course is there somewhere we can talk to her if you want to talk privately you can just go in the back yeah you show us just like at the very back y sorry the officers begin their questioning by reading the suspect Her Miranda rights adhering to protocol her response to the first question however is something completely unexpected we're here um I was a of stealing money at a party that was it okay well uh got yeah all right I'm just going to read this out to you all right you have the right to remain silent anything you say can will be used against you in court you have the right to talk to a lawyer for advice before we ask you any questions to have a lawyer with you during questioning if you cannot afford a lawyer one will be appointed to you before questioning if you wish if you decide to answer questions now without a lawyer present you will still have the right to stop questioning at any time until you talk to a lawyer do you understand the right ready sure okay so tell us about I was just looking for a Tamp like I I all I was doing was trying for a tampon I thought I started my period And I had moved this girl's bag I only paid her back cuz I didn't want anything to happen I didn't want it to be put on me because I'm not that kind of person I'm s and the way she was talking to me like it felt like it was going to be who the Sheep was it your manager or no it was um a girl at the party that I guess she had messaged me and she said like I saw you the one doing that okay um what's this what's this young lady's name I I didn't get to know her um I have it on my phone I can show it to you okay um I think it started with an A but she said like either way I'm going to like put legal okay where was this part it was at um like new ways Event Center Lake Mary Lake Mary okay M well appreciate it but that's not necessarily why we're here today we're here because you're being accused of theft however the theft is not in regards to that part it's in regards to something that's happened here today okay so you have a manager um who advised us that or not manager you have one of your other co-workers who advised us that they left a certain amount of dollars very identifying marks on that and you with on person store according to the manager the woman had been stealing money from the register during her ships before contacting the police the manager marked several bills with the letter j and placed them in the cash cabinet the next day the money went missing watch where the officers find the marked bills she also has the receipts of the opening of when the drawer was op what exact time okay where we're at right now is uh I can't promise you but for me and I'm sure also for our same thing honestly is the best policy okay so could you tell us anything about that I did do it I'm having some issues with money right now um I just like bought off a new car so I haven't been working lately um I will end to that so was it just today or has it been in the past it was today and then I've done it in the past before but never like large amounts how much would you probably like to the b 300 maybe was the most beforehand it's in my bag okay can I go through that bag yes sir it's going to be in that PO if I'm wasting your time I don't want to waste it you guys have better things to do than this stuff that makes sense no that's stuff no matter where it's from man well your time is valuable it's sad all right do you mind do you mind uh coming over here for me just to identify that's not my person can I take a picture or do you care I already have all the pictures this is going on in the report can you identify these bills one second do you see any JS so far I have serial numbers of the other I got to get the Ser name well the JS I know are winers there's one J there's my Js there's another J here this is the only J but I'll get you the serial number no problem of course that's a j that's m' okay Kaitlyn I need the serial numbers as the investigation unfolds another officer stays by her side giving her guidance on what to do next she's a legend it's a little bit more like I said for me honesty is the best policy only I can do have you ever been arrested so with with with situations that have happened especially with things like death you know I can't promise you that but you don't have a record so that's there's no pattern there now that's the situation out of Lake Mary we don't that has nothing to do with us yeah we only here for for this to happen today and the stuff is happened over time okay so like I said you know it's not for us to sit up there and be like hey you know you did this to come in cam about like that no's wrong you have to be accountable for it right but it's not a situation where like I said it's not foreseeable that you could have a future after this okay so I'm going to go talk with her um and then I'll I'll be cuz I don't want you to go back in there and I'll be back and I have to tell you at this moment you're being placed in investigative detention I'm not going to put you in cups or nothing like that right now we we'll get to that later okay make she uh can she have a seat for a minute of course she have a seat have to go so you have you have your customers and stuff do I best to keep it quiet okay does does this belong to you the $5 that was given to me from her I ow her money for coffee the five singles that's gra want fresh charges yes I do because I added it up it's, it's been going on you're breaking my freaking heart I have a documentation in my car I wasn't prepared to turn it over cuz I was trying to rule it out but I'll show you what I Was preparing for my insurance company okay let's see it's it's well over what she has here I was hoping she would show it all what you took this morning and you didn't so no not make that's make it not content when questioned about the stolen money the woman reveals more cash hidden in her purse the manager estimates the total theft to be over $22,000 and explains that suspicions arose after the woman showed off a new Gucci purse and a car I I told him it was in that back pocket of my bag like which one the one with the zipper right here yeah is that the rest of it from today or yes sir she put the she put the J photograph is this all from this business yes sir okay I'm going to put your keys back in your Pur them yes that's fine thank you you think that much money's going to go missing and nobody's going to notice I mean it's it ain't 20 bucks I'm going go count my drawer I can tell you what I had off all right all righty what's your name y all right y do me f stand up right now you're going to be placed under rest of De okay do me a favor lift your hands up do anything I'm not going to show or anything I'll let them do that at the okay 13 1360 that's right 37 got1 105 that sound right ma' 1360 I did the officer asks the suspect what drove her to steal and you won't believe what the suspect says before this you took maybe like 300 yeah okay cuz I was making good money before and I was working so she cut your hours or something is there a reason why she did that to me I feel like it's cuz I wasn't doing anything right so I kind of sucked but okay so I'm I going to jail mhm because of the um when she first called us she made she gave us a number and you would have gotten a notice to appear because you would you could have got yeah that's how supervisor now you would have got sorry memory her tenure as a longtime employee didn't stop her from stealing as she blamed the theft on her low wages in the end the manager decides to press charges you can just look at all of it you can have it um and that 22,000 doesn't I didn't know I actually came in because I was planning on just interviewing her right she was not originally who I thought it was going to be I was very shocked I I got it down to just I rolled out everybody but her and another girl and I actually just thought was the other girl to be honest I'm not going to lie to you but now looking at all this evidence and time clocks when she was here it all lines up makes sense do you recollect any of those things okay how much do you think you've taken over the years it's just this year by the way it's just this year how I didn't keep track I mean you got to have a ballpark in excess of, how much was your purse how much was your car how much do you think I want to hear what you think that was the most I've ever at a time or she's missing $22,000 yes so if you don't think you took that much you got to have a ballpark of how much you do think I have documentation here to show I knowe and head north can pick this up send you a picture of it when she's done that we gives her time to all right Co the woman was charged with Grand Theft number four manager steals from the job and thinks playing innocent will get her out of arrest police responded to a gas station after the lead manager reported a $122,000 shortfall initially suspected to be a robbery an audit revealed that the missing funds coincided with shifts where a specific manager was responsible for deposits listen as the lead manager explained the situation meeting last week and she comes up and says hey I processed the deposit but I forgot to take it to the bank I called my supervisor and she says she can't find it so I said okay well let's dig into it let's look at the cameras well the cameras just happen to be down not of they're doing yeah just it just it was there was a the tech actually screwed it up just happened to be of course that yeah that that one day yep so I go she we're at this meeting together in Savannah I talked to her she's like no I did it but I didn't put it back in sa like I'm supposed to I just shoved it in this backpack that we use on top I well okay so I interview her other employees that were here that do over the phone like hey we didn't do it well we get a report from our office saying hey the previous day hasn't gotten the bank yet either okay so I come up here today with the DM and we start talking to her and she finally confesses hey I stole the deposit but I used it to pay back another deposit I lost 5 weeks ago her claim is she's been FL in deposit so she steals today to pay for yesterday's okay and she's been kind of doing this all along except she's gotten behind huh so of course she never told anybody she lost the initial deposit she never reported it cuz she was worried about her job this is what she's telling us unfort and so up to this point where she realizes she's B the thing about our camera system is it may have gone into safe mode which means it's still Rec boards but nobody can get into it we sent it back to the company to see it's doubtful but regardless I explained that to him and that's when she or to her that's when she said okay I did take deposit oh and by the way not did I take that one from the 15th I also took today's to cover to try to cover some of that one right but I haven't gotten both in there she brought back the original she went home and brought back the original deposit back the empty deposit back that she stole from the 15th as well as today's minus about according to the manager the employee admitted to losing the money weeks prior but never provided an explanation for how it happened she claimed she withheld the confession out of fear of losing her job okay we still think we're missing the other one but with the banks being closed we can't verify it and she swear she dropped it off okay so on the 15th of this month correct last Wednesday there was a deposit that was never never deposited and she admitted to that that she didn't take it when she was supposed to but doesn't stated she didn't know how it got lost she left it here no but nobody could find it okay and then deposit from today today was also missing okay so so she so say she took so what she's saying is she took like today's deposit to cover for the 15th correct deposit correct okay so I mean do you guys have the are you still waiting to see from the bank if you have the deposit for the 15 never went so that never went in either it's still not there okay and we know it's not there because she actually brought the paperwork back see I have an empty deposit bag that she filled out with the deposit slip and no money so it doesn't it doesn't even exist okay interesting but I know right now for sure I'm missing all of the 14th and part of today's okay so two so the 14th or yeah two yeah sorry the 15th it's processed on the 15th it's for business day the 14th I got you so they come in the next morning process the deposit so the deposit is for the 14th that's when it was dropped off but they process it on the next day and by the way this is all happening real fast normally I'd have this all written up for you and I can send you an email tonight that'll show you everything oh yeah no that would that would definitely that that would help but simply the manager stole thousands of dollars on a single day weeks ago and attempted to cover it up by using the next day's deposit the missing deposit has now accumulated to a total of over $112,000 um and then today's or yesterday's deposit you're waiting she was supposed to deliver today she took home so the 19th the 19th correct okay but she brought that back but it is shy about $1,400 at I've got the Act exact do okay so she brought back the deposit from yesterday uh yeah part of it part partial deposit minus $1,400 right with the paperwork and still in the deposit bag yesterday I I know what's going on this month but this is my third one just this month here or like I covered the whole East Coast oh okay but it's this is UN even at Christmas this is unusual to have three in a month yeah do you know how much the deposit was supposed to be for yesterday uh 30 I want to say it was 37 and change I have the exact numbers in there okay oh you know what actually took a picture so the exact amount of yesterdays was 3778 and then the one for the the one that uh now what's her name it's uh key e e last name is her date of birth is okay is she here today she's writing a statement for me okay so the woman allegedly claimed that on the day she lost the deposit she went to visit her husband in the hospital however the lead manager isn't entirely convinced by your story so she she's telling you guys that she missed a deposit on the 14th but she was of the bank her husband's sick she went to the hospital forgot about it somebody broke in their car and stole it AIT and then ever since then she's been using the next days to try to flip to cover so she's always going to be behind but she's trying to use the the day to cover the missing day okay um the flaw in her story is other people work here and do the deposit so like over the weekend we had while she was gone we had another employee doing the deposits well they don't know what she's doing so they're just doing the normal daily deposit yeah she would she would have been missing that day that she didn't do it herself yeah that's where the whole and I'm letting her go with this story I haven't hit her with that yet but I was about to once she finished her statement say okay wait a second now let's go back yeah I'll let you finish that I'll be right out here and I'll no problem we'll come get you sounds good thank [Music] you hello Miss [Music] Jones my name is Officer Hansen um I'm assuming you know why I'm here I would have made different Arrangements that's why I asked adhering to protocol the officer informs the suspect of her Miranda rights before starting the questioning read you something okay doesn't mean anything but I just have to ask you some questions okay so you have the right to remain silent anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law you have the right to a lawyer and have him present with you while you're being questioned if you can afford to hire a lawyer one will be appointed to represent you before any questioning if you wish you can decide at any time to execute these rights and not make any statements or answer any questions do you understand the rights as I've explained them yes I do okay having them in mind you want to talk to me so what happened with the deposits just tell me I will tell you exactly what happened give me yes give me you approximately 5 to 6 weeks ago my husband was taken to the hospital via ambulance having a stroke like e okay so I panicked when I left from here I left with the deposit in the bag like I always do with my intention of stopping at the bank putting in the night drop and going straight to the hospital okay instead I drove straight to the hospital cuz I was not focusing on anything okay I was there for seven or 8 hours it was almost midnight when I went to come home my little thing on my car on the inside of my car where I keep like my ID and my debit card and all that stuff was open I didn't think anything of it shut it went home slept for 3 and 1 half hourss and was back here at 4:00 the next day to open up like I do every day okay did everything like normal went to the bank and asked for the receipt from the night drop for the deposit they did not have one and that's when I started to panic my debit card was gone my credit card was gone the deposit was gone so someone was obviously in my car okay what hospital did you go to uh not Advent the one Okala I'm not from herea Regional yes speaking to the officer the woman sticks to her story stating she visited her sick husband in the hospital with a deposit money in her car only to find it missing when she returned I didn't park in the parking garage or in the parking lot because where I'm from everything you have to pay for it and I didn't have money to pay for it so I parked on the street gotcha walked about a block to get there didn't think I didn't think anything of it okay and then that's when I started to panic and I'm like I'm going to get fired for this missing I didn't take it you can look at my bank stuff it'll prove I didn't take it I am completely broke it has nothing to do with that I can pay all of my bills and put food on the table and that's it okay there's no I didn't I did not benefit from this in any way shape or form other than keeping my job all right what about yesterday's deposit what happened I wasn't here yesterday or today's Sunday today's deposit I handed everything I have to him okay did you make a report no I did not to about the money missing no I did not because I was afraid I was going to get fired right then and there on the spot and I am my family's Sole Provider okay so you did make a police support didn't tell your job that your car got broken into didn't even tell my husband I didn't tell anyone anything okay do you know approximately how much that deposit was for that day it was between 6 and $ 6,135 for some reason that is staying in my head and I can't I don't know off the top of my head and also my my daughter has gotten me a new phone since then and I can't go back to the exact day so that we could look it up and I was just using the deposit from the next day to pay for the previous day until I could physically pay the money back that was taken or missing or however you want to say it to be right with here I didn't want to lose my job as the Waterworks began so do the cracks in the suspect's store see how the lead manager finally confronts her during the questioning because it was me not paying attention to what I was doing on my way to the hospital that caused me to SK right this was it initially started 5 to six weeks ago yeah all right so you went to the hospital you're there for a while came out went home slept for like three hours and came back came back to work you asked the bank on that day do you remember what day that was you went to the hospital no I don't it's been it's been five or six weeks so I don't I honestly don't know cuz everything was just a complete days I was just straight to the hospital I I understand that like I'm not no I know I'm not faulting you for for wantan to take care of your husband no no one's I know it's not it's my NE for not calling him immediately when I noticed it was missing for calling the police yeah yeah course any of that yeah no I mean that's was can I ask a question I'm G to ask you a question I'm going to be real pointed about my question yeah you and I had have many conversations regarding this remember at leaves three we had three conversations right and all three times remember the question I asked you asked did you take it he said no it's okay I asked you did Andrea take it you said no and I asked you who could have taken it what did you say to me all three times I said I didn't know you said it probably was richer no sir you no sir I said he's sketchy and he doesn't answer questions well and he lies like a freaking Civ I'm going to back up absolutely if I asked you who you thought could have taken it you said could have been Richard no I said I don't know but I wouldn't put it pass him I did not say he took anything you had three opportunities to say it wasn't my people and you didn't take those opportunities no to adamant say it was not my people having heard enough of the woman's lies the lead manager finally interrupts to call her out I don't remember saying anything that he took anything say at all you said does he lie and I said yes cuz he does I asked you who you thought could have taken it you said definitely not Ambria she has too much to lose however richer is sketchy and I think the word was either grimy or slimy he I said sketchy and so you had those opportunities to set it straight I did and you I chose not to because I didn't want to get arrested in front of all of my peers like I am going to now but you pointed me towards one of your people not not knowingly no I did not yes he does lie like a SI absolutely but I would not I never absolutely came out and said Richard did anything cuz I didn't want to lose my job oh I I understand that I mean no one wanted to pay it back because it was my mistake husband in the hospital and a child at home and I'm their Sole Provider I understand but unfortunately is there any way we can do anything without me going to jail anyway of anything I don't care if I sign papers that I'll pay everything back I don't care I don't care I just I really can't go to jail I really can't I did not benefit from this money at all you can look at my bank statements right here on my phone you can look at everything I have not been using this money for anything other than to make the other deposit and it was my mistake that I didn't call and tell someone it's my mistake no I I just can't I can't go to jail I can't is said well unfortunately I oh my God I can't I don't have any way of proving any otherwise the money is missing I know that okay I really can't go to jail well unfortunately oh my God it's out of my control out of my hands as reality steps in the woman begins to cry explaining that she stayed silent about the missing money because she feared losing her job especially with a child to care for still she insists she didn't take the money claiming that someone else did my husband can't even speak in sentences by himself right now his brain is all up and I have a child I can't that's the only reason why I didn't say anything because I didn't want to lose my job because everyone depends on me I'm the only one there's nothing there's absolutely nothing I can do absolutely nothing I can do don't no not at this point so what I can do is I'm G to have to put you in handcuffs oh my God are you kidding me right now well you have to you're going in the back of my car I have to but what else can I make a couple of phone calls real quick just because of my husband being I need to tell my family where I am head out and take a right right yes ma'am want we can go on the other side that way yeah I'm absolutely Ely scared to death I understand listen I have never been arrested like this before I got into a fight when I was 17 and that was it no I I get it I I completely understand you really didn't think I understand that but unfortunately it I know the money's missing and you were the last one and had you made a report you could have avoided all of this most likely but right now you were the last one and just literally scared right now I understand that I don't and and like I said once I figure out what the the bond looks like I'll let you know I will listen I will give you every piece of information I have for you okay I'm not going to keep anything I'm not going to hide anything I'm I'm going to be upfront with you as much as I can to your daughter and explain to her what's going on okay you got it yeah I'll crank up the AC a little bit for you too okay yeah the was charged with Grand Theft and received 9 months of probation as well as an obligation to complete 25 hours of community service number three woman steals $88,000 worth of groceries coming up officers are dispatched to a Dollar General store after a manager reports theft by one of the cashiers hi you know what the manager called I am the manager okay you're the one who called yes the manager revealed that the cashier orchestrated the theft by allowing her female relative to exit the store with carts full of groceries amounting to thousands of dollars in stolen goods so is there a lost prevention person we need to talk to I have I can call her okay do you both have IDs I do with ins hello hey how you doing good how are you good what's going on um if you want to just hang out for a second you want to have a seat or do whatever I just try to figure out what's going on and go from there okay so you uh you got all the information from her yeah from her and her I'll talk to you so that was the law prevention manager basically I hadn't got the manager's statement but apparently she already wrote a statement to her so she all happened yesterday it's just one instance over the span of 4 hours yesterday the employee allowed her an the employees ant to basically load up an entire carts of whatever I mean over $1,000 for the stuff and she would scan like one or two things she would the employee would yeah the employee would scan was yeah the the employee would scan one or two things let the walk out she wants press charges the officers now deliberate on their next steps if we they don't know the aunt's name and the employee apparently wouldn't tell her so um but yeah so if that's the case but apparently you want me I'll go inside with the manager I need the surveillance video and if they can give us an idea of what all was taken we need to receive yeah let me go she should have all that go ahead and have all that ready and I'll go in there with her get all thatand her and talk to her okay but apparently she already everything on their written statement so that's fine all right I'll go man all right sh all right I'm going to read you something and ask you a few questions you have the right to remain silent anything you say Canon will be used against you in a court of law you have the right to talk to a lawyer have him or her present with you while you're being questioned cannot afford to hire a lawyer one will be appointed to represent you before any questioning if you wish wish to speak to me about this incident that's fine yeah cuz it's kind of a tricky situation that's the statement she wrote with her aunt so I mean her knowingly scanning and allowing her to steal that's a criminal offense in itself but well about 15 minutes ago the ladies who were the last ones to come through with stuff came back in and their carts are still sitting over there when they realized I wouldn't let her come out and ring them out okay um the only I have pictures of the transaction from the register because it wouldn't let me reprint them okay as the other officer questions the suspect outside the store another collects the evidence the manager compiled this is what she ran up that's what she gave away and I can show you on the big camera too and then she rang up a drink and that's the cart he pushed out and the only thing she rang up was the drink the drink yeah that's the actual receipt for the transaction and that's on the drum Drive can you oh that's this is all on the trunk Drive yeah so I can take this right yes cool um she told me to have it all so yeah that makes [Music] everything give a I'm just going to put my stuff and then this is and the employee is Amy ranking and that's when she signed it so and she put her employee number I didn't um I don't know if you need the original or the copy I was just told to make a copy of it so and then these are like when I went through and watched the video I didn't put all of this on there cuz it wouldn't have fit but what is all oh okay this is and this is the list of stuff I could see in the cards that got taken can you do did you make copies of no not yet you make copies of all that front and back if you would you will be placed under arrest for Grand retail fft yes um tell me what's going like you're being accused of unders scanning and allowing your aunt to walk out like I you know how many different felonies you can get from this it's organized retail theft basically is what it is whether it was your idea or not you went along with it did you get dropped off here or is your vehicle in my vehicle's here okay hey um I'm getting ready to go to jail can you have someone come get it because I let somebody walk out of here with stuff yesterday yeah I don't know with the woman remaining Cooperative in Comm the officer Grant answer a phone call and takes time to explain the arrest process in detail so I will let you know when I can get a bondon hearing or whatever now you'll have a bond tonight set by me he said I'll have a bond setting set tonight I'm not sure how much it was where's your keys at for your vehicle are you able to have someone come get it cuz obviously you're not going to be allowed back on this property he just going to call my aunt Shelly no okay my Aunt Judy okay do you have a phone number for Shelly I don't have anything for her she made it very secretive so I guess this is why well you going I'm going to get my up and put in my car is it inside okay we'll have that come out just finish your cigarette do I need to take my ID with me um not necessarily um I would take your cell phone with you so you can get phone numbers out of it um and then I'll just put my cigarettes and my keys and everything in myf or I have your information so you don't necessarily need your ID um it wouldn't hurt to take your wallet and phone with you but that's really your choice and I'll leave my ring do I need to take earrings and everything out or you will be made to at the jail yeah is it just your person side I believe so yes meanwhile the officer continues compiling the evidence including the receipts in the suspect's written confession so she took eight shopping carts Al together in the hour it was eight shopping CS for where did the where did the ,000 number come from that's it was probably over that amount because there were coats full of things that we couldn't even see what was in them um so she's estimating you didn't happen to get her on video writing the statement did you yeah she is on video writing the statement yeah I can add that to that yeah if it would do that that would just be a little icing on the cake so to speak and uh what I'll do is I'll just take the copied version of everything [Applause] are the the receipts you have are on here you said or what you um well I have the beginning like where she scanned one thing and then gave them their copy of the receipt and they walked out with two carts for stu okay cool that's on there um all the ones that I had time to put on there are on there so okay if you guys need anything else I can we can do it all from here we don't actually have to wait for them to send it to us which is kind of nice yeah this is a good starting point right here so how long has she been working here at this store only a couple months well not even a month actually she came from the other Anthony store so the way she did it I have a feeling that this is not the first time sure and she wouldn't give y her she wouldn't give yall her aunt's name I don't it look like her mom look like her mom according to the employee the relative involved in the theft is a rant though the manager believes the woman is her mother and they were driving a red van cuz you can kind of see it off to the side CU she walks out to it and were yall able to get yall have outside cameras no but you can see the van in the corner I was just wondering if you were able to get a tag if it was going to be a if I can get a tag number from the video but probably not from that angle you can only see the side of it that would probably help us identify at least identify the ant or mom or whoever it is you know there's that and then just what I need from you is going to be hey uh on this day yesterday um or this morning this morning when you saw the video or whatever just say hey on video I saw our employee her name um false ringing okay and then mention you know what you saw you you watched the video you saw the the lady putting whatever you saw the lady putting stuff in the basket a male getting it out the two black females like I said I don't need all the details of what was stolen cuz I have all that right here um I have a witness statement for him I'm actually going okay yeah that I'm actually going to give you just come outside with me so we'll get you squared away excuse me S I guys she's going to come out do a witness statement that form you got all that where's her person oh yeah will you grab my shoes please whose shoes it is mine my work shoes okay I have slides oh okay for get the keys for a car and lock everything up with sufficient evidence the officers helped the suspect gather personal items from her vehicle before heading to the station you said you have a family member that's going to come get your car where do you want us to leave your keys I'll just Mo the door unlock you sure probably not the greatest idea your feet aren't sweating now let me look in your purse make sure you got no weapons which car is yours the universal precaution I got to take I did I'm W do you have any money to bond yourself out of jail or anything no and you can leave it in here if you want to take your ID with you you can I'll bring your ID do that and your cell phone it'll be good to go I do have F am I going to have to leave those with you guys too I that's I have no idea get cell phone yeah take that let's go over here and have a seat in my car while we get finished doing everything and get this going you have anything else you want to bring I am Since You've Been So Cooperative you just put your hands in the front not make turn around put them m in the back and this is just eczema I don't have like no I have no idea out no I thought it was just birth marks that you had Cooperative make this as easy further investigations uncovered that the woman had stolen goods worth thousands of dollars in a similar scheme at her previous job should be good all right thank well if I wait to see how much it is that's fine you can wait um um like you said 750 or less it's misdemeanor I'm watching I guess so how how do they know I guess they followed around the store watch what well they got video cameras I mean all over the place all over the place so you know they they invest big money into that kind of thing and before they call us they do their due diligence Etc are they saying this only time do they suspect other uh right now this is all this is all they're saying and that's all she said this is the first and only time um so until we know otherwise yeah we're just treating this like a isolated ordeal so in the end the woman was charged with theft number two man cries for Grandma after being caught stealing officers were dispatched to a grocery store following allegations of an employee stealing directly from the cash register um so we have the colleague upstairs employee he's been stealing money from our registers for several different days yesterday he stole 200 we have everything on flash drive and right now they're interviewing him upstairs okay all right all right I'm assuming you guys are looking up she complain right headquarters to one6 6 the situation as described by the manager is simple the employee was caught stealing money from the cash register during several shifts unfortunately for the suspect surveillance cameras clearly caught him in the ACT he's in here yeah what's going on [ __ ] well you called us it's our job Tov now so on so we have them on video taking $300 worth of cash over the past two days two days $300 total each day total no total okay that we have that we burned right now I'm get my bagag yeah you could get somebody to get it for us that'd be great initially the suspect 37-year-old linday believed management would simply confront him about the stolen money imagine a shock when officers arrived now do we expect other dates or we just have two uh well see what he can burn and then uh can I get my phone yeah we're going to take your phone we're going to take all your stuff there cigarettes and in oh you take yeah and I'll throw everything in his back where do you live Jor New Jersey all I'm assuming he's fir well yeah I need the manager to suspend them but yeah yeah all steal man [Music] guys how's it going Sor I'm just so manager just want to talk to just inform you that you are suspended um anding further notice so just call the UN okay okay um why I'm going to jail you in headcuts man so yeah for how long you'll decide that the judge man know who who's the one that I didn't yo come on man like I have no control I pay you back man I swear to God I can pay you back man I have no control over that that's what the company wants who how did this how did this come about cuz we got reports on shortages okay uh so when we look back on the shortages we can see him taking money out of the tail and put in his pocket and leave the store gotcha so who's the one that found that uh Raphael es is he coming up uh I the managers informed the suspect of his suspension and the company's decision to press charges for the theft he's the guy please and what's other than being the store manager what's your involvement I'm just overseeing everything me law prevention I got you all right so they just told you and then you're basically going to implement his suspension and okay all I need is your name I don't so and you also um at w.com w w a k w a k f e RN f e rn.com okay and you are assant director oh sorry LP right okay and rapael is the one who burned everything he'll do the repor and stuff gotta you're Raphael I'm Rael you have your ID and you're the store manager I mean the general manager what are you no no I'm the security security okay so they brought it to your attention you look back at the cameras right gotcha so who brought it to your attention that there was a constant shortage all I need is the name of the bookkeeper if you have it as part of the investigation the officers record record statements from Witnesses and those involved portions of the audio in the following clip have been redacted to protect their privacy just you guys know for the purposes of this report I'm going to use shoppr right's address okay so nobody's address is uh exposed we'll send you guys a link for the uh the videos yeah we don't you have you actually have a the ACT already burned yeah okay but the thing is when you guys send the link it only allows you a certain amount you can send this is two flash RS is not going to fit in that's fine I'll take I I'll put to evidence no big deal so what's your phone number Rafael you have a email Rafael yes my first name mhm and then Dot and then it's my last name this one and then at wake friend oh I got it right here yeah now so you don't use this name which one well technically this it's like Asen hyphenated oh I got you okay all right yeah yeah yeah all right all right so wait you have oh you have it there all right so what are we waiting on now getting his belonging back got go downstairs come on I might put my gloves on how old are you bro how long you been working here months with the investigation complete the officers escort the handcuffed suspect through the store all just thirsty as hell [Music] the officer informs the suspect of his potential charges before proceeding with the booking [Music] process all right yeah put the hand on [Music] that got I wait to see we going to do your paperwork let me see we're going to do your paperwork uhhuh and uh you don't you don't have any warrants right no all right as long as you don't have a criminal history that puts your score up above a three no then uh you'll probably do something in some release we'll see pron secur to the bench deactivating linday stole over $800 he was charged with theft and released with a court summons number one Best Buy employee steals on the job to buy a PS5 officers were called to a local Best Buy after an employee was caught committing refund fraud stealing thousands of dollars watch the situation unfold [Applause] um we have our commager on a team call he was doing the interview stuff um and uh let me see yeah we have like a statement from him admitting it and everything okay and we want to request a trespass for okay so no criminal charges uh we are person J oh yeah it's What's the total it's about I can get the ex total but it's like no we have to do cost so it's like $13 to $1,400 I can give you the exact amount okay when was when was this done oh it's done in May 2nd and then there was another one too um this was prior to that he admitted to um but he believes that there's more does he know your press in charge I'm sorry does he know your PR in charge um let me see there more yeah we'll talk second yeah um [Applause] I'm texting him now I'm going to call him and get him on the phone okay CU there's different ways of pressing charges it's fing charges or actually make an [Music] arrest I able to meet the lead manager in person the officers call him to verify the store's plans to press charges terminate the employee and enforce a trespass order emplo at he's [Music] hello hey where you at come all the way to the back left if you're face the [Applause] yeah hey hey can you hear me okay uh I have the officer here he just wanted to know I guess he was saying there's different types of charges can I hand the phone to you to kind of discuss what you want to do okay this is Brian hi guys hi hey Mr Officer Robinson hey how you doing all right so I just want to verify that we were pressing charges for the Pim ,300 worth the merchandise that was taken yes yep that is correct along with trespassing yes okay so just be aware that he has to be notified that he's been terminated um in the process as well so um as long as you guys have that we can do the trespass so that way he doesn't mistakenly come back yeah yeah they'll suspend him today cuz he'll be U they have to open up an HR case before termination um so yeah she'll notify I just told hel at the GM that to make sure he gets suspended um before he leaves okay so yeah y all right sounds good all right I appreciate your help no problem the officers now proceed to question the employee who is currently being held in the store security room so apparently he's uh stolen approximately $1,300 $1,400 what the we know of merchandise over the last month said May 2nd was the May yeah May 2nd and then he told us about Christmas where he it was return exchange forong um he got airpods as well okay and you guys have like receip and all that stuff y I have video proof and I have he was being recorded by surveillance cameras according to his earlier statement he used the stolen funds to buy a PS5 and other [Applause] gadgets Che this tight a little bit how did the handcuffs feel cool I want them resting on your bones that supp be comfortable but not uncomfortable you have a seat for a second are we done with this oh oh we have our um investigator on all right uh I'll get arrested yeah okay waiting for the paperwork to be finalized the two officers with the suspect start a polite and Casual discussion with him long you been living in Florida for probably like two years like I moved down here August 20120 so it's like two years it's some change probably any family year um no not that I know I probably got like one cousin but he's probably in Miami so it's like distant who brought you to Florida school okay where you in school at uh full sale I actually graduated um May 2022 but yeah congratulations on the graduation thank however yeah I know what was your degree in or what is it in uh it was recording Arts okay yeah M but full sale has like a pretty good um even like a theater theater and yeah entertainment like Fine Arts Fine Art yeah it has all of that on there like game game design it's pretty cool I was going to go for game design but it was kind of complicated I was like I'm just do music yeah you know yeah I'll play the game but design that cool yeah sure absolutely with the suspect remaining cooperative and respectful the officers reciprocate by treating him courteously um do you have uh his license oh of course you're out Mississippi I already ran tell so what are you doing in Florida got Myas uh do you have did you drve here yeah where's your car front this can somebody come get his car or what you you have somebody come get your car you can't come to the property after today uh I can see I don't know have any friends can come get it I can try I mean they probably all at work though is there anybody here that you can get the key to that can that you trust um it's not I mean you can you can come back but you just have to have a law enforcement es s to get your car and I mean I don't know how long you you'll have a bond but I don't know how long you're going to be down there so I you can still call somebody you can call somebody from the jail and uh they can come get the keys from you and then come get the car too that's an option but if you have somebody here that you can you trust then I can I can see I have the life see who's like available what happened I'll just have to see who's like available just want to just leave it here in call law enforcement to get it when you get out or uh I can't check like right now like see who can come get you I can give you one phone call um despite the suspect's respectful behavior and willingness to confess the severity of his crime remains unchanged we'll just break the keys with you make sure it's lock get be Char so there's the dollar mounts Grand de okay MH so what is your current address looking at your picture up there I was like while you're doing that I didn't want to interrupt you oh picture have you before this is so I'm just going to question they all right so this statement right here you recognize it yeah all right did you write that yes all right what does it say um in brief you don't have to oh uh just confessing that I did a return five okay and just apologizing I'll pay like all the products later investigations uncovered that the employee had stolen thousands of dollars over multiple shifts spanning at least 5 months how long over what period of time was this did this happen like the the from the first transaction to the last trans you think so the first was in December 21 or no 2012 okay and the next one was two months ago and you know what did you know that you were doing it for financial gain you didn't so you didn't realize that you were taking money from the store oh yeah all right anything else you want to tell me about this uh how you detective I think he made your copy yeah I think that should be a copy and I'm trying to I have to see better printer yeah I got to have something that's can I put it um Sol on the the pen drive a picture of it uh we have to have a physical copy can you see if there's another printer scan customer service not another copy um yeah evidence is kind of after completing the investigation the the officers prepared to escort the suspect to the station for processing here yeah all right so anything that you get out of your car [Music] no do you want to take your watch and everything like off no like take it to the gy get it back I just some people don't feel comfortable with it I this is their device [Music] here yeah oh right in the end the suspect was charged with felony Grant Theft and sentenced to 12 months of probation along with 100 hours of community service that's a wrap on employees who thought stealing and acting innocent would save them think these people will try their luck again on their next job let me know your thoughts in the comments down below
