here are five instances when dumb Karens get arrested at their jobs number five Target manager gets arrested on her first day of being promoted on her first day as a newly promoted manager at a local Target the theft took place across multiple tills she was responsible for overseeing lawon prevention stepped in and soon contacted the police watch how it all unfolds have you already interviewed her about it yes she is denying the entire thing and her drawers were short every day then I asse shortage was there okay how were you aware made aware of this so I made aware of this every time a team member opens the registra door it Flags in a system if it's not for a sale um and as well as I review the closing cash have been closing I review all of our closing cash operations regular um while I was reviewing we were missing a cash bag an entire bag um and we were trying to find out where it went so I'm like all right I'm just going to start reviewing video on the and on the 20th I found that both Pags were put there but then I watch this team number go over to another register that register and can see the cash I'll show you that initial video but this is the one I clicked on first there's our team number there and I have a better picture with a face shot that coincide you're good you're good they coincide TimeWise but this this is a nice clip zoom in Over the Top Shot okay can you pause it for a second um so we're in here just reviewing video real quick it's it's can you just make sure she doesn't try to walk out all right the store's loss and prevention explains how the woman stole over $2,000 in a single shift her motus is surprisingly straightforward it's probably going to be a 15 curser so we're looking at one SP 10 20s 50s and hundreds or in the last R room it's a a little bit more video cuz I got the whole process but so you combine the 50s and hundreds and the far right mhm is that how every register is supposed to be that's standard yeah so what she does is she takes all the money out of the register um and once she has it all out she fans it all out and then you can see the left side which would be the larger bills are because she's setting it up that way she'll take a multiple what looks like on the low end to be three okay so we three now is this common for a cashier to sit here and pull all the money out at the cash register and count it and then typically they should just take it all out bang bang bang bang bang and put it in one of those bags so they're not usually counting it at the reg they count at the reg we have a cash office and a machine that counts it okay so smaller bills on top bigger bills on the bottom in the order that she pulled it off from right there rolls it up puts a rubber band on it sets it on top puts that my device little phone thing on top of it puts the remainder of the money in the bag those are coupons or manufactur coupons let get processed as well okay she then rebanks the register with the money that's supposed to go in there all it left the suspect thought she wouldn't be caught little did she know the store has HD cameras equipped to watch her every move place the bag on top that standard places that bag into the cart and then she comes back and retrieves both her phone and the money that's underneath it up right there and the right bucket this is her going over to that same register I it's just a different camera angle so you can see that it's positive identification of her doing it are these 360 cams is that how you're able to move it or I can move only certain cameras they are 360 um I was live here watching this from my office okay that's how I was able to zoom in and get that real clean clean clear shot but this is a similar video you can kind of see your do it here but the top one's the best one it's just another angle okay so is this common for her to go from register to register to take the money out and put it in the bag and bring it to you guys or is it we have a team member that typically does it um whether it's it's her or another team member it's typical practice they go register register take the money out put in the bags put it in this cart where it locks into the cart and this is what she was assigned to do that at that at that point I'm going to rookie cash I was actually looking for a missing bag one of these green bags was say I'm like we're days wor the video trying to find the bag still haven't found it um and then I saw her do this on one of the the camera shots of I'll show you which one that is that's on the 20th at 10:30 10:24 p.m I was just curious yeah no it's it's really cool that it logs that way so like even if someone's doing this on like a regular transaction like cash on you able to see that too do you think she had something to do with that bag I can't prove it um but okay it went missing and that's what triggered the whole investigation after seeing several recordings of the woman stealing money from the cash registers the officer moves to question the suspect my name's aser Kelly I work for West pal Beach Police Department I'm sure you're aware of why we're here cuz they told me that they had already spoken to you about it yeah I okay um but first off before I start I have to read you your rights it doesn't mean you're under arrest it just something I have to do before I ask you any questions okay the suspect explains her side all right so as I spoke to your colleagues there um they basically are they're accusing you of taking in unknown amount of money at this point um somewhere close to the range of $1,400 do you know anything about this at all no okay um how long have you worked here for almost 3 years okay and you've had no other issues like this within the last three years correct um I noticed on camera that you were uh responsible for going from register to register and taking the money out of the drawer is that a common practice of years okay and what is included in that practice what what do you do can you explain to me so I am taking the money from the day out and putting new money for the next day okay and when you take the money out do you count it or anything like that so you just so how would you take it out of the drawer take it out put in the red or green bag and then put the next bag into the okay so you basically just go from each money slot pull it out place it in a bag don't look at it or anything right I fix it up if I need to but so if it's out of order or something you you'll fix it up okay would there be any reason why you would roll up money no okay so you wouldn't roll it in to any kind of like money roll and then put a rubber band over it or anything no okay so when I was watching the video footage it's pretty clear that it was it what you were doing is rolling it into a money rule placing a rubber band over it and then placing it on top of the desk why would you be doing that do that you didn't do that okay so why would the video footage show you doing that you see where I'm at here right I'm watching a video footage that's unedited from the Department Store who has no reason to accuse you of this I don't know if it's unedited but I have never done anything like that okay is there anything else you'd like to add to this all right in the end the employee identified as Janine denies any involvement in the theft nevertheless the officer informs her that she'll be going to jail and she quickly Falls silent so Mr Janine based off the video evidence and uh the statements made by your co-workers I'm going to be taking you to jail tonight is there anything on your person that might poke or stick me no okay can you stand up for me please what is going to happen with my items uh they're going to go with you to jail okay can you take this jacket [Music] off okay thank you and when do I get to speak to aw um that will be after processing so once you get proed into the jail processed into the jail then you'll successfully landed another retail job number four woman's first job ends in a disaster you never know when employees might cross the line thinking they're above the rules let's look at this next case officers in Florida were dispatched to a local Walmart in response to a call about an employee who stole $3,000 watch the suspect scheme unravel hey hey she's in the back okay what's going on uh uh refund fraud she's been uh doing fraudulent returns and loading them to shop cards for herself for how long um I have 30 days worth oh wow okay is someone doing an interview with her back there now they are okay they should be about your story interviews yeah okay oh you know a lot about Walmart I've never se you before I'm aiming I work at the 64 is my Walmart oh okay all [Music] right stand for [Music] [Music] WR a statement she's about to write her statement we just got her to admit the total that she estimates she estimates over 2,000 uh since July she's been doing these transactions um giving false returns uh she'll basically just hand out merchandise and the good card first now your statement that's only for you and Walmart that's not for us yeah okay cuz we I have to read put on each oh okay Walmart's loss prevention team had pieced together the suspect scheme here's the suspect's modus customers would bring in receipts for exchanges and while the cashier processed The Exchange she wouldn't log it in the system instead she'd keep the receipt later using it to issue a false refund and load the cash onto a gift card with this gift card scam she Pockets between $200 to $700 a day yeah she she the customer will come in and be like I'm going to return a battery okay uh unknown customer unknown unnown customer now there's two in here that is an accomplice okay but then the unknown customer comes in they'll have a battery and they'll have an old battery okay she'll scan the new battery upload it to a shop card a gift card and then she keeps it and then she just gives the customer the battery customer get leav so she's giving the merchandise away and she's uploading a card to herself so they're not they're not even paying for it no she's got us like minimum 2,000 we're going to have more oh wow all right she ready was hi huh n just keep out give me the numbers so I can call you what you Kayla no other one oh okay I just you all right listen to me yes sir I'm going to read you something okay okay read your Miranda right now you're being detained you're all right you have the right for me silent anything you can say will be used against you in the court of come in and how how how would you do it how would you do the transaction B like say that they come up and they have like a battery or something like that like a car battery yeah you do like the exchange you do exchange yeah and then when you like you swipe the card you swipe a gift card mhm are they paying for the battery no um they're for exchange oh that's for exchange so they're bringing the old battery in and getting the new battery basically yeah so they're not paying for the new battery you don't you don't do that they just exchange only oh exchange only so they're coming in with a bad battery to exchange it for a new battery is the battery under warranty can I can I just ask you something either way right now you're going to take me look okay so can we just can we just go in okay it's fine turn around take that thing we are going to proceed with trespass as well do not come back to this ever again or any Walmart no that's put your hands like your praying because it'll be easier for you with her admittance the officer handcuffs and arrests the employee cuz I'm going go through everything in here this is yours or is this Walmart that's mine and then that's my good Walmart cards are they hers are they the ones that she loaded there yeah they you can throw them away they they basic they seen the ones on my um thing already okay anything in two things I'm not going to go through it but know it's just that right there that yeah two little r nothing nothing in that pocket okay all right it's okay oh you walk me through the want to walk you right through the way right there yeah right there my coach that seat the back the 18-year-old suspect defrauded Walmart of $3,500 and received a sentence of 224 months of probation according to later reports the young woman admitted that her actions were motivated by a desire to make quote unquote fast money on the job which led her to steal what started as a quick scheme ultimately unraveled into a costly mistake with lasting consequences number three employee tries to get smart with stealing and officers give him a reality check an employee at an airsoft range devised what he believed to be a foolproof scheme allowing players to participate without charge instead he asked them to drop their cash in the tip jar for him to take the man was confident his actions would go unnoticed however his plan soon unra Tred leading to unexpected consequences I will fight for you but this but you know that you're being reported and then you still do thison the evidence is here we have video you've been doing it since
