's up? >> Deputy Kubic, Charleston Sheriff's Office. The reason I pulled you over, all right, is your improper lane use. You're all over the road. Back >> My car's on the right, so I was trying to find a place to pull over. >> Oh, okay. Okay. Um Do you have um your registration and insurance? Why do you have gloves on? >> I don't. >> Oh, you you're trying not to get Corona? >> I ain't wanting nothing to No, sir. >> The driver provided his license and vehicle insurance information, as requested by Officer Evan. However, after checking the passenger's identity, the officer discovered that the passenger was actually wanted by police. The suspect was identified as James Pierce. Officer Evan immediately called his partner, Officer Alexander Hodge, while continuing to talk with the suspect to delay the situation. >> Oh, I see it right here. You're good. I see It's registered to you. I see that. You just don't have the updated registration. Have you started that process? >> Yeah. I'm just waiting on it. >> Oh, it's coming in the mail? >> Yeah. They sent it to the wrong >> They don't They don't uh >> Huh? They sent it to the wrong address at first, and I had to go up there cuz I was waiting on it, and I waited a month. >> It can be It can be a pain. >> When Officer Hodge arrived, Officer Evan grabbed Pierce's arm and prepared to remove him from the vehicle. However, something unexpected happened. >> All right, hey, hop out. Hop out. >> Don't grab Don't reach for anything, man. >> I'm not reaching for nothing, man.
