Aaron hey come out here man come on out here listen to me no I won't list I tried you [Music] guys on the third of May 2022 patrolman David Gallagher and patrolman Barry were dispatched to a house in Strongsville Ohio for reports of a kidnapping the suspect Aaron Smith wouldn't let his fiance Lisa Simons leave the house this would be the 15th time officers went to Smith's residence for a situation involving domestic violence or drugs and when they arrived Lisa was still on the phone with dispatch here is what happened when officers arrived at the [Music] residence something about they could care less even for make care last I can hear him I can hear him where where's the house the next one over [Music] [Music] un driveway dve outus [Music] out hey call him out on the call him out Serge use the loudspeaker call him out Aaron Smith Aaron it's the police department Aaron it's the police department come out with your hands up show me your sh come on out come on out shoot me no no relax last time you guys here making contact with him right now no shirt on unarmed at this time what we're GNA talk to her about we need her to come out Aaron Aaron get over here Aaron hey come out here okay and they did nothing and then they came again but listen and they hid around the side of the here and were talking to me through the window they didn't even knock on the door let's let's get some Sergeant yeah with this dude I'm going to start getting statements not letting her out we got here I pulled my car in he told her he wasn't letting her out and she he was forcing her back in the house kid I think every time she drops the DVS unla restrain at least I would I would charge I would put the DV on there yeah well unlawful restraint in uh let me look at the St the elements of kidnapping and unlawful restraint but D certain I'll help you whatever all right officers escorted Aaron to jail while patrolman Gallagher took a statement from Lisa I'll stop taking it don't wor no I got it say she's been back here for like a mon mon now it's a month and a half month and a half are you guys you guys are married no we're engaged I moved in here my son rent my house out in the Dina you're engaged kids no kids how long I have three kids but they're older how long have you been living here I know you've been on and off for a while 3 years I think on and off no I pretty much get mail here and all my stuff's here okay all right so what to what took place today what started the argument well he just thinks that I tried to that was him who overdosed on and I saved him by naring him when oh gosh February he um today he thinks he thinks that I am sabotaging him thinks there's a movement against him he's just saying that I steal from him he's saying that I and I haven't done anything I've been nothing but honest to him so this morning you guys got into an argument we were at an argument all night I I went to sleep I got up I had to go to my son's the babysit you wouldn't let me so you go we have problem me and I said you know then I'm calling the police because this is my son's moving in one month and I won't be able to see my grandkid and so he wouldn't let you leave what was he doing was he like physically restrained did he put his hands on you today not today he didn't put his hands on you not today he make any threats towards you he jumped in front of me and pushed him down the chair wouldn't let me leave last night he was grabbing me pushing me on the bed threatening me I mean I I don't know I mean did he were you trying to leave last night too or no no he just would get in my face it was like a power trip then he drops on me like pick a he make me say stuff like I'm sorry you know like an abusive relationship this this is so not like so were you in the were you in the um the bathroom when you called or what room were you in I was I did it right in front of him he said if you're going to call the Cs call in front of me I was in the bedroom you were in the bedroom mhm by yourself or with him he was in the hallway so he was like right right there so did you shut the door no there's no door he took all the doors off okay so he would not let you leave that room no he kept jumping in front of me saying go back to the room and I'm not going to test him because I don't want to get okay so he didn't put his hands on you today he was basically just not letting you leave the house because yes but he did hit me last night not hit me but he did manhandle me I probably ever he pushed you into the chair to there ago yes now are you willing to press charges against him this time I mean because of situation regardless we're going to we're going to put charge against him for there's kidnapping there's domestic violence there's a lot of a lot of stuff that took place this morning that could have ended very bad extremely bad and and here you are again emotionally upset and you don't want to do nothing would you be willing to pursue charges against him I really don't want to I just feel like I owe him that much for what do you understand what ha just what happened here I knowbody needs mental help well if you know when we can help him with getting help can't nobody like he doesn't have no family he has me we can help him with getting help he just he he needs yeah but he needs he doesn't think he has a problem he talks to people he sees people he hears voices he's always they're telling him that I did all these things to him and I didn't I this relationship opening honestly he is a really really sweet guying brain and I don't want to really screw him more I want him to get help you guys just make him get is there a place you can write down or yeah I I can't put the dog away CU he took all the door that's fine so basically you put the dog in just for the for the time being trying to think what I could do with them well can you WR put outside if you guys want to come in you put them out back yeah okay Lisa continued to tell her side of the story and how Aaron acted paranoid in the past I I mean put example what he saying you know if he threatened you in any way or you you mentioned that he pushed you last night or this morning into the chair yeah I mean it was all last night he kept like pushing me against the wall or you know but you guys only slept a total we were up all night he was going through all my stuff he had everything on the bed from my closet it's establishing his mindset and you know what kind of mental state he's in this is midnight okay and you saw him do [Music] it actually I really didn't so but you know he did because he I know he did but all your stuff's here you've been here for the last three years you guys are engaged yeah I mean I stay here I don't stay anywhere else I haven't stayed any now for the time being if say he gets out do you have a safe place to go yeah I can go to my son's are you going to do that I'll have to CU H me something's got to give because not only are you putting yourself in danger like make sure he gets help though we're just the middleman you know what I mean we have to deal with him and then there's no you can't force anybody to get help I mean if he wants to keep rest of his life and staying up all the time and contributing to his own paranoia that's he doesn't even think he's paranoid even when he doesn't do it he's paranoid too well he needs to get mental he we can we can push him in the right direction of getting mental health but he needs to be willing to go we can't just forcefully take him to the hospital you know unless he's making like threats but as far as today goes I'm sure he probably did it in the past but as far as today goes we can't just admit him to the hospital I mean he was yelling off the window when I left last week the cop are the neighbors called me then they called the cops you guys I'm sorry because um you was yelling out the window that I was trying I wasn't even here and I never tried to laid a hand on him I never threaten him yeah I never disrespect him I don't even scream at him until he gets me to that point I don't I don't rate him I don't push him on I don't him matter nothing he like Aaron Smith was arrested for domestic violence resisting arrest kidnapping and obstruction he was expected to appear in court on May 4th 2022 when he arrived at at the station had two handguns with him that belonged to Lisa the Ruger and the Beretta were both placed in evidence until the case was resolved hopefully Lisa took the advice of the officers and they didn't have to return for another kidnapping case
