Everything's on film. >> It's right here. I'm filming, too. >> Oh, and they they got filmed, too. >> Awesome. All right. >> Everything's on film. >> Get back in the car. >> Don't touch me. >> You're under arrest. >> Don't touch me. >> You're under arrest. >> Don't touch me. >> the vehicle. It's a lawful order to get out of the vehicle. >> No. >> Most employees try to survive their first day quietly, but these ones stand out for all the wrong reasons. These employees make career-ending mistakes on the first day. She thought the police wouldn't arrest her on the job. She was wrong. On May 17th, 2025, officers investigated a reported vehicle accident where the suspect allegedly left the scene. Unable to find her at home, they later surprised her at work. Watch what happens when officers make contact with the suspect. >> Oh, no, you're good. Thank you. >> Okay. All right. >> This is how you know they hit me. >> Okay. Um well, before I'm sorry. Say that again. >> They hit me. I didn't hit anything. >> Well, let's start from the beginning. Um kind of I think that your mom just called you to let you know or did she not talk to you? We were just over at the house. I didn't know if your mom >> They hit my car. You can tell from the zero damage on his, the to- totally horrible damage on mine. >> Okay. Um well, >> I stopped because I saw them coming, and he just kept going. >> Okay. Um well, again, we just came from your >> go over here? >> Yeah, yeah, absolutely. We just came from your residence over here. I'm speaking to mom and dad, that's why. I didn't know if they just called you or not. Um but the reason I'm here, I'm just going to >> so weird. Like, he's just been standing there for an hour waiting here. >> Well, is that all right? >> looking at him because I was like, is that the guy? But he wouldn't say anything to me. >> Okay. Yeah, I'm not >> looking at him. >> Yeah, I'm not sure who that is. If we can just stand here for me. >> So, >> Does that not help? >> No, I don't believe so. But, okay. But, the reason I'm here is regarding the All right. Well, let's go around this corner then right right around this side. Yeah. How about on this right around this corner? Is that okay? Or do you rather right here? It's up to you. Okay. Um so, I'm investigating a hit-and-run accident um after hearing what another party came in and told >> wasn't damaged? >> Yes. Yes, there was some damage on the other vehicle. >> Really bad. And the only reason I left was cuz I had to go to work. >> Okay. >> They hit me. I was only on break. >> That's what I was going to uh again, I just wanted to speak with you, kind of give you a chance to tell me what happened. Um so, you were driving you were on your break driving. You got in >> just bringing my car here because I had to go somewhere after work. >> Okay. Okay. >> And literally on the way here, they just >> The report states that both cars were damaged in [music] the crash, though the woman allegedly chose to leave rather than handle the situation properly. >> Okay. So, you were >> I didn't see them coming, so I stopped. I definitely I was hitting the brakes and I had stopped. And then, they just kept going anyway. >> Okay. Where was this at? Was it uh >> And I stood there and I parked over and I waited and no one ever pulled over. No one ever came to me. And I didn't want to call the police until after my shift. >> Do you remember where it happened? >> It was by the Food 4 Less. >> Oh, Food 4 Less? Okay. Right over here at the 100 122nd Pulaski. >> from where I parked and then I was turning to go here. >> Okay. You were making a left on the Pulaski from 122nd. Okay. Um yeah, the the main issue I or we have is that the fact that you ended up leaving following the accident. Um >> I was going to report after work. I just can't afford to I couldn't afford to just leave work. >> Okay. Um so, I understand that. So, the reason you ended up leaving was cuz you wanted to just get to work. Um but, we do have to address that now because it is a crime to leave the scene of an accident. >> Even if they hit me? >> Yes, regardless, it doesn't matter. >> That's what I thought. >> Um, I could document that in my report that you said that they hit you. >> He was >> He was saying vice versa, um, but I can at least document that in there for you. >> because at the front of my which means it's like a society. If I was hit someone, it would have just been the complete front, but it was the side. Do you need a pic? >> Okay. Um, no, I actually saw your car over here. I saw I took a picture of your car already. Sorry, what was that? >> My mom moved it for me. >> Okay. Okay. >> I was so shaken up, I couldn't move it. So, it was just in the middle of the street for an hour. >> Okay. >> Well, >> after the accident, I didn't go far. That's why I don't get why they would think I was hitting and running. I was literally right there and I waited for 20 minutes looking around. No one ever came up to me. No one ever said like and I was looking for dented cars, anything and there was nothing. >> While the woman tells a different story, the other party insists she was gone by the time they tried to locate her. >> Okay. >> And I I guess I know I should have called, but I just thought I could wait till after work because I knew if I called, I'd have to leave and potentially get in trouble at work. >> Uh, do you have insurance on your vehicle? >> I have liability. >> Okay. So, you do have insurance on there? >> Do they have liability? >> Um, that I believe so, yes. Yeah. >> So, do we both get our cars fixed? >> Um, well, so we're going to address Are you about to get off work right now? >> At 3:00. >> At 3:00? >> 8 minutes. >> Okay. Um, I'm going to hang out here until you're off your shift and then we're going to have to go to the station and address the hit and run issue, okay? Um, so if you want or is anyone else here that can kind of take over for you until shift ends? Or do you normally And do you normally stay after? >> Mhm. >> Or you leave right at 3:00? >> So, who's your replacement? >> Hm? >> Who's going to replace you? >> What do who >> replaces you? What time she show up? She shows up exactly at 3:05 or does she come a little bit earlier? >> At 3:00. I'm not sure but there's someone else in there. I could go but am I being arrested? >> Okay, yes, yes, you are going to be arrested. >> Going to jail? >> Just we're going to bring you there, process you, you'll be issued a citation and a and a court date for this. >> So I have to spend the night in jail? >> No, no, no. We'll only be there about 45 minutes to an hour and then you'll be released. >> The officers calmly explained that they still need to take her into custody for leaving the accident scene though she's clearly not pleased with the decision. >> So I have to go to court? I have to go to court court? >> Yes, yes, you will have to go to court. But for right now if you can just turn around put your hands behind your back for me. >> I can't do that here. I'm on camera at work. >> Okay, now I understand that but >> vehicle willingly? >> No, we have to do what we do. We'll pull a car around and put you in it but We're going to move a car around here and we'll put you in the car back here, okay? I understand but we got to do what we got to do. Just please please just turn around for me put your hands behind your back. I can't We'll address that with them. >> I can't I can't my stuff is in the car. I can't. Why are you doing this at my job? >> All right, just turn around for me and Turn around. >> How does this hit me and I'm in trouble? >> You left the scene of the accident. >> But they left the scene too. So I'm going to jail for the night? >> Not for the night. We're just processing you. We're going to take your pictures, take your fingerprints and then we're going to leave and or you'll be able to leave from there. >> Have the male or vague possibly wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. >> Where was this person when I was looking for that? >> Central 702, can you mark one female 95? >> Was I supposed to find this person? >> 5555 >> What was I supposed to do? I've never been in an accident like this. >> Yeah. I would like you thought you should have done just stopped and called us. That would have been the right thing to do. Um but Before transport, the officer conducts a quick pat down and prepares to load her into the police car. >> Can I please get in? >> Do you have any weapons or anything like that on you? What's this uh fogger here? It's like a OC spray? >> Yes, I almost got jumped at work. It's self-defense. >> Central 312 >> All right. Any other like knives or anything like that on you? Okay. All right. Just so you know, I just have to do a limited pat down on you. Make sure there's no weapons or anything like that. So, you got your phone in your back pocket? What's this here? >> Chapstick >> Just chapstick? Okay. >> I will vape in there. >> Yes. And this are these uh >> Airpods Okay, because they're say they hit me. >> Ma'am, we need your backup over there. >> But they're arresting me. Jail, ma'am. >> We're just taking her to the El Segundo, please. Uh we just got a fingerprint her and take her photos. Um and then she'll be released, so it'll be about 45 minutes and then she'll be Yes. Yes. >> My Airpods >> Absolutely. I I could grab them for Oh. Let me check. >> Where did it >> All right. You want to grab that? It kind of landed on her chest. I don't know. I did in her other ear. It's in her ear now. >> Where did it go? >> Okay. Yeah. Thank you. >> Can I what? >> She's got She's not going to stay with us. She's going to get out, and then about now she's going >> 312, you can put me at 105. There's a Cooper waiting on a passenger >> I know we had to do what we had to do. >> It all wrapped up with the woman being charged with leaving the scene of an accident and resisting arrest. This woman tried making extra money at work, then the police found out. On August 1st, 2021, police arrived at a Walmart after loss prevention reported that a cashier had allegedly been stealing both cash and merchandise. Here's what the staff told the officers upon arrival. >> Hello. So, they just texted me that they're ready for me in the back in the back. >> For in the back? >> Yeah, this is your copy of all the stuff. We got the evidence, videos, receipts, statements, and everything. >> So, how much has she taken? $16 worth? >> So, she's taken $16 of product, and then $60 worth of cash. >> Hm. So, $16 of product, how much in cash? >> 60. >> Okay, so 7608? >> Mhm. >> These are all surveillance, so we're good on everything. >> That was just for that one day. Took one thing of the Gliders first, and then she did it again and took two things of the Gliders. >> Okay. >> And then the second day, that's the cash. On how she made it up to $60. >> Loss prevention reports that the employee believed she could get away with stealing cash and merchandise, but once shown the footage, she allegedly confessed almost immediately. >> Just out of curiosity, any reason why we waited till today to >> Because she hasn't showed up. >> Okay. >> Cuz we were going to take her out on the >> 19th? >> 18th 18th. We were going to take her out on the 18th. >> Mhm. >> She didn't show up that day. For that For that specific time that our manager was here to be able to do it. >> So, did the cash happen on the 18th or 19th? >> The >> Cuz the cash on this receipt says the 19th. So, okay, so you saw her on the 19th, but it occurred on the 18th. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Yes. >> Okay, okay, okay, okay. >> It was so many days ago, I don't know. >> Does she know what's going on? >> Uh yes, she has confessed and she is back. >> Sorry, can I? Here you go. Thank you. Who's in the back? >> She's got a ball here, today. Yeah, how you doing? You know I'm doing wonderful. It's kind of a good day. You don't know what a vacation is. Now you'll get to see me again. Brand? Central station all the way again. Oh, so basically she took $16 worth of products and then another occasion she stole 60 bucks from the register. So, apparently she she knows what's going on. She confessed to them for doing it. And it's all the paperwork they had for it. Last time this is an employee they have them go in the back. You know, give them more private. And then I'm totally embarrassed to come out there. >> As officers make their way to where the employee is being held, they discuss how they plan to handle the case. >> Depending on how they are with us. Are you there? Put them in cuffs back there or If they're cool with me, then I'll just let them walk out and have some dignity. I'll take one if you're offering. I got to go off the ND for a my dog's having surgery. Yeah, it's not it's not a vacation. What choice? After her knee. >> All right. So, we're going to we're going to have to terminate you because of the stuff that you have. So, if you have your ID, if you have any contraband on you, you need to give us your vest. >> My what? >> Your vest. >> I think I got some more of this in my locker, too. >> Okay, we'll let you go around and get your stuff out of your locker. So, we are So, we are going to go around and we won't prosecute for that. Okay, so we have retail theft which is minor but we also have $60 cash. We have it on video and pictures. Okay? Okay. So, where's your stuff? Okay. You have to go inside of your locker to get your stuff. Just your wallet besides your phone do you have anything else on you? Besides your phone do you have anything else on you? Keys, wallet, anything? >> The walk out of the store is now underway though the footage has been partially blurred under police department guidelines. >> So, um >> Oh my god. >> Huh? No more. >> Yep. All right. So I was just following you. Oh. So I want to go with you, but it's coming out of your pocket, all right? >> Huh? >> Cuz you got all that coming with you. But it has to come out of your pocket. All right? What was that? >> Well, you got your driver's license before you left. >> You did. >> You know you did. >> Unable to deny the allegations any longer, the suspect begins complaining about how officers are cuffing her. >> It's already already on. They're already on. Are they too tight? Get ready to go in my car. I'm going to check you one more time for anything else on you, all right? I'm going to find nothing in your pockets. Nothing in your back pockets. You got some money in here? Okay. I'll go I'll go come out with the officer right there. Anything else? I like my money or anything? >> Yeah. >> It's out. Okay. Good. Have you ever seen Other places you've been arrested before? >> Yeah. >> What you were arrested What you were arrested What you were arrested for? >> The same thing. But it was a long time >> Okay. >> No, it wasn't the same thing like this. It was like a little It was a little minute ago, too. >> Okay. All right. >> The situation ultimately ended with a woman facing a retail theft charge. This woman didn't expect the cops to find her at work. Next up, officers with a Wheaton Police Department in Illinois spotted a vehicle with a broken plate light, leading to this traffic stop. Here's what happened next. >> Yes. >> Hi, how you doing? Officer Greenway, PD. >> I was here. >> Okay. Well, just hang hang out for a second. Don't get out of the car. Don't get out of the car. Just go on and swing your feet back in for me. >> What? >> Well, the reason I pulled you over, your license plate light is out, and you're moving pretty quick. >> Oh, okay. >> Where you Where you heading home in a hurry for any reason? >> I'm home. >> Were you heading home in a hurry? Is there an emergency? >> No. >> Okay. Where were you heading from? Your driver's license handy? >> I'm in the parking lot. >> I saw you on the street. >> Okay, but now I'm in the parking lot, so >> Ma'am, it's private property. Does not matter. It's not >> It's not a time to argue. No, you're not. >> Stay in your vehicle. >> touch me. >> That's a lawful command. Do not get out of the vehicle. >> Go ahead. >> I'm a part of this. >> I need your driver's license. >> Okay, let me record it. >> It's being recorded with my body camera. >> Okay, I'm also recording it. >> Well, I need your driver's license. >> Hold on. >> Tango 6, roll me another unit non-emergency. You need to give me your driver's license. >> Okay. I'm going to call my husband to come out here. >> All right, we would not advise that. >> Oh, well, why not? >> Because we need to finish what we're doing. >> I'm This is my residence. >> I understand it's your >> me at my residence. >> It's a lawful traffic stop. >> Um I'm not on the street. >> with your driver's license. >> Okay, hold on. Let me start recording again. >> Ma'am, have you had anything to drink tonight? >> I came from work. >> That doesn't mean that you didn't drink anything. >> Are you kidding me? >> Did you have any other >> I came straight from work. >> Okay, can you give me your driver's license, please? >> hold on. Why are you in a hurry? >> Well, I've asked you about 12 times. >> Yeah, I'm I'm recording you. Okay, here we go. >> Tango 30, you might want to swing by non-emergency. >> Officers trying to make it clear that cooperation would help avoid further trouble, though the woman refuses to listen. >> Here you go. >> All right, do you have your proof of insurance? >> Here you go. I live here. >> Thank you. All right, just go ahead and keep yourself inside the vehicle and I'll be right back with you, okay? >> I'm calling my husband to come out here. >> That's fine. >> What began as a routine traffic stop starts escalating after the woman refuses to comply with the officer's orders. >> Ma'am, get back in the car. Ma'am, get back in the vehicle. >> What's your name and badge number? >> Get back in the vehicle. >> What's your name and badge >> order. Get back in the vehicle. >> What's your name and badge >> Get back in the vehicle. >> What's your name and your number? >> in your vehicle. >> What are you What are you doing? >> Get back in your vehicle. >> What am I doing wrong? >> You are not listening to a lawful order. Get back in the vehicle. >> What am I doing wrong? >> Ma'am, get back in your vehicle. I will not tell you again. >> I live here. This is private property. >> in your vehicle. >> Or what? >> Or you're going to be placed under arrest. >> I live here. >> It does not matter. GET BACK IN YOUR VEHICLE. >> CAN YOU SEE ANYBODY? I'M GETTING HARASSED by the cops. >> is the last time I'm going to tell you. >> harassing me. >> Ma'am, get back in your vehicle. >> Get back in your vehicle. >> here. >> It does not matter. Get back in your vehicle. >> up and work. What is wrong with you? >> Ma'am, you're going to be placed under arrest. >> Can you please help me? What is she doing? >> in your vehicle. >> Tell her I came straight from work. >> Get back in your vehicle. >> What is she doing? Anybody? Who's out here? >> Come out here. I'm being harassed. >> It's a traffic stop and she needs to be placed back in her vehicle. It's a lawful command. >> You were not on private property. >> here before. >> I don't need to explain this to you, sir. You were not in your vehicle. You were not in the vehicle. I've explained everything to her and she's not listening. >> she thinks I've been drinking. I came straight from work. >> Ma'am, sir, do not go into the vehicle. >> Name and badge number? >> Green 101. Get back in your vehicle, ma'am. >> Get back in the vehicle. >> Get back in the car. >> What's your name and badge number? >> Get back in the car. >> The woman's husband soon arrives on scene and from here her defiance only intensifies. >> Get in your vehicle. >> ugly >> Get in your vehicle. >> What am I doing? I came straight from work. >> Get in your car. >> What's the problem? >> It's a lawful traffic stop. I don't need to explain things to you. I've explained it to her. >> public? >> You don't close my door. >> Yes, you need to close my door. >> in my car. >> You need to get in the vehicle and close the door. >> Why? >> Because you have to safety concern. >> in my vehicle. >> concern. Get in your vehicle. >> Now you're afraid for your safety? >> Get in the vehicle. >> Oh my god. >> Ma'am, I've told you I I know how many times. This is not an argument. You need to stay in your vehicle and close the door. >> Just do it. You're one ugly >> This is not an argument. Get in your vehicle. >> with you. >> vehicle. Close the >> Get in the vehicle and close the door. I'm not doing anything wrong. >> I'm trying to tell you >> You are >> This is private property. >> Get in your vehicle and close the door. >> I live here. I live here. You cannot harass me >> I'm good. I'm going to go. >> I live here. >> vehicle. >> I live here. >> Get in the vehicle and close the She's not fully in the vehicle. Get in the vehicle and close the door. >> First tell me how ugly you are and I get in my car. >> Get in the vehicle and close the door. >> Get in the vehicle and close the door. I saw a little getting mad. >> I'm not getting mad. You're just not following lawful orders. >> Cuz I didn't do anything. I came straight from work. >> I don't know how many times I cannot keep explaining this to >> And I cannot explain to you I didn't do anything wrong. You're harassing me. >> Get in the vehicle and close the door. >> You're harassing me. >> You are making this much more difficult than it needs to be. >> Where does she have to go? Are you You have to harass other people? >> Get in the vehicle and close the door. >> What's your name badge number? >> I've already explained this to you three times. >> Where's your supervisor? >> He's on his way. >> Okay. >> So you need to get in the vehicle and close the >> in the car until he gets here. >> The woman demands that another officer be brought to the scene, though her continued defiance only worsens the encounter. >> That's fine, but you're just extending the situation more than it needs to be. >> You're sure you haven't had anything to drink tonight? >> I literally just fall over. I came from work. I just got off work. >> And any type of intoxicating compounds, pills, anything like that? >> No. I came straight from work. What the are you talking about? >> reason for your erratic behavior? >> Because you are stupid that pulled me over at my apartment building. I literally live right there. >> car. >> Don't get Touch me. >> Get back >> Back in the car. >> Don't touch me. >> You're under arrest. >> Don't touch me. >> You're under arrest. >> Don't touch me. >> Get out of the vehicle. It's a lawful order to get out of the vehicle. >> No. >> It's a lawful order to get out of the vehicle. >> touch me. >> You need >> even touch you. I didn't even touch you. I didn't even touch you. I didn't even touch you. What is wrong with you? >> Sir, can you just stand back by that white post for me, please? >> Are you freaking kidding me? I live here. Why are you harassing me? I came straight from work. What the is wrong with you guys? >> Heather. >> Oh my god. You're making such a scene. >> Ma'am, I'm not the one making the scene. >> I'm not making a scene either. >> I've given you multiple lawful orders that you are not >> I didn't do anything. I came straight from work. >> Can you stand here for a second? Let me talk to 30. Pulled her over. No license plate light. She was speeding. She immediately hopped out of the vehicle. I told her she needed to take a seat back in the vehicle. Refused to get back in the vehicle. Then, when I tried to explain things to her, she once again hopped out, aggressed towards me. I told her she was going to be placed under arrest cuz I told her it was a lawful order to remain in the vehicle. She did not listen. Now she won't get out of the car. I wanted to wait till you got here to pull her out. >> Get out of the vehicle, Heather. >> Moments later, a sergeant arrives on scene in response to the woman's repeated demands. >> I mean, is that the safe zone? Is this Is this once you park in a parking lot, you're good? >> Once I'm at my house, yeah. >> That's not true, though. >> Yes, it is. >> Okay, you're asking her to step out? >> Yeah. >> All right. Ma'am, my name is Sergeant Green. I'm with the Wheaton Police Department. >> in the car. >> Sir, I'm not talking to you. I'm not talking to you. >> You told her get back in the car. >> You told her get back in the >> Ma'am, what's your first name? >> You have my license. >> Ma'am, I don't know. I haven't seen your license. >> Then give it to >> Okay, thank you very much. Please step to the back of the car. Please step to the back of the car. It's perfectly fine. >> Okay. >> All right. So, what are we doing? >> Well, she followed your law for order, but she was refusing to >> okay, because I didn't do anything wrong. >> Okay. So, >> What did I What did I do wrong? >> I just got here. I don't know. But, obviously you were pulled over for a reason. My officer didn't just stop you for no reason. That If she doesn't get up Listen, she doesn't get a bonus to make a traffic stop on you. So, you could sit here and play games all you want and be a or you can go with the program. Okay? And we can do this the easy way that doesn't require all this rigmarole, me driving down here code three, because you're being difficult for no reason for a simple traffic stop. >> What's up? Name and badge number. >> You're going to get all that. Don't worry about it. >> All right, good. >> All right. >> Name and badge number. >> So, >> We'll do that later. >> All right, we're working on >> How are you doing? Pretty good. >> The officer quickly cuts through the woman's excuses, reminding her exactly why she was stopped and how her resistance [music] only worsened the situation. >> It's up to you. >> No, that's fine. Complete the traffic stop and I'll explain to the other lady the importance of listening to a police officer during a traffic stop. Hear me out, because this could have gone completely different. You can roll your eyes and sigh and do all the I don't care. The reality is on a traffic stop, whether you think it's lawful or not, you >> You listen to a police officer When they instruct you to either remain in the vehicle or get out, or you'll be arrested for obstruction. That's simple. You'll be placed in handcuffs, you'll be dragged to the police department, and you'll be photographed and printed and all that BS, and then you can explain to a judge why you don't want to follow simple instructions. You can roll your eyes and fidget your feet and do all that and see what the judge can do. But at the end of the day, you are required by law to either remain in the vehicle or get out of the vehicle when the officer tells you so on a traffic stop. That is why she told you to get back in the car. You tried to get out on her twice, and she told you you did it again, and you didn't listen to her, she's going to place you in custody for obstruction. Luckily, once we got down here, you stood you listened to reason, you got up, and I appreciate that. So she's going to do what she's going to do, she's going to complete her traffic stop, and we're going to go about our business. It did not have to be this way. You created this situation. Here we go. Okay. Fantastic. Okay. You can you can say whatever you want. It's quite all right. No, we're not leaving. You're not done yet. You're not free to leave. We still got to complete the traffic stop. Okay. Well, my face is going to stay. Okay. I know. I'm Well, I'm well aware that you don't care. Okay. I I can't wait for my 10 seconds of fame. Okay. That's perfectly fine. >> Both officers now try explaining the situation to the husband and wife, making it clear how the stop escalated to this point. >> Perfectly fine. >> So why did she pull me over again? >> Again, she explained she explained to you No, she didn't. She explained She didn't explain to you? All right, well, let me tell you. >> She didn't explain anything. >> So, let me tell you what happened. >> And I asked her a question. >> So, were you in the car when this happened? >> No, I wasn't. But, I I asked her why she got pulled over. Why she got pulled over? >> So, so you weren't in the car when this happened? >> No, I live here. >> Did you come out after she was stopped or when did you come out? >> Yes. >> So, what do you know about the reason why she was pulled over? >> I asked her why she pulled her over. >> Okay, and it's not her What did you ask her? >> She didn't say anything. And she started asking her if she'd been drinking or smoking. >> That's a standard question that we ask. >> She was already parked in a parking space. >> So, so let me I just want to make sure I got a question for you then. So, if someone's driving on the road saying speeding or blowing stop signs or whatever they're doing, and the second they pull into a parking lot they're okay, right? Family business owners never expected this employee to do this. On April 2nd, 2025, officers responded after a business reported that one of their trusted employees had allegedly been stealing from the company. Here's what management told the police upon arrival. [music] >> This way. >> Sounds Sounds good to me. >> Excellent. This is Stacy. >> Hi Stacy. >> Hi. I would >> How's your day? >> I would like to say nice to meet you, but >> Yeah. >> I don't like the circumstances of meeting you. >> So, you have an employee that's taking from you guys? >> Yeah. Quite a bit. >> Oh, jeez. Okay. >> A lot. >> I see you guys so >> We sold a lot of radios. >> Yeah. >> [laughter] >> So, essentially who is this person? Obviously, you probably have an employee file. I'm assuming you probably did a background check, depending on how many employees you have. >> Yeah. >> Well, he he actually worked for us way back in 2002. >> Okay. >> He was an 8-year employee. Do you remember the Nextel phone radios? >> Okay, so how long ago was this? >> We believe this all happened in this past quarter. At the end of last year, we did physical inventory. >> Okay. >> Everything was fine. We just did at the end of first quarter physical inventory. >> 25,000. >> And there's a bunch of stuff >> Oh my lord. >> Empty boxes. I mean >> I believe it. >> What is it? >> Oh, yeah. March just ended, so you probably just did an internal audit right now. So, he's a former employee, or is he a current employee? >> He was He was working here for us for 8 years. That department closed down. That was He was my best customer service rep. Um I had a personal friendship with him. And then the opportunity came out about two a little over 2 years ago. >> I would say it was right around March of 2023. So, >> a position in our service department and it was like almost seemingly perfect. Like, yes, come home, come back to the family. This is great. >> Got it. So, he's like a known person. >> Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. >> We all work together. We're all friends. I mean, most of us are all long-time employees here. >> Okay, so he's been employed since Now, again, this March 23. >> Yeah, basically 2023. >> Okay, what's his position here? >> He um service coordinator. >> Management claims the suspect managed to take over $100,000 in cash and equipment before anyone realized what was happening. >> So, he sets up service for >> two-way radio >> orders or for repairs. >> radio repairs um uh a little bit of uh yeah, basically just radio repairs. >> Okay. >> He does some sales over the phone running coming calls from in. He does know how to do sales and >> What's this guy's name? >> David Dean. >> David Jason Dean is his full name. >> Okay. >> That's why we call him DJ. >> White, black, Hispanic. So, he might be coming in today. >> I I think he's calling in sick. Um he was supposed to be coming in late because he has physical therapy twice a week. He sent an email saying I canceled PT today because I was up vomiting and GI issues. He would have been here by now if he wasn't going to physical therapy. So, I tried to reach out to him like, "Hey, what are you doing? You leaving me here all alone?" And he didn't answer me back, so I'm assuming he's not coming in today. >> That's right. I think he kind of got a heads-up. >> I don't know. I mean, he definitely I don't know. He knows that there's been inventory issues. Um but what I believe, and I believe Stephen and Tom think the same thing, is he's been utilizing the fact that we have a newer system, that there's glitches in the system. That there's mistakes happening within the system and kind of using that almost as a cover on why. So, >> [snorts] >> is he on to us figuring out about the his eBay thing? >> Officers now investigate how the employee allegedly carried out the thefts without immediately raising suspicion. >> I don't know. I don't think so, but maybe he's getting nervous. I'm not sure. >> What's the total dollar amount of stuff he's taking that you've discovered up to this point? 75,000? >> Yeah. >> That's a like a guestimate right now. Just based on Oh, I mean this skimming for months for months for months. >> in repeaters. There's 17 repeaters. It's 23,000 in that. >> 17 repeaters? >> $48,450 to be >> $48,458? >> That's just in one piece of equipment that he took 17 of. That's not including the radios. >> Yeah, cuz I would need exact dollar [music] amount. So, 4,800 >> 4,000 Just for the repeaters, $4,450. >> Or 40,000. >> 48,000? >> 48,000. I'm sorry. >> $450? >> They're 20 2850 each. >> The suspect's return to work the next day gave officers the opportunity to finally confront and detain him. >> Well, right here. Hi, sir. Officers are you aware that Coral Springs Police Department Still need a favor, man. >> No. >> Stay where you're seated. Lean forward. Put your hands behind your back. You're being detained. I'll explain to you what's going on here in a second. I'll just give you a second. Yeah, I got it. Do you have any knives, weapons, anything I need to poke, prick, prod me? >> No, I don't. >> Do you have any disabilities or ailments or anything that I Any injuries that I need to know about or >> I had a back surgery. >> Okay, so yeah. That's about what I can do for you right now with the nothing. Can you just slide this back? I'm going to stand up. I'm going to just going to pat you down right now. And we're going to walk out to my car where we're going to explain to you what is this your property? >> Yeah. >> And this too? Is this yours too? >> Uh yeah, that is. >> Well, All right, I'm going to take this out right here. And then we'll get your bag. Do you have keys or anything? >> They are hanging down on the >> Is that your phone, too? >> Yeah, that's my phone. >> Um >> All right. I'm going to step outside and >> You were my friend. I brought you home. You were my friend. >> 42, we got one detained. >> Management remains shocked that he allegedly chose to steal from the company despite the amount of trust placed in him. Now, he has some difficult questions ahead. >> One detained. >> Um >> Take them out. >> Yeah, I'm just going to read them here and uh ask a question really quick, so Thank you uh Do you understand why we're here? No, I'll explain it to you in a second. Oh, perfect. Just throw them right there. Thank you. And we'll check this here in a second, but uh You going Uh yeah, you can have a seat. Just face us. It's easiest if you face us. And uh sit down. Just use the step. Sit down. You do it right here. All right? >> Yeah. >> All right, man. So, I'm Officer Zeringue here conducting an investigation reference uh some stuff going on here at your at your job, okay? I'm going to read you your rights, okay? Um you heard your Miranda warnings before? >> Yes. >> Okay. Uh again, I it's just something that the business asked. I I don't know you personally. We're just here investigating. Obviously, there's always two sides to every side of the story and stuff. And I would love to hear your side because there's some allegations that they're alleging and they want to move forward with prosecution, you know what I mean? So, um that being said, uh you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You have the right to the presence of an attorney prior to your while you're being questioned. If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, one will be appointed at the county's expense to represent you before any questioning if you so wish. You decide at any time to exercise these rights and not answer any questions or make any statements. Do you understand each of these rights I've explained to you? >> Yes. >> Having these rights in mind, do you wish to talk to us? >> With a Miranda warning complete, the decision to speak with officers is now entirely up to the suspect. >> Uh I'll answer any questions that are >> Okay. >> I'll answer them if I can. >> Okay. So, like I said, right now you're detained, okay? Um I obviously, you're in handcuffs, you're in the back of a police car, um but I didn't show up here for no reason. >> Okay. >> You know? Um you know, there's been a bunch of missing equipment >> Yes. >> from the business and uh I know where it's been going and where it's being sold and all that. But again, sometimes people do things out of desperation, sometimes they do things for whatever reason, you know what I mean? They have their reasons. Can you tell me what's going on with that? >> I'm guilty of it. Yes. >> You're guilty of what? >> Of the allegations. >> What are the allegations? >> Of the stolen items that were sold. >> So, so you're you're selling the items where? >> Um, careful. Sell them on eBay. >> On eBay? >> Yeah. >> Okay. What's your eBay handle? >> Um, it's I guess it's deep discounts now. >> Deep discounts now? And that's registered to you? >> Yes. >> And the PayPal that everybody pays you to is registered to you as well? >> Uh, it's actually to my bank. >> To your bank? So, it directly links to your bank account? >> Mhm. >> Okay. How long have you been employed here, man? >> Uh, off and on. I was here from 2003 to 2010 and then brought back 2000 and uh 2003 >> Okay. >> to current. >> Do you ever live in Kissimmee? >> Yes. >> Okay. Is that where like you where you opened up the the eBay account and stuff when you're up there? You've had it longer? >> Who's down here? >> Who's down here? >> Yeah. >> Like I said, it's not personal. I mean, I appreciate you being honest with us. So, you know, everybody's got their reasons why they do things like that. >> Now comes the moment where officers press him for the biggest answer of all. >> Do you know how much equipment you've taken? >> Um, you mean dollar wise or equipment >> Monetary or or uh equipment wise? Like number of items. >> Quite a lot. >> Yeah, a lot? And what kind of items are you taking? >> They were radios and repeaters. >> Radios and repeaters? It's the same stuff that's been sold on your account. And when did you start this? >> Uh, I'd say about November. >> November you started? >> Yes. >> Okay. And how long have you been selling on eBay? >> Overall in general? >> Yeah, just in general. >> I used to sell a long time ago, but um >> No, no, no. I'm talking about the stuff that you you stolen from the business. >> November. But I actually had another uh account when I was selling. Uh that they told me >> What was that account? >> Uh it's under my name, David Jason D. I think that's it. >> And you sold [clears throat] that one, you said? >> No. That I sold my account? >> Yeah. >> No. Um I still have it. I just don't sell it. I didn't >> Oh, you don't sell on it anymore. >> Right. I still >> But initially you started selling on that one and then you switched to Deep Discounts now. >> Yeah, yeah. >> Cuz you're like, well, this is too obvious, right? >> Um well, no. I started a business and um Uh to November 2020 three. >> Okay. At any time did anybody authorize you at the business to sell like third party or anything like that? Like to sell on your own independent from the business here. Did anybody authorize you in order to sell the radios and repeaters? >> No. >> No? So you never gained any permission from anybody. You know, do you still have any property in your possession? Like at home? >> I don't waste time. >> No? Everything you sell like right away? >> Yeah, yeah. >> Okay. You got great reviews online. >> With the investigation nearly complete, officers now begin wrapping up the case. >> You very communi- you communicate very well, so you're a rated eBay-er, but uh I mean, I appreciate the honesty. >> Yeah. >> You know. Um Yeah. Everybody's got reasons why they do things. >> I did have a reason. It wasn't because I was lacking money. It was more of a Like I said, I They didn't uh pay me. They didn't pay me. but that happened with 3 months ago and I should be working still and stuff like that. And I got into a car accident at the same time. >> Careful. >> And the lawyer says, "Well, this was, you know, $12,000 that you're receiving." And he goes, "I'm surprised you didn't go after your company." I'm like, "Well, I would think they would have done something for me but they never did and so I got really angry. And I'm like, "All right, these guys are never going to pay me back for my injuries and stuff like that." So, They There's a lot of things that they do for other people there. And I was never going to get a raise and people are doing other things but they are well aware of it and they just let it slide and I'm just like, "You're going to let that slide." Jeez, but they never do anything for me. Really? I'm like, "Okay." And I got really angry and I just said, "Well, I'll just sell what I can to make up for what I should have earned during workman's comp and being out for almost a year." So, I got you. >> Ultimately, the man was charged with grand theft, dealing in stolen property, and communications fraud. This employee's first day ends before it even begins. In our final case, officers responded to the mooring clubhouse in Florida after reports of a battery. Here's what they found when they arrived. >> Hi. >> We have someone on our face. >> I see he's down there. I'm coming in there. Too late. All right, sir. Officer Crowder with the Naples Police Department. Put your hands behind your back. >> All right. >> I get it. I got it. >> All right, at this time you're detained, okay? You're not under arrest, you're just being detained. All right, I'm just making sure he understands. I I'm going to get you a second. Give me a second. on a job I think. Okay. You refused to leave smoking. You were smoking in the facility. >> I feel it right here in my chest. >> All right, when I asked him to leave I tried to escort him. Do you want to press charges against him? >> Yeah, definitely. >> Okay, for assaulting you too? >> Yep. >> Okay. He's under arrest. >> Everything's on film. >> It's right here. I'm filming too. >> No, and they they got film too. >> Awesome. All right. >> Everything's on film. >> You want me to read you your Miranda? I'm going to read you your Miranda now. Give me a second. >> Sit him up. What's up? Come on, stand up. Stand up. The reason I can't tell All right, come on. All right, that's my stuff. >> Can you grab my stuff? >> We will. We'll come back. Have a good day. >> It's not from your car. >> Dispatch, call 13 and 10-4, brother. >> Just pat him down first. >> No. Any weapons or anything that can stick me or poke me? >> No. >> With the arrest complete, officers now prepare to load the suspect [music] into the police vehicle. >> I don't have anything in my wallet. >> We'll check. >> I have nothing. >> Hello, number 6224. >> It's fine. >> 75 >> I know, Juliet Romeo Alpha >> This is his items. This guy looks like he's having a struggle. That's what he had. He says he had a non-smoking campus. He started smoking after some sort of job interview. He's sitting out here. Do you have a trash can? >> Yeah. >> Take care of it. I'll throw it in the trash. Jail won't take those. That's why. So. Did he give you his name, date of birth, and stuff? ID or anything? >> The person that was interviewing him told us his first name is Christopher. >> Okay. But you don't have like a license number or anything? I said we just need you to extinguish your cigarette and leave. Okay. I said well, I said nobody wants to do that. So just extinguish the cigarette and you leave. I don't want to leave. So I said all right, I'm going to help you up. I went to grab my elbow and he turned with the other hand and he tried to put the cigarette out on my chest. So, it's a smoke-free campus. >> Okay. I understand it, but I was sitting there for like 20 minutes before she approached me.
