Melissa was arrested and charged with shoplifting between $500 and $2,500 in merchandise however the district attorney later dropped the case after she completed a pre-trial diversion program deeming it a suitable alternative to jail time for her first offense Melissa self-reported the incident to her employer and subsequently submitted her resignation number four woman steals a tourist purse officers give her a real check officers responded to a hotel where a purse had been stolen the day before surveillance footage confirmed the suspect's involvement and while she wasn't present initially officers were alerted upon a return here's how the confrontation played out we did see the unknown black female on video taking your purse at 1:20 a.m. she left and then she returned it at 1:34 a.m. on the 20th of this month um you mentioned that you were missing 900 when she when it was returned somewhere in between that time um did you want to prosecute this female if you get your money back okay if she returns the money the full amount of the money she won't place any charg okay so if you receive the $900 no charges if you do not receive that you want to press charges yes okay it but um did you spend any of the money that you took no is any of it so but I I was actually before you got here I was going to go to the bate and I was going to go try to extend the room one more day so I was actually you have okay so the amount of money that you took out of that bag are you able to are you able to return all the money I can return the money well the money that you have but you have all the money that was taken are you able to give them back 100% of the money that you was taken right now you're saying or is it just the money that you gave me no I can give me more is what officer entered the suspect's hotel room earlier she had already surrendered about $200 from what she taken from the victim's purse um how much so like I said you gave me I think a little less than $200 over there um I probably didn't grab all from upst are you able to give back all the money that was taken from that bag yes I can now you have the money upstairs that would account for 100% of however you were unable to give them at the time of our contact that might be something that you want to bring up that you're willing and able to reimburse them and you will do so quickly um so that judge uh tomorrow and you'll have a bail amount to get out of get out of jail well I don't have bail I don't have money I can't even call my baby dad I'm going to chew through my I Idol I am not a mentally staed person you don't even know who you have in the back of your car right now and I'm also on so I will sit here and withdraw is they have that available at the jail do a day in for that I have a month old and he doesn't even know where I'm at so what happens if I don't get bail I just sit in jail until until you see a judge tomorrow I'm so let him know that I will because I'm not sitting in jail when I have a period in the end the officer allows her one phone call to contact her husband there is no bail I have no bail that will not happen so don't even waste your time with officers bring her to the processing room go ahead and step on for please step to way head around this way s your tractor this is a trespass notice you're not you're not allowed to go back into that Walmart for the next 3 years okay if you do you'll be arrested for trespassing okay the woman was not only trespassed to the local Walmart for 3 years but was also charged with theft and resisting arrest number one woman gets arrested after shoplifting Legos coming up after Target reports a theft of $1,000 worth of Legos an officer stops the suspect's car here's how the confrontation plays out I was stopping you because this vehicle uh is possibly involved in a shop I think from Target so they provided the description very well of the vehicle and uh description of you know you so uh do you have your driver's license with you yeah I don't you know all right thanks yeah so I mean you essentially know what I know right now I mean there's a depy there that has confirmed it um and they're trying to get all the details hashed out but um they provided a very clear description of the vehicle which matches this description and almost an identical tag number so um you know just uh hang out okay you don't have any weapons in the vehicle or anything okay all right I'll be right back we're looking for Legos Legos I'm going to hang out on this side so where are you heading today where in the back back of this truck so it's uh possible that uh we could have more than one shoplifter uh incident from another location how come you stopped at Target just just to shop because I like I buy and sell Legos so you buy and sell Legos so you were shopping but you didn't get anything I didn't end up getting you didn't get anything no okay so they just didn't have what you were looking for yeah they're always finding cars I'm good at what I do um are you thinking ahead how do you go about Buy sale trading Legos um yeah just like Word of Mouth Word of Mouth word of mouth okay here how lines of sale outside they were covered it outside the store you know she's got a bunch of Lego boxes uh like Star Wars Legos and all that I mean I can see in the back possible that uh according to the store they're saying that um she's been hitting other stores in the state I'm going to grab some water okay okay any weapons in the car no did you just get that no no yest do what you had the yesterday yeah had it since yesterday yday I know that's the Target brand the good and gather that's where I do all my shopping too I like that product there it's it's good going to have her step up cuz J need be driving away all right man I'm just going to have you step out of the car for me okay you could just leave that right on the center console for now and you could put your phone down just so you don't drop it or anything you can just leave it on the seat okay you just hang tight right against car here right here you could just lean right against the car is it key still in the ignition yeah is the car on I think so okay do you mind if I go turn it off real quick and leave the key on the dash we just don't want it running off on us the suspect continues to play innocent but the if at any time you wish to stop talking have an attorney present all questioning will be stopped and youed you understand these rights all right so so you all right cuz before I was asking you if you had any kind of ntic just check do you mind if I parner looks no no all right so real quick before I go search vehicle or anything would you mind just going to the back of his vehicle so that way we're not as close to traffic and so you are aware that thing is sharp so I don't want you getting hurt okay all right be careful for ants yeah it looks like you L like you we're going to do a show up and uh the deput is going to bring by the witness that we have and they're going to say whether or not that the what whatever they observed was uh you or not I didn't take anything from there now the officer give her a piece of advice well I mean uh according to them pass all lines of sale right out of the store and they recovered the property outside the outside the uh doors that it's not outside I can see okay sounds to me that you have kind of an issue with this stuff you know and maybe you should get some help you know cuz this isn't the way to be I'm having ref time right know honestly like I'm going through divor BS and abusive yeah and I'm sorry people shop and do it for the thrill or or they're on hard times but you know uh it may seem like not a big deal to you but the the those big corporations they just write it off and they end up raising the prices of everything else so the people who work their butt off to pay for stuff me I end up having to pay more for stuff like that you know I mean my shoplifting bill or shop shopping bill is more because of theft I don't think it's fair you know meanwhile another officer is conducting a search in the suspect's car you won't believe what they find inside she has a role of a Walmart receipt paper for some reason it's not Walmart walmartcom really yeah survey Walmart okay wonder if Walmart has anything on her found a Target roll so you're going through some tough times that's kind of why you're getting caught up in this stuff yeah yeah like financially difficult times yeah my husband is not supporting me at all and together so are you I mean are you having to are you having to shoplift to provide for your needs that kind of deal huh is it basically I don't want to say too much to you I'm S I can't I don't really want to say too much to you guys oh okay I see what you're saying I'm starting to dig up a few uh things these are some brand new shoes in a Target bag no tags um there's a lot of like Target bags are in this um compressed like State here's a Walmart Ro here's a Target rooll blank receipt paper like but on the back it's the store paper so I guess explain to me what now the officers try to get an explanation from the suspect so I mean you have these items and um according you know it's it's your word versus theirs right because they're saying something explain to me what happened how how did it all go go down I was pushing a car out of the store and they said they stopped me and I just walked away where did they stop you in the in the vest the door vest um you mean like the main doors to the store all right so so you didn't you didn't uh you weren't like in the parking lot going to your but you were heading out and they stopped you before you could get out they yeah what's that yeah okay yeah he needs to just be driving by okay yeah just let us know on L3 also um have your guy contact other LPS for other targets because we're finding a lot more merchandise okay but do your thing ever stand just by the back of your vehicle if you could stand over there please yeah just want to explain right under it as this is happening another cop car passes by with an eyewitness inside he identifies her as the same woman who stole from the store leading to her arrest so just take a look as we drive by and let me know mhm that's her okay stand up turn on Face the car put your hands behind your back like you're clapping push your palms together I have broken fingers I have broken fingers you have broken fingers breing pink so I was kind of get uncomfortable all right listen you've been Cooperative try to take it easy on your hand here going to happen with my's that it's going to happen with my it's going to be toad back to my vehicle later investigation revealed that she attempted to steal $1,137 32 worth of Legos she was taken into custody and was charged with Grand Theft that's a wrap on shoplifting Gone Wrong five Karens who found out the hard way that stealing is
