I So I was >> I saw I saw him >> and I ran the plate. Saw he was attached and suspended. So I waited. I thought she saw him walk out get in his car. I was like, "Okay, that's Daryl." So I followed the car, stopped it, made contact, it's Daryl, so you >> know me. >> I didn't lose my >> I tried to ask him. You officer wasn't wear either. I can go back to the police with you guys or whatever, but you don't do anything. You just go back and write your paper. I just need to see you. No problem. Sounds like he's settled on. Hey everyone, it's Trent, prior deputy sheriff, patrol sergeant, and K9 handler. Likely the main topic of conversation pertaining to this vehicle pullover is going to be the mental health aspect because the suspect clearly states that he has bipolar disorder and suffers from schizophrenia. Now, I will say during my time in law enforcement, I interacted with a lot of people that made such claims and they ended up not having any mental health issues whatsoever. They were just trying to get out of whatever current situation they were in. I'm not stating this suspect is not being truthful. I'm just saying sometimes when you're on the street and you're interacting with people in these very brief scenarios like a traffic stop, it's very hard to sit there and really determine if somebody is going to have these mental health issues. Sometimes you can and they're very apparent. Sometimes it's a little more challenging. And us in law enforcement, we're not trained doctors, psychiatrists or psychologists. We cannot offer a proper diagnosis while standing there and talking to someone. But I will say this suspect does appear to know the difference from right and wrong. This officer stated he had been arrested for something similar a couple weeks back. It didn't really seem problematic until the officer was asking the suspect to exit his vehicle and then it became an issue. But I will say to this officer's credit, he did appear to try to accommodate this suspect. He even offered him a ride to his next location. He officer even though he didn't have to reclo the driver's side door and allowed the suspect to open it on his own, but it still wasn't good enough. And at the end of the day, you still need to do your job as a cop and people still need to abide by the law. And this is not a call for service where you can plan something out possibly with mental health professionals to to accompany you to a call where you know somebody is going to have mental health issues. This is a traffic stop and you're just going to be interacting with somebody in that very brief time period like I had stated. And every county is different. Not every county has the adequate resources to have mental health care professionals accompanying law enforcement to everything that they go to. It's not practical and a lot of them do not have those programs set up. Some of them do. For example, the area that I worked, we did not have that whatsoever. We just had to use our best judgment and try to accommodate people that did have various issues when it was appropriate and safe to do so. But like I said at the people still need to abide by the law and you still need to be able to do your job as a cop. And that's going to be it for this one. See you guys in the next one. >> He received citations for driving with a suspended license and resisting a peace officer. [Music] C 17, he's not stopping. We're in front of 808 Ridge. Going to turn his turn signal on now and try to park it there. Car registers to there. He's pulling into 808 ridge. He continued from Blackhawk all the way to Ridge to pull in here. He'll be available. Return 1600. [Applause] Hey, I I was coming to come right here. Y'all, why y'all studying with me, bro? I ain't doing I ain't doing nothing, bro. >> Keeping with me, man. >> Hey, man. You got your driver's license on you? >> Hey, you Christopher. >> Hey. Hey, ma. >> Buddy, we can figure it out in a second. You Christopher? >> Hey, Mom. >> My man. >> Damn, man. Why y'all keep with me, bro? >> Is it Christopher? Am I correct? >> I want to know what what is you even pulling p trying to pull me over for. I ain't did nothing wrong. >> Okay, step over here. >> Know where? >> Okay, step over here. I'm telling you right now. >> Right here. That's fine. Get your driver's license. >> I want y'all to get y'all a sergeant out here. That's fine. We can do that. >> Get your driver's license or insurance. >> Go get the lieutenant, bro. >> Where's your driver's license at? >> Go get the lieutenant, bro. >> Driver's license or insurance. Either one. >> Go get the lieutenant. Go get your lieutenant, please. >> We don't have lieutenants. >> Go get your serge. Okay. You are you were pulled over for a track violation being one being at the intersection over there. Ridge and Rushmore. You turn on your turn signal. Not in time. >> Yes, I did. You just seen that the whole time. My other suspicion. That's why you just My other suspic is that you're Christopher Williams and you don't have a driver's license. >> That don't you see you with me? That's your suspicion. You with me? >> Stop over here. I'm I'm going to place you in hand. I'm not going nowhere. I'm not going nowhere. I got no flips. >> I ain't got you. >> Y'all keeping with me, >> ma'am. Please keeping with me, man. Where is your ID with me? Get your SGE. >> I >> give me your SG. >> Okay. Is this Christopher? >> Give me your SGE. Give me your SGE. Give me your SEG. >> Okay. The car is getting towed. So, you can either give us the key or you can't. >> Give me your >> If you don't, you're going to get arrested, too. >> Give me your >> It doesn't matter. If he doesn't have a license, give me your >> Give me your driving. He also drove three blocks without >> to come here. You know what you you trying to y'all with me? >> You ID on you. >> I ain't You have an ID on you. >> Let's go. He pull over. I have an idea. >> The whole time. The whole time I come out my turn signal on. >> I put my turning signal on. Soon as I turn, soon as I did, you saw that, bro. >> I saw you as soon as you saw that. You saw that. So you know I ain't did nothing wrong or nothing. >> If you don't have your license, my wallet, >> what is your name? >> Hi. >> Come on, man. Talk to him. >> Man, he know who the I am. He know who I am. >> He know who I am. I don't want to I want to talk to your son. I don't want to talk. Talk to your side. Turn around for me. >> I'm not talking, bro. >> Turn around for me. >> I'm not doing I'm not doing nothing. I'm not resisting. >> Turn around. >> None of that, bro. >> I'm giving you a lawful order. You're going to get arrested for obstructing. Turn around. >> Just listen. >> All right. We'll do it. Turn around. >> Yes. >> I'll talk to you in a second. Okay, man. >> Damn. >> Put your hand on your back. >> I ain't do this. >> Put your hand back. >> Nothing. Put your hand in my mouth. >> Okay. Put it in your mouth. It's going to go out of your mouth in two seconds. All right. Let's go to my car, man. You can smoke it. I got to search you in a second. You got anything in your pockets? >> I don't have nothing, bro. I just came out the house, man. Get some cigarettes, man. >> You shouldn't be driving. We talked about this, bro. >> Oh, y'all. >> Separate your feet for me, man. >> Can you separate your feet for me? Thank you. Do you have anything on you that you want her to take or anything like that? You want the house keys with you, Christopher? Do you want your house keys? You want her to >> What? Huh? >> You want her to have them or you want them? >> Give them to her. >> Okay. You want the cigarettes? >> This crazy, bro. I swear on my mama grade. I ain't even did they they literally, bro. Literally. >> All right. Take us to that car. >> Literally, bro. And you know it, man. You know it. >> Suspended license. >> You know it, bro. I swear to God, bro. Y'all study harassing me, man. >> Y'all keep harassing me, man. Y'all study harassing me, bro. for real. >> Okay. 16 1095. I'll also be charging the instructing. I'll be out shortly. Figure out the car situation, but I'll take next bill. He wants you to take his keys. Do you have anything out of the car that you need right now? It's going to have to be towed. I'll tell you why. Let me talk to you for a second. >> Okay. Reason it's been towed is cuz he's driving multiple blocks. >> Obviously, you know he's suspended, correct? >> No, I don't know anything. >> You don't know anything? >> No. >> Why are you Why are you letting him drive your car? >> Because I didn't know that anything was wrong with him, not being >> But you know, at the same time, I mean, we've I think he just went through something like this, didn't he? Not too long ago. >> Not with me, not with my car. >> Okay. But he's driven I know he's driven your car before. I believe >> he's never got pulled over in my car. >> Never been pulled over in it. But >> no, nothing. >> Okay. Well, now you know obviously not to let him use it. >> Okay. Whatever stuff you need out of here, if it's kids stuff or whatever, I do need the car key >> cuz the tow company's going to have to move it. Okay. If you got house keys on the car key ring, then you can give them that. You can take those. But >> may I have the car key, please? >> 11. >> I'm give it to her. Do you need the house keys off there? They're off. Is that all you're going to need so I can help you get to the house? >> Can you take a TX? >> Anything else? >> Not going to do you want to take care of the car >> or harness? Either one. >> So you going to take the car, bro? And she got to go to work. >> Correct. >> Huh? >> Can't be driving on a suspended license. We we talked about it. >> Okay. Let's go around the back. We'll go the door there to the left. >> I think you say what? >> You already asked for one. >> Wait, I'm waiting on them. >> We got to take care of this part before we can do that. You got to take the string. I >> know. I know my rights, bro. >> Okay. You can take it out or we're going to take it out for you. You take your option. You take it out. It's your tough. Take it out. >> That's the way this works. >> Take it out. >> Okay. Troy, you want help me? We'll take out the string. >> Tough. Tired of his out. I'm tired of him. >> That's how we do this. >> It's him. I'm tired of him. You a bro. >> Okay. Take out. Bro, you a straight. Take out the string, please. >> Swear to God, boy. My a straight. You a for real. You a please. >> You a straight. >> Take out the straight. >> My mama. You a >> Would you like a >> You a And I Man, you was a bro. You know that. >> You know that. >> You a scissors. >> I'll cut them out for you. >> No, you just have no respect. You have no respect. >> You broke the law. I arrested. >> All right. You got to go into cell four over here. >> I don't want I got >> No, >> we're going to put you in cell four. >> That's where I go. That's where they put me. I can see I don't want I I'm feeling behind the >> I I'm I'm literally I swear to God I got Brian Collins. I've got eyes put them in. That's fine. I don't care. >> All right. So, this might not be the case here, but based on my experience, traditionally when people don't stop right away in these sorts of circumstances, whether they know they have a suspended driver's license or they have a warrant for their arrest where they think in their mind when they're getting pulled over that there is a possibility they could go to jail, they want to avoid having their vehicle towed. And this guy probably wanted to avoid that because the vehicle didn't belong to him. So, if they are relatively close to their final destination, they will just completely ignore the cop trying to pull them over and will drive all the way there to try to park it. However, usually that doesn't do anybody any good because as we see it gets towed anyway. And I've said this before, but apparently I'm just going to say it in every video because I keep watching suspects that continuously ask for a sergeant, a lieutenant, or a supervisor. Look, cops do not have to oblige anybody when they are demanding to see a supervisor. Also, if you have to get a supervisor to the scene, especially a lieutenant, it's not going to be good for anybody. And more often than not, it's going to make the situation worse for the suspect because they don't want to have to waste their time. especially for something this trivial because driving on a suspended driver's license isn't that big of a deal in the grander scheme of things in comparison to a lot of the more egregious crimes out there. But if this suspect would have just cooperated, would have stopped screaming and just provided his information because this officer still needs to technically verify that, then he probably would have just been given a citation and not taken to jail. And that's going to be it for this one. See you guys in the next one. He was cited for driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured vehicle, and for obstructing a peace officer. [Music]
