You think he's still in Boca he's living? >> Yeah, yeah. He lives like 10-15 minutes he he was over here the other day we were watching uh he's a Bronco fan. We watched the Broncos play the Raiders. >> All right. Did they win? >> They did beat us but uh we played them tough. >> Uh-huh. >> He was worried. >> Nice uh collection you got here. >> Oh, thank you. >> All right. That conclude for now. Mr. Farley? >> How's it going? >> Good. Detective Diaz. >> Sorry. >> I'm Detective Diaz with the Sheriff's Office. >> Pleasure to meet you. >> We're here to talk I'm here to talk to you. >> Of course. >> I have my partner with me. >> Hey, how you doing Detective Diaz? >> Good to meet you. >> Good to meet you. He asks for a lawyer instead. >> Now, it's going to be you or >> Yeah. >> Here's the rain comes. Appreciate it. >> Is that Thanksgiving stuff preparation? >> Yes. I'm uh yeah. >> Your own version. >> I'm headed out to um Northern Florida tomorrow. >> Okay. >> Have a celebration with a couple of people at an apartment. >> Oh, nice. >> [bell] >> I'll just set it on the threshold. >> Thank you. Thank you. All right. >> So, how may I help you? >> Uh I don't want to talk to you first of all I want to make sure I have the right person. All righty. For the For the record, what was your full name? >> Elias Farley. >> All right. Thank you, sir. I'm going to start cuz you you have rights. So, I'm going to let you know your rights before I talk to you. And then I want to get your side of the story on on the on this how your name came up. >> Are you sure you don't want to meet outside? I don't want to let any neighbors and everything to be all over >> Yeah, I don't want your neighbors. >> Sure thing. >> I'll set them down. >> Let Let me just get the cat in there please. He's keep biting. >> Uh-huh. >> Uh-huh. >> Hello. Are you David? >> Yes. >> David, how are you? I'm Detective Diaz with the Sheriff's Office. I I need to speak with you and then um is your roommate home, too? >> I think so. >> Yeah, okay. >> Five days later, December 1st. The man opening this door teaches at the same school as Farley and shares the apartment with him. And the warrant in the detective's hand is for the bedroom across the hall from his own. >> Um he can come to the door and then I can I can get to get something to him then I want to talk to you. >> Um I I I don't want um anyone in my apartment. >> Okay, but I have a search warrant to come in. >> You have a warrant? >> Yeah. >> Can I see that? >> Yeah. If you can bring uh David, you can bring him in. >> I'm David. >> I mean you can bring your roommate, Elias. >> Can I can I see the warrant? >> Yeah, yeah, absolutely. I just wanted to present it at one time cuz it's presented to both of you. >> Okay, I understand. >> How you doing, sir? Detective Diaz. I have a warrant to come in. >> Understood. Here's the warrant. >> All right, I understand. So, I shut it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know your attorney's been trying to get a hold of me. I just uh sent him an email. I'm going to after I'm done here, I'm going to call him. >> Understood. >> Well, I do look. I'll ask you if you can step outside and then I should be pretty quick. >> Okay, may I get socks and shoes on or something? >> I don't want you to go in the room. >> Understood. All right. >> I I don't know if your roommate told you anything that's going on. >> No, I'm a little confused. >> Okay, what's your name? >> My name is David. >> Okay, yeah. So, you also work at the school with Elias. >> Yes. >> Okay, and you're aware that he's suspended. >> I understand that he's on administrative leave. >> Okay. >> Paid administrative leave. >> Okay, administrative, okay. So, I wanted to talk to you about a couple things. Can you raise your right hand? Can you swear to tell me the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth? >> Yes. >> Okay, relax. So, do you live here full-time? Do you live somewhere else sometimes? >> I live here full-time. I spend some nights at my girlfriend's place, but I'm here maybe 6 days a week. >> Okay, so do you have specific days that you go to your girlfriend's house? >> No, not not specific. >> Do you have like a phone that you'll remember what days you were there and what days you weren't home? >> Days? >> Yeah, if I gave you a specific dates, would you be able to tell me? >> go through my phone and see like what days I took pictures with her and therefore what not. >> I mean, I'm just going to go over it. It's two dates and I want to know if you were home. >> Okay. >> The first one would be November 2nd. It was a Sunday. It was in the morning hours between about between 10:00 and 1:00 p.m. Do you kind of let him know when you go when you're going out where he would know you weren't going to be home? >> I always >> He knew you weren't going to be home. >> He knew I wasn't going to be home. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, so November 1st last thing I have I was at my parents' house. November 2nd the first thing I have is around 5:00 p.m. is that I was here. >> Okay. Coming home. Can you I mean, can you jog your memory before that after your parents if you went to your girlfriend's? >> I think I think I did go to my girlfriend's but >> Would you have text pictures or messages saying, "Hey, I'm going to be home later." You said you don't always communicate with him. >> Yeah. >> But somehow he knew you weren't going to be home. >> I I I let him know when I'm like like the day of it if I'm going to say I'm going to be I'm going to be out. So I was at my parents' place. >> So you sent that on what day? >> On November 1st I said I was spending the night at my parents' place. >> Into the 2nd. >> Okay. I appreciate you. >> So the morning of the 2nd >> You were not here. >> Okay. Okay. The next one would be the 8th into the 9th. That's a Saturday into a Sunday, the following weekend. And that would have been a whole night thing. So you would have been gone on the 8th. >> So the 8th I went to the mall with my girlfriend and I'm pretty sure we spent the night because on the 9th I'm with her early morning. So yeah, I I almost certainly spent the night there. >> Okay. I appreciate you. >> 8th into the 9th. >> I appreciate you clarifying that stuff. Couple other questions. Do you know who his girlfriend is or who he's talking to? >> I know her first name. I don't think they're on a girlfriend boyfriend basis yet. >> Okay. >> As far as I know they're just talking. >> Has she been over here? >> Not to my Not to my knowledge. >> I mean, have you seen her? >> Never. >> Do you know where she goes to school? >> No, I don't know where she goes to school. I don't have anything about it. >> Okay. All right, so what we're going to do um there's something he's suspended from school so I'm investigating some of the stuff that has to do with that. >> My school told me that he was being investigated. I didn't know it was I thought it was investigating by the school. I didn't know it >> Yeah. Yeah, I came here um the day before Thanksgiving on the Wednesday. Um but he requested an attorney, which is actually his right. Um so, that's why I had to go and and get this and do the little extra stuff. I don't uh believe um I would have to go in your room. The warrant does cover your room, but it be anything that he asked you to hold in your >> room? No. >> If I don't find certain things in his room, then I am going to look in your room. I appreciate that, but I if he already gave you an an object or something to put in your room. >> Nothing. No, nothing. >> And do you go in each other's rooms? >> I've been in his room maybe once to help him set up his bed. He's rarely in my room. Last time he was in my room was two or three nights ago when Well, maybe a little bit longer longer ago than that. Cuz my girlfriend's out for um out of town for Thanksgiving. We went to her place, her parents' place where they live in Central Florida. So, we had asked um Elias if he could watch over my girlfriend's pet bunny. And so, we brought the bunny in and the bunny stayed in my room and he was in and out of my room to check up on the bunny and make sure that he was okay. >> Unusual conversations you've ever had with him about anything? Like uh when it comes to like women? Like any like weird like >> I like this kind of woman, that kind of woman, or I did this to a woman, I did that to a woman. >> of weird fetishes or anything like that, you know? >> No, no. >> Okay. I'm just asking you know, it's guy talk sometimes. >> it's I understand it's an uncomfortable question. Elias is about the furthest personality type from that type of person to talk about women like that. >> Okay. >> So. >> All right. Thank you. >> Yeah, we don't we don't we definitely don't want to get >> You need to grab any thing? Are you you're good to step outside the room? >> Oh, I need to go outside? >> Yeah. All right. >> Can I have my phone on me? >> Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Okay. You can step out. Let me talk to her real quick. Hello. >> Hi. >> Um so, what I I'll need is um the picture of course the entrance, uh pictures of the living room, and the pictures of this room. I don't think I'll need the other room, but I'll let you know if I do afterwards. So, I'll need pictures, and then I'm going to search through some items, and then uh take a photograph if I find something. I'm going to take a picture of it, and then I can keep it for evidence. >> the Weems? >> Yes, Detective Diaz, D I E Z. All right, sir. I uh I'm done. I I took your sheets um and uh some condom stuff. I left you my notification on the the counter of what I took. >> Okay. >> Your copy's there, and then um I'll call your attorney, and then uh if you guys want if you want to talk and meet me in my office tomorrow, that'd be great, but >> Hey, they they gave me some stuff to pass off to you. >> Okay. >> Um just phone numbers and stuff. >> thought I had his phone number, but I think you got a different one. All right. >> Yeah. >> All right. Thank you. I'll set. Thank you. >> Driver, start in the car. Do not move. Occupant of the right rear passenger, stay in the vehicle. Do not move. If the car is going to shut off and lock you in here, then >> It's a different day, different unit. Between the search warrant and this moment, detectives pulled the school's surveillance archive and matched it against the student's account. >> Occupant of the right rear passenger, roll all the windows down. With both of your hands, grab the top of your shirt and pull it up until I tell you to stop. >> All right, listen to me now. Take one step to your left. Just don't reach for anything. Step back to the sound of my voice. Keep coming. Keep coming. Keep coming. Keep coming. Keep coming. Keep coming. Stop. Take two steps to your right. Is there anybody else in the car? >> Nope. Yeah, he's he says it's empty. He said he said 15. Anybody else in the vehicle exit the vehicle now. Hey Caleb, lock your truck. It shouldn't be locked. Farley is in custody now. The detective has come back to ask his roommate one more question and the answer is about something Farley asked him to do in the days after the suspension before any of this was public. Hello David, how are you sir? Detective Diaz again. You have a minute? Are you sleeping already? No, I was sleeping. Oh. So, couple did you end up finding out who the person was that your roommate was involved with? I have suspicions. I'm not sure exactly. Okay, who is the suspicion of? The suspicion is not important. Okay, I appreciate that. So, the question the reason the main reason that I came here is because I want to see did you give anything to her that your roommate told you to give to her? Yeah. Okay, I appreciate that. When was that? When was it given to them? Would have been Monday last week. Monday last week? Yeah. What was it? What what object did you give them? There was a couple of books, Dungeons and Dragons books. Because Elias used to used to be the sponsor of the D&D club of which Noma was the like organizer of. So. >> Okay. So that's where they like are they thick books or small books? >> Two two relatively thick books almost like textbook >> Okay. >> thickness. >> Did you happen to go through them? >> No. >> Did he say anything what was in there when he asked you to do it? >> What was in there? >> Yeah. >> What do you mean? >> Did he say what was in the book other than what's supposed to be in the book? >> Through my knowledge >> Yeah. Did you look through the pages? >> No. >> Did you do anything else for him? >> With the books you >> Did you hide anything for him? >> No. >> Everything you told me is true and correct? >> I had suspicions that there was something about the books. I promise I didn't look through the books. I felt that it was a bit odd that he asked me to return them. He left them on the on the bar right here and said could you return these to I'm not sure. Thought it was a bit odd but >> Okay. >> Yeah. Can I can I ask questions? >> You can. >> Was there something found in these books that >> There was some stuff. There was some stuff, yeah. >> Okay. Does this >> Yeah, there's camera footage at certain places. So I No, I appreciate you being honest with me and I hope I you're being honest with me. >> Of course I am. I just >> You know, I just want to to honestly, you know, make sure that you're not working with him to try to disturb an investigation. >> I understand why you would think that. My my only thing now is that I'm worried that I might have inadvertently assisted him in doing something horrible. >> Is this the same thing we're talking about or something else? >> Yes, this this is what I'm talking about. As much as possible I want to be as far away from this as possible. And now that my suspicions about that are somewhat valid as I'm understanding it. >> Did you think that when he asked you to get it? >> I thought it was odd. I certainly wouldn't have jumped to oh no, I shouldn't do this. >> But at that time when you were bringing the books, did at that time you know that that was the person in question? >> That was the person in question? >> In question that I was coming here to do a search warrant. >> No, I mean, I understood like after seeing the What's it called? After seeing the charges on the warrant and what he was asking me to do. Because he'd had these books for a long time and I thought that it was odd that after all of this time he wanted to have them returned now. >> Mhm. >> But I was like, there's no way. >> Yeah. >> There's no way. >> All right. Well, I appreciate it. You know, um just be careful what what you're asked to do in the future. Cuz they don't know if it's going to continue or not once he gets out, if he gets out on bond. >> Are you going to tell me what the progress on that is like? >> How he gets out? >> Like well, if if it looks like he's going to. >> Well, it looks like he has $500,000 bond. So, um how you do it is you get a bail bondsman, you pay 20% and so you can get out for 50,000. But, you know, your family could put up the money or different things, different ways. There's a good chance he'll get out. Mhm. All right. Well, I'll let you get some sleep. Thank you for your time. If you anything you think of where you start thinking like hey, I'm missing one time, please give me a call. Um and if during the move, if you happen to find any of his objects that would have been in your room, um that he put in your room, you can give me a call. I didn't search your room that day. There was a couple other items I was looking for. Um ultimately, I didn't go >> items you were looking for that weren't >> Yeah, that weren't in found in his room. I found what I wanted, but there was a couple other items. Um and so if you find items in your room that don't belong to you, I would appreciate a phone call. >> I would be more than willing to >> I don't I don't want to. I appreciate that. >> even make you present a warrant. I would let you in my room right now. >> I I really appreciate that. So, if you're just going through drawers and you happen to find some object that you know is not yours, give me a call. >> Definitely. >> All right. Thank you very much. >> Have a good night. >> All right. You, too. Um so, I just want to talk to you a little bit. I only want to know what you remember. Um you don't make anything up. Don't think that you need to give me an answer on anything. Only what you remember. First, um so, if you can raise your right hand. Can you swear to tell me the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth? >> Yes. >> Okay. Relax your hand. So, what grade do you teach here? >> I teach kindergarten to third grade and seventh and eighth grade. >> Okay. So, a couple different grades. >> Mhm. >> The woman across the table is the art teacher. On Friday, November 14th, the 17-year-old was volunteering in her classroom after school. And what she said in that room is the reason every scene you watched so far happened. So, my understanding is you were the one that some of you got the window, or somebody told you something was going on possibly? >> Mhm. >> Tell me about that. >> So, I've been having a student a senior um in my classroom helping volunteering in my classroom helping with students and work that I need to get done. They've been a very helpful part in my classroom. This was since a month ago they started. I get well acquainted with my students. I have a I'm personable, um appropriate, and they were bringing up a conversation that wasn't so appropriate. So, I tried to lead it in a different direction, and they still pressed forward with that kind of information. They started talking about >> when I know you're you're talking and you're but go ahead and say what it was. Was it sexual? Was it >> Yes. So, they started >> Whatever it was. >> Yes. So, they started with talking about online dating and how it's like a disconnect from the world. Like how it's different meeting somebody in person than someone online. And I was like, this is conversation's too much. Then they were starting to go into um sexual um things that they've done and things like that. And then they proceeded to tell me that Should I say the quote verbatim how they said it? >> it. >> They said, um, "You know I'm a teacher here and I was in disbelief when they told me that because this is not even Um, it was a student and it was, um, their real name is They go by right now and this is a student I don't have them as a student and I was just kind of appalled by the information told by me especially No, they're talking to me. >> Okay. >> I always have my door propped open the circulation in the ceramics room. I need all that dust not to get into our lungs and stuff. So my door is always open and it was just us two in there and my class had left we were cleaning up and then this is when the conversation um, started and then I was in disbelief and was just saying like are you I hope you're joking like this is like really serious and they said, "Do you want to see who it is?" So I hand my computer to them types the name in the directory for the staff and zoomed in and showed me the teacher. >> Like by pointing by >> Yes, pointing to it and then also proceeded to show me, um, they scrolled down the directory to show the roommate that they have cuz apparently this person the student goes like after school or on the weekend to the house. >> I said any some details? >> Uh, many of details and then also once they told me that that they were having a sexual relationship with a teacher they then proceeded to lift up their shirts and showed me a bunch of bruises and bite marks also lifted up the sleeve of their arm where there were bruises. I don't know if it came from the teacher but they're claiming it was. >> Okay, I appreciate that. Um, okay. And then did you give any counseling or did you just direct them to somebody or did you just report it to >> I just reported it. I just sent an email to you and then that was >> Did and did the HR? >> Mhm. Cuz I didn't want to hold that information. It was Friday. I needed like to let somebody know. I can't just hold this on the weekend and like not say anything. >> This was last Friday, would it be? >> Mhm. >> Okay, so a week ago is it when they they disclosed to you disclosed to you that it was a teacher and then showed bite marks on the stomach and then arms and bruising >> Mhm. >> and claimed to be from >> Yes. >> the same person. >> Yes. >> Other details that you remember that Shawn provided to you that this has gone on for years, months, days, or anything like that? >> I was not provided that information, but the only thing I was told like it it was never on campus. They always She said it would be outside of campus, whether it was at his home. >> Okay. >> And that's all the information I have based on >> if she didn't or she did provide several times or or one time or >> Just the one time. >> That's about all you recall. Okay, I appreciate that. All right. And then you let the authorities know and did I guess so with assistant other principal, you did some DCF hotline. >> Mhm. >> You notified them. >> Mhm. >> Okay, great. Thank you for doing that. All right. >> Elias Gordon Farley was booked into the Palm Beach County Main Detention Center in the first days of December 2025 on two second-degree felonies, unlawful sexual activity with a minor and an offense against a student by an authority figure. A Florida charge that exists specifically because a teacher's position of trust is treated as its own kind of leverage. At his first appearance on December 5th, a judge set his total bond at $500,000 and attached conditions to any release. House arrest with electronic monitoring and no contact with students or minors of any kind. Farley posted it. He was out within days and on On December 8th, he entered a plea of not guilty. No prior arrest or criminal history has been reported, and as of the most recent available reporting, he is not been convicted of anything. The case is open, and he is presumed innocent. What is already settled is everything around him. He is no longer employed at Donna Klein Jewish Academy. The school confirmed that in writing while the investigation was still running, saying it was cooperating fully with law enforcement and calling the situation a difficult time for its community. That community is roughly 760 students on a shared campus west of Boca Raton, and it spent the last month of the year reading its own name in national coverage. And then there's the family Nobody Film. The student was 17, a senior in the middle of college applications. Her parents were told by the school and by child welfare investigators, not by her. She finished her final year of high school as a protected witness in an open felony prosecution. Her name capped out of every public filing. Her account repeated back to her by a detective, by administrators, and eventually by attorneys. What that year was supposed to be certainly was not that. Here's the part worth sitting with. Every adult acted the moment they were told. The teacher reported it within the hour. The school suspended him within 48 hours and called the state. Detectives built the case in under 3 weeks. None of that is really the hard part. The hard part is who in that building was ever positioned to know in the first place. The roommate lived with him and didn't know. The art teacher taught down the corridor and didn't know. The principal signed his contract and clearly didn't know. The only person who knew was 17 years old, and she had to decide alone which adult in the building was safe to tell. So, what would it actually take for a school to make that one decision easier for the next one? Put your answer below, and I'm going to read them. And this one isn't finished. The day the Palm Beach County docket moves on Elias Farley, you're going to get it here with paperwork on screen. Stay subscribed so you're not the last one to find out how it ends.
