Hey, he's jumping NOW. I'M GOING TO TASE YOU. I'm going to tase you. Tit down. >> Listen. Listen to me. All right. I don't I think you're I think you're a nice girl. I think you made a mistake. >> I [laughter] did. I don't want to get touched in jail, bro. Every thief has a reason for stealing. It might be because they can't afford necessities or they might do it just for the thrill of it. Whatever the case, it doesn't excuse the crime. Some of these kleptos get good at their vice while some of them don't quite master it. And these rookie shoplifterss eventually learn a very hard lesson from the police. What the I did that. >> She's 18. Are you stupid? >> Guys, quit it. >> She's 18. Stupid. >> On the 21st of August, 2024, the cops responded to a Target store after reports of two young women trying to steal. For these thieves, the main item of focus was jewelry, though they did attempt to steal some other items. When the officers arrived, the women were already in the loss prevention office. >> Hey, how's it going? How's it going? Um, so these two young ladies here took everything you see here. Let me grab it for you. Here's the itemized receipt of what was taken. So essentially they came in, went to the jewelry section, grabbed all that, put it inside of this bag that she was carrying in the white shirt. Um, which bag? [clears throat] >> This one here. >> One that says the tote bag on it. And then moved over to like health and beauty, grabbed this shampoo and like these hair clip things. Went and grabbed these. All that stuff went into that same bag. They tried to bypass them to sale. Stopped them. escort him back here. Cold you guys. >> Okay. Do you guys have IDs? >> You don't have none of you have IDs on you at all? >> No. >> How old are you? >> 17. >> 18. You >> 17. >> Despite the suspects having no IDs, the cops identified the 18-year-old as Adriana Ortiz and the younger female's identity was kept private since she's a minor. Both young women seemed rather worried about the consequences of their actions. What's that? >> We'll have to conduct an investigation. >> We'll get like trespassing. >> That's not how this works. >> I don't know. We have to conduct an investigation. >> What did y'all y'all wrote the law, right? >> Yeah. >> And we got called here. So, we have to conduct an investigation. >> We just get trespassed. >> Let's go talk. >> We just get trespassed. >> We have to figure out what's going to happen. We have to take conduct investigation. We have to watch the video. We went to talk to the employees here. We have to talk to you guys and then we'll make a determination. >> While one officer stayed in the room with the young thieves, the other officer went in the office with the loss prevention employee to review the security footage of the girl stealing. >> So, who's who was holding the bag the whole time? >> The uh the girl on the white. >> Okay. Who was taking the items? >> Both. >> Cool. >> Both selecting them. Both putting them in the purse. >> Yeah. >> So, what do y'all want to do? We're going to prosecute both and chest test. All right. >> So, you'll see they'll grab 14 or 15 items here. The girl in the white conceals and then the other one conceals there. And that was the last thing they selected. They kind of walked around the grocery department for a little bit. Like they even looked at like dairy stuff like butter and stuff, but they never grabbed anything else. >> Cool. Marijuana prosecute. >> While the Target store wanted to prosecute them both, the officers first had to question the suspects as a part of the investigation. To start with, the cops read both girls their Miranda writes and escorted the younger girl out of the room to question Adriana alone. >> So, tell me what happened. Why did you guys come here? >> Okay, we came here because um I wanted to have a birthday and I wanted to sleep at her house. So, then we went to the pool first. That's where we all went. And then tonight, >> you're good. You can keep talking. [music] >> We came to Target. Uh she wanted body wash. And then she wanted the chips and I said we should leave. Like this is >> but I know it's wrong. >> So talk to me about all these items in here. >> So there should be some matches. >> You bought it or you >> No, I those like >> I'm sorry. >> I picked those. >> Okay. So, why didn't you pay for it? >> I don't honestly know. I know I should have, but >> So, if you if I asked you to stand up right now and point at all these items you stole, would you be able to do that that you did and not hurt? >> Uh, probably not because we I think we got the same things. >> Okay. So, you guys were both like >> uh me and it's all around and we also share a lot. Have you ever done like something like this before or >> you know first time? >> Adriana went on to explain that the robbery wasn't necessarily planned. It just kind of happened. She told the officers they came to Target for some body wash and jewelry and not to steal. Next up, it was time for the cops to question the younger thief as well. >> So, let me hear your side of the story. Why Why did you guys come here? >> Well, we came to the jewelry just like the fish because like I don't want it to get anymore. >> What' you need it for? >> For me so I can wear it. >> Just just to have it. >> Yeah. >> I got all gold cuz I like to wear gold and I have these and I just It's not I wanted >> So did you come in here with the intent to not pay for it? Well, no, but like I kind of like I like coming in here. I might like like look at it and try and want it, but no. >> But you said you didn't have any money to buy it. >> Yeah, I thought I had $2. >> Okay. Whose idea was it to come here? >> Nobody's idea. It >> was nobody's idea. You guys just showed up here? >> We come to Target all the time. So, you just you were going to come hang out? >> Yeah. A lot of people walk around here. We were going to meet her boyfriend here, too. >> Well, ex-boyfriend. >> The 17-year-old acknowledged that it was her first time stealing. When asked what her motivation was, she told the officers that since she was now a senior in high school, she needed some jewelry because she thought it would make her look nicer. All right. So, can you turn around and put your hands on your back, please? >> Being placed under arrest for petty theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. >> Am I getting arrested? >> Yes. [snorts] >> For petty theft and contributing to a felony. >> It's not good. >> What does that mean? That >> means you charge with her and she's a minor. >> A felony is a more severe charge than a misdemeanor. You're being charged with both. So, it's not good. Any prior theft convictions? Listen. Listen to me. All right. I don't I think you're I think you're a nice girl. I think you made a mistake. >> I [laughter] did. I don't want to get touched in jail, bro. >> Listen to what I'm saying. [gasps] >> Can you listen? >> Yes. >> Okay. As long as you do as you're told and you don't do anything silly, it's going to be smooth. >> Adriana, come right here. >> 4.0, bro. >> Okay. [laughter] >> That's my problem. I don't know what goes on in jail. I don't want to touch my nose. I really >> Okay. Well, as long as you behave and you don't [snorts] do anything runchy, you'll be all good. >> I'm going to apply you to you have to become a pediatric nurse. >> Did you already apply? >> I was going to. >> Well, on your application, it's going to ask if you ever been arrested or charged or convicted of any crime, and they're going to have to disclose that. If you lie and they do a background investigation, then you'll be disqualified from any application. Soon after, a female officer arrived to search Adriana before securing her in the back of a squad car. The officers then called the younger girl's parents to come and pick her up, but escorting the young girl out was a rather annoying task for them. >> She was caught u stealing some items, >> jewelry, and snacks and such. She's at the Target here on 100 in Palm Coast. Are you able to come get her? >> Uh, yes. We're on our way. >> All right, let's go. Let's go. >> I'm going to grab my >> Go or I escort you. Oh, well, can you grab it then? Oh, you can. Oh, >> resist, please. >> All right. Don't think that like that. >> Keep walking. >> Don't do that, please, because that hurt. >> And I'm in call, but that hurt. >> Yeah. Well, now now we're going to hold on to you because you wanted to fight in there. >> Who wanted to fight? Let go of me, bro. I'm not even resisting. >> I'm not going to let go of me now. >> I'm not even resisting, bro. >> Can you please let go of me? That hurts. I'm not even resisting, bro. >> Stop. >> Let go of me. Give me my phone. >> Get your phone when your mom comes. >> And I'm not going in no car. I can sit out here and wait for my money. >> Sit in the car. >> Get off of me. I'll put some stuff on. Get off of my arm. >> Here. Get over here. Put your hands behind your back. >> Get off of my arm, bro. >> Hey, just No, bro. Cuz why are they like Can you put these on me? I'm going to search you. Chill. What the I did that for. She's 18. Are you stupid? >> Guys, quit it. >> She's 18. Stupid on me. >> Adriana was arrested and charged with retail theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. What was once a felony was changed to a misdemeanor. Since the younger girl was a minor, they sent her charges in the mail. On December 21st, 2022, officers responded to a Walmart store after reports of a woman stealing. >> So Betsley watched her. She she initially had a cart, >> but then she ended up like carts multiple times, but swapp swapping her jacket out for one of ours. >> Mhm. >> And basically just had a bunch of food and drinks and hand. >> Okay. How much was it? >> $74.51. >> Okay. >> So, it's going to be a fairly simple process once you get >> last name Wilkerson. >> Whiskey India Lena Kilo Echo Romeo >> Sierra Oscar November. >> First name Samantha say of birth 310 1995. >> Oh yeah. >> [laughter] >> say, "Look at the positive way to keep yourself." >> It seemed like the suspect, Samantha Wilkerson, was having a hard time coping with the fact that she was indeed going to jail. However, the loss prevention employee showed her some compassion while still maintaining a professional demeanor. The nononsense officer, however, continued on with his job, not letting her emotions get the best of him. All right, you done what you need to do then. >> Miss Wilkerson, you are hereby crimally trespass from all Walmart properties, including the gas stations and Sam's Club and everything else. Basically, that states you go to any property, they can facial recognition, see that, and then you will be arrested on that. Now, as far as for me on this side, what's about to happen is you're given a criminal trespass warning as of now. You come back to this property, you will go to the Spton County Jail. That includes the parking lot and the gas station. Okay. >> You have any on you whatsoever? >> No, sir. >> None whatsoever. >> Do Okay, that is >> But regardless, you do you have any in your backpack? Any anything like that? >> No, sir. [snorts] >> All right. So, I say [snorts] that to say this. I take you down here to the Spton County Jail. You cross again. >> You get another shirt. All right. So, I'm going ask one more time because this is my spiel. You ask them. I do it every single time I come in here. Do you have anything on you? Okay. >> For the most part, Samantha was compliant with the officer. She was respectful to the officer and the Walmart employees, but she seemed unable to stop crying. The cop took his time with her and explained to the woman the process of booking her. >> All right, so this is what's about to happen. Okay. I got some paperwork I got to do. Once that's done, I take you down to Spalding County Jail. Once you're processed in, you're going to be awarded out. It's criminal. It's a certified shoplifting less than less than $500. It's a misdemeanor. Okay? It's literally just like a ticket. It's a citation. I write it out. You go down there to the You go down there to the jail. Once you're out, you got to go to the court date. The court date is February 2nd. Okay. The officer here took an interesting approach when speaking to the woman as she was unable to calm down and seemed genuinely worried about her record. He tried to be a little more compassionate. Trying to calm the woman's nerves. He almost downplayed the consequences while he explained what was going to happen to her. All right, with that being said, I'm going to have you stand up. Face the wall. Put your hands behind your back together like you're praying. Like you're praying. Palms together. There you go. Just like that. >> My Bubba bag. >> Oh, no. You got anything in that book bag that I need to know about? >> I have my Bible and some markers. That's it. >> Okay. Do me a favor. Keep your back or keep your hands behind your back at all times. You do anything other than what I tell you to do, I will charge you with escape. Do you understand? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Now, these handcuffs, you got small wrists. These handcuffs are loose. >> All right. Do not take them off at any point. >> Yes, sir. >> All right. Turn around. What else you got in your pockets? Other than [snorts] that, >> I shouldn't have known. >> That's it. >> Yes. >> What's that? >> My marker. >> Samantha, listen to me. Doesn't make you a hardened criminal. I get we all get why you do it, but it's still against the law. Okay. >> Jesus. >> Oh, okay. I see it. >> It is a box cutter. But >> Yep. The button. >> Oh, this button. >> I'm trying not. Yeah. God forbid I slice myself with a with a >> I don't think it has a way to anymore. >> Oh, it does. Oh, I see. You got to move it over. It does. >> That's nifty. >> After discovering the woman's vintage box cutter, the officer continued to go through her backpack to find out a bit more about the woman. He tried to make some small talk. During their conversation, she revealed something surprising. >> Did you bring Do you have a car or anything? >> No, I don't want a vehicle. >> Okay. >> Where do you stay at? >> You stay where? >> Back off. Okay. >> Who do you hang out with? >> Nobody. >> You don't hang out with January and all them up there? >> No, I hang out with myself. I don't talk to nobody. I'm a loner. I live in my husband and he left you. >> How long you been out in the woods? >> 5 years. >> Karen Griffin. >> No, I'm in Stockbridge. >> Where at in Stockbridge? Um, >> I'm only saying this cuz I'm from there. >> 155 maybe. What? 138. >> What are you doing up there? >> It's where I live. And my grandfather, by the way, trying to come back down here. >> Have you not tried the shelters or anything? >> Yeah, they all cost money. The officer learned that Samantha was unhoused and since the passing of her grandfather, she had to change her location to a more sketchy area than she'd been in previously. While her situation's unfortunate, it didn't excuse the shoplifting. Since she'd been mostly compliant, the officer allowed her to walk on her own to the squad car. >> Okay. >> All right. Stand up. Ban, I got all your stuff in my hands. You do anything other than what I tell you to do, will be actions. You understand? All right. Open the door. Go right off through the buggy. [snorts] Come here. >> Hey, do me a favor. Go in the LP office. Grab that folder that I left in there. Passenger self. 3760 10. It's unclear what they charged her with, but as she was mostly cooperative and respectful, she was likely charged with just petty theft because the total involved was less than $500. She was also banned from Walmart and Sam's Club, including their gas stations. On the 1st of September 2023, the cops responded to a Walmart store after loss prevention reported they caught a man stealing. >> This guy, how you doing? This guy. >> Hey man, you got any weapons or anything with no stick or anything on you? >> No, sir. >> No, sir. >> Right there. >> What' you say you got in your pocket, bud? Just my phone. >> Never heard anybody call. >> The suspect, the young man, was being respectful and compliant. And it seemed like to some degree that he might not have realized yet that he was really in trouble. He was laughing with the officers over a miscommunication which was quite unexpected because he should have been worried about the upcoming consequences. You live? >> Yes sir. >> Where in Winter Garden you live at? >> Uh I live at um Avalon >> on Avalon. >> Yes sir. >> Okay. >> In one of those pockets. Be careful. There's nothing bad. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. [laughter] >> [laughter] >> Nice. >> Keep it in classy. >> I apologize. >> How old were you in that? >> Were you under 18? >> No, sir. >> You need to get rid of that. You were under 18. >> No, sir. Not two weeks ago. From the photo in his wallet, the cops could tell the suspect was a little immature for his age. And little did he know that it would be one of the last times the cops laughed with him. From that point on, the cops started taking this investigation rather seriously. >> I got to read you the surprise. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can will be used against you in court of law. You have the right to talk to a lawyer. Have them present with you before and during any questioning. If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, one will be appointed to represent you before and during any questioning if you wish. You can decide at any time to exercise these rights and not answer any questions or make any statements. >> Do you understand each of these constitutional rights as I explain them to you? Having confirmed your understanding of these constitutional rights, do you voluntarily and knowingly wave your constitutional rights and wish to speak to us now? I don't know. Please come to customer before return. >> I'm nervous. >> Unfortunately, you live out of the county. So, with what we got to do is we'll take you up there tonight. You'll have a bond amount set for you. You can make calls on me. It's a little thing. I get you. My [laughter and gasps] >> Here's the deal. Here's the >> Take a breath. Take a breath. >> It's It's a little thing, right? Nothing crazy. When you get up there, they let you get five phone numbers out of your phone. The bond. You've never Have you ever stolen anything before? >> Okay. It seemed like the shock set in for the teenager when they started reading him as rights. Hoping to calm him down a little, the officer explained to him that most likely his bond amount was going to be pretty low. >> What if my phone's dead, which it is? >> Um I I only know my mom's my mom's number, but she's she's on a cruise right now. >> This is an iPhone. >> I'll plug it in there. >> And uh my uh my friend is in my car right now. Can I give her my keys to go home or about my home? >> I'll give them to her. You want me to? So, >> all right. We're on camera right now. >> Yes, sir. >> Are you okay with me giving these keys to whoever is in your car so she can take your car? >> Yes, sir. >> Yes, sir. Okay, I'm going to go do that. What kind of car is it? >> Uh, the Dodge Charger. Black >> Dodge Charger. How is it on the other end or >> on the other side? >> On the far side by the by the food. >> Yes, sir. Is it parked close or far >> girl or there? >> Girl, >> girlfriend. >> Yes, sir. Yes, sir. >> All right. >> It was clear the officers here thought the kid was a pretty nice boy who just made a mistake. They were pretty gentle with him to help him process his emotions. They didn't want the suspect to freak out and make the arrest process difficult. >> When you get up there, they'll let you get five numbers off your phone. Okay? So, you get a couple choices for friends. If you know anybody else's phone number by heart, don't write that one down. cuz you know that one. Get some other ones. You'll be able to get out tonight. Long as you can call somebody. Okay, buddy. >> It's a little thing. [laughter] >> It's a little crazy. >> It's just >> We'll get it all done tonight. We'll get it squared away. You'll get the gut. The only reason that you have to go tonight is cuz you live out of the council. >> Okay. >> This is one of this This is something that we can write >> and give you the the paper with the court date on it >> and then you just got to show the court date. >> The catch with that is you have to either live in you have to live in the county. >> I live in Orange County though. That's the issue. Based on how anxious he is, it looks like this rookie shoplifter is going to learn his lesson. It should be enough reason for him, hopefully, to not pull a stunt like this one again. Sadly for him, though, he'd have no choice at all but to spend a few nights in jail. He's still pretty lucky, though, that his consequences aren't too severe. >> Okay, I have you stand up for me. >> Go ahead and put your hands together like praying. It's a little bit more comfortable. Get your wrist a little bit closer. >> No, I'll call my brother. All right. >> I mean, anything. >> They arrested the young man and they charged him with shoplifting. It seems he might just have been a reckless teenager who made a mistake as he was apologetic and cooperative with the officers. However, it doesn't excuse his crime and he was still booked in jail. On December 2nd, 2023 in Savannah, Georgia, the cops were dispatched to a Target store. Reports came in saying a mother and daughter duo were trying to steal from the store. When the cops arrived on scene, the suspects had not been apprehended. still lies on them. >> Yeah, >> they're still back there. >> Yeah, they're back and toys. Um she saw them put something else in the cart, but um she's in there. You want >> her? They're kind of like they've already put stuff in the bag, but because obviously that they're here, I have to make sure that it's still in there. So, I just got to wait for them to come back out and obviously castle points of sale with it. >> Well, they already put in the bag. They already shown a tent to conceal. >> Yeah. Then like for us it's always like what if they're using it to just like carry the stuff before they check out. But I mean they're known but like still we have to give them the benefit of the doubt until the absolute last minute. But what they do is they go to the selfch checkout and then like they'll pay for some of the stuff in the bag and then they leave the other in the bag. So really just have to wait and see what they're going to do. Instead, the loss prevention employee continued detailing the pair's motus operandi. As they were worried the women might run from them, the cops called for backup. Once backup arrived over the radio, they were given detailed descriptions. [music] >> Two white females, one's 86. She probably wasn't making it too far. Another one, she's skinny, but I mean, she don't look like she's a track star either. So, >> blue jeans, red top, red and black top. Yeah, the the big girl is all black, blue hair. The skinny one is >> What's she wearing? >> Red and black jacket. >> Like a red and black jacket. >> Blue jeans. >> Finally, the moment came and the women checked out their items. And sure enough, both women did not scan some of the items in their bags. The cops wasted no time whatsoever heading to the front of the store to catch the not so sneaky shoplifterss. The two women, however, had very different reactions. >> Hey, stop. Come here. Come here. >> Come here. Come here. [snorts] >> I paid for my stuff. >> I'm scared. >> I paid for my stuff. My receipt is right there. That's my bag. >> I apologize. I paid for my stuff. >> My stuff is wrapping paper. >> You're absolutely right. >> We both messed up and I >> What do you My stuff is the wrapping paper. My My receipt is right there. >> I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. >> My stuff. I paid for my stuff. >> That's That bag. Yes, I did. Marcy, >> I literally just watched with the POS system. Stop lying. >> That is my stuff in the bag. The wrapping paper is mine. >> That big old bag. No, the wrapping the parking bag with the wrapping paper is my stuff. >> What about the item? Not >> that's not my stuff. >> I watch you put >> That's a lie. >> I watch you put items in there. >> I've been in here the last 30 minutes. >> Check it out. Target's got like 500 cameras and they're very good. >> And she's awesome. >> This has been It's too late. [clears throat] As you can see, the blue-haired woman, Jasmine, became immediately defensive when stopped, whereas the other woman, the one in the red jacket, folded pretty quickly. She was extremely apologetic, but it was way too late. Soon enough, she started panicking. >> I'll pay for it right now. I swear I can stand up here. >> Real quick, do you have anything on your house? >> No, I don't. >> No, I only have my phone. >> I can pay for it. I swear I'll pay for everything right now. >> Okay. >> No, I'm scared. I'm so scared. >> You weren't scared when you were stealing >> cuz I I don't know. I don't know. >> For me, your current ID or you have no >> That's my current ID. I'm sorry. >> Do you have anything you want me to poke his stick? >> No, it's my fault. >> Everything I promise I'll do it right now. I'm so sorry. I don't know. My husband needs to lose his job or something. I'm so sorry. >> Are you in the yard? >> My husband is. >> My husband is >> I'm so scared. Please. I'll pay for everything. >> Take that. Please. >> Well, that was not a smart move. Okay, >> you're right. And I'm so sorry. And I'll pay for all of it. I really don't want him to get in trouble. He doesn't know. I'm so sorry. >> Your husband's not under arrest. You are. >> The woman was worried that when word got out, her military husband would somehow lose his job due to her shoplifting. She wasn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. Next up, it was time for the cops to identify the two thieves and then figure out how much they'd stolen. >> Where's your ID? >> It's It's in my car. It's in your car. >> It's in my car. >> You're just getting your name and everything. >> I have both my driver's license and I know it's very ID in my car. So, >> what's your last name? >> Harding. H A R D I N G. >> What's your first name? >> Brandy with an I. >> B R A N D I. >> Yes, sir. >> What's your date of birth? >> 12291. >> 12291. >> Uh-huh. >> Can we reset your cards here? >> We'll be there all weekend. Does it have to stay there all weekend? The battery is going to die. I hate to say that. It's just it depends if it's missing or felony. If it's felony has to stay until at least Monday to get ar by a judge. >> If it's mine, >> does this stay on it forever? >> So, looks like it's home. >> Okay. So, it's a misdemeanor. So, what's going to happen is you're walk. >> Since it was under $500, thankfully for them, the charge would only be a misdemeanor. The older woman, Brandy, was concerned about her car and having it parked overnight, but having her car battery die should have been the least of her worries. >> You'll be able to bond out uh leave shopping through this $1,000 bond. Go through a body agency. >> It's $1,000. >> With their their fees, it'll be $1,300. If you go through a bond agency, you'll pay 13. >> What if I stay the night? How long do I have to stay there for >> a husband? He's at home with the kids, but we don't have enough money to pay for that. That's why I don't know if I stay in jail how many nights. Like >> they probably one night. >> Okay. >> While talking to the officers, this very strange duo revealed that they were neighbors and they'd known each other a while as they'd lived on military bases with their families. You might think these military types would have better morals, but apparently that wasn't the case with these two. >> What's the total? 33781. >> Oh, almost. >> We're that close to a filling. >> Pay it. >> You probably get back on post for a couple days after that. >> Yep. >> We're going to jail. >> Oh, wait. No, that's Wait. They both look together. >> I'm sorry, ma'am. >> No, that's 162. That's 158. >> I'm sorry. So, she is 158 and she's in 62. Goodbye. >> Did you call Did Randy call Cody? >> No, I don't want him to know. >> He's He's going to find out. Like, I don't know what to do. >> I don't know. I don't want >> It's 313. I'll figure out >> Mom. >> Jen, what do I need to do? >> I don't know. I'm saying if I go through a bailing a bonding agency and I pay the 130, how does that work? Can I do that? >> Mhm. >> No. So, you'll pay the bond agency back. You'll pay them 10%. Um, but they put the rest of it up. If you don't go to court, you pay them back. But if you go to court, then it's just your 10%. While on the phone with Jasmine's mother, the cops explained how a pond works and the pros and cons of staying in jail overnight versus paying the bond. Since they lived on a military base, Jasmine's mother informed Bry's husband about just what had happened. >> Hello. >> I'm not so good, honey. I'm so sorry. I didn't [laughter] >> I'm scared. Listen [laughter] to me. >> Are you listening? >> Hey, I'm going to come down there. I'm going to help you figure it out. Okay. >> You have to They're taking me to jail. You can't come here. >> Yeah, I know. >> Soon enough, it was time to take these two to jail. While they both ended up being very regretful, there was no excusing their actions. Brandy and Jasmine were both cooperative with the officers, even though at first Jasmine was not very compliant. >> Have a seat. >> Okay, >> let's get the belt right there. >> Yeah, it's fine. You just go slide into it. >> You're backwards on these cars. >> Okay. >> All right. Just slide in or f put your feet in >> as best you can. Try to get to them cuffs and adjust them. >> Yeah, they're very tight. >> Yeah, >> you can uh slide. Put your back to me if you can. >> Okay. Is there a way that I can put my hands in front of me? Can I show I have a leg show? >> Unfortunately, our policy is that we're not allowed to do that. >> Okay. >> Sip on the other side. >> [laughter] >> So, they're going to search you again, sir, if you want to stand against the wall. >> They were both placed under arrest and later charged with retail theft. Like we said, being the family of military members, they shouldn't have been stealing, and they clearly should have known better. On the 18th of April 2024 in Panama City, Florida, the cops responded to a theft in progress at a selfch checkckout. When the suspects tried to leave the place, they were met by police and Walmart's loss prevention. >> Okay. >> Yeah. And if you go in there right now, she got it up on her shoulder. >> All right. >> Okay. We're going to figure out who's got one here in a sec. Who's got IDs? Pull it out. The officers identified the suspects as a 45-year-old man named Christopher Caitlyn, a 20-year-old woman, and a 19-year-old woman named Sophia. Inside the office, the officers and the Walmart employees rummaged through the merchandise trying to find out what was stolen and what they paid for. Who had this one right here? >> Shop bags where you just keep nothing in there but store merch. advanced retail theft techniques. >> While the cops and employees continued searching, a female officer was asked to search the women. While it's not mandatory, typically female officers search female suspects to make the suspects more comfortable and so as not to be too intrusive. >> All right, have a sit down. So, that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to be searching both of the females. Do you have anything on you that's going to help me safely or hurt me? Is there anything that I should be aware of? If you were to go jail that they find it, you will get additional charges. Anything that you hid on you own persons while you were in Walmart. [snorts] Are you 21? >> It's even worse. That could be a turn for him, too. >> Thankfully, it's only like a $15 buy. This is where your Where's your car match at? >> It's a good thing the cops searched these two because they both had contraband hidden in their clothes. The male officer then searched the male suspect, but he didn't have anything hidden. Next up, the cops figured out the total amount of what they'd stolen. >> All right, send them off way. >> So, let's uh what's the third day that he's going? He's not. All three are going to go. >> What's this guy hanging out with these two young kids? I mean, they're not like kids, but they're like they're basically kids. >> Yeah. >> What's he doing hanging out with them? >> Teaching them wayward. Well, actually, I would say uh >> teaching him the other one. >> She's the one, right? >> Or maybe she's just really bad at it. She's getting all want to get caught. I'm sure they've all done it before. The one sitting in the chair facing Peter Mon, she's so nervous that her karate is like pulsating in the neck. >> The cops here raised a pretty good point about 45year-old Christopher. He was hanging out with these two females who were too young to even legally drink. The cops speculated that he might have been showing them the ropes on shoplifting. And if that was the case, it was a very bad sign. >> They're all gone. >> Yeah. I mean, I wouldn't be opposed to them, but they already have outstanding warrants for FTA or signal 48, signal 41, and they ain't going to show up, >> right? I'm going to go ahead and put them in cuffs. >> All right, ma'am. behind your back. >> All right, boss. Go ahead and stand up. >> You turn your wrist. That does not look comfortable. All right, ma'am. Stand up for my purse. It has >> hands together like praying. >> I need to be You think I'll be in here long? >> No, it's a misdemeanor shop. >> Probably be in there maybe tonight. We'll probably have first appearance in the morning. >> Okay. After chatting with his colleagues, the officer escorted all three of them to the local jail. Even if they were a little emotional, the suspects here stayed compliant. Clearly, it was Sophia's first time going to jail, and by the looks of it, she wasn't taking it too well. That being said, she didn't cause a scene. Next up, they were escorted out of the car and into the jail to be booked. Come on out. Walk around. You think you can slide out this way? >> Y'all go line up by the door. Okay. >> All right, boss man. You're going to step on the red footprints. Ladies, y'all are going to go in the holding cell. Okay. They charged all three with misdemeanor theft. As far as the young girls went, chilling with Christopher was probably a bad idea, and clearly they shouldn't have been shoplifting with him. They'll hopefully learn from this and cut the man off for good. On October 16th, 2021, law enforcement was dispatched to a Walmart store after reports of shoplifting by three women. When loss prevention tried to stop them, they fled the scene. But very soon afterwards, the officers found them in the parking lot. >> You're hilarious. Come here. >> Come here. >> Put your hands right back right now. Put your hands right back. Sorry. >> What did I do? >> I'm going to figure out in a second. But why you running through this parking lot? I was looking for him. Yeah, >> I told him I didn't have my bag. I offered to >> I offered to go back through check out and he was like the way. >> Okay, sit down. You two. Where's the other one? >> She's in the store. I have a receipt. >> So, the reason that y'all darting out sitting in the car, >> the reason y'all all were supposed to y'all all are supposed to stay there when they were talking to y'all and then you decided you're going to try and step off >> the cops. So, I offered to go back through the line to get a receipt and he said he was calling the cops. So I just left the cart and left >> cuz I don't I don't cops for what? You know, >> try central. I have two detain. I saw >> I asked him if he wanted me to go back through the checkout line and he said no. >> Okay, then why is she running? >> I was looking for her. I thought she went over there. >> She was right behind you. Stop. >> The pink-haired girl was full of excuses and her friend with the face tattoos blamed everything on trying to find her friend, making their story very inconsistent. Soon after, the third suspect showed up, having emerged from the store. Let me tell you see what everybody else is. Sanford. >> What's your address? >> Orlando. >> What brings you up here? >> I'm sorry. >> What brings you up here? >> Um, I live with them. That's just the address on my >> You can sit down. Sure. I'll be up here. What about you? Take your hand off under your shirt, please. Bugging me. >> Is that too detained on a shoplifting at Walmart? >> Is this mom? >> Yeah. Does anybody have any weapons or anything sharp on them at all? No. Okay, let me see your bag real fast. Why is it all small denominations? >> What do you mean? Once I'm a dancer, sir. >> Oh, >> yeah. I'm a dancer. >> Turn your pockets out for me. >> Just put everything on the car. There you go. Let me see your bag real fast. You can put that stuff in your Actually, no. Just do right there for a sec. This good or something? >> I don't know. I never tried. >> You just trying You just trying to find out? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Is your phone down? >> Okay. See? Good. Turn your pockets. >> I don't got pockets. >> You don't have pockets? Nothing at all? No. >> Okay. Mom, can you step forward just around the bag? Okay. Okay. >> The officers then questioned the women about their criminal history. There were no active warrants, but the pink-haired girl, the dancer, did mention getting arrested for driving on a suspended license. The officer then got an account from a witness. >> She was buying a drink or whatever. >> Standing at the customer host with the cart talking to the customer host in the front of the store. So once the girl was done checking out, she met up with two >> and they all three proceeded out the door. The one to take care of was pushed the cart but inside the store. >> They were all all three of them were participating. >> Put everything in the bag. >> Okay. Everybody's right now under arrest for shoplifting. Okay. No one's free to leave. All right. Mom, you're going to take a seat inside the car for me. >> I don't think so. How many times have you got in trouble for shoplifting? Never. All right. All right, then you're not going to the other. >> Okay. Well, it's always the first time, right? Sit down. >> What are you going back in there? >> Okay. Well, you can't be out here stealing, right? >> It's frowned upon, right? >> Can you keep your shirt down, please? >> Go back. >> That's not That's not how that's not how that works. >> They're talking. I got >> I didn't pay for it. I told him, "Can I go back?" That's not how that works. You know, right? >> With the younger two females secured in the squad car, the officer told them that at this point he didn't think they were going to jail, but he still had to tally up what they'd stolen. After pulling his car around to the front of the store, the loss prevention employee presented receipts and also the total value of what they'd stolen. >> Tax was 929. >> Yep. 929.94. >> Okay. Uh 949. >> No, they I don't think so. >> Why Why isn't it never just like one large item? >> What are they coming? >> It's a Honda. It's over there somewhere. >> There's nothing in there. >> Well, our concern is being possibly being left here for a while. So, um, >> are you serious? >> Well, due to the due to the amount, >> I literally asked if they can't I have a baby. >> Now, now you see what you've done. So, essentially what happened is you guys sold too much stuff and so now you guys have taken away my ability to be cool about it. >> That's not how it works. Y'all know that, right? >> I'm I'm empathetic to that, but at the same time, y'all stole a bunch of >> I know what I did. >> Of course, as soon as the women found out they'd racked up a felony charge. That's when the waterworks started. There was a long series of excuses, including the fact that one suspect was only 19 years old with a one-year-old daughter. But at this point, there was nothing else he could do. >> What can I do for you, kids? I don't know how many I'm allowed to transport, but I got three back here right now. >> That's how many you fit, right? >> Yeah, >> that's massive. >> That was I was That's the end of my handcuffs, too. [laughter] >> Um >> Oh, $1,000 worth. >> That's a Well, before taxes, it's like $940 something. >> That's a felony, my boy. >> Yeah. >> So, first we got to find out which car it says. It's >> Honda and blue. Who drove here? >> Huh? >> You drove here? >> Yeah, I drove here. >> Where's your car? >> It's over here. Blue Honda. Are you guys towing it? >> Yeah. Blue Honda what? >> No, I'll have somebody come get it. >> Blue Honda what? >> A Honda CRV. Please don't. >> What year? >> Car. It's a 2011. >> 2011 Blue Honda CRV. >> Please don't my car. Um, >> don't come get it. I promise somebody will come get it. See, the thing is is you lost the privilege to kind of run things how you want to when you try to steal almost $1,000 worth of things from Walmart. >> Who's it registered to? >> The officers placed the women into a transport vehicle to be taken to the local jail. All three were arrested and charged with felony grand theft. On the 16th of August 2023 in Roswell, New Mexico, police responded to a Walmart store after loss prevention employees reported a woman trying to shoplift. When they arrived on scene, they found the young female suspect in the parking lot walking to her car. >> Where you going? >> Okay, let go. Let go. >> Come this way. >> Let go. >> Come this way, >> please. No. Why? >> Why? My arm. Why? >> I'm not hurting you. [crying] >> No. Please. >> Stop. >> Please. >> Stop. Put your hands behind your back. [crying] No, don't put him tight, please. [crying] I don't know what's going on. Tell me what's going on. >> Please. [crying] It was obvious to the officers that the crying act had worked for the suspect's entire life as she'd perfected saying embarrassing things like, "I want my mommy and owie." However, the cops weren't going to let her get away with shoplifting just because she kept crying all the way over to the loss prevention office. right here. >> You know sunglasses wrong? >> Yes, I do. >> Here, stand up. Hoodie, too, right? >> Yes, it is. I'm sorry. >> No, please. What all do you use? [laughter] >> Huh? >> What do you use? >> Um, I've tried the the pills. >> What pills? >> Yeah. I don't >> I don't know if there's any in there right now. I don't know. >> I'm not going to say that there's not, but I don't know. Set it down >> like it was my friend's birth. She let me borrow it. I don't know if there's anything in it right now. Shut >> that down. >> Sorry. >> In addition to fentanyl, the suspect also admitted to using since she was an active user. It might explain her dramatic and irrational behavior. At this point, the cops had to find out who she was before they could apprehend her for the shoplifting. >> What is your name? >> [crying] >> She's not a very good name. >> Do me a favor. >> Why are you being so mean? You have to let me breathe. >> Take a deep breath. >> I'm being super nice. >> Why is he being so mean? >> Take a deep breath. >> He said, "Wow, such a great name. That's mean." >> Tell me your name. >> Be nice about it. >> What is your name? >> My name is Cheryl. Cheryl. I don't want to go to jail. I'm scared. I'm sorry. >> What's your last name? >> And I was supposed to be Cory yesterday. >> How do you spell >> I didn't know it was yesterday. I thought it was next. S U M R O W [crying] >> All right, take a breath and talk. >> Sorry. >> S U M >> R O W Everybody does, but I have to make one. >> So, you just roll it and then fold it up like the bowl. They identified the suspect as 19-year-old Cheryl Samro. She was a bit of a basket case since she missed a court date the previous day. Additionally, they found foil papers inside her bag, which she used as a pipe. It seemed like her shoplifting wasn't unbecoming as her behavior was already questionable. >> Are you on probation or anything? >> No. No. >> I was supposed to do a record yesterday. And I wanted I wanted to be able to tell the judge that I didn't know that the papers said it was this I thought it was next Tuesday. >> He had me out on or >> I think he said something about me on >> I don't know what that means. >> Well, you don't have a warrant. The woman wanted to make it extremely clear that she wanted to show up to her court date, but she didn't know the correct date. Despite her shady behavior, it was clear she was scared. They asked the woman why she was freaking out, and she said this was her first time in real legal trouble. >> I'm freaking out. Why? >> Because I've never been to jail and I don't want to go to jail. >> I'm scared. >> Poor choice today. I'm going to go to jail today. >> More than likely. >> Oh my. Oh my. >> Who was the guy we were with? >> Huh? >> Who's the guy you're with? >> What do you mean? >> There's a guy you were walking around the store. >> I didn't walk out with anyone. >> You didn't walk out, but you were walking with somebody the whole time. >> He was an older guy. >> No, he was just walking like near me. I mean, he wasn't walking like >> So, he followed you throughout the storm. >> No, he didn't follow me. Okay. He's my friend. and he was kind of like talking here and there, but he was like kind of like, you know, on his own mission. >> Cheryl claimed that her friend had been out buying glasses from Walmart that day. The cops figured that he might be an accomplice, but later discovered that he'd paid for his items. So, it looked like Cheryl was going to jail by herself. >> Where do you live? Are you homeless? [snorts] >> Kind of right now. Yeah, >> kind of. >> Where do you live with? It's like I'm entertained at two places right now. >> Okay. >> I'm sorry. [clears throat] >> Okay. >> I am. I'm sorry. >> They're still going to have me trespass for you. You'll never be welcome at all. >> You know what I noticed a lot? People are only sorry after they get caught. It's pretty crazy. They're not sorry why they do it, >> but they're sorry when they get caught. >> I do feel sorry every time I do it. I DO IT. AND I DON'T KNOW WHY I do Why do you do it? >> I don't know. >> It'd be like stabbing somebody and just going sorry and then continue stabbing them. >> Does that make sense? >> I mean, have you ever heard of, you know, have you ever heard of a therapist say that, you know, those things be an addiction? >> Shoplifting. >> Yeah. Shoplifting can be an addiction. >> So, was hard and I don't want I don't want to do it, but >> I find myself doing it anyways and I don't want to and I know it'll get me in trouble. What therap What therapist do you go to? >> No, of course not. I'm not saying this. >> You used to have a >> Yeah, I used to work. >> What therapist do you go to? >> I don't go to a therapist anymore. >> Do you go to a rehab? >> Huh? >> You go to a rehab? >> No. >> Probably should. >> Cheryl explained that a few months prior she'd quit her job at Waterburger because they weren't paying her enough. When asked what her current job was, she told the cops she wasn't working due to ID issues. Finally, it was time to take Cheryl to jail. >> No, no, they should. >> It's all right. Maybe you can close it. They arrested the woman and they charged her with lararseny. Reportedly, she'd stolen a hoodie, a cross body bag, a couple of bras, and three thongs. As of a year ago, her case was still pending. On September 27th, 2023 in Florida, the cops responded to a shoplifting call about a couple tried to steal from a store. When they arrived, they found the female suspect near the store trying to hide in a wooded area while the male suspect was nowhere to be found. >> What are you doing? >> What's going on? >> 10 12 some female. >> Scared of what? What's your name? What's your name? >> You don't have a name. What's going on? Hey, excuse me. Semi >> touch me. >> What's going on? >> Nothing. >> Did you see somebody? Why you hiding? >> Because you guys were running after you. We were running after you. >> Yeah, cuz you guys told me to stop and you guys were running after >> I don't know 11601 PGA female 1012. >> All right. So, who are you with in the mall? >> I'm not telling you anything. >> You're not telling us. She's saying she's not telling us what's going on. >> Hey, where's he at? We're going to put the dog in the ground and bite him. Where's he at? >> You're not putting You can >> You can't tell us what to do. The cops tried to get the boyfriend's location from her, but she wasn't budging. The cops then threatened to use the canines, but it didn't seem to intimidate her at all. The cops made it clear to her that they were willing to use force to get the info they needed, but once again, she didn't seem phased at all. All right, I'm going over here. >> All right. Um, >> she's not cooperating. >> Get with Shane and ask Don't get Shane and uh ask him just verify that she was with me. >> You got his number. >> Hey, ma'am. Excuse me. >> The tank. Get to the ground. Get to the ground. Put your hands behind your back. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> I'm going to tell you. Put your HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> PUT your hands >> Put your hands behind your back. You >> get tased. Put your hands behind your back. >> Put your hands BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> PUT your hands BEHIND YOUR BACK NOW. PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND your back now. [screaming] >> Put your hands. >> Put your hands behind your back now. [screaming] >> [screaming] >> I'm literally on my >> You told us no. >> Of course, I'm going to tell you no. >> Huh? How about I can't? >> I can't. >> And I won't floor. Taser the floor. Oh. >> When asked to identify herself, she claimed she didn't have ID and was unwilling to give them her name. For seemingly no reason at all, she began screaming uncontrollably. However, the cops soon spotted the male suspect in the parking lot. >> Baby Mel is in the parking lot looking like he's about to flee northbound. >> We need somebody. He got black male, Miami Heat shirt, blue jeans. He's running running on foot going eastbound. jumping now. I'm going to tase you. I'm going to tase you. Tang, >> get [screaming] down. >> Put your hands behind your back now. >> Handcuff. >> Handcuff. >> Hey, I don't have I got He's right here. Get him. I got handcuffs. Get his hand on the back. >> Give me other hand. >> Hey, let them know we got one detained. >> We got him in. >> [laughter] [laughter] >> Hey, I told you to stop, right, buddy? >> The man repeatedly checked to make sure his wife was okay. He said she had nothing to do with it and that he should be the only one being apprehended. Unfortunately, since she was being so non-compliant, she'd already racked up some charges. Yeah. Yeah. >> I'm scared. >> Come here, man. >> Hey, you know how you avoid all these problems? >> Don't do it. I should listen to her. That's why she told me not to. She told me not to. >> She told me not to. >> She told me not to. >> Is she all right? >> Is she all right? >> Are you all right? >> She's I'm good. >> Yeah, she's all right. >> I'm fine. Oh, man. >> That that taser FELT GOOD. [screaming] BOY, I'm >> I've been out here, bro. I've been out here. >> Let me see your eyes. >> I'm sober. >> Are you 100% sober? >> I swear to God. Oh, my daughter. >> All right. Just want to make sure. >> Is she all right? >> She's got heard. [screaming] >> No, I'm trying to. >> Hey, is this was >> Yes, sir. It was. >> They ain't got a confession. [laughter] >> Hey, man. This what it is, bro. She don't like cheating. No problem. She looking at all. She was resisting. >> She resisted me. She had to feel that wrap, too. >> She resisted you. You talking about >> She did. >> She did. >> I hope she did. >> The male suspect seemed almost proud of his wife for resisting the police. While they waited for EMS, the cops stood by and discussed the couple's charges. Also, thanks to the male suspect, they were able to identify the female. >> You have the right to ask me question. Any card? >> I have to read it to you. >> Okay. >> Any statement you make must be free and voluntarily given. You have the right to presence and representation of lawyer choice before make any statement during question. You cannot afford a lawyer and talk to the presence or representation of a court appointed lawyer before any statement during question. >> If any time during interview questions, you are privileged to remain silent. I make no threats or promises statement. This must be on free will. Any statement can and will be used against your court. I love her. Do >> you understand your rights? Yes, sir. >> Okay. I secure her heart though. You're in trouble now. >> Hey man, I get it back. It's real. I get it back. I up. Yeah, I up. My man about to get it back up. She talking about >> Where you from? Are you Are you even from Miami? >> I'm Texas. >> Oh, okay. >> For two years. >> What part of Texas? >> Fort Texas. Ied up. Ied up. Ied up. >> After being detained, they were both charged with resisting arrest and the man got a charge for theft. For their shoplifting spree, this couple got some well-deserved jail time. Today, we've seen some of the lousiest shoplifters on the planet. From clueless teens trying to steal jewelry and snacks to homeless women taking what they needed to survive, these stories are a clear reminder that getting arrested is a tough way to learn a lesson.
