Okay, I'm going to go ahead and have you step out, okay? >> Why? >> Well, because I told you to. Can you put those down? Do you have any weapons or anything on you like anything I need to know about? >> Am I being arrested? >> Uh well, we'll discuss that here in a minute, okay? >> All right, everybody, welcome back. We've got another video for you. This one comes from Cop Watch and it is fake cop claims to be working for the National Weather Service. I haven't seen it. Let's go. >> Oh, what is this? A wannabe police officer? >> Is he driving a diesel? That sure sounds like a diesel. And uh the National Weather Service, I don't think they have any cops. Uh so, if they did, they would be federal law enforcement. Um what are you going to do? Bust people for uh I I don't even know what you would even do. I don't even know what you'd do. >> [music] >> Cop Watch. >> Cop Watch is 5-6. [snorts] >> Oklahoma City police pulled over Manuel Nava for a moving violation. It led to a fake cop case. >> Hello. >> Hi. >> Officer Brock, Oklahoma City. License and insurance, please. >> Uh what's the reason for the stop? >> So, back there when you changed lanes, you changed your signal after >> This dude ain't passing a physical fitness exam, either. I know there's a lot of cops that look like they couldn't pass it, probably can't, uh but they did at one point. Uh this guy's a little soft. He's a little doughy-looking. >> changing lanes. You have to signal 100 ft prior to changing lanes. >> I didn't know that. >> Okay, so this is true. You got to signal, I think, some depends on can be as much as 250 ft, 100 ft. Um so, he didn't signal. This tells me that she want she's curious about the vehicle, as well. So, she got him on a Mickey Mouse traffic violation, but it still is a traffic violation and um this is good police work. You find something to stop them for, you got probable cause. >> Yep. That's how you change lanes properly. >> No. >> License and registration, please. Is this like some type of old police car or >> No, I'm I work at the National Weather Service. >> National Weather Service. So, what Why do you have your lights on? >> I was just I had them on earlier. I forgot to turn them off. I can drive with them. So used to it. Now, you might be wondering why she's just standing there. This is what we do sometimes. You just stand there. You kind of take a notice to how long it takes them to find their paperwork, um the driver's license, and then sometimes they'll sit there for 30 seconds, a minute looking for a driver's license, and then finally they'll hand you a credit card or something. It can be a sign of impairment. Do I think this guy's impaired? Not really. Um I haven't really seen any cues of impairment yet, but it's why we stand there and just watch you try to get your paperwork together. >> There. There's that. The registration >> Yeah, I don't need the registration, just the insurance. >> Okay, cool. >> No problem. >> So, this one's expired. Do you have an updated one? >> I have a second Yes, sir. Oh, I'm sorry, ma'am. >> Oh, okay. >> That's not a good way to start. He's like, "Yes, sir. I mean, ma'am." >> No problem. >> Sorry. I dropped that a while back. That was interesting. >> So, are you working right now? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Yeah, I was just on the highway. I was taking some video for him. >> Okay. >> I got my trick my tricorder right here. It's my little tripod. How are y'all tonight? >> Cold. >> Cold. >> Yeah, I got a little bit of frostbite on my toes from earlier this morning when I was out. It's bad. >> Yeah, it's not getting any warmer. >> No. >> You want to just give me your license and then you can keep looking for the insurance. >> Here you are, man. >> All right, keep looking for >> Okay, all right. Looks cold. >> Okay, I'm going to go ahead and have you step out, okay? >> Why? >> Well, because I told you to. Can you put those down? Do you have any weapons or anything on you like anything I need to know about? >> being arrested? >> Uh well, we'll discuss that here in a minute, okay? Can you unlock the door, please? Do you have any weapons on you? >> No, why am I being arrested? >> a firearm, anything like that? >> No, ma'am. >> Okay, go ahead and step out for me. Face away from me. Face away from me, okay? Put your hands behind your back for me. >> Uh-oh. She knows something. >> Release them. Like put your fingers together. >> Why am I being arrested? >> We'll explain all that here in just a minute, okay? So, she said so. >> Got some hinged handcuffs. >> So, before we go What's that say? There's all those lights. >> So, what they probably cut out is it sounded like to me like the other police officer was beginning to read him was going to get him ready to read the Miranda warnings cuz she said before we go any further. So, and then they probably cut that piece out and now they're jumping forward to the the next phase of the traffic stop. >> Well, he does have red and blue in the front. He told me he didn't. What does it look like from Oh, we should have taken a video of that for her. >> What? >> So, what they could So, it looks to me like now the tow truck is here. So, this is looks to me like an inventory of the vehicle, which is He's got a lot of crap in there, computers, radios, all sorts of stuff. You have to make an inventory of it so when it gets towed, they don't call He doesn't make a claim that you uh stole some of his stuff or the tow truck driver did. So, you have to make do a tow sheet. Therefore, you have to search the car, inventory the car. Let me rephrase that. Inventory the car uh for the tow yard for the tow truck. >> Oh, what is this? Would it be police officer? >> Damn. It's like a Volkswagen Jetta or Passat or something. >> There On the other side? The one unlocked? >> What are these? Is it just the lights or I'm I'm still wondering what it more information they have. Maybe they had some complaints that this car was pulling people over or pretending to be a cop. There's more information I feel like than what we're getting right now. >> L F C That's interesting. What is that? I don't It's a gun. Oh, shoot. I think I missed it. I think I missed it. >> So, he's got a gun in there. >> Uh shine your light again. See, I couldn't see that. He's got a gun in there. I can see that. >> It looks like a duty belt. >> Uh right here, so you can see the gun. >> Jacket off. >> What? >> He's got it. There's something right here and that's the gun. Yep. >> Oh, yeah. He's definitely looks like a duty belt. >> Looks like a Glock. >> Oh, that's >> Pepper spray. >> That looks like a a burner or some type of less lethal. Is that a gun? >> Firearm, yes. What about the thing uh >> I don't know what that is. >> Cuz he can't see that. >> That looked like a less lethal or non-lethal. >> I think it was a Glock. I don't know. I think he's got a firearm up there. >> The handle did look like a Glock. >> I don't want him to go to the keys, so >> Okay. Where are the >> I'm almost there. I'm afraid he's going to go. >> I can't breathe. >> Oh, yeah. He's He's going to be fine. >> Go. >> Um do you want me to just grab that stuff? Get out of your car. >> So, he's got his belt in there uh make to look like a duty belt. >> Okay. Um we're just going to get this one picture and then we'll be good. >> Junk. >> I want the sweater photograph. You want to just hold it up? Or put it on this one? Okay. Uh can you pop the trunk? >> We need to do the trunk to get a picture of that. >> You're coming. >> Look at that >> Oh, you naughty little boy. You naughty little doughy boy. He had that jacket that looks like a police jacket 5.11. Um, I don't know what the badge said, but Okay, so that's a uh looks like a bullet proof vest. Ballistic vest. Oh, that's an outer carrier. Definitely looks trying to look like a cop. Ooh, I had that patch. That's the sheepdog patch. There's another duty belt. Are these actually Are these actually ballistic vests? I think this one is. Probably it probably doesn't have real Kevlar in it. A real Kevlar probably. It's fake There's no Okay. Okay, that's >> hers and then we can go through the everything else. >> Okay. So So here's the issue that that we have, okay? >> Yes, ma'am. >> You're driving a vehicle that that says police interceptor on the back. You have a spotlight. You have antennas. You have red and blue lights like we >> It's a >> Only police officers should have those, okay? You don't work for the National Weather Service. >> I do work for the National Weather Service. >> An officer didn't give you those things to put on your car. So you're being arrested for impersonating a police officer, okay? Do you understand that? >> No, I don't. >> You cannot have a vehicle that looks like ours, that has lights like we do. You also have a sweater in your front seat with a badge. And you you have yet to provide us any type of credentials. >> I can provide credentials. >> We are >> Credentials for who? The National Weather Service? Please. >> We asked you for those. >> No, she asked me if I had my ID for a legitimate reason. >> So what credentials can you provide us? >> I'm a CERT official. >> For what? >> Community Emergency Response Team. >> So where is it? >> It's on my phone. >> It's on your phone? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Okay. Well, my lieutenant is checking with the sheriff's office to see if you do in fact work for their emergency management team, okay? But >> The sheriff's office? >> As Aside from that, you have all these other things on your car that you can't have. >> Um But I can have the ones in the rear. I can prove it to you. >> How How can you prove it to me? >> I can show you the state law. >> Well, I can show you the state statute, too, that says that you cannot have that stuff on your car. >> But I I can >> Anything that Anything that alludes to that vehicle being a police car, like i.e. the police interceptor sticker, you cannot have >> So these guys, man, they're the ones that pretend We've had a few of them, too, where they pretend to be cops. They're driving around. They're They got lights on their car. They buy some old uh surplus cop car. Um and then they ride around pretending to be cops with their computer on. I don't know what kick they get out of it. Uh maybe they're pulling people over, pulling girls over. We've had that in the past. I've seen that uh where you got a fake cop trying to pretend to be a cop and pulling ladies over. >> What you did >> The combination of >> The combination of the light, the police interceptor sticker, all of those things. >> Well, can I see your supervisor? >> Um you want to see him? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Or you want to talk to him? >> I'd like to see him. >> Okay. >> This was a partial record release by Oklahoma City Police from the stop. Nava was booked on felony impersonation of a police officer. If convicted, it is a maximum of 2 years in prison and a possible fine of $5,000 in Oklahoma. >> Well, I'm going to see if he did get any time. Let's see if we can find Looks to me like there's just talking about him being arrested. Uh I don't see anything about him his conviction. Let me check one more thing. That's a serious thing though. If you get caught pretending to be a cop, impersonating, it's a felony. All right. Well, I tried to look up and see cuz that's an older video. I tried to look up and see if I could find his conviction. I couldn't find him in the DOC system. So, I don't know if he actually did any time or if that charge stuck. Certainly a lot some a lot of news articles about him impersonating and getting arrested for it, but I don't see anything on it. Uh but I just honestly, I can think of a lot of jobs you'd want to do. This one is a cool job to do, but going out and pretending to be a cop, not only is it severely illegal, but uh I just don't know what kind of enjoy you're going to get out of it other than the exert power over people. Maybe that's their thing. So, um Yeah. Somebody said, "This is really going to hurt his chances of joining the US sk- the US Census Special Forces." >> [laughter] >> Uh he's like, "The guy really put a push bar on a Jetta? >> [laughter] >> Uh we need to be thankful for the national weather police. Without them weather could just pop up and do whatever it wanted whenever it wanted. Kudos to the brave men and women of that little known organization. Uh sometimes the comments are pretty funny. Anyway, let me know what you think. I mean obviously this guy was impersonating a cop. He wanted to go out and pretend to be a cop. And he was doing it under the guise of the weather. Um yeah. This guy was impersonating a cop. Got arrested. Couldn't find whether he got convicted. Uh but good job by them. Let me know what you think. Did he deserve to be arrested? Was he impersonating a cop do you think? Uh I'd love to know what you think. Comment, like, subscribe. I'll catch you on the next video.
