Holy [ __ ] You killed someone? You killed someone last night? I actually would stop. Jesus. GET OUT OF THE CAR. WHAT? GET OUT OF THE CAR RIGHT NOW. >> I HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING. YOU SEE THAT NAME? YEAH. I am your Messiah, and and believe that. I will sue the [ __ ] out of you. Sovereign citizen encounters rarely go as planned because their delusions lead to irrational decisions. And when they cross those lines that should never be crossed, they become the craziest sovereign citizens the cops have ever encountered. You do not need to talk to her, period. Step down. Know your place. You work for us. I mean Do not touch me. On the 14th of August, 2025, the cops noticed a Tesla driving on the road without license plates. They conducted a routine traffic stop and found a woman behind the wheel and her young daughter in the backseat. Why do you not have a license plate on the back of the Tesla? This This is a brand new car. I just purchased it. I have a Where's the temporary tag? It should be on the back. There's nothing there. So, I don't know maybe you lost it while you were driving. Do you have any weapons in the car? Best insurance, we're going to need that, too, and your license. I don't need to give you guys anything. What's your issue? Why are you being like that? I just stopped you because you don't have the license plate. You said that it should be there, right? And I told you that it's not. So, then where is it? Ma'am, I don't know. Okay. So, then that's why I'm asking you, okay? And then in order for me to move forward, I will need the information cuz obviously I can't get anything off of a tag that's not there. Do you not have a license? Why don't I have a license? Do you not have a license? Where is it? >> need to give you my license. You don't? >> I do not. All right. So, she's refusing to give any sort of information. Um does she plan to give you her name? What is your name? I'm not contracting with you. What is my name? Of course. Okay, good. I'm not contracting with the state. I'm contracting with you, whatsoever. I'll give my name solely for the purpose of >> Okay. Okay, what? Tell me your name. From the very first moments of the conversation, it was clear it was not going to be an easy stop. The driver kept giving excuses and was refusing to give any information. A second officer tried to intervene in the matter, but it didn't seem to help. >> Um we have to be able to identify you because you're lawfully being stopped. Lawfully being stopped under what grounds? You have no tag on your vehicle. >> Right, as I just mentioned before. Sorry? Huh? Why are you guys surrounding my vehicle right now? Now I feel threatened. You're being lawfully stopped with probable cause of having no tag. >> What crime is that? You have no You're not understanding. You have no tag. That is a crime. Yes, it is. Yes, it is. Okay, what are you looking at? It's on the phone. She's talking to you, so then talk to her. If I was going to talk to you, you should have done that earlier. >> and all of my stuff in my trunk. >> Ma'am, do you have a form of ID for us to identify you? It's in my trunk. So, can you open the trunk so we can get your ID? >> I I can open the trunk and get my ID. >> No, we cannot allow you to get out and go in the trunk. Well, I'm not allowing you to go in in in the >> Okay, so can you give us your name? >> I just I just gave you my First name, last name, date of birth. We're going to need more information than what you were telling us, okay? Candace, we can't just go based off of Candace. So, either you allow for us to get documents out of your trunk or you give us the information verbally. Those are your only two options at this time. The driver, Candace Conroy, reluctantly gave her first and last name, hoping that would be enough. But the cops were getting tired of it, having to argue with the woman for every bit of information, and decided to take the necessary steps forward. All right. We're going to go ahead and [ __ ] water. You're going to what? Okay. All right. Is the car off? N- Excuse me, what are you about to do? >> Is the car off, ma'am? >> about to do? We're going to remove you and the passenger out of the vehicle due to you not wanting to cooperate with us and provide us the information that we're asking for you to give us. I am not agreeing to you. Excuse me, what are you doing? What are you doing? Do not touch me. Alani, please. Alani, I'm forcing This is crazy. I do not agree to this at all. I do not agree to this. Ma'am, because you're not identifying yourself. I just gave you my freaking name. What the hell are you talking about? Yes, I did. Do not touch me. What's the What's wrong with y'all? What are you doing? No. Do not touch my daughter. Your daughter is cooperating. We don't have to do anything. You're not cooperating. Are you kidding me? After being extracted from the vehicle, Candace tried to get her daughter to call a man named Chris as if he could be of any help to her. By that point, the cops were fed up with her attitude. Alani, call Chris, please. If they're going to do telephone communication between the two, we're not going to allow that to happen. You do not need to talk to her, period. Step down. Know your place. You work for us. I mean Do not touch me. Let me Sir, can you please get this woman off of me? I'm going to have to put her in the car because she's not I'm going to have to put her in the car. >> Sir, please get her off of me. Because she's trying to do Sir, please stop with her daughter to do stuff. Do you have anything on you? Do you have anything on you? Do you have anything on So, you're being arrested for You're being arrested for resisting? I'm not resisting anything. >> You're resisting cuz you did not identify >> not resisting anything. That is not Sir. Yes, it Sir, please. >> I understand that you don't recognize the local laws in the state of We have a different police You did not refuse anything. I told them where it was. I told them that I would get it. And you're not allowed to get in. I told you I would get it for you, and you still >> aren't providing your name and identification, if you aren't >> I gave them my name. I'm not resisting anything. At one point, her daughter told the cops that she had to get to school. That being said, they gave Candace a choice to help resolve the matter in the best way possible. But instead of doing what they said, she kept up with her nonsense. Ma'am, do you Do you want me to Your daughter needs to get to school, okay? So, do you want me to release her to school? Do you want me to escort her to school? How do you want me to get her over there? I'm trying to help you here. Sir, can you please get this woman out of my face? I'm not moving. Ma'am, let's just focus on your daughter. Can you please call Chris? Yeah. Is he not answering? Ma'am, I need to get her to school. I need to I need to get her to school. >> I I separated you because you're trying to do stuff through your daughter, which you're not allowed. How are you going to get to your daughter? Who are you my maker? Okay, so I'm going to make a choice for you in a second, ma'am. Go ahead and get in. I don't really think she should be teaching Okay, we're going to walk you up and just see you in. I'll take her. Once the supervisor got there, she got into a lengthy discussion with her, and once again, she tried to enforce her imaginary rules. But after shutting the woman down every step of the way, the cop finished up by explaining her charges. So, I'm being arrested as well? Yes, ma'am. You're being arrested. You're going to be charged with resisting without violence, and you're going to be issued a citation for driving a vehicle with no tag displayed. And I think it's a $114 ticket. So, um the officer is going to do that. The vehicle is going to be towed. >> going to allow them to arrest me for for purposes? Are you kidding me? Yeah, I'm sorry. That's That's what the officer That That's what they have the ability to do, and they're within the right They're within the law to be able to do that, okay? Just because? Just because? You have no Nothing else better to do? Okay. You don't understand what's You don't understand what liability that you are. So, we're going to go ahead and get going because the the sooner the longer we keep you here, the longer This is something that you'll probably be be able to get through processed and be out uh within a reasonable amount of time or within 6 to 8 hours. So, the sooner we get you down and get you processed, the sooner you can get out. So, I'm not going to hold you here any longer. I'm going to let the officers go ahead and and finish up here so we can get you down and get you processed, okay? All right. As the tow truck arrived to remove her vehicle, the man she asked her daughter to call, Chris, arrived as well. It was Chris's intention to drive the vehicle away for her, but while the car was registered, it didn't have a license plate. When he was warned he'd get a ticket, Chris spouted out the same old speech they'd already heard from Candace. What law? Point to me what law that says So So So It's foreign commerce. We need a driver. >> Look, let me explain. I know exactly the law. So, if you get in the vehicle and you pull away we will see you. We're going to pull you over. That's fine. And then And then you're going to have a lawsuit. Then you're going to lose your job. You're going to lose your job. You're going to lose your job. I'm not worried about losing my job. You guys have not provided a law. You know what? Let's just I'm not going to give up. You guys have not provided a law cuz we we were First and foremost, somebody took the tag off. So, or it blew off. So, it's not like it's a stolen vehicle. So, all she had to do was tell us that the that the tag flew off, the tag, you know, got lost. She wouldn't give She wouldn't tell us about the tag. She wouldn't give us the VIN. She wouldn't give us the registration. She wouldn't give us the insurance. She wouldn't give us her name. She wouldn't do none of that. So, at that point if I'm stopping you because there's no tag, because that is a Florida state statute A statute is not a law. Okay. Yeah, yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. So, this is what we're going to do. I thought you drove another car here. >> No, no, no, absolutely not. Okay, so this is what we're going to The cops decided to turn a blind eye and let Chris take the car after they left. They warned him, though, that if he got pulled over, he was still going to get a ticket. As for Candace, they arrested the woman for resisting without violence and was given tickets for not having a license plate, not carrying a license, no proof of insurance, and driving on a suspended license. Some sovereign citizens remove tags from their car on purpose, while others replace them with fake ones instead. Our next suspect took things further and put a tag on the vehicle with the word exempt in the back window. On the 8th of December 2025, the cops pulled him over. Can you roll your window down? Thank you so much. So, the reason I pulled you over is your plates. I'm not able to get them to come back or anything. May I take it so I can see it? Is that okay? Okay. Can I see the paper you were trying to let me see? Is that okay? I don't I don't know. What's What's with the car? Okay. What's going on with the car? Okay. Okay. Okay. I didn't I didn't ask you to get out of the car though, right? I'm sorry. I haven't met you before, so I don't know what your what you Okay. Okay. Okay. Am I able to see that? I Thank you so much. The man wasn't lying as he'd been doing this sovereign citizen nonsense for years. But as for this officer, she'd never met the man before. She then proceeded as subtly as possible to extract as much information as she could from the man without escalating things further. Is your name Leon? I just want to make sure I've got the right It's the highlight. Okay. Okay. Okay. Do you live in Colorado cuz I see it all says Colorado. Okay. Do you have any type of identification or name or anything? Okay. It's okay. I appreciate that very much. Thank you. You've been very cordial so far. Okay. Do you have insurance on the car at all or no? Like car insurance, sorry. That's what I meant. Okay. Okay. May I have that? Okay. Okay, thank you so much. Okay, thank you so much. She soon found out he had a suspended license, an active warrant, and a history of arguing with the cops. So, she then called for back up. Hello, Mr. Gang. I need you to turn your car off and step out. Why not? I need you to step out. I'm giving you a lawful order to step out of the car car. Pennsylvania versus Mims, get out of the car now or I'm going to make take you out. Get out of the car. Hey. Leon. Leon. Leon, don't do not put your car in drive. Step out of the car. I'll let you I'll let you make as many calls at our police department. Step out of the car, you're under arrest. I'm going to break your window, okay, sir? I don't want to do that. Step out of the car. Or I'm going to break your window. You do not want me to break your window. I want you to step out of the car. If you I'm Listen. I'm giving you multiple Leon. You just said it. Leon, I'm going to break your window. Even if the man hadn't had a warrant by that point, his refusal to comply would have been grounds for his arrest. And even after multiple warnings, he was still refusing to comply. And at that point, the officer had to make a decision. I can take this down. Cuz it's down some. Pull it down. Go for it. You got it. Go. No, stop stop stop stop stop stop. Stop. Leon, open the door. Just open the door, brother. Under arrest. Just deal with it. Act like AN ADULT. HEY! HE'S GOT HIS FOOT ON THE GAS. GET YOUR ARM GET YOUR ARM OUT. GET OUT OF THE CAR. Thank you. Get the police sheriff sheriff now. They They THEY JUST JUST THEY JUST assaulted me. Just assaulted me. I'm glad it's all Are Are your Are your cameras on? Oh, great. Some people just have a hard time learning from their mistakes. And as far as Leon goes, despite the fact that he'd been through all this over and over, it looked like he still hadn't learned a thing. That being said, at least the man knew that it wasn't smart to reach for anything in the car while at gunpoint. Keep your hands up. Keep your hands up. Stop reaching around. Oh, yeah. You guys just looking for some reason to shoot me. I'm sure. >> No, we're not. We're trying to take you into custody. We told you multiple times you're under arrest. I need I need either a counsel law here an actual counsel law or a sheriff. I think you should turn the car off so that the electronic isn't working. Don't knee my hand. You're in my vehicle. Yeah, rightfully so. No, you're not. You're not rightful. I'm not resisting. Yes, you are. 100%. Am I under arrest? Yes. I told you. Step out of the car. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Don't tense them up. He's got cuffs. Don't grab my hands. Don't grab my hands. Well, you say you need to spit. >> Just wait and let you spit on the ground. Spit on your car, don't spit on us. Oftentimes, sovereign citizens want to talk to the sheriff because they somehow think that he's the only rightfully appointed officer of the law. Of course, it doesn't make any sense, especially given the fact that they don't consider themselves American citizens in the first place. So, you denied me a sheriff? You denied American state national sheriff. >> Stop. Stop. Do you have anything on you that's going to poke me, stick me, or hurt me, Leon? You know what? No, I don't. And all that paperwork goes with me. Every bit of it. That's everything I have to ever say right there. So, all that I'm going to grab all that stuff and I'm taking it with me. We'll grab it for you. I'm going to tell you which ones to grab or I'll make sure that you You don't know what you're doing. That's my law. Searching you. You You got my paperwork. You're in default. Come to think of it, I just recognized your name. Well, this is going to happen again, but now it's 30 million. Sorry. Hey, wait a minute. I got to get my paperwork. I have to get that paperwork. >> it. I No, I need the All right, the big folder and the small folder on the seat. I see No. Cuz we're going to go We're going to We're going to catalog every piece that's in there that I tried to offer you. We're going to photograph everything. Oh, good. That's great. I'm glad. All my paperwork? Watch your leg. Everything that's in the car. Leon. I need that paperwork now. That's my That's my Watch your face. Once again, the so-called sovereign status didn't help the man. Leon was charged with resisting arrest, driving an uninsured vehicle, driving on a suspended license, obstruction, two counts of aggravated battery on law enforcement, and possession of fictitious license plates. On August 26th, 2024, a man tried to deposit more than $1.6 million. However, he was using strange-looking checks and a questionable form of ID. The employees immediately suspected a scam here and called police. He's at the office now with the manager. He's writing me checks look very fake. Um his passport, what I saw in my eyes is that it should be year month date, but I don't know. She clerk has contacted our security and she said to call you guys. He's trying to pass for deposit it. He's in my office now presenting these. I think it's to be a fake passport. The date um it says the date's supposed [music] to be backwards. Like the year's supposed to be over there. Do those feel like real checks or No, they They're already pre-made. I ran them through check systems. The name didn't come up on check systems. They just had a credit score of low very low credit score and no reason he should be getting these kind of checks, it seems. Well, he's saying he's saying that it's in his account. >> Yeah, he's saying it's came from a bank from him, he's saying. What bank? In Missouri. Well, even the picture picture has to be white. Oh, right. Yeah. The suspect claimed he was trying to transfer his funds from a Federal Reserve Bank account in St. Louis. However, he had a terrible credit score and had no history of large deposits, which were clear red flags. The employees continued stalling the man, which gave the cops time to review the man's papers. The passport he doesn't have a license. Give him this, but this doesn't even look right cuz the picture has to be white. So, it's a fake passport. He's trying to put in like almost a million and a half. All right. How you guys doing? Okay. Anthony. Yeah. What do we got going on here today? Nothing, man. Nothing? Where'd you get this passport at? I got that passport from the United States government. You got some ID other ID on you? I got a passport card also. I'm an nationally protected person. Protected a for what? That ID. What do you mean "protect a person"? >> I'm a national protected person. What the hell is that? You saw what national protected person. I mean anything. From the wall, you're saying? No, okay. With I'm I'm just a national protected person. That's what that ID is. I just got it. Never heard of that. >> he's a sovereign citizen. Yeah. No, I'm not >> [clears throat] >> Yeah, you are. No, I'm not. It says it right there on the back of your car. No, it don't. No, it don't. The suspect, Anthony, was adamant that he wasn't a sovereign citizen, but everything the guy said aligned with their movement. Just for example, the idea of not being required to have a driver's license to drive a motor vehicle. So, you don't have a driver's license? No. Okay, cuz you can't drive out of here. No, I know. Cuz you don't have a license. I don't need a license. Yes, you do. No, I don't. So, you're so you're saying you're a sovereign citizen. >> No, I'm not saying I'm a sovereign citizen. My car is that 2013 Ford Explorer out there. Okay. Go call that number in to 6675 to uh the Ohio to the United States Department of Transportation. It's got a DOT number on there. That car is That car is under my trust, and I'm operating out of my trust. And that car is trust property, and that right there, those checks are written off my trust. And I have written permission from the Federal Reserve Bank to use that account. No, that's what we're going to check. Man, you can check all you want. >> [clears throat] >> Those accounts are private. Isn't that what I told you? You did? Didn't you ask me where the funds was coming from? Yep, that's what I put on. I ain't got nothing to lie about. I ain't got nothing to hide. I ain't no thief. And I ain't doing nothing illegal. The suspect, appeared to be convinced that he wasn't doing anything illegal, and his delusion was so strong that he even admitted to the cops that he'd done this twice before, and told the cops the locations as well as the dates. Now, I appreciate y'all calling me a sovereign citizen cuz I'm not. Don't put no claim to no name. You don't label me. Now, what I want you to know is >> citizens sovereign citizens claim the same thing. >> you to know I'm not a sovereign citizen. You can't put me in the boat with somebody else, okay? I'm a ex- officer, just like you guys, okay? I know what you did. Remember, I'm a ex-cop. Trumbull County Sheriff and at the same time I was working at Trumbull County Sheriff, I was working at Caudill Metropolitan Housing Authority full-time on the midnight shift. Y'all need to stop assuming and stop putting labels on people. That's disrespectful. Don't call me something that I don't claim to be. You don't know diddly squat about me besides what's in that computer. That's all you know about me. >> [clears throat] >> You don't know nothing else about me. Well, we know you can't. You're not allowed to drive. No, I am. Yeah, I am allowed to drive. Yeah. I don't need a a driver's license. Yes, you do. No, I don't. While he claimed he wasn't a sovereign citizen, he was using all the same tropes. His car was under a so-called trust. He said he didn't need a driver's license, and he even told the cops to come to his house to check if everything was legit. All right, check. You need to show you that you're just doing this? Go to my house. Look at my account, and I'll walk into my IRS account, and you see them checks coming. >> How do you How do we know you're not just doing this? >> Cuz I don't talk You want to mark I don't talk You want to mark I'm 64 going on 65 years old, officer. 65 years old. Don't talk to I talk the talk, I walk the walk. When did all this start, this stuff? When did this That start? I've had that for the last 2 years. But, listen, you you're giving money to people who are shysters who take take your money and give you this ID that does nothing, that goes nowhere. These people don't They don't have send that ID in They're just They're just They're taking your money and putting you in a jackpot. That's all they're doing. >> No. Listen, I haven't taken nothing. >> in this ideology that they have that [music] No. All right. I'm just trying to I haven't sent this ID I I mean to the government yet, okay? I haven't sent it into the government. When I send this this ID into the government, they're going to put it in the computer. Who said that? No, I know who said it. I haven't I haven't done it yet. Who told you that? Nobody told me anything. Where'd you read it? I ain't read it nowhere. How do [music] you know? Cuz I know. The officer kept trying to reason with the man, but he was just talking in circles like every sovereign citizen. By that time, the supervisor here had to make a decision. There were just way too many red flags here, and most of all, those fake checks. Here's the deal. We're going to take him. There's multiple things wrong A with this passport, picture, the issuance date, and so forth. But, we contacted the Federal Reserve, and the primary thing right now is the Federal Reserve in St. Louis where he's claiming this money is at doesn't issue personal checks. He's got a personal check here. They don't have personal accounts. Accounts. Okay. So, amongst other things, the print on this There's just They're They're bogus checks. He's trying to cash $1.6 million here. So, she's going to get other answers here from the Federal Reserve here in a few minutes, but in the meantime, there's enough. We're going to get The supervisor explained that he didn't want to arrest him for check fraud just yet, because then he might post bail and disappear. So, instead, they chose to detain the man for a pending investigation, which gave them plenty more time to gather evidence. You understand that they they both stand All right. I'm going to have you go and stand up, and you're going to be detained in handcuffs. For what? What are y'all arresting me for? Hold on. You got the key on you? Lock him. Yeah. Can I call my girlfriend? So, she's from the from the county. That's my ID right there. >> [music] >> Where's my passport book? Can you see the I Well, we're we're keep we're keeping that. Keep it. You keeping my passport book for what? All right, go ahead. So, you know there's a possible arrest, right? So, you guys are going to have to tell me why you're arresting me, huh? Well, I'm guessing passing bad checks, my friend. >> I ain't passing no damn bad checks. I ain't passing no bad checks. Right here, this one. I got permission to use that account from from the Federal Reserve Bank and the IRS. Ultimately, Anthony was charged with two counts of counterfeiting, two counts of passing bad checks, and two counts of using criminal tools after using fraudulent IDs. With a stack of felonies like that, he might finally take time to reconsider his ideology. As we just saw in Anthony's case, some of these sovereign citizens are so indoctrinated with their false beliefs that they find themselves in situations they could have easily avoided. Case in point, this next woman who, like so many others, was pulled over for not having tags. Pulled you over cuz you don't have a tag on your car. Mhm. Yeah, because I am part of the American State Republic. And do you know that we do not have to have tags or registration anymore? Do you know that? Okay. Your license? Yes, I do. And I just want you to know I'm traveling in my private vehicle. I am not operating in commerce. Okay. And that's why I do not need a tag or registration. I don't even have to have a driver's license, but as soon I just got that, so I haven't had a chance to address my other identification, but this is the new identification. It covers passport, driver's license, all of that, and it has all the documents in there for you to look at. Okay. Okay. So, I'm at least going to need to look at your VIN on your car. No, you don't have to look at anything. This is my private vehicle. Okay. And I'm traveling. I am not operating in commerce. Just imagine being a cop and having to deal with this nonsense on a daily basis. Even worse, some of these sovereign citizens use this patronizing voice as if they're here to teach these poor uneducated cops about the law. I didn't get your job. I didn't do that. But, all a lot of that is going to be changing. Okay. So, you said it's going to be changing. It's not changed. >> Changed. It As of right now? As of January the 1st, no one else is going to ever have to have a driver's license, registration, or tag. >> January 1st of what? Next year, 2025. We're [clears throat] still in 2025. It matter I don't know if I'm a US citizen. I'm an American State National. Okay. I am an American citizen. Which gave me She's not a citizen of the United States. She's an American State citizen, but it says United States Department. Well, do you need me to give me any kind of driver's license? I said no. Yeah. >> Or registration? I said at least need to check the VIN. She says, "No, I don't." All right. I say we get her out of the car. Huh? I say we get her out. Go ahead and step out. I'm not getting out of my car. Ma'am, step out of the car. >> No. I'm not you. You're not ordering me to Because Pennsylvania V M says I can order you out of the vehicle. They're saying that Pennsylvania V M is ordering me out of the car. As expected, the suspect then pulled their phone out and called someone up who would keep feeding them nonsense. It happens all the time, and it just instigates things further. When they get encouraged by others, the suspects get emboldened, and ultimately, they end up making everything a whole lot harder than it had to be. I have not committed any crimes. Step out of the vehicle. Right now, you are committing a crime. You're resisting. He's saying that me not getting out of my car he's saying that being resisting. Hey, so I'm just signaling 14. I'm about to bust her window on pepper blaster. Yeah, it's up against the curb like she's in the parking stall. She's up against the curb in a large uh median area. Can you please ask your supervisor to come here? Get out of the car, ma'am. I'm not I'm not doing I'm about to take it. Why are you making me get out of my car? GET OUT OF THE CAR. WHY? GET OUT OF THE CAR RIGHT NOW. >> I I DONE ANYTHING. GET OUT OF THE CAR. >> MA'AM, GET OUT OF THE CAR OR YOU'RE GOING TO GET TASED. All right. Just I don't know what I'm doing. All right. Let me see if she gets up. I I didn't do anything. What are you doing? Back in the day, when the sovereign citizen stuff first started popping up, the cops had no idea how to handle it. But based on more recent encounters, one thing's clear, the cops have run out of patience for nonsense like this. What are you >> Stop resisting. >> I'm not resisting. You've been resisting this whole time, yeah. >> You're just telling me to get out of my car. Watch your ass cuz you're just a Yeah, he's giving you a lawful order to get out of the vehicle, correct? Correct? Tell me what crime I've committed. Right now it's resisting, okay? >> I haven't resisted. >> This man. I asked you for my I haven't committed a crime. I gave it to you. Give me your identification. I'll I can give you my driver's license. For what stop point? I already asked you for it. You asked me for my ID. No, I asked you for your driver's license. And I gave it to her as a passport. No, I didn't ask you anything. I told you to get out and you didn't. I know, but you had didn't even identify yourself. And what was going on? Okay. Can you give him the car? I want to please get your supervisor here. So listen, can you give him my car? And on the back, yes, it has all the information. Those codes back there are for you guys. That's what they're for. She also said everything's going to be changing soon. Next year or the next year. Do you have that and I'm I'm an American state national. The suspect kept talking about not being incorporated and being in the US, but not being a US citizen. The cops didn't have any time for it and the female officer conducted her search as her colleagues tried to find the VIN on her car. Yeah, I'm allergic to air fresheners. Okay. Okay. So can I keep my head out? I I'm really allergic to air fresheners. Okay, thank you. But it's really strong in here. I'll put the window down. All right, what's up? I did not resist arrest. She You did not? >> No, sir. So why was the window broken? Because he just walked up to me, didn't announce who he was, didn't tell me what was going on. He just said get out of your car. And I said, well, I'm I'm So you you were dealing with a police officer already. And then He never announced himself. >> Okay, he doesn't have to. There's a You're already dealing with an officer, so another officer is a Okay. Okay, you didn't. No, sir. Well, then we should just release you. Yes, you should. Based on that pause before she responded to them, she clearly noticed the irony in the cop's voice. And before she had a chance to go on with her rant, the officer stopped the woman and gave her the cold, hard facts. Here's the facts. You thought that you were going to be able to do whatever you wanted to do and that we weren't going to yank you out of your car. Actually, No, I didn't think that. They got you out of the car pretty nice compared to maybe how I would have handled it. Because I probably would have put an axe pick through that thing, shoveled out the entire glass and dragged you out that window. If you are told to exit the vehicle, you exit the vehicle. It's that simple. >> me. I didn't know who he was or what he was doing. >> of all, it got to the point you weren't listening to the initial officer. Who who who by the way >> ID like he asked. who by the way is a very Yes, and I gave it to him. She never asked for anything else. >> you were told several times to exit the vehicle. Yes or no? But I asked if I committed a crime and he didn't tell me I You don't No, no, no, no, no, stop. This is where you make the mistake. Were you ordered out of the vehicle, yes or no? It's a yes or no. Were you ordered out of the vehicle? >> then you don't have to talk to me. You're the one who asked me to talk. >> here, please. >> No, he's not coming here. I am the superior. I am the watch commander. I am the watch commander. For most of the encounter, the woman desperately wanted to talk to a supervisor. But after she got her wish granted, somehow she didn't get what she expected. The officer made it clear to her that he hates dealing with sovereign citizens. Sir. I am the watch commander. How many times do I have to say it? What other language do you speak so I can help? Sir. I am an American state national. We deal [music] with sovereign citizens all the time. You're not the first one. >> citizen. I'm an American state national. Well, you know what? Sovereign citizens started changing their names to American state nationals. So you're an American state national {slash} sovereign citizen, whatever, because now you're changing your name so that way, you know, it's like, oh, it's not the same thing. It's the same thing. You're free to travel. Um you know, you're free to travel, you don't have to abide by traffic laws like everyone else does and all this yada yada yada. Look, it just it gets tiring. It gets tiring of this. Um It is about being honorable and not doing any harm. Sure. Um You said you wanted to plead the fifth. You got You got your chance to plead the fifth. You don't have to say anything incriminating. They charged the woman with resisting without violence and then 1 week later they arrested her again, this time for failing to register a motor vehicle. She ended up pleading no contest and served [music] 7 days in jail. When she was caught by a traffic cam in Florida 2 months later, she did have a license plate, but her registration was still [music] expired. When people think of squatters, they usually picture dilapidated sheds or abandoned buildings. But on the 3rd of July, 2024, the cops headed over to a $3 million mansion to resolve an ongoing squatter problem. James, watch out there. Looks like two dogs just came out from the side of the house. Hi, puppy. Hi. Hi. Hey, how are you? I'm good. How are you doing? Good. Homeland Police. How you doing, sir? Good. Did you buy this? We had it at uh it's an abandoned property, so I just saw the car. I just wanted to check on everything. Everything is fine. Huh? How did you even get in there? Oh, the fence. Okay. >> I'm Chris. How you doing? Hey. Messiah. Messiah? Pleasure. All right. Uh when did you guys buy the property? I have the paperwork and everything. But how did you even You got to figure it out. Y'all jumped the fence. Well, no. Right over there. There's a hole We have the combinations to all the to all the car lot [ __ ] Yes, I have all my paperwork and everything. Okay. I would like appreciate it if y'all could just get off the yard. That's not going to happen until you until you prove that this is your place cuz we've been dealing with this and you keep coming back here. So you already know what's going to happen. The officer immediately recognized the suspect as it wasn't the first time he dealt with him. And while the cops made it clear why they were there, the man grew increasingly agitated. Y'all you guys are really crazy. Why? Like what are y'all doing? Huh? Like what are you doing? I I just saw you like I said. We have a we have Turn your body camera on, please. No, absolutely not. So it's going to stay on. You said no. Yeah. All right. Give me a second just to protect Woah woah woah hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Oh yeah no no, it's it is on. I thought you meant turn it off. Oh no, I said turn it on. I know, it's definitely on. Stay right there. No no. Hold on. Hold on. Nope. Nope. Nope. Stop. Stop. Listen, we're either going to have a conversation or you're going to jail. Open the door. >> want to speak to you. All right. I don't want you in my house. This is not your house. It is. I have paperwork for this house. It's not. >> And this is. Sir, we've been through We've been through this before, man. Did you cut the locks and change them again? I did not. Cuz that's what you did last time. Okay. What's your first name? Is it Marquis? Yes, it's Messiah, sir. All right. Not I I don't want I want your government name. Messiah, sir. Messiah. Messiah. And please stop asking me stupid questions, sir. The suspect wouldn't give the cops ID, but he handed one piece of paper after another to them and they were all completely meaningless. He was using the same old sovereign citizen language and said he was federally protected under a trust. But the cops here wanted cold, hard proof. But I still haven't seen a deed. Where's the deed? Where's the deed to the house? The deed is coming in the mail. >> you said the last time. Sir. >> you said the last time. That looks like a prescription. If you think you're going to charge an estate, that's who's suing you, buddy. You see that name? Yeah. I'm your Messiah and and believe that. I will sue the [ __ ] out of you. That's fine. You can. Get off of my property, please. No. Please. >> No. I showed you the paper. Nope. This this is all I have right now. That's that means nothing. That's all I have, sir. If anything, you got to you got to go to court. This is a civil matter. It's not. >> It's a civil matter and I told you what it is. This is you trespassing. It's a civil matter and I don't trespass, sir. Yeah. They did already. I live on the land. I am heir. I am God. I'm a sovereign being. I know I know. That's why That's why you're going to learn that that's not how the world works. >> Well, you're going to see. Okay. As the officer explained to the man that the bank owned the house as they'd foreclosed on it and further explained that he was trespassing, backup arrived to assist with the arrest. Once the other cops signaled they were ready, the suspect here, Marquis, aka Messiah, was suddenly out of options. And I'm not coming out. You're under You're under arrest. You're under arrest. You're under arrest. Take the knife. Sir. You're playing these stupid Oh no, please give me my paper, sir. Let me call my Get him in cuffs. car. Get him up. Get him up. Get him up. No, stop moving. Stop Stop moving around. What are you grabbing for? Listen, stop moving. Stop moving. Stop moving. Can you please just get my stuff? My keys and things. Stop. Daryl. You know so relax. Daryl. Relax. Relax. I'm not doing nothing, bro. Can you get my phone? It's right there. No. No, that's not it. My phone right there, bro. All right, we'll grab it. Can you get my phone? Relax. You don't even got to You don't even got to do none of that. Can you get my phone for me, dude? All right, we'll grab it. We'll grab it. Let's go. Just walk. Yeah. What is this? Why do y'all got Y'all Y'all cut the lock? Yeah, what do you think? Marquise, just walk. Bro, y'all are trespassing. After securing the man, the cops then cleared the residence. The man then told the cops that Marquise wasn't his name, likely because he had multiple warrants for his arrest. On the way to the squad car, he kept saying that he owned the house under adverse possession. This makes I live here. You live here? Yes. You own this house? Yes. Okay. Bring his car around. I got the paperwork and everything. I just sold these somewhere. From the clerk, the county clerk's office. The county clerk's office? Yes. You You purchased this house? Do you have the deed for it? It's the adverse possession and I told them that. Adverse possession. >> It doesn't exist. Bro. It doesn't exist. Yes, it is. Squatter's rights, all of that exists. Real. It doesn't exist. You can't just take over a house. That doesn't work. Squatter's rights I have stuff in there. I have things in there. I have things in here. I live there. I have a room set up. This is abandoned property. I've been living here. I've been living here for 3 months. 3 months? Yes, Messiah Law L Bey has been living here. For 3 months. As it turns out, Marquise was partially right. Adverse possession is actually a thing. In some states, a squatter can sue the owner and obtain ownership of the property. But that's only after they've used the property for decades and assuming the owner knew about it and did nothing to stop it. Y'all not finished. Nope. Just do me a favor. Just face the car. Just spread your legs. Bro, what are you Hey, get your hand out of your Please don't hurt Please don't touch me, bro. Relax. In your pocket. Oh, I Yeah. I'm going to unclench my hand. I'm clenched. I am. I You unclench me. Let me go. This is my stuff. All right. Bro, if you don't let me go, bro. Marquise, relax. Relax. Get off of me. He's got He's got a [ __ ] What I got? >> know. I don't know. I don't know what Weirdo. Relax. Daryl, what do you need? I'm going to just roll him over. Yep. What's in his hand? This hand right here. Bro. What the [ __ ] What the [ __ ] What the [ __ ] What the [ __ ] I got the I got his legs. Yep. What the [ __ ] What the [ __ ] Marquise, you're fine. What the [ __ ] I got it. I got it. All right, I need medical treatment. I need medical treatment. >> Can you please get off of me? This is unnecessary. He kept complaining about technicalities like Miranda rights not being read and kept threatening to sue the cops. After arresting the man, they called his brother up to come and get his car. And when his brother got there, he actually supported Marquise's claims. Why y'all taking such an interest in this house? That's really none of your business, so. Huh? That's none of your business. It got to be my business if y'all keep coming over here harassing him if he's doing something. It's a It's a It's a civil matter. It's not a police matter. Okay, well I'm just trying to figure out why y'all keep coming here. It is a police matter right now. We come here all the time. Why do you Why do you think we're harassing him? Cuz I hate cops. Cuz y'all just are just harass people. Y'all just hate What's the problem? Cuz y'all are harassing my brother. Cuz y'all harass people. You don't have any You don't have any reason to be in the house that doesn't belong to you. It don't belong to you neither. Is your name on this paper? No, it's a civil matter. It ain't your matter. It's between him and the person who own that house. It ain't you. It's the bank that owns it. It's the bank that owns Is it the bank No, but we have the You have the It's the people whose name is on that trust. And then they tell that the the bank is trying to take it from them. And my brother's trying to take it from the bank. So they're all on a whole civil matter that y'all have nothing to do with it. The property secured until it's rectified. It's a civil matter that they have going on that y'all have nothing to do with. I You're Unfortunately, that's not right. That's not correct, all right? Your brother's in the house that does not belong to him. There's no No legal right to be here. No one lives here. Does it look like Nobody lives here. They charged the man with multiple felonies including armed burglary, theft, trespassing, criminal mischief, and making threats towards law enforcement. In the end, he didn't get ownership of the mansion. Nothing says sovereign citizen more than fictitious traveler plates or a VIN number that's been covered up. And when the cops pull these people over, there's nothing more important to them than maintaining their delusions, not even when their wife is in the passenger seat. Hi, I'm Officer of the Police Department. You are being audio and video recorded. Reason why I stopped is for the license plate. Oh, yeah, it's the papers. We're not going through this. You got an ID on you? If it's just an ID, that's all I want. I got to give you this first. Don't want it. Can you go ahead and remove the paper from the VIN, please? I got to give you this first. Can you remove the paper from the VIN, please? Sure, we'll do whatever you want. Just got to give you this first. I'm not taking that. I need the the paper removed from the VIN or you're under arrest. Okay. So, you're you're denying this information, right? Yes, I am. I need your ID and I need the paper removed from the VIN, please. As the suspect desperately tried to get the cop here to read his laminated piece of paper, his wife quietly snuck out of the passenger seat. She looked embarrassed and obviously wanted no part of this situation. Suddenly, the driver produced something that he said was an ID. Return for now. You got a driver's license, sir? You can step from my ID. You got a Washington state or other state driver's license. I'm not taking that. Okay, which driver's license do you want? >> Want a Washington state or whatever state you're through. And I need the paper removed from the VIN. Okay. So are you assuming I'm in the state of Washington? I'm not in the state of Washington. That's great. I'm acting in the capacity of a driver, so I'm not carrying a driver's license. Uh we're not doing this. Remove paper from the VIN. I'm just letting you know I'm not acting as >> Remove the paper from the VIN. Remove the paper from the VIN. That's a misdemeanor. Uh that's not a misdemeanor. At this point, you're under arrest. Go ahead and turn off the vehicle and exit the vehicle for me. Uh for what purpose am I being arrested? You're under arrest. For what? So you're not identifying yourself. You're not removing the VIN from the No. Step out of the car. You're under arrest. I don't want that. I want a state driver's license. If I was acting in the capacity If I was acting in the capacity of a driver, I'd have my driver's license, but I'm I'm not doing this. Traveling personal property point to point B. So, you're refusing my identification? We're not doing this. The craziest thing about this is that prior to this incident, the man had already been arrested and had gone to trial. He decided to represent himself in court, which as things turned out, was a huge embarrassment for him on social media. And even after all that, it seemed he hadn't learned a thing. Can you turn off the vehicle for me, please? Okay. Is that a lawful request? Yes, it is. For what? Under what law? Cuz you're about to get crossed with an interstate DMV man here and I'm about to have to make you exit the vehicle and I'd like to do it safely so we don't injure other people in the process. Hey, get out of the car. You're under arrest. Get out of the car. You're trying to kick my iPhone from work, man. What are you doing? Get out of the car. Get out of the car. Get out of the car. Turn around. Put your arms behind your back. You're under arrest. You got to lock the door. According to the police report by Officer Blackwell, during their struggle, the suspect, later identified as Chris Haywood, tried to close the door on the cop's arm. It aggravated a previous injury and caused a muscle strain. But they still detained the man and took him to a squad car. Go to the other side. Got the camera? I don't have my license. I don't have my license. All right. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the Sorry, give me Give me one second. Traveler? Traveler and won't uncover the VIN, didn't want to provide a state license. All right, sir. Can you listen Listen up just a little bit, please? How about you listen to me real quick? Okay, I see this punishment now. All right. The officer then returned to Mirandize Chris. Since he complained about his handcuffs being too tight, the officer loosened them a bit. And while he was at it, he tried to give the man a little advice. This is the way to not get these on you is to, you know, listen to the commands that were given to you. I was trying. I did everything I was asked to do. Everything I was asked to do. I did it. So what is this arrest for, anyways? Failure to identify, obstruction Failure to identify yourself to a police officer and obstructing the VIN in your vehicle. So failure to identify, that's not a crime. Yes, it is. Okay, then your passport and you denied it. I don't want a passport. You don't have any traveling papers or any of that other nonsense. I need an All right, so listen up. I need to remove the VIN or the paper from the VIN. Can I have your consent to remove Negative. All right. All right, we'll call a tow truck. Secured as evidence. Take it to the PD. As far as these sovereign citizens go, it's not only detrimental to them, but also to those around them. A few moments later, the cops talked to his wife, and she took the opportunity to get a coffee from Starbucks. Unfortunately, everything in the car say it has to stay in the car. We're going to do a Yeah, we can't take it out. Oh, that's my for my work. All right. So, are you a sovereign citizen, too? I'm sorry? Are you a sovereign citizen, too? No. No, you don't believe in your husband's nonsense? >> want your Is that your husband? Okay. Well, unfortunately for your husband, this stuff doesn't ever work out. So, one, he's not identifying himself, he doesn't want to give me a state name or a state driver's license, and he's got a piece of paper covering the van with no license plate, so now I've got to take this thing as evidence to figure out where this vehicle belongs to. Um, I'm sorry. I know, but I have to go through the steps now. All right? Okay, my stuff is there. I know, and I'm sorry. And then, who's going to drive the A tow truck. >> Uh First, where do you live at? Here in Walhalla. I can take you home. What's your husband's name? Chris Haywood. What was it? >> Chris Haywood. Haywood? Yeah, he does have a driver's license. Okay. Ultimately, it turned out that the cops were more considerate of Ms. Haywood than they were with Chris. Chris was charged with concealing a VIN, failing to obey a lawful order, and displaying a fictitious license plate. On New Year's Day, 2025, a hotel manager called police due to an unruly customer. The man was clearly experiencing a mental health crisis, so the officer approached him with caution. Joseph, you got to go, boss. They want you gone. The staff wants you trespassed, so we're going to go up, we're going to get and we're going to get you out of here, okay? I'll give you a trespass warning. >> the stuff and everything, I can't leave without my stuff. Well, we're going to go in room whatever the suite is that you have up there. >> 216. 216 is it the suite? >> That's the one we have a problem. I'm a holy man trinity, so don't take advantage. >> we're going to get God. Okay, come on. We're going to go up and >> pay attention, please. No. Same thing will happen to you. Do you have a a room key for uh the management suite? All right, go gather your stuff and clear the property. Well, that's not going to happen. It's my place. Okay, if that's the case, then you're going to go to jail. Well, hey, you got to go do your job. I am, right now. >> No, you're not. You're going to go gather your stuff. I'm being rude to you. Don't cause a scene. Let's go upstairs and let's get your stuff and get you out of here. >> do what everybody can see it. I don't think you understand, Joseph. They want you trespassed from the property. They want you trespassed from the property. >> That's fine. You You go up there and get it. >> all my money back and there's a lot of stuff to do. So, slow down. While things did start off polite, they quickly escalated into a confrontation. [music] However, the cops had to be clear with the man, so they explained to him that he could either get his stuff and leave, or they were going to have to arrest him. Unfortunately, though, he had other things in mind. Hey, we need you to go check out who's trying to kill me. Listen, we're not going TO DO THAT RIGHT NOW. You need to stop, YOU'RE CAUSING A SCENE. >> NO! YOU'RE CAUSING A SCENE. >> 2 days, my friend. Listen. Enough. Do you see these people looking at you? >> me serious. I don't know what to >> looking at you? You know what that's called? Disorderly conduct. >> I am trying I'm trying to to God, okay? And if they don't believe me, the same thing's going to happen to them as the other cops that are in the room waiting to be found. Joseph >> Whatever, that's the truth, and that's all I can tell is the truth. I think we need >> Cuz I'm a holy man. Listen. No. They want you trespassed. I can't I don't want I don't want to press charges on somebody that trespassed means me. Listen, the officers last Oh, you should have told me before. No, I want you to get your stuff. We're going to get you out of here. Apparently, you've been causing a scene, and now I I see exactly why you're Slow down. Listen to me. I'm very smart. >> Listen to me, you're going to be arrested. >> I'm not going to. Okay. >> That's what you're doing. You stand put. Yeah. The officer's backup plan was to get the manager to go to his room, pick his things up, and bring them out. And before doing so, he gave the man one more chance to do it himself. Surprisingly, the man agreed. All right, Joe. Joe. You're harassing me. Calm down. Let's go upstairs, let's clean out whatever's up there in your room, okay? >> I'll put it all together, but I need all my stuff. We'll talk We'll talk about that. Somebody stole my stuff. We'll We'll talk about that. Let's go get your stuff. Sorry for the inconvenience, yeah. All right, I finally got him, he's coming. So, we're going to let him get his own stuff. All right, Joe. >> Look, I got bruises everywhere. I see that. That's crazy. Yeah. Let's get your stuff. You know you can't do anything? We're going to talk about that after you get your stuff, okay? I got injuries. Oh, wow, this is a nice suite. Yeah, but that's how he really got to messing with me, jumping all last night. I died twice, brought him back to life. Telling you. Holy [ __ ] you killed someone? >> it, man. You killed someone last night? I had to, they wouldn't stop. Jesus. That's what I'm telling you, it's so serious. That is so serious. >> their legs. They're still laying there. Where? I'm a god. Who stopped told you? 16216. 216, yeah. Okay. I broke all of their bones in my life. We'll go check on them next. Sleep. Just like the obvious confusion, such disturbing claims had to be checked. So, the cops took the man back to the lobby, then went upstairs to check room 216, which was right next door. Hello. Hey, how are you? >> opened my door and I Yeah, I'm sorry, I was knocking. This is going to sound really strange. Are you okay? Yeah. There's no dead people in there or anything like that? No. Okay. There was a crazy guy that was last night you had an interaction with some guy? Mhm. Okay. We got home at like 11:00 and he Okay. I was just making sure that we were dealing with a guy who's not all there mentally, and he said that he killed someone in 216 and brought them back to life and broke all their bones. Oh. I was just making sure everyone's alive. Okay. All right, is just you in there? And my boyfriend. And he's not dead? No, he's alive. Can you just kind of crack the door and make Babe, you're alive? Looks like to me, he's alive. All right, you can fill him in later. Thank you. Luckily enough, it turned out the only thing Joseph might have done last night was argue with a dog. After making sure there were no dead bodies in the room, the cops went back down to the lobby, where the drama continued. Joe, where do you live? Like normally. I don't live in I live in Walhalla. Right on. So, I will put transient status. Where do you want I actually move around. Find my area location where I want to live. Right on, man. Drifter. It's going to be the vent possibly out of Florida. I'm just holding him weight about a buck 60, maybe. What color eyes he got? Figure it out. Bang. What color eyes you got? Got my name. I do. I do. Just look it up. It's on your computer. Do you see a computer? My ID. Well, it's in your car. Yeah, but I'm not in my car. Well, that's your problem, not mine. Okay. I can fill that out later. Good. I'm not answering any questions to liars. All right, well, here's the deal, Joe. I'm going to explain something to you. Do you have a valid license? Yes or no? Do you have a valid license? I don't now. Just when the cops resolved one issue, a second popped up, and right along with it, a third. Not only did he not have a license, but the man's Hummer wasn't even registered. And on top of all that, he continued being uncooperative. Just do your job, give me my money, and I'm out of here. If your car isn't registered, you can't drive. What? If your car isn't registered, you can't drive. I can drive and do what I want. If it's not registered, you can't drive. You want to make a bet? You better call your chief and see who I am. All right, Joe. You're not big enough. All right, so he hasn't had a had a valid license since 1992. He's permanently canceled. And that Hummer has never been registered. He's adamant that he's going to drive it out. Okay, well, I'll take him to jail. Joe, they're going to strand me, I need help. Here's your copy of the trespass warning. You are officially trespassed. Oh my god, you'll help me. That means they don't want you here on the property. They don't want you in the parking lot. They don't want you anywhere on the grounds of the hotel. Okay, so hang on. I agree 100%, but somebody screwed up. Right on, so we're all in agreement. However, we got to address the other issue, which is your vehicle. Your vehicle is here. They don't want your vehicle here, either. You can't drive it. You don't have a license and your registration You have no Are we done here? Cuz they're not going to tell me what I can and can't do. You're not going to tell God what you can and can't do. I'm going to tell you right now that if you drive that vehicle, you're going to jail. That vehicle's never been registered and you haven't had a license since 1992. The man was clearly set in his ways, and threatening the officers only escalated things. He never showed signs that he might calm down or comply, so he left the cops with no choice but to move forward. I am Zeus. You don't understand yet. If you don't know me, you can look me up.
