Hands behind your back. DO IT NOW. WHY ARE YOU NOT SUPPOSED TO HAND BEHIND YOUR BACK? I HAVE NOT. Stop fighting. Stop breathing. Stop fighting. Can you listen? Put your hands behind your back. But what are you handcuffing me for? I don't I don't I'm not stealing. I gave her the nails back. Stop playing. I'm giving her the nails back. HEY, BABY. STOP BEING SO HOSTILE with me. I got a receipt. You have a receipt? Let me see. I have it right here. Traffic 41. Got one running. Brown shoes, gray pants, blue t-shirt toward. There's something satisfying about watching the sheer look of panic on a criminal's face when they think they've gotten away with it, but then see police closing in on them. Their demeanor suddenly shifts from cocky to remorseful when cops surprise the hell out of shoplifterss caught in the act. What's wrong with you? You better stop. On the 12th of June, 2023 in Los Cruus, New Mexico, police were called to a Walgreens after the manager reported that a habitual shoplifter stole two bottles of alcohol. By the time Officer Martinez arrived at the store, the suspect was gone already and probably thought he'd stay a free man. But if you're a crook, you could never be too sure. Hi. Hi. How you doing? Good. How are you? We got hit twice earlier, but already are they both already gone? Oh, yeah. Um, one of them I've never really seen before, but the other one he comes in every single day. He was out here the other night. Oh, really? Do you uh know his name? I don't know his name, but I know he was arrested for stealing bottles before. Um, has he been trespassed? Yeah, I I can never get like a good picture of his face. Oh, you don't have one in the front? Mm-m. But Oh, do you know which one he is? Yeah, I think I do. Can you let me see the guy? He's a He's a guy. He's a guy, but he he goes by a female's name, right? Yeah. See, so he's always with him. This guy? Yeah. But I can never get their face cuz I forget that when I'm on the phone, I can't take a video of them. It doesn't I don't know why it doesn't give me the option. Yeah. Our suspect seemed to be a familiar face to both the employees and the officers. The manager explained that this habitual thief had a predictable MMO. Along with their accomplice, they would shoplift and then leave the scene to change clothes at a nearby bus stop. In this way, they thought they could elude the police. He took two bottles of cow today. Okay. Yeah. And this is what he was wearing today. Yeah. The gray shirt. He usually doesn't change, but he was ducked down at the bus stop, so I'm assuming he was changing. Okay. All right. I don't know. And then the other one I like I said I've never really seen before but he just walked in. He grabbed tequila rose. I'm like that's an interesting Yeah. And he just walked off. I was like okay bye. Did you want a police report or anything? No. We can't really do anything either way. I just have to We're just trying to get security guard back. So as long as I put as long as I put that I'm calling you guys also. The chances of us getting security guard back is is higher. It's a lot higher. Definitely understand. Now that Martinez had a description, he went on the hunt for the suspect. Just 10 minutes later, he surprised him at a nearby deli. We're not too sure who was more surprised. The suspect at the arrival of police or the officer when the suspect exclaimed that he was not a sir. What's going on, man? Come outside for me. Put that back. Put that back. Come outside. Am I not supposed to be here? Come outside. I'm not supposed to be here. Come outside. Come outside right now. Sir, don't touch. You're going to stop this problem. What's wrong with you? You better stop. Why are you doing Get on your stomach. Why are you doing this? You don't need GET ON YOUR STOMACH OR YOU'RE GOING TO GET THIS. GET ON YOUR STOMACH. Get on your stomach. GET ON YOUR STOMACH. GET ON YOUR STOMACH. GET ON YOUR STOMACH. JUST KICK ME OUT. GET ON YOUR STOMACH. CAN YOU TALK TO ME, PLEASE? I JUST WANTED SOMETHING TO DRINK. QUIT LYING. [screaming] GET ON YOUR STOMACH. QUIT LYING. GET ON YOUR STOMACH OR YOU'RE GOING TO GET IT AGAIN. GET ON YOUR STOMACH. Get on your stomach or you're going to get it again. After the stark realization that screaming wasn't going to get them out of this predicament, the suspect decided to calm themselves down with some meditation. What's even stranger is that after the officer pulled out the handcuffs, the suspect made some unusual discrimination claims lie behind your back. Why? Because they lie to you. They lie to everybody. Stand up. We're not going to have Stand up. Would they do this to me? I know. I'm not going to ask. Did they do this to me? I know. They're not. They're not. They're not. They're not. You taste. I can't even move my legs. Stand up. I can't move my legs. I can't move my legs. You're abusing the out of me. You pulled me out of the store. You tossed me inside the store. You pulled me out and you wouldn't let go. You scared me. I do not know what to do with you. Are you wearing my father's hands? Do you want my father's hands? Oh, I'm asking you a question. Stop. Get out of my father's hands. Shane, you're just a liar. You don't care. Why do you lie to me? Why is it that you lie to me? You're a shoplifting. Blasphemy. Blasphemy. I did not do such a thing. Get up. I did not do such a thing. The suspect continued lying on the ground while making excuses for their actions and also accusing the cops of blasphemy. The suspect claimed that the taser was causing their legs to cramp, prompting the officer to call for backup. Still, he seemed more concerned about misgendering than going to jail. I don't know, man. You don't know me. All you do is lie. You abuse me. You abused me. All you did was pull me out. Do you want nothing with me? Okay. That's another charge. I didn't mean to. I didn't mean to. Stop it. Stop me. Stop. Stop me. Just stop it. Stop. Abraham, why are you Gabriel? Why did you tase me? Open. Open this. Gabriel. Right there in that pocket. Gab, bro. See it? Gab, bro. Gabriel. Ignoring the strange claims, the cops took out the taser barbs and loaded the suspect into the cruiser. Shortly after, the suspect claimed that they couldn't breathe. So, the officers agreed to head to a nearby hospital for treatment. No, this is not right, bro. What was that? You know this ain't right. What is it? What are you judging me already? I'm not judging, bro. Actually, we we used to work together, remember? I did not do anything wrong. I trusted you, too. [crying] What happened? You lied to me again. What? About your feelings. What did I tell you? You do not like me the way you're looking at me. We used to be friends. Remember we used Well, why would you do that? We used to work. Why would you not defend me? They took advantage of me and you know it. I was here to take care of you. I'm more innocent than what you think. I'm here to take care of you, Jeremia. You know I'm more innocent than what you think. Why you looking at me like that? How easy are you now? Hold up. I'm going to leave me too. No, I'm taking care of you, Jeremiah. After being cleared, the suspect was transported to jail and was charged with shoplifting and resisting arrest. Even though the suspect had been arrested over 20 times before, the prosecutor later dismissed both charges. Perhaps they would have gotten more gentle treatment if they hadn't run. On October 31st, 2023, police responded to a shoplifting call at a party city in Illinois. The cops arrived on scene shortly after the woman left the store and she was quickly ambushed in the parking lot. 16 for YOU DOING THIS RIGHT. What the is you doing? What is your back now? Okay, I will do that. Get on the ground now. Get on the ground. Put your hands behind your back. YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO THAT. HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. DO IT NOW. WHY ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEHIND YOUR BACK? I HAVE [screaming] AND I stop breathing. But can you listen? I DON'T I [screaming] HAVE TASTE. CAN YOU PUSH? Can you put me up so I can breathe? Please, I can't. Put your hand on your back now. Let go. Put your hand on your back. I can't breathe. I can't stop. Quit pecking me. I can't breathe. All right, cut. Stand up. Though the woman claims she couldn't breathe due to asthma, the cops weren't buying it. If you have a serious medical condition, resisting arrest is never a good idea. It's debatable whether or not she had asthma, but one thing's certain, she had plenty of breath to keep screaming at the officers. You stand up or what? Yes, I'm going to stand up. What the will you stand up for? I can't even breathe. Y'ALL BE OVERDOING YOUR JOB. THE OUT. We told you stop resisting too. Okay. Resist the Yeah. You want to tackle other types of shoes. Put my Stop. I put my mother shoes off. Stop. Y tweaking. Stop. Why did you hide in my arm like that? You're acting like this. Stop. What you mean? You acting like this. You overdoing stealing. The cops escorted the woman to the squad car while she continued to shout and put up a fight. Although she tried to play dumb, the cops took a quick look in her bag and found the stolen merchandise she claimed to not possess. Can you put my arms over so I caning breathe? I cannot BREATHE. QUIT YELLING. I CAN'T. YES, you can. [snorts] 16. Need another car. This way. Can't put my [snorts] arms up. Huh? You put your arms up. You can breathe. Relax. All right. We'll get that off of that one. Grab my badge from my 21. I don't know how that came off, but mess. You going to settle down now? Yes. Can I breathe down? As the officers continued their search, they found more stolen merchandise inside her jacket. Caught red-handed, she finally calmed down and confessed, letting the officers do their jobs. Given her initial attitude, she's lucky the officers were in such a good mood. Stand up. Okay, I'm going to move you. You got to move too much. She got inside her coat yet. [snorts] Yes. Thing you called. You got to pay for stuff. Okay. And then we don't we have search up that coat. There's nothing else in the damn. Can you please back up? Yes, ma'am. Okay. They check this inside pocket. There you go. How's that? Wrestle around the dude. I'm put around. I think that [snorts] was your car. Mine. Putting yours in here. After being placed in the squad car, the cops went back to the site of the initial encounter and retrieved another bag of stolen goods. But setting aside the stolen merchandise, things were about to get a whole lot worse for the woman. So what you're saying is she's out on bond right now. So she just violated bond. Okay. You arrested her a couple weeks ago on the 26th of September. Oh. Yep. Yeah. We were fighting people up there. Oh my goodness. Wow. Shock. That's my mom. I looked it up. I read her name. So she violating bond. All right. Oh, that's not happen to me. That's absolutely going to happen. Your mom. All right. What's going on, hun? What's going on? She call you up here? Yeah. All right. Well, I'll tell you. She's an adult, but I'll tell you just cuz I understand. She was in inside here stealing. They called. She came out. They pointed her out. Partner went up there and said, "Hey, you've been accused of stealing. I'm going to see in your purse. She refused. Started pulling away from him. We had a fighter take her down to the ground and she started trying to kick me." Um, and that's what happened. She had stuff in her purse. She had stuff stuck in her shirt. So, she's going to jail. So, like I said, I respect you as a mom coming up here and trying to find out what your kid. Um, so I I do respect that. Okay. That's why I'm telling you. Um, but she is an adult. We don't have to, but you know, it is what it is, right? No parent wants to hear that their child's being arrested for shoplifting. But props to this mother for taking the time to show up and offer support. It's a lot more than we can say for many of the suspects we cover. After everything she put the officers through, she was lucky the cops allowed her to speak to her mother at all. You can stand there if she wants to yell at you or whatever. I don't have problem. That's your very nice. I don't have a problem with that. put her on the ground. 11:00 got her to the ground. Well, yeah, we were called because the female inside um had a cart full. She thought she was going to walk out and we sat here and she did walk out and she's pointing at her saying it's her. He went over there, told her whatever he told her over there. I I wasn't over there. And then she was pulling back. She was grabbing her and then I grabbed onto her and she wouldn't put her hand on her back. She was told to your knee good. Oh yeah, it was on the ground. Is this scraped or anything? No, I don't think so. I'm going to keep wearing just fine. Just document it. That's fine. Just do it. But I got to document it. So I'm still wearing these. I only got two pair. No, that's fine. [laughter] I don't care about that. If she cooperated with the officers and been upfront with them, things probably would have gone a lot smoother for her. In the end, however, she was charged with retail theft and resisting an officer. Still, her charges were way less serious than our next suspects. On the 26th of May, 2024 in New Mexico, officers responded to a Walmart regarding a shoplifting in progress. When they arrived on scene, loss prevention associates told them that a man and a woman had been removing price tags and concealing merchandise. So, they were putting stuff into the bag and then also took some price tags off with some items that they have on. These are always fun. They're always running. So, that's why I get here fast. This would be my first if they run. if they run. Yeah, I like to wait till they come separate because if you get them separate, one runs other way and other runs other way. So if you get them together, you have like same general travel more or less, you know. Oh, there he is. Hot pockets. Oh, see they selected another bag there. Oh yeah, it's closing. So they're Well, they're loaded up for sure. probably level 96 if I was in front of the UPS store. Oh, you're going to load up one in MSU stuff. Yeah, those are so Those are so expensive. They're about $30 shirts. Yeah, they're Yeah, they're pretty pricey. Cool. The suspects were completely oblivious to the fact that law enforcement was watching their every move. Not wanting to rain on their parade, the officers allowed them to go about their thieving business. In cases like this one, it's best to stand by and let the thieves incriminate themselves with their own greed. They just split up. So, they're loading two parts now. Who's that guy? That and then [snorts] he's looking hard. That lady's going to go to liquor. So, they're probably going to try and steal liquor. Oh, he's going to open the bag. There we go. That's her. Is she concealing that, too? Yeah. So, there's a backpack underneath there. Also, the glasses on her head are She took off the price tag. And he already took off the price tag to the backpack he just selected. Oh, they're probably loading all that up. So, that has a security that has a security thing on it. So, I wouldn't doubt that they're just going to try and run that bottle now. There we go. They're going They're doing it fast, too, huh? Good. She's grabbing a lot of of She's going to go probably around. Now, this shit's added up too fast. Huh? It should be like a 300 sound right there with all the meat. She's Oh, no. No. Oh. Oh, yeah. She's sucking up on meat. That's a good indicator right there. The cops continued watching as they continued to conceal an assortment of goods. Sunglasses, liquor bottles, backpacks, and packaged meats. The loss prevention team estimated that the suspects had already stolen up to $300 in merchandise. After watching them conceal even more items, the cops decided to surprise them as they left the store. Come here, man. You don't have to get on the ground. You don't have to get on the ground. You're fine. Just relax. Do what we tell you. Okay. Just get up, bud. Stand up. Stand up. Thank you. Put your feet under you. There you go. I'll get your stuff. I'll get your glasses. I'll get them. Walk over there. We're going to take the backpack off. You understand why we're talking with you right now? You have an idea? Okay, we'll go over that in detail in just a moment. Okay, young man. All right. They first pulled the man aside to search him and take the stolen goods from him. Next, with help from another officer in the surveillance room, the cops reset their trap and waited for his accomplice to exit the building. But she wasn't about to go down without a fight. She's pushing out right now. About to push out, bro. That same door. Terrible. She's wearing like a a flower shirt and she's got a basket full like $1,000 worth of stuff. Just let her go out. Terrible. Come here. Get over here. What are you thinking about? That was the stupidest thing you've ever done. Do I have to get arrested or can I just I got a 16-year-old at home or something. That's too bad. She can go with CPS. [laughter] With the suspects now in custody, it's time for the loss prevention team to determine their fate. And because this shoplifting duo had stolen hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise, they weren't about to let them off easy. And you guys want to press charges? For sure. Press charges. Yes. All the way. Everything we can. Especially she tried to run. She knew she was wrong. Shame on that old lady. Dang. You're too old to be doing that, lady. We're fine. Well, I know you're sorry. It's too late for that. Doesn't hurt. Yes, I can go home. Nope. She could offer every apology in the world, but there was no way the officers were going to let them off the hook. There was no doubt whatsoever that they expected the male's pockets to be loaded with stolen goods, but nothing could have prepared them for what they were about to find. A very bad day like Halloween store. and then Where did that come from? Uh the American. Oh, that's nice. Like I said, you already remember you have rights, right? Are you a felon? You're not a felon. You're legally allowed to have firearm. It's inoperable. It's inoperable. Yeah. Don't worry. They're all loading. Four, five. Yeah. I still 22. Yeah. General. It looked like our suspect would have a lot of explaining to do. Carrying an unlicensed firearm is a serious offense. Also, if the cops decide to charge him with impersonating an officer due to that badge they found on him, he could be facing some serious jail time. You don't got nothing in your shoes? No. Are you sure? No problem. When you're free, we can put him right here. vote is after the receipts. They just barely gave them to me already. Yeah. How much is it for? So they did it separately. His is uh 207 and they were working together though, so they get charged together. Yeah. Uh 770. The female suspect was charged with shoplifting over $500, conspiracy to shoplift, and resisting arrest. The man was also charged with shoplifting over $500, and conspiracy to shoplift, and received an additional charge for possessing a stolen firearm. Police were alerted to a CVS after an employee called asking for assistance in dealing with an intoxicated woman. While the suspect wasn't initially accused of shoplifting, the employee asked that she be removed from the premises before she caused any more havoc. Hey guys, what's going on? Baby, I don't got no out say to me. What's going on? Nothing. I just came here to buy my stuff and I asked her what the stuff was and she told me she didn't know. So, I was going to get back in the car. Okay. Well, I don't know, babe. You um What happened? Are you guys okay to drive? Oh, I'm I was drunk. I'm drunk. But I'm I'm drunk enough to drive, though. No. Well, I got my cousin coming to pick me up, though. I can wait for my cousin to come pick me up. Yeah, that's fine. But you can't drive. Okay. Wait for my cousin to come pick me up then, baby. You can call whatever police. That's why we trying to tell people to call. So, have you been drinking, too? Can you drive? You have a driver's license. You can go ahead and actually trespass her cuz I do know her bag has stuff in it because they didn't come in. No. What began as a disturbance call quickly morphed into accusations of shoplifting. As long as she had nothing to hide, she should have been on her way. But judging from the suspect's attempt to flee the scene so quickly, it's a pretty safe bet to assume that she had something to hide after all. Okay, but this is my bag, sir. This is my bag. Listen, this is my bag. I gave her this. 16 up. Excuse me, sir. I gave her this. Sir, this is the only thing I gave her. That my bag is not is not hers. Okay, I'm just going to figure that out. Okay, but I'm going to secure you until that happen. But why are you trying to handcuff me? You are not under arrest. Okay, but what are you handcuffing me for? I I don't steal. I'm not stealing. Put your hands behind your back. But what are you handcuffing me for? I don't I don't I'm not stealing. I'm giving her the nails back. Stop fighting. I'm giving her the nails back. HEY, BABY. STOP BEING SO HOSTILE WITH ME. OKAY. WELL, stop fighting and put your hands. I ain't stealing. I'm I'm giving her her her nails back. Okay, you still over there. Okay, I appreciate it. I'm just securing Okay. I'm just giving her her nails back. They're going to nail I had them up under my arms. You seen I didn't want them. Drop this stuff. Okay. Okay. get it. The woman claimed she'd done nothing wrong. If that were the case, she should have cooperated, but by this point, even if she didn't shoplift, the woman's aggressive attitude and resistance could land her in very hot water. Still, calming down seemed to be the last thing on her mind. I'm going to see. I'm going to see. I'm going to see. I'm going to help you. DO YOU HAVE THE I I CAN SEE IT. OKAY. I'm going to help you down. I can see it. But I'm telling you, sir, when I walk back, the nails right there is the one that beat up under my arms. Now, have a seat. I don't have up there. Okay, come here. Have a seat. I'm going to seat. I'm going to sit you in the car. No, I'm going to sit right here. I'll sit right here. I sit. I sit. I sit. I'm going to sit. Well, don't grab me. I'm going to sit. Don't grab me. I'm f to sit. No, just sit in the car. Why do I have to sit in the car? I don't have to sit in no car. Okay, I can stand by the car. I don't have to sit in no car. Sit in the car. I don't have to. What's in the car? So, you just going to bust my lip? So you going to bust MY LIP? SO YOU BUSTING MY LIP THOUGH. YOU BUSTING MY LIP. YOU BUSTING MY LIP. And you busting my lip. I ain't do to you. Sick and tired of her attitude. The officer pushed her into his squad car. Although the woman claimed the officer busted her lip. It was clear from the body cam footage that he lightly pushed her into the cruiser after she refused to get in. Following this altercation, the suspect's partner asked to speak with the officer. All right. Yes. Thank you for being calm. Yes. What's going on? Listen, we came in the store. Look for some nails. She had the nails up on her arm. She must forgot cuz she drunk. Okay. So, I'm saying she had Okay. Do you have any of their merchandise? No, I don't. Okay. I got one female in the car screaming. Okay. It's a mess. All right. Is this your car? Yes, ma'am. That's her car? Do you have a valid license? Yes, I do. Are you able to drive? Yes, sir. Have you been drinking, too? No, I haven't drink. Okay. I'm going to have you hang out here until I figure out what else is going on. Okay. All right. So, I make contact with them both. She's drunk. And as they're walking out, it beeps and the manager says, "I want them trespass cuz she just stole." So, I'm like, "Okay." She's like, "Oh, I just stole this." It's like a little thing of nails. I'm like, "All right." So, I got to put her in handcuffs to see if she's also got a bag over there. See if she's got anything else. She starts freaking out. So, I ask you to set it up. So, I'm going to figure out I just need to figure out if they want to prosecute, what else they have. I don't really have much right now. I can push resistant if I want, but that's kind of what I got now. Actually, the officer got her story wrong here. The woman didn't admit to stealing the nails. She was trying to argue that the officer escorted her out of the store before she could pay for them, causing the anti- theft sensors to sound the alarm. So, as long as the officers don't find any unpaid items in her bag, it's possible she could still beat the shoplifting charge. Hey. Yes, ma'am. So, do you guys want to press charges? Yeah. Go ahead. Yeah. You want to press charges for the theft? Yes. Yeah. Okay. Um and she like Can you come out and see and tell me what is yours? Hey sir, where's her bag? Cuz you took it. Yeah. Yeah. Where is it? Okay. I need that now. All right, ma'am. Can we go through this real quick and see what's yours and what's Just tell me what's yours. All this is yours. I'm not I don't want to tell this yours. This is yours? Yes. All the over top out. Yeah. Is this yours? It's half done. Is that It's unlikely hers. I did. Oh, no. Never mind. I It felt white. So, yeah, I guess it is. Chip gloves. No. Could you go through the rest of that? It looks like she won't be escaping that shoplifting charge after all. and her partner here was pretty lucky because they were lenient with him. Otherwise, he could have been seen as an accomplice to the theft. I mean, I got to go to jail. Um, yeah, you're going to jail for resisting uh I didn't I didn't resist resisting with violence and uh please I didn't resist. I promise I didn't resist. Well, I mean, I was there. So, you did resisting with you, sir. I was just telling you I I'm telling you, please don't. This is all you're doing. Cuz if you didn't resist me, you wouldn't be going to jail cuz they don't even want to prosecute for the things you stole. Please, I'll kick it off. I promise. I promise I didn't resist. And what are you saying? You didn't do anything wrong cuz you had a whole bag of stuff you just stole from that place. He was knowing he was helping. But I didn't know. I It was Oh, yeah. Right. It It was your female bag on your shoulder and you didn't know. Come on. Okay. Can I help you? Next time when they're trying to talk to you, don't fight cops. You go to jail. The officer was right. The only thing resisting the police will get you is a first class ticket to jail. By now, the woman had exchanged her aggressive tone for incoherent blubbering, but there was no way whatsoever she was going to talk herself out of this one. Next, the officers searched her before transporting the woman to jail. Your feet, you got anything on you? I should be cop that's going to focus you. All right. What about your cousin? You want to get in trouble with me? Can you please go and call my friend if you b me out like Yeah, I'll tell him to bond you out. I want to tell him cuz I don't know if he going to listen to you guys. Step in the vehicle, please. Quite frankly, I don't care. Sit down. Step in the vehicle. Sit down. Our bonding out is not our responsibility. Nope. Thank you so much. You know we're you know we're hiring. if you don't want to have to keep going back and forth. She was later charged with resisting arrest. She pled no contest and was sentenced to 60 days in jail. On November 30th, 2022 in Durville, Georgia, police officers responded to a shoplifting incident at a Sitco gas station. Employees witnessed a man disappearing into the bathroom with a case of beer. He came out empty-handed, prompting employees to call the police. What's going on, dude? Let me see your hands. What's going on? What'd you do with the beer? Huh? I don't have You're telling me he's I got you. Hey, I don't I just came with the same bag I came with. I just left right there. Where you live at? 10:00. Take your hands. 10:25. Let me see your ID. Let me see your ID. Huh? I'm fine. All right. Let me see your ID. I'm fine. I'm fine. [ __ ] I just left it in. You ain't got no gun on you, do you? No, I know. I just left it in the apartment. I live over there. I just live over there. All right, let me see your ID. The suspect said he left his ID back at the house. The cop searched a pouch the man wore around his neck and found nothing illegal, but the officer was still suspicious due to the man's visible apprehension. Next, the officer asked the suspect to open his backpack. All right, let me let me see you. Check your backpack out. I'm okay with that. I'm okay with it. I'm okay. I'm okay with that. If you want to say to the precinct, I we'll work that out now. I don't want to. All right. Well, what I want you to do is go ahead and turn around. Place your hands behind your back. I want to tame you. Don't put Don't put your hands on me like that. Step it up. 317. No. I'm going to take my bag. I'm going to take my bag off. Let me take my bag off. Let me takeist. I'm not Don't resist. I'm not resisting. Do not resist. Put your hand behind. Hey. Hey. Do not resist. Easy. Easy. Easy. Easy. One fail to comply to verbal commands. He served 69. In one of the dumbest moves in criminal history, the suspect tried to reach for the officer service weapon. During the scuffle, the suspect broke free and ran outside. As the two were wrestling near the squad car, another officer arrived on scene right in the nick of time. Easy, easy. Don't do it. Easy, easy, easy, easy. Put your hands. Hey, there you go. No, don't take my bag off. Don't take my back. Get on my back. This is my bag. This is my bag. This is my bag. My bag. This is my bag. Lay down. JUST GO IN THE JAIL. I'M NOT GOING TO JAIL. Calm down. Calm down. Calm down. I was security. I'm a security law. Put your hands behind your hand. This is going to hurt. Calm down. Calming down. Calm down. Calm down. If the man was indeed a security guard, he wouldn't be for much longer. After all that, he still thought the officers had no right to search his backpack. He even went so far as to claim that he wasn't resisting arrest. After securing the suspect in the back of a squad car, the officer then searched the washroom for the missing case of beer. Does that back lift off? Huh? Does that lift off? I see only one can something else. Well, that's not that kind of beer, though. Well, I don't see nothing. Nope. No empty cans? Nope. The clerk showed the officer security footage that corroborated the story. The suspect definitely disappeared into the washroom with a full case of beer. If the cans weren't in the washroom, there was only one place left they could be. There. That's right there. That's where How much is that 12 pack? 20 bucks. How much? $20. $20 for that. All right. You got your beer back? Yes. He's going to go to beer. You want to prosecute, don't you? Huh? You want to prosecute for shoplifting? Uh, no. No, that's fine. Yes or no? Uh, what does the prosecuting mean? Huh? Like for shoplifting? But we just want him to give the trespass. Huh? We just don't want him to come back here. Yeah. Well, come here right quick. The suspect was lucky that the clerk didn't want to press charges. Still, the clerk did want the man trespassed from the property. So, there was only one thing left to do before officers could take the man to jail and close the case. Go ahead and tell him he's no longer welcome here. You're no longer welcome here, you know. All right, so if you come back here, you'll be arrested for criminal trespass. Roger that. All right, cool beans. All right, man. He's not going to. He's killed. I don't know why. Well, that's not no charge, huh? I can't do nothing about that. That's the way. There's no That's freedom of speech. What? He shot him a bird. I said that's freedom of speech. Well, I don't want to go to the court to just Well, you have to say if you want a criminal trespass warning, you have to say it. Yeah, you can. Yeah. All right. I'm He's been issued a criminal trespass now. So, if he comes back here, he can be arrested for criminal trespass now. Okay. All right. The suspect was charged with obstruction and attempting to remove an officer service weapon. He was then checked in at Decal County Jail. On the 8th of August 2023, officers responded to a shoplifting call at a Walmart. When they arrived on scene, they learned that the suspect had fled to a nearby Sam's Club and was hiding in the bathroom stalls. Subject possibly in the bathroom 133, are you? Hey, let me see your hands. Come back. Let me see your hands. Put your hands off. Let me see your hands. Hey, let me see your hands. Let me see your ass. GET OUT OF THE DOOR. Take it out. GET ON THE GROUND. GET OFF MY GROUND. Get off the ground. Get on the ground. Yo, what are you, mother? What did I do? Oh my god, dog. You going to leave me in the face? What are you doing? Who are you? Having nowhere else to run, the officers finally subdued the man and placed him in handcuffs. The suspect here was seriously lucky he wasn't shot. Hiding from officers with their guns drawn while ignoring their commands is downright dangerous. considering they couldn't see what he was up to behind closed doors. Get on your feet. CHILL THE OUT. HEY, RELAX. CHILL. Y'ALL THE ONE JUST CHILL. I wasn't doing nothing. Y'all kicking me in the face. Kick me in my face for dude. Let's go, bro. Chill. Hey, dude. I'm chilling. Just chill then. Walk. Just walk. I'm walking, dude. Don't tense up on me. I'm not tensing up. You kicked me in the man. I don't know what [ __ ] you're talking about, man. You seen that, bro? Right is right. Wrong is wrong, dog. Getting in the car. I'm chilling. All right. BE VERY CALM WITH YOU, DOG. Get in the car. After taking the suspect into custody, officers learned that a female getaway driver was also involved in the attempted theft. However, due to the officers arriving, she fled the scene, leaving her partner behind. Negative, ma'am. We're unable to see the There's a witness that said it might have been a female driving, but we don't we have no description of that. Like kick in the face. Oh, he did. What do you mean by he? The officer individual that did. I'm sorry. The individual that did it. Okay. So, do you are you able to determine who exactly did? Yes, I was. All right. You know who it is? The one right here in the car with me. The other one with the cream color shirt. And I would like to I Okay, cool. So, give me a second. We're focus everything else. We'll do all the pictures. We do stuff like that. Awesome. The suspect claimed that he had burns on his back from a previous event and experienced a concussion during the arrest. By the time EMS arrived, the man was lying on his stomach in the back of the squad car. Yo, you all right? You all right? Huh? You all right? here. Hey, Marcus, help me up. Yo, I'm gonna help you up. No. Huh? All right. We're going to help you up. All right. [snorts] There you go. Just like that. Push yourself to the side. Get out, bro. I need abs. You are. Could you leave the break? Could you leave the door like this? I want doors are wide open. Could you leave it like this? I want there, huh? See, you comfortable there. Are you comfortable like that? He said, "Yeah, but he said he has." Okay. Well, if I rescue you, all right. Although the man received treatment and was cleared by EMS, he continued to claim that officers abused him and refused to assist him. In addition, he declined to identify himself to officers and continued to demand assistance. So, your biggest concern obviously is the the the blow to the right side of the head, right? Right above the ear. No, sir. No. Right side of the head above my ear. Okay. The back of the head and the knee to my face was done by I believe the laws officer with the cream colored shirt. I didn't get that. All right. And when did that occur? That was the initial hit. The initial hit was right in the face. Well, when when you say initial, does that mean everything that happened inside the Everything happened inside? No. Coming out of the store. He's good, strong. He's not strong. He's just I guess it was um he had leverage cuz he's weak. Okay. You understand? All right. But when he pulled me off the toilet, he pulled me directly into his my face directly into his so I can identify him to his day. All right. What What was that loss prevention officer wearing? Uh cream color shirt. Uh color shirt. All right. What color flags? Uh red. All right. The suspect also claimed that the officer abused him and refused to give him his name. Unfortunately for our suspect, there's no federal law in the US that requires officers to identify themselves when asked. You going to give us your name? Not. I'm going to charge you with another crime. So, no name, but I'm going to take that silence as no name. So, what I need right now is just your first name. How about that? Can we start with that? All right. Well, we're going to take that ID. I'll get you figured out. Go with him. The ID figure out who this guy is an ID. Okay. The suspect was taken to the county police ID department and continued refusing to provide officers with his name. The man even refused to be fingerprinted. Based on this, it looks like the suspect has more to hide than he's letting on. We have to do the paper for work and then yes, you're going to have to book. You're going to have to book a message on I can't force. So he's refusing. Sorry. Are you refusing? Sir, are you refusing to provide your identification? No. Yeah. I mean, refusing to be fingerprinted. That's what Well, here's the difference. Are you refusing to be fingerprinted? Sure. Just say no. No. All right. All right. I'll let them know you. Sorry. Thank you. No problem. Sorry. Yes. The suspect was taken to the police station and was eventually identified as 43-year-old Melvin. He was charged with shoplifting and resisting arrest without violence. The total value of the stolen merchandise on him was $766. On October 27th, 2023 in Ohio, the cops received a call from a local gas station reporting that a woman was shoplifting and then fled on foot. As the cops patrolled the area, they quickly spotted a woman matching the description of the suspect. Hi. Might as well stop. Oh my goodness. Just stop. Stop. Cuz you took the food from the store. I just took some crackers. Yeah, I know. You can't do that. Huh? You can't do that. Okay, man. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. No. She touched my man. Stop. Stop. You breaking my hand. Put your hands behind your back. Put your hands behind your back. Stop. You don't have You ain't even set my right nobody. Don't do it. GET ON THE GROUND. PUT ON THE GROUND. IN THE GROUND. OKAY. OKAY. OKAY. GET ON THE GROUND. GET ON YOUR STOMACH. OKAY. I'M SORRY. GET ON YOUR STOMACH NOW. PULL OVER. OKAY. OKAY. OKAY. I want to do it again. PLEASE. PLEASE. STOP. STOP. STOP. STOP. PLEASE. TURN ON YOUR STOMACH. OKAY. TURN ON YOUR STOMACH. OKAY. SIR. SIR. SIR. PLEASE. I have lupus and I have a pacemaker. Turn over. I have a pacemaker. TURN OVER NOW. OKAY. ON YOUR STOMACH. OKAY. On your stomach. Go get up. I'm not running. The woman claimed that a female staff member at the gas station had touched her inappropriately. Even if that were the case, she still had no right to steal anything. Either way, she was going to have a lot of explaining to do. Serge 32 supervisor. Female been tased. Ouch. Please. All right, roll over. Please take that off. It hurts. Take what off? That thing is pulling me. Well, it's not connected to you anymore. Okay. Okay. Can I take All right. Stand up. We can. You should have pulled away and pushed off of me and ran from me. You scared me. I scared you. Okay. Okay. Listen. The lady. I have a food pro. You can [snorts] use 862 uh forest court. Sir, walk down here. Ow. Is still something on me? Yeah, I know there is. It's called a probe. Walk. All right. What do you get? Let's spoon, sir. Can I Okay. You can't steal. I I wasn't stealing it. Did you pay for it? She touched my She went in the bathroom. I was in the bathroom. Sir, listen. Have a seat. Okay. The officer explained that her story wouldn't excuse her stealing and that it was a terrible idea to run from him. If she was telling the truth, she should have been eager to report the assault to the officer. She did, however, admit she was hungry. Oh, so what you're saying is it's okay for you to steal. No, I have money to pay for it. Then why didn't you? CUZ SHE TOUCHED MY AND THEN YOU COULD have just dropped the food then, couldn't you? You're a grown adult. I took the chance cuz I wanted to eat. Okay. You have your ID in here? No. [screaming] Sir, you don't have your ID? No, sir. Then what's your name? What's your name? Tyler. Huh? Tyler. Ow. My finger. What's your So, I don't have my So, my mom still carries it. I don't carry that stuff, man. Okay. How old are you? I'm 25. You're 25? You want to know your own social security number? No, sir. I have dementia. Okay. Paul, spell your first name. Although the woman claimed that her first name was Tyler, she failed to provide the officer a last name. During questioning, more officers arrived on scene. She tried every excuse in the book to talk her way out of the charges. From inappropriate touching and having a pacemaker to also claiming she had lupus and dementia. Do you have dementia or you just want to lie to me? I seriously got up and up in the memory loss. Okay. Yeah. I don't Ow. So, what's your name? Get it. Get it. Get it. Get it. Get it. Come on. Get it. Come on. Get that. Get that. This ain't helping. I know it's not helping. You should have helped yourself by just stopping. So, the lady comes in the bathroom. I'm not done. I'm not even done shopping. Whole out. Pants on ground. She comes in there. My bag is in between my legs. She goes in between my legs and start grabbing the stuff. I said, "Lady, I'm not even done shopping. Food and half of this not even hers. All I got was crackers and cookies from that and went in there and she has the right to walk in the bathroom with my grocer." Oh my god. Between your legs. I had my bag because I was using the bathroom in the gas station. She comes in there and grabs me my own. And then what happened after that? I walked out cuz I'm I'm pissed. Whether or not she was telling the truth, we got to hand it to her. She's a hell of a storyteller. Next, the officer searched her bag. In addition to a ton of food, it was bursting with needles, which the suspect claimed were for various medications. I I I I shoot a lot of medications. These are all for your medication. Yeah. For what? I got ADHD, dementia. They don't take meals for that. Well, you I meant my medication cuz I like to get there fast, you know. Oh, come on. That's not that big of a deal. I'm not a big deal because this could have been seen summoning all this extra stuff. You're being way too extra. I'm It could be a sermon, man. I don't want any Whoa. He looks like my cousin. You look just like my cousin Paul. Are you her cousin? He looks like Paul. So, okay, wait a minute. I can tell you what food is hers and what food ain't hers. The donuts hers, the cookies, and the nutter butters hers. Everything else belongs to me. Okay, now the lady comes in. She totally threw me off. I came to look. Food stamp card right there. Boom. The officer pressed the suspect once again to identify herself, but it was clear the woman was being deceptive. She also claimed that she couldn't provide officers with her social because she forgot it due to her supposed dementia. She's got an ID that doesn't belong to her. She has a food stamp card. Doesn't belong to her. That was on the ground. Oh, yeah. So, we just picked these up. It's a minor. So, I was going to return that to get Oh, is that right? Yeah. Why? I didn't use your name. I don't know what the name is. Well, I don't know what name you are. Oh, wait. Clard, put that back. No. Uhuh. That's for the phone. Don't matter. It's not yours. I got permission to use that. Okay. Whose name's on here? I don't know. Oh, there you go. I got it from him. What is your name? Because we're not We're done playing this nonsense cuz I'll send you to J to the county. You will sit there and rot until you tell them your name. You understand me? We're not doing this. You can be in and out real quick if you just give us your name and your information. If you want to play games, I will send their there's Jane Doe and you will rot all weekend. I guarantee you will start feeling the itch when you are in there. I don't want to go to jail. Okay, I know you don't want to go to jail. We're beyond that. You could not have gone to jail if you just would have stopped right there and let me put handcuffs on you, but you did not want to do that. All right, that's not how things are done. What is your name? This is where you talk. My name is Dar. There you go. What's your last name? What's your last name? Come on, man. Come on. Although she provided the officers with another first name, she still didn't give her surname. After she was escorted to the back of the squad car, she continued to deny that the needles were for illicit drug use, claiming instead she used them for an old anxiety medication that was stolen. Next, the officers went back to the gas station to hear their side of the story. Uh, I said, "Well, I'm going to come in if you don't come out." Yeah. And so I went in with my key and and then she she didn't have her pants down at first, right? And then she pulled them down and she said, "Get out." And then I started taking my stuff out of her bag. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? I'm like cuz I know, you know, and then when and then she had pan, get out here, weirdo. And then she proceeded to shove me and I kind of went back, you know, and it took everything in me. I'm major here, so I can't like Yeah. You know, and I know they tell us not to confront them, but it's like I I get tired of it. I got I agree with you 100%. So, but I don't want her back in my store. Well, she's going to jail because she took off running for me and much other nonsense. But Okay. Either way, um the other officers I don't know. Can you guys put these back in the shelf or? Yeah, as long as she ain't got them open. The donuts I can't, right? But with this stuff, I can. Before loading the suspect into the back of a police van to transport the woman to jail, she told them all that they couldn't arrest her because they didn't have her name. But as the cop said earlier, if she just cooperated, she could have simply received a court summon. What's your name? What's your name, man? Step on, please. I didn't get to eat my food. They take everything from me. All right. Scoot up. All right. Just follow what I say. Okay. I didn't resist. They never even said right. Okay. You have the right Now you tell me that after y'all tased me. You don't have to say anything make any statements. You can stop talking. We're here right now. You don't have to say a word. All right. Get your screen. All right. You'll be all right. Mhm. You're going right over there. You're going to step on the metal detector. The suspect was charged with resisting arrest, misrepresenting her identity, obstructing official business, theft, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was sentenced to 270 days in jail with 244 days [music] suspended. On December 17th, 2021, officers responded to a target location due to a shoplifting incident. The suspects were known for a previous felony theft just one day before. Surveillance captured the group filling a cart to the brim, unaware they were being recorded the whole time as the officers lay in wait. Hi. Okay, so we're just going to hang here. We do have three shoplifterss inside. Two black females, one black male. Um, she thinks they're getting ready to head up to the front. They're loading everything that they've selected into one cart. Probably getting ready to head up to the front. Um, she's just going to let me know when they pass all points of sale and when they're headed out. And she'll let me know which side they're going to. Right, Gabby? You'll let me know which side they're going to. Okay. Okay. All right. She thinks one of them might be coming out before the rest of them. So, she'll let me know about that. But they're still loading up right now. I'm pretty sure she did. She came in, grabbed a cart, and headed straight down that front. So, if all else fails, we can just identify them go from there. Y'all said that they did this yesterday as well. Yeah. And one of the women in here actually just left not too long ago. Um, but is it just you at the moment? At the moment it's just one. We have two more units coming. Two more units coming. Just one right now. With the loss prevention team member, the officers waited out front for the suspects to leave the store. She informed the officer that he might need backup considering there were three suspected shoplifterss. Catching one suspect should be easy enough, but catching three of them, well, that's another story. Coming out of the exit now. right there. Okay. The guy pushing the toys. I got a receipt. You have a receipt? Let me see. Yeah, I have it right here. Traffic one. Got one running. Brown shoes, gray pants, blue t-shirt toward him. Where's he at? Just jumped into a gray sedan. All right, we're in I'm coming in the side parking lot. Charlie, Quebec Romeo 7472. Although patrol units scoured the scene for the suspect, eventually they discontinued their pursuit. Back in the store, the female suspect attempted to evade being captured by changing shirt, but unbeknownst to the woman, she was being watched by loss prevention the entire time. Are you sure she was with them, but she has put on a new shirt? This one? Yes. All right. I don't have like I'm gonna turn off my lights that comes back to 2122 Mexico Street. Hey, you got ID on you? First name is walk back up here. What? Wait, I ain't getting out with you. You get your hands off me. You're a known shoplifter. Oh, give me your hand. Hands up. I can walk with you. Don't get it. Give me your hand. The officer escorted the woman back into Target and straight to the loss prevention department. Throughout her embarrassing perp walk, the woman denied any involvement in the shoplifting whatsoever. Unfortunately for her though, the surveillance cameras would prove otherwise. Can you pull that shirt off the sales floor? That's fine. They'll be able to watch video. So many people the other girl got away. Go ahead. Have a seat on the bench over there. What's your last name? Myself 2110 to jail. Be taken to jail. Okay. So you you'll just sit in jail until you are identified. Okay. So you'll be booked under Jane Doe. Okay. Just so you know, you're refusing to provide your information is another charge. It's called obstruction by hindering. It's called what? Obstruction by hindering. And what is that? It's you not providing me with your information that you are required by law to provide. Just take me to jail. What's your last name? Simmons. Simmons. Spell that. You can't spell Simmons. How do you spell it? Simmons. How I spell it everywhere. Is it one M? Two M's? Two M. 20 M's. While the woman continued playing dumb and being as unhelpful as humanly possible, the officers and the loss prevention team got to work tallying up the total cost of the items the thieves attempted to steal. And y'all didn't charge me with that. I didn't walk out with no buggy. No, she helped at least. I did not have nothing. Nothing. Okay, you can argue with the courts about it. I will. I was so far. I was by the precinct. I was like I'm going to log in. It's okay. She provided me with a name and date of birth. All right, we'll check it and make sure. That's my name. Okay. Well, we're just going to double check it. There's stuff in the bag, too. Uh, there's stuff in the bag. B A K. What? I'm sorry. C Y A. It looked like these thieves were planning on doing their Christmas shopping completely free of charge. After running the woman's name through the system, the cops took note that this wasn't the suspect's first brush with the law for similar offenses. Oh, look. Shoplifting. That was why she didn't want to give me information. I got her social and all that stuff here, too, if you need it. Oh, and by the way, you do have a state issue driver's license. Or at least you did at one point. You weren't social. I'm out of ambigu. It should be attached to the warrant. Oh, it should be fine. I've got it here. 800 774 874. Yes. Submit my phone and evidence instead cuz you're coordinating conspiracy of a crime. Through what? Through your cell phone. I believe your cell phone has information regarding the people that you're helping steal and shoplifting. Well, it's the iPhone. Y'all can't get that. Whatever. Okay, you go ahead and shut it off. That way they can't wipe it. The woman was charged with felony theft by shoplifting and obstruction by hindering. The cops later discovered that she had two outstanding felony warrants. In total, she'd stolen over $5,000 worth of merchandise. Let these cases be a warning. No criminal out there should think they can break the law without consequences. Because just when you think you've gotten away with it, you never know when the cops are waiting just around the corner to bust you.
