How are you? Pretty good. How are you? I'm doing pretty good. So, um I guess start from what what's going on? So, we have a employee that was here, uh Siobhan, uh that we terminated. Um didn't know his name time. Um so, today come in, had her sign a civil demand order. Um let her go, turn her, she leaves, he comes back, says thank you. So, then he starts going off about whatever. He leaves 60, comes back demanding a copy of the paper, he's implicated, which now I have him on video and I'm about to just say, you know what, but now that I have his name and everything, him walking in. So, her name is Shante. Siobhan. Siobhan. And what's his name? William. William Cornwell. Cornwell. Yep. William Cornwell. Okay. Um, and so like I was just literally watching the tape. You can see him come in. He's picking up a couple things. He goes and gets a cart. He comes back over. He picks up the basket that he put stuff in. Walks over, gets a um a fan. Has the two kids with him. The kids are now drinking soda. You want him trespassed? I want them all. Both. Both of them just trespass. Yep. You know where they're at? They're in their house behind the behind here. They live in you know the numbers. Yeah. Cornwell. What? What's this person name again? Well, well Cornwell. Will. Okay. And that's her. That's her. Will Will Cornwell. Okay. Hill. It's spelled S H Y V O N E. I think we live that way. All right. That's just the trailer park address, but there's no lot number. Uh, you know what car she drives? She They're driving a golf cart. So, just look for a golf cart. A golf cart with no roof. No roof. And he's got a long beard, tattoos all over, green and black hat. I think it's green and black. Gotcha. All right, we'll go. You always drive golf carts when she comes there. Guys, I can tell you guys that guys are going over there. He has a golf cart and has probably Davidson on it. Aren't they I don't I What are you trying What What agreement is it? It don't matter what it's about. Just Well, it does because I I can't understand an agreement if I don't know what it's about. It don't matter if we make an agreement. If I come to your house and say, "I'll do your roof for $5,000 and we sign deal, right? Do you get a copy? Do I You can You can ask for a copy." That's what I'm saying. Can you get a copy of it? That's all I'm asking. I would say so. Yeah. That's what I thought. That's all I asked for. He's arrested for obstruction of official business and disorderly conduct. He's hindering us from doing our jobs because we're trying to get his DS, which is his social, so we can trespass him and they come trespass you from the Dollar General. Why are you trespassing me? I said, "What are you talking about?" He goes, "It don't matter. I'm not telling you." I said, "How are we supposed to help you?" And he goes, "Forget about it, tough guy." Blah blah blah. And then we needed to get his social into the call because we're trespassing him and you. Yeah. Ask him for his social. Flips out right here. And I said, "Stop running. Give us your social." And he takes off running after he was told if he decided to not give us his social that he would be arrested for disorderly conduct and obstruction. Obstruction of official business is when you hinder me from doing my job. Him running and not giving me his social is hindering me from doing my job. Disorderly conduct. I'm not here to debate that with you right now. Oh my god. All right, turn around. I'm sorry. I apologize for whatever it is. I know our feelings, buddy. We're just doing our job. What? Can you listen? What? How? What? Tried listening. That's why But we was both upset clearly and we was Listen, buddy. On body camera, buddy. Okay, but I'm asking you. You not asking anymore. Listen, though. Did you call me back? Like, I came back for you. You wanted me, man. That's why you ran, huh? I'm not because I didn't do anything, bro. Real quick question, man. All right. So, we're getting ready to go in here. Okay. Well, I just have to ask everyone. It's not just you. Anything past the big door that we're about to go in is going to be considered conveyance. Okay. Is there anything we're going to find in or on you? I'm not saying you're high. No, I I asked this to everybody. Okay. That's all I It's something I have to ask everybody. Thank you. Hey everyone, it's Trent, prior deputy sheriff, patrol sergeant, and canine handler. I didn't catch this in the video. Maybe I just didn't hear it, but it is notated in the deputy's report. So, the reason why the suspect's wife was fired is because she was caught stealing and that's why the management had her sign some sort of form. I'm not entirely sure what it consisted of. And then, like the suspect said, he later went back and tried to get her copy of it. And I'm sure that he was yelling and raised his voice and he also admitted to that fact. Now, trespassing somebody from an establishment like that as a law enforcement officer, it is an incredibly basic function. It's also incredibly common. And it's something that we do quite often. And yes, this business, gas station, convenience store, whatever it is, can absolutely legally trespass pretty much whoever they want for any reason they want. Usually what that is going to entail as a law enforcement officer is you're just going to go find the suspect and say, "Hey, that business doesn't want you there. They're officially trespassing you. I need your identifying information." Usually that's going to be somebody's driver's license or identification card, or they're going to provide you all their information, name, date of birth, social security number, etc. so that you can provide that to dispatch and they can enter it into the system. That way it's flagged in their jacket or their profile under their information. So if there's a problem in the future, that is already notated and whatever future officer hypothetically has to go deal with the same suspect again that is trespassing at the same spot is already going to be aware that this person has been trespassed. Again, it's very basic and we do it all the time, but that is how that goes a 100% of the time. You are going to need to identify them and get all of their information to provide it to your dispatch. So, what happened with this call is the officers cleared the call. Essentially, they told this guy, "Have a nice day." Because they didn't want to talk to him anymore. They were obviously getting into some sort of argument almost. The suspect was being unreasonable. These officers were just trying to ask him questions and he just didn't want to provide it. He kind of had an attitude about it, whatever. And they just said, "All right, have a nice day. See you later." But then dispatch told them, "Hey, in order for us to officially trespass him and document it on our end of things, we need his social security number because that's how our system works. I think there was some sort of update that they notated in their report. I'm not entirely sure what happened there." So that is why they go back and recont them. So, does that suspect need to provide them that information so that they can effectively trespass him from that property and give his information to dispatch? Yes, he does. Did they do a horrible job of explaining that fact? Absolutely. This is just my opinion and I'm money quarterback in this situation, but that could have been done a lot smoother again in my opinion than it was. All they did, this deputy walked back up and said, "I need your driver's license." Which they don't. They ended up needing his social security card. Is that something they could have asked him in conjunction with it? Yes. But they could have easily said, "Hey, look, we need your social security number. You have to provide it to us by law, please, so that we can give it to our dispatch and then we will be out of your hands and we're not going to arrest you or take you to jail. We just have to get it. We forgot to get it." And they could have tried to go at it that route instead of just saying, "We need your I we need your driver's license." And he says, "I don't have it on me." And then they basically just go straight into you're going to be arrested for disorderly conduct and obstruction. And if I was in his shoes, this is just playing devil advocate. I would probably be incredibly confused as to why that was just because in my mind, these officers had just cleared this call with me. If I was the suspect and why do they need my information? At the same time, you do need to provide it even because they are asking for it. But it is a legitimate question for this suspect to ask of them. Either way, I think that that entire thing could have just been done better. But again, I'm just moneym morninging quarterbacking this watching this video. And then we see how it goes later on and these deputies are just screaming at this guy at the tail end of it when it wasn't really that hard to restrain him. And apparently he has a broken back. Everybody always says they have a broken back. I have no idea why that is, but I've personally heard that excuse more times than I can count. Long story short, there was a lot of things that didn't need to go the way they did in this one, but at the end of the day, that's just how it goes sometimes. And that's going to be it for this one. See you guys in the next one. He was charged with disorderly conduct and obstruction of official business. [Music]
