No problem. Are you doing a story or something? I'm busy and Right, and I'm asking a question back. What kind of question is I don't know, but my name I've never seen your channel. Okay. I I know you have. You You know who we are? So, it's not necessarily turning them in or arresting them or anything like that, but take them in. A camera appears and instantly ignites chaos in the Boise Police parking lot. I'm asking you why. That's not what you asked. You said, "What are you doing?" Okay, so now I'm learning process or process for everybody, right? Okay. Yeah, absolutely. Just a few seconds of filming was enough to send the entire police unit into alert mode. From the very first moment an officer stepped out and suddenly made a [music] statement that left the entire community questioning what exactly are they trying to hide? Yeah, man. If I don't have to, I don't want to. I I don't I really don't want to be disturbed. I just want to continue what I'm doing. All because of a single camera, the entire atmosphere shifted instantly. And then one simple question made the officers lose their composure in a way no one expected. Okay. You're filming our building, so hold on, please. Well, hold on. This is public parking lot. Hold on what? I'm asking you what you're doing, okay? So, when I pulled up here, you're filming around the corner. Okay. Um can you tell me what you're doing? Well, you just said it. I'm filming. I'm asking you why. That's not what you asked. You said, "What are you doing?" Okay, so now I'm asking you why. >> on something. Okay, what are you working on? I mean, why does it matter? I don't understand. You're filming all around our building, so I'm just asking you a simple question. And I asked one back. Why does it matter? I understand you're asking a question. I get that part, but why does it matter? >> pulled up and you saw a police officer, you ran off. Oh, is that what I did? Or was I just moving to take another shot? >> I don't know. Can you Are you a mind reader or I'm not playing this game. >> I know. I know. But you're dismissed. >> So, what's that? You're dismissed. Oh, thank you. Thank you so much. No problem. Are you doing a story or something? I'm busy and I don't feel like I need to answer. I don't understand what it matters. >> Okay. This is not open to the public back here. Where does it say that? Well, yeah. Yeah, bye-bye. Mhm. I know. Bye-bye. You're good. What's your name badge number, by the way? Oh, Officer Lincoln 870. Okay. What about you, sir? Name and badge number? Officer Logsdon 952. Thanks. See you later, guys. You too. You too. Learn Learn a little bit about the law. >> Did I violate anything on you? >> Well, you're you're not allowed back here. This isn't open to the public. It It is. Clearly open to the public. It would be marked if Have a good day, okay? >> Under the under under 708 18708 I'm just speaking with you. Why is it an argument? >> An absurd accusation was thrown out, and if you look closely, this might be the moment that exposes a clear lack of understanding of the law right in the heart of Boise. pretty healthy. I don't know. Okay, I'm not a medical person, so do you need any police help? No, I I I You're at a police station. >> When I do When I do, I I'll Yeah, take care. Find Jesus, please. What's that? I said, "Find Jesus, please." Oh, thanks. Lying's not okay. Would you submit to a search of your bike? I mean, just be cool to see what's in there. I'm sure everybody wonders. So, what Ask me what questions you got. What's in here? All my personal things. Oh, that's just personal effects. What's that battery? >> printer A what? printer Oh, so you can print off whatever tickets or whatever. flags, jackets, teddy bears for kids. Any other questions? >> No, man. Just curiosity. Have a good day. All right, you too. Well, it looks like the old school big baton and most people would carry the little clicker baton. That one's a big old It would It's probably harder to carry, you know what I mean? Most people have a smaller one where you would press the button and it pops out or whatever, but he has a baton. That's pretty cool. The sergeant's next question gave viewers a slight shock because it revealed a strange sense of confusion coming from law enforcement. What's your name, bud? Uh what's your name? Sergeant Rush. Awesome. Yeah. Do you know where you're at? Do you know where you're at, sir? Yeah, I do. That's why I'm asking if you know where you're at. Cool. Yeah, do you have any official business being here today? What kind of question is that? It's just a pretty simple question to ask what you're doing here. Right, and I'm asking a question back. What kind of question is that? So, how long do you plan on staying here today? Uh I don't know. No idea? Okay. So, you're not going to tell me your name or anything, right? I mean, do I have to? I I don't know too much about how it works, but I I mean, I don't want to if I don't have to. Okay, yeah. I'm asking for your name. You asked for my name. I gave my name. I knew it would be reasonable for you to give me yours. Yeah, man. If I don't have to, I don't want to. I I don't I really don't want to be disturbed. I just want to continue what I'm doing. Right. Well, I'm not disturbing you anyway. I'm talking to you. Okay. So, I mean, you can continue to do what you're doing, but it's concerning to us. >> Well, it it is disturbing me. It's stopping me from what I'm doing here. Okay. Well, you can continue to do what you're doing. I'm not keeping you from doing anything. Um but one thing it is, too. I mean, there's a safety issue for us here when you're filming our cameras, filming officers going in and out of the building and such, right? Okay. Okay. So, just hang tight and uh we'll talk about a few things and how What do you plan on doing uh for the rest of the day? And then came the biggest twist. The officer accused him of something so ridiculous anyone would laugh, yet it opened the door to a far more serious issue underneath. I would think you'd be at work like working. You sat over there for a long time watching me. Am I cute or what? weirdo Have a good day. Clown boy, man. Makes no sense. God damn. Pretty good shot of it. I'll move, okay, bud. Yeah, do your thing. Do not touch the vehicle, though. What? >> You don't touch the vehicles. Okay? Why is that? >> You don't tamper with motor vehicles. That's not tampering with a vehicle. Oh, this is This is crazy. What's that? I said, "This is crazy." I can I can touch the vehicle all day. No, you can't. What law is it, sir? You can't tamper with motor vehicles. No, tampering is vandalizing or ruining or destroying. Touching is not tampering. What a [ __ ] Oh. I'm going to touch all the vehicles. How about that? I'm going to go touch this one. What an idiot. Saying you can't touch the vehicle cuz it's tampering. What I mean, what a simple dummy. Citizens may sue public officials for violating their constitutional rights pursuant to 42 US Code SS 1983. Individual {slash} organizations are required to pay damages to the injured party. Violating police officers may be disciplined, have their licenses suspended, fired, or expelled depending on the policy of the agency {slash} police chief. There was no arrest, but the video reveals potential abuse of authority and a clear lack of legal understanding by the officers. Up next, the moment we raised the camera, a staff member stepped out and made a statement that instantly tightened the atmosphere like a stretched wire. for here. I'm sorry. They're They're saying that's not even allowed on the video on property. What's not allowed? Taking pictures of this location. Oh, sure it is. Here it is. Public property. It may be public, but they're saying you can't do it. Who's saying that? Everybody in this building. Well, they're incorrect. If there was no video or photography >> either apply or we can call the cops and have you took it up. >> Well, I don't want you to call the police for no reason, but if you think about it, if there's no video or photography allowed on the property, why are there no signs? You have very explicit signs about what's allowed and what's not allowed. I know. I'm >> And I'm not trying to give you a hard time, but video photography is definitely allowed on public property. I can guarantee it. I'm just doing what they're asking me to do. >> No, no. I appreciate you. Yeah, yeah. No, I can tell you got a smile on your face. You're being cool. I got you. No worries. Um but just let them know that I that's not the case. Okay. All right. All right. All right. I'm sorry, guys. Have a good day. >> All right, thank you. And what was your name? Thomas. Thomas Jason. Nice to meet you, Thomas. All right, thank you. So, that was Thomas, and he was sent out to don't shoot the messenger. I didn't want to give him too hard of a time because he seems like he's being cool. He just wants to uh do his job, I guess. So, we'll see. Um Arizona Department of Health Services State Laboratory is located at 250 North 17th Avenue. Business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. No public access after hours, and weapons are prohibited inside the building. The vague warning about regulations had barely ended when the entire situation shifted instantly. The hurried footsteps inside signaled that something much bigger was about to unfold. Not willing to give up my rights because some security guard was sent out here to try to scare me off. Didn't work. So, I don't know if maybe one of the higher-ups is going to come out and try to have that conversation with us, or they're probably just going to call the police, I would imagine, right? I don't know. So, let's go check out the rest of the building. And you know what, guys? I always say, when these guys call the cops on us, it is a double-edged sword because, you know, nobody wants to have the cops called on them. Who wants that, right? Um but I the other flip side of that is I welcome the cops being called because A, I know we're not doing anything wrong and B, it gives us an opportunity to have the conversation with them that we that we want to have and that that's the point of our mission here. So Always like to also take a moment to recognize Old Glory waving in the breeze as she should. It's a gentle breeze today here in Phoenix. And let me give you a look at the sign that they have out here. I'm going to predict that I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that Thomas went back inside and they called the police. So we're definitely going to stick around for a while here. Don't go away. Phone calls started being made and this marked the opening moment of a confrontation between civil rights and the confusion of public officials. Good. I like this guy better. He waved to me on the way in. My bad. How are you? No, you're all good, man. >> for someone else. I didn't know they were talking about you. Oh, I got you. Okay, right on. So you're what? You're just going to go inside and let them know we're okay to be here? Yeah, yeah, we're going to talk to you. Okay. You mind if I ask you guys name and badge number just so I know who I spoke with? Officer Hernandez, 10698. Thank you, sir. I appreciate that. Sergeant Bunn, 7318. Thank you, Sergeant Bunn. Appreciate you. And definitely appreciate your professionalism and cordial demeanor. Thank you. Means a lot. All right, guys. You guys are good? I got to tell you you know it's wonderful to come across a couple of officers. We have We've had a wonderful experience here in Phoenix so far. First time we've ever been here. And since you guys have been so cordial and professional you might even know who we are already. I don't know. But my name Okay. You you know who we are? There you go. Is that why you waved to us? You knew it was us, yeah. I would have waved to anybody. I got you. No, you you seem like that kind of guy. So my name is Jason and this is my son Ben. I don't know if you guys are aware of it. But it doesn't always go this way and we appreciate it. So you know exactly what we're doing. Okay, very good. And you know what? I always have like a little bit of concern in the back of my mind when you know what we're doing cuz then I say to myself what if you didn't know what we were doing? Would you have handled it the same way? You know, so that's Yeah, I think it's a learning progress or process for everybody, right? Okay, yeah, absolutely. Go through life and you figure these things out. Yeah, you guys are good. People get concerned and we go, hey, all right, this is what's happening. So don't worry about it. You'll have a couple of questions. You either answer them or you don't. I mean And you know what? That's fantastic that you do that because I always like to say in my videos that the powers that be law enforcement or public employees, supervisors, that kind of thing have a lot of influence over how the general public reacts to things. For example, a lot of times we'll be at a post office and I'm just going to get out of the sun here. I'm going to come on this side. So a lot of times we'll be at a post office and customers are going in and out. Nobody's saying a word to us. Cordial. Maybe even somebody says, "What are you guys doing?" Cordial conversation. As soon as an employee comes out and intentionally yells, "Hey, you guys can't be filming." Sets the whole thing off and everybody gets upset. So When the patrol cars rushed into the area, everything turned dramatic. But what happened right after will definitely surprise you. Police officer No, no, I know you are. And but what's a good police officer's worst enemy in this world? A bad cop. Right? So bad cops aren't doing me any favors. They're not doing you any favors. They're not doing these folks any favors. So all we ask you to do is wield the power you've been given professionally, with courtesy and lawfully and honoring your oath and you two gentlemen have done that today and you're a fine example for the Phoenix Police Department. We thank you for that. For whatever that's worth. No, thank you. No, we appreciate you. We rely on you guys. We need you to you know you guys are in a very unique position to keep the bad guys in check. So you know, we ask you to do that and I know you don't want to ruin anybody's life. You might have gone to high school with some of these guys. You might know them for a long time in life. So it's not necessarily turning them in or arresting them or anything like that. But take them into the locker room and have a conversation and get it to stop. You know what I mean? Especially being a sergeant and you might have done that previously. I don't know. I'm sure you have. But uh we I can't thank you enough. You made this a wonderful experience and you you've made Phoenix look fantastic. I don't know if you guys are shaking hands. You're doing that these days are you? Fist bump? That'll work for me. Thank you, sir. Appreciate you. You have a wonderful day and on a human level for real, guys, stay safe. We appreciate you. All righty. Well, all right, guys. Um hopefully Thomas here learned something today. Uh and actually I'm not going to blame Thomas. Like I said before, he's just following directives, following orders, which is a whole 'nother conversation in itself, how smart that is. Maybe Thomas learned a little something today. Um maybe his employers learned a little something today. Um and uh his supervisors or whoever. And hopefully this visit helps out with that and maybe prevent somebody from getting hemmed up down the road. I don't know. Uh but these two cops were fantastic. Uh state police officers knew exactly what was going on, knew exactly what they were doing. Um and uh upheld what's right and did the right thing and I thank them for that. Can't thank them enough. The conversation that seemed tense suddenly shifted in a completely unexpected way and its ending will keep you watching until the very last second. On April 12th, 2020, taxi driver Maissaelem was working and had temporarily parked in a no stopping zone in front of a Walmart store while waiting to pick up a passenger from the pharmacy. A store employee asked him to leave leading to a minor argument between the two. The incident quickly caught the attention of Deputy Sheriff Sloth of the Lucas County Sheriff's Department who happened to be present at the scene and decided to intervene. Howdy, sir. How are you, sir? What are we doing? Oh, nothing. I was He come here and start insulting me. >> Okay, do you have a driver's license, sir? >> I do. But he come here to You have a driver's license, sir? He called me over here because you're not you're parking in a no parking zone. Can you produce your driver's license, sir? I I will, but you need to send me the receipt. >> ahead and step out of the car. Go ahead and step out of the car. Get out of the car. Now. 293 Lucas start me at Sylvania Township unit. Step out of the car. When approaching Saelem, the officer immediately demanded that he present his driver's license. However, when Saelem asked for a reason for this request, the officer became tense >> [music] >> and threatened to turn the conversation into an official traffic stop if he did not comply. Although Saelem stated that he was willing to provide his documents, the officer remained impatient. I'm going to tase you if you don't get out of the car. Out of the car. Hands up against the Don't come off. Stop resisting. Turn around. Turn. Put your arms on the top of the car. Stop resisting. Stop resisting. Get out of the car. Start me. Despite there being no signs of resistance [music] from Saelem, Deputy Sheriff Sloth decided to take aggressive action. He suddenly opened the car door and used force to pull Saelem out. While the driver was complying with the officer's orders, Sloth drew his taser and fired at Saelem. However, due to his thick jacket, the probes failed to penetrate and take effect. What are you yelling for, Holly? Use the radio. Sit. You're going to jail now. I ain't complying. I got him. Get him out of the way. Get him out of the way. Not stopping there, the officer proceeded to use the drive stun mode, a method of applying the taser directly to the body to inflict pain and subdue a suspect. Under this intense force Saelem had no opportunity to resist. He was then handcuffed and placed in a patrol car without receiving a clear explanation for his arrest. I don't know. I just got here. I don't know. Township's on scene. Roll me a medic. Uh code two is fine. Where's your ID at? It's in the car if you want to go get it. We put him in one of your cars, guys? First of all, resisting arrest. Yes, you did. Have a seat. Right at the end of my shift. Following the incident Deputy Sheriff Sloth reported that Saelem had verbally assaulted the Walmart employee with racist language and had threatened to physically harm them. He also claimed that Saelem had refused to cooperate failed to provide identification and resisted arrest. However, video footage from the scene [music] told a completely different story. He started calling him all sorts of racial slurs, called him a [ __ ] redneck. Got out of the car, said he's going to whoop his ass. Jesus. So, now we got menacing. Menacing, resisting. And now we got resisting. My apologies. Yes, ma'am. Let me go get a bag for that. >> That would be literally What's up, homie? Well, he was parked in a no parking zone and one of the managers asked him to move. So, he threatened the manager, told me he was going to kick his ass. And then he started to resist arrest. So, I had to tase him. But the barbs didn't go through his jacket.
