Uh let me just get with these other officers. >> Okay. >> Um and then whoever's this this vehicle is, I'll get get them to loosen those comfortable. Let me show you how to hospital. I believe in there's multiple sides to every story on what happened. Okay. Mhm. >> What's the last thing that you that you remember from this? >> I remember everything. Not the last thing. I said I remember everything. I remember me and my family. I jumped in my wife's car about to go get breakfast for us and I turn the corner and there's cops everywhere and [ __ ] so I'm looking and like freaked out the cops and my door opens and Rick jumps in and I'm like what the what are you doing, bro? [snorts] And then after that I I opened my door and stood out the car and put my hand up and boom boom boom. That's all I remember shots. And then so I moved away from the car and then I got slammed into the ground and I looked up and they're handcuffing my son and my wife, my daughter. This [ __ ] bro. This is some [ __ ] >> How do you How do you know Rick? >> She's my sister. He's my wife's sister's baby dad. [clears throat] >> Your wife's sister's baby dad. >> Yeah. >> Okay. How long have you known her? >> 20 years. Okay. Have you he does he ever go over and kick it with you guys or vice versa? >> He hasn't for a long time. >> What's a long time? >> 10 years. He's been in prison for like 10 years and then he got out and I seen him. >> How come your wife saying otherwise? >> What is she saying? What do you mean she's saying otherwise? Yeah, he used to come and kick it with us. He came kicking with us all the time. [snorts] >> So, was it 10 years or all the time? >> I don't know. recently, not not 10 years, but we used to hang out all the time 10 years ago, but the other day we were at the casino and he was there too. That doesn't mean we were hanging out though. But we hung out though. We kicked it for a minute. [snorts] >> Okay. Why you saying he was over about a month ago? So >> at my house. Mhm. Well, I wasn't there then. [ __ ] I work all day, bro. Where you work, man? I work for Steve [snorts] at the top of Maze Road. >> What was it again? The >> Steven Gallery. [clears throat] >> Is that Steven? >> No, it's at the top of Maze Road. >> Okay. Oh, okay. Got you. Got you. Got you. Um, when's the last time? What did Rick tell you to get in the car? He said anything to you that he >> when just now today he said, "I love you, brother." >> Said, "I love you, brother. I'm sorry. Okay. All right. >> And you said you was going to go out and get breakfast. >> Yeah, I was leaving. >> Okay. >> When was the last time you hung out with them? Like you said, "Hey, I hung out with this dude." Whether he was home, a couple weeks ago, couple months ago, I don't know. I don't really >> When he told me when I found out what all he all he's into and all he's doing, well, I'm not into that [ __ ] bro. So, I I blocked my mind out from all this [ __ ] from all all the time that I did in prison and in jail. I block all this [ __ ] out, bro, cuz I I can't do it no more, bro. This ain't >> Is there a cell phone in your car? >> Um, yeah. >> They call you before you shut up. >> Yeah. >> Say what? >> Said, "Help me, brother. Help me cry." So, I'm like, and then two seconds later, that's when I drove forward and boom, you're right there. [snorts] >> So, you help help him. What' you tell him? >> I didn't tell him nothing. I couldn't tell him nothing, bro. >> Okay. >> There's no time to tell him nothing. [snorts] >> So, he asked for your help and you were in the car, the driveway, and the door was unlocked. He popped in front of you. >> Yeah. >> You hear sirens? >> Yeah. >> Okay. You tell him anything. Kick rocks or >> No, nothing. I don't know. Not that I remember. >> I think I actually told him, "What are you doing, bro? What the [ __ ] you doing?" cuz I saw that he had a tractor on the back of his thing, bro. Just >> You see anything else? >> No, just that SUV all flat tires and [ __ ] So, it's obvious that he was running from me, bro. And just so we know, bro, just so we're not in on different levels, bro. I'm not stupid. I know you're not stupid, bro. So, whatever question you want to ask, just get to the point, bro. Cuz I know you said cuz I cuz I didn't do nothing wrong. And I didn't do nothing wrong to be in handcuffs or to be stuck at the hospital all [ __ ] day, bro. This ain't [ __ ] that [ __ ] bro. And I definitely didn't do nothing to be [ __ ] shot at, bro. That That's what That's what's pissing me off right now, bro. That I got shot, bro. >> I wasn't there. I wasn't there. I mean, [snorts] that's a whole other different discussion cuz I wasn't there to see. >> No, it's obvious. It's on all of their body cams. It has to be. I haven't reviewed white accounts, man. You said we're still doing this. What I'm why I'm here is it's a lot of coincidence, man. That Rick, we everyone knows Rick. We've been looking for Rick. >> Everyone knows Rick, bro. >> We all know Rick. >> And so everyone the streets know Rick, too. >> And then he pops in front of your house. We happen to be in the front seat of a car. >> Yeah. In my car, >> right? And where's the car at now? >> I have no idea. You guys shot it up. >> Okay. Okay. And there's probably blood all over it cuz the last time I looked, I looked in the car and Rick sucked over on the passenger seat, bleeding everywhere. >> You're telling me you haven't talked to Drake or hang out with them in 10 years? >> I didn't say 10 years, bro. I said the last time we actually [ __ ] hung out and [ __ ] did [ __ ] and did something was like 10 years ago. But he got out, he went on the run. And I'm not that person. So yeah, he come around, but I didn't hang out with him. I didn't [ __ ] go [ __ ] do dumb [ __ ] like he does. That That's not me, bro. >> I'm not saying you didn't. I'm saying he was at your house. So that's where he walks at. >> Yeah. >> So which one? >> He was at my house right there. Well, he wasn't even at my house. He was probably going to my house cuz he knows that I don't I'm not into this [ __ ] bro. And that I could [ __ ] my mind and I and I and I've helped him before, bro. You know what I mean? I helped him get on his feet. I helped him get a place to live. I helped him [ __ ] have food when they didn't have it, bro. And it's I'm pretty much the only one he had to call, bro. So that's what happened. >> [snorts] >> So he's like his go-to like person or [clears throat] >> Yeah. If he gets his [ __ ] together. Yeah. [snorts] >> You could ask his mom, his dad, all of them, bro. You could ask me and I'll I'll sit there and I'll ream his ass all day until he does something right or until heing stops doing [ __ ] wrong. >> When he called you, how long was that call? >> 2 minutes, 2 seconds maybe. >> And what did he say? He said, "Bill," I said, "What's up, man?" Said, "Help me. Help me. Help me." And you could hear I could hear the sirens and on the phone and and outside, bro. >> Where were you when he called you? >> I was in the street driving away from my house. >> Okay. Whose car is it's the Lex? Is that yours or your wife's? >> It's both of ours. It's under her name, but it's both of ours. She's my wife. She's my legal wife. >> Sure. >> How many kids you guys have? How many? >> Three. >> We all live at the house. >> No. My oldest son doesn't live with us. >> Okay. >> How before that call, when was the last time Ray called you? >> I don't know. Yesterday. The day before. The day before that. >> What was our conversation like? >> I don't know, man. I didn't like what's wrong. What are you doing? I said nothing, bro. You know what I'm doing? I'm either at work or I'm going to work or I'm getting off of work. Either one of those. Or I'm going to the casino. I've been wearing a casino. >> This casino. Okay. Anything else that you feel like you need to tell me? >> I need to ask you some [ __ ] >> Sure. >> Why am I Why am I still here, bro? >> So, cuz I'm ready to go home, dude. My wife and my kids, my daughter's probably freaking the [ __ ] out, dude. >> You've been here before. You're not You're not done. >> Yeah. I'm not I 100% agree. You're not dumb. So what does that what does that look like when we're looking for Ricky for months all of us PDSP? >> He hasn't stayed at my house now one night. So that's not >> No. Listen to me. >> He goes on the run. He has the whole city after him. >> Mhm. >> And where do he goes? >> To my house. >> Okay. And you happen to be outside and >> I was already in that position. I have a camera, too. Sure. And that show that same thing, bro. He didn't call me. I didn't run and jump in the car to go save. That's not what happened. >> He knows where to go, right? He calls you cuz you're not going to answer. And what are the odds? The exact same time he's calling you, you're outside the car. >> None to none or a million to a million. I don't know odds, but nothing. I don't know that kind of [ __ ] bro. >> I'm asking as as as a lot of odds, bro. that I don't know. >> But see from my side, what are the odds of >> Yeah, but see it from my side and your side. Have I been in trouble in the last 10 years? >> I don't know. >> Check my record [ __ ] I haven't, bro. I haven't done a thing. >> And at the end of the day, man, that's relevant. People go and kill people with the crazy >> that [ __ ] bro. I did my time. I ain't trying to go back to >> And the thing, my job is not here to say, "Hey, you I mean, I'm not here to judge you or like So, what are you trying to get at then?" the intentions of what's happening, how he end up at your house. Why your house? Why did he call you? >> He ended up by my house cuz he probably wanted me to help him. >> Okay. >> But I'm not going to help him. Just like I didn't help him. I focused off the car. I put my hands up and I [ __ ] stepped out of the car. >> Okay. Any questions for him? >> Mr. Chavez had the following active arrest warrants.
