not going to go to jail today you're going to be given a citation for the charges of shoplifting less than $500 which is a misdemeanor offense and on that citation officer Hardy's working on right now is going to be a copy of the court date it's going to be a must aeer because you're just like if you went to jail You' have to see the judge or have your case heard or find out before then and then come back to court it's the same thing you'll just be leaving today on your own recognizance but you will have a court date set that you have to appear to if you miss that court date then a warrant will be issued through your arrest to appear just same as anyone else with any charges and citations okay um reasoning for that is based on everything you told us there was a high likelihood that if we took you down to the jail today that they would deny you and requireed medical clearance which quite honestly will probably not going to get unless they give you an MRI and say you're okay you know what I mean and so we just don't have the manpower to spend you know all day at the hospital with you as an inmate to try to get any type of clearance to see if you can stay there until you form out so that's why we're going to go this round and that's why we are saying we just need you to be patient because we we have policies in place that say because of certain state law and how procedurally things are done with cases like shoplifting and the need for fingerprinting that we really need to arrest everyone unless there's mitigating circumstances and when there are mitigating circumstances like what's going on with you it's still out of our purview I have to have my superviser approve it which takes takes okay but I'm I am empathetic in understanding that you have a lot of stuff I did wrong a lot of stuff going on in your life right but you listen but listen to me listen to me and I'm not I'm not trying to be mean to you but you made a decision you yeah yeah that's not the right to a highspeed Chase on March 10th 2023 a retail theft at a local Walmart escalated into a high-speed chase the store's asset protection reported that the suspects attempted to steal $1,200 worth of merchandise and fled by car when approached a patrolling officer located the vehicle triggering a dramatic Pursuit watch the chase unfold Bri get a hold of six one on this vehicle start SM [Music] after a lengthy Chase during which the vehicle struck a civilian and caused injuries it finally stopped at a residence what follows is a tense scene as officers move to detain and subdue the male and next officers were called to a Walmart for a suspected shoplifting in progress upon arrival the store's loss prevention team informs them that a man was seen concealing merchandise the responding on May 23rd 2022 officers in Florida were called to a local Walmart after employees caught a suspect passing All Points of sale with unpaid merchandise in her cart showing up there I know I rang up right here it's just the groceries yeah that's all her the groceries then she had the scanner go there's no way for you guys um not until probably tomorrow without her unless we get her phone or her card number did you hit the last four of her card number that she paid with then uh uh 41 okay you B Spot now they're putting us on a bad spot moments later a sergeant arrives on the scene and tries to get the suspect to cooperate with the investigation aiming to clarify which items she paid for and which she claimed were quote un quote accidentally unpaid stealing I just can't get the scan go so apparently so you can seize her phone and you have to get a search for for is it a felony 600 it's not a felony can't even SE hey can can I talk to her by myself for a second like by myself look I I the officers relay the suspect's statement to the store's loss prevention team but with a receipt already in hand they reveal the truth to the supervisor her story is that she used the app she thinks she put the clothes on first the app closed out she said the only thing that she knows that she screwed up on is the vacuum cleaner because she said she scanned the vacuum cleaner twice she was trying to see two different prices she deleted one and she think she said that she she deleted the wrong vacuum cleaner obviously she's stealing the vacuum cleaner for a cheaper one as well as I have a receipt put up right here no clothes on receip no clothes what about this what is oh that's the 8 app yeah no that's no four four four amp she scanned A8 amp thing that's uh that's $36 that one's 52 uh 58 so she scanned something else for okay sto guarantee this is stolen uh 1384 1384 I don't care it's going to no didn't pay for it right no I figed pool lights guarantee is didn't pay for this no this guarantee that she didn't pay for this 100% I just know I could tell the stuff that people steal no this is some this is something people steal oh this is the fabric I was Finding about that's one you said she not the told she paid for that she did yeah7 that's surprising no it's 10:47 so no told you yeah uh shoes no close no close all right I have the shoes at first I but after everything else is stolen so yeah and then that'ss yeah that is not a mistake no the total value of the unpaid merchandise amounts to $611 didn't didn't pay for what what please explain to me cuz I promise you you didn't pay for any any of the clothes you didn't pay for any of the shoes you changed the price on numerous items I didn't change the price I told you I scanned it yeah and I I said that and what at me this is I swear on my son's life well I would not they're getting a receipt to see what the total is all right so after the whole investigation was done uh it was uncover that it was about $611 worth of items that were not paid for that's impossible okay well Paula didn't even have follow I I I had to be I should have been witness it there's no way there is no way that's not right that wasn't my merchandise we we scan each item one by one that was in the cart and that's what a total too then that wasn't my cart because I'm telling you it was the car that you were pushing there's no way PA we're beyond that now you are under arrest this there's no way I promise I don't want to be I no under arrest no I don't believe this no please oh my god dude put your left leg in going to pick upes wasn't there's no way there's no way there's no way that is not true I don't believe it you guys are railroading me we're not railroading you with a total amount being less than $750 the woman was ultimately charged with petty theft and resisting an officer without violence caught on camera and caught by the law these shoplifters won't forget this Walmart trip let me know what you think in
