On May 10th, 2025, an officer was dispatched to TJ Maxx regarding a report that an employee [music] had repeatedly stolen merchandise from the employer. The following events then took place. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> I'm sorry. >> Okay. Give me a run really quick, too, before we go. >> Julianne, can you please come grab the purse key from me? Um, I have an associate who was um, stealing, but LP will be able to describe it more to you. >> Okay. >> Yep. >> It said something about suicidal comments, too. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Yep. >> So, are you guys wanting to prosecute her for that? >> It's up to them, not about me. Sorry. >> Okay. >> Due to Ohio state law, the video will be blurred during the initial contact between the officer and the suspect, as well as during the interaction with the TJ Maxx manager. However, the audio will continue to play for 1 minute before the full bodywn camera footage resumes. >> Are you're not with LP? >> I am. I just don't have the statement in front of me. Uh she took it. >> Um basically she admitted Oh, since last January 2024, um the total was $1,147 around that area. Um, she admitted to stealing um once a month on an average of like $25. >> Okay. [snorts] That's up to you guys if you want to prosecute on that or not. >> Yeah. Yeah, we are. >> Okay. Do you have your guys' report for it? >> Please let me pay the money. I just want to pay back. >> Riley, what's going on? >> It was this extreme financial issues. I've been in financial struggles I've never experienced before. I only just graduated and so now I actually have gotten to a point where my head's above water and it feels like when I was finally able to get back on my feet now everything's crashing down on me. >> I'm so sorry. I'm a teacher. Please let me >> When did you feel like things are getting better for you? >> This month I graduated. And don't worry, you're not the first person I've seen from high school. Don't feel like you are. I just don't even know what's going to happen, >> you know. I mean, the best to me and I feel like I just ruined my life. >> Well, the best thing to do from here on out, you know, take this as a learning experience and, you know, build from it. You don't have to keep doing this and you don't have to keep living like this. You can build yourself up from this and >> that's what I was going to do now that I I graduated and then I got grant money on Friday. So, it's the first time I've had money. I understand. Money. Money makes things stressful. I did it. >> I'm just so sorry. >> No, it's >> But you said I can't even spend Mother's Day. Like >> you'll probably stay all day. Yes. >> That's the See, that's not up to me or tattering. That's strictly >> I just don't even know what to tell my parents. I >> I know there's there's one right here, but I'm down here. >> I just I was going to be there for Mother's Day. >> Are you still living with your parents on Marshall? >> No. >> No. We're going to go to the other side of my cruiser. So, not this side, but that side. Okay. >> I'm just going to pat you down really quick, too. You just want to face my cruiser. So, you haven't been to jail ever before and never charge. >> Oh, I've never done anything to go. >> I'm just going to f real quick. You can you can lean up real quick. >> I'm so sorry. >> It's okay. Do you have anything in your belt bin? >> No. >> I don't even know what to do or say to my family. >> You'll get a phone call. So, whoever whichever parent you want to call is who you can choose to call. >> I just don't even know what to do right now. I never thought this would be my life. >> Just take a deep breath. It's It's okay. Okay. I promise. Yeah. I promise it's not the other one. >> It doesn't feel okay. >> I know. >> Hold on one second. Hey, I'm getting in my car. Okay. >> I know you said I'm being charged as a misdemeanor. So, why do I have to go to jail for a misdemeanor? >> So, theft is a arrestable misdemeanor. >> I ruined my life. I hate you [laughter] so much. I ruined my entire life. >> No, I promise you did not ruin your entire life. [snorts] >> You don't even know we'll be home Monday. I don't know what I'm going to do. So, like I like I told you, you'll get a you'll get a phone call in our jail and then when you get transferred down to county, you'll also have another phone call. Should >> I know, but it's the fact that I don't know how long I'll be there. I wish I could just go home. I wish I could pay the money and go home. >> I know. Sometimes it seems like it could just be easier that way, but unfortunately, you know, it's up to TJ Maxx what they want to do. And they're kind of the victim of theft a lot, >> right? >> So, usually, you know, like our our meer in Karing doesn't play around. They'll they'll get you for theft. Always there. >> I know. It just I wish I knew how long I I want to go home. >> [snorts] >> Okay, I got everything I need to be put in there. So, I'm going to head out now. It was never worth know. I should have just dealt with it. I don't know why I thought the risk of ruining my life was worth it. I feel like I'm about to lose everything. You genuinely don't know how long I'll be in a jail cell. I mean, if you can bond out, you'll be able to be out tonight. But that's just depending on how much your bond is. If someone's willing to lend you that money to bond out, that means you'll be out of jail tonight and um you'll have a court date again. >> All right. >> So, I mean, you can't Bonding out is an option. They'll probably make you take out your nose hoop when you get there. >> Okay. Will they uncuff me so I can >> Oh, yeah. You You're uncuffed in the jail. You're not cuffed the whole time. I mean, it's a good thing that they're only able to find $250 worth because $1,000 is a felony. And obviously, a felony is a little bit of a worse charge to have. >> I don't even know where that specific dollar amount came from. I had told them every single item I remember taking and I don't know where they could have possibly gotten that that dollar amount. >> Well, they're not you're not getting charged with felony theft, so don't worry. Don't worry about it, honestly. So it like doesn't matter after today >> unless they find more proof. It shouldn't. >> She was arrested for theft and admitted [music] to taking the merchandise. Any additional charges will be determined by the court, but the report confirms that she was taken into custody.
