What happened? >> They trying to say I stole. I ain't steal. That's all that matters. I ain't steal nothing. >> You got your ID on you. >> Sit back. Go. You have to sit back. >> Neither suspect seems prepared for how quickly things have escalated. Their nerves are showing and it's only made more difficult by the fact that their toddler is present caught in the tension. >> Sit back. You have to sit back. >> Are you saying you did not steal anything? >> It's on camera. Check it out. >> Did you Did you walk out the door with anything? >> Check it out, man. >> I appreciate you. >> Hang tight with me. All right. Cool. Man, can you just like you can walk? We don't catch them all. >> All right. How tall are you? >> Uh 6'4. >> You and me are the same height, but I feel shorter next to you. really quick brief summary. Just tell me what's going on. Why are we here? >> The hat. Well, we tried to buy it, but he act like we couldn't buy. He said police officer. And I'm not even trying to say no racist stuff, but he looked like he was one of them. You know, we black. So, he wanted us to say I guess he wanted us to not pay him. Just talk to y'all. >> Okay. So, you guys had a hat and you said you were planning on paying it? >> Yeah. Cohort. The cohort hat. I don't know if you know what it is, but it's cohort. >> Cohort. Yeah. >> Put it back. He He got it. >> Okay. Did you guys have a cart or anything or were you just >> cash like push grocery cart? That's what I'm saying. >> Oh yeah. >> Okay. So you guys had a grocery cart, whatever. >> We was going I was going shop. >> They ain't got nothing. I see. But like that's it. That's all. >> According to her, they had every intention of paying and the only reason things escalated was because the staff were treating them unfairly. However, the store employee tells a different story and the security footage backs it up. >> Picked them up right as they were in men's start watching them. Look like they're concealing underneath the baby. Long story short, they did went to stop him. They stopped her. Stopped her with backup. Went in. He came back and started getting very hostile going. I'll just strip right here. I ain't got a word I'm not going to say. Stuff like that. >> Okay. >> So, once we got like right here, she's good. just pulls everything out cuz she's going to go and ditch it and I'm like, "No, you got to keep coming with me." She's like, "I got to go grab something else." I'm like, "No, no, no. Come on." Finally, one sweet guy right there. She just pulled everything out. Walked out the door. >> Okay. You guys didn't put any clothing. >> In your like sweatshirt, anything like that. You didn't put in the baby stroller, baby carriage. >> I gave it all back. I gave them back to them. >> Okay. How many items did you give back? >> All of it. It was just the hats. >> Just the hats. How many hats? It was like three little coconuts. >> Okay, let's do this cuz I'm cold, too. How about we just sit sit back here? I'll turn the heat on. All right. >> I don't want to get >> You're not going. I said I can open that door up. I won't even close the door on you. >> I don't want to get in. I gave him everything back. I know I'm not a >> Okay. I'm just saying we're here cuz you guys are being hostile. You know, they're trying to talk to you guys, trying to work things out >> where the most you guys probably would have got was just to get trespassed and called back. They're both. Yeah, they're both good. >> They're both good. >> So, we'll just wait for that. >> So, those two are together. >> Yes, these two. She's the one that committed the the she walked out with it. He was just like merchandise with her, but we picked them up and they were way back here. >> So, they like the jeans, the hoodie. >> There's some other things I can't remember off the top of my head. Jeans, hoodie that they put back there, the white shirt, black jeans, two hats. I think that I believe that's it. >> Okay. >> It was a total of 11876. >> Yep. >> What is she selecting there? >> Uh she was just concealing merchandise with the >> All right. Can you show me that again? >> Yep. >> The suspects argue that since the items were recovered, they shouldn't be in trouble. The shoplifting doesn't stop being a crime just because you didn't make it out the door. Especially when the store's HD cameras caught them concealing the merchandise in the first place. in there and then just conceal it like that. >> That's pretty. I gave them everything back. >> It doesn't matter. I mean, you guys still have the intent to do it. >> They can still press charges on you. I'm really hoping they don't. >> Okay. >> But they can still go through with that. >> When I gave it back. >> No. If you would to work with them, maybe walk to their back office. Wasn't I a give him no bad >> sign something saying like hey I can't come back anymore. >> It's just him cuz he don't don't put it on my name like >> I understand where he coming from. >> Yeah. So you guys being hostile. That's what we just he too serious. >> I just don't understand why he drove off and left you and the baby. Especially when you guys are out in this cold. >> No, he went to go get something to eat. We were supposed to be in our long. Do >> we have a good offense? If it's going to be end up being both the male aided in selecting the merchandise she concealed it and the baby carrier total loss is 118 bucks. LP says they were stopped at the door. >> Was the merchandise recovered? >> Yes. >> All of it was >> Yes. >> All merchandise was recovered. unclear charges or trespass or DC what we we think uh we're going to do they do want to proceed with it. I think we're for the male it's going to be more of a complicity. They we just noticed something with the male involved. So we're going to double check to make sure he did not conceal anything in his pants and stuff as well. All right. I've got loss prevention here. We're working on some F tables real quick and I'm going to get a copy of the receipt and I'll meet you guys out front. >> Okay, we're going to get him out and secure him. >> The surveillance footage gives officers all they need to move forward with the arrest. But with both suspects refusing to exit the vehicle, the officers are forced to think strategically about how to get them out without making the situation worse. >> All right, Mr. Horn, are you good if I pat you down? >> No. >> No, you're not. >> Pat me down for it. But to make sure that you didn't steal anything. >> I asked him did he want me to strip naked? He told me no. I was going to >> I'm asking you. >> Hello. >> So you asking me to search me because you feel like I stole something. >> I'm going to pat you down. >> I'm not going to search you. >> Hold this man. Let me put your band. >> Am I being >> No, sir. You are under arrest. >> For what? >> For theft. >> I stole. When did I steal? there. How did I steal? >> You guys don't have to walk out with that merchandise. >> Hold on. How did I steal? >> We're going to go over all that. >> Hold on. How the did I just steal when I ain't happy, >> bro? What? >> How did I >> You were also not free to go. Okay. All right. >> Don't drive off. All right. >> He's going to go in the back of the car. I'm going to pull up the screwdriver. >> You just said I stole. How the did I >> You are not going to jail as of right now. So, do not drive off. Do you understand, Miss Ramy? Do you understand? Okay. >> Can I get another driver? >> Just Just hang tight for me. All right. >> Walk over to my car over here. >> Y'all basically covering me up because I was hostile. Y'all didn't like that. That's what's going on. That's what's going on. Basically, just be honest. Y'all didn't like that. I was being hostile with the situation due to the fact I didn't steal. What am I stealing for? I have money on me. I asked him did he want me to buy this? He said no. He tried to make me go back there. I told him no. I ain't steal. Am I going back there for? and I walked out. So, how did I steal? Can you explain it now? >> I will. Can you go ahead? >> No, I'm gonna read you your rights first. I don't want to hear I want you to >> No, I want you No, I want Tell me what did I hear? >> Yeah, absolutely. >> What did I steal? >> I promise I'm going to go over all that with you. >> All right, but I have to read you your rights first before we have a conversation. >> You have pocket? You don't got anything on you? Money. Money. >> Once the cuffs are on, it's time for the Miranda warning. >> Bro, >> okay. Can you explain now? >> Right to remain silent, etc., etc. >> All right. So, they reviewed the cameras. Yeah. The both of you trying to conceal uh merchandise. $118 worth of merchandise. >> How did I kind of conceal? >> They stopped you. They retrieve the merchandise. >> They didn't retrieve nothing from me. Not my person. They don't. >> Well, I mean, there's an officer in there. He's reviewing body camera or camera footage. So, you told me you told us to go check the cameras and somebody's doing that. And that's what it shows. You're trying to conceal merchandise. >> It shows me dropping it in the car seat. That don't mean that we trying to steal anything. >> Okay. >> What the >> All right. So, that was the answer to your question. >> Then I asked He said no. So, can I go in here and buy it? >> No. Like I said, you're under arrest. >> All right. Oh, close the door. That's all it is, too. >> Can I get your seat belt? >> To avoid leaving the child unattended, the officers let the woman go with just a citation. But if she starts pushing back, they're ready to change that decision. >> From video evidence, everything like that. You guys are concealing merchandise. Correct. You told me about the multiple hats. How many hats? >> Like I said, just keep working with us so we can work with you a little bit better. >> Yeah. >> He's going to jail. >> So, as of right now for them, Okay. I said the camera footage, we're still going on it. >> Okay. Our policy is we usually take two like people who get charged with theft to jail. Okay. We're trying to work with you so you don't go tonight and give you a court date. But I would prefer to get your side of the story a little bit better now. Okay. That way we don't have to take him, take you, and your baby needs to get picked up by somebody else. >> We took a couple items, but put it back. He got it all. He don't He don't have nothing. >> Okay. You took a couple items. Were you planning on paying for them? >> Yes. He was going to pay for some. >> And where did you put those items at that you were planning on playing? >> He got them. I told you I gave it to him >> when you first picked them up. Where did you put them at? >> What you mean? >> Did you put them in a cart? Did you put them in the baby's uh baby carrier? >> Baby carrier. But we you know, I used it as the cart. You know, >> you got He got everything. >> You put underneath the baby. On top of the baby. >> On top. >> On top. Okay. Were there any other items? But your intent was to steal them. It did not work that way. You put them out and you guys did not walk out with any clothing. Correct. >> Okay. >> And you know you can still get charged with theft for attempting, right? >> Okay. I said they're going through camera footage. They see everything. >> I said it might have been better. You guys were a little bit nicer. You could have got trespass. >> I understand. >> Okay. >> I was nice. Okay. >> I wasn't there. >> I'm not a rude. >> Okay. >> So, like he said, hang tight. You're not free to leave yet. We're going to give you a court date and we're going to go from here. See what else is going on. All right. >> He's in the back seat now, but that doesn't stop him from trying to plead his case to the officer. >> You attempted to steal. You were concealing. I'm You want me to answer the question, brother? >> All right. So, you are concealing items in the baby stroller, right? That's what she is telling us, right? and you attempted to leave the store without paying for it. They stopped you, retrieved the merchandise. That is attempt of theft. I I think you should just get behind accepting that this is happening and then you could fight it in court. All right. Uh she's going to get a court date and you're going to go down to the justice center, [Laughter] Ramsey. All right. So, these are the lost prevention guys. You already met them, right? So, they're going to verbally trespass you, right? So, you can't come back to this meer ever again. >> Any meer. >> Any meer. All right. And then, um, they're going to take a picture just and post it up in their office so people know. All right. So, I just ask you to comply with them so we can continue on with our Right All right. >> All right. Thank you. >> All right. Mr. Horn, these are loss prevention guys. All right. You already met them. All right. They're going to give you a trespass. All right. From all Myers. All right. So, I was going to ask you to listen to them. I'm still going to the justice center. >> You're still going to the Justice Center. That doesn't change nothing. >> So, close the door. >> You don't want to talk to them? >> What is What am I talking about? I didn't steal >> I'm going to trespass you from the Green Township Meer. Okay. >> I didn't steal. >> That's okay. It has nothing to do with anything. I could >> trespass you because they don't want you here. All right. So, don't ever come back to Green Township Meer. Got it. You understand that? If you found here at Green Township, you'll be arrested. Right on. >> So, I stole. So, you found me. >> You're trespassing. >> Did you find me with something? Did I steal? >> I get your trust. I'm >> just asking you a question. Let you go. >> I need a picture of you from >> I'm asking you a question. Did I steal? Yes or no? >> I'm listening to the officer. >> I'm asking you a question this year. >> Just take a picture, >> man. You got me. >> Is there any information from our reports? >> All right. >> I appreciate you. >> As the officers prepare for transport, the man's emotions start to show. Maybe it's guilt or maybe just the weight of the cuffs. A can't even be stand up. >> She got trying to pay for the money. >> Careful, buddy. You get another charge. >> Get a charge for what? Yeah, you are. >> So, how am I getting another charge? >> I say you will if you keep it up. >> Keep acting like that. >> Acting like what? >> All right. >> Y'all detaining me for no reason. Yes, I will act like this. I'm innocent. You count everything in her. >> Both suspects are hit with theft charges. The man was booked and processed at the station while the woman walked away with a citation and a court date. Number four, shoplifter gets away once and comes back for more. This time they catch her. On January 21st, 2025, officers responded to a target after staff spotted a woman concealing items and recognized her from a previous shoplifting case. Watch her reaction when she sees the officers walking straight toward her. >> You scared me? >> It's all good. How you doing? >> I'm good. >> You got ID on you? >> No, sir. >> No. >> What' I do? >> What' I do? >> Um, so I believe we had a previous incident a couple weeks ago where you ran out of the store with where you attempted to items. >> So, I had trespassed you that day. >> No, you didn't. No, I don't. No, you didn't. >> I did trespass. >> No, I I wasn't I didn't talk to anybody or anything. I had trespassed that day and I told you you were trespassing. >> No, but you didn't tell me anything though that day. I promised you. >> I tried to tell you, but you ran out the door and then you left, so I couldn't even get a chance to speak to you. >> So, you're trespassing me now? I'm trying to get home to my five kids. I lost my phone. Is that okay? >> Yeah, it's okay. But you you got to wait one second. What's your name and day? >> You're freaking me out. Oh, my buggy's over there. I'm trying to find my phone. I lost it in the store. >> You have anything in the car? That's not for >> No, sir. No, no, no. You can check that. I got the receipt. It's in the guard. Yeah, I lost my phone in here somewhere. [Music] I I don't remember you doing saying I promise you I don't I really >> You remember me stopping me? >> No, I really don't. Like I don't remember. >> That's why I don't know if it was >> You do want to borrow her? >> Yeah, we're going to get her. >> How long do you want to borrow for? >> Two years. >> Two years. You know what that means? That's fine. >> Two years. >> Am I still able to find my phone though? My kids are trying to get in touch with me. >> Uh that's that's up to you. >> Can I look through my phone? I'm trying to get them to call from here. You can walk with me, please. It's my phone. I just got it. >> Can They're trying to call us. >> Hey, now we'll call it. We'll walk back. >> Please. That's all I want. >> You like to hang out in the office for a little bit, see what we can come out with. >> Um or I mean I would rather just stay in here, but y'all y'all do it. I mean, >> that's fine. >> Oh, no. Yeah. Yeah, my payroll, too. I got a jacket in here. >> The officers begin checking her bag and her cart. And that's when it hits her. There's no excuse. That's going to work this time. >> This I found in the parking lot. This this >> Oh, I did not I did not know this was in here. I swear to God I didn't because somebody else paid for my stuff. Can I please pay for it, please? Please. No, I didn't. I didn't. Somebody else paid for it. >> Can I please pay for it? I have the money. I have the money. >> I have the money. Please, please don't lock me up. I didn't know. >> Please don't lock me up, sir. >> Here is all that's in there. >> No worries, man. We'll get it. >> Please don't lock me up. I'm sorry. I didn't know it was in there. I swear I didn't know. Please don't. Please don't lock me up. >> Please don't lock me up. Please. I didn't know. Sorry. Here. Please don't lock me up here. That's all that's in there. I promise. I got my phone, my paperwork in here. That's it. Look, you can make up. There's my ticket from the other day crossing the road. I need that >> receipt from today. >> It's in the bags, guys. And these bags, look, there was two bags that were in there that I got from the hotel that I stay at. So, there's a couple makeup bags that were in there. I promise. And that that's my roommate's uh pill bottle in >> that was in the parking lot with that. >> I promise. >> I promise you can search me. Like I promise. >> I promise you can search me. Like I promise it's not mine. [Music] >> Oh, my phone's in my back pocket. >> What do you know? Good job. >> That wasn't mine. That's not mine. I promise it's not mine. >> That's in all of your bags. me. >> No, these guys I told you I found it outside. >> Little rock. >> Okay. >> It's not mine though, y'all. Please don't lock me up. >> Okay. >> Please don't lock me up. I'm begging you not to. Please. Please >> calm down. Calm down. You need to calm down for real. >> Huh? >> Just calm down. >> No, cuz I don't want to lose my cave. >> Reports show that her previous shoplifting case involved smaller items, but now that she got away with it once, she decided to go bigger. This time she loaded up a full cart. >> Please don't lock me out. >> Please don't lock me out. >> Please don't lock me up, guys. Please don't lock me up. >> It's not It's not the end of the world. >> It is because I'm going to lose my kids. >> You can't be doing this around your kids anyway. >> So, you're going to take me to jail? >> Looking like it. >> Please don't take me to jail. Please don't take me to jail. Please don't take me Listen, >> that's got to stop. >> Please don't take me to jail. Please don't take me to jail. >> I mean, >> that's my roommate. >> That's about you worried about whatever that is. >> Please don't take me to jail. Please don't take me to jail. >> I I think you said that more than once. >> My kids, >> we're going to try to decide what we're doing from here. So, we need to see what all we got here. Okay. >> I did. We're getting a dollar amount for you guys, right? >> All right. >> So, this isn't your straw either. >> No, I'm saying no. You got those bags. I'm just trying to I don't want to go to jail. >> Listen, this is a big thing. Like, we we I do this for 12 hours a day. >> I understand that. Okay. It's a strong >> I don't like being lied to. >> I'm not trying to lie to you. >> Why do you have so much stuff in your purse, not in like a bottle or something? Cuz honestly, like from where I found from where I was at between the I just find stuff out there in a parking lot. I just throw it in there. >> No, seriously. Like I really do. Like >> So no, what I'm saying? You got ibuprofen in here. Do you take ibuprofen? >> Yes, sir. I take >> So why would you take ibuprofen that's in a bag with all the stuff that you pick up in a parking lot and throw in a bag? >> Yep. >> Why would you have ibuprofen in here that you take >> and then throw all the bunch of stuff that you pick up in a parking lot? I don't know because I I mean I've done when I was homeless I would dump for diet and stuff. >> And the officer doesn't hesitate to shut down her excuse making it clear just how ridiculous her story sounds. >> But that makes no sense. You wouldn't want to take pills that have been in a p a purse with a bunch of nasty things that were found in a parking lot. >> Right. I'm sorry. >> I'm just saying that that doesn't make sense. Right. >> No. >> So you're taking me to jail? >> Yeah, we're taking you to jail. >> Can I please smoke a cigarette? Please. Please. You're going to have to ask that man. Very, very nice. Cigarette, please. Sir, >> I'm being rude. I don't smoke, so please. I'm begging you. Please. Like, >> I feel like I'm like, I'm seriously going to have a nervous break. Hands behind your back. >> Can I please smoke a cigarette, please? >> You got another straw, won't you? >> No, that one's not. There's nothing in that one. That's really just one of my kids drinking straws. And there's nothing on those foils at all. You can chug them here with my hat. Here, check them. There's nothing in them. This is where I had boot in it. Can I please smoke a cigarette, sir, please? >> Okay, so >> there's just just had food for my kids. Can I please please >> go ahead and empty your pockets. Take everything out your pocket. I don't have anything in my pocket. Take her money, my gloves. Please, please, >> please. Here. No, please. Please. I'm begging you. Please. My phone. I didn't know it was stuck down in here, bro. I had no idea down in my pants. Please have a cigarette, please. Baby, please. >> Even in handcuffs, she keeps asking for a smoke. The officers, however, have no intention of granting that request. >> Please, >> sir. Please. You got to stop. >> Oh, be quiet. I promise. Please. >> Can I please everybody put me in? Please, sir. >> Turn around for >> Please >> put your hands on. Please, sir. Please. Please. Will you please let me put your finger? Please. >> No. Put handcuffs on. >> I'm asking you please. >> I know. >> Please. Please. Please sir, please sir, please beg. Please, >> please. Here's what happened when they arrived on scene. >> Those little about the house then the money tip. >> He fought you. >> You have access to these >> No, I'm saying do you have access anybody? Do you have a manager that we can get >> he [Applause] said? So he never like had a qualification. >> He threatened you too, right? >> What he say to you to threaten you? >> He was like, "You can't beat me. Let me get my stuff." >> 133. >> He went that way and I think he took a right. >> Took a right down. >> Pretty good. Lime green, right? 28. I'm sorry. >> You say you had a wiggle. >> No. Somebody's at 133 Madison right now. Madison Street. >> Just minutes later, officers tracked the suspect to a nearby nail salon, and they didn't hesitate to make contact. >> Hello. >> Hi. >> I'll be out once. >> Nothing. >> What's going on? >> Oh, I just came to her. >> Okay. step outside and speak to me. >> Yeah. Hello. >> What happened at the ice cream shop? >> 106 over to the sergeant. >> Oh, >> I was at the ice cream shop and I'm like, uh, I was standing asking for candy. He said he let me get candy. >> He let me get candy and I'm not arrested, right? >> Not yet. I'm trying to find out if that's going to happen. >> For what? >> We're waiting for more information from the ice cream shop. >> Oh, he Oh, this happened. Um uh I I was at the ice cream shop and I was standing there. He said I get some candy. So I reached for a dollar, you know, like a dollar the dollar in the thing. So I'm like, "Oh, it's money." So I reached for the dollar and he he automatically took it back. So I didn't I didn't go back and forth with him. I didn't run away with it. I didn't snatch it. Oh, so so the place that you use the vest on your ice cream bottle >> at the salon? No. >> The suspect denies having anything to do with the theft, but officers already know what happened back at the ice cream shop. The suspect tried to steal food, grabbed for the tip jar, and even reached for the cash register. On top of that, they became aggressive toward the employee who stepped in to stop them. >> I had to slide down. Do not swing. >> I know. That's what I just said. Oh, because actually I'm trying to get to my I'm trying to get to the uh um You're not going to rush me, right? >> Yeah, we trying to figure this one out right now. >> Oh, I'm trying to get to the like the train station. >> That's what I'm trying to get to. >> Why is more cops coming here? for the uh trying to beat him up. >> All right, here you are. I received for >> officers confirmed the suspect's identity as 30-year-old Tiffany Flowers from New York. >> Not in there, Dylan. >> My name is Beyonce. Am I going to jail? >> Uh, you're going to be brought up to police headquarters. >> So, that means everything like that. >> Yeah. And I'm going be not my fault. >> I'm going to be kept overnight. >> Huh? >> I'm going to be kept overnight. >> Uh I don't know. We're going to find that out. >> Oh no. Either way, you're going to get arrest. You're you're under arrest. What do you need to go to the hospital for? >> I'm not going to jail. >> I'm not sure. The sooner we get up to headquarters and figure it out, we'll know. >> Maybe getting released right away. We'll figure it out. >> So when we get up to headquarters, I'm not lying here. >> So why am I getting a fingerprint done? >> Based on the the threat that you made at the ice shop. >> So that's a lie. I don't have to get a fingerprint done for the for for a threat. You already was called for that. >> The suspect insists she didn't do anything wrong. But at this stage, the conversation is over. Any explanations can wait until they get to the station. >> I'm not entirely sure what you mean, but we'll figure it all out at headquarters. If you want medical attention, we'll get it for you at headquarters. Okay. This is where Yo, do you want >> I knew he was going to say something funny. >> Step out for me, please. >> Let's go up. Step out, >> Mr. Flowers. Miss Flowers. What's >> up? >> Don't touch me. >> I'm going to touch you. >> I better get released right in a second. This way. This way. >> Right. Right here. Face this way. >> Right here. >> Read that sign. >> No weapons. I don't have a weapon. >> No, just just look at the sign. >> No weapons. I don't have a weapon. >> Okay. Just I'm saying to you just look at the sign. That's it. There's face to side. That's what I'm talking. >> By the time the encounter ended, the suspect had been charged with robbery. Number two, shoplifting duo tries the most unbelievable excuse officers have heard. In this next case, officers were called to a local Walmart after loss prevention caught two women shoplifting. Here's what unfolded when police arrived. Do you have do you have any receipts or anything or now? Do you have any receipts? >> Pull them up. My receipt messages because I've been working for these two for the longest. >> Go ahead. >> Oh, okay. We'll just go search and you guys do your >> I got the receipts. Your name in here, too. You already know. >> All right. Well, at this point, >> well, I don't know what >> At this point, you guys are going to be detained for suspicion on >> retail. Yep. >> Okay. We never walked out the door, so we know the rules. >> Well, you passed the last point of purchase. >> It wasn't the last point. We was at the first floor. We know the rules. >> Okay. Well, I'm not going to argue with you right now. I'm just going to read you guys' rights. >> I'm not going to argue. >> No, we're not arguing with you. >> You have the right to stop this interview at any time. Do you understand? >> No. But can I say something? >> Yes. >> All the text messages, they let me come in here and take anything out of here. I don't think so. >> Yeah. Huh? Look, I got the proof, baby. Look, >> do you understand what I >> No, I understand what you're saying, but I'm just letting you know I was able to come in here freely. >> So, just walk out of here, too. >> I've been coming for years. >> Yes, sir. You can scroll down, baby. >> This No, I have nothing on me. >> But push the messages. That's all told me to come here to get. >> So, if we look at the cameras, we're not going to see you guys stuffing your jackets with any merchandise. >> Oh, I have no jackets. >> That's not even our jacket. >> That's not our jacket. I don't know who jacket that is. Go through all of them. And when they say item, >> yes, I am. >> You are. >> Her name is have nothing. I've been working with >> And he just called me three times. >> You hear me? >> And it's big because Oh, yeah. >> Okay. the item. >> And when it say boss lady, >> rather than cooperate, the two women become combative, pushing back with loud complaints and excuses the officers have heard a hundred times before. >> It's the last lady. Of course. >> Yeah, she's boss lady. That's >> right. >> And then if you go to my can tell you I've been working for them for 2 years. What do >> you mean? No, I'm not giving you my key. >> Don't you don't have to grab me like that. >> You don't really have a choice. >> You don't have to grab me like that. I'm being aggressive for no reason. >> You really >> I'm not fighting on the phone. I'm not fighting or hiding anything. So, you don't have to do all that. >> Okay. Well, we're going to look at the footage and we'll determine from there. >> I'm not being aggressive. I'm not fighting. I'm not >> shut off. I know. >> You can read the messages. >> You don't have to me like that. >> Yep. I'm sure it is. But that's okay. >> You see what I'm talking about? You see all these [Music] up? >> And when they had the stuff in the truck, that was done in the apparel section in the apparel. >> And they never even scanned any of this. >> They they still had more stuff. And >> they never scan any of it. >> So yeah. >> What did they pay for? >> What's that? >> What did they pay for? >> You didn't pay for none of it. From what I know, they walked out the door. Is this all of it? >> No. Well, >> the cards. >> The carts. The two carts. >> Walk out the door. >> They went through the vestibial. >> Can I look at yours? >> They went to the self scanner. >> Oh, good. >> They just went to the scanner. >> Did they go through the self checks? Because I didn't go I didn't go. I wasn't here. >> It too. So, I don't know why. Do you have a receipt for the >> That's not That's not work here. >> I will take whatever you have there. So >> you can't take nothing on my phone, baby. I'll pay that phone bill. I'm an officer. >> Oh, no. No, that's fine. You can scroll through all you want. It's fine. >> It says where the money I got. >> Oh, okay. I got it. >> So, it looks like they were in Davenport, too. Trying to speak with both suspects at the same time does little to help the situation. With that, the officers decide to question them separately. >> And they got a hit there in Davenport for that. >> Dad will have nothing to do with >> almost $800. >> My name is Kha. >> Kea. >> Okay. So, this is what's going to happen. We're going to separate them cuz they're when we talk to them. We're going to ask one to come out here and go from there. >> What are you guys doing here? um them like I was trying to explain why she was talking. I have nothing to lie about. They already know what's going on and everything. The crazy thing about it is they called us. We wouldn't have never been in here. Her name is But her name in my phone is boss lady. If you scroll through my phone, all that cat food, and sorry, I'm not racist, but they call it people food. So, it's like salami beef. That's all her food. I don't know why she playing dumb. >> The little the lady that just took the parts. >> Yeah, >> I know her, too. She's in my phone as well. Identify me as a cousin. Remember I said that's my cousin. >> He's He's His name is Big C. You just went to the phone. He just called me three times. I have no reason to lie. >> I wouldn't have never been in here. And S called me to come in here. I They've been calling us and telling us to do this for the longest. So like I told them, if I'm going down, y'all going down, too. Cuz I would never been able to come in here without permission. >> She right there. She moves people around for us. >> No. I'm not aggressive. I'm not aggressive at all, sir. >> I'm not saying I'm not saying you are. >> So, you're saying that you got a call from who? >> Told us to come here to get the stuff that we got and that whole stuff that we got. Yes, sir. And I had no reason to lie or I would have never been >> pay for these things. >> Who is her partner? Her too. I got stuff. >> So, they told you to come in, grab these items. >> Yeah. and >> not to not even notify anyone >> and no one >> and just to walk out. >> Is that what you're saying? >> Yeah, she moves people around for us. >> Okay. What does that mean? >> Move them around. She's the boss. She can move them around and tell them to go and break so we can walk out the door. >> According to the suspects, this wasn't shoplifting, but a setup. They claimed the loss prevention staff were in on it, giving them access and tips to avoid detection. >> I have no reason to lie. All right. You seeing it in my phone? I gave you my phone. >> I hear you. >> All right. >> Thank you. >> Yes, sir. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> So, what are you guys doing here? >> Um, we got a call and said that she said that we were able to come in here. He needed a few things. Well, they needed a few things. Then we could also come in here and get some things for ourselves. >> Okay. Come in here. >> You supposed to pay for that? I mean, they just was going to wave the door so we can go through and do what we need to do. >> Okay. Just leave. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Without paying for stuff. >> I mean, some stuff we pay for, some stuff they just let us go through there. >> Okay. Does this happen often? >> Yeah. >> You see the messages? >> How How often are >> you went through the phone, right? >> Yep. I saw them. >> Okay. >> About Okay. When the last time this happened last >> We got the phone today. You just got a phone call. No, I'm saying it's before this time. When was the last time it happened? >> December. >> December. >> Okay. So, would you say it's like once a month or a couple times? >> I don't know. >> Is it always just you two? >> Sounds good. >> With both suspects pointing fingers at a specific employee, officers follow up by contacting the Walmart staff member they've accused of helping them steal. Um, so I got Sisha cousin and her friend Emerald here. Uh, >> I saw that you called her where she's from. Okay. What were you telling them? >> Well, actually I was like, "Hey, where's she in the bathroom?" I was like, "Okay." She was like, "You have to call her back." I was like, "Okay." We call back for shooting us. >> Okay. >> All right. Cuz they're saying that you uh told them to come in here to gather some stuff and not pay for it. Walk out. >> No, that's a lie. >> I The last time I sit was January 17 to invite her over for my friend's birthday. >> Okay. And then you're sending pictures that she was sending you or you were sending her food or items? >> Yes. It's like we're going we're going close. >> Okay. >> You know what I'm saying? Like I said, I I haven't talked to her. I'm like hanging out. >> Okay. So, >> no worries. I just I just wanted telling us that you and Deborah are the ones who told her to come in here and not take one. >> I put that on my phone. >> No, no. I I saw that you haven't checked I I saw you haven't texted him since day or 17. >> Oh, that's fine. >> All right. >> You put behind my back. >> Yep. >> At this point, you're going to be under arrest. >> Okay, that's fine. >> No, we know we walking. >> The investigation didn't support their claims and both suspects were charged with felony level theft and banned from the premises. Number one, shoplifting duo tries to pay for the stolen items. Officers remind them it's too late. This last case brings us to a Walmart where officers were called in during an active shoplifting attempt. Here's what they walked into. >> Hey, what's up, sir? How are you? How you guys doing today? You doing all right? Take your hand out your pocket for me, bud. You got any weapons on you or anything, guys? >> You do me a favor, sir. You can stand up and come over here. Just going to make sure you don't have any weapons on you. Okay. >> Put your hands on the wall for me. >> Keep your hands on the wall. >> Inside the bag. Ma'am, >> can you stand up here for me? hurt you and >> put your hands on the wall. >> Okay. >> All right. There's two officers present here. We both have our body cameras on. Okay. I'm not going to touch you in any appropriate way. I'm going to use the back of my hand to brush your waistline. Okay. >> I know there's nothing. >> Okay. Have a seat. >> What's going on today? >> Um, somebody >> Well, hold on. >> Are we Can I talk to you outside for a second? >> Yeah, that's fine. That's fine. >> I just want to confirm um that they're taking if you guys aren't on person charges. >> So um I'm about to go get usually amount is 100 or not. We prosecute. But all I'm verifying is from my recollection they're repeat offenders where they stole from another target. >> Okay. >> Before coming. >> So I'm about to confirm with him now. Um and if that's the case, we prosecute. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Yeah. But I think the dollar amount if they each the dollar amount that each took is 100, we'll prosecute regardless. So >> Okay. So, we're going to find out, right? >> When we talk about it, just say like if they confirm at the other store, just be like, "Hey, I already confirmed that at the other store." That way, I know I pressed charges. Or if it's a dollar amount over 100, just say what the amount is. If it's over 100, then I'll know that. That way, we're not. >> I got ahead. >> The officer doesn't waste time. Both suspects are read their rights before the questioning begins. >> All right. So, I'm going to advise both of you Miranda rights, okay? Because I'm Before I ask you any questions, if I was taking you to jail, you'd be in handcuffs, okay? before I ask you any questions because you have the right certain rights and these are self-inccriminating questions. I want you to understand what those rights are. Okay. You both have the right to remain silent. Do you understand that? Yes, >> sir. >> Yes. >> Yes. >> Okay. So, what am I doing here today? What's going on? >> So, basically, um, somebody was going to pay some money to get >> to get some cameras. Okay. >> How many cameras were you supposed to take and what kind? >> What kind of cameras were there? >> Okay. Who is this? somebody like somebody you know a friend. >> We just met her maybe like 3 weeks ago. >> Okay. And she was looking for like those specific cameras. You guys live around here? >> Um I don't live around here. I live in >> Okay. What are you doing all the way over here? >> Well, we work over here. So, we just we got off on break and >> we were going to go get lunch and stuff, but >> we don't. >> Okay. >> So, what are you guys doing? >> You guys are both young, right? Your jobs? >> Jobs? as well. >> What do you do for work? >> Um, right now we're doing um >> wireless with the phones. >> Government phones. >> Is it going okay or? >> Yeah, it's okay. >> What about you? Same thing? >> Yeah, >> you guys together dating? >> Yeah. >> Okay. How long you guys been dating each other? >> Okay. This the first time you done anything like this or have you done something like this before? >> Okay. Um, >> how old are you? >> I'm 21. >> And you are Okay. Yeah. >> You guys have IDs in your bags or on your purse? I know you have your wallet on you. You can grab that for me. >> I don't have my ID on me. >> Okay. >> Um but I can give you my name, my um >> That's fine. My mom need that. Okay. >> Like that. >> You guys drive here? >> Yes, sir. >> Whose car is it? Yours? >> Mine. >> Registered to you? >> Yes. Well, it's registered to my dad. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> They claim someone offered them cash to steal cameras. And that's all the officer needs to start digging into whether this has happened before. >> Um, where did you where did you guys say you were from originally? You're from Claremont? >> So, you guys are dating, but you don't live together? >> No. >> No. >> Okay. And have you ever been involved in uh shoplifting at all before? >> No, never. >> No. >> Never in a different store. Just not caught? >> No. Never. Never. about. >> Um, uh, my ex, he got like he he was doing something like in a Walmart a couple years ago and like >> we both got in trouble. We trespassed from the Walmart. >> Okay. >> But the charges got dropped, I believe. >> Okay. Can you do me a favor? Can you stand up and walk over here for me? >> Walk over here. Stand up for me, sir. >> Turn around and place your hands behind your back. Yes, sir. >> You're going to be placed under arrest. Don't fight or try to run cuz you're going to get hurt. Okay. What am I being arrested for? >> For the shoplift in here. Okay. >> Well, we didn't even walk away with this. We just returned it. >> Yeah, but if you try to conceal it. >> No, no, we didn't. But we didn't. >> We're past the point of arguing about it. Okay. >> I don't want you to catch additional charges. >> I don't either, sir. >> Let me get these double lock. Okay. Yeah, we'll we'll get >> Is there anything that we can do? >> Can we paid or something? If we maybe get our family to pay for whatever we have to pay for, please. The problem is like I have a daughter, man. Sir, >> I understand. Okay. And I don't want you to think that this is you're intentional or has anything to do with you personally. >> The problem is is that I don't think that this is the first thing that you guys have been involved in. >> It's becoming clear to the officer that this likely isn't a one-time thing. And a look into their criminal history only confirms that suspicion. Their situation just went from bad to worse. >> All right. There there's some evidence out there that shows that you guys have been involved in multiple ones. >> Well, there's only we we took one more thing from the store. >> Mhm. >> And that was it. >> What was it? a PSP. >> Okay. >> And somebody, the same girl told us to come get it. >> When was that? >> That was like maybe a week ago. She literally paid us in cash for it. >> Okay. >> I can lead you to the >> But that's that's the problem, right? Is that you're it's it's an often occurrence. So Target, from their perspective, their policy is why are we going to let these people that are stealing from us keep stealing from us and then leaving? >> You know what I mean? >> Pay for whatever for the We can pay for it. >> You can you can litigate it in court. You guys will have bonds. You're looking at misdemeanor charges right now. We're going to have a bond though because I have a We're out on bond already. >> You guys are both out on bond? >> Yes. >> I thought I asked you if you've been arrested and you said no. >> Not for this. >> Not for shoplift. They won't do it for shop. >> You guys are both out on bond. >> You >> um Yeah. >> Do you have any that I know about in your bra area or underwear? Cuz they will find it at the jail. I'm not going to search you. But >> no, I don't have anything. >> Why would you guys be doing this out on bond? >> You guys know even a seconddegree misdemeanor will revoke your bond on your first charges. And you're not dumb. So why would you be doing this? Is there anything that we can do >> if we can pay for what this thing? >> Unfortunately, not. Okay. You guys are both under arrest right now. All right. I'm going to try to see as far as charges to make sure you don't get charged with anything additional you're not supposed to. And uh I'll I'll let you make any phone calls you need to make. But yeah, you guys are under arrest. Okay. >> Does that mean that >> we're not going to get out? >> This stuff you can't take. What is this? >> This candy. >> What kind of candy is it? >> Baby bottle pop. Okay, man. So, anyways, like I was saying, because of the situation that you're in, you know, you guys are going to go to jail for these charges, okay? Um, like I said, I'll help you try to arrange everything you can. I don't want you to think it's personal, and I don't want to argue with it cuz I don't want to give you some sense of false hope that you're being let go today. You will have a bond. Doesn't look like you're Oh, never mind. You're still out on bond. >> And then, yeah, you guys, so you guys most likely will not have bonds for your first one until you go to first appearance. Then they'll set a bond based on the the previous bond. The amount they took might only count as a misdemeanor, but because they're both out on bond, the stakes just got a lot higher. And now realizing what's at risk, they're scrambling to change their story. They'll look at the severity of the charges. You're looking at >> misdemeanor charges. What were the what was the amount? >> Uh, individually, they're here. They're all misdemeanor. >> Total combined was $599.97. >> Yeah. So, he's still a misdemeanor, luckily for you. >> All right. All right. So, the judge might take that into consideration when you go to first appearance about your first bond, but >> Oh, I'm so sorry, man. >> But but that's where we're at right now. You know what I mean? >> Temple, man. 10:15 whiskey mic in a hotel [ __ ] >> Sorry. >> There's nothing that we can do with you can't pay for everything. Like with Target like we'll figure >> in a hotel or correction hotel. I >> understand that Target wants to happen. They hold it as evidence for a while. They don't let nobody purchase it. Is there any way we can like go to court like maybe like do a court appearance or something for it like without going to jail? >> They may have done that for you today if y'all didn't have y'all weren't on bond. >> Yeah, that's different. >> Yeah, >> we could have gave you like a notice to appear or something like that, but because you're out on bond. It's We have this >> I mean my bond is out for two years. I've been on >> almost two years. >> It still doesn't matter. Yeah, just the bond status. literally just his ID. Let me find it for you. I'm sorry. >> I don't even know. >> You're asking like what the process would be. >> Like how long would I have to do? >> Well, depending on when we get in. There's two first appearances during the day. One at 8 a.m. and one at 2 p.m. So, depending when you get to jail, you might make the 2 p.m. Probably not, if I'm being honest with you. Uh, you'll see the jail first thing tomorrow or see the judge first thing tomorrow morning. We're not going to have preset bond. >> You will have preset bonds for our charges, but they'll revoke your bond based on the previous charges. >> No matter what. >> No matter what. It's like instinct that if you're out on bond, right? There's bond stipulations like don't occur any new or uh law violations. That's one >> new law violation. So, the judge will have to >> reset your bonds based on if he sees fit to give you a bond u based on the violation. Yeah. Taking a picture face target real quick. >> Now the officer waits to hear whether the store wants to press charges. >> How's it work with your car? Is it going to get towed or can they keep it here? >> Yeah. You can leave your car. Yeah. So if we we dissect detect there's nothing in here, we'll go to your vehicle before we leave. We'll lock your stuff inside of your vehicle besides your wallet, stuff like that. >> I don't have my wallet. >> Yeah. But large bags like this, this is the jail kind of frowns upon you guys taking that into the jail. Okay. So, we'll swing by your car and drop it in there and lock it up. >> Now, before I search your bags, is there anything inside the bag that I need to know about? This is the part where I have discretion to charge you or not to charge you. Okay. >> Only thing I might have in my bag is aluminum foil. >> Okay. Just aluminum foil. [Music] >> All right. Cool. >> Can I grab my phone? That's my phone. >> That's your phone right here? Yep. I will grab that for you. >> Those are my keys right there. >> Yeah. We're going to get the keys here. The officer is going to transport him. Okay. Okay. And then we'll make sure that your property goes in your car. Okay. So, the keys will be >> taking all the property. >> Well, we're going to search it outside because possible 95. >> Um, >> as far as the property, who are we leaving this with so they can get back in the car? Like the large bag and stuff. We'll take the purse and the phone, >> the other recruit. >> Okay. So, we'll leave this with them. >> Yes. Yeah. >> I have your and your keys are going to come up to the jail later. Okay. >> Go ahead. Lead the way. I'm sorry. I don't know where I'm going. All right, you're going to get inside the car. Okay, >> for sure. Nothing in your bra area, underwear area. We're not going to recover it, but just let me know now. That way I can tell the jail staff to get it. >> No, I don't have it. >> Okay, have a seat for me. Okay. >> What's that? >> Um for my bag and my my truck. Like it'll like they're not going to tow it for >> No, they just told us that. Yeah, they're not going to tell us to >> Yeah, they're going to leave it there. So, you'll be able to come pick Would you be able to tell the other officer that they could put the like my bags in the trunk? >> Yeah. Yeah. I'm going to search it first and then we'll we'll put in the top. >> Okay. >> Watch your feet. >> With everything else handled, officers move on to search the suspect's items and prepare to wrap things up. >> I'll I'll come back in with our property.
