I'll be honest. >> You got your ID on you, man? >> Yeah, that's >> Okay, when they say, "Do you got your license on you?" "Oh, man, I don't got it on me." Guess what that means. Suspended license, you're right. Uh or revoked. And in this particular case, uh he's got his ID, though. So >> All right, perfect. >> You can get that for me? >> No, that's what I was talking about. I don't have it. >> Oh, you don't even have that on you? >> Yeah, but I actually just bought the car, so >> Do you have the title? >> That's what I'm waiting on IN THE MAIL. >> YOU GOT TO YOU GOT TO CUT ME SOME SLACK, DUDE. YOU JUST doing some lifting and stuff? >> DoorDash, yeah. >> All right. I'm just going to verify who you are, man. You You practicing any open carry CPL? >> Uh no, sir. >> What's that? >> No, sir. >> All right. Where you headed right now? >> DoorDash, you know, for >> Do me a favor, man. We're just going to verify your >> Somebody ain't getting their coffee. Uh one of you watching this video this morning is not going to get your coffee. DoorDash isn't going to make it. >> your vehicle and you really fast. Cool? You can just put your phone up here for me. That's That's just fine, man. You got the vehicle off? >> Uh no, sir. >> All right, just keep both hands on the wheel for me. Step on out towards me. You're good. Come on out. >> Let's step out of the car. >> Come on out. >> Wait, what am I doing? >> You got no license. >> See, this is why it's difficult when you say put your hands on the steering wheel, but then come on out. Um he's now confused cuz he wants to put his hands on the steering wheel cuz that was the first command they gave him. Now they He's like, "What am I doing here?" >> I got to identify you, dog. >> I got to identify you. >> I'm going to rock with that. >> All right, come on. Come on. >> Can I show you a uh bank card or anything? >> Come on. I'm going to find you in my computer in 2 seconds. >> We got you. >> I just got to talk to you in my car. You're not going in cuffs. >> Yeah, I know, but my thing is I didn't >> Listen, you ain't got no plate. You ain't got no ID. I'm about to rip you out this car if you don't cooperate. >> Yeah, I know, but what I'm asking >> Keep both hands on the wheel for me. >> Can I ask you a >> Keep both hands on the wheel for me now. >> But no aggression. Can I ask one thing? >> There is aggression right now because right now it's my safety. Put both hands on the wheel. >> All right, can I ask one thing though? >> Now come out. Come out. >> Bro, nice play. >> This car you're going to go for resisting. >> That's what I was about to ask. >> I feel like this is going to go uh get And by the way, I was just going to look at the the subtitles. I think they got it wrong cuz I'm pretty sure he says "That's what I was about to ask." And they put "That's what I was about to ask." I think they got it wrong. >> I don't resisting. >> Come on out. >> I'm actually what >> Come on out. >> Listen. >> Hey, why are you making this so difficult? >> Come out. This is no big deal. >> Yeah, I know, but this is against my rights. >> No, it's not. You have no license. You're now you're under arrest, okay? >> What I'm asking >> Now come on out. >> Yeah, before resisting. >> Now come out before I pull you out. Come on out before I pull you out. Come on out before I pull you out. I don't want to do that. >> Yeah, I know, but I'm asking a question right now. >> What did you say? Send me another unit. Put your foot down on the ground. Put your foot down on the ground. Put your foot down on the ground. You're not listening. >> Yeah, but I'm >> Right now you're technically resisting arrest. So that's two That's two That's two arrests. >> Look at me. >> We're giving you a lawful order. >> Dude, why you >> This is no big deal. Come out. >> No more asking. Rip him out of the vehicle. Rip him out of the vehicle cuz he's surely not he's not he's not compliant. >> We have so many other things to do. >> Snatch him by the back of that collar and rip him out of the vehicle. >> Right now you can go to jail right now. You can go to jail right now. >> That's all I'm asking >> Come on out. >> Help me help you. >> Yeah, there we go. >> You ripped me out of the car. This is not me resisting though. >> Yes, it is. >> I'm not resisting. He only >> Yeah, you are resisting. >> I'm The safest way to avoid all of that can I just get out of the car? >> Get out of the car. >> That's all I'm asking. >> Step out of the car now. >> I want >> Step out. Step out right now. Step out right now. >> He pulled my hood my hood off. >> Step it out right now. You're going to get tazed. >> He pulled my hood off. >> No. Step out of the car right now. >> Yank him out. Just rip him out. >> Take this hand for me. Move. >> All right, you're breaking my wrist. That's all I'm saying. You're breaking my wrist. >> Get out. >> He won't let me That's all I'm asking. Help my car. >> Get out right now. >> That's all I'm asking, man. >> [screaming] >> That's what happens. Gosh dang it. See, that's why you got to get them out of the car. And they could I mean they were doing a good job, but they needed like you you ask, you tell, you make. That's it. Three opportunities. This went on too long and it it allowed him to formulate a plan IN HIS BRAIN. >> I GOT ONE TAKING OFF. HE HIT ME WITH HIS CAR. >> YEAH. Get him. >> You okay? >> Yeah, he got my foot. >> He's not going westbound 8 Mile. >> These tires look like it needed some air in the back, too. >> From Ryan. >> Yeah, he got my foot pretty good. >> You're all over your foot? >> Okay, so Warren Detroit. So they're talking about two different jurisdictions. >> About 8 Mile. >> 8 Mile, that's M&M That's M&M territory. >> [snorts] >> He's going to be making that turn around. >> Wrong way in traffic. >> Stand by. Go. He's out. He's going to go south on Mitchell and South. >> Smart not to go into traffic, but now you lost him, so you don't know. >> Contact in Detroit. >> They have him? >> Yep. >> Yep. >> Oh, they got lucky. >> Continuing westbound >> on the >> I give you a street address on What street is this? >> We're going south on McKay. >> South on McKay. >> Southbound McKay from 1 Drive. >> It's amazing how these pieces of junk, we call them res rockets, I started my career on the res, and some of these pieces of junk cars, they would they would they they would perform outperform our vehicles. Um part of it is driving like you don't care, and you don't And then also, these vehicles have more capability than you think. >> Westbound Remington. >> Westbound Remington from McKay. >> Get him. >> Two blocks from here on Remington and >> Looks like we're going to be going north. >> They're catching, they're making some ground. They're making some ground up. >> Looks like he's coming back up 8 Mile. Never mind. He's going to be making a West sand turn on Pierson. Yeah. >> Here we go. >> Remington May I have the car back? There it is. All right, he went through the parking lot. We're going to be going back east on Pointer. >> They're doing a good job of calling it out. One of the big things on police is you've got to know where you're at. You got to know which directions, you got to know north, south, east, west. You got to know your streets. We used to have to memorize the map book and we would have to know which quadrants of the map they were in. We'd have to know it all. Nowadays, you know, they got these computers, which I never really did use the computer map. It just was not that functional. He's going to bail. >> What he slow down for? Go ahead mark that spot dispatch. He might have thrown something out while he was running that corner. Running 10 and >> He threw something out. Oh, come on. >> East Remington >> I don't think these guys Oh, see his back tire. I told you that back tire was flat already. He's lost It's completely flat. >> South of Remington The unit just passed two. The unit just passed us on Outer Drive. All right, we're coming up to going to go back north on Fenkell. >> Oh, see he can't control it. That's why he slowed down on that turn. I don't know that he was ditching anything. I think it's That's when he completely lost the tire. >> You okay? Your foot's >> No, I'm I'm I'm good. >> He's going to struggle to make any turn at this point. >> 10-18 or secondary. Is that going to be a helicopter involved? >> Pit him right here. >> And why is he honking like that? What street is this? All right, we're going to be switching back southbound to get your street here in a second. >> So, did he say that he's honking? He's honking his car. >> [laughter] >> What's okay? >> Yeah, I'm good. >> You got my finger man out. >> Did he get you? >> Sticking on that cuff just to get him to come out. >> So, by the way, the guy has cuff on one hand in this car. So, >> I don't know if I told you he slipped. >> Missed. That wasn't a great um deployment of the spike strip, but in all fairness, the guy probably was just getting set up when that happened. >> We're going to be going uh westbound. >> Oh, this where you just The car's struggling. >> We're going to be uh going westbound, State Fair. >> I don't think these guys probably pursue very often. The nature of the The nature of the crime has probably allowed them to pursue where this agency probably has no pursuit policy. So, I'm guessing they have to know they don't do pit, either. >> Continuing State Fair, we're going to be passing through Cardonia. Yeah. He got my foot. He got your finger, too. >> Yeah. >> Through Hawthorne. Coming up to Chrysler. >> Initially, you don't know the pain, and then as you start the pain starts He's not going to make it. Bump him all. >> Speed's 25. >> What's your finger? >> Hurts, but I'm good. >> Yeah, now when the pain the pain starts to >> Continuing north on Chrysler. >> So, what they're going to try to do here is this guy's getting out in front of him. He's going to try to slow down, box him in. Let's see if they can do it. Nope. Bumping, bumping, bumping. >> [screaming] >> This car is struggling now. His little red rocket is struggling. Southbound Russell. Yeah, he's going to turn Southbound Russell. Looks like he's going to be possibly stopping. Bust his windows. He already took off once, man. >> [screaming] >> Taser. >> [screaming] >> The hell's wrong with you, man? >> What are you doing? >> Turn on your back. Turn on your back. Hey. >> I don't know. >> Turn on your back. >> What a dummy. What an idiot. >> Sit on the ground. >> All right, we're going to stand up together. You ready? Two, three. >> It's it's amazing to me how quickly we can transition from high energy, adrenaline pumping, chasing you, you tried to rip our finger the guy's finger off and run the other guy over, and now we go to hey man, you can you stand up? Listen to the tone in their voice. They immediately the the decency and humanity kicks right back in. >> That would have been so simple. Dummy, dude. >> So simple. >> Lumpkin and >> He ran over his foot, so FAPO Fleena Lude suspect >> So he's got an ankle monitor, which means he's not allowed probably he can't have police contact. He certainly can't run from the cops. Probably not supposed to be driving, certainly not a car with no license plate. Please send this dude to prison. That's the only way these folks learn. >> we got to figure out who he is first. >> Yeah, I'm good. >> What street was it on? >> Little guy. >> Remington Lumpkin. They got 61 going there right now. I think they got a K9 going, too. >> You okay? >> I'm good. >> I don't think this is him. >> He just gave us >> He just gave us his name. >> Okay. >> All right, boss. Obviously, you got tased, all right? You got a couple instances. You got any other injuries you want to talk about? Anything? Nothing? Okay. >> He's uh got a brain injury. I suffering from uh severe case of stupidity. >> What are you on What are you on tether for? >> It's like a 30-day zone. It's only a 30-day tether. Used to stay >> See, look, he thinks it's all funny. He's got a 30-day tether. That's it. >> away from a certain spot. >> So, it's against like a a female or something or protected person. >> Uh a relative. Not a female, but a male person. >> Okay. Huh? >> Are you good? >> Come on, man. I'm going to fork out. >> I know you are. >> According to court records, this suspect, Romero, was charged with felony 3rd degree fleeing a police officer and two counts of felony assault on a >> Okay, so felony assault on a police officer, fleeing We got some lucky Charms here. Rub the challenge coin. Hopefully we get some good charge good good conviction here. Let's go. >> he took a plea deal [music] pleading guilty to all three charges in exchange for the sentence of $1,534 in fines, 1 year in jail, and 3 years of probation. Now, police said >> Pretty weak. For running over a cop, um for fleeing police, for putting everybody at risk, 1 year in jail, not enough. Not enough. And then some stupid fine of $1,400 should be like a $20,000, $30,000 fine. And then um 3 years probation, which this guy clearly is probably not going to be able to uh comply with. >> Hey, when Romero took off, the rear tire ran over the officer's foot. Now, the dash cam doesn't clearly show that, so I'm not going to tell you it does. Now, the officer said he felt immediate pain. And whatever happened right there, he's lucky his whole foot didn't end up underneath that tire. And I got to say, I like seeing those spike strip launchers because if you can get those spikes out there without putting an officer next to a fleeing car, I'm all for it. Now, >> I did not see that. It's a spike strip launcher. And I agree with John, Officer John, that wherever we can save our deputies and our cops from putting themselves at risk, um I got to be honest with you that I wasn't super impressed with the launcher. Uh and it's just a new tool, so maybe it'll take some time to get some used to it and but yeah, wasn't super impressed with it. >> Police asked this guy to get out of the car at least seven times. Now, when I was on the job, this was always in the back of my mind. The more time you give somebody who's already decided they're not going to cooperate, that's more time you're giving them to figure out their next move. Me, I'm >> Exactly. We talk about this all the time. Me, I'm asking once or twice. I'm like John. Ask, tell, make. >> I'm asking once, maybe twice. After that, if I have the legal authority, I'm getting you out. I'll explain it later in the paperwork. But, Romero wasn't done. Court records show he picked up more felony charges while he was in custody. And remember that smile earlier? You know, sometimes people think everything's a game right up until reality smacks you in the face. >> Good job, man. Look, these officers did a good job. Um clearly they do two-man units here, probably because they run into stuff like this in Detroit. Uh They had every right to stop this guy. Everything they did was good. They were avoided being seriously injured even though this guy took off. Uh man, good stuff. Good stuff. Appreciate that the work they did. All right, let's read some of the comments. Uh let's see. Doing DoorDash deliveries with no plate is an impressive level of stupidity. I'm surprised he was even able to do it. Typically, I think they ask for all your vehicle information, your license information. But yeah, stupidity was not is definitely a problem for this guy. Imagine watching the DoorDash app waiting for your coffee and you just see your driver going all around town at 100 miles per >> [laughter] >> I've never done DoorDash, but that would be funny. The spike strip launcher has to be the most Looney Tune [ __ ] I've ever seen. LMAO. Yeah, I wasn't super impressed with the launcher. Uh I just know that spike strap our spike trap salesman is laughing his butt off all the way to the bank. Yeah, I don't know if he's going to be selling any more of those things, to be honest with you. Even he couldn't believe his own BS. He busted out laughing. I'm not resisting, the mantra of every person that's ever resisted, right? Uh that was real bad. McConover Ford. The let's see. SBH Jackson 5931 says, "The only people who didn't know he was going to drive away were these two cops." [laughter] Oh, you could feel man. You could just feel it. Yep. He was That's why he didn't want to get out of the car. He was weighing out his options and waited for the right time. The spike strip launcher was brought to you by Acme. >> [laughter] >> That's a good one. Acme, if you don't know, that was commonly what we saw whenever they were doing uh whenever the Road Runner was running from the coyote the coyote was trying to catch Road Runner he would use things from Acme. Um this pill blue dot 23455 says you could just see that I'm about to do something crazy look in his eyes. Yes, you could. "I'm not resisting." the man said with an audible strain as he pulled against the officers. Some people insist on playing life on hard mode when they can't even finish the tutorial. Yeah, it's always the dumb stupid people that decide to make life even harder than it already is. So, this is a perfect example. And last one, imagine ordering a coffee and watching the driver location on a map. Yes. Yeah, this is uh thankfully the good guys won. They caught him. He is going to go to jail for a year. Big deal. Should have went to prison for three to five minimum for something like this. You're never going to learn, but I'm I'm actually kind of surprised that Detroit even held him accountable. And guess what? He had more felonies after that. So, let me know what you think. How did they do? What do you think his punishment should be? Comment, like, subscribe, and we'll catch you on the next video.
