You about to grow my >> All right, welcome back. We got another video for you. This one's a thief. Um, Target shoplifter completely lose it. Loses it after she's caught stealing $1,000 in merchandise. I don't like left lane camping. I don't like thieves. Um, so let's get into this video. See what's up. This comes from Body Cam Leaks. Body Cam Leaks, thanks for the video. >> Why do people think not having something gives them the right to steal it? >> Good afternoon. Um, we do have a subject in custody right now. She's a branded in the office. If I can I can take you over that way. >> Okay, great. >> This is the >> Is this all this stuff? >> It's all of this. Yeah, >> all of this. >> It's a total of 105359 >> 1053,000. >> Yeah, 53. That's important. >> Okay, the last one was >> Let me tell you why the amount is important because different states have different thresholds. You know, we've heard about California. If you steal under $951, they're not even going to do anything to you. But if you steal uh over $1,000 in a lot of states, that's a theft. In the state of Illinois, over $500 and merchandise is a class three felony. And this happens to be $1,000. >> 700 Hello. What's up? What's up? [Music] >> So, what do we got? >> So, pretty much all that seen so good at all and then just walk out without pain. >> Okay. All right. What's your name? >> Grace. >> Grace. All right. Grace. What's going on with all this stuff here? >> I'm really homeless. So, I tried to walk out just to at least have some [ __ ] to my name and be able to chill out and I don't know. My phone just got broke. My wallet just got stolen. I came from a situation at my boyfriend's house. I tried to go to my mom's house. She ended up having everyone come to my room and steal from me. So, I headed down to Chicago with an old friend. Me and them ended up getting into a fight. So, now I'm here. I'm trying to make ends meet. I stank. All I wanted was panties and socks to begin with this [ __ ] But yeah, I was I was going to put all that [ __ ] into suitcase and make my way. >> Okay. Do you have ID? >> No, sir. Like I said, my wallet was just stolen from me. >> Wallet was stolen. Did you report that? >> Uh with what phone? >> Don't need a phone. You could walk into a police station. >> It's a photo copy ID. I wish I wish. >> Believe it or not, people used to report crimes all the time before cell phones were invented. So, not a valid excuse. She got a ton of excuses here. I had more to my name to have my wallet be valuable, honestly. >> Okay, so it's a female um down on her luck. Had a bunch of stuff stolen from her, fighting whatever with a boyfriend. Uh they got a receipt of over $1,000 worth, but it's like a whole bunch of just like food items, uh drinks, just miscellaneous stuff that would literally be for a homeless person. Looks like a mat backpack. Uh all right. What uh you guys seen her before? >> No, okay. Um, I just called my sergeant and just wanted to make sure. Uh, do you guys are you guys okay with a local ordinance? >> Um, I would be just the fact that whenever it's a huge amount like this, they want us to press charges like the amount. >> Okay. >> 300 bucks. >> My sergeant's pushing for given the circumstances. Homeless. You guys got the stuff back. >> Uh, just given the circumstances. That's what I told him over the phone. >> Okay. >> She's cooperative, but obviously >> up to you guys. I'm just letting you know what what he's suggesting we do. >> Again, just running everything by you, letting you know what the serge says and thinks. Are you okay with that? Okay, we'll >> do that. I'll see what >> So, I don't understand if they decided they weren't going to do anything or they were going to do anything. The store has a policy, but his sergeant says, "She's homeless. Let's see if maybe we can we'll figure it out. But I mean, clearly she tried to steal over $1,000 worth of stuff. My guess is this isn't going to go great. >> She says, "Uh, got you info." Most everything was like food and like Yeah. Like >> what all were you buying today? >> Nothing, as you can see. >> I mean, it's a lot of it's a lot of things. >> Yeah, I was going in there. >> Bunch of apparel, bunch of electronics. a bunch of electronics. Let me say that real quick here because I ain't I ain't touch no mother. Y going to try to bring some [ __ ] up in my little >> Grace. Don't get loud. All right. >> No, because at the end of the day, >> don't get loud. All right. Listen to what he has to say. >> Are you trying to push authority on me? I'm not pushing authority. >> You don't try to make your voice louder than >> So, she tries to raise her voice and push authority on them. And then when they check her up, she's like, "You trying to push authority on me?" And when you try to assert dominance, you don't you're not I'm not in your dominion at all. Okay? >> I'm talking the same tone as I did when I first came in here. Okay? >> I'm literally reading off this receipt that they have. Everything is categorized. Apparel, electronics, three items, groceries, health, and beauty, home, stationery, and office supplies, and toys. Okay, that's all I'm reading to you. I'm just trying to talk to you. All right. I talked to my sergeant. >> He is more than willing to just charge with a local ordinance. >> Illinois. >> It's a local ordinance. I don't even know what y'all are talking about. >> I'll explain it to you. Okay. >> Illinois. No need to give credit. >> Local ordinance is a ticket basically in Rosemont as opposed to you being charged criminally through the courts. All right. This is a felony amount. Not trying to insert dominance. Okay. I think everybody here would agree. This is the problem with states like Illinois who don't want to uphold the law and pass local ordinances so that people who commit felonies can be given a citation and kind of go about their way um and then they'll do it again because there was no consequences to it. >> Talking to you with respect, not raising my tone. All right. suggestion is that you cooperate and continue to because you have so far Lincoln >> and again >> with the store's approval and my sergeant's approval we can just charge you given the circumstances homeless >> down on your luck we're not trying to you excuse my language if I go on those streets without some of those supplies guess what's going to happen to me on that CTA I'm going to be snatched up and left in a ditch and then you're going to be the one discovering my [ __ ] body how are you going to like that Young Grace slit open in the middle of a ditch. You don't even recognize my face because of how [ __ ] up I am. Cuz that's what happens to young girls in the middle of the night in Chicago. Tell me I'm wrong. >> All right. Do you want to talk yourself into a felony? >> Not talking myself into anything. I'm being honest. If you don't want to hear the truth and if you want to be brainwashed, >> I'm being straightforward with you. Okay. >> All right. I'm going to go out to the car, start this uh check on the DL image. Mhm. >> Uh, can we cuff her to the bench? >> Uh, and then I will be back. >> Is she right-handed or left-handed? >> Uh, am I left-handed or right-handed? >> Correct. >> I am right-handed. >> Is there any way we can put it on my left though, so I can have these to cushion the cuffs? Please. We can do it. >> Okay. We're not going to put them on that tight. Trust me. Okay. I'm going to put them on your left cuz you're right-handed. >> I'm going to go back to the car. wait for the positive ID based on the picture. Um, >> and then as long as everything's still the same and closure, same route. Okay. All right. I'll be back. >> But do you understand that I'm kind of in the corner and you're kind of standing above me? So this is a little bit of an intimidating situation. So if you step step back a little bit, that would make >> a fragility of today's society. This Oh, you're offensive. You're this is offensive to me. you you're I I just I can't with it. It's ridiculous >> between us. >> Well, actually co distance is six. >> Okay. Well, >> sorry. >> You're going to have to be in close proximity. >> I might have pneumonia and you're making me uncomfortable. >> That's opposite. >> I'm not assaulting nobody because he's coming. He's Why are you >> I haven't moved. >> Why can't you stand back there? >> Would you like me to sit back? >> Okay. All right. All right. Grace, still trying to confirm your identity. >> All right. How old are you? >> 25. >> 25. Okay. All right. So, what's going to happen is uh we're going to take you back to the station. >> We have to fingerprint you to confirm your identity. >> That's called a one roll. At least we call it a one roll. So, if you can't identify somebody, you take them to the station, you fingerprint them, and you see if they're in the system. Grace is probably in the system. My guess is this is not Grace's first time interacting with law enforcement. She's probably got some cuffs or put Prince in the system. Most people do. So, that's called a one roll. They'll go run one roll her for identity. >> All right. Are there going to be any issues when we get your fingerprints back? You're not wanted. You're a different name. What's that? >> Not counting on. >> Not counting on it. >> Like, are you positive or >> It's It's a maybe. >> All right. You guys need anything else from us right now? So, >> we just got to confirm. >> Is there Would you mind patting me down Instagram? >> As a female. >> Okay. Then y'all legally can't pat me down. >> Yeah, we can. >> No, that's not my private. >> That's not true. Legally, they can pat him down. We have to take extra precautions. We use the blade of our hand to be able to pat them down. Um, we have to use the blade underneath. It is all that's how we pat them down. But absolutely, they can pat her down. >> No, it's not. >> I'm a woman. You could touch me, grop me, and hurt me. >> There's multiple witnesses. Cameras are on. All right. Okay. >> I I just I don't necessarily feel comfortable with a grown man's hands on top of me. >> Shouldn't have stoled from the store. >> Obviously, I'm not going to do anything. It would just make me feel more comfortable if you got a female deputy on scene. >> All right. Well, we don't run now. We're going to run you back. >> Well, sir, I really don't feel comfortable in this position without a female deputy. >> You're going to have to be >> Well, so you're going to assault me. You're going to touch me without my permission. >> That's what that is. >> Legally do my job. Okay. >> You are legally going to assault me and touch me without my permission. >> Can you stand up for me? Stand up. >> Stand up. >> Stand up. >> You're going to make us make you stand up. Stand up. Stand up. >> Don't touch me. You about to grow my >> Don't you touch. [Music] >> Stop it. Stop it. >> Hey, you're touching my bow. He's trying to grab me. He's trying to grab me. >> Stop. Stop. Let me out. Let me out. Let me out. Let me out. Any [Music] injuries? >> I'm good. >> You slap me in my face with your cough, you pigs. >> Grace, are you injured at all? >> She's lucky. That's all that happened. >> Yes. >> All right, we'll call the medics. >> Your face my wrist back to bruis. >> Stop. >> He's going to adjust it. Stop moving. >> I got two grown men on top of me as a young girl. You are hurting me. Stop moving. >> You good? >> Stop. Stop moving. Calm down. Calm down. >> Calm the you down. >> You punch of >> I'm going tell you mental health is a real crisis in this country. And if we don't wake up to it as Americans, we're in big trouble. >> Calm down. Calm down. >> You got my one cuff. >> Calm down. >> That's a prank. >> I can't adjust that. >> When you calm down, >> when you calm down, I can adjust on you. I wish death calm down. I wish death. >> I can adjust it. >> All right. >> Stop. >> 301 with a 515. It's a one. I'm about to get the [ __ ] smacked out of you and out of you. You >> psych. >> Okay. Are you going to calm down? >> Are you going to calm down? You're threatening me. >> Are you going to calm down? It's a question. Are you going to calm down? >> You might. >> Are you going to calm down? We're not going to get you up until we're comfortable that you can remain calm. Okay. >> No. Just a target at 7,000. It's going to be >> in the LP. >> I refuse to speak to you. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> You heard him say in the LP office, loss prevention office. >> It's fine. >> You still got a job to do. You good? Is that from her? >> I think that's from her. >> Okay. >> You bleeding anywhere? >> Yeah. She's got a cut on her face. >> On her face? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Your eyebrow. >> All right. >> Norcon 301. Do we have medicine? >> 104. You can advise for a psych >> and a female offender bleeding from the face. >> Definitely needs a psyche val. And they're going to check her out for the face. My guess is that probably happened from the loose cuff, which I hate when somebody has a loose cuff. It can hurt a lot of people. And I think she probably smacked herself in the face with it is my best guess, but possibly from them trying to get her under control after she struck the cops. >> And just document that there was a physical altercation with this subject. This card that's my terrible grace Breathe. >> Calm down. Calm down through your nose and out your mouth. Grace, >> calm down. We'll grab them. We'll grab them. Okay. Please straight these evil men down. Lord, please please help me. Please take them. >> You got to calm down. Okay, you have to calm down. >> I got them. I got them. I got them right No. He took them. Stop. Stop. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Grace, you have to try to calm down. Okay, >> Grace, take a deep breath. >> Focus on your breathing. All right. >> I know. >> How are you today? >> I'm been a busy day. >> Sorry. You got to deal with this pettiness. >> You know, that's what we do. >> Thank you. >> Can Can we clear the door? No. >> We're going to we're going to put you on a c. You have to stand up. Okay. ask >> when we stand you up. Are you going to cooperate? >> Okay, we'll take care of it. We'll get him. >> Grace, >> we need your cooperation. Okay, >> I need a girl. Grace, we're glad to stand you up so we can feel sorry. >> Listen to us. >> So what she's screaming is, I need a girl. Look, we deal with people with severe trauma a lot. Who knows what happened to her when she was younger. Clearly, she's that's what she's fixated on right now. She's got some serious indications of mental health mental health issues here. >> Yeah. One arm at a time. >> Lift up. Lift up. Roll over. There you go. Okay. Relax for one second. Just relax for one second. Okay. Just relax. All right. Can you walk over to the cat? Oh my god. >> We're going to get him. We're going to get him. Oh, just take a seat right here. Okay. >> All right. Can you stretch out your legs for me? >> Thank you girl. >> Okay. Sit back. >> It's okay. >> Here. I'm going to borrow that leg really quick. I don't like >> Just say the back. A little bit. >> Here. Just just follow some straps for safety. >> I need a girl. >> We don't We don't have a woman paramedic available right now. Okay. >> Wait, what's your name? >> I need a girl. I need a girl. >> We don't have a female paramedic. >> Why don't you feel comfort? >> So, where did who got struck where? Uh, didn't really I I don't think I really got struck. >> She just kind of slammed me backwards. She pushed her legs down to resist the wall, but I don't think she really struck. >> She threw a punch. Whether it landed or not, it was clear that she she balled up her fist and threw it in that direction. >> Yeah. >> I'm trying to see if we need to charge this. >> Yeah. >> If anything, I'm I would think resisting at most. >> She didn't break. >> All right. The woman was arrested and charged with felony theft, resisting arrest and obstruction. >> Felony theft, resisting arrest and obstruction. Um, check, check, check. Like I explained to you in the beginning, because she stole over $500 in the state of Illinois. That's a class 3 felony, punishable by 2 years to 5 years in prison and up to a $25,000 fine. My guess is the mental health issue here. They probably took her had to take her to the hospital for a mental health evaluation. She may or may not have ended up in jail. This just happened in July, so I doubt there's any any adjudication on this case. My guess is she probably hasn't even shown back up to court for her next appearance. Probably had an initial appearance if she did go to jail and that's about it. So, we'll see what happens. being homeless. This is the type of case that ends up resulting in a warrant for her arrest because they don't know where she's at. She doesn't have a home. So, eventually they'll ID her, they'll charge her. She may end up with a a warrant for her arrest. And the next time they have contact with her, they'll probably take her into custody. My guess is she probably had outstanding warrants. It's probably very likely because she didn't want to give her whether Grace was her name or not. Um my guess is she's probably didn't want to give her full name Do because uh there was probably some warrants out there maybe even for theft. Who knows? In the end, we'll find out what happens. Um but this is the kind of stuff we deal with thieves and then we have to deal with the mental health issue on top of it and just people completely losing it and um ultimately the cops sometimes get labeled as the bad guys when we're just there to to make sure that the laws of the land are enforced and that people don't go around hurting or stealing from people and victimizing other people. So let me know what you think of this video, whether she deserved it and whether she deserves to go to jail for the two to five years. uh for her theft here today at the Walmart. Uh but as always, thank you to Body Cam Leak for the video and make sure you like, subscribe, comment on this video, and I'll catch you on the next one.
