cat oh appreciate it thank you all right let's see what we can find out okay an hour later officers arrive at the restaurant where the stolen credit card was used they locate the gas station employee and confront her about the alleged transaction hi are you Kimberly yeah hi I'm officer Woody this is Officer Myers Hi how are you doing hi you you actually just spoke on the phone yep okay so you work at Speedway I do did somebody come in there yesterday making a purchase leave their credit card I don't know what was the card you used to purchase his his uh food with um who's mine do you have it I C [Applause] [Music] ah I'm was see my white one I'm missing my white [Music] one huh yep these are the ones I use okay although the employee hands over several credit cards the stolen one is not among them so if we go in there and we talked to the people at Sunny's and they give us the receipt for this order and they give us the last four it's going to match one of these that's the one my boyfriend should have used okay which one which one are they going to which one is it going to show us it should be the white one which white one this one yeah that white one that's my card cuz that's the one we use on the app most of the time okay and I have my chime but I don't ever use that anymore you mind checking [Music] yet a SE [Music] car if there other cards in there then you don't need to be searching around there no I was just making sure I didn't have my other credit card [Music] okay okay what are those cards in the front pocket these these are not cards these are okay coupons okay what's the Visa that was in there what visa there's a Visa in the front pocket something said Visa on it it look kind of purplish huh this is my grandma's death card was that other card not that one that one oh that's not that's my boyfriend's It Card rosalin who's rosalin that's not a boyfriend no it's my boyfriend's card he just your boyfriend's name rosalin no my boyfriend's name is not rosn my boyfriend's name is Isaiah but he has it's it's his sisters but it's a it's not a okay watch the suspect's attempt to explain herself and steer suspicion away as the officer confronts her about her actions it's not a Solen car it's not even used it's a it's a prepaid card it's a what it's a prepaid card they're all prepaid cards they get loaded money onto through apps they're all card Hing in so it's not any of these right I don't have any the card that was used for this I don't have any other cards so she had this one but I don't have this she said it was a boyfriend so my boyfriend's sister we have a whole we have obviously I have three two yours yeah yeah I got it right here all right all right so at this point okay I'm going to advise you of your Miranda Rights okay are you familiar with Miranda rights yeah okay so this what I'm going to do is I'm going to invise you your Miranda Rights at the end of it I'll or you'll ask you if you understand and if you want to talk to us okay so let me get through all of them and then we'll go from there okay so am I just to am I being arrested you're being detained at this point okay so you can't aren free to leave you're not free to leave right now okay so actually let's just go over here yeah put s over can I get my phone no let's go have a talk real quick [Music] all right so you have the right to remain silent anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law you have the right to talk to a lawyer no just a receipt you have the right to talk to a lawyer and have him or her present with you while you are being questioned if you cannot afford to hire a lawyer one will be appointed to represent you you can decide at any time to exercise these rights and not answer any questions or statements do you understand each of these rights as I explained them to you yes having these rights in mind do you wish to talk to us now sure okay the officer having read the suspect Her Miranda rights proceeds to question her however the employee maintains her earlier claim firmly denying she stole the credit card what is the the card that's on there the last four what is that card um it's a it has to be a debit card but it's only who all right who placed the order uh my boyfriend your boyfriend yeah and I was just coming to pick it up after donating okay so who's the the card that's on there who it registered to it should be um one of ours it should be yeah sorry I didn't mean to do that so if it's yours that's funny if it's yours then where is it it has to be with him has to be with him yes so where so all right so let me ask you this where do you work at I work at Speedway which one the one right here the one right over here yeah okay so all right so if that card was that card used last night in your store um I don't know okay so if we go back over there and we were run we were to run that that card against anything that was purchased in your store last night or any transaction be F I don't know okay so what does that card look like then if that's one of yours of your boyfriend what does it look like um it would be red I believe red and what would be on it um it's a Florida card okay um it I believe it has believe it has the buck football team on it what would be the name on it if two are your boyfriends it would have one of your names on it yeah it should be it should be mine it should be yours they should have your name on it yeah okay I always use not trying to hey you stand by as the woman refuses to admit wrongdoing despite the evidence the officers take decisive action and secure in handcuffs you mind holding on to that for me thank you have the best F management I know I really like give me a favor this time you're being placed under arrest for identity theft going get [Music] back we'll figure all that out okay make that a little more [Music] comfortable okay go all right can believe we're going to take a walk over here and we're going see back with the scer okay so where is that part at who made the order right not need to be honest with me where [Music] that mine's right over there I got a half cage in it but we can do either [Music] one put her in here since it's cold all right so then so you place your order then where the par where is it showing no resistance the suspect cooperates with the officers as they patter down and guide her to the patrol car hold on offic before I uh patch down is there anything on you we'll get to all that don't worry okay um is there anything on you that I need to know about any Contraband what knives weapons no any that you shouldn't have on you okay I just have to ask if you do have something on you up in you it'll an extra charge you get up jail do you understand yeah okay all right what kind of bra do you have on like a wire bra yeah it's a wire bra perfect and back up a little bit for me and just bend it your waist perfect sorry my hair is like 80 ft long f i very very long want on your STS for me oh sure right all right slide your foot out make sure there's nothing up in your underneath your feet [Music] okay just hop in for me it's easier if you step up and then go butt first yeah so so Step Up Turn toward there you go all right do you want to relocate or do you want to stay here let's realate Okay we go we can probably go back around the side there's not much on the back oh you want to go behind yeah okay yeah we'll go over there and then we'll go figure it out from viap and everything okay the officers now informed the woman about protocol and prepared to escort her to jail until the end the woman refuses any involvement with a transaction what what do you need from your car we can grab it for you I just I was wondering if I can I just need to make I need to make a s for my pH I just need to tell my boyfriend said I'm going to jail okay you can do that when you get up to jail is there like the only reason I'm saying that is cuz it's an internet phone I don't know the phone number to it and he's saying at the EXP right now okay so how about this I can write the phone number down for you so when you get up to jail you'll have it do you have your phone you can take all that with you yeah it's and they'll let you go through your phone to to to get phone numbers to make phone calls so what let me ask you this what do you need from your car obviously car yeah tissue tissue yeah [Music] TI hey not being piggy but when you search you pull that out and look in it I knew I watched her put it in there before you even got here yeah off I just don't yeah yeah yeah oh sorry yeah you're fine you're fine the Viper but I'm see if we can get a number on that that if you want I'll send you the statute for it I already have all right yeah appreciate it yeah okay your phone okay the suspect was later charged with fraudulent use of personal information and illegal possession of personal identification but all charges were later dropped number four Walmart employee caught skipping and scanning items Georgia police head to a Walmart where an employee is accused of skip scanning items upon arrival the officers head straight to the security room where the suspect is being held I'm go Che your information got just run to the car quick B how are you you you say yeah okay appreciate you thank you your anym somebody party too hard and miss the step and thr near broke ankle thanks so whenever anything's over in dollar amount and when y'all don't have IDs we have to call the police because we have no clue who yall are plus the dollar amount we have to so we're going from there right now then we'll get you done rest I know you went you act like you're about to SC because you took the gun off but then I don't know if you all talked about it said no let's not do it and you never did so I was hoping you did it's $21 just for a bag of rice we have to call the cops if anything's $25 or more so if you paid for that but you didn't pay for this even if you didn't pay for that and yall had ID you would just go home or I only have color cups but because you have you don't have ID you can say you're president and I don't know but youself they know that so we all can try to work stuff out what was the total 40 bucks in total the employee was caught skipp scanning $38.75 worth of food wait that's 40 bucks total for all that for all it yeah oh cuz the rice was 20 yeah yeah the rice was 20 and then the chips are like five six didn't tell it's like your girl are expensive now we make right all the time but we did it from like the international market yeah and C it's like $50 for head FL you keep an eye on it just in case they pop up are you sure we never did I just so are you just on leave are like were you were you planning on coming back after school or did you quit to just go to school no I was on leave but I don't like I stay at school yeah where at can did you work here she used to where do you go to school okay despite being caught both the employee and her accomplice appear willing to cooperate with the officers steady not crazy though traffic's been horrible today though with that one the lane being closed Paving my God took 15 minutes to this last half mile the red light2 no down no I know no no the red light up here at Target if you're coming out of Target turn on the cop Parkway the line was literally backed up to the Target building I was like holy cow took me 15 minutes to get from Target to North cop High School it's like no thank you it's ridiculous today I probably sat at each red light for like four or five Cycles it's felt like I'm like is long you I know you doing oh no no I was just here CU okay I know they were here okay all right there call and everything yeah yeah okay we just don't really have ID because I don't have all give second it's $40 ex is 3874 okay 401 radio can you want to see on both those subjects after completing background checks and printing the paperwork the officer heads back inside to formally present the suspects with their charges and [Music] citations all right Miss Keith Mr Keith and Miss syvia we're GNA instead of arresting I'm going to release y on a citation okay um you're still going to be charge of shoplifting less than 500 it's a misdemeanor you will have to appear in our city court okay we have a court date of May 11th at 9:00 a.m. I mean you have to appear failure to appear oh you need their names yeah yeah um failure to appear result in a bench warrant for your arrest okay that do you have any questions about that so what happens when we go or do not um you know it'll be like an arraignment so the judge will explain what the charges are to you and it's kind of like you'll decide if you want to plead guilty not guilty can't give you legal advice it's going to be up to you when you get there um by the first Court dat will be like an arraignment but you do have to appear [Music] far as Walmart I believe they can leave the items these items good for so y'all be good to go they say yall can take these items so spe sure Y show up for that court date May 11th it's on the bottom right um it's May 11th at 9:00 a.m. before allowing the suspects to leave the officer informs them about their citation and ensures they understand the responsibility to appear in court and the address and phone number to the court and everything are on the back so it's not fine like it's not a f you can just pay over the phone you'll have to appear in court on it so oh that's not a fine no no it is a fine I'm saying it's not like a regular ticket you can just pay it and not go like you do have to go all that will be set by the judge what's crazy is I didn't even recognize her how long ago has she been gone um before I came back she went on leave so I've been back since November so she probably been going October but theyve have her stealing stuff we supped to I was supped to before like as an employee she was steing up too be okay three different days and that's I that was last year last year that's where I'm talking to the judge and y' didn't okay yeah I can put that got in the report I didn't know that I guess she's never charged or anything with that she was gone to school so we were like oh kind didn't worry about it you know it's I don't think it was ever anything insane Little Mountain like that so it was like well okay kind of hoping that she comes back but that's exactly her and him this is the last time it's done there so looks like whatever that is and a case of water uhhuh I have the receipt to say it's just not up right now oh yeah so I think the other Cas was the test I remember looking at this video what they paid for today water so whatever that little thing is they didn't for whatever that was it was never like a little red bag or something it's enough to get for sure she was just we have selection on this one this one might be the employees theft involved a sack of rice chips and other food items but it's still unclear whether this was an isolated incident or part of a pattern janky ass old cam yeah yeah C test but there's she had something under her hand cuz what she paid for was water bottle for have a test on a dollar yeah man you got me paranoid about the freaking B we have they got sh yeah today someone took baby formula no no but the the ones that always SE it h that's why here gotcha oh his fireworks John for it was a 20 or $30 pack of fireworks and that box is like $20 really yeah I remember this I believe on thurs and about that yeah surprised I haven't met that one and charge good four we have yeah cuz the fourth one three they're all in AAR already so three 936 do go through and this today would have been four yeah today would four yeah after reviewing more video evidence the store's loss and prevention staff found clear proof that the employee had committed theft on previous shifts however it's not revealed whether the store decided to press charges about the other incidents of theft so should have so that's what I would do then if y'all are wanting to press charges on these previous dates I would try to go to the judge on Thursday cuz clearly they don't care they're going to keep doing it if she used a car today we can actually other days I'm sure there's more then because this quit watching her she left first time her is August see what's it for us though yeah cuz is it with y'all it's two years for what like statute limitations or I'm going state state see I don't know what Walmart's poliy about I can ask any because if we could run their card and stuff today because they're together almost every time they're here yeah and then see if we can build anymore oh we'll find more and that way help sticking it'll look a little better so it's one at least one more case from this year it'll look a lot better both suspects were ultimately charged with shoplifting less than $500 a misdemeanor under the law number three thrip Store employee steals over $20,000 from employer Florida officers respond to a Plato's Closet after reports of an employee allegedly stealing during her shifts the woman's employer revealed that the employee orchestrated fraudulent transactions enabling her to steal undetected for months watches the officers and a detective talk with her employer about the case to no absolutely front no sir okay um now the video surveillance um as I noticed there's the 14th from this morning Y and if I got that correct you can't pull up any records or print out are you able to print out anything from the registers from maybe yesterday but not today okay so nothing from today like I know some registers like you can't do a finalized report up front but you might be able to print like a yeah I can probably I can probably call Laura and get it done and she might be able to do it and send it over to me gotcha yeah okay now I those your cameras to the 14th and 12th what happened to the 13th there was two days there were you able to get a third day is today the 14th or the 13th today's the 14th it it was the 13th and 14th she did not on the 12th did I put the 12th we'll just ask I thought yeah you wrote 12 on the envelope so all right so the date is wrong on the envelope so it's today Y and yesterday okay and did you go back to look at anything on the today's was she working on the on 12th um no there wasn't there wasn't any Discretions on that on that okay yeah there no discs on that as far as if you look at those sheets that I gave you I think it was just the 13th and the 14th I think the 12th is clear okay does what we're going to try to do is we're going to try to talk to her okay and try to get a confession out of her cuz right now trying to push for scheme of for aity but right now the only evidence that we have is the misdemeanor theft okay okay which is today all all we have right now that we can document and we have evidence on is her stealing money today and stealing money yesterday okay right now so as far as the other yeah 9 months mon the officers explained to the store owner the steps to ensure the investigation proceeds smoothly with thousands of dollars at stake the man remains determined to press charges against the employee I mean this this can't be ped further because I mean that's just we'd have to really like yeah I know yeah with the evidence there and that's why I re out these are some of my detectives that are coming with me today and we were just trying like listen we're trying to push for the felony and all that kind of money but as far as like the evidence you on the state could sit there and turn around and be like well how do we prove just because yeah so she gets on the computer it's her number she's the only one that can get in the computer with her number that's why the inventory that's why I told you about that inventory you're willing to do the inventory the other thing is yeah I already talked to my people they said here's the call data scan get it do the inventory no I I will do it to get my $166,000 back I will do it okay but the the witness right the witness uh no the victim Advocates they don't reimburse for restitution for restitution wise if she goes to jail for the felony right they're not going to get her restitution will they give a restitution to pay back to him the they will okay yeah that's he out any any monetary value oh yeah they take that into consideration and so let's say we get her and she only has 5 grand well they're going to tack on 11,000 if we can prove that it was $166,000 they would attack on the 11,000 for restitution okay all I got to do is an inventory and merchandise isn't here and was still in the computer and never sold it's fake it's fake it's fake and that can do yes we need all of that okay that so I'm going to have to do it I'll have to call data scan and get that done cuz let's say today we figure all this out and let's say we talk to she said yeah I did absolutely every bit of it I'm sorry for doing it now we have to prove so the charge that we she would get would not only stick if that evidence was provide it if it doesn't drop the whole case it end up being like a petty theft or something just based off the last few days that they can prove On video okay State wants to prove it we can prove it later after we arrest her because there's still time for trial and stuff yeah that's why that's such an issue for us as far as in a row yeah it just sabotage the whole yeah degree of crime should committed so I'll get I'll I'll do I'll do a play other thing on it no problem okay cool yeah unfortunately with the employees scheme going on for months a considerable amount of video footage months of inventory and fake receipts needed to be compiled to solidify the case a few weeks maybe a month to get it done but I can do it and and that's why I mentioned that earlier cuz I did explain to him you know earlier that hey without that inventory we we can Le slam and say I'm missing 1,000 pieces of I thoroughly understand what you're talking about all right proof proof all right okay I've got it on the computer now I got to show it to you in the uh inventory okay all right all right all right we'll meet you in there in a second I'm we're going to take her in the back and that's cool with you take her back to the back office talk to unless you want to theot how are you good Deputy ly mind if I talk to you for a few minutes we go in the back sure all right I'll let you leave the way to the office before beginning their interrogation the officers formally read the suspect's Miranda Rights ensuring she was aware of her legal protections you oh d i oh he doesn't that's all right just [Music] so anytime I talk to anybody I read the morand them right okay anytime I talk to anybody okay so you have the right to remain silent anything you say we held against your court law okay you have the right to talk to a lawyer for advice before we ask you any questions and have him present during any question okay okay if you cannot afford a lawyer one will be appointed to you at no cost okay decid to answer questions out way a president you still have the right to stop at any time request law to be president all right do you understand those right yeah okay so I wanted to talk to you cuz I have video surveillance M okay about the past couple days while you've been working doing these buys yeah okay and you take these buys I see you on camera taking cash putting in your pants you want to tell me a little bit about that uh yeah um going to be honest with you but we're to part right now to just fix it so just being honest and helping us do the right thing and figure it out is the best way to does that make sense we've already been looking at this all morning so we're not here to we're not here to get you to tell us everything we know a lot already so that's why we're just asking for you to be honest right so um that's important that's how you fix things I me especially cameraing and stuff like that does that make sense I mean I'm just trying to be hon I'm trying to be helpful because that's where we're at yeah and moving forward that's how you do fix things yeah I just want to fix things I I that's that's what we that's what we want to do too and make the officers attempt to get a confession from the woman but instead she chooses to downplay her actions and we take things in our ears the best way to make things right is to give it back cuz that really helps with the whole process of where we found ourselves yeah s so you want to tell us kind of what's been going on Le has been going on for a while so we kind of to get to the bottom of it um I just been having some stuff that I don't want and uh well majority of it is yeah I should have be taking money from him um for two times I have done that um the other times now have you brought where is this stuff that you brought in it's already like out on the floor but it's just been like two purses and a pair of shoes but anything else I he said honestly he's been a big ke here cuz I've watched the video surveillance it is you're not bring you're not bringing anything in the store you're not bring well the LA the last like probably like I want to say two weeks ago I have been I brought in two purses and a pair of shoes but um for the rest of the part the rest of the times I have it so you would say only twice is that am I correct only twice you brought in actual merchandise swapped it out yes for the other the rest of the times you have done these transactions you just scam the register yeah to think that there was a buy done yes okay how many times do you think you've done this in the past year um I want to say lot of the questions he's asking me we already know the answers too so that's how you're yeah I'm I'm trying to think want CH because that's all weing that helps your C trust me it is the officers aimed to uncover the extent of the theft questioning the woman about how many times she's stolen and the total amount she took look say more than 200 times more than 200 yeah I wouldn't say that less than 200 I I don't even think it's 200 times but I'm pretty sure 100 times how about how about this how much money do you think you take about I want to say a th000 how me a, yeah cuz I have all documentation I have paperwork dating back until January and I see all the and it's totaling way more than $1,000 you're doing a couple hundred you're doing hundred and something dollars a day how much did you take today was like 150 I think is that typically what you're taking a day yeah I would say is it always over 100 is that thing to say yeah and would you say that you've done it at least 20 times so if it's over 100 you've done it BBE 20 times that's 2,000 right there and that's a rough estimate right see what I mean how that adds up so where is this money um I have it you're saving it you have it yeah you have all the money I I I don't know how much it would be if I were to say $116,000 would that be about what it is yeah do you think you have all that $16,000 yeah okay and what what's what's going on why is it this do you have you ever been in trouble no I haven't a longtime employee of the store the woman's actions left her employer in disbelief watch as she attempts to rationalize her actions to the officers I'm just living in a hard spot right now um I live with a roommate and like I've been on my own for a while and I also feel like I've been 220 go ahead I've been working with him for a while and um and I feel like I do so much you like you're underpaid yeah and I know that's not his fault um at all like I should probably look for another job but it's like I feel bad for him like if I do leave and so what do you think what do you think will happen to him when he's sitting here going on now $16,000 know is going good it's kind it's it's not fair I shouldn't I should not be doing that right I take full responsibility and I whatever comes with that we we appreciate that uh and consequence is this is this is it because he hasn't paid you have you been paid oh I have I have I have been paid um have you SE before no I know this makes me look like a stealer like I'm stealing money like I'm that's like the most thing you could probably ever steal from somebody it probably makes me look bad it makes me look that I steal things but I don't this this is why I'm just asking because there could be people who I mean we do this for a living we can read people so you can have somebody who does this on a daily basis I know trust me cuz if somebody was in front of me and I'm like well you stole money like we're a stealer you Ste your away the officers extend understanding toward the employee but her actions and demeanor suggests her remorse may not be sincere but you're having a hard time like I said everybody goes through hardships we do stupid things we make mistakes yes and but this is a big mistake right but at least you're owning up to a mistake yes and I I don't want to label it as a mistake cuz that's just making me have sympathy for myself but I do take full responsibility for whatever can I clarify something with you you said so now we're up to said a th000 originally we all agreed there's more than that you're saying there's 16,000 voted right and where is that at right now I have it with me or 16,000 um not yeah where in my bank in your bank yes so you've made cash deposits with the money and put it into your savings in your bank or something yes who do you bank with regents regents I can give him money that I've taken from him where's that at in my bank you've already cashed from this morning you already put in there no where I have where is it still on you where you Tu it on your left side no it's it's in my I feel really bad for doing this where's your first right now in the back well I guess we can go get that we'll all go together I just feel really are you take that money out of your purse to give that makes sense and I'm willing to give back the money that I still it's good it's just I feel really feel really bad understand you made a mistake it it's it's not a mistake no it is it's it's a bad decision and you still made it though and I understand why you feel bad like and it's hard because I worked with him for so long I don't want to stab him he and then another thing I've been having like Dental issues with the officers willing to hear her out the woman continues to justify her theft citing Dental issues Financial struggles and frequent exhaustion as a reasons $8,000 have his system it hurts me a lot and I needed that money like sometimes the assists are not good like I don't know what they do to me but they make me tired know sometimes I'm really dizzy like MTH is constantly listen I listen I hear it I need that money we we understand why people do things to give it you know but you know we learn from our mistakes we got to make sure we adjust from our mistakes you know you're 22 years old but I get that right 21 21 21 going to be 22 yes this year we're going back like how's how long would you say you started doing all this for how long [Music] um I mean since whatever proof you have I mean well you know me I mean I have the proof I want you to be honest with me and tell how long you think you started doing when was your first one do you think like 8 months ago to a to a year okay so you would you say safe enough to say January probably one of the first times you probably but like I said there's times where I've actually had items but majority of the time I I I haven't had it so out of all those buys from January you would say if I'm correct two times was the only times you actually had merchandise that of your own that you swapped out that I can remember yes yeah okay all right so we'll go in there we'll get iron okay get your I don't have keys all right we'll get out there okay this is you right here while the woman offered to repay the stolen money she did not disclose how much was taken instead she agrees that she stole about $116,000 when the officer suggested the amount the officers and store management now face the task of reviewing the inventory and receipts to piece together the full extent of the loss all right this is today's buddy love you it was $183 is what she said was was so want you go ahead and count that for me Lord holy God are you this is today 2 3 4 One 3 4 two 2 three 4 three 1 23 I think some of that is my money but I'm 70 37 four and how much was stolen in the P how much did you take in the past two days can I talk to him to who Aon Aon she wants to say something to you he wants to talk to you $116,000 you RI me off I could be doing good instead I'm taking out a loan to survive because you stole $166,000 from me since January what did you want to say I'm honestly just so sorry I mean I don't expect you to give me I expect you to pay me back oh I I am I'm going to pay you back I don't expect you to forgive me I've been good to you nothing but good to you always treated you as my number one one it was nothing against you it was my personal issues it was it was nothing towards you I believe all right I'm going to grab your bag here you're just going to call me all right okay um do I have to go to the FR I'm not going to put in handc we going to walk out we're going to walk out the front door okay okay watch your back where um ultimately the woman was charged with felony grand theft and sentenced to 5 years of probation along with $20,000 in restitution fees number two Walmart employee runs a refund scam and finally gets caught up next this employee took advantage of his access to Walmart's system conducting a refund scheme where he kept old receipts and issued fake refunds for personal gain Florida officers arrive on the scene as the store's loss prevention team explains how he pulled it off but he's doing a refund for himself with no up the customer service test and well yeah CU you can't do it on regular registers so you probably could but mostly it's been in service test okay you can do it in any register but employe mainly is done at the service because an employee has access to the codes to get into because I can't get myself a refund as a customer no oh so he has codes and he has authorization to do anything basically up okay so basically he pulls a pull a receipt out of his pocket goes up to the register scans a receipt and just does a refund and if it goes back to his card say this computer everything goes immediately back to his card refund was done crumbles up that receipt gets a return s the return SLI isst to go on the merchandise crumbles up that returns look throws it on trash so nobody ever knows nobody ever knows how'd you come across it we just noticed so this is what he does this is own okay re is in his pocket which you don't do hold out a receipt which we don't do and there's nobody standing there so there's people there but no that I'm saying like customer that he helping yeah yeah there's there's no customer he pulled it out of his own pocket there's nobody there doing a Recon yeah clearly okay he scans it but then all of a sudden can I go back real quick we'll see you come up I'm sure he scans it cuz you can you know what this the point of sale screen is doing so I don't know I don't know you don't I don't know how to do a refund oh you don't okay but I I do know that um I'm was trying to show see you get get an item but then he sees me this is me coming he just cancel the whole thing cancels it cancels it goes back to a regular Shing and puts it back in his pocket yep the employee scheme was simple yet effective by holding on to receipts and using his access to store codes he scanned the receipts issued fake refunds and pocketed the money over time this tactic allowed him to steal more than5 ,000 and then when did y'all then grab him to um shortly after that or do you think he's coming back and does it again he might have came back and did it again but um right before I called dispatch right when I called dispatch when they walked up to tell you what happened right it could be you know depending on what it is it goes back like 30 minutes how you doing good I'm here but I'm not sitting sit there that's fine but going be charged what rude you I just don't to let's go back in the office real quick you don't have to sign any paperwork all right so I think we've met a few times yes sir on he yeah that's what I was I was thinking um so before we get started you're not free to leave because obviously we're we're investigating you have the right to remain silent anything you say can will be held against you in a court of law you have the right to talk to a lawyer and have them present with you while you're being questioned if you cannot afford to hire a lawyer one will be appointed to represent represent you before any questioning if you wish and you can decide at any time to exercise these rights not answer any questions or make any statements you say these rights read to you with these rights in mind you wish to answer some questions morning okay go back it up for me you can let go your fingers with a suspect choosing to invoke his right to remain silent after being read his rights the officers move to handcuff him and Pat him down these things let me let me lock them so when you sit down they don't tighten up on you these things aren't made for Comfort your palms are supposed to stay like that if you try to twist it's probably going to hurt okay all right before you sit down do you have anything on you that's going to hurt me poke me stick me uh anything that could be illegal no no not illegal uh but I do have um needles in my pocket and they're for my diabetes okay so I have um are they at uh in your pocket in my pocket and are they capped no one's been used but it's um quick pen so it's it oh like EP pen like a like a well I have the pen but then I also have the needle top so it's like a pen and then you have to unhook it and put a need which which pocket I believe my left pocket okay or my left okay well we're going to start with your right so this was yours yes you want another sip before we go okay no thank you thank you for asking got cop all right so obviously there's certain things that you can't take into the jail with you yeah well like that right I'm not going to let you take those in well my only thing is well I'll yeah I mean they have everything I just cuz last time they almost so and I'm not I know that's not yours but yeah I know I can't take them in there but I just don't want to die almost this time yeah no so what what I'll do though is I'll actually take pictures that way I'll and I'll talk to the nurse and like this is what he had on him so and like I've got my braet and I know they probably won't let me keep that they should I just don't want to die when I get in there I mean I'm not blam well they didn't give medicine for my 11 days you're almost me like I was in a hospital a chance for seven of them the suspect remains Cooperative but before being escorted out of the store the man makes one request to the officers what do you want me to do with your knife out way I guess okay I mean I know I can't take it in there yeah no they won't take liquids or anything in there throw it all the way there well VI well yeah I guess they're not going to let in there so the only thing they're going to let you take is this stuff you want me to turn your phone for you uh I was hoping that somebody would let me at least call my girlfriend and tell her he kep throw it in your truck wanted I guess my truck's not here my girlfriend picks me up I just wanted to let her know that I'm going to jail so she cuz she has my truck and it's not well we uh when we get out the car I'll let your caller that way we let them get back to work so uh go ahead and stand back up for me there any way that with the respect to Walmart that I can walk out with you and not and cuffs um well the handcuffs aren't going to come off and only thing I can do is I can have another unit come and sit with you and I can walk you out the back door but I don't know I can't guarantee there's going to be anybody anyway yeah I mean took yeah they're all tied up right now I had just cleared a call can I is there any way you can just take my shirt off of me so I don't have to walk out like customers realizing right now he's that's fun I mean the question if not then that's not uh no I'm just going to put it back in this pocket you say that for me yeah you're not going toble to get the shirt off without okay without that's the question [Music] despite his request the man was escorted through the store in handcuffs and still wearing his uniform and the AC's on like full blast or if it's not I'll get it on and again I just want to confirm you have nothing else on you have any necklaces or anything oh yeah I do have necklaces NE we'll take off when we get there but um no nothing else would be a felony inside okay and when we get there we'll let you uh they'll let you take your earrings out he did admit everything to write a statement that's and then he would talk to me okay fair enough I'll get you guys see it in just a second I got to ask you some questions first so this goes from January 17th yeah I've got them all the way back to January 17th each one of these is a separate transaction that he refunded right and either he got cash or he put it on a gift card or he refunded it back to and I'm assuming 91 and 94 the register reg okay that's what I'm saying but I'm assuming those are customer service register not a normal register okay cash refund shopping card is just a gift card gift cards like like gift I mean Walmart gift card walm gift cards okay Vis is his Visa yeah like back to his Debit Visa right yeah I'm assuming it was the one of his debit cards yeah or credit card uh what's NP question this is actually nothing I was printing each one of them off and my printer messed up so I was notating which ones didn't print oh not printed okay yeah these these two sections aren't really the thing you guys need to know okay trying to break down each transaction that we had him on okay cool before heading to the station the officer examines the evidence that the store's loss and prevention compiled so I I watched a video I watched the video today so basically what he would do is he would um purchase something have a receipt from when he purchased something on his however he paid for it his receipt he would he would pull receipts out of his pocket throughout the day he would be at the service desk he would just go into the refund screen so they may not have been stuff that he purchased yeah it could have been stuff he found um I did have I know I had one that was I know was not him it was uh it was like a $35 charger that a girl had purchased cuz I had literally went back she left the receipt probably this somehow he he ended up with the receipt and got cash back yes so it could be something that she just left the receipt on the counter and he just grabbed it and pocket it and you can find receipts all over the parking lot garbage um but over time 4550 feel like it should be higher that but I guess y'all haven't called us that much this year oh get ready for it we we're getting them in the office but we're not calling on at least 80% of them yeah all right well did you'all want him trespass he said he's not coming back but that's up to yall yes okay I'll say yes all right you want to come tell him or do you want me to just do it for you I was going to tell you something I'm going to grab your phone out here I wasn't in there buddy I mean I was part of the investigation saw what what all the stuff happened um you said you you're not going to come back to Walmart well we're going to make that legal that's fine so don't come back to the property bu that's fine the officers along with a store manager informed the man that he's now legally banned and trespassed from Walmart baring him from entering the premises for a year no you did what you had to do and we did what we had to do no I got you I'm not I'm not mad at nobody I'm mad at myself you got caught I'm mad at myself no no I have no no no heart or anything so you're you're being trespassed from Walmart for a year if you come back in that anytime in that year you'll be arrested yeah all right you understand that yes sir all right all right Suzanne uh my baby just suzan my baby or something like that from recents is it just Suzanne no it's Suzanne my my baby there oh I just saw it right there y I know how she's going to pick up too she be so excited that she's coming get please don't not pick up on one [ __ ] did she work she's got my car but we were supposed to head out of town on Saturday and like she's coming to get hey honey it's uh 1:40 on Friday I know you're about to come pick me up but uh I'm getting arrested um uh for from Walmart uh so don't of course don't pick me up but if you can call Nicole and let her know um so she can possibly let Laura LI or if you can get a hold of Laura LI or Lily and let well don't let them know right now but get a hold of Nicole and let her know and uh I love you and I'll call you when I'm done with jail or when I can call you thank you sir so so your phone's not blowing up on the way there oh sure no wants the phone off too the man later received 5 years of probation number one when crying doesn't help you get out of an arrest a routine audit at a Florida Dollar General uncovers a $114,000 discrepancy in the store's finances the investigation points to an employee leading the store to involve law enforcement watch as the officers talk to the suspect who's already being held in the store security room get very clear because because I'm not going to trample over her civil rights because somebody else did it was all just to pay my mom my brother's funeral he just died understand he just told me if I were I wouldn't go to understand that regardless of what statements are made right that is for you to dispute with a lawyer as far as we are concerned you have now committed the act of Grand Theft that is a felony we have no choice we must make an arrest and we must take you in they are the entity representing the business and they are requesting that we take law law enforcement action against you that is our position on it okay regardless of whether we think that their investigation went right or wrong as far as we are concerned we are going to conduct our investigation in the proper order okay what you mirand yeah okay the only I wrote that told me I wouldn't go to jail if I wrote that he was right here with me sitting saying that so we're not going to take that or use it I know I know so that's I mean that's just going to be something to that's my that'll be for their records and as far as we are concerned we will give you the opportunity if you would like to to make a statement and we will document it properly okay um just a moment here while we sort things out I'll close the door yeah according to the suspect her supervisor questioned her and promised that a confession and written statement would spare her from jail believing this she complied and admitted to taking the money please take back door or something I'm sorry can you take me the back door don't put me in handcuffs please um thank well I don't care I been here 3 years please I don't know yeah just relax for a second they not quite there yet and are you her supervisor normally okay so she's made the statement to us that she was um told that if she provided a a statement um that she would that you guys would not pursue prosecution as long as you did make that statement to her okay okay I'll just I'm here because I I was trying to save her you know what I mean the l l so she's going to do her thing yeah I was trying to at least she was willing to corporate yes I was assuming that L prevention was going to take take that into consideration and accept you know like a deal you but it look like she yeah unfortunately okay those those kind of so because of that um do you have ID so we can just document that we spoke with feeling that that statement she's she's alleging that that statement was made and um so as far as we are concerned um we can't accept any of this because it was all done under duress and all and under a false pretense she was coerced essentially you you've made false uh pretenses that she wouldn't go to jail and we have nothing to do with that but as far as we just need to document that this is the allegation that she's making and that we properly read her Miranda and we let her know that anything that she states to us at after this point you know Canon will be used against her I just do D and that was awful no I my idea I don't have to have't commit any crime since the woman's statement was obtained under a false Promise by her supervisor the officers have no choice but to disregard it and question her directly to complicate matters the supervisor refuses to cooperate and even declines to provide his ID you're part of the investigation as the authorized representative and as her supervisor who bought her in here you are now part of the investigation you going raise your tone I'm not raising my tone at all sir I've only spoke I'm not afraid but I'm not going to provide my ID because I know know the I'm happy that this is happening I didn't want that to happen to her is4 I am a couple of things ISS is there voice in the camera huh is there voice in the camera no it was all him when he said to me right under the camera right here you tell them the truth so like this officer said regardless of what took place the crime took place so we can't get around that I know so and a lot of times you know people can choose not to prosecute at first and then change their mind can you tell me if I you know what I [Music] mean my glasses are not working today I can't see depit you need the dates I put from m whatever but um I can detail the deposits amount that she admitted to one by one yeah if you can do that and just like the time frame you said April he yeah has e and your brother was um in March right yeah my mom yeah my mom died cancer my brother died heart attack the officers now turned their attention to Gathering evidence and paperwork from the store to support their invest tigation the 26001 is is on the S all of them there was only the 15 the 2 22 I up this morning the 2600 is still not in the bank and that was from yeah that one yeah that one was the yellow should be with the ones that were here yesterday he only last the 15 the 22 and the 22 26 is the one that I fact over yeah SC the 264 is the one SC s it was in there 1700 to no they're there the one you had iclude that one do you have like a photo ID also it's outside myone okay um so were you going to email me this or yeah um how did you want me to no didn't just email the whole spreadsheet I'll just yeah you just put on email I'll put my email address once we get you searched I can allow you to yes you can come there yeah get the so um Miss Howe yes um need you a couple of to uh initial the statement here okay then on this line you're going to print your name because you want to prosecute on behalf of the business and then sign okay and this statement basically says that just wanten airm that your statement TR correct to the best of your knowledge the woman grows emotional during the officer's questioning but continues to cooperate fully with the investigation my D out and give for my daughter just give it to the girl work get to my [Music] daughter the black the girl that's working tall one whatever you want to give to her my license yeah okay um yeah best for her to get to my daughter okay cuz it's Jen out there call her yeah you can call her in here I want um I just want her to give to my daughter in case my daughter has to get money yeah we can give it to her it's for J not J thank you I I 1500 and the other 22 and 22 that's it it's not it's not those other ones it's just the last ones the 222s so yeah the well like this one and the 222s yes the 22 one two three yeah the other ones I Dr them up okay well the the amounts that the charges go is anything over 5,000 between 5 and 20,000 so whether it's 6,000 or 10,000 be like the same Pho single where they are haven't been second de miss me in a while first one is like three I say between 5 6,000 not 100% sure the officer complies and allows the suspect to call her daughter before being brought to the station yeah like if you do like 10 can I call my dog please because nobody knows anything he's going to be the one that's get me out hello hey Tori can you hear me are you okay no I'm what WR don't worry don't tell nobody but I gave Jen my deit cards at work so you can show call her on Facebook what they're taking me to jail so if you could bail me out why are they taking you to jail cuz of deposits but I mean I didn't go yet so I don't know how long it's going to be but what does she have to do hey what are you talking about work I'll tell you later but what do she have to do the police officer is right here you're in speaker phone umy Kyrie sorry my grand when they're ready to bond you out they will allow you to make a phone okay they said when you or someone will call her when you're ready to go and uh right I'll call you when I'm ready to go could be a couple hours I'll explain to you later this is embarrassing enough so to for my one C of Jen has the am's got one the $900 one you have to go to w Fargo and you can only take out three um $300 at a time you have to do three transactions for $300 the investigation uncovers that the woman a store manager had been stealing thousands of dollars she was responsible for depositing into a safe all right I don't know if I can take off today I'm going to get in trouble with work yeah don't tell nobody else I'm not if you needed help why didn't you ask me I to go Poli right here hello I know all right I'll call you um what you think a couple hours uh could be slightly more than that not that's up to I don't know what the process is can they have you in front of the store like they they won't put you in the office or anything they're waiting for the they to come and ask them to take me out the side door but I don't know you said he's not going to put me in handcuffs yeah but Jenna work toy your friends with Jen on Facebook right so you can call her Jen she how long is she going to be there for she works till 2:30 please don't tell alen or nobody else yet well tell myself Jesus if you needed help with something you should have told me I would have helped you you could have
