from Waco police officers fatally shooting a homeowner's dog after being sent to the wrong address to Idaho Falls officers unlawfully breaking into a home while chasing a parole violator here are five times stupid cops showed up at the wrong crime scene starting with a tragic mistake that left a family heartbroken wake up police department easy for dog back here easy puppy these are officers from the Waco Police Department on June 3rd 2023 officers responded to a 911 call about a burglary while entering the address into the system the computer AED dispatch sad system autocorrected the location sending officers to the wrong house on the 3,200 block of North 20th Street excluding the correct adjacent a street upon arriving at the house 17 minutes after the call officers found the back door open matching the description they had been given however they were unexpectedly approached by multiple dogs Hey Day Co back door is open back door like cracked open is there a way to get just walk sorry but hey did you say you shout on the radio no hey 2150s um we need a supervisor here I shot a dog a dog named Finn lunged at an officer and was tased and shot by him the homeowner a veterinary technician expressed strong outrage at the officer's decision to shoot her dog she firmly refuted claims of Finn's aggression insisting that the dog was simply being protective the supervisor arrived on the scene nearly 30 minutes after the initial call and took steps to help ensure the dog's survival we get here caught out in the back door and like six dogs ran out us and I shot one of them like in the back some call notes this is our original call and then they correct it to 28 yeah the dog well as far as I know the dog's alive it was in house I go one side the other he sees open back door we go to the back door kind of pie around he knocks me yeah the owner's here the owner's here she brought the dog in the house six dogs charge out the back I had just switched a taser when I heard the dog I wind up popping one with a taser and he winds up pop him with the pistol we still had his here yeah she I just got off the phone she said you can take it to emergency clinic real quick yeah yeah got you I can't see in there I'm going that side wake up police department dog back here the homeowner transported Finn to an emergency clinic but sadly the dog did not survive the family has retained a lawyer and filed a federal lawsuit seeking $200,000 in Damages for negligence and emotional distress the original burglary at the correct address was resolved once the error was identified with no injuries or arrests reported in connection to the initial call Waco Police issued an apology attributing the mistake to the cad systems autocorrect algorithms to prevent similar errors in the future dispatchers have been directed to double check addresses for streets with adjacent a streets if you think these were the only officers to respond to the wrong crime scene just wait until you hear search warrant after Miss Graham hesitated to open the door expressing concern for her children's presence the officers Justified their entry by citing exigent circumstances and Mr Jericho's arrest warrant however both Supreme Court and n9th circuit case law emphasized that a search warrant is required to enter a third party's home unless valid exigent circumstances exist which were unlikely to
