amount of flies in this room in this window is makes you think there's a dead body in this house day by day police work can be one of the most challenging jobs out there but for many in law enforcement it's also the most rewarding in today's episode we'll see lots of good cops being awesome as they perform heartwarming acts of kindness in their communities yeah I got the child in the parking lot check Ora's house there was a bunch of people outside buddy are you okay okay what's your name you don't know your [Music] name get this it's okay let me get you out of the huge savings with my find your my personality and trans freeas andies dets [Music] at.com you're okay you want to get out you want to stay in your car seat I'm a police officer I'm here to help you buddy it's okay on March 1st 2024 officers came across a parked vehicle in akan Ohio that was part of an amber alert earlier that day when they opened up the 2017 Dodge pickup the 2-year-old boy who been abducted during the theft of the vehicle was still inside there I'm going to take you out okay it's okay let's get you out of here it's okay your jamm's wet it's okay it's okay it's okay you got some books here you like you like dinos I like the my my little boy likes dinos sh sh sh my it's okay Budd here I'm gonna lower this tailgate you can we can just sit right here okay you probably you probably been sitting in the all right thanks all right how old are you no you like stick I know I'm going to we're going to get you your daddy do do you like do you like do you like stickers I'll get you a sticker okay was that you just keep saying my daddy initially the child who'd been abandoned by the car thief in a deserted lot was remarkably calm considering the circumstances fortunately the cop who found the child had a young boy of his own so he knew how to keep the out calm while his fellow officers track down the parents it's okay wonder if you got any P like doctor paperwork in here or something so I know what your name is see if you got any shoes here you want some socks on your feet I got socks okay did they get where did they get them at down there at the uh somewhere 20th I think all right slow it's all right buddy I want to find your shoes so your feet aren't cold it's cold out while they were caring for the child A call came across the radio that a suspect had been tracked down and taken into custody by the US Marshals akan police Ohio State Police and the FBI for the cops with the kid though their main priority was ensuring the boy's welfare how old are you three are you two you got a jacket here I thought take credit but it was all him I'll do I I got a I got an adult hey I got an adult hoodie if you want to throw it over him [Music] Bu you're all right you're brave boy you're big Brave boy we're going to get you home to your daddy think it's going to work you're the father here just wrap it around yeah we don't want you to get cold I just uncle part-time and every now and then babysit hey thanks for your help found this guy running yeah sure you're all right it's okay the boy's repeated cries for his daddy were heartbreaking the officers on scene did everything in their power to figure the kid's name out so they could relate to him on a more personal level and keep the terrified boy from becoming even more frightened hey it was us we got the call and they they got well hold on stand by all right see BS the suspect 54-year-old Larry Spence was indicted by a Wayne County grand jury and charged with multiple Fones including kidnapping abduction and Grand Theft of a motor vehicle the 2-year-old who'd spent near near an hour alone in a stolen pickup was returned to his family unharmed thanks to a heartwarming act of kindness from a good cop on October 23rd 2023 in Palm Beach County Florida a female driver saw a 3-year-old girl running along a busy street after pulling off the main road the driver retrieved the child from traffic and placed the girl safely in her vehicle before searching for her parents when no adult or Guardian could be located the concerned citizen contacted law enforcement so what happened I'm living in Red Red Bank and and I'm in cor and the baby run run run run run run ran across the street that's my look look at me so I said that the baby cross in there so I thr my car in the and stop my car and C saw you saw her across the street yeah I I I'm in you're not in trouble I yeah I'm still in trouble how long have you been here is no no one's coming here immediately I call the police yeah maybe how long you take for coming okay hey little girl what's your name open do she speak English does she talk at all speak do you speak Spanish mommy mommy mommy what did you mommy what is your mom what is your mom mommy don't to Mama don't Mama this Good Samaritan May well have saved the little girl's life but figuring out who she was and why she was literally playing in traffic proved challenging the woman and the officers even worried did the child might have been non-verbal after she didn't reply to them in Spanish or English which is she is she pointing you know you know where you live wait where you here hold her hand hold her hand yeah hold her hand you live here that's where you live the officer thought that the girl might be able to lead them to her home but at the house they went to no one came to the door however the girl's neighbors eventually took notice and came out to help then the building's landlord arrived in a golf cart have you seen her before baby this is the back doors though right yeah oh the back there's a bicycle buch of yeah let's is that your the front door is open go around the front door front door's open n n outside front door's open the front door's open up here right yeah front door's open I don't think see looking through a rear window the deputy noticed that the front door to one of the apartments was open the officers knew there was a very good chance that this was where the little girl came from but why were there no adults searching for her you watch it for a second the front door's open over here okay come here baby all right it's your neighbor's do girl to yeah we're looking for we found her she this lady found3 no sir that's why we were knocking we didn't know she was knocking this was the door she walked up to the hello Sheriff's Office I got a feel she how much County Sheriff's Office I got to say mommy where's Mommy does she is she non-speaking no she speaks she does speak yeah but I know the parents are Spanish so but she still should speak English I'm sure but I I had a funny feeling she's been leaving here and leaving that kid by herself okay do she work no the fact that this playful little girl was not afraid to be running around the neighborhood on her own as well as her Comfort level with complete strangers just might indicate that it wasn't the first time she'd been left alone this theory was supported by the landlord and his suspicions about the mother did you stay apartment to okay is this your room has she grabbed her milk right away yeah this is our house this door was open it was open and those chairs were like against the door so I don't know if she climbed on the chair to do the she climbed on the chair probably to do this did you get the complaintant name and all the information you need for the report no I need to grab I I'll get it for you the the guy on the the thing it looks like she's land you say it looks like she leaves her here alone like this well I've been here before and I'm not going to stand and swear to it but I I know that uh her car's gone she drives she has a car she has a car and she'll and I hear the when I'm my office next door I can hear the kids in there she's there's more than one kid the other one the boy goes to school oh she don't work she does not work oh so is this so she's either sometimes she goes out and jogs but usually her cars here oh so she usually stays home she's normally here but when she leaves a lot I'm not going to swear to it but I think she leaves the kids here hey hey let go watching TV yeah so it looks like she put the thank you sir problem it looks like she put the chair to the door and then uh unbolted everything and left thank you so much for call we're going to do everything that needs to be done now from here on out yeah like I said the easy work she did the hard work she saved the life so we're good thank you so much okay after thanking this kind lady who first saw the child she then went on her way as she knows the cops are more than capable of taking care of the girl after establishing where the child lived as well as how she escaped her apartment the officers made calls to the girl's parents eventually the mother hey how you doing my name is Stephie well with the Sheriff's Office okay thank you so I'm here reference the incident with your daughter so um so before I talk to you though just because the nature of everything I have to read you your Miranda okay can just say something like like I don't want any all of this to like you know I'm like the mother to these kids okay your bad mother um I know not that I wasn't supposed to do that that and but just like a license or like my immigration process could just be like screwed over my husband works in construction and we don't make enough money for me to go out and do my thing and have her um so I stay home with them basically the little girl's mother Adriana monzo barera was anxious to tell her side of the story and even admitted that she shouldn't have left the child home alone but it didn't seem that Adriana quite grasped how much trouble she was in yet so I I want to ask you questions about everything you're telling me I know you wouldn't let me know everything you get everything off your chest and I want to talk to you and if you want to talk to me I I want to ask you questions in reference to everything going on but I have to read you read you the rights before I do okay for any question in says I'm required can I just um do you know what I'm what I'm saying yes and I'm going to ask you questions about so many things like what all this means yeah just I just have to ask this because this is a this is because of the yeah because of the the situation because of the allegations I I want to ask you questions about everything that's going on but uh I have to R this before I can do that okay and any statement can will be cour of law do you understand right by the sound of it Adriana's hoping that the cop would understand and maybe just sweep things under the rug while the cop might empathize with the mother it was still his duty to find out what happened he read Adriana Her Miranda writes and she continued incriminating herself with her admission why why you leave her alone today I I thought I could run and come back because um TV like okay let's go let's go let's go let's go turn everything off and kind of just kind of pick her up screaming and put her in the car she would she would have so she was watching TV yeah and she would have possibly gotten upset if you pul pulled away from the TV let's go would you say she needs the constant supervision yeah she's a toddler like no no admitting on camera that she knew that toddler shouldn't be left alone was the confession the deputy was looking for however it brought this big-hearted officer no joy whatsoever knowing what he had to do next cuz honest cuz honestly it pery statue is neglect if you don't have supervision over the minor and you so um is there where's Dad work where's Dad he's at a construction site and he is a felony to leave a child of attended first year okay so just based on the totality I do have to place you under rest for neglect of a child no I can't okay no no no I can't ma' ma' come here okay we're going to go with our partner we're going to wait for her we're going to try to call we got to call your husband can I call my mom I'm going to be completely we're going to let I'm try to be as transparent why would why would you do that it's my job the deputy was clearly not happy about having to arrest a young mother but Adriana's actions left him no choice the child was found alone in the streets exposed to all kinds of danger no one's ever happy about being arrested but Adriana should be thankful that somebody found her child before anything bad happened do you want him to call your mom or do you call the husband we need someone to come need I don't know what to do listen if not no we're trying to being as transparent as possible I understand what happens where are you going to take me you have to go down to Gun Club for processing okay why because you're being charged with a crime why and then after afterwards you go you'll get first appearance you'll see a judge and they'll give you probably a court date so I'm not getting out today I don't know it quicker you go down there to do the processing the quicker the process can started so you could get out got night so maybe be able to yeah hopefully later today because it's only 11:00 can I talk to one of my neighbors first I can tell them what's happening I being I'm trying to be as liberal as I can with you as give you all the courtesy as I can I'm you know I have problem with cause for money okay so I have to put you I have to put you in this car I have to put you in okay and I'm trying to be as courteous as I can so we'll make phone calls for you and everything and not make a scene because I don't want to use force on you I don't want to do anything like that Adriana's husband was finally contacted and he immediately came home to look after his daughter despite the husband's assurance that his wife was a good mother who loved her children it doesn't change the fact that Adriana left her children alone without any adult supervision she was arrested and was later charged with felony child neglect on May 3rd 2022 in jolet Illinois police responded to a call about a woman who fallen into a river and couldn't climb back out of the frigid water the Clock Was ticking on the panicked woman who had to be extracted from the river before she suc comes to hypothermia and drowning grab him put it around your body put the Rope around your body all right guys put it around her body she's not going to be able to hold on her guys hold on baby all right don't here is there a way that we can make a new so we can she's right here wrap it around your body give her more rope hold on just hold on hold on don't try to pull yourself up gra that one and grab this one grab that one too wrap it around your body put that under between your legs put on your shoulders too under your shoulders give as much leverage all right fire some here just just hold on and breathe easy breathe easy the terrified woman was exhausted and begging the cops to get her out of the water but for her part she was unable to do what she needed to do for the cops to be able to extract her from the river at that point the officers changed tactics and decided to keep the woman calm and safe until a more experienced rescue crew arrived R put your right a rope under leg under you under you had to give yourself Leverage put it underneath here you're not going to pull yourself up stop just hold on hold on hey guys she has to wrap herself with a rope that's the only way if she's not going to do she just have her hold on there the other don't pull up just hold on you're going to exhaust yourself all right just take a few deep breaths hold on the woman continued trying to climb out but the debris in the water and the freezing cold temperatures made things almost impossible despite their frustration that the victim was unable to help herself the officers on scene remained positive and supportive okay we got we got it right here hey Budd no we're not going to be able to get her up ourselves there you go it's as far as it go bring a ladder the fire rescue eventually arrived one of them didn't hesitate to put himself In Harm's Way by leaping into the water to secure the woman with ropes the fireman's flotation suit also provided a secondary Lifeline to the victim who had little strength left to keep herself above water we go you the do we got like a blanket for her when she gets [Music] up looking for a better description where you guys are at so they can come help you 200 y south of the uh McDon Street Bridge along the B 200 y before the woman was even out of the river the officers on Shore were already thinking ahead they not only made sure an ambulance and EMTs were in route but also that a blanket was waiting to keep the hypothermic victim from going into shock we we need ladder we got a light and stuff in there oh shoot hey guys let's get out of their way if you can as soon as fire rescue was on the scene the officers handed over the operation to the more experienced firemen they also made sure to look out for one another as well as the victim while the difficult rescue continued from the barge bring it out of your way let go straight down flip it over though mean like this way you okay Tyler all right all right and then I don't know how it's not that deep if you raise that up it'll probably hit the bottom here so start pulling up you want to wrap it in this okay got it hey somebody hold on the after making sure the diver in the water was good to go a ladder was lowered into the debris field all that remained was for the victim to climb out of the river and everyone's wondering if she'll have the strength to make it up to the barn after waiting through cold water for so long we got you come on up come on up we got you there we go you got ambulance one hey we'll put her in ambulance one cuz they're right there do the here we go all right we got it all right you guys got the ladder okay the incident was a close call for the victim but a sterling example of police and firemen working together to go above and beyond the call to Save a Life on November 29th 2020 in toma Wisconsin police were dispatched to a 5:00 a.m. call about smoke coming from a downtown apartment by the time the first officers arrived the Flames poured from a second floor window of a historic building where some residents were still asleep inside D roll it's full handle hey let's uh each side each side get everybody out each side each building I don't give a about your phone does anybody live in this building here yeah there's people that live next to me should I get them out what do you mean in your building there's two people that live next door to me where did my go I don't know where my flashlight went you have a flashlight the person who lived in the apartment where the fire started was standing outside in the freezing cold wearing nothing but a pair of boxers the man initially seemed more concerned with the cell phone he'd forgotten in the apartment than his neighbors and the pets he'd left behind you have a flashl here go go wow no bro bro no no we got fire get out fire get out dude my cats are in there fire get out dude you got to help me get my cats get outside fire get out get out of here fire get out the owner of the burning apartment finally remembered his cats and tried to follow the officer back into the building it might seem harsh that he was ordered back outside by the officer but it was clearly for his own good get out fire fire fire get out there's a fire get out of here get out hey get low get low get out there's a fire get get low get low get out of here fire get out where where the Cs they're here girls come on hey it's going it's going fire fire everyone out get out of get out of here how many more you got in here Happ out here come down here I'm so sorry here just come up here officer I just went to sleep and I woke up to smoke all right dude staying low to avoid the deadly smoke that was filling the hallways and staircase the officer risked his life to clear the building the fumes got so thick that it forced one officer back to the street coughing and [Music] joking is there any other people in here just me okay get out know it's bad it's bad we got to go go go negative there's possibly still people inside smoke is getting thick let see came out get out get out get down get down get low get low kids here where your dog prob we hid my bedroom I don't like yelling the woman who lived in the second apartment in the burning building wasn't moving with any sense of urgency which was really frustrating for the firefighters who are risking their lives as well she also seemed more concerned with her dogs being frightened by the officers yelling since she was about escaping this deadly fire not two minut a row there's going to be multiple Animals still left inside we had to get out too much smoke you got to get you got to back out you got to back out I believe there's two apartments we got the second apartment out let's see if there is there anyone that lives in this apart in this building I despite barely being able to breathe after running in and out of a smoke fi building the officers continued doing their jobs they not only searched for victims who need rescuing but they made sure the fire units in route knew what to expect when they arrived I'm going to run up here okay there's one up here fire get out oh fire fire get out seriously fire fire get your kids and get out there's a fire next door quick although it didn't seem like the residents in the neighboring buildings were in immediate danger there was no telling how quickly the fire would spread it turned out that people in nearby structures were in just as much Peril I don't know if two dogs in the rear apartment two cats in Fr we got uh this [Music] is there my TI Go me you're good man you're good so we don't know if everybody's on oh yeah so we got uh the front people out and the rear there's only two apartments there are chief the only thing that we know of is there's two dogs in the back got power it's not power it's just a c got it we know is two dogs in the back apartment two cats in the front apartment we're going to have to get somebody stopped and get the back blocked off you know on the back side so nobody's going through that 92 Monro do I have any County or state cars on this channel 104 we need to get uh the alleyway Behind these buildings block off so we have no traffic if you could move my squad to the South End have 33 block off the Northend by the time the fire Crews arrived the blaze was burning out of control thankfully because these awesome police officers didn't hesitate to put their lives on the line only one individual suffered from injury injuries his injuries were minor however and he was treated and released from the hospital that night unfortunately two historic buildings were lost to the fire the origin of which was never determined on January 4th 2023 in Columbus Ohio an officer spotted an elderly woman on the side of the road who seemed to be in distress there had been a previous incident in the same area with an Alzheimer's patient who was trying to walk to the local Target the officer suspected this may have been the same woman hey ma' are you okay make City Make it try to make it gr City huh are you going to the Target no dad and I want to go back there why don't I give you a ride huh I could give you a ride well would you do that sure okay why don't I I got get this what's that I got to get this I'll pick it up are you walk okay my hurt me so bad now I don't think I can if I know gu I would started out like this okay why don't we where do you live at huh where do you live at I I just down on fman road down where Ferman Ferman Road Ferman road yeah you want me to take you home or do you want me to take you to go to City I about you take me to go City what part of G City h a nursing home over mon nursing home okay tell you what I'm going to pull my car up to here so we don't have far to walk okay the woman said she was walking to Grove City to see her son who lived in a nursing home there apparently her son had terminal cancer and the woman was trying to see him again before he passed away hey were you uh here that day Matt was telling you about the woman trying to walk to Target in grave City no Matt y hear him talking about that run the other day hold on what are we doing with this one I'm going to go take her somewhere hold on no not today she doesn't I got to go someone's talking um officer do you know her or something my grandmother she's got allhe okay is that what it's going on yeah she does this every day I take her to the psychiatric hospital and I'll meet you there with her uh which Hospital Columbus Springs I can't take her there we can only take them usually to um like the major hospitals they have psychiatric wordss there MH and then they can refer them to places like cuz I'm selling her house tomorrow her house in my name I'm selling it to put her an assisted living on lock down but this is what I find every day so she's going to get killed while the officer was trying to determine if she was the same person who was walking to Target a week earlier the woman's granddaughter and husband arrived she'd wandered off this morning and they'd been out looking for her and it wasn't the first time this had happened yeah we had an officer like uh pass about a week ago telling me about she was trying to walk to Target over on string time no she's trying to get to Monteray to go see her son that's what she's saying today yeah been dying be the same woman yeah he's been dying for 2 years he ain't dying yet okay she's very feisty or if you could just keep her here for a minute my aunt's on her way and me and my aunt will take her to Columbus Springs oursel if you could just put her in your car and keep her for you yeah let me I'll I'll get her as soon as my aunt gets here she's on her way okay and we both have power of attorney over her and I'll take her out there I'm not going to take her tell her where I'm taking her but I got to do something with her okay she's going to get killed yeah let me try to get away from that road okay thank you caring for a relative with Alzheimer's is one of the most difficult situations anyone can find themselves in It's a cruel disease that not only affects the one who has it but the person's loved ones as well clearly though this woman cared for her grandmother despite her frustration was trying to keep track of her okay hold my own we're going to we're going to go to the car you yeah yeah yeah you don't need to be out walking I know that but I just want to see him one more time before he dies I only had two and I take St okay there's nothing more heartbreaking than losing a child for this poor woman who'd already Buried one of her kids worrying about losing the other while dealing with the devastating effects of Alzheimer's must have been torturous me okay gra before your back H let's try to get in here well let's try to get in this C sit down for a minute get back you I didn't yeah see you se you walking again he he come home is it your back get be better you guys pulled up here aside from dealing with Alzheimer's the woman was also suffering from excruciating back pain instead of trying to move the woman in and out of two vehicles the officers opted to put her in her granddaughter's minivan so she could be taken to a hospital hey Rod we're going to get her in that van right behind you can you pull in front of me h if I know I've been this bad sh alimer that's your family can you move I I wouldn't I wouldn't even started out if I know this bed I had the two kids one's already dead hey ma'am he's going to move if you want to pull up closer oh that's that big ice that I'm going to her ice huh that's that big ass tells me not to go nowhere you need to go somewhere okay I got I got to go to Hospital over here we're going to take you to a hospital she's going to take you to the hospital okay yeah if you don't go with her you're going with me like it'd be better if you went with her then going to ask her she's going to take me she will y we already talked about it okay okay are you hang on I D go see down before he dies he's dead I know he is she wants well I I go up where he at I'll stay I ain't got to keep walking I won't come home tonight I'll stay over there I I don't want to hurt your arm I'm I hurt your arm not going to hurt my no why your gra to put her in a front she can't get in the back the elderly woman's illness clearly created some animosity between her and her grandmother but she was simply trying to keep her grandmother safe unfortunately her condition caused her to forget something she just visited her son in the nursing home the day before did did I see you before last week you saw another one of my uh officer friends watch yourself oh you me where you want me to go to this front seat right here oh God my backs are killing me we're almost there oh okay once we're there they can probably get you a wheelchair if I if I if I know i' been this bed I wouldn't start it out I know I wouldn't have can I can I can I oh you going oh oh you going to hold Timmy yep please don't let me fall seeing someone suffering the way this woman was can be Soul crushing these officers went way above and beyond to not only ensure that the frightened woman was safe but that she also felt safe as to how she was being taken care of all right let get a little more I tell you some kind you guys just be a bad Ru listen your your granddaughter is going to take you someplace you got to go okay Mike's got it I got it it's already in the van probably it's in the van you understand we're going to wait for the man we're going to go to the hospital see if you're all right right oh I got to make sure that I told you make sure okay you told me earlier you was going to sleep you didn't go to sleep no cuz I worried about that I don't want to lose him I've already lost one and I can't I can't have no more Grandma listen they listen they called and said he's fine and you was there yesterday okay I want to see for myself Grandma you was there yesterday I prom I didn't go I didn't go in yes you did Heather and him took you yesterday you went I promise you the hell was he well that's why I tell you every day that's why you guys was at the bank Thursday trying to get money or Friday trying to get money out I got a half sister that's been in cahoots with her again that ain't supposed to be around her and they even took money out of the bank on Friday that she's not even supposed to be able to get into the bank in my back seat you want care I got it I mean I don't have no money but I got my house yeah we're waiting on F and we're going up to the hospital make sure you're all right I know you're shaken after finally getting the woman into her granddaughter's van the officers handed her care over to the family when the granddaughter's Anne arrived a short while later the woman was taken to a hospital to be evaluated thanks to the heartwarming acts of these kind officers the Alzheimer's patient escaped a dangerous situation without suffering any serious injuries on April 22nd 2023 in Fort Walton Beach police responded to a 911 call about a toddler who' been left alone at home neighbors heard the child banging on a window and immediately notified law enforcement when officers arrived they got the child out of the house but they soon discovered he was living in a house of horrors go to take yeah kid eating I mean you're leaving he's probably like one or two and I'm I could imagine else years old kid luckily for the child involved the neighbors were as upset as the police about a 1-year-old being left alone they told the officers on scene that it wasn't the first time the parents had left their son in the apartment by himself he uh just found probably a one-year-old by himself inside of a house that is horrendously bad parents left about 20 minutes ago locked him inside the house by by by himself took off neighbor saw him baiting on the window and uh he's in not great shape the kids's not in good shape but as soon as we find these parents they are going to prison I got a little patience with this one dude what little kid is in the window banging on the window of 47 he's got a plate of food in front of him the amount of flies in this room in this window is it makes you think there's a dead body in this house where's the child he's in my front seat right now doors are locked we were able to push the window open and he he's just sitting there so we scooped him up real quick we're cleaning him he's [ __ ] he's covered in either or did you take pictures I did okay um we have EMS coming to check him out right now he's got like either on his leg or really bad infected or something he's super dirty super super dirty is there anybody we need to clear the house you can hear the anger and frustration in the officer's voice when explaining the deplorable conditions the child was living in the toddler was left with a cold plate of food essentially a meal that belonged in a trash can and the home itself was infested with flies so I'm going to go through the window and then uh I'll I'll go I'll I'll go through the window and come through the door how many people live live here guys there two what there's two people here yeah how big is this dog uh it's a pretty good size box Trevor let me tell you I I don't know I don't interact with him at all I don't think the do let me you I've come out here a few times when he's out here but I can't say for sure the parents probably thought leaving the child alone with a pet is already as good as getting a babysitter before clearing the house the cops tried to assess if the suspect's dog was a danger to them no one in Law Enforcement wants to put an animal down but it might be necessary if it becomes aggressive for Beach Police Department you're inside make S known are there usually this many flies around here over here closer to my front door so I sco it I no but I mean is there usually this many flies hey Dustin no Dustin yeah grab my axe why the door's locked the door locked the interior he's the kid was locked inside his room I got it locked from the inside yeah can you grab my axe please uh just come out here not only did the parents leave their child at home alone they locked his bedroom door as well so the boy couldn't have gotten out of there if there was a fire or some other emergency even the neighbors were shocked to learn how much danger the toddler had been in is there any other kids here no kid was locked in the room what's up I'm pissed dude uh talk to him I'm going grab it just for when you're ready neighbors called in said that Mom and Dad left the kid at home alone 147 yeah there's a a ridiculous amount of insect activity there's flies everywhere there's flies all over him he's got B all over him smell anything no go ahead okay I need somebody to stay with him okay and if they start taking clothes off and you see injuries or anything suspicious we need a photograph you want me to stay what with them we're going to change the back of the truck we're going with you okay hi baby need a poop it are you yeah I'm coming I'm coming while the child was examined for injuries by EMTs law enforcement escorted fire rescue as they checked on the dog and secured the premises to gain access to the rest of the house the cops decided to lift a bedroom door off its hinges instead of breaking it down with an axe fat guy in a little space here where did that food go down here okay is there on that one just right there there we go we can unlock it and then put it back there you go Police Department if you're in here make sub known Police Department or an ID here Pur L every room in the apartment looked messy and dirty in an effort to get a hold of the parents the officer searched for any ID or documents that might contain the parents contact details they were eventually able to identify the parents from the names on the child's medications temp for copy a name first name Tyler t y l e r oh we got a little puppy in here hi oh we got a bunch of little puppies in here 1241 copy another name I'm just curious when they're going to come back like so do y'all have do y all stay here until they do come back or I've never seen them gone very long like they do leave quite frequently but and you know the mom they do only have one car so sometimes it's hard to tell if the mom is there or if she went with him but if you see them both despite being in the middle of an investig ation one of the officers had to take a moment he was checking on a litter of puppies that seemed to have been better cared for than the child meanwhile the EMTs were tending to the child and they went Above and Beyond in making the child feel at ease [Music] [Music] I mean he's he's little thick he's definitely thick but he's just I don't know he's definitely not being taken care of I mean he look he's chy you should see so there was a bow it had old old stale cold french fries uh a chicken tender like a old McDonald's chicken nugget on top of some gummy bears and then there was uh like rice on top of all of it and then bacon like a strip of bacon and it was covered in in flies and he's just sitting there just eating out of it banging on the window locked in his bedroom it's gut-wrenching to hear what the child had to endure and the state he was in when he was discovered no parents in their right mind would leave their child like this the cops brought Child Protective Services into the home and it definitely looked like it belonged to really IR responsible individuals didn't see this first time hi they look better taking care of than the child oh you guys are so cute sleeping one stuck underneath the blanket yeah little white one um I just general uncleanliness yeah nastiness the you can tell that kids been sitting there with dirty nasty diapers or diarrhea diapers OB room food and stuff stack up and in there this is the room the kid is in so it's just the door knob was locked on from the outside yeah door knob so they had the so on the inside of the door uh you have that and then another one just sitting down there oh gosh and then this is where he was and he over the wall and curtains I don't know what this is about I tried to open this I feel like it's all going to fly out on yeah they're an hour out okay milk yeah look at that that is all yeah they just sit in cuz that's a same colors as diapers all this medication I took the pict so that's the only one that's open of this side that's not open okay this one might be open this one I don't even think has been open I don't know how you're going to get a 2-year-old to take pill oh well that's what that was going to be my next question is this incident and the child's living conditions will all be factored in with determining what actions to take against the parents once they were located and taken into custody but it looks like they'll be facing some serious consequences after 5 hours of being away the parents arrived at the hospital where their child was taken hey diamond is a diamond and Tyler all right diam go ahead and put your hands behind you back I'm di you're diamond oh Diamond go ahead and put your hands behind you back drop that you and Tyler both are under arrest for aggravated child child abuse aggravated child neglect and multiple other charges forthcoming do you have any questions your child is going to be remanded into the custody of DCF pending a investigation and a family member to go and uh check him out he's got a knife do you have anything in your pockets and anything that's going to poke me stick me hurt hurt me all right before either one of you say a word I'm going to read both of you your rights okay you both have the right to remain silent anything you say can and will be used against you in cour of law we can go that that way right there straight out straight out that way doctors determin the child was suffering from a severe double ear infection an upper respiratory infection and malnutrition the child's deplorable condition was documented by crime scene investigators while officers took the parents into custody you have anything on you no I don't you have anything in your pockets no I don't all right go on there have a seat hey can you sit sit right here I got to go in and grab my laptop and stuff you bleeding somewhere is that paint that was a pen that broke in my pocket okay carp not bleeding it front no I'm sorry okay I I don't want to drive the victim's mother Diamond was so busy being upset about being arrested that she didn't even and ask how her child was meanwhile the child's father Tyler seemed completely unfaced about what they'd done and didn't seem to take any of this seriously bye buddy I think your ride is here yeah yeah see you L ride it in here going go in here and turn to the left turn to the left stand in the doorway all right I'm going to take these CS off of you I need any kind of jewelry you have on your necklaces your bracelets your earrings any kind of piercings all of that has to come out you understand up and walk towards that officer she stay in there stay in there uh you have a torch when at work I put it down not RM I'm take I'm hold on to it okay despite this traumatic experience it's heartwarming to see the kid in a jollier mood as the cop who saved him stopped by to say goodbye some might think the cops are just doing their jobs out of Duty but most of them genuinely care about the people they vow to protect can you tell me why you guys left him at home um my dog within the past two weeks gave birth to 13 puppies and we think ready for it since we had our son it was got be close she ate one and then we were so stressed about it it was like we can't we can't leave her alone we have to be this routine and so for about 3 weeks now and she's been inside all day every day well you know I'm at work I come home I take over so she can pass out we're just back and forth so we you know we need to get out at the jail house Tyler told officers that he and Diamond needed a break from the baby because they were both exhausted from caring for their dog in her poppy claiming they couldn't be left alone it's quite ironic and disturbing how they knew what was good for the dog but not for their child how old is your son I aware stupid I've never I was going to ask if you if You' done that before never done okay take him I didn't I didn't want to take him out it was why didn't you want to take him out let me ask you I have listen I have a kid of my own so I understand that toddlers are a lot to handle but but why didn't you want to take him out with you knew it was really on outside and last time we took him he was just he got hot we had to leave early and he was crying and screaming and he got tired and it just we couldn't do do anything and nobody was willing to take him so we thought we could leave him for a bit and it was it was my fault that we left him because I you know I suggested that we left him this couple's excuses for leaving their one-year-old Home Alone were not only selfish but also criminally negligent shockingly however after abandoning their toddler at home in horrible conditions they only received probation on July 2 5th 2018 in Atlanta police responded to a call after a child was locked in a hot car outside of a shopping center fire rescue had also been alerted but the officer on scene didn't want to risk the child's safety by waiting for help to arrive so instead he took matters into his own hands you got you got your kid I don't I'm going have to she's been there about a minute or two I'm waiting on fire go for you know you're G have to hit it hit it yeah whack other end you okay you okay you okay right I just tell them I put my ke on the seat and it automatically lock door handles up front right here on the side you see my keys are right there no my car you can't accidentally locking your child in a hot car is a terrifying experience for any parent the fact the woman's keys were on the front seat meant that there was no negligence on her part but that still didn't mean the young girl in the back seat was in any less danger yeah hit the unlocks keys where the [Applause] keys hey sweetie say hi give me five oh you got other things to do right now you okay sweetie oh goodness a hit her did it no oh she good a water yeah we got to you okay oh yes after breaking out the window saving the child from heat and possible Suffocation these awesome officers took time to chat with a little girl and her mother to make sure everything was okay contrary to what some people might think police peace work is not just about catching bad guys and putting them in jail there are lots of times when they have to go above and beyond to save people and give assistance to members of the community and their heartwarming acts of kindness are what make them so worthy of respect
