This one is by Police Insider. How to get your whole family arrested. I have not seen it. We're going to watch this one together and we'll see what you think. >> At about midnight, officers were dispatched after reports of multiple shots fired in a densely populated residential area. What began as a routine gunshot investigation quickly spiraled into chaos when officers found the culprit. And the reason turned out to be even more absurd. >> Did you guys hear gunshots? >> You did. >> Did you know where or >> this one right here? >> Come out. >> We got a report of a physical dispute angle terrorist. >> I already know it's going to be good cuz the night shift guys are on. These are probably the graveyard guys and uh because this looks like it's what 11 o'clock at night. >> Come see if you can have another uh town respond to Anglehart. >> Come outside. >> Come outside. >> Are you apartment B? >> What? >> What apartment number are you? >> Yeah. >> B6. >> B >> or A? >> What apartment number are you? A or B or apartment letter. Can you come outside, Cenota? Outside. >> Come down. Come down. Cenot. Come down. >> Yo, go take the front. Make sure no one leaves. >> Who's in the house? >> Um, my husband, my daughter. >> Okay. Come down. Come down. >> East Coast. >> What's going on? >> Do you were you guys playing? You guys have a gun inside the home or anything like that? >> Hey, how are you? Are you apartment B? >> No, I only see them listen music. >> It's supposed he jumped in that car. >> No, he he came out of that car. Where's that? >> Who else is in the apartment? >> Huh? >> Who else? >> My kids. My kids. My My >> That's it. >> Yeah. >> Now you lied to me because she said your husband's up there. >> Yeah, my husband. My kids. >> Can you all come out? >> Have everybody come out? >> Have everyone come out? >> With my kids? >> Yeah. Yeah, >> everybody. >> Everybody. But make sure your hands are Somebody said somebody shot a gun in your apartment. >> You understand? >> Yeah. >> Somebody said they shot a gun off. >> Did you hear that? >> Is speak funny. >> No. Do you know gun >> is there guns in there? >> We thought it was fireworks. >> I guess I'm saying right. Like what's going on outside? >> 165. The original caller from picking up the phone. >> We got to go 911. That's somebody. >> These are tough ones cuz you're showing up and you're trying to figure out who's who, what's what. Um, then all of a sudden people don't want to talk because they live next door to the person that might have shot off the gun and they don't want to be viewed as a rat. So, uh, these are tough ones to respond to. That's what, you know, they live. This is an apartment complex. I'm glad I live in a home. If you live in a home, you might be worried about your title. Do you know whose white car that is? >> No. >> No. You see the the white Mustang over there? Is it Mustang? >> 165. the original caller from the phone number. >> Well, it's here. So, >> you guys call in there. >> Oh, yeah. Can you open it? >> And it seems like everybody speaks Spanish, too, which is another challenge. >> The original caller described it as a tight fitting orange shirt and jeans that he was >> Hello. Did you hear any gunshots? >> We heard it. >> Yeah. >> I wasn't sure if it was firecrackers, >> but definitely some of those kids that went up the stairs downstairs or up those stairs up to that part >> because I saw them standing by the dumpster aiming up over that way and I saw the flare of the gun go off. Okay. >> The people who had fired the gun knew exactly why the police were there, but they still refused to come out until one of the officers approached the suspected family to talk. You mind just hanging out in the front for me, brother? >> Yeah. To the other side. >> On the other side. Yeah. >> That's where I came from. >> Uh, I have no idea, but apparently this person wants to talk to us. >> Okay. >> Look, my >> They're there. >> My >> Okay, let me go. >> 10 minutes ago or 10 minutes ago. Hey, how are you? Can you do me a favor? Just let me see your hands and just step out real quick. >> Yeah. >> All right. We got a call that somebody shot gun shot a gun in the air and they came into your apartment. Are you by yourself? >> No, not really. >> What do you mean? >> So when somebody goes, "No, no, no, not really." That's a sign that there were probably other people there. >> My voice. >> Is that their car? >> The charger? >> Yeah, >> that's my car. >> That's your car? >> Yeah. Who else you have in here? >> My girlfriend, her uncle. >> Okay. >> Yeah. What's going on? >> We got call and witnesses also said that they were in the car. Somebody let off a round. He came to your apartment. >> Yeah, I know. It was probably fireworks probably. >> All right. Can you have everyone sip out? >> It's supposed to be two males, by the way. Two males. >> There's more people in here than we thought, >> bro. At the end of the day. >> All right. You know what, guys? Do me a favor. >> No. This uh go down. >> No, not for this. >> Right. >> Look, you're standing on that staircase. It was making me nervous already just for the the officer there standing on the staircase cuz you get pushed over the one side back down the stairs. Being inside the house is going to be the safest place. [Music] >> Follow me. >> Hey. >> Oh, there's your boy. >> Listen, listen, listen. Come over here. >> Do you have Do you have a FAVOR TO GO? NO, WE DON'T DO IT because >> a paper to come inside the house. It's called a warrant, but they didn't need it. Probable cause. Making sure that everybody's safe. >> What happened? >> Why is everyone lying to us? >> Was there Is there a GUN IN THIS HOUSE? >> NO. >> OKAY. What happened? >> There's not a gun in this house. You can check the whole house. >> What happened? What happened? >> I don't know what I'M TALKING ABOUT. >> WE GOT WE got multiple reports. Guy in an orange shirt off my daughter, please. Give me a dollar, please. >> It's fireworks, right? >> No. Give me my daughter. Give me my >> Okay, I just needed a break from all the screaming. All right, let's go. >> You have too many people. Are you here? I know. What happened? Fireworks. You were throwing fireworks. Yes. Where's the fireworks? That's it. In my car. It's in your car. Can we go see them? No. Not going in my car. They're illegal. >> I get that. Cuz we got five or five 911s. Hold on. I get it. I get Let's go down. Let's go down. Go down. But we need him to come with us. He doesn't have to come. >> Yes, he does. Yes, he does. Oh my god. Yes, he does. No, he doesn't. Yes, he does. No, he does not. >> Yes, he does. >> He wasn't part of this. >> Then why are they all saying a guy in an orange shirt? >> I have no idea. >> People who don't have nothing to do with >> No, no, no. We need him. >> All right. >> Why is he taking him? >> We need to go speak to him. Why are you taking him? >> We're taking HIM OUTSIDE. >> GET HIM away from the kids. >> Okay. Why? Why? Because we have eyewitnesses saying he was shooting gun [Music] ma'am, not just him. >> Listen, listen. But listen, he's a >> do go back in. But we do need to listen to him. We need to talk to him. [Applause] >> WE JUST NEED TO WE JUST NEED TO TALK TO HIM. LYING TO YOU. >> The chaos these poor cops are having to deal with. >> IT'S NOT JUST HIM. >> THERE'S four or five other people. >> Can you take him in? Take her in, please. >> All right. No, no, no. >> Yeah, that's right. Can't let that guy back in. >> All right. >> Get him out. We need to walk. That's all we're doing. That's it. Don't let him back in. >> That's it. That's it. Let's go down. >> For officer safety, you know there's a gun involved, but well, there's an alleged gun involved. Shots fired. This guy matches the description. You can't let him back in. Even the girls going back in. You know, you're putting yourselves at risk. But this is a chaotic scene. So, I mean, I'm not going to sit here and armchair quarterback. It is uh there's a lot of people involved screaming, yelling. Everybody's making racket. At least you got this guy who's the alleged suspect. You can get him detained. Just as officers had the main suspect in custody for questioning about the shooting, his niece came down with him. A turn of events that was about to unleash a whole lot of chaos. >> There you go. >> Guys, you don't have to yell. I don't know why you guys yelling. We just stop. Come on, man. Okay, so that's assault, domestic violence. Boom. Put him in cuffs. >> No, not to me. Not to me. Not to me. Resist. No. No. No. Not to me. Not to me. Resist. No. Go upstairs. Relax. >> Guys, guys, guys. Hey, back up. You got to back up. You got to back up. >> We got to back up. >> He just punched her. It's all on camera. He just hit her. He just punched you. HE JUST punched me. Jesus Christ. >> It's going to be a problem. Simple assault. It's nothing. It's nothing crazy. >> It happened in front of us. We can't do anything. >> I know. I know. No, no, no. I'll tell you what's going to happen right now. Give us It's 11:29, right around 12:15, 12:30ish. You should be good to go. >> Up until now, police weren't sure whether they were dealing with fireworks or gunshots. Witnesses had claimed both. But while searching around the car, they uncovered the most crucial piece of evidence against the suspect. >> Yeah, there was there was a gunshot, dude. It's a shell right there. >> Don't touch the gun. Oh sh. >> Oh my god. >> Yeah, chill over here. >> Yeah, mult multiple shells. >> Yo yo every every >> boom. Now you know there's a gun involved. Found the casings. Um so the reason why they don't want to pick him up, they're going to photograph it because they don't know this guy could be a prohibited possessor. Um maybe this gun's involved in another crime. Clearly there's a crime here which is going to be a felony. popping the rounds off like that. So, they're going to want to make sure they did do this right. But it looks to me like now they're going to go back and take control of the rest of the house. >> Everybody outside the house right now. Everybody outside of the house right now. >> You're not in trouble, but everybody's going to cuff. >> That's good. Yes. I love these East Coast guys. >> Outside the house. >> So now you want to make sure the house is safe. Put them in cuffs. Anybody that's not going to get arrested can come back out of the cusp, but we got to got to make the place safe. Got to find if there's a gun involved. Um, obviously a crime now they have evidence that a crime has been committed. Pro much more probable cause to go in. >> He shot somebody. >> Why is there a gun station over there? >> I have no idea. >> Come on now. >> We don't need >> I have no idea. >> Talk to me again. >> I'm talking to you. I have no idea. >> Oh, you're being detained at this time. All right. >> Well, help me. >> You're being detained. Yo, help me, sis. >> So, we would probably try to get permission from the owner to go in, say, "Hey, can we go in? We're going to have to find the gun. If not, we're going to get a search warrant and we're going to lock this down until the search warrant comes back from the judge." And usually people will be will tell you, "Hey, yeah, go in and just go ahead and look for the gun." >> Police. police. >> Hey guys, you guys need to go outside. >> Why? >> Go outside for me. >> Why? >> So, this is a crime scene right now. Okay. >> It's a crime scene. I just need you to go outside. >> I'll explain everything. I promise. I promise. Is anybody else inside? >> Police. >> Hey, what's up, brother? >> I need you to step outside for me. I need you to step outside. >> You don't have any guns on you, right, brother? Please, please don't lie to me. Okay. >> I was leaving off me. Let's just go outside. >> I know. Somebody was shooting guns outside. They came for the poor kids. >> Let me go >> is the what? [Music] >> Cuff them all. >> Help everyone. >> We could look in my locker. >> I'm not I'm not looking. I'm not looking. >> Okay. Okay. I'll close it. Okay. I'll close it. Let's go. Let's go. >> Where's your shoes? >> Sierra Juliet. Juliet handgun in the vehicle. >> Are you still following me? >> No. There's an ambulance scene. Absolutely not. >> Can I use the vapor? >> No, dude. Not yet. Just give a couple minutes. All right. >> Chill. You got to do this [ __ ] Get out. >> Okay. >> Get out. >> Get out. >> Get out. >> You're going to get arrested, too, if you don't listen to me. Get the out. >> YO, >> DO YOU HAVE A COMPUTER? >> GET OUT. RIGHT BEHIND YOU. >> DAMN. You got to go. >> You're getting arrested. You got to go. You got to go. Let's go. Let's go. She has to go. She has to go out. Let's go. Everybody out. She's She's going to get arrested. >> Nobody comes in. All right. This is it. This is done. Yeah. Mia, >> nobody can't leave. >> Nobody leaves. >> While the suspect, Martinez, was being transported to the police department, he began repeatedly banging his head against the rear passenger side window. When officers tried to calm him, he started kicking them, injuring one officer's hand. >> Damn. >> Well, why is he kicking? What's going on? >> No, no, no, no, no. She's staying. No, Mia. No, no, no, no, no. She's staying. Stay over there then. >> Do not touch me. Stay over there. Not my little dad. Do not touch me. >> Go over that way. >> Okay, but don't touch me cuz you got no type of warranty to be my house. >> You got snitch right there. >> See, this is why a lot of people don't talk when you have a crime in an apartment complex. Now she's like, "You got this snitch over here." So, they're going to Yeah, they they're mad at the snitch now. Not mad at themselves for for breaking the law and committing a crime. They're mad at somebody else for actually talking to the police and telling them the truth. >> Put your hands on your back. >> Put your hands on your back. >> Face the car. Put your hands on your back. >> Make things worse for yourself, buddy. Down. You're going to make You're going to make things worse for yourself. Down. This why I'm a big fan of like on chaotic scenes like this. Get every get it under control. >> Yo, get your man off this. >> I swear to God. >> Get your man. >> You get in the car. Let's go. >> For what, bro? >> Yeah. >> He's going to be trouble. >> Hey. Hey, brother. Manto man. Are you guys part of a gang? Land Kings. You guys No, you guys part of a set or anything like that? Nobody. Okay. All right. Just double checking. >> And they said it's in plain view. It's >> in plain view. Yeah. >> All right. Don't touch nothing. >> Oh, yes. Right there between the front. >> We got one coming. We got one coming. >> So, we found >> Okay. So, plain view is important because when you have a crime to get into that car, you would need a search warrant normally, unless whatever you're looking for, drugs, gun, whatever, is in plain view. In this particular case, they see, I think, the gun in plain view. So that's why they use that term. >> Bullet casings outside of that challenger. [Applause] >> You might just stay here some Get in the car, bro. Get in the car. Get in here. What do you need? What do you need? >> Hey, my my right hand. My hair. My right hand. My hair is tight. Too tight. It's too tight. Okay. Got to calm down. They can't be coming. What happened? >> Good. Your right hand. Okay. Calm down. My Spanish is not good. Calm down. Calm down. Don't come at me, man. Don't come at me. You want to help you, don't come at me like that, >> okay? >> He just need He's his handcuff is too tight. That's what he's saying. >> They're not built for comfort. Sit down, >> Bobby. Bobby. Poppy. >> It's true. They're not built for comfort. >> You don't seem as bad as the rest of these people. Nothing, bro. Like, >> all right. Just you're detained for right now, right? You're getting a little loud. And >> listen, listen. Leave the door open. I'm detained. I'm under arrest. I cannot leave the door open. >> Leave the door open. >> Under arrest. Leave the door open. >> My man, listen. You're going to get disorderly if you don't. We got a crime scene here. This is a crime scene. >> I understand, but I'm not doing nothing. >> All right. We're going to close the door. We're going to close the door. >> My uncle, MAN. >> NO. JOEY JOEY GOT THROW the party right now. >> I'm going get my car. I'll come RIGHT BACK. >> YOU LET ME TALK TO HIM. >> He's calming down right now. >> I can't believe HE'S MY UNCLE. LET ME TALK TO HIM. PLEASE, I'm begging you. I'm begging you. Please let me see. What's going on? There's a police officer. >> I started my career on a reservation. It was not uncommon to show up with have many people in a house, alcohol involved, and it the scenes would get chaotic like this where everybody's screaming and yelling and and you start to put cuffs on people. I mean, the whole thing can get very chaotic. >> Speak Spanish there. I know. >> So, he's going to talk to him. Okay. >> Headquarters. You don't have to do this guy any favors right now. >> All right. >> Bobby, relax. >> Come here, mother. >> Come right here, mother. >> Come here. Okay. Listen. I'm going to take you out. All right. Let's go. Let's go. Let's get out of here. All right. Let's go. >> Okay. It's fine. No, we need to bring him. We need to bring him in. >> I have the other guy in my car. So, what are you going to do? You going to stay here or? >> Oh, no. We're going to I'm going to >> You going to process her? >> Okay. Then I'm going to stay here. I'm going to wait till BCI comes. All right. And then we're also going to have to wait on that house, too. >> She said tell him to be quiet and stay >> be quiet and stay quiet. >> I'll leave the door open for you. You need anything else? The real reason Martinez fired the handgun into the air was to celebrate his grandmother's arrival in America on a 10-year visa. He had fired four rounds, and officers later found the handgun lying inside the car. It was registered to Justice, Mia's boyfriend. >> Brother, what's your name? >> Justice. >> You all right, Justice? >> Yeah. >> All right. All right. Listen, just real quick, Miranda, right? You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. Where's the handgun, man? Where's the >> No handgun? I told you it was fireworks. I told your boy from when he stopped me over there by the stairs. >> Okay. >> I told you it was fireworks. >> Why? Why is there fire uh gun gun casing next to your car? >> No gun casing. That's not mine. >> Those aren't yours? >> Nope. >> No gun at all? >> Nope. >> Does your uncle Does he have a gun or anything like that? >> That's not my uncle. >> He's not your uncle. Who is he to you though? You feel me asking? >> That's not my That's >> That's a friend or >> like a family friend? That's my girl's uncle. >> That's your Oh, that's your Okay. >> Yes. You're not you're not married to her or anything like that now, right? Okay. >> Is he part of any set, man? Like Lion Kings or anything like that or No. >> Can I talk to my uncle, please? I'll call him down. >> You want to talk to him about which one's YOUR UNCLE? >> THAT ONE. >> OH, NO. >> Please let I'll call him down. I'll call him down. I promise you. I'll call him. >> I needed you to be calm from the beginning, ma'am. >> I I am calm. >> You were the opposite. Now you're calm, but like you should have been trying to Who's Is he uncle shirt? >> Yes, he's my uncle. >> Okay, listen. We're going to bring you in. You're going to be able to talk to him at some point. I can't tell you when or or how, >> but you know, it's a serious incident. >> I know, but it's like he didn't do anything. >> Okay, then why is there Why are people And it's not just one person. Four or five other people like Yeah, it was a guy in an orange shirt >> shooting a gun off. >> He was smoking. >> Yeah. >> Okay. But what what's wrong with the four or five other people? >> What are you? >> Yeah. Usually when two or three people are you have witnesses that s tell corroborating stories. Yeah, that's going to be enough to make to bring charges. It would be better if you could find the gun, but the casings will will pro provide some good evidence for the charge. Plus, he hit her. >> She's a juvenile. >> How old are you? >> I'm 17. >> Transporting makes it worse. >> Makes it worse. Confirmed. Five. >> Five. We got five. So your your your daughter is 17, right? >> Yeah, she's 17. >> Okay. And your dad, right? >> I'm her stepfather. >> Stepdad. All right. Do one of you mind accompanying me to headquarters with her? >> Just cuz she's a juvenile. like that thing. You don't know ruining the livelihood. You don't know >> ruining your livelihood. Me >> I like you. >> You want your shoes? >> I don't try to do my hand. >> Stop. >> Don't do that. I can't breathe. Okay. For me. I can do myself. >> I can do myself. I can do by myself. >> Can we do something? >> Yeah. Yeah. You don't >> I can do by myself. I can do what happened. Were you scared? Come on. >> I'm not scared. Nothing. >> Are you scared? Are you scared? >> Okay. Give me the medicine. >> What are you scared? >> We need another unit. We can avenge this person. >> I put in my food by myself and I do. Don't worry. >> What? What I do? No, I'm not trying to do nothing bad, but >> All right, I'm going to sit here. >> You're trying to go my by yourself. I got my dad. I don't >> While all three, Mia, Martinez, and Justice were taken to the police department. Mia was released with charges pending as she was a juvenile. It's really hard to get the judges to sign off on putting a juvenile in custody. We run into that all the time. It can be a serious case, but they will they'll oftent times uh say, "Hey, you can't book them in." So, that's that's kind of normal. >> Real quick, you said you want some water, right? Yeah, please. Have you been arrested for me? >> Kenny, are you going to be okay? Is this comfortable for you, brother? >> Because he he can have you ever been arrested before? >> No. First time? Never. >> Never. I work here every day. I copy the one in the city in the in the garden. I for >> Martinez was charged with weapons offenses and aggravated assault while justice was charged with weapons offenses and obstruction. >> All right, make sure you let me know what you think of this video.
