I need your ID I don't have an ID what's your name I'm not giving it to you I'm going to put your hands behind your back I'm going to arrest you I don't know what your problem is my problem is guess what I'm clear right I've lived here my entire life I want your name there'll be a complaint filed I guarantee you you know what if you're going to file a complaint we'll just charge you stay in there huh I got a CR I'm a detective yeah and I'm here helping him so step the off hey check that out I stopped to help somebody been shot I'm getting arrested nobody's perfect not even the bravest and most upright police officers they too make mistakes sometimes despite their best intentions problem for them is because of their body cams their wrongdoings are often recorded not your fault pal I'm not mad at you I just actually got angry because he was yelling at me for no reason at all I'm just trying to help somebody and the footage becomes public record what you're about to see today is not only a collection of these instances but also ones that feature unlikely Heroes who for the most part got cuffs instead of compliments while they were trying to detain a suspect our next team of officers encountered an unlikely hero the male suspect had been spotted carrying a weapon moments prior so they wanted to make sure he wouldn't be out on the streets with a potentially dangerous device his friend however is one of those people who just can't help but do good even if they're in a bit of trouble with the police department Police Department police make yourself known hey come back here what's his name this woman in red is the suspect's companion who happened to be a lifeguard on duty and was saving a life stop Polie go go go go drop the up Taser Taser Taser officers eventually got a hold of the man and placed him in handcuffs you have to admire the very fashionable and matching outfit sure but it would soon be dragged to the ground that's because the suspect wouldn't stop resisting the cops they eventually asked for his name and learned that he was called Ranger get on your face stomach I [Music] got quit reaching I got broken back H can you me name is this not good one the team of officers decided that one of his friends nearby needed to be apprehended too but she was a bit more Cooperative her name was Chastity and she was less concerned about her getting arrested and more worried about a man she'd recently seen lying unconscious under a bridge nearby you see Chastity was a lifeguard and she was all too familiar with these types of encounters pull all the bags down down where where's theity I don't know he had it in his hand I know put yours down this is all his and there's a Dude down underneath the bridge won't wake up I'm trying to wake him up he won't wake up we're going to need a medic here as well there may be an OD Jesse go go to my cruiser now okay no I just I walk down through here see D laying down there from my cruiser I know I'm going I'm going I just my phone on the hill but now4 I just walked up behind the foot bridge and exactly where we were last time y put put down I'm in round two do you need 62 not this time going respond 62 and then just walk my your back currently chassis we got to figure figure this out and there's play seeing as she was calm and Cooperative the officer decided to trust the information provided by Chastity and went on to investigate under the bridge Chastity was telling the truth under the bridge there was an unconscious person lying on the Rocks whose breathing was becoming more and more shallow cops are trained for these types of situations as well so he went on to provide the medication he had on hand hey partner you all right 953 953 go ahead this is com in is it going to be another 73 or a 74 patient go be now sending an additional Med Battalion one and engine two have already been dispatched one thing in norc and administer I still don't have the it's going to be a hey partner got to get him another another dose after the second dose of the medicine was administered another officer arrived at the location she was a bit more Hands-On when it came to maneuvering the unconscious individual but for a moment there everything seemed lost sure an ambulance was on its way too but in these cases the difference between life and death can merely be a couple of seconds so the stems behind your left fo so watch out for that the front foil should be on the right side he has a cell phone in his pocket I think that's going to be possibly have his ID no this isn't going to hey hey hey hey bud open his eyes there you got knife on [Music] you hey there we are good morning oh maybe hey hello hello how are you he just started that he's waking up a little bit Yeah administered two two doses all right Chester we'll get him up there before we do anything he's starting to wake up thankfully the man under the bridge regained Consciousness and was awake and alert by the time the ambulance came to pick him up if it hadn't been for chody and her Keen sense of observation there's no telling if the man would have survived with the cuffs on she had no means of physically helping anyone but at least she gave the important information to officers kind of getting to wake up and stuff you know what I'm saying he wasn't waking up why are you in C oh he just me for a second so you get down and check that guy make sure he was okay and plus talk to about okay they're right on right at the edge uh officer Pierce is with yeah like I literally just walked up CU it started raining and I walked up sorry for my language and he was laying down there and I was like hey I didn't want to touch him because you know what I mean I'm not sure if he was supposed to do that or not but um I kept saying hey D Hey cuz he was sitting up when I first came up here the Lifeguard also gave cops crucial information about their initial suspect Ranger that wasn't even his real name by the way which as you might presumed by now already means he'd gotten a whole new charge his real name turned out to be Matt and on that note let's get back to him for a second to see if he eventually calmed down I'm ask told you three times to get in the car want medical assistance you guys can't do give me medical assistance there's another can you see that the suspect Matthew earned himself quite the collection of charges at the end of the day he was accused of resisting obstructing and falsification he was sentenced to 90 days in jail for two of those charges a $25 fine and 2 years probation as for Chastity seeing as she was cooperative seems like she shouldn't have gotten into a lot of trouble with law enforcement and either way she definitely saved a life that day a cop from the Centralia Police Department was clearly in the wrong when it came to this next respectable gentleman officer Billy White was called to a location near some railroad tracks a person most likely an intoxicated one was reportedly found on the ground and was awaiting medical assistance a man and his young daughter had parked their car near by and waited for authorities to show up after which they were hoping to leave peacefully there's a couple people out here and a vehicle stopped I don't know what happened we was driving by the man's man here he said somebody hit him with the car he's obviously been drinking but he needs some help so I didn't want to leave until somebody got here I appreciate you and when you came here you didn't see anybody else around you know what there was a white vehicle on the tracks and I think they saw him about the same time we did but they went on but you didn't see a vehicle around or anything like that okay his head why don't you guys go ahead and pull up to give room for the ambulance go on we just wait I need your information real quick what information just your information real quick give me one second information can you you just pull the vehicle up for a second the man later identified as Aaron Flanigan didn't think he had any reason to provide information to the officer as he'd been involved in no crime all he wanted to do was to make sure the person lying on the ground would be properly taken care of before he could take off with his daughter what he didn't expect was officer White's reaction you have your ID on you no I do not why are you yelling at me whenever I'm because you're not listen you're not listening I'm trying to get the ambulance here so we can get off the railroad track we're going home I need your ID I don't have an ID what's your name I'm not giving it to you I'm gonna put your hands behind your back I'm going to arrest you god let's make everything difficult please you want to go sit in the county jail because you want to be an idiot I don't have an ID on me just like no you don't want to give me your name so you said arrest you so good Lord let's make difficult makes sense I want to see your supervisor put him put him in your car Pat him down and put him in your car yes you have obstructing Justice another officer tried to get Aaron's perspective on the whole situation and you have to admit the man's explanation does make a lot more sense than that of the officer he hadn't been belligerent and he didn't raise his voice while speaking to the cop on the contrary all he wanted to do was go home which was all the more important for him since he was accompanied by his young daughter well what happened what happened there I don't know we pulled up and the guy's laying in the middle of the road so we called 911 witness asked me for ID which I told him I do not have and I haven't been I haven't been suspected of committing a crime what's your name it's Aaron okay but there's absolutely no reason to ID me when I haven't done anything I'm just trying to help a guy um whenever you called about it did you I didn't even call oh my daughter called I was out there with a man I'm sitting in cuffs because your guys supervisor out here by the way get your he's he's out here all right go ahead that's why people record this stuff you know that right the fact that he was detained is a bit of an exaggerated reaction by many standards but hey at least Aaron was being physically Cooperative he didn't refuse to go to the police car and wasn't at all aggressive with either officer white or the rest of the cops who had arrived at the location the irritated cop went back to talk to ain's daughter and as you'd imagine because of this situation she was a bit distressed who is this guy to you Ma'am who is he to you he's my dad why is he acting like this when I'm trying to get people off the railroad tracks for safety reasons sir I'm sorry I just need to know who we are that's all I'm doing I just asking him for his name and he don't want to give it to me we were just trying to get this man ma'am I appreciate that but at the same time why cause one problem when we're trying to fix another you know what I'm saying C copy 28 of a witness after another brief interaction with Aaron officer white muted his body cam he went on to speak with the rest of his team about the situation but you have to admit it's a bit suspicious that he chose this particular time to press the mute button he might have simply wanted to vent a bit with his colleagues but since no one could hear their conversation it only put the officer in a bad light and made him look abusive Aon I don't know why you'd want to go do a good deed and not help me try to just get everybody out of here in a safe area you started yelling at me with the bad deal right off the bat so apparently you don't know what it's like to do this job I don't don't want to I get that but I'm I'm trying to I'm trying to make it safe for everybody showing up here so we're not on railroad tracks get the chip off your shoulder pal there's no reason to be rude oh no listen time can kill somebody do you understand that I'm not mad why are you time can I'm not mad why you keep yelling at me then time I'm not yelling not right now time can kill somebody the matter of seconds can kill somebody I have no idea what happened to him no more than you do I understand that I'm trying to get people off the railroad tracks and I'm trying to go home I just St to help the guy then just help me get to the end I owe you anything I don't know what your problem is my problem is guess what I'm clear right I've lived here my entire life I want your name your card it's Billy White my badge number is 4 9 cuz there'll be a complaint filed I guarantee you you know what if you're going to file a complaint we'll just charge you stay in there Char we'll give you something we'll give you something to file a complain on at this point the officer clearly took it personally too bad for him that by the time this part of their conversation took place his body cam was not on mute anymore Aaron went on to discuss the whole situation with the officer who was instructed to take him to the police station he was probably hoping this one would be a bit more understanding you know it's right well I I got to take you up there I guess I know it's not your fault pal I'm not mad at you I just actually got angry because he was yelling at me for no reason at all I'm just trying to help somebody I'm clear I'm valid I got nothing against me and I've been here all my life in centr Illinois same house for 20 years pal but I don't have to put up with somebody yelling at me when I'm trying to help somebody and that's what it amounts to he got aggressive with me he's yelling he's demanding things and I don't have to give him anything I've committed no crime here B can you get by or now so take me to the police station what's he going to charge me with what crime is he charging me with do you know I I I don't know yet that's cuz there was no crime pal you know that5 no crime I wasn't impeding an investigation I don't know any more about it than you guys do Aaron's rant went on and he probably had a lot of things to say to the driving officer it's important to note though that the alleged suspect is obviously doing his best to contain himself he makes sure to use appropriate language to express his frustration never using defamatory words and never raising his tone Aaron understood he was in a delicate situation and everything he might have said could have been used against him there was no lawful commands given because I wasn't Under Suspicion of a crime nor was I under the suspicion of committing a crime there was no reason for him to be aggressive with me at all and he was still aggressive at the car so he said if I'm going to file a report against him he's going to charge me that's why we're going to the police station now see you guys can't be all all bad man God you just can't be I have a hard time believing that you all act like that I understand that you're going to do what your partner says you know your buddy but bottom line is it's definitely against my constitutional rights and I've committed no crime at all and you guys took an oath to uphold constitutional rights did you not yep and you're breaking mine now I've done nothing and you know that once they made it to the station Aaron was reunited with officer white they each tried to express their points of view but they can't seem to find any Common Ground however Aaron hasn't been discharged by the police just yet so he still needs to make sure that nothing he does can be transformed into a charge of some sort yes all right have a SE one I got here no you can sit up here Aon my name is Billy White by the way I think I know you actually I think we might have went to school together we did High School I did what year did you graduate oh what was it 91 I think that was my brother my brother graduated yeah with you I graduated in 95 Aaron listen I've done this for 22 years it is a state law okay if this guy wakes up I'm covering you and I'm covering me you know what you know as much as I did he was laying on the ground buddy I understand that but you got to follow me real quick quick I I don't plan on charging you just so you know I'm going to cut you out of here in about 30 seconds all I'm telling you is he wakes up and says that white car hit me don't you want me to be able to establish who was in the car from my standpoint I can understand I I have I have to Aon listen I have to by state law I have to know who you are I have to know who's reporting it he might wake up and say this guy in this white car got out and hit me I can say I talked to this guy this guy the caller I can say that there was nothing if you're avoiding me by this point officer white probably started sensing he was in the wrong he was probably hoping Aaron would misbehave in one way or another and that there would be enough motive to arrest him for good it didn't work out that way though as Aaron kept his composure during the entire conversation he was firm but polite I respect what you do and I appreciate what if you do then you'll get where I don't owe you anything when I show up you actually do by state law I hate to say that but I have show me the law then show me the law where Illinois says that you have to ID when a cop shows up on a on a crime potential crime scene accident scene whatever it is I have the right to know who's there I want to see the law where it says I have that right I want to see the law can I not see it can you not pull it up can you not pop it on your phone and say Aaron FL here's the law so next time I will know it's case law if you want to wait here long enough for me to go research it and pull it up I'll do it no so you should already have that right oh you oh you want to use argue man I don't want to argue I just want you to know that people have a right I'm tell you what the lawal right I'm telling you what the law is listen I'm telling you what a lawyer I mean you know this for a fact see like I like I said all just let me go all right you're no you're you're free to go all you want to do is argue so that's that's obvious Aon was let go eventually and he most likely made it home safely with his daughter public records show that he did file a lawsuit against the Centralia police department at some point back in 2021 as for officer white also as of 2021 he's known to be retired from service most parents go to extreme links to protect their young children from danger even if you're a dog lover if you see an angry Kine running towards your six-year-old there's no telling what you might do I'll spare you the unnecessary anxiety though after it was all said and done in this next Story the kid was okay and the dog was also doing just fine but it did lead to a man getting arrested for absolutely no reason s you think we set the dog over here on purpose it happens all the time she lets it out okay we're trying to deal with it take it easy it's not going to take it easy my child's get chased by a p Chase your kid you see what happens hey man take it easy it's wrong man to have your kids and be the same way put your hands up officers from Daytona Beach Police Department were dispatched to this man's neighborhood after receiving a mental health distress call one of his neighbors was checked by the police but as they were entering her property her Pitbull was able to escape the premises chasing Our Hero's six-year-old daughter the officers heard the alarming shouts of the man trying to scare off the seemingly dangerous dog the animal had already reached the man's property and he had secured his child back up on the porch sure the dog might have just wanted to play but there's no way of telling with these types of animals which can sometimes be larger than a child the man had no idea police were patrolling the area if he did he might have even asked for their help in containing the potentially aggressive pet these cops decided to directly arrest The Man Without investigating why he was agitated in the first place hold on justra my back you got anybody El yeah I've code for for the second here got anything on you anything in your pockets this protect father decided to play at cool and didn't fight back against these cops excessive Behavior even as he was being read his rights he kept calm and intentionally chose to not answer any of their questions it probably became clear to them that whatever he might have said the officers could have used it as leverage justifying their unnecessary arrest the cops boiled it down to the fact that the man had a gun on him during their interaction but in his defense he never touched it it turned out to be a legally owned firearm that the man had probably just taken out of the house to protect his child just in case in case the situation with the Pitbull got out of hand you feel like it was going towards you or well I mean you don't you don't know what you do why did you tap your daddy on the shoulder I mean Zer was at the dog but then you know police officer sitting right here why did you [Music] run mother's coming here now so it was going to attack you kid is uh he it ever ran after you before she's on her way six-year-old daughter I know we ran look at your dad Paisley he's in handcuff the little girl's father also insisted that his wife didn't speak with the officers either once she'd arrived at their home he knew how these accusations would go down if they just kept calm and didn't interact with the police and he was right in doing so as after a month all the charges against him were dropped on the other hand he did Express his eagerness at one point to file a lawsuit against the same people who were supposed to protect him obviously they had violated his rights that summer day for no justifiable reason after you've worked as a firefighter for many years I guess it's hard to fight that urge to help even after you're not in service anymore that was the case of retired firefighter Joseph garus who in the fall of 20120 was driving around when he noticed a person lying face up in a parking lot as soon as he figured out the victim was was surrounded by a pool of blood he immediately started doing CPR it was only when the Santa Paula Police Department made it to the scene that things went downhill stay over here stay over here stay over here come over here that's your car that's my car I was driving by I saw I'm a reti instuction I'm not a part of this we don't know anything about that we see a gun in the car you're not going here do you have your idea it's in the car what's your name Joe garus Joe garus you got you got to relax okay we know you're helping us out wait but you got aren't listening either that's part of the problem so I said we appreciate you being involved okay we just run that's his knife I took it out of his pocket to cut his shirt off and that's your vehicle yeah I was driving north I saw the lady they were looking this way and I saw him down and I thought he was beer or something spun around and came in saw the blood she said they were calling 911 I screamed has he's been shot she said yeah why I was pulling in okay saw the gunshot wound to the side of his face um I did a quick check found the gun in his waistband rendered it useless stuck it inside my car grabbed his knife cut off his shirt and then you guys started showing okay Mr garus did look a bit agitated that's true but mind you he' just given assistance to someone who'd been Gravely wounded he explained everything he'd done in detail and made sure the area was Secure he also appeared willing to provide any additional information required the officer whose voice you can hear in the background is Detective Chris Rivera and let's just say the following footage doesn't shine the best light on him huh S I got a CR yeah and I'm here helping him so step the off okay if you're a good detective you wouldn't be yell at me right now you'd be taking care of your job you I can't get the out of here out CRI get out of my crime seat what you going to do to me get out of my crime seat I'm going to make you next time get out of my crime come with me Mr gar Mr garus come with me Mr garcis another officer then took Mr garus outside the perimeter of the scene you see officers do have the authority to secure a crime scene to make sure there's no additional Damage Done by the public but this retired firefighter was more than just a bystander he'd become a crucial witness and more so he was a man who knew procedure very well so cooperating with him would be beneficial in any other circumstance yeah your get C that's how you act no wonder if people don't give you guys the benefit of the doubt and I work with you mother for 27 years when do I get my car back then hey tell them thank you for teaching me not to be helpful you fat piece you have to stay back step back step back step back step back step back I don't know who you're so now you're going to come over with me huh you're doing a really good job right now aren't you I need you to back up you need to calm him I need you to back up here I got I got him I got him come here really the pain compliance that's what we need to do like being what his again officers can use Force against a citizen but they need to be reasonable in using this prerogative Mr G narcis gave no reason to be perceived as dangerous more so he wasn't even resisting arrest for him to be in that position detective Rivera would have needed to inform him beforehand that he was being detained and that didn't happen either where's your badge in my Jeep like I keep saying but you w listen we're at in your je and you will see it when you look at your car do you want me to have to ride a search war and keep it or do you want to keep your car do you want to get home as soon as possible I'm not talking anymore okay sink uh sink in uh right 64 what's your first name Joe Joe hey check that out I stopped to help somebody been shot I'm getting arrested um have a seat for a second just so you know I'm retired because of PTSD got it major anxiety problems got it being in handcuffs doesn't help me I know you guys got to do it keep away for me you got it he is accelerating this way more than I am I won't let him talk to you anymore you want the windows down or anything how can we just sit right here with me the door open I ain't going anywhere dude you guys all know where I am here for now I mean I know what you guys do I mean I did it with you for 27 years in are not Santa Paul to have that happen that's as unprofessional as anything I did and a cop shouldn't lose a like that you both you and I both know that threatening a witness with a warrant to search their car can be considered abusive by now Mr garus had given up and refused to further interact with Detective Rivera however when it came to the other cops he had no problem cooperating with them this shows that like most people all he wanted was to be treated with respect absolutely hey C can we get some decontamination for a guy in the back of the car here he was doing CPR got blood on him I I got the fire cap to come over to deamination I don't know I've been standing over here this the one that needs decontaminated cap he has blood on him yeah he's he's actually witnessing but he was doing CPR when we came up and had to where's the blood on him do I don't know probably on his hands Mr was detained for about 15 minutes after which he was told to leave his interaction with Detective Rivera that day meant that this retired firefighter needed to undergo surgery unfortunately for a dislocated shoulder though no charges were filed against Mr garus he did file a federal lawsuit against detective Rivera and the City of Santa Paula claiming his civil rights had been violated the case is still pending as for the victim found bleeding on the ground he survived the injury probably due to Mr gara's Swift and proper intervention not all Heroes wear capes and walk around using futuristic gadgets you might find them running around in hospitals protecting patients or doing CPR on the streets to protect people they've never met before others will go to extreme links to protect their children even going as far as getting arrested for it as for our hostile list of officers today there's a lesson to be learned from them too doing your job should never imply treating people disrespectfully we hope you enjoyed this video
