from Bold lies to desperate excuses these scammers didn't see it coming when their plans fell apart right before their eyes here are five instances when scammers realize they've been caught number five man thinks he can escape the police in handcuffs officers responded to a car dealership after staff reported a client attempting to buy a vehicle using a fake ID watch as they take Swift action remember his story but he doesn't remember the whole thing but um initially he took four or five different phone calls just to see I think he someone Scout um we talk someone he didn't see any cops here so he felt okay and then when he came in um he picked the car he like I just want to do with no money down he was going to buy that car we already have we have an approval on it but then what flagged it was he's from Connecticut and he sended me an Ohio state ID and I S you guys that ID it came back as um the ID that's on there and did he claim to be that person yeah he came in and said hey um have an appointment with OG and then that's how we identified him that's when we called said he's here okay and he said called uh I think Justin is your guys's detective he uh Jason yeah Jason and did he say like hey like I'm I'm a lot right now I'm Jason he says right now I'm Zach um the one that you've been talking to it's how we identified so he said he was Zach okay all right can you thought a statement for me then yeah according to the staff the suspect first showed interest in the vehicle online where he submitted his details however during the in-person interview his inability to recall basic information raised red flags with the evidence provided by the staff the officers return to the squad car to read the suspect's rights can I get a number out of my phone please we're you still try to to act innocent officers are called to a Florida cruise ship where a woman allegedly used stolen credit cards to book her ticket caught by the cruise ship security before departure watch as the officers question the suspect somebody ask you to come on the cruise ship and do something uh no she just no uh no she just W she just W go ahead nothing what did she tell you to do whoever she is listen but it should be my name though why did the person tell you to come on the cruise today you've never been on a cruise before you booked your cruise recently who told you to come on the cruise someone booked the cruise and they told us to um you know they asked about the EXC surgence and basically it was something to do to get away so someone told you to book the cruise they booked it for you m who is that someone I don't know her how did you find out about her so some stranger just no they would no it was on the internet it was on the internet so some stranger on the internet that you don't know Bas hey I'll pay for your cruise if you do what if you do what no you have toay you have to pay them you have to cash out money and everything I never ask no questions how much or none of that she told me I need to get her some money your friend all this so it's through cash app so you have the invoice on the cash app app uh no no not cash apps uh she stay in the city so I can actually go up no yeah so did that same person tell you to get this huh did that same person the cash app same person you were talking about the lady uh did she tell you to get this no no that was something that was for something totally different one tablet with ACI LED in yeah that wasn't for the cruise but what did she tell you did you want a Cru my office please nothing ACI LED in she asked if we want to go and you know to pay her that's it that's all the woman boldly asserts that she paid someone online to arrange the cruise for her but her lack of proof leaves her story unconvincing to officers so what did you pay her how much yeah how much did you pay her huh how much did you pay her uh just a couple hundred you paid her a couple hundred to go on a cruise give me a number $500 so $500 uh to go on this Cruise today yes what did that $500 give you um her and go on the excursions excursions yeah but we never did the excursions though how much should it cost to book a cruise today how much it cost I don't know he told me I ow sway 100 so who's the lady what's her name I don't know her name then how did you pay her cuz I went through I don't know the lady name I don't I barely even know the lady like that but you paid $500 to be on the ship today even though it cost you over $1,200 to actually be on the ship so who paid for the difference uh she said all I had to do was just pay for my flight so you only paid for your flight yes and gave her my money what did she ask you to do on the ship nothing huh yes what she asked you do on the [ __ ] nothing right now no one in their right mind is going to let you pay zero like $500 for a voyage that's well over $1,200 for you to do absolutely nothing and you don't even know this person so I thought it was a scam I just yeah I thought it was but she I just I didn't why did you think that because she was saying she could do it and then she said what can you repeat that H I'm not sure what you said can you repeat this I thought I was going to be able to do it but she told me to just book The U plane ticket and then she was like you know y leave yeah leave and then what uh come here and then what be on the cruise mhm according to the the suspect she only paid $500 and covered her flight insisting that the rest of the $1,200 Cruise expense was handled by the woman she contacted online suspicious of her claims the officers continue to question her uh she said we do the drinking um see I Ain even I mean do the drinking yeah do the drinking get off the bo get off the boat do what we need to do other than that that's it before you said that the the lady wanted you to take excursions M okay but you didn't take them no not today before we ask any question we just understand your right you have trying to break that cycle history of what the history of what well in the past I what's that I'm a contractor but I mean like in the past in the slow years I did use to tring to break that state can't get away from man if I walk into the store think I'm no good according to staff the first suspect entered the store with a 5G bucket of paint demanding a refund after receiving the refund he was seen leaving in a silver Hyundai moments later another man from the exact vehicle entered the store grabbed an empty cart and loaded it with a primer sealer he exited the store and shortly after the first suspect returned attempting to refund the primer sealer as though he had brought it in staff ultimately suspected that the receipts were not genuine purchases but were randomly found where you guys headed to right now our girl uh our kind of joint girlfriend taking her to the hospital taking her to the hospital for what she's got she's 8 months pregnant and it's just time to go all right down the park the yeah yeah there's no there's no drugs whatsoever turn on you gra your so you got pictures of everything so what you say you Dr to the hospital for she's 8 Months 8 months pregnant so where's she at right now she's at Hotel 6 what's that are you still living on friend yeah Mom's house did you give the other offer your ID you yeah what's up phone call not right now so you SC what's up I can't hear you I left them on the counter I one man it was you paid for them I'd to leave them you feel comfortable I wasn't expecting this guy toass me like that all right go ahead and hop out for me you can leave that stuff there it's fine then just face the car for me yeah you have any weapons on you that's going to poke prick or stick me no okay the officers proceeded to search both suspects but refrained from placing them in handcuffs as they run their names through the system and conduct a background check you going have a seat right here cars about 42 to 22 get the store so see it they may be able to get him a lot faster he's probably roaming the store everything in order for you they said my license is suspended because of a nonp paid ticket but I didn't it might have been R like T or something I don't know I mean it could be literally anything it could be the smallest ticket possible but if you don't take care of it they spend your license that's so weird because I just I just took care of three of them that's why I don't understand I can pull up you Dr my tickets [Music] yeah so the last ticket you got was like a red light ticket yeah I paid I actually paid them all off even if you have like I mean they'll literally suspend it for just about anything so if you don't take care of a ticket or something they'll suspend it if you change insurances and there's even a day laps or something like that they'll suspend it I mean I did buy a car so I did get insurance but it wasn't like a la the problem is a lot of the like the insurance companies the DMV and all that they don't communicate so if you change insurances but you don't update it through you know the state or whatever the insurance company typically is not going to reach out to them say hey I got my clients got this they just change insurances this is the new Poli they don't do that so all all the state sees is you got no insurance on the car suspended license while waiting for additional information officers discover that one of the suspects holds a suspended license and engage them in discussion right you got to turn that tag in yep you got to do all that stuff right we're transfer new car and I'm speaking from an experience myself cuz I was going through that and I talked to the insurance company and they're like yeah we'll call them but they never did luckily I called and they're like yeah they never spoke to us so I had to inform them them that I was changing X Y and Z had I not done that it would I would have been in the same boat jeez hey you have your phone yeah they say they sent notification to your house whatever whatever's on this they they sent correspondence to your house according to the mail they've notified they don't suspend your license without calling you several times or or uh sending you letters so I mean I don't know if you're not weird if you're not still living there or for one 26 all right drop your cigarette for me put your hands behind back my phone yep we'll get it all for you in a second let's go back here face car for me me to ja right now we're just finishing up our investigation you got nothing on you correct all right after the background check the officers handcuff the suspects and read their Miranda Rights down [Music] seat this sucks you can face me now if you want or sit regular that was already hot all purchasing that the Fe bre who who you're talking about the cashier the cashier I didn't have a chance to reach out and grab that cuz he was like and that's when he came up to me um and then what did he say to you when he walked up to you then he said that he asked if I had returned something and I like I didn't return it and um it says that had uh walked into the store with nothing in my hands M so how could I return something I said I didn't return that just bought the free that's all I was doing the first suspect claims the only bought an air freshener and presents a receipt as proof denying any other actions however the officers remind him that the store surveillance footage tells a different story listen as he attempts to explain himself so you know they have cameras in the store correct so when they and they're pretty good cameras so if we go look at the cameras it's not going to show you returning anything no good cameras so you went in bought the the air fresheners and then that's when he confronted you you didn't do anything else in the store I walked around I walked around the store shopping but so you the only desk that you went to was the register to check out you didn't go to like a return desk a help desk nothing like that um I did go to the customer service desk yeah okay where'd you go there for to purchase that you went to the customer service desk to purchase it how did you pay for it Cash Cash okay and where's the cash at is it is it in your wallet he uh he's just wanted what was ever in my pockets and I said I who's he the security guy okay so what happened from there I don't know his name I kind of wish I knew it a pretty cool dude uh so I just handed one was in my pocket it was a receipt okay yeah right so before they take that car your phone and your wallet are in there you me to get yeah man that's kind of what I was asking about let me let me handle that and I'll come back and talk to you what's up man you see if you can reach a cell phone and a wallet in the passenger seat here be a brown wallet in the cell phone I think you did okay hey do you have his stuff yeah oh perfect are these yours yeah okay despite all evidence against him the man continues to deny any wrongdoings and so the I put that ID back in that one still was this one yeah yeah we'll take care of it um so you said that he came up and wanted whatever was in your pockets yeah so I just hand him up yeah so like where did you hand him I hand him a $20 bill in my pocket okay and so I just said all here take it man I said I I want nothing to do with this okay why would you give him money if it's your money cuz he came up to me at Conant it's like I just a one whatever's in my pocket I I don't want nothing to do this okay I don't want the trouble man whatever was in your pocket I gave I want to trouble Man Okay so obviously we're here because of whatever happened at Home Depot okay so that's what we're addressing right now as far as our situation the other offic just dressing that with your buddy right there right I get it what's up I get it okay you got enough air you want to turn it down turn it up no it's good man thank you all right yeah if you I'm going to keep it going you know cuz obviously it's hot out but if it gets too cold or you want it the fan turn down a little bit just let me know okay maybe turn down a notch so here's where we're at talk to the op um so you're going to go down to the county jail today for the theft okay so we're going to take you back to the station I got to do some paperwork and then I'll get you down there all right I got your phone and your wallet up front with me um we'll bring that down with us and then um and then you'll go from there okay you got any questions for me yeah um couple phone numbers out my phone yeah we'll do all that when we get to the station that way when I get some paperwork or whatever do you need to get them out of the phone or do you have memorized no I don't have them memorized you have them memorized don't oh okay so you need to get them out of the phone all right when we get back to the uh the station both suspects were formally charged with
