Did you tell them at the jail that you were going to kill me? Did you say you were going to hurt me? So, somebody needs to arrest him because I'm scared. He's choked me in the past and I passed out. Okay. How does he have any drugs? He's on drugs. Close the doors. Please let me listen. I don't know what happened. I want to listen. I am your mother and I am not allowing you to speak to him until I am done speaking to him. Most parents believe their children are inherently good. However, some parents are faced with the horrifying realization that the child they raised and loved has become a cold-hearted monster. And some of them even present a danger to their own parents. There's unimaginable horror felt by parents when they realize their kids are actually killers. [Music] All right, be ready. Hey, get up. Get the up. I'm going to put it in you. In New Mexico, 15-year-old Braden Merke is aunt. After committing this crime, he fled the scene using his aunt's Mazda SUV. This prompted cops to use a helicopter and follow the boy from the skies. Drive South Drive. Okay, we got units. Got black and white coming off drive. Come right up. Still southbound drive. Make a right hand turn on Sapphire Drive eastbound on Sapphire. Eastbound on Sapphire. Clear. Just made a left turn on trainer drive. Driving the speed unit right behind it. Stop on drive. First driver. The boy's motive for the murder was still unknown, but his decision to flee suggested he was definitely guilty. Once the cops started to close in on him, he made a surprising move and came to a stop. The cops approached cautiously as there's a likelihood that he could be armed. You found out. All right, be ready. Maybe you just want me to stop. SP stop. Hey, get up. Get the up. I'm going to put it in you. Get up. What the do you think you're doing? Put your hands up. Turn around. Turn around right here. Keep your hands. You're not going to move till I get somebody else. Do you understand? Hey, get the get the car. Get the car. It's trolling. I'll hold him till you get the car. Do you understand? You're not going to make any sudden moves. All right? You're going to hold until my partner gets here and gets you in cuffs. Put your right hand behind your back. Yeah. The cops found a gun on the suspect as well as additional ammunition. The gun they found might be the murder weapon. The suspect refused to talk to the officers, knowing that once he'd been handcuffed, the best thing to do was to remain silent to avoid further incrimination. What you got? What you need? I got all We already checked them out. So, I don't know who's going to take him. I'll put them in the back of mine if they want. 10 there. Yeah, they did already. Let's put them in the back of mine and then run. Go ahead. has been cleared. That's why you take off. The dodge. Yeah. I don't know who's in the top either. I don't know. I'm in the suspect's sudden decision to surrender meant that a street full of officers who had been prepared to capture him were no longer needed. By this point, the cops spent time debriefing the incident before taking the suspect to jail. Given that the suspect is a minor, police, of course, would have to notify a parent or guardian about the incident. So, he's in the back of my unit. Caught up to him. This is who was on him. So, I I had to search him. So, I don't know. I'll follow you or whoever they want me to follow to your guys's uh department and and take him. Yeah. Find out what they want to do. Good see. This is mine right here. You guys read Miranda? No, I didn't talk to him at all. I just put him in and like that so I can leave him for you guys. Okay. I grow up, bro. I want to be just like you. I was able. I didn't think it was going to end up like this. Honestly, I didn't think he'd just give up. After his capture, authorities decided to try Braden as an adult. and as a result, he could face a much harsher sentence. Luckily for Braden, New Mexico does not have the death penalty. Nevertheless, he can certainly expect to spend considerable time behind bars. On December 14th, 2024, at 3:30 a.m., police received a chilling 911 call from 16-year-old Diego Leva. He confessed to his parents and his two siblings. 911 caller, can you hear me? Hi, miss. I just wanted to call you tell you that I my parents. I'm sorry. Well, I wanted to call you and tell you tell you my parents. You called 911 and said you killed your family. Is that true? Good. Mhm. Where are you at right now? I'm in the kitchen. Okay. How did you kill them? With a pistol. Where are they at? They're laying in the ground there. They're laying in the ground. Yeah. Who did you kill? My whole parent. Your parents. And who else? I'm here with you. Just talk to me. Okay. My whole family. Your mom and dad? Yeah. Who else? My brothers. How many brothers do you have? two. Okay. When did this happen? It just happened. How long ago? Like 5 minutes ago? 3 minutes ago? Like 10 minutes ago. Police informed Diego that they were on their way and instructed him to wait outside the home. When they asked if he had any pets, he mentioned having a pet bird. As a precaution, officers advised him to leave the bird inside. However, when police arrived, they found Diego waiting outside as instructed, but holding his pet bird. Start converging on this. We're to your right, Burbank. Have him jump the fence. Let's go. Let's go. Weapons on you. Come over here. Step over here, boss. Step up. Step over here. Put your neck on your back. I'll take your Let me see. I got your B. I got him. I got him. I got him. I got his B. Yeah, let's go. Don't lose it, baby. Don't lose it, baby. According to police reports, the man's demeanor upon their arrival was described as extremely intoxicated, which may have been a factor in the homicides. After detaining Diego, the cops took photos and noticed he had several head injuries. Look at me, Diego. I got you. Thank you. Go ahead and look straight. Look at the that unit. Thank you. Inside the house, police found four dead people and a handgun on the kitchen table, which may have been the murder weapon. The victims were identified as his father Leonardo Leva, his mother Adriana Ben Ko, as well as his brothers, aged 16 and 14. Eventually, police tried to talk with the suspect. What's going on today? Has been cooperative with you, like hasn't you or anything? No, super intoxicated. just alcohol or I think so. Yeah. Your head. You put your head down. Can you look down right here so we can look at the top of your head? Diego, can you look down here? We're going to move your head down. Okay. The communication between Diego and the officers went from strange to bizarre. While he remained cooperative, he began making extremely strange noises, likely caused by his head injury, intoxication, or both. The cuts on his head were believed to be self-inflicted, and the biggest danger he presented now was to himself. All right, my friend. You got some cuts on your head. We're going to go ahead and wrap them up. All right. [Music] Where are these cuts from? Do you hit your head? No. I post I post. They don't steal a All right, be still. Okay, even around. They steal everything. He later revealed to police that he'd been hearing voices and they instructed him to kill his own family. These auditory hallucinations are often associated with either schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or psychosis. And the alcohol he consumed may have lured his ability to ignore the voices. I got a kitchen. There's a 1080 on the real quick. Okay. All right. Slow down. All right. Let's approach uh this hallway right here. That's going to be yours. Cut right. You cut [Applause] right to your left with three four doors. Whatever. Three are open. Okay. That could scare you, right? 1080 on the Oh god. Three people. Four people. I'm on you. I'm on you. Yep. I'm on. Need one more. I need one more. I'm with you. I'm with you. Four. I got four people. One, two, three. Four in the bathroom. Two. Three in the hallway. Having now committed four murders, he was about to face serious consequences. But given his state of mind while committing these heinous acts, at trial, he could possibly use an insanity plea. It's a juvenile. Yeah. He's 16. His name is Diego. It's not me that Leonardo the 1080 was the dad just so we know. Um just leave it there. Uh I wanted to get the make Ruger P95. Um since this is yours just stay right here so that doesn't disappear. Cool. Nope. He was taken into custody as a juvenile and faced four counts of first-degree murder. On the 28th of July 2023, police responded to a disturbing incident. A 13-year-old girl, Amber Archeletta, was suffering from a severe and potentially deadly gunshot wound. Upon arrival, police witnessed Amber lying on the floor. Her brother desperately asked if she was still alive. Were you here? You said you do have a full window to hear fire to the area of she live. Is there anything I can get? She still she still has a pulse. But I'm going to have to ask you, bro. What you're doing right now is not helping. I'm going to need you either go sit down over here or just give us a second. Okay. You don't need to be upset. I understand it's your sister. I understand. But what you're doing right now is your sister. I understand. But what you're doing right now is not helping. Okay? I'm not trying to be an I'm not trying to be an I'm trying to help you, buddy. Okay? This what you're doing right now isn't helping. Please do much. Well, here's the here's the thing, dude. The medics are on the way. All we can all we can try to do is is keep pro alive while the medics are she is she has a pulse. So, you need it's it's pretty good. So, can you please just go over there and let us do our job, please? It's okay. It's okay, bud. I understand you're upset. I totally get it. Okay, we're we're going to need we're going to need you to back up. Please, please, please, guys. Being here is not going to help you. Believe me. Let us do our job. Let us do our job. Travis knows exactly what he's doing. Travis knows exactly what he's doing. I understand. I understand. She alive. The closer you are, does she hold Does she have a pulse? She has a pulse. Okay. Yes, she has a pulse. I just need you. I just need to step back for a second. I understand it's your sister. I understand you love her. We're going to do everything we possibly can to help her. Okay. I promise you. While first responders desperately tried to keep her alive, other officers investigated what led to the shooting. Allegedly, Amber was just standing outside the home of her friend Puriio Brown and she was shot by a random driver passing by. So, tell me what happened. Somebody needs to tell me what happened. Maybe you don't remember. Does somebody pass by? Go. Okay. Who else is here? Is it just you guys? Check the pulse. I just did. It was there. Where is she shot? That's what I'm trying to Maybe the front of the face. I don't know. Walking while she got shot. Can you show me on the street where it was? Supposedly, it's a driveby that happened near the road. As part of their investigation, the cops had to find evidence of the driveby shooting. Normally, this involves searching for shell casings and also there might be tire tracks left along the road. Typically, driveby shootings are associated with gang activity and not ordinary teenage girls. So, investigators had some doubts about the story. I'm looking for a casing too down there. I haven't seen anything yet. They said it happened down here on the street. That's why when I'm looking. Hey Siri. Okay, Google. Call chief. Sure. Calling chief. I'm not sure if it was down here. He said it seemed like they carried her up here, but this was closed. So, I'm guessing they carried. Moments later, Amber tragically passed away. And this officially turned the area into a scene. Suddenly, the priority shifted from saving Amber's life to preserving all the evidence inside and outside the house. We got to shut it shut it down, clear the scene. Um, get some tape and start taping everything off. Tape everything off. Put the unit in the road. I want to block off whatever we can. Was she inside? We drove her in here to get tissue from from the front door. Huh? From the front door. Okay. But she didn't get no blood cuz Well, I grabbed a carpet and we kind of like wrapped her in it. Okay. Uh, who are you on the phone with? My mom. Can you show me where you get got her from, please? The road. Yeah. Like where? On the way to my dad. Okay. I'm just trying to figure out where she was at so I can secure the scene in that area. It's right there by that dumpster, you know, by the red house. Wait. Oh, down the road further. Like just right there by that red house. Mhm. Right there. So, you carried her all the way over here? Well, my friend came knocking on the door and said someone shot. After failing to find any evidence of a driveby shooting, police then questioned Amber's friends, who were inside the house with her when she was shot. Her friend's recollection of what happened was entirely different, and they had some very damning statements about 14-year-old Perfio Brown. We were all chilling, having a good old time, and we just like went to the backyard and like we're done with the goats and we ended up going to the front and we ended up going back into his house and then next thing you know, he pulls out I think it's a revolver, the one that has like a spinning barrel. Okay. He pulls out one of those. It was a handgun. Yeah. Okay. Who does? And then he ends up pointing it at her and she went to Give me Give me one second. Okay. Pulled out a a 22. Was it a 22? What kind of revolver? Do you know? I don't know. You just know that. You just know that it was a revolver handgun, right? Yeah. I know one of those spin. Got you. Okay. and he points it at her and she wants to go like like take it away from her face, right? All of a sudden, you just hear a boom. I look and I see her fall to the ground and I see you know she starts to bleed. So he shot her in the face with with the handgun. Yeah. Where where where were you guys when he shot her with a handgun? Um we I think uh the kitchen. You guys were inside the house when it happened? Yeah. With this new information, the cops now investigated a possible cover up. The spot where the girl was supposedly shot should have contained a pool of blood and also she would have been dragged from the house and out near the road where she was found. Inside the house, there would likely be a gun containing Perfio's fingerprints. Um, at what point did somebody start cleaning up blood? Oh. Um, I think I really didn't see him do it all that much. But may I say something? Is it okay if I speak to him here? Tell him what he wanted you to help them do. He wanted he asked to help him carry her to the roadside. when I forgot about that, but um when like he was like over there when he said he was going to kill himself, he kept asking me or like and like uh to get her to the road to say like somebody drove by and shot her like a drive by. There was a story of a vehicle driving by. Oh yeah, he he made that story up whenever uh he shot her and took her outside when How what did he tell you about that? He tried to make up the story that the driveby happened like right like next to that dumpster in front of his like on the road. Try to say the driveby happened right there and that her brother went to his house freaking out about it and they ended up dragging her over there. Having spoken to some of the witnesses, the shooting could have been accidental. Nonetheless, covering this up was a highly serious crime. Soon, the girl's parents arrived on scene and the cops had to break the devastating news to them. I understand, sir. Can you talk to me for just a couple minutes? Sorry. Um, the EMS just pronounced her deceased. Oh my god. He's gone, man. She's gone. What? She's gone. No. Can I please go see? Yes. I'll have one of my guys meet you. I'm trying to stay out here to block this off. Yeah, I'm fine. I'm fine. I'm fine. 404 406. You have the father walking in now. He's got carpenter knee pads on and blue t-shirt and a baseball cap. I'm sorry, sir. My my condolences. I I'm honestly I'm going to do my damnest to figure out what happened. I I I'm sorry. I I don't know, but my son called me a Oh, God. I know. I can't be. Police then spoke to the suspect's father, William, whose home, of course, had now become a crime scene. He didn't witness the crime, but he did believe his son's version of events. Nonetheless, he allowed the police to search and collect evidence from his home. You didn't find anybody anywhere else? No, I was out there the looking for a casing, looking for blood. The only thing I found are like footprints and stuff like that. And that yours? Yeah, that's mine. All right. What the Can't find anything. All right. Well, I'll go hang out outside and let you do your thing. Yeah. Yeah, I'm just going to chase cuz we got to we have the sheets and stuff out. That's why we had the gates closed. So, we got to lock up everything. Fair enough. So, they don't go take off on us. All right. I know it sucks, but just don't clean that for me. I'm having state police come. So, we're going to do the whole 9 yards, just so you know. Okay. The moose heads hanging on the wall indicate that William was a proud gun owner. But since his son was able to gain access to his guns, he was also an irresponsible one. The cops had to check if any of the guns had the teen's fingerprints on them. Orilio, it's officer Mata with state police, bro. Come on out. Come on, man. He's not talking. Nobody sit over here, bro. He's not sitting over here. Oh, it's your boy. We Yeah, it's my boy. We talked to an attorney. Any question? Anything can be done. Okay. We're just trying to make sure. Is Is this the scene where it happened? It is. Well, she's The body's in the back. There's no scene. There's nothing in here. Okay. I need you guys to step on out. Brown. Come on. We can No. Need you guys to step on out. You have a warrant. There's going to be a warrant. We have detectives on the way. We need you guys to step on out now. We've tried cooperating. These guys have already let people go that we're here. So, what's the issue? There's an issue because why are we supposed to sit here? You live here? Yeah, I live here. This is my home. Okay. Are there any neighbors that we can talk to where you can hang out? No. By then, Williams no longer allowed the cops to go inside his home and only spoke to them outside, being very careful with what he said. Unfortunately for him, a new law was just enacted in New Mexico that makes it a criminal offense if you fail to store your weapons safely. Would you be uh here to give us a statement? I wasn't even home. Okay. Did you just get here after? Yeah. I was at work when my son called me about it. Did your son tell you anything? Anything like that? He just said that there was a girl that was shot and he didn't know what to do. Can you say who shot the girl? He said a black SUV. At that time, the cops were unable to arrest Perfio. They did have some eyewitness testimony that he committed the crime, but the cops couldn't be sure how trustworthy the witnesses were. So instead, they detained the young man for investigation. Where are you taking him? To a unit. What unit? Well, did you bring the unit to the house? No. For what? For what? That's all. I think it's pretty. Well, that But what? He didn't do nothing. Yes, he's detained. I didn't see anything. He's being detained with us. That's that's it. It's going to be in the end of it. Okay. He's not leaving. They'll go. You guys can't bring him to the house, the unit to the house, cuz it's a crime scene. I can't I can't let anyone in. So, that's the other thing. What How long is this going to take? As long as it takes. I can't give you an answer cuz I know, but what are you How long is this going to take? Cuz you know, we don't I just got to hold on to you. Okay. We don't have another place to go. You got better. I mean, I You appreciate that there's a girl on your porch, right? Yeah. Yeah, I don't have an option either. So, you know where to go, but I don't have an option. For Fiio Brown went on trial for Amber's murder, and it eventually ended with a hung jury. Afterward, he accepted a plea deal where he plead guilty to tampering with evidence. He did not, however, plead guilty to the murder. He was sentenced to one-year probation. William Brown, the father, was found not guilty for his charge. On November 13th, 2023, police responded to a domestic violence incident where 16-year-old Colin Griffith was accused of beating up his mother. When they arrived on scene, Colin began to explain his side of the story. I got off the phone with Brent. We sat down and we ate and she started talking to me about how a bunch of really bad. And then when I got up and was like, "You you can't just do that." And she was telling me to shut up. She hit me in the face and then I re I like reacted like this. She grabbed onto me. I hit her in the stomach and then uh I I'm a wrestler. It was just reactive. Grabbed her. She got to the ground. I grabbed the phone. I started recording on my left. So she she hit you in the face. Yeah. But we've been through this. You called wrenches cuz you know you kind of messed up, right? No, it it's cuz I I didn't know who else to call and I knew that and I wanted to make sure he knew. First off, this incident was especially concerning as Colin had been in court earlier that year for allegedly murdering his father, who at that time he'd been living with. The charges were dropped because the court couldn't disprove Colin's claim of self-defense. After that, he moved in with his mother, who shared some very troubling information with police. Katherine A. Griffith, right? And then uh 9485. Yes. Okay. So, I heard EMS is coming to check out your hand. Okay. Um, let me right here cuz he kicked me. Okay. Okay. Hey, can I see your hand? Okay. He kicked the phone out of my hand as I was trying to record it. I was on the ground. Hurts. I mean, you can see how swollen my knuckles are. It's okay. He literally like stomped on my hand to get the phone back to him. Can you see the inside of your hand? All right. Do you have any pain to your wrist at all or is it just right here in the top of your hand? No, it stopped. Yeah. From here till about here. Okay. When did that happen? Um when he attacks me like for like was it like a couple minutes ago or whatever? Uh like in the past 20 30 minutes and then he takes deer. I have like some witness. This argument between mother and son was not an isolated incident. Whenever Colin got too angry with his mother, he'd be then sent off to live with his grandmother who later informed police about his mental health issues and the events leading up to the incident at his mother's. Colin did not want to come back home. Okay. And I said, "You don't have a choice. You have to go back home." And he said, "No, I want foster care." And even the corporal was saying, "Foster care isn't going to be good for you. You don't have issues. You have to work on that." So, um, we got here. She And then she said, "Agreed. She's going to lay the law down. You know, that she is the parent. She is doing what she thinks is best for him. Mhm. that he's not going to have his cellular phone. He's not going to have access cuz he's like talking to some person on the online that we don't even know who this person is. Okay. And that she said, "I don't want you ever calling me um a psychopathic narcissist anymore." And he goes, "No, I didn't." He goes, "No, I heard you say that." So, he had said that in the past. and she said, "Let me lay this out for you because the only thing I think you really care about is money. So, anytime there's an infraction, I'm going to take that from you and it'll add up." The grandmother played a crucial role being a mediator between Colin and his mother, and she was also one of the few authority figures who he would genuinely listen to. As a result, she was allowed to speak to him from outside the patrol car. Got to get your anger out of control. Okay? I'm saying prayers to you all the time, Tom. What does that feel? No, I'm not. I think my anger is gone. Someone What? I can't hear you. What? You think your anger's gone? Yes. Some of the That didn't happen, though. I was there. I saw it. I saw you stand up. I had to sit down and you hurt me. And you went after the phone. And the next thing I know, she's on the floor and I'm trying to get in between Ron and I'm trying to call Renith. No, no, she me on the ground. I think either and then I shot it down. I didn't see that, Colin. I really didn't. All I saw was you on the ground or her on the ground and me by and you guys fighting for the farm. Colin was taken to jail and was released the next day. With Colin being back home, authorities conducted a welfare check to see if he'd reconciled with his mother. Despite witnessing his mother's injuries a few nights earlier, the man continued to insist she had attacked him. I don't want to hurt anyone, let alone even despite this happening, but I'm not going to take what I consider abuse when someone's attacking me. How was she attacking you? What? When she when she attacked me? when she threw a punch at me and grabbed on me. I grabbed onto her back. I got her off of me. She hit the ground and then I fled and called Rentus and then he sent someone out. He called who? Rent. Detective Rent. Okay. Did you make any statements saying that you were going to kill? No. If you got in a car with her. I'm trying to figure out why we would have a corporal at the jail that took you out that that dropped you off your mom and telling us that you said don't put me in the car with her. I'm going to kill her. Yeah. Um, was that said? I did not say I was going to kill her. I did not say I I don't know why he sent me back here. I asked him not to, but he said he didn't like my attitude and that I had to just walk and he sent me back. But his words are Did you tell them at the jail that you were going to kill me? Did you say you were going to hurt me? I said I was worried about Okay. I heard you say you were worried what was going to happen. Colin was placed under the Baker Act, which provides involuntary psychiatric care. Over the following months, photos on social media suggested that between the two of them, they'd finally patch things up. On September 8th, 2024, the Pulk County Sheriff's Office announced that Colin's mother had been [Music] murdered. Mom drives up here to Abundale from Charlotte County. She arrives at 4:00. At about 4:30, witnesses and neighbors see Colin and mom arguing outside and Colin grabs his mo mother mother by the hair and drags her into the house. Just about 2 hours later, that's when we receive a 911 call where Colin said, "I've had a very, very long fight with mom and she fell on a knife and she's bleeding from the neck." When you look at this, you see a kid. When I look at him, I see a psychopath. In February 2025, Colin Griffith was found not guilty of killing his mother after once again claiming self-defense. On the 8th of December 2021, police responded to a domestic violence incident involving a son attacking his mother with a knife. They told the beach police. They told the beach police. They told the beach police. Show me your hands. Come here. His bedroom is right there. Okay. Ahead. Right ahead of us. Who's in here? Where are you now? Where are you, ma'am? It's all good. Where are you? All good. It's not all good. Walk out here now. Come out to us. I will. Is he in there? It's only my son. I know. Where is he? You remember me? Yes. Where is he? He's in the back of the Who else is in the house? Just me and him. All right. Walk out here and the dogs. Walk out here. Go to the Go to the road. Go to the road. We don't need to go in. He's the only one in there. Yeah, he's fine. What's his name? Nicholas. Come on. Walk out here. Here. Watch that door. Someone go to the back. We don't need to go in. Let's go. Come on. Okay. Come on. Firearms or nothing, guys. Please don't hurt them. Here. Come on. You know, you can roll you back in. Come on. Come to the road. The cops were already familiar with the family and suspected what was happening. Once again, because it's usually a loved one, it's often very difficult for domestic violence victims to separate from their abuser. That's why this mother with a mentally disturbed son with nowhere else to live seem to be struggling with the thought of sending her son off to jail. Why do you do this? You know, I don't know. Is it because of the video games again? No, it's just because you know what? When Ma'am, come on. You're stabbed in the head. Come on. First of all, I have been drinking. I don't care if you've been drinking. You know what? Come on, fam. This isn't funny. The last time I was here, we were doing this. Come on. Where's your husband? My husband's at work. Okay, we'll call him. Are you still able to walk over here? I'm fine. You're not fine, man. This isn't You're not fine. I know. I know. Why do I keep? Because he's my kid. That's fine. I know that. You know what? Please don't What's his first name again? Please don't kill him. What's his first name? Nicholas. Nicholas. He has issues 66 central. The woman had lots of excuses for her son Nicholas and because she had been drinking a bit, she tried to make it sound like she was partly responsible for the incident. Meanwhile, inside the house, Nicholas was getting ready to escape. Nicholas, come to the front door with your hands up. Running out the back. Running out the back. Show me your hands. 1012. I didn't do anything to her. I promise you she's drunk. She's been drunk all day. You can ask my aunt. You can ask my dad. Then why you running from us? She didn't do nothing. Why you running? Hold on. Hold on. Slow down. I got it. Oh, listen to You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say maybe evidence against you. You have the right to talk to an attorney. These rights of mine are you willing to talk to us? Yes, sir. No, sir. Okay. All I No, I said yes sir. Yes, sir. All I have to say is she was drunk and she fell and she drunk all day and I helped her and then she got up and blamed it on me. And you can ask my all, you can ask my dad. She's been antagonizing me all day. Abusers like this always find ways to claim their innocence. Nicholas desperately wanted to speak to his mother so he could manipulate her once again. His first move was to talk about her drinking problem to discredit the woman once again. And he also made up excuses as to why the woman was physically injured. You all right, man? You ain't hurt or anything? Dude, I I didn't even do anything to her, bro. She fell. She was And then I helped her get up and she called the police on me, bro. All right, take a deep breath. All right, man. I need to talk to her because she she knows I would never touch her or anything. All right, man. Just hang tight, officer. She knows I would never touch her. She's drunk. She's been drunk all day. My My dad, my brother, uh my aunt has has all been on her case all day because she's been she's been because I she she called the police. Like you've been drinking, too? I I had literally one beer, sir. I'm I'm not drunk. She's been drinking all day, but but listen, officer, because because I she she fell into a dog dish when she was drunk and I helped her up and then and then she got on the phone with the police when I walked into her room. So, I already knew you guys were on her on my way, and I I knew I couldn't say anything about it. This horrific crime was defended by the mother, who was still driven by her maternal instinct to protect her son. While the remaining footage from the rest of the conversation was redacted by police, we still have clearly recorded audio. He didn't beat me up. Okay, I'll tell you that. Okay, he didn't beat you up. So, he just pushed me and shoved me out of his face. Okay. And then what? And then I hit the corner of the bar. And I did have a couple of glass of wine. Okay. Okay. So, I'm not going to sit there. So, there should be there should be nothing broken on the floor. No. Nothing at all. No. Are you sure? I mean, go look. I did go look. That's why I'm still talking to you and asking you. Um, he has issues. I know he does, but you can't protect him for everything because, you know, because I'm I'm going to call you. I'm going to call his dad and you know, dad's going to give me He doesn't hit me. He doesn't hurt me. He doesn't hurt. I didn't say he physically hit you, but he hit you in the head with something. And I need you to tell me what happened. No, he didn't. If he did, I would tell you. I swear to God. In Florida for domestic violence acts, there's a policy of prosecution, meaning police can proceed with a case even if the victim does not want to press charges. So, while his mother changed her story, Nicholas here was still in a lot of trouble. So, why did you tell me when you first saw me that he hit me? But be good to him. Cuz you know what? What would you do if it was But how many how exactly how many times you want to protect him? Well, what did I do? You know, huh? He's 24 years old. Didn't hit me in the head. He really didn't because when it was happening, you want to What do you do? Can we Can we take Can we take photo? What you do? Well, he's 24 years old. He's not He's not 12 years old still. When he was It would have cuz we could have helped him then. But he doesn't want help. You know what? Neither. He wants to sit in his room. He wants to run from California's warrant. I know, but his father does and you do. I know he's still your kid, but we can't help him unless you help us help him. Get him the box of candy. Yeah. And let them ask you questions. You heard what they said on T. No. They said mom's at the hospital made a sworn statement. Said that he didn't do anything to her that she slipped and fell, hit her head on the table. Who was behind here? It was Wagner because when she first came out, she said he didn't mean to. Well, I mean, I was Oh, you They're pulling the I'll pull my accent up. You pull your I'm pretty sure that's what she said. He didn't mean to. We don't know what he Oh, I know. So, hey, we found his phone right by the trailer. They want to write for that. They can, but uh we'll just tag that phone and uh cigarettes. Well, we to cigarettes unless there's a drug. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. You wrote Miranda? Yeah, I wrote a Miranda. He the only thing he admitted to is running as far as that he said that she slipped and fell and hit her head, but he said he went out to the trailer as soon as she called. So you got RA. Yeah. I think he was thinking she's got an unexpable warrant. I think he was thinking he's going for the warrant. Nope. Cuz when we were here before, he had that same warrant. Oh, yeah. Out of It's out of California. Yeah. Nicholas admitted to having two beers before police arrived. However, because of his deeply erratic behavior, the cops are also suspicious about narcotics. So, before being taken to jail, they searched him one last time, preventing any further charges. Listen, based on the way you're acting right now and everything else, I'm not sure if you have dope or not. They just charge me with that, bro. I didn't do anything. I love listen. The based on the way you're acting and everything else that happened here tonight and your story about throwing up makes me concerned that you may have some some narcotics on you that you don't need to have cuz if you go out to the jail, it's another charge if you got drugs on you. And they will do a strip search out there. So, if we find it here, it ends here. But if it goes out to the jail, it's going to be a whole another heap of problems. You got any at all? No. Face the wall. Hands on the wall. I'm going to charge you with that. Bro, I didn't do anything to her, bro. She knows I didn't do anything to her. She does this all the time. She always gets drunk and does this kind of stuff, man. All right, turn around. Face me. Okay, there's nothing in there, right? No, bro. You already checked me four times. I didn't check you at all. Okay. All right. I'm not going to go in there all the way. Pull it up. If they find it in the jail, they find it in the jail. Despite the many efforts his mother put in to cover up his crimes, he was still charged with aggravated battery and resisting without violence. On April 28th, 2023, police officers received a call from a woman regarding domestic violence. When the officers arrived, they found the woman outside ready to explain what happened. So, what's going on tonight? I come along. He's screaming and yelling at me. I've never had to call the police cuz he's screaming and yelling at me. He want to come out of the bathroom. This time he goes, "I'm going to you." And then he threw the hammer at me. So somebody needs to arrest him because I'm scared. He's choked me in the past and I passed out. Okay. How does he have any? He's on drugs. He's on drugs. Okay. He probably has no drugs and he's coming down or something. And he's What drugs does he normally take? I don't know if he's shooting up. I don't know what he's doing. If you look in my living room, you'll see he's on drugs. He like everything's uptight. Everything's broken. Okay. She's my witness. She heard him say he's going to murder me and he she seen him tham at me. Oh, I'm sorry. Okay. Would you like to write that in a statement for me? I want arrested out of my house. You heard everything, too? Yes. Okay. Would you write a statement about what happened to All right. The woman appeared frightened, but thankfully she was not seriously injured. Now, the cops had to confront her son, but since she claimed he was on, they anticipated the man would be unpredictable and aggressive. They first needed to question him and find out his side of the story. Hello, ma'am. Can you come out here for me for a second? Thank you. I'm I'm going to come out later even though I feel you guys are going to arrest me. Can you just come out here and talk to me so I can figure out what's going on? If you can just put some shoes on, a shirt on, and some pants, and then come out here and talk to me really quick. Well, can you explain? I don't I don't know. I don't know you. Can you just come out here and talk to me? Are you coming right now? I'm trying to make have my charger. Your charger? Well, if you come out here right now and then like it'll be like a few few minutes. You talk to me and you can go back in and you find your charger. You said what? You said you were coming out here. Why are you lying to me? I didn't say Well, do you need me to come in there to help you find your charger? 707 that don't throw no hammer. I ain't th Can you come out here and just talk to me? Come here. I'll ain't going to lie on me no more. I promise you that. I promise you that. The suspect who was said to be addicted to methamphetamine seemed to be exhibiting symptoms of psychosis. And this was evident due to his highly disorganized thinking and speech. This state of mind can lead to aggressive behavior and was likely a factor in the attacks on his mother. Need help with the door? Can I just jump out the window? You want to come out the window? You can come out the window if you want to come out the window. It It sounds crazy, but if you're locked in there, I don't want you to kick your door down for nothing. I just need to talk to you. might need to. Well, I'm here cuz I heard some allegations and if I can get your statement and your side of the story, I can clear everything up. Right now, I just have one side of the story. So, I'm trying to hear your side of the story. But you staying in the house is not going to help me get your side of the story. Yeah. Well, it matters to me cuz I I have to do the report on it. the man might be experiencing withdrawal symptoms which are similar to psychosis. When facing the suspect, the officer adopted a non-threatening and non- accusatory demeanor. She did this because another symptom of addiction is paranoia. However, trying to calm the man down using this tactic did not seem to work. What? Hey, Gregory, where's my mom at? That my mom over here. I bet I going through that line. I didn't do a Hey, Gregory. I've been I've been my entire life. If I did anything like that, I would not be at the second any crime around this. You want to come out here? I want to come out, ma'am. Yes. I have like a My mom told me when I answered the phone that she called the cops and said that I was going to her and I threw a hammer at her. She lying like a What? Listen, I I really I I feel like she probably be she's lying, too. But I really need your statement. I'm here for your statement. Your side. That's That's it. And I can leave soon as soon as I hear your side of the story. The cops continue to persuade the suspect, Gregory, to voluntarily speak to them outside. Because his mother was already safe outside, the situation wasn't an emergency, and they could afford to take their time. Being unwilling to leave the house, the cops then offered to pass him the statement paper through the window. Hey, buddy. Are you able to open that? You guys trust me, right? I'm not doing that stupid. I get like Oh, man. I wish I would like to stop. It ain't nothing like that. Yeah. But yeah, we just got to talk to you out here and then have you write that statement for us and that's it, buddy. I'm not going inside your house. I'm just talking to you right here outside your porch. And then we have a table right here. My partner just went to go get a piece of paper. Your table right here by the window. So, wherever your your light switch is at, we can turn that light switch on for and then we can just write the statement out. You said you said what? Can you open it up for me? Yes, sir. Okay. Thank you. I was singing crazy like my mom. She li Uhhuh. did not go down. It didn't happen like that. And not at all. All right. So, what I need you to do is I need you to put that on paper. Can you put that on paper? Despite their best efforts, the man refused to even open the window for them. Furthermore, his state of mind meant that trying to reason with the man wasn't worthwhile. And once the officers realized that he might be trying to escape, they decided to finally break in and apprehend him. He's about to take him to get some water. Sit on. Yeah, I can see him. Hey, Gregory. Gregory. I can't [ __ ] up. You were at the pet several times. I got it. All right. I got everything already. I got domestic. Marcies and everything. Everybody. How many other people in here? It was another lady that seen it happens. Okay. God bless you. Uhhuh. I went with my mom. All the she just probe. I just got the um Oh man, are you serious? Gregory was captured, but once they got him in the squad car, he was incredibly erratic. So once again, the female officer's job was to calm him down, thereby deescalating things. This time, she tried to distract the man with something else. RIP my strong as I didn't do that, man. I didn't throw no at her, man. I swear. Hey, Gregory. Hey, Gregory. You like music? My mom. You hear me? I hear you. I swear. I did not throw no crazy, man. That's up. I don't like ugly. What's wrong with you? Well, um, you like music? What type of music you like to listen to? I put it on. Oh, man. They got me. I'll put it on for you. You Wait, my name. All right, go ahead. Run that up. I swear that mother will change it up. I promise you. More [ __ ] bodies before I get out there. That's it. Hey, what type of music you like, man? Hey, I got them all right here. Due to his ongoing volatile behavior in the back of the cruiser, he had to be fully strapped in. He then claimed they were all taking his mom's side because she was a woman. Despite being a full-g grown man, he was now blaming his behavior on how his mother raised him. Well, you did say you were very high. If I would have thrown a hamburger, I would not have missed. I have stupid from baseball and football and all like golfing and everything. What about this situation makes you think she's happy? I promise you. Maybe that she hopes that you might find help through this system. That might make her happy. Well, she'd be happy that she would have to deal with you like Well, when I first got there, if that's how you were behaving with your mom, I wouldn't want to deal with you either. Yeah, you private. I do. I have to respect you. None of that. Like that. Hell no. Cuz you guys, you and your husband, whoever you raised with, y'all handle that when they were real little. They are all blessings. I will say, but I unfortunately I wasn't around when they were little. They're my stepchildren. And after that little heartto-heart, they charged the man with aggravated assault and resisting without violence. On July 13th, 2024, police responded to a stolen vehicle report. When they located the car, they attempted a traffic stop, but the driver stepped on the gas, leading officers on a high-speed chase. Finally, things ended when they crashed into another vehicle. When officers arrived on scene, there was just one passenger there, and everyone else had fled from the stolen car. [Music] Okay. Hands up. Hands up. Stand up. Okay. Come on. I can't move. Okay. No, I can't. Boy, hurry. We need to move you away from the car. I can't. We need to move you away from the car. I can't move. Is that it? Oh, guys, please. My phone's in there. I need it. Back up. Back up. [Music] Leave the fire. Look. Get behind this wall, guys. I know it's broken. I can't walk on it. Come on. Was anybody else in your car? I don't know. What do you mean you don't know? I can't think. Please, please. Was anyone else in the car? I can't remember. Our suspect occupant doesn't know if anybody else is here. The suspect admitted she was 14 years old. She gave very few details about the other individuals as they were all on the run. The cops then spoke to the car's owner who gave them more information about the other occupants. Well, they stole my car yesterday and I Oh, you were the first. Okay. Out of Kent. Okay. This is your car, ma'am. Yeah, that's my car. The one over there. Okay. Did you happen to see how many people were in the car? Uh, when I saw it was three persons. You saw three people? Yeah, I saw three people. It was a I think it was a the apartments where they parked once. Get off there. Okay. But when when you were following us or when one of my partners was falling, you were fighting. Were there still three in the car? It was three in the car and then one get off on those apartment. No, I'm talking about now. It was two. Two. Two. Right before this crash. Yes, it was two. And it was I think I saw Alejandro Moreno. Yeah. I think the one who was driving it was like a Africanamean. Okay. So, did you have So, you're confident 100% sure you saw two people in that car before this in like I'm not talking about he dropped off two people. He dropped off one. He dropped off one. Okay. And then two. It was one behind and it was two in front. Police then got another lead when a nearby resident spotted a 16-year-old who was hiding in their yard. The young man was described as African-Amean and by the time the officers got there, he had already fled again. I understand about your car. That sucks that that's what happened. You know what? The priority is right now on him right now. Yeah, I understand that. I feel bad. I get help. Yeah, they're coming. They're working on the person in the car you guys ran into first. Hey, that guy is that guy alive? I don't know. I don't know, ma'am. Right now, we're investigating all this. Okay, don't worry about it. I want to hear what happened from your side of the story and like see what was happening. Okay. for the three people. Can you describe who was the driver? I think I think what I see the driver looks like Africanamean. Okay. And I didn't see the other two. Africanamean, male, female, yeah. Okay. Can you describe more about him? Like his hair is do you see any piercings? Any like facial hair? Anything? I don't remember. I was focused on my car. You focus. You just saw him and I was looking on the plates on my car to make sure it was my car. Okay. And then you saw another person, a passenger, but you don't you don't know. I don't know. And I saw one. As for the real victim here, the man whose car was crashed into, he was taken to the hospital and was declared to be brain dead. Later, his family made the difficult decision to remove the man from life support. Thankfully, the driver of the stolen vehicle was later identified and taken into custody. Another passenger was also identified and the cops paid him a visit one month later. Buddy. Buddy. Sorry. Sorry about that. It's okay. Yeah. How you good? I'm ready camp police. Yes. Hi. Are you mom? I am. What's up? Hi baby police. Just so you know my body camera's on. So okay. I'm here to talk. Probably has to do with his injury potentially, but a little incident he was involved in in July. What happened in a car crash perhaps? Sure. Yeah. Can you actually Can you go in the house, please? What? Okay. Sorry. Do you know how he got his arm injured? I have no idea how he got his arm injured. Okay. So, in July 12th, there was a crash. You may have seen it on the news, where one of his friends was driving and they hit and killed somebody. There were four other people in the car. His wallet is in that car and close the door, please. I'm confused. I want to listen. No, I I want you to close the door. Okay. Sorry. Okay. Um, his wallet was in the car. Okay. Is a stolen car. So, just so we're straight up 100% nothing for you to stress and worry about. I'm not looking at him as a suspect in any way, shape, or form. Strictly just a witness. It's the same thing we're talking about with all the other kids that were in the car. Okay. Um, you know, Treyu or Trey, his friend? I have no idea. Okay. But he he's a guy who's chronically been stealing cars. The cops discovered that in total there were three passengers inside the car. The son's broken wrist and the wallet he left in the car provided very clear evidence of his involvement. But that's not what his mother heard as she got a totally different version of events. His hand was broken on July 13th. So the the the crash happened early morning, just after midnight July 15th. And at like about 2:00 in the morning, he came running in my room. Bang. He punched the wall. Yeah. I did not believe him. So, he's very, very lucky that it's just that because I've already downloaded the the car and everything. They were doing 104 milesPH when they hit the other guy. Thank you. You have no idea. Okay, I am so upset right now because you have no clue how many times I have spoken to my children about how stupid, dumb decisions like this could ruin and effect. Dude, you're going to get in so much trouble if you don't stay inside till mom's ready for you. Okay. The rest of their lives. Yeah, it's And this could literally be a charge. Well, actually, just again, so we're all on the same page, it was filed as vehicular homicide, two counts of assault, potentially three because he's injured from that collision. The other two are victims as well, so he's potentially another victim. Um, so this would be potentially three counts of assault, the eluding, but the prosecutors actually upgraded it to murder and and they charging his friends. Yes. Because seconddegree murder does not necessarily require proof of intent, prosecutors might be able to upgrade the charge to murder. And if the suspect committed another felony, there can also be an enhancement. In this case, vehicle theft is a felony. And as far as the passengers go, there's a chance they also could be found to be complicit. So, were you in the car? The stolen car? Yes, sir. Okay. Where did you get picked up? Um, over there. Over there. Right down the road by the chemical apartments or No, no, no. Right down the road. Literally right down at the entrance of the um So like 108 and 224. No, at the entrance of this neighborhood, right? That's 108. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. What kind of car were you picked up in? Uh I don't know the car. Like I don't describe it for me. Gray. Okay. Like uh four. Okay. Um you don't know what brand or anything like that? No, sir. Do you know what day this was? Uh what day did you say? Well, the crash happened on the early morning of the 13th, so July July 13th. So, I would imagine you probably got picked up in the afternoon or evening of the July 12th if we're talking about the same time. Uh, no, July 13th is when I did. So, it was in the morning that the accident happened like 12. It happened just it just happened just after midnight, which is the 13th. So, on the 12 evening of the 12th is when most people said they got picnic. Seems like this teenager had fallen in with the wrong crowd, but he still had a chance to turn things around. The officer talked to him at length, mentioning the consequences of his actions, and he advised the kid what he can do about it now. And I don't know if mom told you, but that driver that you guys hit died. Okay. And Trey has now been charged as an adult with murder. So, I literally just told him he could be going to jail for the rest of his life just by being in that car. Do you understand me? Do you understand me? And even if that part doesn't stick, you could be dead. Yeah, I know. I don't honestly I got out of that car and I didn't know how I only broke a hand. I I thought I was literally I thought I was going to die. I thought I was Unfortunately, the person who had nothing to do with AMS, right? So, if it's okay with mom, what I would like to do is get a medical release so I can first figure out where you went to get the treatment so that I can get a copy of the medical Valley Center. Valley Medical. We went to Valley Medical Urgent Care and then we went to Prolion Orthopedics at Valley to have it casted. Okay. But initially I can sign it. Whatever. Well, unfortunately I'll have you like initially but unfortunately once they're over 13, they won't accept it unless they sign it. Okay. So, I'll go grab that form if that's okay. And are you willing to be a victim and witness for this case? Uh, sure. Cuz I assume you don't want to be a suspect, right? I don't. The driver was charged with seconddegree murder, vehicular homicide, felony hit and run, two counts of vehicular assault, attempting to elude a police vehicle, and possession of a stolen vehicle. And as for his bail, it was set at half a million dollars. The passenger, who the officer just visited, was lucky to both be alive and to remain only a witness. The parents in all these videos learned the hard way that there's only so much you can do for your child, and ultimately they'll have to carve out their own destiny. Thankfully, the cops were there and they were safely prevented from causing any further harm to their futures.
